nice one BBL!

thanks bbl!
pav and usi thanks for your thoughts. I don't see what the issue is either and it just makes me wish I hadn't bothered at all. Seems quite ungrateful to me.
Ah well, c'est la vie - like they say, you can choose your friends but you can't choose your relatives.
Thanks for making me feel a bit better - the texts I had this afternoon made me cry!

Thanks BBL!!
Hellooooo!! Can't believe we have filled yet another thread
!
Pav Hope you are feeling better really soon. Sounds like things are definately getting there with the house & decorating now. I bet it's lovely
Scarlotti I am absolutely
and
at your bro & SIL!!! How bloody rude quite frankly. They ought to be thankful you even bothered getting her something. Ignore them, they are being selfish twunts.
So I had my hospital appointment today (for the scan refferal for being small for dates) turned up and they had no record of me even being down for an appointment, grrrrrr.
They managed to "squeeze me in" so had usuals done, BP, measuring fundal height and a trace done on baby for 20mins.
MW managed to get my measurement at 38wks, very odd seeing as on Thurs I was measuring 33 and I know I haven't grown 5cms over the weekend! But I also know she was measuring from a different place to the MW who I always see so know it was wrong anyway.
Trace on baby was fine, BP was so low mw looked really worried until she looked at my notes and realised it's normal for me lol.
She went and spoke to doc and then said I have a scan Thurs at 5pm, how conveinient, but if I'm worried about anything in between then give them a call.
I'm just a bit annoyed really that I basically made dp take morning off for nothing (and he will now have to take more time off for scan) well nothing my own mw 5mins away couldn't have done. Never mind. Shall see what scan shows on Thurs.
Right I must now drag myself away and do the washing up and washing that I've been trying to avoid for the last hour.
Hope all went well with the scan Erika

Tamlin Arthur is fabulous!!! I'm so pleased its going so well and it will get better with the sleep thing
Scarlotti its sad they are annoyed..you really shouldn't stress about it, not in your condition. I'm sorry they are being so unreasonable. I would never mind a second hand present and no one should. However if they do they should be gracious about it.
koumak lots of sex???????? you're wild woman! i couldn't even fathom it..yuk..am mad at DH at the mo as he was rather unreasonable when we were discussing seeing bruises on children and what conclusions we came up with..He made me cry and his mother was ever so angry about him not apologising.
Sorry for the moan..
Yey, new thread!!
Scarlotti , I am also
at your brother! I can't believe their immature entitlement attitude! Next time they'd get naught, if it were up to me.
What a cheek, instead of giving you a hug, kiss and big thanks for handing over your own children's toys when you are in a pinch...
Really Scarlotti haven't your b and sil got anything better to do than rummage through boxes of sticklebricks and moan?! I suppose I might conceivably ask for a receipt for a present if it was actually broken, stained, holes in or whatever but otherwise why be petty? Are they always like this?

If it were me, I'd feel bad enough about making a relative confess to giving a second hand toy, never mind berating them for it! It's just downright rude, selfish and inconsiderate.
Kyte
on your behalf about your scan situation and totally in awe of your baking efforts
. I find it hard enough to even get dinner on the table for DD and DH in the evening, never mind dealing with my kitchen during the day! I totally lack inspiration for food at the best of times, especially now. It was tortellini and shop-bought sauce again tonight...
Hope erika's scan went well.
comma are you, by chance, a bit hormonal today? Just by reading your response to laugs' rail centre experience
! I took DD (then just 2) to Edinburgh by train with buggy and luggage, caught a connecting bus to the airport and flew to Belfast and back last December. TBH it was a nightmare, but there were some very helpful gentlemen at the station. The buses and associated queues were another story entirely. I was frazzled anyway, after a miscarriage, and not very tolerant of fools who tried to overtake me in the queue as I was trying to right a tipping wheeled suitcase, pick beloved Teddy out of a puddle, push a buggy one-handed and calm a toddler hysterical at the sight of such a dirty teddy. Some people got a good piece of my mind that day.
tamlin congrats on having such a perfect son! SO glad the feeding is going well. It's a huge thing after the pg you had!
Lissy such a relief for you to have a date and not to have to worry about VBAC
Hope it goes well.
ninja hope everything has settled down for you.
Nothing to report here. I'm finding that I get more productive pushing down effects from LO if I'm sitting up properly in my new gliding chair rather than trying (and failing) to prop myself up on the sofa downstairs. So I'm now sat in LO's room being antisocial and hoping that the heartburn eases this way too. Have tried that perineal massage again a couple of times and it gets much better, which, I suppose, is the point. It helped to look up some proper instructions rather than just ferreting around
. BHs have all bit disappeared.
Really odd this last month, isn't it?

Wow What alot to catch up on!
Easyeggs Sorry you had a wasted trip, fingers crossed things will go ahead on Thursday.
Lissy glad you will get your CS
scarlotti I can't see their problem
I asked my friend to give ds one her ds's old toys for his birthday this year, he didn't play with it and she was going to charity shop it! (plus it was worth more than she would normally have spent)
as long as most of the bricks are there I can't see a problem!
Tamlin glad Arther is feeding well, maybe he is about to grow?!
Well I had right day yesterday, I woke up with blurred vision and a headache, after a couple of hours it was still there and I remembered that it was on the list of call your midwife if.... so I phoned and had to go in, they checked my blood pressure etc and all was fine so we decided it was a migraine, I came home and went to bed. I feel much better today and have infact taken the boys on the train to Nottingham, we've had a lovely day.
erika hope things have gone ok today?
Hobnob, I'm chuckling (painfully) at the 'ferreting around' bit! Thanks for the giggle.
Scarlotti, good grief. Your relatives sound like the sort to not only look a gift horse in the mouth but investigate all the other orifices while they're at it.
EasyEggs Sorry your trip was such a waste of time. The measurement I've had taken throughout this pregnancy have always come out smaller, apart from the first one I ever had. Two midwifes have measured me and came up with different measurements. I'm sure the scan will be absolutely fine and you'll get the chance to see your bubba!
Scarlotti I agree with what the other ladies have said. Just rise above it as they are totally wrong!!
Kyte Those cookies are something else!! DH loves them and I've been partial to a few myself today. If you have any other good recipes you would like to share, please go ahead!
Talking of recipes - I've got a nice quick easy meal I would like to share. It's a Gordon Ramsey dish, takes no time at all, very filling, ideal for eating on the go!
Serves 4
Ingredients
300g pasta shells (conchiglie)
sea salt and black pepper
34 tbsp olive oil
125g pancetta, sliced ( i use the cubed from sainsburys)
2 medium leeks, trimmed and finely sliced
250g chestnut mushrooms, trimmed and sliced
23 tbsp crème fraîche
Bunch of flat leaf parsley, chopped
Parmesan shavings to serve (I've not used the parsely or parmesan)
1. Add the pasta shells to a pot of boiling salted water and cook for 1012 minutes, or until al dente
2. Meanwhile, heat the olive oil in a large pan and add the pancetta. Fry for a few minutes until it is golden brown, then add the leeks, mushrooms and a little salt and pepper. Stir over high heat for 68 minutes until the leeks are tender
3. Drain the pasta and immediately toss with the pancetta, leeks and mushrooms. Stir in the crème fraîche and season with salt and pepper to taste. Scatter over the chopped parsley to serve

scarlotti - daft behaviour from DB and SIL. Much more environmentally-friendly anyway to give almost-new sticklebricks, I wouldn't mind at all. I bet the 2 yr old was perfectly happy with them!
hobnob however did you find me out?
Am going like a crazy cat lady from ecstatic joy over the perfection of an apple seed to muttering dark curses at everything and toying with idea of putting innocent dog on craigslist. For free.
But seriously, had obnoxious experiences lately and am just so fed up with people being selfish and grabby. May very well be due to living to close to New York...
Thank you, you're all such a lovely bunch. Am feeling so much better after your replies.
They are slightly odd, and thankfully the rest of my family aren't the same.
I am rising above it
easyeggs sorry to hear it was such a shambles for your appointment today.
Am getting downward pressure every time I'm standing now but nothing seems to be progressing. Guess really I shouldn't be hoping for too much just yet as theoretically I could still have at least 20 days to go
... think I might have gone slightly insane by that point!!

Woo hoo - I'm actually around on a monday to add myself to the list!
easyeggs I've had a couple of extra growth scans, and have another one booked on wednesday, because of erratic growth rates, high blood pressure, protein in water (all the best stuff
) and each one has been fine. Although the baby is measuring a little small the consultant has been v cool about it and is keeps saying that to get an average some have to be smaller, some bigger. It's pants that you've had an unnecessary trip though.
I've stopped work two weeks earlier than I'd planned, using a combination of annual leave and sick leave because of how much time all of the extra monitoring was taking up. In some ways I'm a bit gutted but in others it's nice to have some time to myself and to not worry about being so flaky at work.
scarlotti
here as well. I'm guessing that it's not an issue for their LO, just for them
x-posted with Stormfly, just adding in.

Scarlotti
too at your brother! Bet their two-year old was happy though. Can't imagine what you said, how rude of them though!
Just had a mad evening of cooking soup for the freezer, packing bags (well, repacking bags) and ironing babygrows. Have tried to organise the wardrobes in the spare room so we have a space for vests, a space for babygrows, one for blankets and towels, and one for outfits. Do I sound like a maniac?! Feel like I will never be ready! Think the cat is worried about me - I can't sit still!
Easyeggs I think the fundal height thing is mad too - at 34 weeks, I was measuring either 31, 32 or 33cm depending on which midwife you believe, then by 36 weeks I had grown to 36 cm! Apparently it can vastly change to do with way baby is lying / who is measuring!! Hope everything goes ok on Thurs. Bet your DP is annoyed too if he had to take time off work.
Eeek, is scary that by the time we reach the end of this thread, goodness knows how many new babies will have arrived!!!
Scarlotti - am so shocked. What an unfortunate attitude for them to take. Hope you can ignore it and leave as their problem.
Katster am loving your nesting! I ironed loads of babygros & muslins, as my Mum pointed out, it will be the only time they see the iron!!
My midwife forgot to measure my fundal height at the last appt, and am quite glad, as so many people seem to get worrying news, and it's all so subjective. A girl at my aquanatal was told she hadn't grown and had to have extra monitoring, then the baby was absolutely fine, 7lb 7oz!
Am so excited about all these babies - who will be next!!
