ooh well done. that was quick!
I will catch up on everyone else in a bit, but first an update on me... (sorry!)
Well I called the hospital, they made me go in, I ended up staying overnight and seeing a physio in the morning as an emergency. It is SPD, and pretty severe at that. I have been given crutches and a support belt and warned not to attempt even a couple of steps without them. Also been given codeine and paracetamol and told not to be even late with a dose.
Section in ten days, but until then I have not to do anything except walk very very slowly and carefully to the loo and back, and once a day up the stairs to bed. DD is going to be spending a lot of time with her grandparents!
The physio was really good, she went through every single movement I might want to make and showed me the best way to do it.
Lovely new thread, thanks ninja off to bed now to see if I can get some sleep!
Well done Ninja
Great soup recipe:
Butternut squash, diced with an onion in some veg stock with a chopped red pepper and cook for about 20 mins. When it's done, add in half a pack of philadelphia (or tesco's best) then blend.
Serve. Yum
Few small twinges here but I suspect it's more him cervix dancing than anything constructive
Nicely done Ninja
Lissy sorry they confirmed it was SPD, think there are many of us who sympathise with you here. Glad your physio was good, and just stay on countdown now!!
Contracting on and off here again for the second night in the row. Except this time am at DPs and he's panicking bless his cottons. Ouchie!! * crosses fingers that this time something is actually happening *
Thanks for the new thread, Ninja !
wook seriously?! I hope somebody better sees you soon! I don't have a perfect understanding on how it works over there, but surely somebody in the know has seen you since October??
Lissy you poor thing, sorry and I hope meds and crutches will help you a bit...Not much longer!
scarlotti that sounds really good- do you have to peel the squash?
Have never cooked with squash obviously, but it's all over the market right now. Also, yey for the twinges! Good luck!
Erica Good luck! Maybe this'll be it!
bookmarking thread thanks ninja and having a moan...
DH is still not home. He is bloody annoying, and quite deceptive really. We popped in to see said friend who is down, and her partner, on way home from our christmas house visit. Her partner happens to be DHs best friend of many many years (like 20). He has been offered a job in Dubai for 6 weeks (hence her feeling low i suspect) and we stayed for celebratory glass of champagne, turned into staying for lovely fish supper (or, in my case, chips n gravy!). DH wanted to stay there, friend offered to bring him back a bit later. So, I had to come home with DD myself. Not a problem, although the conversation of it all took place in front of everyone so I had little choice in the matter or be seen to be some harpy wife. Anyway, DD wanted to sleep in our bed with us, I said to DH, you will need to put her to bed when you get home, and he was like fine, won't be late (as I cannot sleep with her in the bed for more than a couple of hours as she figits, talks in her sleep, takes up room). I have just had to take her up to her own room, else have her sleep with me all bloody night. I am wide awake, and this means he has awarded himself a lie-in, as DD will wake in 4.5 hours, he moans and gripes about her being awake at that time anyway, let alone when he has had no sleep.
But hey thats ok, I don't need the rest. Not like I am having a baby and need pampering or anything. And, he is not going to see his friend for 6 weeks, so its to be expected, although he does this most weeks. Anyone would think its his lover not a mate
He better not have been drinking is all i can say. I might put the spare duvet out on the sofa for him.
[grr] sorry to moan.
Pavlov did you banish him to the sofa in the end? Big hugs. Not what you need right now really, is it? x
I am now incredibly grumpy and tired - I keep drifting off for maybe twenty minutes or so then wake up because of the pains. Stay awake for about an hour and a half. Repeat. Am letting DP sleep through it. Wish he had some food in the flat though...
Hope you're all either sleeping comfortably or snuggling your babies
oh erika do you think this is it? I really hope so, hope it gets started properly soon.
A friend of mine who was due in 3 days gave birth yesterday. Little girl. Seems to be equalling out, boys and girls.
2am he came in, i did not banish him to the sofa in the end, as if he was there, DD would come in and wake me up, and I wanted him to get up.
As it happened, she came in and woke me up anyway, then as I was telling her to go to sleep, he started shouting at her 'to back me up'. I am not having him barking orders first thing, so said I would deal with it. So he went back to sleep, and offered to get up once I was properly and truly awake. Bit pointless for him to get up now seeing as I am awake. I hardly slept as DD has a cough and I could hear her, kept me awake.
So i am now grumpy and miserable but probably not for as good a reason as you, hopefully!
Hi all feeling a bit panicky this morning hope no one minds me letting off a bit of steam. Baby is being very naughty at the moment whenever i go to the hospital for a check up he seems to be fast as sleep. Cue lots of umming ang ahhing by the docs and MWs plus extra monitoring was there yesterday , last night, this morning, tomorrow...
everyone keeps asking if his still moving frequently well yes but.. then i start wondering with all the aches and pains plus ds1 permenantly chatteing away maybe not. Thinking i'm starting to be a bit paranoid. theyy say not to worry but well thats not going to work is it! just wishinig it was over - its much easy when you can actually see the baby!! At least i konw that whatever happens Tuesday morning i check in to the hospital. Finally
Lizzy I get twinges of SPD and they are agony can't imagine what yiu must be going through. Hope the meds tke the edge of so you can rest
Pavlov what is it with men and sleep. Must be a throw back to teenage years. My dp can hardly function without a good 12hrs sleep. Whhaatt! when did i last get 12hrs sleep (i'm sure ther must have been a time before kids) Of course he says he has to go to work - well yes but i'm heavily pregnant with a hyper 3yr old!!
maman he has to work?
. So being heavily pregnant with a toddler is not work?
cheeky man! DH is ok on little sleep, but 4 hours is a bit too little. He thinks he is fine, but he is not! He is grumpy as, and seeing as I am too, not a good combination!
I hope the scans are ok, I bet baby is just playing for them, being a bit camera shy! I hope so, fingers crossed for you.
I have had the normal period pains and heaviness, a bit more of a show, but nothing else, had this for days now so am anticpating this going on for several more days/weeks yet!
Morning ladies
comma yes, peel the squash (easiest if you chop it into bits then slice the skin off) and scoop out the middle. Chuck it all in the pan and cook for 20 mins before adding the cheese. Yum!
pav am up with DS too and
at the night you've had. Apparently my DH needs the saturday lie in as he's had a long week at work! He should try looking after a 4 year old with a 10 ton truck up his jumper!
erika sorry to hear you're still having twinges that keep you awake, tiring for you.
maman you need to be having 10 kicks or more a day, and they can be at the same time (i.e. 3 in one wriggling session) Just goes to show how little they do move at this late stage.
Slight period pains going on here again but nothing has developed. Today might be the day though - DD is 11/07, DS is 11/11 so a 07/11 would fit in nicely!!!!
Can you tell I'm clutching at straws!
wiggle less? not his boy. he won't keep still. and i am getting arms sticking right out of my side. apparantly it is because i am all uterus and baby, no fat so can feel and see it all
clutching at straws scarlotti? Noooo, doesn't sound like it at all
Morning all - hope things start moving soon Erika.
You sound as despsrate as me now Scarlotti. Really need to get this baby out today as my grandad has just died
and so my dad, who was coming over to pick up DD1 when it all kicks off, is flying up to the north of Scotland tomorrow and will be away all week. Can't believ just how much crappy sad stuff has happened during this PG.
My mum can't drive as she has Menieure's (sp?) and so otherwise we have to rely on my sister to bring my mum over to our house to stay with DD - not really ideal.
Have some local friends who can come and sit with her if it all starts happening v quickly, especially as DH's work is 40 mins away, but am panicking now there won't be enough time. MW said that if the waters go first, like last time, hospital will want to check you over within 2 hours, even if they send you home again. Really hoping that it starts with contractions instead, even though that makes it harder to know whether its the real thing or not. Aargh! Just as I was starting to feel a bit more organised and ready!
Have already had 2 cups of raspberry leaf and will get DD1 to cme trekking round town to try and get things shifting - typically have had no contractions at all this week, depsite three days of it on and off last week. Hope we get some more babies soon and that everyone has a good weekend! x
Oh tabby, so sorry to hear your news. Thinking of you.
pav it's the cervix breakdancing that makes me wince now!
Question - as I don't get a 40 week appointment (not sure why?) should I get in touch with anyone from the mw team to talk about sweeps/induction dates? I'll see her at 41 weeks but that seems late speaking to some of you who already have dates booked in.
Hi all!
tabby sorry to hear about your grandad, thinking of you.
Ursi I didn't get a chance to say congrats on the other thread, hope you are enjoying getting to know your little girl. I know what you mean about them wanting to sleep on the breast, Amelia will be fast asleep but as soon as I put her in her moses basket she wakes up crying until I put her back on! I have resorted to having her sleep next to me a few times and bought one of those cots with the side missing that go right up against the bed so that she can feel close to me. She is fine during the day though.
Ds is being so sweet with her, keeps saying Millie cuddles and kissing her. This morning she was crying and he rubbed her tummy and said shhh shhh, it's alright baby Millie!
Hope there are some new arrivals soon, we need a post natal thread!
lissy hope your spd eases up, look after yourself. Erika sounds like you are next so good luck!!
Erika fingers crossed this amounts to something. How are you feeling now?
Pav I would have been very cross too. Did he sleep on the sofa? What time did he get back? Grrrrrr.
Scarlotti the cervix breakdancing is absolutely excruciating. Does it actually mean anything? I had it for about an hour, on and off, last night and Thursday - I was literally screaming with pain, rolling around on the floor!! It is NOT nice!!
Tabbykat, really sorry to hear about your grandad.
V bad timing as well as being v sad. I am also surprised about the hospital needing to check you 2 hours after waters going - is that because of something that happened during your last pregnancy? Our hospital says 24 hours (which I find strange, but think they are like that around here).
Lissy you poor thing. I didn't realise SPD could come on so quickly. Atleast you can now count the days on 2 hands. Is DH being supportive and fetching EVERYTHING to you/looking after DD?
Got MW appointment in an hour. Hope this baby has engaged, because it hadn't 2 weeks ago. Surely a first baby should have by now?
Oh, and probably TMI
actually managed sex in the hope that it might help things along!! Fingers crossed!
still not popped this morning. dh seems to b getting annoyed i havent already. i cant make her come out!
Pav here's hoping you get the lie-in tomorrow. Deffo YOUR turn!
Lissey Glad to hear you are getting good care in horrible circumstances. We'll be counting down the days with you.
Erika hope you can rest up today and get DP to fuss after you.
Katser what's the news from your MW? My LO (also a first baby) hasn't engaged at all (last checked at 40+3) but MW not concerned as he is hovering over the right spot, says that the first couple of contractions will shift him down. Be interested to know if your MW says anything different!
We also had rumpy last night in an attempt to move things on. Tricky bit wasn't finding a position but just persuading my DH to give it a go! I thought it was meant to be us girls who went off sex in the third trimester... Didn't work anyway so in a bit of a grump now. Another thrilling day of grocery shopping, cleaning and DIY awaits. Meh.
Ooh, a few people sound like they will be holding babies soon! Good luck ladies!
I am FULL of drugs, I feel drunk. MIL has just left, she came round as DP left for work and, bless her, has been fetching and carrying for me and looking after DD. Her and DD have gone off to asda to buy me some baggy tracksuit bottoms as I am struggling to get dressed without help.
sorry I can't type much, but please know that I am reading about you all and thinking of you. This thread is a lifesaver!
Hi its my due date today so everyone keep their fingers crossed for me , although no signs so far so im not getting my hopes up!
Lissy you poor love, hope the drugs are taking the edge off it all for you.
kaster yes, cervix breakdancing is very sore!! Am just hoping it means that LO is pressing down hard which encourages the cervix to start dilating.
Am sure mine has moved down again, heartburn has eased which is a godsend but I now permanently feel like I need a wee! Pressure from inside bearing down is constant so surely it can't be too much longer?
DH has just gone to do a tesco run with my folks and there's a football and a rugby match on today they want to watch .... sounds like plans that need to be quashed by a baby arriving to me!! [wicked smile emoticon]
Hmm, weird, I keep having what feel like mildly painful BH, but it has just occurred to me that I am on painkillers, so would that mean I wouldn't feel the contractions as much? Presumably it would.
Oh well, I can't do the walking about or having a hot bath or anything, so I think it is just a case of sitting here and seeing what happens
It is odd that i am now kind of hoping I get to the booked section date? I just don't fancy contractions and rushing about on top of everything else, and since this whole SPD thing has made it clear I really should not get pregnant again, I am kind of holding on to my last few days of pregnancy...ever. Also starting to get scared about the section. Obviously this is lunacy. The baby has to come at some point, and the longer she leaves it, the longer I am immobile and in pain. I think it is just fear of the unknown.
Ooooh new thread!
Today we're having DS1's birthday tea. It is not a party. It is a tea! That's what I keep telling DS1. But it is turning into a party as I keep getting into the spirit doing decorations, pass the parcel, a treasure hunt and I wasn't going to do party bags but now everyone has something to take home with them. Ah well. It's all good fun.
No baby arriving today. I know. But I'm glad we're doing this a week in advance just in case (DS1's birthday is a week on Monday).
Erika hope you are ok.
Lissy poor you. I hope you feel a bit better now with medication
