Hello everyone, have spent 24 hours away so hello to all the new people!

To skihorse and everyone else talking about fatigue, I feel your pain, but actually feel loads better today for the first time in a week, and I wonder whether (please bear with me as I'm new to this) my body is getting used to it - I'm due July 10th and maybe others where the fatigue is kicking in are due later? If so, it might be a sign that it will soon pass for you soon! But I'm not a doctor, or a mother, am just clutching at straws.... Perhaps it was just the raspberry smoothie I had at lunchtime.

WickedWitch I think there is a sick room on a far away floor, but as I don't want anyone at work to know yet I'm trying to battle on and be "normal".

This next paragraph has TMI, especially if you're a veggie, so I apologise in advance, but I had such an intense dream last night about meat - cows were staring at me, alive, but were just joints of meat with no skin on them, yuk and sorry - that I feel I cannot possibly face meat again. I got home this evening and thought the house smelt of meat. It was so powerful and I guess part of the magical mystery tour that is pregnancy!!!
skihorse Reading your comment about smoking has made me feel a little bit better. Im trying so hard to kick the habit but is proving difficult, im 6+2 right now and i keep thinking every cigarette is really damaging the baby. Ive got a docs app on mon so if i havent kicked it by then (im reading the stop smoking book by allen carr right now) I will ask her about alternate methods. Id rather use NRT than actually smoke as its no where near as harmful.

Hi tj and nice to see you.

That is shocking. Here in the UK - done privately and paid for without any insurance - is less than £200. That's absolutely, out-of-the-NHS paid for privately. Includes scan, blood tests and consultations. emsie no chance you could put off the trip for a few days??

casper & ski sorry to hear you're both having such a bad time. It's all so ironic, isn't it. My parents are off on holiday for two weeks this weekend so I'm going to be stuffed if this kicks in badly for me going into week 6 as I have no choice but to go to work or close the office hmm.

I took LC to the chinese doctor today and at the same time mentioned the fact that the MS was kicking in. She said she could put together a mix of herbs to make into a tea which is apparently really effective. I'm in town tomorrow so if I'm feeling as bad then I'll pick some up and let you know how it goes.

Evening all!

Also part of the knackered as hell group today! Thank god it's the weekend now!

Violet hope your scan goes really well!

lifeistooshort and wonderstuff hoping all goes smoothly with all the house moving! I am also from Amasingstoke!

I had the first person ask if I am pg today at work.... Lied unconvincingly and then sidled away looking sheepish- how are you meant to deal with it when that happens???

Emsie - do you have any health insurance at all from the UK? I think it would probably cost you a fortune. Just picking figures out of the air here but would suspect $500 -$1,000 for the scan alone. Before anybody interpreted it.
Then another $100 or so for any blood test. Then you would need to visit a genetic counsellor for a chat ( they made me the last time- even if you don't want to) and another visit to an obstetrician to talk about the scan--- each visit could cost $500.

I know these are just guesses but I had all of this at 12 weeks the last time , although wwith insurance you have to pay some of it they still send you a bill --- can't remember the exact figure but fairly shocking. Think in all twas about $3,000.

Where are you going to be? If you are in my area maybe I could point you in the direction of someone who might know.

Hi all.
Caspar am having similar experiences- urgent toilet trips blush and a few hot flushes when I am sweating while others are shivering! Very Odd Indeed.

Its so exciting now that people are starting to have scans! Mine on 3rd Dec, will be 8+4, by my calculations (which could be miles out as my cycle has been so irregular).

Looking fwd to hearing evryones experiences!
Happy weekends smile

Is hiccups a pregnancy symptom? I am desperatly trying to look for some (symptoms, not hiccups!) but I'm not having any, so worried. But I'm a worrier anyway...

sevans, yes, by my calculations (which may be wrong, of course), I am due on July 20th too

Actually, I have a question for you US-dwelling gals. I am going to US on 1st January for work, for the whole month, at which point I won't quite be 12 weeks. So I have booked a private scan for downs screening here in UK at 11+2, the very last day I'll be in UK, which the clinic said might well be too early. So... if it is too early, and they can't give me an indication of risk, I want to know whether it would be ridiculously expensive for me to have the scan privately in the US. Any ideas?

As I mentioned previously, the downs thing is something I'm quite concerned about, and I would rather not have to wait until I come back to UK, when I'll be 16 weeks and would just have to have amnio. Aaaargh!

Sorry for long post, and no worries if you don't know the answer - just a thought.

Wishing everyone with morning sickness a lovely, sickness-free weekend! And those with fatigue a very restful one.
i am still being projectile vomited on-which is in turn making me projectile vomit...
bloody sick kids and bloody all-day sickness *feebly sakes fist*
Congrats on exchange lifeistooshort
Hopefully we will be exchanging next week [everything crossed]

If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
