Could it be ferritine which is low - this is the stored iron reserves. I have to take iron (but I've stopped for the moment) even though not anemic but have low iron stores.
Baby is obviously fine as she's been doing aerobics in there for days now..
I looked up low iron online and most of the posts say low iron/anaemia which makes it look like the two things are the same!?

I asked if normal pregnancy supplements would be OK but the doctor said no, he's writing me out a prescription for iron tablets now and I need to pick it up this afternoon. I need to eat more red meat etc as well too apparently.

I don't mind taking them if I need them (even though the inevitable constipation will be no fun) I just wish he'd made sense so I felt a bit less confused!

Considering phoning the midwife for some clarification...
Millie - my baby is moving alot too, i notice it more after meals and alot at about 9pm ish.

GS - i don't know! How odd sounding. Having totake iron will be fine though, and is quite common. I have my blood test next Wedsnesday and i wonder what my iron will be.

Am veering more towards Maisie for her name.
Grrr, doc called back but not my normal doc as he is off and the stand-in's English was not great.

Apparently my blood count is fine so I'm not anaemic but my iron levels are low and I need iron tablets!?

I thought Anaemia was low iron??
whhy did they not arrange a bloomin doc call? grr hope its ok hun xxx
Just got a call from the doctors. They want me to make a phone appointment to talk to the doctor about the results of the blood test I had done on Tuesday!!

Panicing now cause they never call if it's good news!

Silly receptionist told me she could make me an appointment for tomorrow!! I told her I couldn't wait that long cause it was about my pregnancy and I was worried now. Should be getting a call back soon hopefully...

Wish me luck

Hello Madmissey! - I just want to have buttered toast! Have lots of apples from the garden so will be making compote & crumbles. The things I normally like for snacks I just don't feel like.

I got some cardi's & tops in h&m - really pleased with these and I'm wearing my isabella oliver long skirts I got some years ago. They don't sell them any more which is a shame as they're long and not fitted although they do have stretch. Still looking for some long skirts! I also have a mothercare moda brand skirt from two yrs ago but it's not really long enough - although I'm wearing my super compression tights with over the knee socks in black. Saw a long denim skirt on jojomamanbebe but it's only in size 8!!!! I need a few sizes larger!
yeah i need to up my fruit i think blush

mybox hows the clothes hunt going?

I am absolutely shattered all the time too - like a return to week 8, glad to hear it's not just me being lazy!

Hope all are okay.

Is anyone elses baby reeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaally active? DP thought (he never said but I can tell) I was exagerating so I kept showing him just how much my belly was moving and its been like it all day! I have been extra hungry today so maybe the extra food is making him/her extra active but honestly I feel like I've had a weeks worth of movement in one day!

There's a bump an inch or two to the right of my belly button which I think must be the head as it doesn't change shape/size etc and the kicks are all about the same distance but down a little to the left of bbutton so does this mean its transverse?

Just got back from 28 week appt - all well but measuring small for dates so will probably get a late scan. Had exactly the same first time round so not worried.

And mw thought I'd received the flu jab letter in error so better look into that. Might save me a decision!

Mybox, I'm not surprised you're tired looking at your 'done' list.
omg not even started on xmas!

well i was feeling fab but woke up at 3pm after a 2hr sleep lol
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Wed 23-Sep-09 13:33:27
Tired out as well - could lie down rest in the day if I could!

Also feel like getting everything sorted out for xmas (have started on pressies & stockings & have stuffing & bread sauce mixes!!) & the house sorted out as well. Up to date with all washing & ironing. Getting gardening done as well. Keep thinking I wont have time later.
Hey everyone.
Had my growth scan yesterday, even though im the incredible shrinking pregnant woman the baby seems to be growing perfectly fine and rinsing all calories from me!
I asked again about sex of the baby and, again they said girl so im a bit more confident about it now. (still not going to rush out and buy lots of pink though!)
DS wasnt in the slightest bit interested at looking at his sister on the screen, he was more interested in my tummy being prodded with the scanner.

Is anyone else desperate for maternity leave to start? I cant do anything at work other than sit/stand behind till and its really boring.
yes, still tired. Not ridiculously exhausted but feel generally weary. Think that being at work doesn't help! Plus DH has in his words 'broken his knee' playing five a side, so consequently unable to do anything other that sit with feet up watching TV (apparently...ha ha.)
It is a good job it isn't a few weeks later, or i think I might have broken his other knee in frustration!!!
I get tired now if i walk into town and back, i really pay for it later, but so far not doing too bad. Maybe becuase DH is tired at mo too we have been getting some early nights, like 9.30pm and it helps.

dd is going back to nursery next week, so have a day (well 9-3) of quiet, which i know will be a godsend in a few weeks. Finding being back at school hard work though, uniforms packed lunch and reading (x2) every day, plus dd and bump.

I see MW a week today, havent seen her since 16 weeks, lol.

hi.... am absolutely worn out and on light duties at work so its not that. i have set myself a target of one 'job' a day so tonight i sorted out all the wet / dry/ ready to put in the machine washing etc..... tomorrow a bit of ironing otherwise i would stress about doing 'nothing' baby was head down last time i saw mw but not sure now!! HOw can you tell???? its moving like mad now!!!!!!!!
hi all tired here too lol!
other than that i feel great oh except the spd and the constant rib pain lol

ds is flipping from transverse to breech lol if hes going to turn hope its soon as that feeling of turning when they get bigger makes me want to puke now!

Just calling in to say hello. Is anyone else feeling insanely exhausted? DD went to her grandparents on Sat so DH and I could start on turning the spare room into her new room, I spent most of the time sitting on the floor directing him! Every time I do anything at all I feel completely knackered for hours after. That plus the fact that I have no appetite because the baby's head is currently rammed up my ribs makes me feel as if I'm about 40 weeks not 29....!

Oh well I'm sure it could be a lot worse. Hope you are feeling better goldensnitch.

Just read your replies on the flu vaccine - I will have it when it's available as I have kids at school & dh will have it as well if he can. I think kids can have it as well - will ask gp tomorrow.

hi guys im new on here, been posting on another site but can get a little quiet sometimes.my names claire im due with 1st baby on 13th december, had a m/c 2 years before i fell pg with this one.dont know what we're having,as my mum says ill have what god gave me!!just wanted to introduce myself will post again soon, and keep reading your posts if you dont mind!
claire x
We are still having name issues, between Lacey and Maisie. No middle name ideas, though we are easy going on middle names really. I wish someone would just say 'X is her name'. I prefer Lacey, DH prefers Maisie, but dd1 is Millie and i fear Maisie and Millie is a bit 'twee'.
Hi GoldenSnitch just seen your thread on the names page - we are having same issue. thoughtwe had a name sorted, but DH has now discounted it for good. back to the drawing board!
Got my blood test tommorrow to try to work out why I've been feeling so sick and dizzy all the time.

I have a feeling they're going to say "because your pregnant"

I'm glad my babies look like theyre going to be taller than short-arse little old me but it does make them harder to carry!!
i don't think I will have the injection if i am offered it...
hope everyone is ok. been feeling very tired today
Yes Scorps, still home alone but I've managed to keep lunch down so I think maybe bump was just playing football with my stomach this morning.

Was horrible though and has left me with a sore throat

I won't be having the flu jab. As far as I undertand it, swine flu is currently no worse than normal flu and the majority of people are getting very mild cases. Any deaths are no more than would be expected from normal flu. I know both adults and babies who have had it and been fine. It worries me that the vaccine won't have been tested on pregnant women and could potentially do more harm than the flu too.

DS isn't school age and I am a SAHM so we can keep ourselves pretty isolated if needs be. The jab scares me, I won't be having it and neither will DS.
GS - Poor you sad are you still home alone? My DH always leaves me to struggle through as well.

No, no flu jab (S.Flu jab) for me.

Have had a letter from my Doctor offering flu jabs and am now trying to decide whether to go for it or not. What have you lovely ladies decided?
Just texted DH to tell him I'd been sick and that when I came back from being ill, I found DS playing with the cloth he had used to clean the poo off the cockatiel's cage - which I tried to bin immediately afterwards but he insisited on keeping so he could use it again before she goes back next week. We agreed he could keep it if he put it out of the way. He left it on the bottom of the trolley her cage sits on!! - and got the reply back "could be worse"

Grrr, all I wanted was a little sympathy!
No headache today but I have already been sick

Had my usual Teacakes and Orange Juice then was sick about half an hour later. Am a little worried as I also had spots before my eyes but I think that was down to being sick.

If the spots or the headache come back, I'm phoning the midwife!
Have had a headache all day

Am drinking loads and hope it's gone by tomorrow
I'm going to start next month. Just as soon as we have the bedrooms swapped over else I'll have nowhere to hide anything.

Got to start getting some stuff in for bump too and get all the baby clothes out of the loft and washed.

Such a lot to do!

Im going to start Xmas shopping soon, want to get everything wrapped and put away in plenty of time.

Enjoy the woods Scorps, its a lovely sunny day here, im just prepping a nice big roast then we off out to the park, let DS run off some of his tireless energy.
We will be doing Xmas very soon, we have 4dc to buy for so need to get it done very soon!

Taking dc to the woods today, dd loves leaves at the mo hmm grin so will put her in wellies and run around. DH making fish pie for tea today, a la Hugh F-W.

Anyone else getting organised for xmas? In the next weeks I'll get the pressies & wrap them up. Also the stockings sorted out.
Just ordered DS's new Big Boy bed so we can move him into his new room next weekend and he can get settled in before his sister arrives

Has anyone any idea how long it should take for antibiotics to start having any effect on an ear infection? Am in a lot of pain, as is in both ears, i cant hear due to lots of fluid, and paracetamol are only taking the edge off the pain. Ive been to my dr,s twice in four days, been taking ab,s and steroid eardrops for almost three days now, but no change at all.

scorps - did you just add some to your dinner?
My ds1 is ASD (dyspraxia) so doesn't really notice/have affection for my bump.

ds2 feels her kicking and talks about his new baby sister, though he is not sure that dd2 is as nice as dd1 grin(they hugely love each other, loads)

Mimi is only 17 months today so i don't think she really gets it at all. I think she will find it hard when dd2 is here, becuase Daddy will want to cuddle the new baby sometimes too. She hates it if DH & I cuddle or kiss grin. Daddy's girl big time.
Salt is my tip.

Anyone having leg cramps? Woke up last night with a horrendous cramp in the back of my left leg - lasted 10 mins. Had these before with my other pregnancies & never found a cure. Any tips?
It's so lovely hearing how everyone's DC's are coping with their pregnancies. My DD (19m) has started coming up and saying baba and trying to tickle the baby through my belly button grin It's very cute but unfortunately it just makes me feel queasy and want to throw up hmm

On the plus sidethere are a few new babies in my family and DD hasn't batted an eyelid at me or DH holding them. Her grandpa on the other hand...all hell breaks loose if he holds them grin
Hope everyone is ok. i have been so tired today. this is the first day i have had in ages where i hav felt really shattered. Good job i am off work tomorrow! but bad news, am off to the in-laws!! ha ha!
Aw MrFlibble, that's so cute. Not surprised you got teary!

DS has the ELC fireengine which he loves! So I can recommend that one I think baby is going to bring her big brother a Roary the Race car that you can unscrew the bits on. He'll think it's amazing.

Now and again, DS will run up and wrap his arms round my tummy and say "squeeze". He likes feeling for kicks too. He does talk about "My sister" and will say "Hello baby" to the bump so I think he gets it but it must be a very hard concept for a 2 and a half year old to grasp.

I'm sure they'll both make fantastic big brothers.
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Thu 17-Sep-09 11:05:01
Awww, bless your DS, they are so lovely. My DS who is almost 4 cant wait to meet his new brother, he comes up and cuddles my bump and kisses it and shours 'Ellis, its your brother here, are you awake?' and babs kicks and squirms like crazy..smile
However, we have had some naughty behaviour from DS lately, and the other night he asked me to wrap him up in his blanket 'like a baby' so im wondering if he is starting to feel a bit unsettled at the thought of someone else sharing the attention he gets fom me and DH?
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Thu 17-Sep-09 07:21:42
His reactions sound good snitch. I would be worried if he was all out negative about babies but he seems to be really interested which is good.
I had a conversation with DS the other day about how I was talking to his sister and that she said she couldnt wait to meet him and that she asked what his favouite toy was, he shouted out "fireengine" and I said "yes thats exactly what I told her and she says she is going to buy you one for when you meet each other" He was sooo excited! he then gave my belly a cuddle and said "my sister"
I had to take a moment or two in the loo because I was sobbing so much!!! grin
We have his big boy bedding (which he loves) but no bed yet. DH seems to have stalled on that one. He decided the one we found was too expensive but hasn't looked for anything else!

DS doesn't seem to be bothered in any other way, he's still playing and eating well. He's totally fascinated when we see babys out. He even asked me especially if there would be babies at the new toddler group we went to yesterday.
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Wed 16-Sep-09 20:45:17
Its funny/strange how toddlers handle things isnt it.
DS sometimes does a little baby impression but hasnt been stubborn about it yet. Im not sure what to advise because as you know im in the same situation! Maybe get him to pick out his new bedding so he will be excited about it.
For the past week or so, DS (2.6) has been demanding to be swaddled the the bath towel as soon as he gets out of the bath. He won't stand and just lies on the floor or in our arms making this strange little croaking noise. We've managed to get out of him that he is being a baby.

He's done it during the day today as well.

We've not talked much about the baby recently but obviously I am getting bigger and it's getting harder to lift him and run around with him.

Do you think this is the start of major jealousy or just a funny toddler quirk?

We're supposed to be getting his new bed soon and I'm worried about pushing him if he's feeling funny about it all
glad went well annie

i agree claire just relax not necs sit on bum but chill out nothing that will stress you

Thanks very much for your best wishes ladies, thankfully everything seems fine smile. Mw took my BP 3 times over the space of 20 minutes and all were fine. She checked my urine sample, clear, had a feel of babs and checked his heart rate-nice and strong. Had bloods taken today as it was my 28 week appt also, and got my HIP form which ive sent off.
My best friend took my DS to play with her DS today , cos she was worried i looked shattered, as had very little sleep last nite, and i managed a good 2hr nap today smile

Claire-I would just take this opportunity to rest while you can. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that you,ll go at least another 7 weeks with babs safe inside.
annie - this happened to me when I was pg with ds. Spent a few hours in hospital being monitored & BP went back down & never shot up again. Try not to worry, it could just be a blip rather than an indiciation of anything more serious.

Saw GP today & have been signed off work until 29 Sept. He's quite happy to keep signing me off until I'm due to finish work but what I actually want to know is what I should be doing. I don't want to be sitting on my arse for weeks if there's no need. Seeing obstetrician next week so hopefully she'll give me more info. Tomorrow is my last day of tablets to stop me having contractions so fingers crossed they don't start again. Very scared I'll end up back in hospital.
oh annie scary hope you are ok. mines always opposite and very low bp and norm takes 2 attempts to get reading lol
Annie hope you're ok sounds a bit scary. My BP is quite hig normally, 110/80. Although i bet at home it would be less, i think i must get nervous on mw visits grin

Went to playgroup today, people only just asking if i'm pg and saying how small i am. I feel HUGE! lol.Don't see MW until 28 weeks but im happy with baby movements.
Hi all. Baby is moving around lots today and was last night too, so panic over!
I too am suffering with the acid in throat thing...not sure if technically it is heartburn or not, but I have been taking gaviscon for it and it seems to work.
Just worked out i have only 8 weeks left at work!! Yipppppeeeeeee!

Morning ladies, i have a mw appt in a bit, been feeling unwell all night, achey bump, sick, headache, anyway, got to work for 8am, got one of the dentists to check my BP and its very high, 164/110 was the highest shock checked it a few times to be sure and it did vary but couldnt get it below 156/95, Checked it on other members of staff too to make sure it was working ok, and its accurate.
Im terrified ive got PE but didnt have it with my other pregnancy, BP was textbook all the way through with that one, as it has so far with this one, usually 110/65.
Fingers crossed for me please, im really worried. Be back later.

Hi Bex, I was a bit worried last week cos I had two days of reduced movement. I'd just decided to go and see the midwife when baby did a huge somersault and has been kicking like crazy ever since. I think their movements might be less strong when they're facing the other way.

I had a horrid night last night, I woke up at 1am and kept getting a horrid acid taste in my mouth. I felt like I was going to be sick. I guess it was like an acid indigestion thing. Has anybody had any experience of this?

Its a worry for me too snitch. When DS was born we were really worried about the dog being jealous of him so we really lavished attention on the dog and then DS ended up acting really jealous towards the dog!! You cant win!
We have some weird nicknames in this house too - DS is quite regularly "Boing"!

I bought him a little blue doll from The Entertainer for £8. They're online too here

He has the ELC blue pushchair too.

He loves him. It's so sweet to see him cuddling the doll.

Swimming instructor asked me if DS was OK about bump yesterday when he wouldn't join in the lesson (he usually loves it) I've not been worried up until now cause he's seemed fine - talks about his baby sister etc - but I can't get it out of my head now. It might be that he's just a bit upset cause I spent all morning telling him off for messing with the cockatiel we're holiday sitting (but that's another story) - I hope so. I don't want him to feel pushed out.

Scorps I am quite liking Lizzie for short. But if she's anything like DS she'll get called all manner of weird and wonderful nicknames.

Yup ELC do Baby Max which is currently £35 with a free highchair, but that offer will be ending soon and we'll be selling just the doll for £25.
We also do giggling luke for £16 and 1st baby doll for £8 (those latter 2 are full priced so if you could find a voucher you could get 20% off the price)
My DS has just the cheapo one and that seems just the right size for him to hold (he's 2 and a half)
<knocks herself back out of work mode>
same here bex hes more quiet today i think if you count 10 movements throughout day thats what they aim for as guide (or it used to be! lol)
Thanks scorps think i am worrying over nothing, as she is moving about, just not crazily like she was the other night! hope you are ok.
OMG!! The link worked - that's a first!!
Millie - I know ELC do a doll that is a boy

here
Bex - dd2 moves less if i'm busy, or tired.
hello all. hope you all had a good weekend. have felt baby move several times today, but not quite as much as ususal. do you think she is just having a quiet day?! or is it something to be worried about? has been definite movement, just not quite as pronounced.
still not definite on the name. i still like perdita/purdy, DH still is wrestling with the 'pervy' thing..... i still like it and hope that i win the battle, as he has no good suggestions!!

Hi Kelly, congrats on your pregnancy.

Has anyone got or does anyone know of a doll thats good to get a toddler used to holding a baby? DS has a toy pushchair but at the moment he runs around with it at full speed. I've been reading and it sounds like a good idea but all the dolls I can find are pink and aimed at girls!
hi kelly welcome along the bumpy ride with us all grin

WooHoo!! Finally found the December group.

I am 27+5 weeks pregnant with my first and I'm due 09th Dec 09.

Been okay really throughout pg so far. Have enjoyed the pg so far, nothing much to report. Baby is doing well, somersaulting all day and night as well! Think I've been getting a few braxton hicks...well something like that anyway.

Good luck ladies I look forward to sharing stories etc
glad you are getting back in to a routine!
i would say its easier when they are back at school but lette is only half days except thurs so you get the constant coming and going lol

i like kitty
DH only likes traditional names.

I also liked Freya, Isobel and Madison but he said No
Very traditional names for ur dds, compared to me blush. I find naming them quite hard.
I had 2 boys and then Millie, when she was born we just wrapped her up ready to feed and the MW suggested we should check she wasa she....my heart has never beat so fast grin

I seriously cannot believe i have managed to have 2 lots of 2 grin

I'm doing ok thanks, getting excited about baby, pushchair, etc. Mimi is being a darling at mo as well, boys at school again and things seem ok
I want Catherine but DH isn't sure. With Katie or Kitty for short.

DS is Alexander and I think they go really nicely together.

Elizabeth may be on our list too
i don't think i will believe that this is a boy until he arrives! seems to good to be true we never have good luck lol

how have things been anyway as you're here! lol
I love Dexter too and will never get to use it

I like Carter, also Crispin and Cassius/Caspian
oh yeah sorry lol

well my girls are Scarlette and Isabella and we have chosen Carter for this little man grin

i love dexter!
That's nice, do you have a shorter name to call her or will you use full?
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Mon 14-Sep-09 13:12:10
I think I have mine set in stone.
Elizabeth.
Are you going to spill the name? If dd2 was a ds3 he would have been named Mason William or Dexter William
think its so much harder to choose when you have other names to match with lol

we had no girls names at all and only one boy name which is sticking

26 weeks today!

3rd trimester wahoo!
oh and re baby kick boxing (LOL) I can't wait to go back Thai boxing after the baby, proabbly about 8 weeks or so after a couple of times a week. yay!
Claire hope you feel better soon.

14 weeks Friday left for me....also Xmas day lol. 14 weeks isn't very long. I have got so much to get ready for Xmas, for the 3dc, DSS and DH. Have to get pushchair soon for the dd's, and a bouncy chair and I'm sorted for dd2.

I'm still umming and arring over her name. I want Lacey; DH wants Maisie(dd1 is Millie, ds1 is Reilly and ds2 is Jamie). Both of us 'can get used to' the others choice. I wanted to call dd1 Lacey, so i think i may have that as i will regret if i don't. Lacey what though?? ARRGGHH

DH and i doing ok.
Thanks everyone. 28 weeks today & feeling totally wiped out. Trying to be optimistic but so aware of every single little thing now that I think the rest of this pregnancy is going to be a nightmare. Hopefully it's a nightmare that lasts at least 7 weeks though.
thats really ouchy when its behind belly button!
She's booting me right behind my belly button at the moment and it's getting really sore now.

The sooner the better!!

Then I can get her booked into Kick Boxing lessons - she'll be a natural!

25 weeks today

Hopefully only 14 weeks left (98 days) as I'm probably having a section.

103 days till Christmas!!
yep we are 26 weeks tomoz! grin 99 days to go today lol!

i only know as i have a ticker on a site i mod on lol blush

What a scary time you've had Claire!. Sending positive vibes that babe stays put for a good few weeks yet.
I've just spent a very scary week in hospital & finally was allowed home yesterday. I noticed I was bleeding when I went to the loo at work & went to hospital. They kept me overnight & were going to discharge me the next morning until they examined me & found my cervix was open. They were monitoring me twice a day & were concerned about what I'd thought were Braxton Hicks contractions. I was then woken up one night with painful contractions so my medication was increased to try & stop them. It turned out I had an infection & things started improving quite dramatically after they started treating that & after 5 days bed rest I was actually allowed up. 8 nights in hospital & I'm now home resting & still on 8 tablets a day. It's unlikely I'll be going back to work but hopefully this baby will be staying put for at least another 7 weeks. Unbelievably frightening time & I've sent my husband out for an hour tonight just to prove to myself I can manage as I think it would be really easy for me to insist on having him with me at all times just in case. Feeling a bit spaced out from the whole experience & not sure what it's going to mean for the remainder of my pregnancy either physically or emotionally.

Think you might be right, I was hoping it was trapped wind but whatever it was by lunch time it had eased. Still got a small uncomfortableness on one side but I'm guessing thats a head or a bum.

Got my 25wk checkup on monday, quite looking forward to it :-)
yes prob how baby is lying ds is laying across me so i have similar

Hi girls, has anyone experienced a hardness across the bottom of their bump? Doesn't feel like a BH, could it be constipation even though I went yesterday? Been like it since I got up and is quite uncomfortable. Top of the bump is fine but the bottom feels hard and is hard to the touch.
hiya newbies!

bump02 we have same due date!
Oh Fibble sad Hope you feel better today. Take their advice and take it easy.

Am a tad jealous of you getting to hear some new ones arrive grin

Oh dear I ended up down the delivery suite last night till about 11pm
Honestly thought I was in labour. It was agony, apparantly its my ligaments and bones. I need to take regular paracetamol and take things very slowly.
I heard a total of 3 babies being brought into the world which was nice! smile

Okay I have finally added girl to my name on the list - hope it works!

Is anyone suddenly feeling "properly" pregnant? I know that sounds a slightly odd thing to say at 28 + 2 but I suddenly feel bigger and more cumbersome. I think it's becuase my bump was (and still is I suppose) small, albeit measuring normal, and lots of people didn't realise I was pregnant until not very long ago so I could ignore it a bit! I have just started to feel like I am walking differently and that it's all geting a bit real now - I suppose that's 3rd trimester for me [smile[!

You get approx 999 posts on a thread. We have a little while yet...
have got my health in pg form! Yippee! just seen mw, heard heartbeat etc, so all good.
at what point will this thread be full? do we need to set up a new one soon?
had better go and do some work anyway
Oh I have never heard of that with the tens before I was using it with ds before 37 weeks (midwife recommendation) I will look it up though. Thanks

Welcome! I thought tens wasn't allowed until 37wks as it can trigger labour? My leaflet says if you want to you can test it on your wrist but only briefly.

Somewhere there is a list of names/dates so make sure you add yourself. xx
Hoorah!! I found you all heehee I am so slow at this mumsnet lark lol

I am in week 25 of pg and I'm due 21st Dec 09 and have ds 8 years old.

Been okay really throughout pg so far. Have bad sciatica, but been to pg yoga and tens machine came out this week. Baby is doing well, getting lots of kicks, and think I have been getting one or two braxton hicks...well similar to that anyway.

Good luck ladies I look forward to sharing stories etc smile

Trousers or skirt, I know it just means spending money as I only have maternity jeans/combats. Looks like I'm going shopping tomorrow! I knew denim was a no no, just needed to hear it from someone else. DP said it would be ok but what do men know.
how about trousers?
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Thu 10-Sep-09 21:59:43
My gut feeling is no aswell but I'm so reluctant to spend money on something I know I'm only going to wear once and I've seen myself in a maxi dress and it really didnt suit me!
i wld not wear denim to a wedding personally but how about a maxi dress that way yo can weare comfy shoes? and no tight waistband etc

Hi girls - just want to ask your opinion on something...

I'm going to a wedding in october, it's a small do in a local village, a young couple who are a bit (in their words) 'hippy' so won't be anyone in posh cocktail dresses or anything like that. Is it ok for me to wear a really nice black chiffon (maternity) floaty top BUT with a denim skirt and brown knee high boots?

I'm struggling to find something that I like but isn't expensive and as it'll only be worn the once. I'm thinking of wearing my knew mamasandpapas skirt and my smart brown boots BUT the skirt is denim and isn't denim a huge no-no for a wedding? I want to be comfortable but dont want to look like I haven't made an effort.
seeing mw tomorrow morning so hoping i will get my form, as it is my 28 wk appt! them am WFH....so you might see me on here during the day! wink
god thats my next step as i am not entitled to the mat one from work as earn to little lol
Yes I did mean the surestart one, shame you don't get it, it looks rather nice!

I filled out the forms for my Maternity Allowance (equivalent to maternity leave) today and that looks rather good too. It's rather profitable having a baby if you're self employed and officially a bit poor
You can claim it up to 3 months after the birth, if that helps.
yes the sure start is the £500 i have never been eligible either but had nothing but bad luck which has out is in poo situations lol so at least we can get some help!
Do you mean the Sure Start Maternity Grant?

We're not eligible for that one. Pity, £500 would be great.
It was the health in pregnancy one I was thinking of which I think is £190?

What's the £500 one?
yeah cant wait to send off for the £500 one is it at 29 weeks that one?
GS is it the £500 maternity grant you're after? I downloaded the form today and filled it all in apart from one bit which the midwife has to do. Might be quicker to do it that way than wait to get one from them?
ooh i have black nice!

grr at the form why not just make a appt at 25 weeks i would!?
I'll be getting rid of my "Pistachio" Silvercross 3D when I get the new one if anyone's interested....

I've got the extra's kit with the matching babybag, parasol and pushchair cosy toes too.
I want a Sport. In black I think Little pink blankets wouldn't 'go' with a red one grin

24 week check went well. Dr says my blood pressure is fantastic (which is good cause it was low) and that urine is fine. Found baby's heartbeat straight away and it sounded good and strong. He even suggested getting a full blood count test done to see if there is a reason I'm feeling so wobbly all the time.

Can't get my Maternity Grant form from him though apparently, have to wait till I see the midwife at 28 weeks! Got my appointment all sorted but it means I have to wait another month!!

And, I have to wait 12 days to get my blood test done cause they can't get me in any sooner! shock Good job it's not urgent!
oh and have decided not to even faff about with buggy boards this time around lol

dd1 was just 21 months when dd2 arrived and the amount of double to single then double then single moments i had is not even worth thinking about so this time

p&t stays and then can be double or single
i just sold a p&t lol
and erm brought another grin superb buggy i've had them all but the dash and have stuck with the sport.

I have to say that P&T's are great workhorses and last years, so you can get a second hand one and it functions just as well as a new one but so much cheaper. We got ours second hand with all the extra bits and pieces and cozytoes footmuffs as well for £200. Ebay do great second hand ones and i would definitely recommend. You don't get shiny new shop bought but you do get a great buggy and it is relatively cheap to replace any parts if they need replacing (although they do last a long time these buggy's so should be fine)
My DH is notorious for being tight, therefore spending the best part of £400 makes him squirm. Especially as we have to buy a bed and new bedroom furniture for DS too.

He is of the opinion that (2 and a half year old) DS can walk and therefore our old buggy should do just fine. He is of this opinion cause he hardly ever goes shopping with DS and when he does, I am there too to help herd and hold him. He is aware that DS runs off, sits down when we're not going in the direction he wants and regularly asks to be picked up and carried but as he deals with it so infrequently, he doesn't think this is too much of a big deal. DS can also get his hand out of wrist reins.

I have a Polo so the P&T is about the only double that will fit in my boot and DS's sitting protests mean a buggy board won't work. Plus, my silvercross is impossible to push with one hand while holding reins (which wouldn't solve the sitting even if they were chest ones) or carrying DS. And - it looks like I'm going to end up with a section too so I won't want to be running after or carrying him.

A double buggy seems, to me, to the best option. Especially as it can become a single buggy again in the future.

Might try your arguement Scorps - I don't interfere with/offer opinions on/balk at the price of your computer bits - now leave me to order my double buggy!!

I bought a second hand P&T when i was 14 weeks blush DS1 loves it and we sold our single pram. We figured if anything went wrong it is so much more comfy than our single anyway as it is bigger and as a 2 wheeler much easier to handle one handed. A great purchase and once the DC1 have outgrown it, it still only take sup the same space as a single buggy, whereas the side by sides take up a lot of room. Highly recommend!
Is your DH reluctant? Mine is used to me and pushchairs grin, and if he ever says anything, i say i don't comment on his purchasing of tools (he is a builder) so he shouldn't comment on mine grin

I'm unresonably excited. I will probably order it in a few weeks, as i'm only coming up to 25 weeks now. After buggy i only have a bouncy chair left to buy, but think i will buy a Graco sweetpeace swing.
There's a place near me doing a P&T with a doubles kit, cocoon and double raincover for £390 too.

Still working on DH...[frustrated]

I've just seen the posts re lucozade and I blame that stuff for me having to transfer to hospital with DS. My sister worked for GSK at the time so got me a crate of 12 bottles of lucozade sport.

I think I had a wee around 6pm ish and then started getting regular strong contractions at 8pm and by 5:30am the following morning I'd drank 7 bottles and reeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally needed to wee but couldnt so 1hr later DS was pulled out via forceps at the hospital. I won't be making the same mistake this time round!
dd as in dd1. dd2 has snowsuits ready, plus i will line cocoon with a fleecy blanket or buggy liner or something.
this is what i am buying

In local baby shop, its £390 for buggy and double kit, £23 for raincover and £52 for cocoon = £465. The one above is £415 = chuffed grin. Have decided against footmuff as bought dd a hideously expensive lovely snowsuit instead.

Only 92 days for me, eek! I started my christmas shopping today. Thought I better be organised this year as christmas shopping with a huge baby bump/tiny baby might be rather tricky!
scary when really xmas is just around the corner!! funny how im well prepared for baby boy but not xmas hmm
My EDD was the 25th but they added 2 days at the 12 week scan.

So much to do before she gets here but I half wish it was sooner
Xmas day is 15 weeks Friday grin (my EDD)

3 months today for me! Haven't worked it out in days yet ...
Just worked it out - 108 days to due date. Hopefully with at least 7 to be taken off for good behaviour c-section
im on countdown too pmsl

102 days!! blush
People keep asking me how many weeks there are till christmas...baby is due on the 27th December so I'm counting down grin
Got my 24 week GP appointment tomorrow. Hoping to whinge about feeling sick all the time and get my grant form...
hehe they are getting big now! 103 days to go for me lol

sent of the pg grant today too
i am currently just watching my dancing belly! baby is going crazy tonight!

LaDiDaDi-I was wondering why they tilted the table in the operating table when i was having my c-section, now i know-lol!

madmissy-im having the dancing belly, and a weird almost painful feeling when LO drags his fingers/toes across at the bottom of my bump near my pubic bone.
ohh ok not that its comfy anyway lol but its nice for 2 mins to have back flat

is anyone else getting the dancing belly yet and the painful arms and legs across?
It's the venous drainage from your legs to your heart that it limited by lying flat on your back, this makes your heart pump harder and makes you feel dizzy and unwell. It's why if you have a section they tilt the operating table over to the left.
oh right.
in all 3 of pg's never even been mentioned to me, unless this is another new find? the amount thats changed from dd1 to now is madness
Because the weight of your uterus is then supposed to crush your Inferior Vena Cava cutting off blood supply to both your legs and the baby.

Apparently.
why would you not lie on your back? [confused face]
If I were you - I would keep Camilla then (depending on your sewing skill) either stitch or safety pin an empty pillow case to her by one short end, about halfway down, then attach the long side of normal pillow to the other short end..so you end up with a sort of uneven H shape.

You sleep on top of the empty pillow case with Camilla in front to support your top leg, top arm and bump and the other pillow behind will should stop you rolling onto your back.

Why did I not think of this earlier!?!?!

Now I need my own 'Camilla'!! grin

DH would go mad that I wasted something like £30 on the Dream Genii though
Looks good. I will persevere with 'Camilla' and if it doesn't get any better, might have to invest. I get a sore arm as well every night from lying on my side with my arm out. 3 months and counting.....

I have one of these which I've found stops me rolling onto my back as the two pillows are attached to each other so the one behind you can't roll out of the way.

It's not perfect though as I found I ended up with a sore shoulder from where my top arm fell down across my chest and pulled my neck muscles. So now I have another pillow in front of my chest too to rest my arm on. I need a separate bed just for me and my pillows!!

Bex, Im the opposite I keep managing to roll onto my front when im asleep! Its driving me mad, I dont know how I do it?!
I love lucozade. Was never sure if you were allowed it while pregnant though...

Obviously you are grin
oh i had a hospital one not actual luco (which i dont mind) its was awful euww lol
hey beffnal, i'm not too hot on the blood taking, but i always just look away and that seems to work for me. i really wouldn't say it was in anyway awful and i am not good with the whole pain thing. definitely take some trashy magazines and make the most of the free time!
Madmissy i think i must be a bit strange because I actually like lucozade. The nurse told me that most people don't like it, but i was loving it1 And by all accounts the alternative to lucozade that they offer is pretty rank, so it semed the lesser of the two evils to me.
Only downside is a big bruise on my arm from the bloods, but that is it.

have started using a bolster in bed to try to prop me on my side so i don't roll onto my back. is sheer comedy, you have never seen anything like it. the bolster is massive, like a 3rd person in the bed...in fact, my DH has christened it 'camilla'.... and don't think it actually makes any bloody difference anyway as still seem to roll onto my back.

hi ladies, well today has been fun!!

Was on my way to get DS from school this afternoon, got halfway up the street and tripped on some uneven pavement and twisted my ankle and grazed my knee sad

my ankle is now swollen and is turning blue... I'm pretty sure its just sprained and not broken. ive put ice on it and elevated it, is a trip to gp/a&e nessasary or do you think i should see how it goes??
DP wants me to go to a&e but im really tired and dont think is worth it...

thanks
I think Northampton is our next closest Millie but even that's a bit of a trek...

Feeling better this afternoon, just a bit headachey but this morning was horrible. Hoping it's better tomorrow.

GSnitch - MK is definitely the one for you then it's just I know a few people who were in the middle of MK & Stevenage so could have gone to either.

I think everyone has faint and queezy days, not that it makes yours feel any better but try not to worry. Hope you feel better soon xx
I live in MK Millie so I'm about 10 mins away from MK General. It would take me almost an hour to get to Stevenage (plus getting lost time) and as I'm due really close to Christmas (27th) with all the extra traffic problems that causes, I'm not sure I'd want to risk it!

I couldn't sit at all when in labour with DS, not even in the wheelchair from the maternity to the labour ward, never mind have an hour in a car!

I've been feeling really grotty today - very faint and rather queezy. I think it's just blood sugar as eating seemed to help for a while and I've now got a headache but I'm scared its PE again. It was the nausea that was the first thing to start last time! Seeing the doc for my rountine 24 weeks appointment on Thursday so wil have a chat with him then.
The baby i mc'd was conceived when i was still BF, i hadn't really had a proper period though we were trying. I'm not having anymore children, will get a coil put in a 6 months postnatal and use condoms/possibly Persona until then.

Goldensnitch - if you're that close to MK couldn't you go to Lister in Stevenage instead? Thats where I had DS and I also worked there for a bit, the staff are lovely.

Scorps - I had a mc at 8 wks on 12th march and then conceived on 1st April so I know about being scared / falling pregnant quickly! When we conceived on 3rd Jan that was also our first 'go' so gonna have to be extra careful next year!

Going to Leicester hospital today to see the surgeon, for some reason im really dreading his reaction to my pregnancy, even though he was the one who told me not to wait and to have another child sooner rather than later.

Plus my mother is taking me because DH doesnt want to use up to much holiday and I KNOW she is going to get all emotional because she has never seen all the scans and x-rays only ever heard of them second hand even when I was a teenager, so it will be all new for her and tbh the scans look really scary!
Help!
I dont think I can handle my mum blarting it'll only make me do it.

Sorry I know none of this is pregnancy related, but I need to vent somewhere the only forums I can find for this op are full of teenage girls!!! grin
only awful thing us the taste of drink lol the rest was fine

Thanks Bex. Just not looking forward to having multiple blood taking - I felt quite nauseous and faint when they took blood at my booking in appointment. But that might have just been first trimester sickness! Just got myself a bit worked up about it as have heard a few people say it's awful. Shall take your advice though and think of it as a nice morning off work!
euuwww at the GTT test it tasted worse that lucozade to me <<shudders>>
i think you could manage it
Hey Beffnal

GTT was fine as long as you don't mind:
a) having blood taken; and
b) drinking lucozade!

It was really fine, just a lot of sitting around, but as I have been having a very stressful time at work of late I was quite happy to have the opportunity to sit and do not very much! What specifically are you worried about? Honestly, don't worry about it.

The baby will probably be under 6 months old, my surgeon likes to work on adults during school time so he can do the same op on children during summer hols so they dont miss school. If not then it means I would have to wait another year.
How old will your baby be? It is doable yes but your breasts may be engorged and sore, which is painful (a bit, but i suppose you will be on painkillers lol) until you empty them (which you would with expressing iyswim).

It's not silly to ask about BF, i asked loads of random questions grin
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Mon 07-Sep-09 18:15:29
This is going to sound stupid (Ihave no idea about expressing) but how long could you wait between expressing, would be in surgery the second time for about 8 hours then obviously would need to recover/wake up before expressing? Is that doable?
LaDiDaDi, I didn't get admitted for the PE until I was already 40+4 so maybe that's why they're not so worried. I got almost to term before I showed any symptoms at all.

I've had no asprin and only had the doppler to listen for babys heart at the routine check ups.

Never got HELLP as far as I know although I only found out a lot of things about last time when I asked specific questions at my "birth afterthoughts" meeting.

MK Genral isn't the worst maternity unit in the country for nothing!!

That sounds like a nasty Op Flibble! Hope it all goes well!!
If you were to BF, you would need to freeze milk in advance to feed, plus keep supply going in hospital by further expressing (say a few oz every few hours), which you could store in hospital fridge, in bottles.

Mc was in feb, then got pg with this baby quite soon after = very scared!

Baby is giving me some HUGE kicks unfortunately she is feet down so they all seem to be in my bladder im not sure what I prefer feet under my ribs causing pain or feet in my bladder!

Scorps youve got me wondering about my op now if I did manage to establish bf how I would go about it, first op would involve deflating my lungs and removing ribs second op 2 weeks later would need me to recover on my front. Good question to ask my surgeon tomorrow!
Im so sorry to hear about your miscarriage.
GS, I went for a prenatal counselling appointment and I was advised re the risks and to go on aspirin 75mg od from the time of a positive pregnancy test, if my dopplers had been poor on Thursday they woud have increased the dose to 150mg. I had all of the symptoms you describe last time, had a bit of proteinuria from 30 weeks but bp was ine until 32 when I became extremey ill one day and developed HELLP syndrome as part of the PE. Had dd the same day.

I'm pleased we found out the sex too, dd keeps talking about her baby brother and how she's going to help him on the climbing frames hmm.
I'm not sure where I got that figure from - I remember reading it somewhere but I don't remember where i read it! 20-25% sounds a lot better

I didn't get the pains last time but had the headaches, flashing lights, fluid retention and nausea. Plus an elevated BP and protiens of +3 over 24 hours. I'm actually a bit concerned that no-one seems to be keeping an eye on me at all. All I've had is routine check-ups and no-one has made any special effort to ask me about swelling fingers or headaches! Seeing the doctor on Thursday so looking forward to getting checked then.

Took it as easy as possible over the weekend so feeling OK today. Took DS to swimming lessons this morning and had to not do the lifting up in the air as it gave me really bad pulling pains across my section scar

Baby is good and wriggly though which is good. She was giving me some really quite sharp kicks last night and you could see huge lumps appearing and disappearing on my tummy! Look very strange.

Ds is getting more excited now. He pats my tummy and tells me his baby sister is in there. I'm glad we found out the sex cause I think it's helped us all bond
Sorry to hear that sad maybe if your milk does come in in both breasts you could try also agree re surgery, Mimi wasa bottle refuser and if i had to have an op, it would have been a nightmare.

I FF my first 2 dc, but BF Mimi until 11 months, when a miscarriage stopped my milk. sad

I'm BF this one forever grin

scorps Im going to bottlefeed. With DS I only ever produced milk on one side and it was a genuinely uncomfortable experience. I have neuropathy which has given me no feeling down one side and underarm which incidently is the same side I didnt produce milk in, not sure how it could be connected but tis a very horrible non-feeling. Am hoping things will be different this time round but not holding my breath.
I know this is no excuse but I am also having major surgery after giving birth, so shall be easier when im having to stay in hospital.

Bex - I've got to have the GTT test in a couple of weeks and just wondered how you found it? I'm dreading it - is it as bad as it sounds?! Pleased to hear your results came back clear.
Tummy pains still there GS. I had pre-eclampsia last time too, who gave you the risk of 40-50% as I've been quoted 20-25% recurrence risk? How are your aches and pains? Any better?

Anyway, they are monitoring me more closely and I had 23 week dopplers which looked good, midwife checked my BP on Sat and it was fine, 90/50, and no proteinuria so I keep thinking that it can't be that but it is still a niggly worry. I had pain with the PE last time and it was a bit different tothis, duller and didn't really go way, whereas this reallymakes me wince/gasp but then subsides after a minute and I feel fine.

Well done your DS2 Scorps. Dd started nursery today and we already need to start thinking about which primary school she will go to, need to apply by 23rd of Oct!

I'm off to get changed out of my smart work things, been wearing support tights today and I feel like I'm going to melt!
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Mon 07-Sep-09 12:06:18
MillieMuffin - Support tights would help this. I have circulation problems in my legs & have to wear medical compression tights but if you veins are just starting to come up some proper maternity support tights would help. Also ask your doc about it going away.
ABF - Are you going to try BF? Or did you get the bottles for EBM? <<nosey>>
Sorry for those with aches and pains and sickness sad

I'm just over 24 weeks now baby kicking lots

It's my ds2 first day at school today, bless him. He went in so well [proud]. So just me and Mimi at home now! (she is 16 months). Very happy grin

DH & I are so-so. Well he is fine, I am still so-so. hmm
How's the tummy pains today LaDiDaDi?

Could be anything but might be worth seeing the midwife if they carry on as pain in your upper abdomen can be an early sign of pre-eclampsia.

I had it in my last pregnancy so have a 40-50% chance of getting it again so I'm madly symptom spotting on myself.

Not trying to scare you - it's probably it's just things moving for baby or a spicy meal...
Well Milliemuffin, mine haven't or at least I've definitely still got some from last time...

I've had lots of tummy pains today, high up above my bump. Not heartburn though, almost like weirdly positioned wind. Hope it goes soon.

Anybody got little patches of light purple veins on their legs? I've got the obvious dark nasty looking veins but have found two separate purple patches of really thin veins, spider veins I think they're called? I'm assuming these also disappear after pregnancy?
Hi annie, It's still uncomfortable but I'm coping. Thank you for asking

I sprained my sacro-ileac a couple of years before I had DS and had to see a chiropractor for years afterwards. It was really painful when I was pregnant with him although only on the one, sprained side.

We bought a new bed before DS was born though and it's not been a problem since. It's a fab memory foam on springs one and really helped take the pressure off it while I slept.

It's definitely both sides this time though so I think it's more down to the pregnancy than my previous injury (although I would bet that's not helping).

Have bought myself a bump support band and a support pillow for sleeping and am seeing the doc on Thursday for my 24 week check-up so I will ask him about it then. If he can't suggest anything other than what I'm doing then I may book in with an osteopath.

I am enormous - must remember to do the toilet roll challenge - and am also getting pain in the muscles down the front of my legs!! Next person who looks at me open mouthed when I tell them baby isn't due till December is likely to have me cry on them!!

Hows the back pain GoldenSnitch? I had that and booked appointment to see osteopath, he said its sacro-ileac pain, very common in pregnancy. He did some manipulaton and a few days later i was pain free! Might be worth giving it a go.

Well im 28 weeks on Tuesday, and bump is huge! Havent put weight on anywhere else and its all out front, it gets really achy. DH is convinced i look the same size i did when i was term with DS shock.

ABF - Next do delivery to their stores for free and then you just return it back to the store if you dont want it so it will only cost you if you decide to keep them.

We've cleared out the loft today to make some room and I got down DS's clothes from when he was a baby and my god I had no idea they were so small!
Why do people assume that being sick is just part of pregnancy?!

Once morning sickness is over, it just means you're ill like everyone else!!

Hope you feel better soon Sparkly.

Try drinking lots of cool water too - that always helps my headaches.

Those cool gel packs, or even a cold flannel on the forehead while you have a lie down wih your eyes shut can really help a headache.

I'm in cleaning/nesting mode too. I've bought and organised loads of storagestuff from Ikea and I've got two bags of dp's stuff for the charity shop.

I've been thwarted today as the joiner/builder was meant to come and start work on knocking out a cupboard in the nursery to be but he hasn't been able to come so I'm very disappointed. Once he's done that then I'll be decorating the nursery and getting the cotbed down from the loft etc. I'm then going to bundle up dd's baby clothes and ebay them.

I've just got some black slim leg maternity trousers from littlewoods and they are a really good fit and were only 20 quid. I've also got a couple of pairs from Next but don't get the suit ones, they made me look like I had a kangaroo pouch!

ABF - Next have some good maternity black trousers for only about £18/£20, might be worth a try?

We're moving ourselves into our back bedroom (currently just wardrobes and pc) so DS can have the front bedroom and baby can have the nursery but I'm determined to get it all done by mid november ish so DS can be settled in his new room as I don't plan on doing much during december! Anyone got any tips for hanging lining wallpaper? hmm
Ooh, tile scrubbing - I wanted to do that this afternoon but was too sore.

Never nested with DS. Hope it sticks, i'm tired of us being the family scumbags.
I have sorted and cleaned all the lower kitchen cupboards (dont applaud me yet ladies Ive only had my new kitchen since February!)
Im currently desperate to scrub the grouting between my bathroom tiles with bleach and a toothbrush.
Have already donated 4 bin liners of clothes and books to charity shop.
But its far too early for me to be nesting according to my mum! grin (we need a roll eyes emoticon on here)

Can anyone recommend somewhere to buy really small maternity work trousers (black) The ones ive got are now huge on me round the leg and bum and I cant seem to find any that fit. Its a nightmare, its getting really depressing having to go to work looking like shit.
Well, for the first time in a long time the house is in a state where I wouldn't be mortally embarrassed if the MIL suddenly popped round for a visit - which of course means she won't grin

It's great but the need to clean is being severly hapmered by the pain in my hips

It's all lower back pain, well, hip pain but at the top of my bum IYSWIM. Didn't have any pain with DS until much later in my pregnancy and then it was all on one hip where I'd been sleeping on one side a lot. This all over ache that makes me walk like a duck is definitely new - and horrible!
I have enjoyed my yoga for pg so far. Haven't really got chatting much to anyone there, but still good to have a bit of time to myself. Think perhaps when those who go to it who are 35 weeks plus have moved on, those of us who are 20-30 weeks might get chatting a bit more.

Had my GTT this morning, just waiting for antenatal unit to ring back with results. Fingers crossed....

not quite sure where the two 'has suddenly's came from there sorry, must proof read.

Oh the other thing is that I have a scan on Wed to try to work out why I keep having small bleeds. GP thinks it is just a cervical erosion or similar but wants to get the placenta etc checked out just in case. Am not particularly worried as all seems to be growing and baby is moving but would be nice to have any more serious problems checked out.

Hi all, just checking in. Am thinking of starting aquanatal and/or pilates fairly shortly mainly for the meeting other people aspect but also to give me some time to focus on the baby/being pg.

GS the instinct to nest has kicked in but the actual practicalities of getting up and doing it still seem somehow beyond me! Plenty of decluttering to do here if you get bored of the stuff at home!

DD has suddenly (2.1) has suddenly acquired a baby in her tummy too, he's called Charlie (no idea where that came from) she keeps lifting up our tops and rubbing tummies so that 'the babies can cuddle' - very sweet at home but slightly embarrassing when out! We also seem to have accidently potty trained this week which is great. I hadn't really intended to do it seriously yet but we went out and bought the stuff together and she's really taken to it... no accidents all week... yet... It's early days but really didn't fancy doing potty training with a newborn.
I never made friends at Aqua Natal/Yoga etc but still see 6 other Mum's from my Ante Natal class.

It's so lovely that DS has so many friends his own age to play with and I enjoy having other Mum's going through exactly the same stage as us too.

Nesting seems to have kicked in here. Am getting really into cleaning and de-cluttering at the moment. Can only be a good thing

Hi Bex - I started ante-natal yoga last night and found it very invigorating. Best thing is meeting other local Mums to be - am still in touch with many from last time (DS now 2). It's great to have someone to commiserate with (and have coffee with) when they're really wee.

This morning I put on a skirt I wore at about this time some of my last pregnancies and - it was too small!!!!! Sometimes I wonder if I look preg but I am huge lol
i love my aquanatal! its my get away lol

im jnackered after looking after the girls but its my time and love being in the water

as for BH mine wld sometimes be on off all day bloomin annoying and with dd1 they were painful enough that i had to stop and breathe
Just been to pregnancy yoga after a very stressful day at work and must admit i did find it very helpful in relaxing. I don't know how much of the breathing and stuff i will actually take through with me to labour, but i guess it is worth a try!

Have got my GTT on friday - hope it goes ok!

Hope everyone is ok.

Hi girls - anyone had BH lasting about 2hrs? I've read it's a sign of dehydration. Been feeling really uncomfortable since about 7:30 - before dinner as DP and I had late dinner tonight. I did have a little (actually quite big!) release of air just now blush so hopefully its partly trapped wind...
I wanted to do Aquanatal again this pregnancy but have no energy left after a day at home with my DS!

Tried pregnancy Yoga but the instructor kept asking us all to chant and 'visualise your Yoni' and it put me off hmm

I've got a low lying placenta and have been told to take things easy too - will have to check with the doctor to see if I am allowed to go.
well he knows wrong now and learning the hard way
I'm going to start pregnancy yoga again. I do go out with friends, etc.

He got so used to having his life, he was almost single really i guess.
yep a classic thing taking things for granted!

make sure you try and get some you time... i do aqua natal and thats my escape perhaps see if there is anything near you?
Well I'm getting better as for the first time i have control in this now. If he ever does anything, i will leave him. I actually may still leave anyway. He is very sorry, is doing everythign exactly how i want. He said something the other day - that he took us for granted before. Explains so much.
Oh Scorps

Wish there was something we could do to help.
I'm trying to get more into this pregnancy, but i guess that all this DH stuff is taking up all of my brain, pretty much. I do every day stroke her though and i do talk to her, look at her things etc.
I've visited 2 friends with little babies today...looking forward to having my own even more now grin
I had first and third (at home) babies waters broken for me. ds2 was born after about 10 minutes in the hospital and there was no time for an examination lol grin

no joke madmissy..... then when they stuck a giant cotton bud up me to check it was my waters and not wee i ended up bleeding and fluid dribbling so ended up with an incontinence pad!!!! No glamour there for me. They kept me in after that but i here they let you go home now if its your waters as i wasnt having any contractions. less germs at home i suppose and i ended up with infections so would def stay at home for that bit now..... although i dont think i can..... my mw has said i have to go straight in so they can treat me for the Strep B. We'll see.
Yeah I also want to experience my waters breaking, they had to do it for me last time.
Im getting nervous about seeing my surgeon next week he doesnt know im pregnant (whoops) but in my defence he did say not to wait till after surgery and it would be better to have a baby before not after so hopefully he wont be too shocked!

Seeing midwife in a couple of hours think the bump is being measured this time. No idea what to expect, some days I feel huge other day I feel as if im hardly pregnant at all!
pmsl really? haha

even just that i wld be hapopy with lol

had a epidural with dd1 and they buggered it up it came out and refused to believe me when i said it was not working finally believed me when they saw my soaking top all down my back hmm

so needless to say i was not up on it with dd2 lol she was gas and air and my birthing ball the baour itself was only about 2 1/2 hours and was great it was after that i had probs sad

my waters have never broken either always been broken for me. i hope they break on own this time!! i want that whoops feeling lol

i see. can i just say i am full of admiration for anyone that has managed without an epidural. I am def not having pethidine or any substitute this time round (very very sick last time with it) but am open minded about the epidural. i had the choice with dd between forceps or an episiotomy as she and me were tacicardic (cant spell!!!) i chose the latter so it was lucky i had had a epidural. would love to get through it on gas and air and have a feeling things are slightly less 'tight' down there this time round so fingers crossed!
No, i've never had an apidural, i just have a little bit of gas at the end. The pain helps me feel what my body needs to do, iyswim. I can have (but have never needed one) an episiotomy at home, but if i need a CS its hospital transfer.
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Tue 01-Sep-09 13:26:33
does it also mean no epidural?????? i was stopping myself breathing with every contraction with dd and an epidural was only was forward.... well poss not only way but the easiest for me!!!!!!!

that is a shot labour scorps.... i was 24 hours from waters breaking and being admitted to hospital and 10 hours actual labour. I live 10 mins from hospital max so am nice and close. Stupid question but what would happen if you needed an episiotomy or c section....... sorry if sound thick.
I don't think with strep B they allow you a HB anyway. I loved it; no travel, 2 midwives, own sofa/bed/bath/food...loverrrrly.

Here the delivery suite is a good 40 minutes away in normal traffic. Last labour was about 2.5 hours from first sche to baby in arms, i only realised i was in labour after an hour or so, lol. Didn't get much warning grin. DH thought i would be a while when i rang him and he stayed to finish his last pint hmm

I dont fancy homebirth to be honest...... too neurotic and cos of my strep B i have to have anti biotics in labour. HAppy to leave the mess for the hospital to clear up!!!!
is fine to have a little drink and still BF

When i had Mimi, she was born at 7pm and at 9.30pm DH & I were sat on the sofa with chamapagne and chinese grin
Hi, bit late I know but can I join you all on here. Knew this thread must exist somewhere but couldn't find it before also not ready earlier as still coming to terms with doing all this again when not planned shock

Madmissey - what a traumatic experience - this is the bit of childbirth you just don't get to hear about until after it's happened. Hope you wont have to go through that again.

Damnit - know what you mean. I think it's worse for those supporting the mum in labour sometimes as they think about everything that can go wrong whilst the mum is just getting on with the job in hand.

i too am really envy of homebirths. but my dh is really concerned about it. he said i can have one with dc3 if all goes well again this time grin

xmas plans going ahead as normal at the moment for us. We normally do presents at home then visit family houses all minutes away and then dinner at my mums, 2 mins away. if its all too much ill just say so on the day and they will understand. I think it will be easier to go out though and dd is not at the age yet where she needs to be at home she will be happy to take her toys with her.
mybox like you had aquick labour with dd2. once she was born the cord snapped and the placenta became stuck tried to push it out of ages but no joy started to become woozy and felt like i was bleeding loads said to dh and he went as white as a sheet pressed panic button lol was blood puddles on floor kind of gald i didnt see...

the pain was immense and they were prepping me for theatre and trying to get the placenta out at this point i had nails dug in midwives arm lol and 3 male docs debating between my legs hmm

i iwll never forget the young girl doc that strolled in gloves on and hand straight in lol i was screaming to get the feck out of me and then she got hold of placenta and that was that

i was too out of it to feed dd2 and cld barely open my eyes the nurse on ward was first to change her nappy

so when i was last at consultant she said to have hospital birth and i will need to be kept eye on to avoid same happening

Madmissy - not sure what happened with you but for me I had pph's after dc3 & dc5. With dc3 the placenta was half stuck and had to be manually removed. Was awful as I gave birth quickly just fine & then had to have an epidural to remove the placenta. The anesthetist was taking time to arrive so the doc said she'd have to do the procedure with no pain relief - I just said ok as it was like a tap running & I had whooshing sounds in my ears & felt awful. Anyhow the anesthetist arrived & it was hard to stay still as slipping about but epidural finally ok & placenta out. Very awful indeed.

With dc5 - some hours after the birth I got up & blood just wouldn't stop. The nurses had to clean the floor, bed & me and I had an injection of the drug to cause the womb to contract after the birth & had to lie down. Felt wiped out for about 2 wks after. Hb was 7 afterwards.

Would like a homebirth but don't think I qualify - will see. I had just a bit of monitoring last time & for dc4 no time for monitoring. I want to be upright & mobile.

LaDi - yes me too - a glass of champagne will be perfect.

Sparkly - good for you with your organization. Plus it's nice that your dd will hear the news from you

Mybox.... I am lucky to have a good relationship with my dds father.... my ex p. He is going to have a key and if we need him in the night he will come over and sleep on sofa and do the school run but will have a key if he needs anything. Just not sure whether to wake dd up and tell her what is happening or not. if it is a day we have friends to help or her dad or my parents but want my dd to be first person to find out what we have got!!!!!!
I agree with mybox re the alcohol. I will definitely be having a drink of something nice.
mybox----

did you have same problem as me then? fingers crossed for you! my consultant wants me in hosp and pretty much monitored hmm

Madmissy -I'd like to be able to have a homebirth as when I got to hospital for the last three it was just in time so may as well be at home as had no pain relief (no gas & air) but like you with the pph & placenta I don't think I can. I'm finding out though to be sure. (Lucky you Scorps to ba able to stay at home). It would easier as well as kids would be at home or on their way home from school with lifts from other parents (have to arrange this).
I'm due on the 27th but will probably be having an elective section so baby should be here sometime around the 20th.

We were supposed to be going to my Mum's but thats a 3 hour drive away so we've cancelled that. MIL has not yet offered for us to go to hers. Never know, it might be our first xmas at home. I've never been keen on the idea to be honest, I was one of 4 and we always had both sets of GP's over on the day. Chrostmas with 4 of us seems lonely in comparisson!

Would love to express and have a drink but am unlikely to have supply sorted enough to be able to have expressed much by 5 days and always thought you were supposed to give baby a couple of weeks to get used to nipple before trying a bottle to make sure they don't get confused.

Looks like its a dry xmas for me
Not sure of this, but if you are breastfeeding, but want to have a christmas drink, are you best to express milk in advance?? I can't think of anything worse than a drink free christmas (apart from a hungover boxing day i suppose, with a newborn to look after!) Don't want to go mad but would be nice to be able to have a few glasses of wine!
Christmas will be breakfast at home and then pile round my parents for lunch and maybe dinner depending how drunk me and my sister get!! (Oh and watch DC open their presents of course)
it is our turn to go to PIL for christmas, but as they live about an hour and 45 away from us, and we would probably have to stay over, we have decided we will probably stay at home. my mum lives about 40 mins away, (in the opposite direction) and so i think was hoping we would come to them, but DH is adamant we are not making any commitments! Baby is due 5th Dec, and is my first, so no experience of previous early or late arrivals, but both my brother and i were really late, so thinking that it could be during the last week before christmas when baby arrives.... if all goes well, might pop to my mums for a few hours and then drive back for the evening. Both our sets of parents live a bit out in the wilds, so is dependant on weather too! so who knows!
had better get on anyway, supposed to be finishing a dissertation this weekend...hopefuly the last bit of studying i will do for a loooooong time!
im soooooooo envy of the homebirths

i wld soooo loved one but with dd2 i had to have a manula removal of my placenta and i pph'd heavily

luckily did not need transfusion but chances of it happening again are very high sad

i sure hope not as i am very honest on that it was more painful than having dd2!
i am due on the 21st so to make things easy we are going to pil's its about 20mins away. then will head hoem fairly early to chill on own

depends really on when baby boy arrives..
mybox - i too will be home birthing and am worried about where my 3 will go.
LaDi - you're very brave to be doing travelling so soon after a cs!

I'm actually due on Xmas day. DH is having the week before Xmas off too (school plays, things to sort...). We will get as much pre-made (M&S, Tesco) as poss, and probably a turkey crown thing. DH will do all cookiing as each year anyway. We will be at home this year just like every year, baby or not! When i have the baby we will have people up for champagne and mince pies etc. Who knows when i will have her though...could be a week before or begininning of January! Pre-preparation i say! lol. Kids Xmas things will be bought and wrapped in October.

Your xmas arrangements sound super sparkly & Ladidadi.

Here we usually have family to stay or go to visit as everyone lives in other countries. This year we're staying put as due on the 15th. I'm hoping my sister will come and stay. I'll have all xmass pressies/stocking gifts sorted & wrapped early as dd was three weeks early - so mid November for getting all xmas things. I wont be cooking the usual huge lunch but will most probably do a scaled down version with easy things.

The issue for us atm is who will look after our other kids when I am giving birth & if dh is a work as others births have been very quick. Making a list of friends but they all have kids to look after as well & dh's who travel - so whilst they will help they might not be able to at a moments notice. Have three at school, one at preschool and one at creche two days a week - so three locations to consider. Would like a homebirth but not sure if it would be possible seeing I've had one c/s & two pph's - one for retained placenta that needed to be removed and the other just happened about 4hrs after the birth.
I did think that 1am didn't sound very civilised at all...smile.

I think that I'll just want to stay at home on Xmas Day like usual but not cook a big lunch and actually I don't think I want mum and mil cooking a big lunch in my kitchen. Not that I'm particularly territorial but I would still find it a bit stressful.

I think lots of party food nibbles from M&S might be the way to go with no proper cooking on the day. Could still cook a turkey and a ham the night before I suppose as I'll not be out partying!

We have a family breakfast where everyone comes about 1am to do crumpets, croissants, toast etc etc and its all very easy and civilised..........then they all bugger off and we do our Christmas picnic...... everything we love to eat on a rug in the lounge..... generally cold stuff so no cooking or at most a piece of beef for beef and onion sandwiches!!!!. we eat off paper plates and use plastic glasses so no washing up all day. its perfect!!!! then we generally tootle round to friends early evening for a christmas drink and then home to watch tele. we either do a 'christmas dinner' another day or just go out and let someone else cook it. Make it as easy as poss and give yourself as much time as poss with the kids!!!!
Can I ask if any of you have given any thought to Xmas arrangements??

We'd usually have my parents PIL and dp's brother round for presents and lunch on Xmas day. I'm sure both sets of parents will want to see dd (3.7 then) on Xmas Day. We also then tend to visit PIL and my aunt and family on Boxing Day. All relatives live within a half an hour car journey in roughly the same direction. If all goes to plan I'll be having a C. section the week before....so not sure what to do. Feel like I need to be very organised this year no matter what we're doing.
hows it been recently catz?

Madmissy - thanks for replying to my question about SPD a couple of days ago. Have read a bit about it and am sure that's what it is, thanks.

Sorry those of you who are having a tough time with DPs. Am very luck with DH, MIL always says she was determined not to have a son with the same attitudes that she saw in her friends DHs (and MIL is one determined woman so I don't think he stood a chance!)

Goldensnitch - don't worry my bro told me that I was the same size as one of his friends was at full term when I was 16 weeks! I am usually a size 8 and have so far put on 2 kgs this pg (well since my booking appointment, don't usually weigh myself so don't know what I was before) so this is frankly unlikely. I looked very concerned and said she must have had some serious medical issues. I think people find it difficult to judge pg women's size and have no tact.
A friend of DH's admitted to me that he'd been very distant and grumpy with his (now ex) wife when she was pregnant cause he was scared stiff but hadn't been able to admit it.

He was telling me cause I was fed up with DH after he ignored our anniversary and he wondered if bump could be the reason. Another friend who was expecting his third had become just the same apparently so it wasn't just a first time Dad thing.

Just wondering if this could be the issue for some of the other Dads to be?

Is anyone else feeling really run down? My entire body aches! It's like having flu without the headache and runny nose I know we've been bed shopping for DS today but surely wandering round a couple of shops shouldn't have this much of an effect?!

Plus a lady in one of the shops told me I'm as big as her daughter who is due in a couple of weeks! That made me feel great!! hmm
Oh, sparkly and Scorps sorry that your dps are being crap. Mine can be a bit emotionless at times and although I know that it's because of his depression and anxiety issues sometimes it just makes me want to scream for support for me iyswim.

Grr.

Had a nice day with dd so far (dp on a stag do). Hope she is good for the rest of the evening and tomorrow.

NO man is perfect hey. My dp does work hard and because of the snoring rarely gets a good fulfilling nights sleep so i know he is tired. I accept i cant have lots of time , just a bit of understanding, a nice text message, possibly flowers once in a blue moon etc. Or just to ask how me and bump are, have i managed to eat today, any more Braxton Hicks etc.
sparkly i don't think you're expecting too much; even if he stopped shouting at you, that would be something wouldn't it? It doesn't sound like you're demanding full on princess treatment. Is he down about something? I know when my DH is his behaviour can be odd, and men don't find it easy to say whats wrong if they have to be 'strong'.

The odd thing with my DH is that he is attentive, tells me i'm gorgeous, sexy, hot, beautiful every day, always touching me, etc. But he's still a lying cheating bastard.

Oh honey I know i shouldnt moan and though i dont post that much i have followed your story and i really admire you for being brave. I had same issues as you with my ex and I told him to go (Though not till it happened a second time when dd was a year old!) I was lulled into a false sense of security with this dp who was just fabulous... so understanding of my past, listened to me, always saw value in what i said. Now he just shouts over me and tells me to get a grip. He doesnt touch my bump or tell me i look beautiful or thank me for putting myself through sickness till i was 21 weeks gone.... he just says.....'and who is thinking about me' I feel so so alone and worried that although i cant wait to have this baby..... that i will soon end up on my own. I put up with being treated badly by my ex who stole money from my credit card, knocked me about and had affairs aswell as showing me no love at all. Though this one is not as bad in some ways he is bullying me differently...... and i am seriously questioning whether i am expecting too much.
neither is mine, sparkly sad

I dont know if i have put weight on or not as i am not weighing myself. dont think i am eating that much...... not more than usual infact less as i still struggle a bit feeling ropey on an evening which is when binging would normally occur. I am having LOTS of Braxton HIcks and can be overwhelming at times. I am not in a good mood today.... i have another thread about my partners snoring going. Generally feel low, neglected and just like i want to curl up an cry. Also stupid for thinking my partner really would be a great support!!!! (HE ISNT)
Im the opposite I cant seem to put on weight and have no appetite at all, when I am hungry all I seem to fancy is really plain dry things like crackers.
the last few weeks (because of whats happened) i have been eating less well, and am worried about all the crap im eating, and the weight sticking on. I don't look like i have put weight on, but still worry. I don't knowwhat i weigh at mo.
I'm feeling really fat today.

I've been absolutely starving this week, roaming the house in the evenings to find stuff to eat and I've been eating less fruit and veg so probably more rubbish.

Anyone else feeling the same? I've gained a stone exactly so far but quite a bit ofthat seems to be on my thighs sad.

Hi girls - for those already having braxton hicks - were they gentle or quite uncomfortable? I had a hardening last night, mostly around top and bottom of bump about 8pm ish and I've got it again now, like I said quite uncomfortable sad
That would be lovely Scorps I'd really like that.

DH just showed me the place his sister has found for us to stay (it's going to be a big family holiday thing but we'll have days out on our own) It's in Watergate Bay..is that good?
Maybe we could meet up if you do

Think next year we will go somewhere hot on an aeroplane, like Cyprus or something.
I've spent 5 months being very good and planning on putting DD in the white and cream things we had when DS was small - 1 day with my sister today and I've been and bought a whole pink outfit complete with blanket!!

She's a bad influence my sister!
I've never been to Cornwall but we might be visiting next July...will be DD's first holiday

Yes it was nice to stay there ,but im not sure i could live there ,although i live in a village now . The thing i liked about penzance is that people were friendly ,you know the women on the till at tescos talked to you ,that sort of thing ,plus its not all froo frooed and up its own bottem like st ives grin
the sand park, lol, we went there on Tuesday. Mousehole is too small for me i live on the outskirts of Penzance, closer to Newlyn really.

I love penzance ,dds favorite park in the whole wide world is the one on the front with sand ,although she was gutted that the tyre swing was missing ! We stayed in mousehole this year ,which was lovely ,my dh would up and move down there tomorrow ,given half a chance ,he loves the sea ,and we live about as far away from any sea as you can get smile
My freind used to live in Morvah; i live in Penzance

wow is it nice living down there?

so how often does he stay? no matter how long or how often still never easy
missy - i live right at the bottom (literally!) of Cornwall; dss lives in Glouscester, so its a 700 mile round trip
Hi All

Scorps really sorry you are feeling poop, but he will get his comeuppance, don't you worry! :-)

I went to yoga last night and one of the girls who had been to the classes brought her little boy in, just a few weeks old. I got a bit emotional when I think it came back to me again that we are going to have our own baby soon!

getting really pissed off with DH having to work late all the bloody time. he is absolutely pulled out with work, and IMO they are really putting too much on him, but they have had to make quite a few staff redundant, so he constantly has this threat hanging over his head of, 'you should think yourself lucky you have a job!' Alhough no one ever says so, there is that underlying atmosphere of do it, or you'll be out.... Plus he is hoping for promotion so is trying to keep all the senior management happy. But then he is tired and bloody grumpy and constantly thinking about work... And this is a senior job at a Times top 100 company!! arrgghhh! angry I feel like writing to his manager to tell him what i think, but that would get me precisely nowhere!
lives 30 mins away and we have him every other weekend.
Does your dss live near? mine onyl comes in holidays and i think the fact he isnt here much makes it all that harder iyswim.
scorps good on you. just dont take too much upon yourself though

i have my dss at the mo and had all 3 on my own the other day and its hard work

sometimes i too struggle with dss
I'm trying to be grown up, lol It really is just the baby being there that i haven't gone and slept with someone and come home to tell him; to see him hurt. But, i never will, I believe in my vows wholeheartedly. He will punish himself more than i ever could. I am smug in the fact i have always considered him and my children in everything i do - something he cannot claim. He is a weak man, and i am not a weak woman. I know he will pay for this, far more than i am hurting.

I'm just dying for some relief of children or something!
You see, that's what I mean - I would have had to hurt him back even if it hurt me more too.

You are being much more sensible and grown up

I hope you can fix things for yours and your children's sake.

I think you're doing really well so far
Well, i kind of weighed it up, and realised that i would hurt more without him, than i would with him & working through this. It was not a full blown affair; he did not sleep with her, or tell her he loved her, or much at all really. If it was any more than what it actually was; he would be one very poor divorced man.

He is actually punishing himself more than i am hurting, i think. I am almost sure he will never stray again. I, however, used to feel so entirely devoted to him, and now i don't. I think he is a weak man. I have noticed men who look at me for the first time; i am being so selfish, i'm almost uncaring... i feel so revengeful; i think the baby is the only thing from stopping me getting any revenge, on OW or DH. I am a huge believer in Karma, and think that the phrase 'You're going to reap just what you sow' is very apt.

sorry grin for all this, lol
You're too good for that man!

I'm not sure I could have forgiven him in your circumstance but then I am terrible for cutting my nose off to spite my face!

I hope you get some time out to do some healing soon...
Thankyou. He is going home on Tuesday, first thing. In hindsight it probably wasn't the best idea he still came down, but that would have caused more issues. I thought i would be ok but i'm not coping as well as i could with the 4 of them. (they are 7,7,4 and 16 months). DH says he will do anything to make it better, but Zac going home isn't on of them i guess, its not Z's fault his Father is a knobber.

The actual 'affair' isn't bothering me - i understand it now, just trying to heal with 4dc around isnt really happening.
I'm not surprised!! I had a fight with DH cause he ignored our aniversary a couple of weeks ago and that felt like the end of the world - what you're going through is a million times worse!

Maybe sending DSS back is a good idea. You have enough on your plate as it is!

The offer of an ear to bend or a shoulder to cry on is still there if you need it too...
No, i am actually coping quite well, just DSS is here and i find him very hard to handle; then with that and dealing from the hurt, the pregnancy...it just takes its toll i guess
Sorry to hear you're feeling down Scorps.

We're all here if you want to get rid of those 1000 thoughts - do you have a thread going at the mo?
hi everyone

Am very tired and feel very stressed here, not actively stressed but alot on my plate i think. DH & I are getting along ok/well, but he seems to really want alot of affection and a) i feel ouched out by kids al lday long and b) i'm not really in that 'zone' with him yet. Just keep thinking what a dirty liar he is.

I have had my dss here all week; so thats 3 boys and dd i'm looking after. I have decided im not going to look after dss anymore; its too much. He is very hyperactive. He lives 300 miles from us; so its not a huge issue; DH will have to have time off to visit or stay at his mums with him (150 miles away).

I seem to have 1000 thoughts and nowhere to empty them. sad

I so want to enjoy this pregnancy you know, but it feels lile im just coping, not enjoying. He has ruined this for me. Heres to the next 17 weeks being better
You were. I added you part way down (cause they're all in date order) then you got added again at the top.

No probs - Millie's fixed it

Madmissey - good advice. I saw my doc today & she said as I'm not anaemic (level 11.7)in general I can just take half a tablet with my other vitamin - hurrah!! My ferritine is low though so have to keep taking the iron. Also have put on 4kilos in 4 weeks - how did that happen. Always put on loads of weight in preg even though I don't think I eat much more than usual! (I must do though!!) She said this wasn't problem though.

Does anybody else for absolutely no reason at all wake up in a bad mood? I felt great last night, ordered new changing bag and felt really happy, content with everything and excited about whats ahead but this morning I have no patience and feel really p'd off and no idea why!!
oooh i dont envy you on iron tabs make sure you eat lots of veg to try to avoid constipation as that got me bad and ended in piles which were painful

catz yes sounds like how my spd starts take it easy and mention on next visit to mw.

Madmissey - Hope the spd wont be as awful this time for you. Must have been very difficult for you.

I used a babybjorn sling outside and last time had a shoulder type sling as my dd was three weeks early so seemed too small in the other sling for a while. At home I just carried them in my left arm. I could do most things apart from the ironing and chopping veg/using the oven. They were always happy & never cried & just bf when they wanted so I could get on with looking after the others with no problems.

Catz - I've been finding that my iron tablets make me feel sick and full up. I'm going to ask at my appt tomorrow if there's anything else I can take.

oh and is anyone else finding they can't eat much? Especially in the evenings I get painfully full really quickly. Sure this didn't happen till I was about 35 wks last time... getting a bit worried that I am starving the poor thing but he is apparently growing quite happily if the size of my bump is anything to go by!

madmissy - sorry to hear about the SPD, sounds awful. If mine is SPD it is not anywhere near as bad as that. Still am finding that it's painful to walk (especially at the start, not so bad if I've been going for a bit), turn over in bed, climb stairs etc. It's fine if I'm sitting still but it's moving that is painful. It's not consistently the same but gets worse if I've been sitting around for a bit. Does that sound like SPD to you? Perhaps I'm just being a wuss over one of those things that everyone has!

Exciting to read about everyone's nursery plans. We're doing a new room for DD and the new baby will move into her room at about 6 months hopefully. Her room is a bit on the pink side (was when we moved in) and new baby is probably a DS so may give it a splash of paint.
Just make sure you pick the latest one to copy and paste as it's the most up to date...

We wont have a room ready for our little one as she'll co-sleep and in the day I'll carry her around. I'll have a changing mat in the bathroom and keep her clothes in a drawer in our room. Have done this before and it works fine. When our smallest for the moment dc moves to a big bed in another room in a year then our new arrival will take her existing room and cot.
oooh its getting exciting now!

my nursery is on its way to being done lol

madness that feels like its all really happening!!!

i pick up the drawer units tomorrow but cot up etc and i done one curtain lol!!

spd has really kicked in today i've had painkillers its very ouch
Another of my online orders arrived today.

Got the changing table to match the cotbed I already had from dd (half-price) and some bedding and changing mats. I'm disappointed with the baskets I ordered to go under the changing mats though, a set of three but the two small ones are too small to be any use for storage so will be going back.

Next weekend a joiner is coming to redo the cupboards in the room that will be the nursery then I can start with getting it painted etc. I've picked some curtain fabric too. Getting excited.

Bex and Sparkly - thanks for confirming that I'm not mad (well not on this at least!) I know that ultimately it makes no difference but it is really irritating! She did actually give me the health in pregnancy form in the end but dated it yesterday when she thought I'd be 25 weeks (sigh) just filled it in and sending it off tomorrow. Apparently they are being paid within a couple of weeks now so that's great.

BTW, is anyone getting pelvic pain at all? I think I might have had SPD last time but was never officially diagnosed. It's coming back with a bit of a vengeance this week.

Thanks Madmissey - that's kind of you.

Have tried to organise what I'll be wearing when it's back to school next week. At the moment I've a boden skirt that I got in a bigger size that fits now that it isn't a bigger size! two Isabella oliver black skirts and a mothercare black skirt. Have enough tops for the moment but will get some more when it gets colder. Have two light weight long cardi's & two thick long cardis - will look for some more. Fingers crossed for some ebay finds.
mybox no probs i will keep eye open for anymore
My next scheduled appointment is 24 weeks. I hope they give me the form then else it's going to be a pain going in again the week after for it!!
I have the understanding that you can spend it on what you like is that correct?
If so im getting my hair and nails done!!
sorry should have said, will have been 25 weeks....
Hi Catz, you will be 25 weeks. You are almost the same as me, i am due on 5 Dec.

My MW said I would get my grant form next time I go (for my 28 week appt) so won't be getting the dosh any time soon! have no idea yet what i am going to spend it on, but i know one thing, it won't be fruit and veg, that's for sure!!!

OK I have a really dumb dates question - please humour me because it is driving me mad! If you are due on 4th Dec how many weeks along were you on 21 August (Fri just gone)?

Every time I see my m/w we have this ridiculous conversation where I tell her how many weeks I am and then she says I am 2 or 3 days earlier than I think. So I saw her on Fri (21st Aug) and I said I was 25 weeks. She said I was 24+4 and didn't want to give me the health in pregnancy grant form. I am sure I am right. The 4th Dec is a Friday, the 21st Aug is a Friday, exactly 15 weeks before the 4th Dec so I was 25 weeks exactly that day. She has one of those little wheel things and I'm wondering whether it is confused by the fact that my LMP was in Feb and it's a short month...

I know in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter but we always have this stupid row about it at the start and I look deranged insisting I am further on than I 'really' am!

MAdmissey - thank you. The skirts in size 16 & 18 look perfect.

Thanks madmissey - I'll have a look.

I wish I could wear the tights under trousers but it's so hot and uncomfortable. The tights are medi brand compression so are so thick and tough you can even get a device to help you get them on!!! The part at the top holds in my tum abit as I have a circulation problem at the top of my leg as well. Docs thought it was a hernia but turned out to a vein bulging between my ligaments there - sorry if tmi! I have lots of maternity trousers as well- ahhh!!

On the look out for long dark coloured skirts that look fab!
I feel like crap again today - really can't wait to get the next 17 weeks over with and get this baby out!

Has anyone got their health in pregnancy grant through yet .... just wondering how long it takes. spending mine on a mum to be pamper session which my mw thought was a very good idea.... she said mental health and feeling good is as important as physical health. i felt better for not spending it all on fruit and veg then!!
mybox http://www.babiesbyme.co.uk/shop/index.php?mainpage=product_info&productsid=13 any good?
i won a bundle of fab topshop stuff loads there for £15 plus £5 post and last night won this!

can you not wear tights under the trousers???? I need the support of the pouch in my trousers at the mo!
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Mon 24-Aug-09 20:31:56
Sparkly - What a good deal - I'd be so pleased to find something like that! Plus lucky you to be able to wear trousers - so much easier.

BloomingM still have their sale on atm & all the skirts are shorter and really nice but with my legs, small kids (& also puppy!!) not a possibility. JoJoMBebe have a long skirt but it's quite fitted so tricky with sitting on the floor. Hoping that long skirts are going to be the thing this winter....

Have got alot bigger in the last two weeks & will have to see what maternity clothes will fit. I'm trying to find long skirts as I have to wear compression tights for circulation problems & they are very thick so trousers not possible. Any ideas on maternity mail order for long skirts very welcome.

YES its awful weather!!!!
anyone else hot bothered and fed up today? or just me its soooo muggy and warm
ABF - That's it - exactly!

People have been asking me how long I have left to go expecting me to say "oh, only a few weeks" or something and when I reply with "baby is due at Christmas" they look at me like I'm some sort of gross alien!!

It was quite funny when the lady who runs Toddler Time said it though and then tried furiously back peddaling when she realised I was quite upset about it
yep i cried when i found out i was pg with dd2 as felt awful on dd1 and didnt think i wld have the love there! so perfectly normal! not had that feeling this time as i know i have smile

yep my belly getting big now grin loving it
Millie, everyone wonders it, i have wondered it each time and wonder if i will love another girl as much. But your love for DS doesnt need halving; you grow that much more love and its always fine.

Got a gorgeous snowsuit from EBay for dd2 today, for £5.19 grin

My belly button sticks out aswell and DP likes it but I think it looks horrible sad

Is anyone else starting to think how am I going to love a second child as much as I love my first? Our little man is just great, he's gorgeous, he's funny, he's clever, he's nice natured, he really is lovely, I just wonder how I could possibly love another as much as I love him...
