Contractions every 9 mins, childcare is about 90 mins away. Do I ring or am I over reacting. By the way congrats csws and everyone else

ajm200 Mon 13-Oct-08 08:04:22

Mum2JR if your childcare is family there's no harm in giving them a heads up that things might be starting again. They may offer to come straight over. Stay away from the bath this time smile. I hope it is the real thing and you are holding your little one soon.. good luck!

Congratulations to Pistachio and Tooshy So glad you both got your homebirths. Ouch to 10lb 2oz though! Tooshy, we need to know more about this unexpected homebirth, it sounds exciting, you can't get away with just saying 'ambulance crew in attendance'.

Nice of Star to be wishing labour vibes on me as I do want this little on out but she seems far to comfortable now. The whole of DHs family decended on us yesterday uninvited and expected us to entertain and cater for them. Really felt like cooking for 10 with just over a week til my due date NOT!

Been getting really strong period type cramps on and off all weekend but I think its just baby dropping down some more.. beginning to suspect that she'll go overdue now.

That's a long way for childcare m2jr. If a bath kills off the contractions then supposedly it's not proper labour, but if it is then the bath will ease the pain, so I'd be inclined to get in one and if the pains continue then call childcare.

Apols to loulou and antiageing - didn't copy the top two rows of my spreadsheet, so I've missed you off the list below blush.

Have started a post-natal thread as well ladies, so that we can talk about post-birth issues over there. Come and chat sibling jealousy over there with me twinkly.

nuclear Mon 13-Oct-08 08:54:02

Hello

I am a regluar but I have name changed. not been on this board for AGES but thought I needed an extra help to push me through the last little bit !!!

Due 23/10/08

already have a DS 2.4 and struggling a bit !!!

Been lurking around this thread for a bit nice to see lots of births.

*positive vibes MUM2JR*

ajm200 Mon 13-Oct-08 09:07:55

Hi Nuclear, Welcome the group. We share the same due date so I wonder which baby will arrive first.

nuclear Mon 13-Oct-08 09:09:55

thanks ajm

race on !!!! grin

jenwa Mon 13-Oct-08 09:21:40

tooshy and pistachio congrats on your new babies. Glad all ok.

smudgy Yeh was my DH but after a sterm talk and me telling him I would rather be single he has been a great help grin. He is realising how much pain i am getting in, can hardly bend and when I do I cant get back up. baby appears to be trapping nerves as getting ligament pain in groin shooting down legs! Oh well, off to town today, it will either kill me or baby will appear!!! Have already done a load of washing, stripped bedding and hoovered up and now back hurts sad have the urge to clean the cupboard in the cellar and the shed outside shock!!! Something DH Should do hmm

Welcome nuclear hope you feeling ok. It is hard when you already have one to look after. Think scarier once this one out shock

mum2jakeyroo Hope you feeling ok and baby on its way for you.

AQ Sorry, yes I did find your bitrh story (hope you dont mind) wink Told CSWS and she updated list. Glad all well and you are getting a routine.

I am hoping baby does not come tomorrow as MIL and nepheews b'day so needs to stay in although I do actually want baby out too!!!! Either today is fine or weds, thurs would be good as MIL having DD all day grin

Rhian82 Mon 13-Oct-08 10:09:27

I'm still a lady in waiting - I was on the list but seem to have dropped off

I'm due on the 27th, first child, and he's a boy

Finished work a week ago, but have lots of freelance to get done before he arrives, so desperately hoping he won't be early!

star6 Mon 13-Oct-08 10:42:11

jenwa SLOW DOWN or you'll be exhausted when baby arrives!

ajm200 Mon 13-Oct-08 10:51:50

Jenwa Sounds like you are nesting.. save some of that energy in case baby decides it's time.

I think someone swapped out my DS overnight. He's been happy to say hello to my bump but dead set against baby coming out to play. This am, he pointed to the crib and said baby's bed. He's just asked if 'baby play me now?* and has suddenly decided he can use the potty again.. I hope he's finally got his head around the idea that baby is coming soon! Part of the improvement is getting over the chicken pox I suspect. he's been really good and only scratched on on is ear lobe.

hansnava Mon 13-Oct-08 11:33:19

hi all
cant believe all the births there has been already and we r not even half way through october.
still no joy here was having alot of cramping yesterday but has since worn off. still at least i know one way or another i will have my baby by next tuesday.
ajm200 my daughter is a bit like that she loves hugging and kissing my belly but when u mention the baby coming soon she goes no its not baby in mummy's tum.hmm
i am starting to get worried about how she will react to baby being here as she is very cuddly and likes attention.

rowanmac Mon 13-Oct-08 11:37:39

Well we finally have a plan here.

Had a good day yesterday, went for a walk with my boys than out for lunch, pelvis promptly fell apart again so back on crutches.

Bad night as v worried about hospital appt that I would see unsympathetic MW/doc and they would say well you are 39 weeks what do you expect, but they were very sympathetic to the limping vomiting mess in front of them. Had a sweep and I'm 2cm! Yippee. I now feel sick and theres a constant grippy pain but I can live with that if I know its definitely action. Plan B is going in on Sunday for induction on Monday but they think i'll have either gone myself or they will be able to break waters directly and skip the pessary. Feel so much more positive now i know I'm not going to be at this for 3 more weeks.

Better get my act together and finish all those little jobs off. Its my birthday tomorrow, I wonder if we're going to have to share, I've suggested to bump she gets her skinny arse out now if she wants a day to herself!

blushDue date is actually friday 17th not 21st, 4 days didn't seem that important in April BUT IT DOES NOW!

rowanmac Mon 13-Oct-08 11:43:57

Oh, I think the reason they agreed to induction is that my BP was up again and theres now protein in my urine, not so much as they would have induced anyway but gives them an excuse.

i was also meaning to say (pregnancy mush for brains) that amazon are doing disney DVDs 2for1 at the mo, I've stocked up to occupy DS whilst attempting to feed the next one. If I have to sit through Toy Story one more time....

DS quite excited about bump but I agree reality will be different, he has expressed a strong view that he wants a boy so I'm waiting for him to peer in the cot and shout No!

star6 Mon 13-Oct-08 11:45:43

congrats rowanmac!!! Mine arrived on 2nd october and my bday was on 3rd! I was thinking he might comeon my bday too Fantastic present indeed!

ajm200 Mon 13-Oct-08 12:01:31

Rowanmac Glad you've got a plan sorted out. I had really bad SPD last time and know how bad you must be feeling. Here's hoping baby comes soon or if you have an induction it is slightly shorter than CSWS's

I'm 39 weeks tomorrow and suddenly feel really great. Got load of sleep last night and have loads of energy today. I'm also constantly starving hungry and have an insatiable sugar craving. Odd for me as I don't have a sweet tooth and have not been interested in food thoughout this pregnancy.. is this normal or have I just turned into a greedy cow over the last few days. Don't know what is normal at this late atage as I only made it to 37 weeks last time.

Contemplating taking DS to the park but it is a 40 min waddle away, mobile has packed in and DH has the car.. should I risk it?

boolean Mon 13-Oct-08 12:12:58

Hi all

I'm a lady in waiting too - can't believe I've only just found this thread! Was due 6th Oct (with my first, gender is a surprise) and am getting very impatient...

Anyway, good luck to all!

star6 Mon 13-Oct-08 12:28:49

i wouldnt risk it ajm but that's just me are there shops/houses on your way to park or are you in the woods?

pingviner Mon 13-Oct-08 12:30:07

OMG thread changed again!
Congratulations to all the mums and good luck to the rest who are still waiting! So much sympathy rowanmac, hoping the sweep will have moved things along...

Off to another scan today (39wks)for this rather large first baby - is it reasonable to start sex/curry/pineapple diet now just to get things over with?

sparklesandnowinefor11days Mon 13-Oct-08 12:39:58

Congrats to all that have had their little ones smile

CSWS good to see you back on here grin will go and check out your b a now too

Sallypuss Mon 13-Oct-08 12:52:43

Hello all

Just checking in after significant amounts of lurking. Lovely to see all the babies appearing - more than half our October babies appeared already. Congratulations to all who now have babes in arms and sending good labour vibes for those still waiting. Welcome to nuclear 'fraid you'll have to get in line behind me and ajm as I've also got due date of 23rd - had thought this may be an early baby but LO aboviously far too snug in there to show any signs of making an exit just yet smile.

Right off to procrastinate a bit more about making the nursery curtains....

ajm200 Mon 13-Oct-08 13:04:33

My body has made the decision for me. I won't be venturing out.. Getting some really strong BHs that last about 4.5 mins each. Definately don't fancy a long walk while these are going on..

pingviner Good luck with the scan. Don't let them scare you too much over the size of your baby, scans size estimates can be out by 20%. You can try all the natural induction methods, but they'll only work if baby is ready to come out.

ajm200 Mon 13-Oct-08 13:09:14

mum2JR How are you getting on.. hope things are progressing nicely for you and we'll have another birth announcement soon

Welcome nuclear (who were you?) and boolean, and welcome back Rhian (we put a call out for you but non-response meant that you were one of around 50 shock ladies who were culled from the list).

You really don't do easy pregnancies do you ajm!

ajm200 Mon 13-Oct-08 13:24:24

I do! These are just braxton hicks.. lots of people get them... they'll go off soon smile

sparklesandnowinefor11days Mon 13-Oct-08 13:28:14

i had loads of BH last night, its exhausting isn't it...couldn't sleep then had to get up for school run

now holding my eyes open with matchsticks grin

emkay Mon 13-Oct-08 14:17:43

Just waiting for the midwife to arrive to do a sweep... don't quite know what to do with myself.

BH just incessant so I'm hoping that means I'm getting into training!

Glad to hear that you're having a better time with the BF star - well done! smile I'm sure all your kids were so excited for you at school - they'll be hanging out to meet the baby.

jenwa Mon 13-Oct-08 14:46:12

ajm yes, def dont go walking too far! I am shattered now after town but did achieve afew things so pleased.

rowan Will look at the amazon site, DD loves disney grin Your appt went well then. Thats good news.

sparklesandnowinefor11days Mon 13-Oct-08 14:55:25

i have soooooo much pressure 'down there' and BH's that i'm not sure how i'm going to make the walk to school

emkay Mon 13-Oct-08 15:37:46

Well, I've had my sweep now and apparently I'm 3cm dilated hmm. MW said I'd not gone into labour because my cervix was somehow wedged over to the right side of my pelvis and therefore not in proper contact with the baby's head. Apparently all sorted now so we'll see what happens!

How are you doing pepper?

pepperrabbit Mon 13-Oct-08 15:51:57

That was good timing emkay. Our computer died on Sat am so DH spent weekend rebuilding it (the solution turned out to be hoovering the dust out of the fan hmm) so technical! so been offline for 48 hours!!! was terrible, and now there's a new thread and everything!
No action here - looks like you'll beat me to it.
Congrats anyone who had a baby over the weekend! envy
Anyone else got to the stage they're relying almost exclusively on CBeebies for childcare blush?

nuclear Mon 13-Oct-08 15:52:46

CSWS
I wasn't anyone very interesting or prominent but I felt my name gave a little too much personal info away and after what has been happening with trolls recently I thought it best to change to something very obscure!

ajm200 Mon 13-Oct-08 16:09:20

Looking at the contraction timings on Mum2JR's thread, there will be another October baby soon..

Good luck Mum2JR Sending some good labour vibes your way grin

myjobismum Mon 13-Oct-08 16:39:48

congrats to ladies who got their homebirths (all be-it suprises!!) lovely names - enjoy your babies!

all is well here, going to venture over to the postnatal thread now - hope to see everyone there soon!

rosebury Mon 13-Oct-08 17:36:51

Congratulations ladies pistachio tooshy and csws sory if I have missed anyone but the deliveries are coming thick and fast now and it sounds as though there are more on the way I really feel for you all as those last few days are very hard I know that i could hardly move come the end.

Where do I put my birth story there is not a lot to tell as it was all so fast less than 30 mins from start to finish any suggestions welcome.

ajm200 Mon 13-Oct-08 17:49:16

Rosebury - 30 mins from start to finish shock Wow.

You can put it here and link it back to this thread

ajm200 Mon 13-Oct-08 17:54:18

Pregnancy brain has just struck again. Put a chocolate cake in the oven, closed the kitchen door and forgot about it. Thought I could smell something burning a minute ago, the cake is rock hard black biscuit... it's been in the oven about an hour blush

rowanmac Mon 13-Oct-08 18:25:32

pepperrabbit Yup thats me except he's a fussy little monster hence umpteen re runs of Toy Story.
No sign of any definite action here but I certainly know someone went for a rummage this morning! In-laws are to drive over when I head in so have checked over the house for any signs of housekeeping slovenliness before MIL stays over. Have filled tea caddy and put biscuits handy so thats FIL sorted!

emkay I'll race you! First one into labour gets a ...baby!

Hi all! Congrats to all the new mums! I have what I think is a bum sticking out of the top RH side of my bump! Its kinda uncomfortable... I'm just hoping to God it's not the head! shock

I have packed just newborn stuff in my hospital bag but when we last went for a scan (fortnight ago) she was at the top of the percentile for leg length - her abdominal circumference was normal. Is newborn stuff likely to fit my little beanpole??? hmm

Evening ladies. Congrats to Tooshy and pistachio. I'm not reading any birth stories til I'm done but they sound quite exciting! We've had a nightmare today - car is broken. We only have one and potentially the engine is seized and beyond economic repair. I wouldn't mind so much but I went to the garage this morning saying it's just started making an awful noise and he said well there's no oil in there, put some in and said it should be fine. I drove off and it was still making strange noise so phoned hubby. He phoned garage and they said it might take all day to wear off. A couple of hours later, the whole thing seized and I had to call the AA. Wasn't planning on buying a new car just at this time. Anyone know whether you just call an ambulance to take you to hospital if you have no car? It's not our local hospital though hmm

heather1980 Mon 13-Oct-08 20:48:25

hello ladies, still here, 2 days over and still no sign. went for a sweep and mw said i was 1cm dilated but that i shouldn't get too excited as it was my 2nd baby and is quite common to dilate. booked in for a 2nd sweep next week and then will get appointment for induction. i hope it doesn't come to that as i wont get my home birth.
on a separate note i am refusing to answer the phone, the thing never stops, i have also turned off the answer machine coz i am sick of have you had that baby? messages. i may end up throwing the thing out of the window.

4andnotout Mon 13-Oct-08 21:13:54

Hi everyone, I still have 13 days till EDD, been getting a lot of pressure where she is pushing down into my pelvis so im hoping she may have started to get engaged as she was completely free when i last saw the mw. Will see MW on wednesday and then not again unless i go overdue or until she does the housecall after lo arrives. DD3 has started to walk from one side of the room to the other which is a bit easier as she isn't as low for me to pick up!

usuallytooshytochat Mon 13-Oct-08 23:00:13

So lovely to be home from hospital. We've really enjoyed a day with no visitors, just dh, ds, new dd and me. But just now getting a bit worried, as dd sleeps so much and hasn't had a wet nappy today. She did have several last night, but nothing since 3.30am. Unless pampers are just absorbing it too well? Is it normal to sleep all day? She has only woken up when I've fed her, which has been about every 2-3hours, and when we gave her a bath. But no crying at all. Should I be worried?

usuallytooshytochat Mon 13-Oct-08 23:24:46

The birth was really exciting though! Had contractions (I thought fairly mild, but obviously weren't grin ) every 10 mins between 2.30-3.30am. They started getting closer together, so woke up dh and called hospital who said come when you think you're ready! Called mum to collect us at 4.18 (dh non-driver), 2 mins later, I hit transition and dh called ambulance at 4.25. dh stayed pretty calm, apart from one sharp intake of breath when I asked him to take my knickers off for me shock wink Ambulance crew arrived a few minutes later and at 4.56, Megan was born. smile

Holy shit Usually! That's brilliant! Is it your first?

pistachio Tue 14-Oct-08 00:49:10

that's a fabby birth story ususlly! Surely she's just sleepy today after the stress of the birth- if she's feeding ok then she'll be building up her strength. Newborn wees are tiny anyway, maybe not enough to notice in a disposable nappy?

pepperrabbit Tue 14-Oct-08 04:54:24

Morning!
I've given up on "sleeping", can't get comfy and just sat in bed snivelling and feeling sorry for myself since about 3am. So I'm up now, made some jelly, (as you do!)
DH said to wake him up if I have the baby...
Clearly I'm going to be an emotional wreck today so he's probably going to have to work from home anyway now, or he'll get home tonight and the boys will be begging NOT to watch anymore CBeebies.
Am I up earlier than ajm?

mybabysinthegarden Tue 14-Oct-08 05:33:20

Hi all, another one who got culled here--congratulations to all the new arrivals! I'm due the 27th but thought things were kicking off over the weekend when I had violent D&V followed by an afternoon of sore BHs. Then... nothing. This morning I'm in the same boat as pepperrabbit--knackered but really sore hips ensuring sleep's off the menu for now.

nuclear Tue 14-Oct-08 06:15:52

Hello - another early riser here - I too am finding t hard to stay in bed whatt with constant butterflies about the impending 'event' and aches and pains.

Well done usually - you have made it sound so easy !!!! DS slept loads for the first 24-36 hours as long as feeding is still regular you shoudl be ok. But call the ward if you are worried they are always happy to help.

mybabysinthegarden Tue 14-Oct-08 06:40:28

Nice to see another early bird!

Usually my dd1 was like this for the first few days-- take advantage because if your dd is anything like mine, the peace and quiet doesn't last long! I was concerned about lack of wet nappies too but the mw advised me to take the one I'd taken off and weigh it in my hand compared to an unused one-- if they're really absorbent it can be hard to tell just by looking but you can feel by the difference in weight if she's wet it.

nuclear Tue 14-Oct-08 10:15:08

think it is a full moon tonight - will wait with baited breath to see if it helps me hmm

pingviner Tue 14-Oct-08 13:11:31

Finally saw consultant! and its all go for the not-so-small penguin...

(weight estimated at over 4kg at 38 weeks, my height less than 5ft, family history of difficult births/trauma/dystocia)

but on the plus side - head fully engaged, position good at present, cervix anterior & 1-2cm dilated already so its all pretty favourable for NVD at the moment
just had membranes sweep but am booked for induction Thurs/Friday if that doenst set things going... (as baby seems to be gaining about half a pound a week we are less and less likely to have a normal delivery as time goes on)

So we should have the passenger out and in the world by the weekend... the reality of which has just hit me! Off to run around like a last minute maniac.. and may not be posting for a while after today until things have settled

Good luck to one and all...

ajm200 Tue 14-Oct-08 13:27:48

Wow, you've all been busy and up early on the one night that I actaully slept. Was very lazy, went to bed early and as DS didn't wake until 8.30, neither did I.. luxury!

Tooshy what an amazing birth story! Don't worry if your LO sleeps a lot in the first day or so, its OK.

Glad to see some more mums who are due at the end of the month reappearing on the list. With so many babies here already and still arriving very early, I was worried that those of due at the end of the month would be in the minority.

Officially due a week tomorrow and have a scan booked in the afternoon so hope to get confirmation that titch is really a girl. Was hoping to get a shot of her face too but she has really dropped over the weekend and must be almost fully engaged. I can really feel her head when I sit down (at least I hope it's her head!) so I guess they won't be able to get a good shot of it.

Honeymoonmummy Your little beanpole should be fine in newborn as long as she isn't chubby and tall. DS was very long and weighed 8lb 4oz but was fine in newborn as there was not fat on him. We did have to go shopping for 0-3 in the first few days though. He's still ever so tall for his age so having a little 6lb baby this time round is going to be a shock

Been out walking this morning and to playgroup. Feel really tired and crampy now, fairly poor from someone who was walking miles every day until a few weeks ago.

ajm200 Tue 14-Oct-08 13:31:24

Pingviner.. how exciting that you'll see your little one by the weekend! I'm only short and was told that DS was likely to be over 10lbs but luckily he came at 37 weeks as I had PE. Good luck with the birth. I hope it starts naturally for you soon.

ajm200 Tue 14-Oct-08 13:40:59

Everyone.. check out Mum2JR's thread. It seems her baby was delivered in the car!! What is it with these Oct babies, some just can't get out fast enough!

Well done Mum2JR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My goodness! My DH just goes pale when I tell him stories like that. Well done Mum2jkr (&DH).
Went back to bed at 8.30am this morning, having a very tearful day here, not helped by poking myself in the eye with moisturiser as well hmm. My mum has obviously called in the troops to say I'm not coping as my sister has just "popped in" to see how I'm doing! Bless.

ajm200 Tue 14-Oct-08 14:29:26

Oh Pepper, Sorry you are feeling low <<hugs>>. Not long now!

I caught DH reading his first aid training notes last night after I showed him some of stories about the quick births this month. When I quizzed him, he said he was preparing to catch baby just in case and needed to revise his first aid in case it came out blue and floppy like DS did. (He had the cord round his neck and should have been pushed out a lot sooner but the MWs were busy and didn't check when I said I wanted to push.)

mum2jakeyroo Tue 14-Oct-08 14:57:35

thanks ajm for those updates. as on thread dh delivered ds3 in the car. he was fantastic. very quick final stages in the end. very scary though especially when baby landed in the footwell. he was born at 3.45 yesterday weighing 7'2.

emkay Tue 14-Oct-08 15:46:48

Congratulations mum2jr - I'm so pleased that you are all well and safe.

pepper - sorry to hear you're feeling blue. It is so hard with other dcs to look after too. My mum has been here this afternoon so I got a bit of a kip. Feeling very happy to accept all help offered! No more action here so all very bored now! wink Glad to hear from my mum that all the family have been calling her for updates, not me!

Ekka Tue 14-Oct-08 15:53:14

m2jr I am very impressed by your dh - mine is having nightmares about delivering the baby himself!!! Congratulations to you all....

tedmundo Tue 14-Oct-08 16:44:18

Hello October ladies

I went into a very mild labour on Thursday evening last week, at 7pm on the Friday evening we made the call to the in-laws to come and babysit ds1 and by midnight I was in the hospital. By 9am on Saturday morning, still only 7cms and they broke the news to me that the baby was facing upwards rather than downwards and he was at an awkward angle. Basically, there was just no way he was coming out the traditional route as he was stuck.

So, off to theatre we went and Patrick Francis was born at 11.07am on Oct 11th weighing a respectable 6lbs 15ozs. We got home yesterday. I am in agony from the surgery but very, very happy. Trying not to laugh or cough as it HURTS!

Big love to everyone still waiting and god bless everyone with their newborns already with them.

nuclear Tue 14-Oct-08 16:47:22

MUM2JR *wowza that is one impressive birth story !!!! congratulations*

can't wait to tell DH when he gets home tonight !!! Pepper your DH isn't the only one who turns pale at stories like that grin

MamaG Tue 14-Oct-08 17:10:03

Hi all

ajm200 dragged me over grin

Am due 30th October - will try to read thread and get up to speed!

ajm200 Tue 14-Oct-08 17:38:04

Hi MamaG. Glad you decided to join us. We are a friendly lot.

nuclear Tue 14-Oct-08 17:39:26

Hi MamaG

smile

sparklesandnowinefor10days Tue 14-Oct-08 17:57:33

Mum2JR - wow! must have been a bit scary for you both, congrats!! best tell dp to be prepared grin

tedmundo - Congrats!! and make sure you try and rest, rest, rest xx

Hi MamaG smile

Hi MamaG. You're only allowed to join if you read every post of every one of our AN threads winkgrin.

Congratulations tedmundo, and sorry that the birth didn't turn out quite the way you had planned. I love the name Patrick - was likely to be dd's middle name if she'd been a ds.

emkay Tue 14-Oct-08 18:27:56

Congratulations tedmundo! grin

I wonder how long it would take anybody to read every post of the October birth threads... probably take my entire maternity leave! smile

How are you all doing on the post natal thread CSWS? Is DD enjoying her little brother?

Today we're mostly talking about baby poo and my post birth boils emkay hmmgrin.
DD is liking her baby brother except that he's allowed more boo-boo than she is, which is giving rise to some jealousy.

Thanks for the advice AJM. I ordered a moses basket last night and am having doubts today as I'm not sure how long it'll last!!

But they're just so cute.... blush

nuclear Tue 14-Oct-08 19:02:47

tedmundo sorry x posted - congratulations - love the name smile

rowanmac Tue 14-Oct-08 19:12:45

hi all could be a dodgy post as using funny little keypad in hospital. Its a memorable birthday for me, had to leave the cake at home and i haven't had any yet.sad

Lots of proper contractions at 1am, oh yes i remember now OW! Had a show at 8 after going back to sleep for 4 hours. Had a good morning, DS opened my presents for me, lots of vouchers for post baby clothes so not much of interest to a 3yr old. Must think yummy mummy.

Humdinger of headache started after lunch, didn't go off so after various calls I am now in ward. BP 150/100 and I'm being induced in the morning. Hoping to go spontaneously overnight but this is deja vu, spent the night before DS arrived in here, got sent home (BP higher this time) then came straigt back in and had him 2 hrs later. Hopefully this time tomorrow I'll have a baby.

csws did you do your hospital thread with one of these patientline systems? v impressed its so fiddly.

honeymoonmummy agree about moses basket but newborns are so small they get lost in a cot, its also handy in first few weeks for moving around house.

pepperrabbit hugs hugs you poor thing

I think DH is relieved I'm in, he was a bitconcerned about the unplanned home/car delivery. Not promising live updates but you'll be amongst firstto know!

Good luck rowanmac. There wasn't even a patientline system where I was, so mine was done via me sending phone texts to friends for them to post, and then dh using his mobile to post directly towards the end.

pepperrabbit Tue 14-Oct-08 19:36:10

Good luck rowanmac! sending contracion vibes.
Have cheered up slightly here, DH will work from home tomorrow as well and have consultant appt in the afternoon. Shall cry all over her and hopefully they'll do something soon, very unhappy being 5 days late after all the GD monitoring and previous complications.

Gosh, I admire your committment to mumsnet rowanmac, logging in from hospital! Good luck!

I'm just finishing off my birth plan. Is there any reason why I would say no to vitamin K?

ajm200 Tue 14-Oct-08 19:46:51

Good luck rowanmac and congratulations tedmundo!

ajm200 Tue 14-Oct-08 19:47:53

I've started spotting, very light. Hoping its a good sign. Should I call the hospital or wait and see if I get contractions first?

God, I actually have the chance to give you advice instead of the other way round AJM!!! And I dont know what to say!! If it was me, I'd probably give them a quick call, its only a phone call...

ajm200 Tue 14-Oct-08 19:58:14

Thanks Honeymoonmummy, that just what I did. They told me that its probably a show but as theres no mucus with it they are going to get the oncall CMW to call me back as I'm booked for a HB.

Have a really bad back but no contractions so guess they'll just say wait and see

I gave the right advice grin

Keep us informed how you get on!

ajm200 Tue 14-Oct-08 20:12:27

OK.. MW coming out in an hour or so to check baby's position as they don't want a surprise breech birth. She thinks my non-stop backache might be the start of things..
Bet it isn't

ajm200 Tue 14-Oct-08 20:25:25

Honeymoonmummy
There was a big discussion on it on here a recently. We are going to give it to this one and had it given to DS. There are two options, oral or injection. We went for injection and i'm glad we did as DS was a very sicky baby.

Here is more info on vitk

pistachio Tue 14-Oct-08 20:36:44

ooh ajm i hope this is it for you.

congrats to tedmundo.

ToThrottleABlackBird Tue 14-Oct-08 20:48:33

Congrats to everyone who has already had their babies envy

I'm due Monday.

(Tis KnickersOnMaHead)

Thanks AJM- dammit, I owe you one AGAIN now!!! I'm going to go for injection.

Sorry about delay replying, went to direct DH in the loft as he won't let me get up there any more ... what is his problem???? hmm Altho apart from anything else it is highly doubtful I would fit through the hole. blush

rosebury Tue 14-Oct-08 20:56:01

Big congratulations tedmundo on the arrival of your baby boy you must be feeling very relieved as i know i am and i take great delight each day on having a bath and being able to reach my feet sit down and be able to get up without assistance and eat without getting heartburn, no more gaviscon hope that your stitches heal quickly and that you feel better soon. sorry for rambling on.mushy brain things do not come out in the right order.

heather1980 Tue 14-Oct-08 21:12:16

OK, MW has been. Baby is head down (thank goodness). Still spotting but got a long way to go if this is the real thing. Only 1-2 cm dilated, getting mild crampy contractions after the exam so off for a hot bath to see if it stops and into bed. She thinks that it might be tonight if things really kick off or more likely the next few days..

wendiwoo Tue 14-Oct-08 21:32:26

Is anyone on this thread in Coventry and Warwickshire?, open minded and wouldn't mind a complete stranger observing their baby's birth???? I am desperate to complete my Doula training before November 6th... Still need one more birth and despite lots of harrassing poor preggers mums can't find anyone! PLEASE HELP ME! send out the word to all expectant mums to be. i will offer as much/little physical/emotional support needed (not at the exclusion of husband/partner!)If you need more information I can email details! Thankyou so much!grin

Yay! You're dilated!! Have a nice bath AJM and sweet dreams smile

Sorry wendi, nowhere near Cov.
There are quite a few overdue babies on the list aren't there? I'm dreading going overdue...

wendiwoo Tue 14-Oct-08 21:39:17

Good luck ajm200! ... could be mummy by morning!

nuclear Tue 14-Oct-08 22:03:55

good luck AJM - its the full moon i tell you

rowanmac Tue 14-Oct-08 22:26:10

Not so much committed as bored. DH went home at6 to sort out DS and grandparents. No action here, BP still up but they now say induction book v busy for tomorrow so I don't know what will happen. Looking unlikely we will share a birthday now though, I can't pop out a baby in 1 1/2hrs from a standing start!

Well done to whoever suggested earplugs in bag. Have side roomsmile but its next to door to ward and entry buzzersad.

Go on ajm hope it happens.

WheresTheAuPair Tue 14-Oct-08 22:31:43

Hi ladies- have been offline for the last 5 days and so much to catch up on!

Congrats CSWS wow what a long induction! Hope you're well rested now.

usuallytooshy- what an amazing birth story. Lol that is the reason why DH has banned curry and sex in the last few weeks-he's worried about 'bringing the baby on' hmm (either that or my gigantic wriggling bump is a turn off- can't imagine that tho) grin

Spent exhausting evening tidying up and sorting out the nursery-still can't believe i've left it to the week before CS to get stuff straight. Sent DH up the loft to dig out baby clothes and seem to have lost an entire box of 0-3 stuff shock -have only managed to find about 3 fleecy snowsuits, nighties (?) and some random outfits (with tags on as they were horrid starchy baby jean type affairs that i couldn't bear to put DS in!) Unless it turns up in DS's room i'm off to tescos in the manana to stock up on sleepsuits and vests!! do seem to have tonnes of 3-6 month stuff tho. Surely DS was not so big that we bypassed the 0-3 part!

Good luck AJM wink

WheresTheAuPair Tue 14-Oct-08 22:33:30

hmm reading my post back I seem to have gone mad on !!! marks... Must be the adrenaline of 4 solid hours nesting blush

ajm200 Tue 14-Oct-08 22:49:40

The contractions continued and strengtened slightly after a hot bath so maybe.. smile

Rowanmac I might have suggested the earplugs, my induction last time was nearly as long as CSWS managed this time round. Hope they start you off tomorrow.

Good job I didn't end up in hospital, both of the nighties I packed still have security tags on them.. good old mothercare..

Going to have a hot drink then off to bed... night everyone.. I'll post an update if anything happens.

Flum Wed 15-Oct-08 00:27:50

Gone to bed AJM.........?

ajm200 Wed 15-Oct-08 04:03:26

Flum.. sorry, went to bed about 11 but didn't sleep.

Back up now.. backache is awful and constant. Not coming and going as I would expect with contractions. Loads of dark red shows and spotting so something is happening just don't know what. This isn't going to happen fast. Not even sure I'm in labour only taking the MWs word for it. Not sure why I would have back labour as baby isn't back to back.. Going to nap for a while on the sofa

Sending DH to work in the morning as he is as useless as I remember from last time. When MW left he asked me to make him a cuppa and dozed off on the sofa. Then brought DS down to play at 22:30. Just what we needed to add to the confusion, an exhausted toddler.

star6 Wed 15-Oct-08 04:03:40

oooog ajm!! i hope you are haveng your baby right now! AT LAST!

star6 Wed 15-Oct-08 04:04:34

ooooh and having meant to type... and x posted!

ajm200 Wed 15-Oct-08 04:23:19

Star I still think it's another false alarm. Guess you are up BFing. How is it going, any improvement or are you still suffering?

star6 Wed 15-Oct-08 07:29:47

Sorry to hear that ajm. Yes, was up bfing. then computer froze. getting a bit easier, yes... but still hurts to use a towel after shower...etc. or let water run on nipples. painful!

star6 Wed 15-Oct-08 07:38:48

what does OH mean? I understand DH...

Aubergenie Wed 15-Oct-08 07:41:17

Morning - I'm afraid I've lost track of those people I've congratulated on their new babies, so if I've missed anyone, congratulations. grin

ajm - How are things going? It's was all sounding very promising last night (but we keep saying that, don't we!).

Star - I'm really glad the bfing is getting a bit better. Are you feeling better in yourself? It's so hard with a new baby isn't it? Stanley won't sleep in his moses basket at night and just wants to be held, so we've been doing night shifts taking it in turn to hold him. The night before last he didn't go down until 7 am. the day before that, 5.30. There were tears all round and I was feeling really desperate and dreading night time more and more. I've finally finished my BP medication and took him into bed with me last night (DP slept on sofa) and had a fantastic relaxing night. BF him lying down and dozing and I feel about a thousand times better today. I hope you do too.

Other Half star .

ajm200 Wed 15-Oct-08 08:22:50

Hi Ladies, glad it is getting better Star.

Still spotting/having shows every time I go to the loo Still have awful backache that is making walking a bit of a challenge and now have an upset tummy. Guess it's just building up slowly.

DH reminded me that with DS I had a constant strong backache that was put down to the SPD and no real contractions, just a bit of pressure from time to time until transition when they gave me an EPI for my BP so maybe this is the way I labour.

Good news last night was my BP was only 119/70 so no worries there any more. DH has gone now and I'm on my own with DS so might be calling on you all for support if it gets worse...

star6 Wed 15-Oct-08 08:44:40

Thanks!! I was sitting here thinking, 'h is for husband.... so what begins with "o"?' oh the things I came up with grin

ajm I'm going to come take taht baby out myself! This is too much suspense! I'm sure it's a bit worse for you...

ajm200 Wed 15-Oct-08 08:49:42

It'll be a while yet.. The MW said back labour is really slow so it might not be here until end of the week

nuclear Wed 15-Oct-08 08:59:32

AJM - was thinking of you all last night - sending good vibes... it sounds like you are at least going in the right direction !!! wink

Don't know what has happened to my body but it seems to have completely lost the plot.

Woke up at 1 this morning with piles that really hurt and seem to have come out of nowhere hmm

Going to see mW today for antenatal and hoping she will give me some good news about position etc.

Any recommendations for extra strength pile cream? Can the MW prescribe something.. ?

At home all day apart from that appt so will be lurking and checking wink

ajm200 Wed 15-Oct-08 09:08:13

Nuclear. Not sure which cream would be best, but some of the others are suffering too and can probably recommend something.. Rubbing them with a slice of lemon can help to shrink them but might sting a bit. Witch hazel can help too. Other than that, up your fluid and fibre intake so that they don't get worse. Not much you can do until after the baby is born as they can appear in labour too.

star6 Wed 15-Oct-08 09:27:02

I got piles just before labour... and never had them before in my life! agonizing! anyway, i was given anusol. This was crap. but anusol PLUS was a godsend. shrunk them in no time!!

nuclear Wed 15-Oct-08 09:38:57

thanks star i want something hardcore !!

star6 Wed 15-Oct-08 09:43:07

it works well. The MW recommended it to me - but it was after Quinlan was born. So I'm not sure if you can use while still pregnant or not - maybe just ask the MW if you can. Preparation H is soothing/cooling, but doesn't shrink them (and is safe in pg).

jenwa Wed 15-Oct-08 09:57:41

star the lanason (cant remember how to spell it) cream for nipples is fab and you can use it before showering as it puts a protecitve film over them. It was fab for me last time.

Congrats to mum2jakeroo and tedmundo I am so pleased you have your babies. I wish mine would come soon!

fab story m2jr , i would love DH to deliver my baby but think he wouyld not be too happy!

So achey now, achey groin and baby keeps sitting on ligaments so getting sharp shooting pains. Really wanted to have a sort on weekend and told DH that I wanted to tidy shed etc and he said well youwill be able to in a month hmm angry not the answer I wanted! Was looking more for him suggessting he did it hmm

Well DD at PG, feel really sorry for her as sent her with a banana yesterday and she told me she never had a snack and I told her she had anyway dropped her this am and they told me they had found her bannana later on and she never had had it sad i just have this image of her sitting there watching everyone eating there snack and wondering why she has not got on sad. Poor thing, why shse never said anything to them. Apparntly she just went up and said she never wanted a drink but they get it after their snack so maybe she thought they wouold realise!!! Think I am emotional at the moment as it really made me feel for her!

Going to take it easier this am, was going to hoover but the walk back from playgroup has killed me!

4andnotout Wed 15-Oct-08 11:18:25

Morning all
Have just got back from my midwife appointment and everything is fine even if i feel like crap!
Baby is 2/5 in relation to brim which is better than i thought it would be, my bp is only 100/50 so it might explain why i have felt a bit crappy!
Had a good chat with the mw about bf support as i haven't fed any of the others for more than a few days and i really want to give it a proper go this time.

Hi ladies. Rowanmac - I hope things have started for you. AJM you're not allowed to get too much of a headstart because I'm due the same day as you. Congratulations to Tedmundo and Mum2JR. Hope you heal quickly Tedmundo and hope DH recovers soon Mum2JR.
Wherestheaupair - have you found the clothes? I unearthed another box of 0-3 after I thought I didn't have very much. Aubergenie, glad that you got a better night. I remember a few nights of not being able to put DS down but they did pass!
Hope you are feeling better Pepper. Glad you had a good chat with MW 4andnotout. I did too yesterday. Baby 4/5 engaged and "hunkered down" so hoping wont' be too long. Saying that, car needs a new engine which we aren't sure whether it's worth doing so we are in a bit of a pickle. Phoned a taxi to company to check that they will take me in labour and sounds promising. Now just have to remember to get some money out for the taxi and not spend it.

nuclear Wed 15-Oct-08 12:09:03

How are you doing AJM*?

*Smudgey
I am due on the same day as you as well ... let's hope we haven't got too much longer to wait....

rowanmac Wed 15-Oct-08 12:11:29

Nothing doing here, been awake since 3.30. MW said she would come back at 6, nothing doing by 8 so thought I'd better let them know I had been sick and had headache, office full of MW all looked at me like I was daft, 'but we do checks after breakfast' So now they've decided I'm difficult. Personally I would have thought as I'm in for BP monitoring they should do it more than 12 hourly.

Anyhow not for induction today but to stay in. Still have headache and baby showing no sign of action at all sad.

Was hoping for news from ajm and pepperabbit.

nuclear Wed 15-Oct-08 12:19:58

rowanmac - hang on in there ... what are you doing to keep yourself busy in hospital?

pepperrabbit Wed 15-Oct-08 12:34:58

Afternoon all, nothing doing here at all, but had 5 hours sleep last night so feeling heaps better in myself.
rowanmac they don't sound very sympathetic at your hospital! Hope you are feeling OK.
We're off to my hospital appt this afternoon, hope to get an induction date if nothing else.
hope you're doing ok ajm and are you still around emkay???.
5 days late now, tsk tsk bored. Have almost gone off the idea of having a baby wink, may move on to Christmas shopping as a project next!

ajm200 Wed 15-Oct-08 12:39:19

No baby here yet.. still waiting. The pains are now in my back and tummy but aren't regular enough to time.

Got a scan booked this afternoon so will be off to the hospital around 3. Maybe they can check what is going on and I'll have an update for you all by then.

pepperrabbit Wed 15-Oct-08 12:42:51

ajm Are you taking your bags, in a hopeful/just in case way?
We're tempted to in case I collapse in hysterical tears and they decide it's not safe for the general public to let me out.... grin.

Hope appointments go ok this afternoon Pepper and ajm. Nuclear I think this week is going to either drag or fly by. Just found out that we can get our car fixed for just over 2k and that we might get it back next Wed (but in Manchester and we live in Newcastle!) I really like the idea of DH travelling over to Manchester and back on my due date!

Smudgey The timing really couldn't be worse could it. Hope you can get it fixed though.

Won't be taking my bags as I've got a HB booked.

ronshar Wed 15-Oct-08 12:58:26

Brilliant with all the births. Well done everyone and DH,s who are obviously in the wrong careersmile.
I am typing one handed while William vomits/hiccups all over mehmm
Just too let you know Popsy has been in since Monday being induced. Some kind of slow release stuff. Must be trying to go longer than CSWS.grin.

All good here. Apart from the nipple issue[ouch].
off to find post natal.

Ah poor popsy. At least she studied my thread avidly so has a fair idea of what she can expect.

Good luck with appts this afternoon.

pistachio Wed 15-Oct-08 13:38:04

just typed out my birth announcement with one hand as ds is refusing to be moved from my arm! not a scary one so safe reading for those who haven't popped yet!

AJM this pg of your has more twists and turns by the day! Hope scan goes OK.

rowan you must be going stir crazy in the hospital.

very peaceful here today as dh and dd have gone out for the afternoon. Can't believe what a crazy juggling act evenings have become with 2 LOs- despite mine and DH's best efforts we still rush about like headless chickens. DD has been v clingy with me for the past 24 hours, and i spent last night in her bed only going back to my bedroom for DS's feeds. one day at a time...

pepperrabbit Wed 15-Oct-08 13:49:56

pistachio I remember nights of wistfully looking in at a sleeping DH as I went from one DS to the other during the night in the week or so after DS2 was born! He settled down again quite quickly (he was about 22 months when DS2 was born).
Slightly bigger gap this time so even more shuttling to & fro I suspect to look forward to!.

ronshar Wed 15-Oct-08 13:59:54

Heard from Popsy. Might be C-section today for her. Induction seems to have failed to do anything. At last popsy is going to be a mummygrin

AJM, will you just come along and get that baby outgrin. I hope you are birthing right now.

pistachio Wed 15-Oct-08 14:04:25

best of luck to popsy today.

pepper- glad it settles again quickly. It's strange as dd is such a daddy's girl, but i think she's just testing to see if i'll put her first, iyswim. DS needs me to feed him but her emotional demands are actually more tiring in a way. I'm trying not to coo over DS much when she's around, and i'm sure we'll all adjust soon enough. She's only 2.1 so won't remember life as an only child anyway...

Oh bugger for popsy. Are they going to try her with the synto drip first, in case that can get things going, with the option of going to c-sec if it doesn't work or distresses baby? This was tried for one of the girls who was in with me. Unfortunately she still needed a c-sec in the end, but it was worth a shot.

ronshar Wed 15-Oct-08 14:28:32

Nope, Pops is in her gown knocking on the door of theatre asking when they can fit her in. nWatch out anyone who tries to push in frontgrin. Popsy just wants to meet her much longed for baby.

hedgepig Wed 15-Oct-08 16:25:09

hello everyone just checked out the list and we seem to be producing a nice lot of babies. I hope everyone is well, CSWS just read your birth story wow an epic! Mine is here I'm really pleased that I managed a VBAC even if it was a tad medicalised smile

I got out of hosp with Oliver finally on friday he had been very sleepy and slow to feed and so had to be tube fed for a few days. he is now breast feeding a bit with top ups of expressed breast milk and formula so feeding followed by expressing seems to take hrs at the moment, but hopefully he will get an appitite soon and we can just breast feed.

rowanmac Wed 15-Oct-08 17:17:16

Actually Im sitting here like a stunned mullet, headache prevents sewing or anything other than short bursts of reading, TV is via headphones and its too loud. DS was in with grandparents, seems perfectly happy, drew me lots of pictures and then trundled off far more excited about going in the lift than Mummy. Mummy of course got all emotional.

ajm pg seems to have more twists than snakes and ladders.
No word from jenwa she is usually up to date. Has our resident soap opera gone over to PN bethoo where are you. We need to know!

Rhian82 Wed 15-Oct-08 17:43:04

Well I had a show this morning, so could be soon for me… or not, could still be ages! But at least I know my body's moving along and starting to get ready. Eek!

ajm200 Wed 15-Oct-08 18:03:33

Had the scan, very hassled Doctor who was running over an hour late. Just stuck the probe on my tummy where the head was and that was it so still not 100% it is a girl.

Has written in my notes that due to prev breech and PIH in last pregnancy this is high risk and I should be induced ASAP and must deliver in hospital. Completely against what we have discussed, so I'm going to be ignoring all of that. angry

Contractions still irregular but getting more painful.. have had to breath through some. Guess MWs worse case estimate of the weekend was fairly accurate sad

DH has decided he needs a night out as its taking too long... so on my own tonight. Great support

pepperrabbit Wed 15-Oct-08 20:09:52

ajm how frustrating! I'm glad you're ignoring them while the baby is obviously OK.

I had an equally unsuccessful afternoon. DH came with me, and was really useless angry just sat there when consultant said I had to wait another week to be induced - and I just burst into tears blush. He didn't even attempt to get me a tissue, or perhaps consoling comments, or even small talk to distract consultant while I composed myself!hmm
Anyway, BP high, had a sweep (yuck) and she begrudgingly agreed to book me for monday morning and I have to go to my local midwife for a BP check tomorrow.
She said cervix v unfavourable, which to be fair is where I was when I went in to be induced with DS2 and it took 6 days, so maybe waiting 4 more is for the best.....
I'm going to eat chocolate, and sod the GD diet tonight.
PS, normally I'm a cheerful & assertive kind of girl not a mopey thing as I sound here!

loulou33 Wed 15-Oct-08 20:27:31

Pepperrabbit - try evening primrose oil (3 tablets a day) and floor scrubbing to get cervix going - it worked for me and i delivered 3 weeks early. I didn't think the ep oil wuold help but seems its good for ripening cervix along with rasp leaf tablets (although chocolate is probably just as good wink ) hope it all goes well.

Joe fast asleep as is his brother so am catching up with mn and eating chocolate cookies too.

ajm for god sake will you have that baby - i can't bear the suspense any longer wink . you know its bound to arrive tonight if dh is out!!
xxx

I had a couple of chocs a night the last few nights too pepper, and didn't seem to do us any harm.

Grr at your consultant ajm.

Off to read hedgepig's birth story....

pepperrabbit Wed 15-Oct-08 20:57:11

thanks loulou & CSWS, I'll try to get some evening primrose oil tablets and more chocolate in the morning. smile

nuclear Wed 15-Oct-08 21:27:41

hi all....
smudgey - eek i would not be happy about dh driving all that way on my due date

ajm - the others aren't wrong this is turning into a bit of a saga wink still at least you are moving along - a bit angry for you at the doc who did your scan though

pepper - chin up - get some chocolate down ya! (I had 2 bars today blush)

I have now made a promise to myself to stop second guessing when this little chappie will arrive, I have now come to terms with the fact that he will come when he is ready. Truth is I am not the greatest pregnant lady hmm but tbh I am quite happy for him to stay in a while longer so I can try and get rid of these blasted piles. I had done so well all pregnancy and avoided them and hey presto 1 week to go and they make an appearance, I had an anal fissure after the delvery of ds and I in no way want a repeat performance of that debacle. Turns out though that mw was once a bowel nurse so she had lots of top tips.

emkay Wed 15-Oct-08 21:32:10

Sorry you're having such a rough time pepper. Enjoy those chocs smile

We're in to see the consultant tomorrow afternoon to discuss induction - only just arranged childcare because I never thought I'd make the meeting... but here we are. Yoga teacher drew some accupressure points on my ankles last night which are meant to induce labour so DP is going to have some work to do this evening! No way I can reach them!

ajm200 Wed 15-Oct-08 21:54:08

Hi everyone. I'm as sick of this as you all are. The midwives keep telling me I'm in early labour but I really doubt it. It's barely progressing at all. The backache
labour is so painful I can barely walk across the room Been in tears several times today and I'm not even in established labour yet. I just want it to stop now.

The DR did nothing to improve my mood. I was in the scan clinic but for some reason the DR decided to do the scan himself with a portable scanner, probably as he was pushed for time. He literally just squirted gel above my pubic bone and stuck the probe there.

Tried to tell me that there is a greater chance of the baby getting distressed as I have a history of difficult pregnancies but could back his suggestion up with any proper reasons. Was writing my notes while talking to me and said the decision to homebirth was mine to make but wrote the opposite in my notes.

ajm200 Wed 15-Oct-08 21:56:59

Emkay there's an accupressure point between your finger and thumb that's supposed to work too. Try googling it. I can reach the points on my ankles, I know I have the right spot as it hurts but doesn't seem to speed this little minx along.

rowanmac Wed 15-Oct-08 22:45:02

Consultant been in tonight, BP still high so keeping me in until mon when induction bookedshock. My last labour was 2 1/2 hrs after waters went at home so I'm going to ask in morning if they can at least examine me to see if water breaking possible. If not I'll have to tolerate being here.If more dilated I'll try to persuade them to go for it so I can have a baby by lunch (and home Fri) smile

heather1980 Thu 16-Oct-08 06:55:40

morning all, think this could be it for me, woken up with pains about an hour ago!! fingers crossed.

ajm200 Thu 16-Oct-08 08:00:04

Fingers crossed for you heather!

Good luck heather! Any progression?

rowanmac - breaking your waters is induction, so if they want to wait til Monday (why?) then I don't suppose they'll agree. Actually if they don't want to do synto til Monday then they really can't break them today, as you only get 24 hrs after ARM compared to the 72 after a natural break (because the risk of infection is higher due to them shoving stuff up and doing VEs to check progress). Sorry.

Alexa808 Thu 16-Oct-08 08:08:59

A new thread! Ooohhh... [claps hands]

It's 3pm here and I'm still in PJs. Never seem to get out of them really [slob emoticon missing] grin

Congrats tooshy and pistachio!!! Home births, wow! Well done!!

CSWS: can I join the post natal thread for husband jealousy?? My dh has just returned from work trip and is not exactly helping much, but rather demanding attention and in favour of letting Tienette 'cry it out' [argh]

Seriously, what do I do when she's been well-fed, winded, burped, snugly tucked in at right temperature but crying/whining and refusing to sleep? Any ideas? I feel quite helpless...

nuclear Thu 16-Oct-08 08:10:30

Monday shock rowanmac !!! Fingers crossed for you that something happens before then - sending you good vibes....also sending good vives to AJM - poor you you sound as though you are getting really fed up now, doesn't sound nice to be in that much pain - and it also sounds as though your doc is a bit ...well unsupportive ?
Hang on in there - are you managing to rest/sleep ? If you are in this for the long haul you need to take good care of yourself. x

Good Luck to you too Heather x

had a dream last night that my waters broke... wishful thinking methinks.

....scuttles off to look up pressure points for labour on google.

Pick up and cuddle is often a good option Alexa . Unfortunately babies don't read the same manuals as us wink.

pistachio Thu 16-Oct-08 08:27:02

alexa- imo all you can do is hold them and go quietly stir crazy as you're desperate for a lie down. wink DD was a very cuddly baby and i literally did shifts with dh so she'd never be out of our arms for weeks on end. She still cosleeps at 2.1, which we all really love, but the first months can feel so claustrophobic.

I'm trying to stay much calmer now with ds- if he wants held then so be it. It really does pass eventually. smile

good luck heather!

pistachio Thu 16-Oct-08 08:29:17

CSWS we're on the same wavelength- either that or scarred by our non sleeping PFBs... grin

heather1980 Thu 16-Oct-08 08:31:29

well still getting pains but not in a regular pattern.every 10 minutes or so. have kept DH off work though and mum is on alert to collect DD at lunchtime ish. gonna go for a nice bath now and then gonna stick the tens machine on. then i'll see how i am before ringing the MW as i have a hb booked

Alexa808 Thu 16-Oct-08 08:39:12

thank you both for the quick replies. have done this, now with T in arms...all quiet and sleepy eyed.

ajm200 Thu 16-Oct-08 09:06:50

Alexa, there's nothing worse than an unhappy baby when you are a new mum, it can be so frustrating. Sometimes cuddles and motion help. You could try taking her for a walk in her buggy or a sling. My son couldn't stay awake in the car or buggy. Sometimes there is nothing wrong at all, it's just her only form of communication at the moment.

Rowanmac, Fingers crossed that they do something for you soon. There is nothing worse than being stuck in hospital just waiting.

Feeling more positive today. Slept tummy down on a big pile of about 12 pillows and the backache has really eased so I'm taking DS to playgroup. The contractions are still very irregular so I thought a walk would help. I was going to walk the mile to playgroup but DH ratted me out to my friend and she's picking me up now.

heather1980 Thu 16-Oct-08 10:51:04

well this is it girls baby is on its way! started contracting at 5am, mw just been and i'm 2cm dilated but my waters are bulging out of my cervix so could go at anytime. she said that i should ring 999 if they go coz it might be really quick after that and she might not get here in time for the delivery! sat here on a pampers bed mat!
not sure if i fancy a bath or a walk but want it to be over now as i'm 5 days over and fed up.

rowanmac Thu 16-Oct-08 11:10:50

Its all systems go here bp sky high so off to labour ward for ARM soon.

I have found new method for IOL, the Mumsnet stupidity thread, read 1st 20 pagesfrom 6-8am this morning, crying laughing and went to toilet to find large show. pepperrabbit give it a try it'll occupy you if nothing else.

Good luck heather and ajm see you on the other side.

jenwa Thu 16-Oct-08 12:57:00

Good luck rowanmac and Heather

I wish things would start happening for me sad seeing MW this afty.

nuclear Thu 16-Oct-08 12:58:07

Heather - sending you good vibes best of luck
Rowanmac - wishing you all the best too
AJM - how are you getting on ?

this is sooo exciting.....

ajm200 Thu 16-Oct-08 13:05:27

Good luck Heather and Rowan.. can't wait to hear your news soon grin

ajm200 Thu 16-Oct-08 13:08:59

I'm not but did manage to ease the backache a lot. I've basically given up and I've decided these are just BHs. The MWs say it is early labour still but it is too slow and I don't want them examining me every 12 hours and saying I've made between 0-1 cm progress. Its too disheartening. Told the MWs I'll call them when I have contractions at less than 15 mins... so labour watch is officially off here.

Good luck Heather and Rowan. Sorry things seem to have eased off AJM but you are a bit hopeful cos we've still got nearly a week and Nuclear and I just wouldn't think it fair if you got in too early smile
Feeling a bit more positive about car. DH managed to find a company closer to home who reckon they can fix it for about half the price so fingers crossed that will work out. Made a lovely apple cake yesterday cos got friends coming round this pm. Anyone want a piece?

nuclear Thu 16-Oct-08 13:36:11

sad ajm - you are being very impressively philisophical about all this.

I'll have a small slither please smudgey bit bigger....bit bigger grin

ajm200 Thu 16-Oct-08 15:08:59

Just spent most of the last hour doing a 4 mile walk aerobic DVD. Lots of side steps, bouncing about and squats. My friend used it to shift her back to back baby a couple of years ago. Doing a bouncy aerobic workout this pregnant is definately an experience. Had to stop a few times for pains but made the distance. Now I'm off to nap as I'm shattered.

pepperrabbit Thu 16-Oct-08 15:10:24

ajm I do feel for you! LO is certainly putting you through it at the moment - not helped by the doctors either by the sound of it.
Good luck rowanmac can't be long now - I can't believe they would keep you in as "at risk" but not induce for another 4 days shock! They worry you stupid and then seem to think you're being fussy if you ask them why!
heather hope it's going well!
alexa (whispers) I used to park DS1 in front of the washing machine on spin cycle, or the dishwasher for a slow chugging noise - sent him to sleep in no time!
I've had another MW appt today, BP better today, very uncomfortable after sweep yesterday but no action - she pointed out that my cervix was so unfavourable that it probably didn't even count as a sweep angry and that booking my induction into the ante natal ward as opposed to central delivery meant the consultant still expects me to be unfavourable by Monday. At least she's told me the truth! I feel much better today and have given up thinking the baby may be imminent so I'm more relaxed.
Off to find the stupidity thread though in case that helps! grin

jenwa Thu 16-Oct-08 15:20:04

back from MW, baby still lying side on so legs and arms sticking out all the time and getting back ache, prob simular to you ajm so uncomfy and have difficulty getting up!

MW said if baby not here by next fri she will come out and do sweep and again sat or sun before induction mon grin hopefully get things moving she said and MWs are better than Drs grin

rowanmac Thu 16-Oct-08 17:05:11

Anna Ruth born 2.09pm, 7lbs2oz, 2hrs flat from ARM to arrival of placenta, gas and aironly as too quick for morphine, had big breastfeed within hour and now asleep onmy lap. She's beautiful IMO.

star6 Thu 16-Oct-08 17:06:30

CONGRATULATIONS rowanmac!!! I can't believe that happened so quickly! Wow! Enjoy her

pepperrabbit Thu 16-Oct-08 17:12:36

Congratulations rowanmac! so thrilled for you! After all that a really happy ending (and, wow, fast!).
Hope you are OK after such a rapid delivery smile

nuclear Thu 16-Oct-08 17:24:12

YAYYY Rowanmac

so pleased for you Ruth is one of my fave names smile

nuclear Thu 16-Oct-08 17:26:54

oooh all this talk of babies being born - I am crying - I am sooo looking forward to meeting the new man in my life.

<sniffle>

heather1980 Thu 16-Oct-08 17:37:58

congratulations!!!
all is slow here. still not got going properly so could be in for a looooong night contractions 5 min apart but only lasting 30 secs. mw just left and handed me over to the night team.

mum2jakeyroo Thu 16-Oct-08 17:39:16

Hi all. Congrats to all who have their babys. Will try and catch up on thread in a min. Came out of hospital yesterday afternoon and baby is doing great. We have still not decided on a name though!! Will try and do my birth story when other 2 dc are in bed. Nice to back on mumsnet. Thanks for everyones advice on Monday. I still can't believe he is here. And he is so good (for the minute anyway)

myjobismum Thu 16-Oct-08 18:21:31

hello ladies - congrats to Rowanmac on baby Anna - also good labour vibes for all those "starting" hope all goes well for you all!

things getting on well here with Naomi, she was weighed today and is now 7lb so very happy!

look forward to seeing you all on postnatal thread soon x

sparklesandnowinefor8days Thu 16-Oct-08 18:33:17

Congratulations Rowanmc smile

I can't wait to have my LO here <<sniffs along with nuclear>>

Congratulations rowanmac. Glad to hear that I was totally wrong about the likelihood of them agreeing to ARM!

ajm200 Thu 16-Oct-08 18:37:32

Congratulations Rowanmac! What a fast delivery after such a long wait. Well done.

emkay Thu 16-Oct-08 18:43:10

Congratulations rowanmac and well done!

Nothing happening here either - went in today to discuss plans for induction and had another sweep. Still 3cm dilated but that's been the case for days now. Have to go in on Monday for another sweep, get the lychal fluid levels checked to see if I'm suitable for admission as an outpatient on Wednesday to have prostaglandin induction... then if that doesn't work I'm in on Thursday for everything else that they can throw at me. All a lot to take in but still really hoping things get going naturally before then.

Maybe babe realises we haven't decided on any names yet and is holding fire until we do!

jenwa Thu 16-Oct-08 19:12:28

Congrats rownamac Glad all went well.

YumMum22 Thu 16-Oct-08 19:26:43

hey everyone ang congrats to all those whove had their babies..

3days overdue today for me and really cant wait for this baby to pop out..have been having lots of pressure and lots of pain but i dont think its labour quite yet. midwife coming over tomorrow to do a sweep but not sure if ill agree to it yet.

ajm200 Thu 16-Oct-08 19:50:35

Maybe aerobics videos are the way to go... been getting contractions at about 7 mins since 7pm. Have put the tens machine on as I need to get the pool setup and get DS off to my friends. Just need a midwife to confirm now...

Good Evening everyone - congratulations to all the ladies with their babies out.smile

I am due today but despite lots of tightening back pain and heaviness in groin I am not convinced that she will arrive before midnight!grin

Midwife appt went ok and baby is 3/5 engaged and in proper position so all my bouncing on the birthing ball is making some difference! Both prev babies were back to back and that hurt so I am hoping for an easier delivery and another homebirth. Fingers crossed it is soon though I am quite done with being pregnant now and hate asking dh to put my socks on for me! Good vibes to all who are feeling like they are about to go into labour.

Annoyingly thrush has come back with a vengence so I am faced with using pessaries I feel wierd about that with the baby being so close but the mw was quite insistant and the cream doesn't seem to sort it so I will be a big girl and use them - lovelyhmm

Off for another pot of delicious raspberry leaf tea (ick).

usuallytooshytochat Thu 16-Oct-08 19:58:48

Hello again
Since posting on Mon eve, life has been too much of a rollercoaster to keep up with anything, let alone get 5 mins to myself to mn.
Thanks for all the advice, which I've just read and would have helped me calm down if I'd had time to see it before wink
Just had to concentrate on building up my milk supply as dd was looking a bit dehydrated. ds1 was admitted into hosp after loosing over a 1/3 of his body weight in 6 days, so dp and I were both really anxious to get the bf established right this time. So extra expressing and topping up in between feeds until last night. And dd weighed in today at 3.6kg, only 100g less than birth weight, and having put on 100g since tuesday when she was 3.5kg iyswim. I'm probably rambling again, sorry. Longing to read back over the last 6 pages and see who's had babes and how everyone who has is getting on with them. But now I need to eat, then bf. There's just not enough time in the day with a baby and a toddler - it's definately a shock

Ekka Thu 16-Oct-08 20:18:58

Congrats Rowanmac! I'm a bit jealous of all these babies arriving, but still 2 weeks to go (in theory)....

Good luck ajm - lets hope this is it for you!

Our birthpool arrived last night and we put it together about midnight, so I spent a panicked night, worrying that I might go into labour, and have a completely useless, empty birthpool. Luckily baby held off and the pool is now full - I just have to keep my legs crossed till the water gets to the right temperature wink.

Had a mw appt today and she said that baby's head appears to be very low down and that baby appears to be a reasonable size (which means what exactly?!?!?!) so I'm now at the stage of just waiting to see when baby decides to appear. My mum is coming tomorrow, which is a good thing as I can barely hobble along at the moment and feel as if I'm coming apart at the joints grin

ajm200 Thu 16-Oct-08 20:21:30

Anyone have a birthpool in a box and can tell me what the white rubber mesh sheet is?

Flum Thu 16-Oct-08 21:19:30

Erm noooooo. Could it be to stop you slipping around? or to scoop birthing goo out with? How r the contractions? Could tonight be the night.

Congrats and welcome to new babies!

ajm200 Thu 16-Oct-08 21:23:25

MW confirmed its all happening. Bag of waters bulging and will go anytime now.. I'll update when she's here.

Off to bed in a tick, so good luck if tonight's the night ajm.

4andnotout Thu 16-Oct-08 21:30:49

Good luck AJM grin

ajm200 Thu 16-Oct-08 21:42:54

Meaning the baby not the MW...

jenwa Thu 16-Oct-08 22:11:14

ajm thought you were being optamistic about being on mumsnet whilst in labour with the midwife by your side! You could however get the MW on here on your behalf grin

ajm200 Thu 16-Oct-08 22:17:19

Glad I'm having a homebirth. The labour ward is chaos tonight. They are looking after 5 ladies each and have both on-call CMWs there and supervisors delivering babies. She's checked me out and gone back to help out. That suits me fine. I'm all on my own now... lights down low, very relaxed. Down to 4 mins apart but very little pain... guess it won't last though

Flum Thu 16-Oct-08 22:35:18

Good luck AJM. Look forward to birth news in the morning. Had my bubble bath am clean and fresh incase tonight is my night. Am naked surfing and looking at my big round bump. I will miss it. This is my last baby, only 3rd but makes me feel a bit nostalgic - like I'm moving into a new era. I think the whole economic crisis is focusing the mind too. Big changes are afoot!

hey ladies, just finding it hard to keep up! congrats to all the babies born, so amazing! still 5 days away from due date here, so annoying going to bed every night thinking (hoping) this'll be it and nada but many trips to the loo!

back to trawl through the thread....

GirlWithTheMouseyHair Thu 16-Oct-08 22:44:13

argh just re-read, good luck AJM - hope homebirth works out hun!

star6 Thu 16-Oct-08 23:19:01

Good luck ajm!

ajm200 Fri 17-Oct-08 00:09:19

MW has had an awful night on the ward. She's decided that I'm coping well and may still be a while so has gone home for some sleep. She only lives 10 mins walk away so can be here in a hurry. Hope she's wrong as these are 3 mins apart, to strong to walk or talk through and I have the tens on 5 already.

Off to get a bath, relax and then lay on the sofa and try to nod off.. don't think sleep is likely though.

star6 Fri 17-Oct-08 03:31:50

exciting!! I'm thinking of you durng our 3am feed. I hope you are feeding your precious LO too.

star6 Fri 17-Oct-08 03:33:45

And you were nice to let her go rest...dont think i would have with cntx 3 min apart grin

star6 Fri 17-Oct-08 07:18:11

Baby yet, ajm? so excited for the news!

News ajm?

Hope Ajm is having a lovely homebirth right now... I am hoping for one as well.

As I am officially 1 day overdue today I am getting a tad impatient and having regular mild contractions for the last 12 hours has not helped as I am tired and impatient and not sure if dh should go to work or not - I want him to stay - but feel guilty keeping him here if I don't go into proper labour - arrrgh.

nuclear Fri 17-Oct-08 09:32:45

morning all ... gosh it all got going last night didn't it?

will be checking in on and off all day.

think i set the world record for wees last night - feel exhausted today.

Good luck everyone who is busy labouring and sending birthy thgoughts to those who are getting impatient ...smile

heather1980 Fri 17-Oct-08 10:12:21

well after i posted yesterday, i went to bed for a nap. woke up about 5:45 with the most almighty pain, called mw back as i wanted some g&a, she got here at 6:15 by which time pains were on top of each other and i'm 8cm dilated! and at 8:24 baby was here! baby boy (no name yet) weighing a healthy 9lb 5oz and 58cm long, small tear but nothing to worry about.

star6 Fri 17-Oct-08 10:17:34

Congratulations heather1980! Does that mean you slept through initial contractions? shock I thought those were so painful!

ronshar Fri 17-Oct-08 10:21:37

How fantastic all the babies are coming along thick and fast.
Well done to the ladies who delivered yesterday.

I was in the middle of posting yesterday morning and bloody laptop died. Proper collapse. Anyhow.

Popsy had her little minipops. 15th October, 10.52pm. Stella Frances, 8lbs 14oz. Mum doing really well. A very proud Mum and Dad.smile.

myjobismum Fri 17-Oct-08 10:24:54

congrats heather - and what a great weight, and soooooo long, Naomi was only 45cm lol! look forward to hearing his name smile

AJM hope youhave delivered a beautiful baby by now! look forward to hearing news!!

myjobismum Fri 17-Oct-08 10:26:15

and also congrats to Popsy smile

its definately all go now isnt it!

belgo Fri 17-Oct-08 11:05:48

Congratulations to everyone who has given birth!

AJM - hope all is going well.

I gave birth to ds at home in the birthing pool on monday morning 13 October. All is fine, ds is gorgeous, a healthy 8 and a half pounds and breastfeeding well.

I lost a lot of blood afterwards and have to take it easy for a little while - quite how I'll do that with three children I don't know! DH is being great and dd1 and dd2 are very happy with their baby brother.

Good luck all of you who are still waitingsmile.

rach010 Fri 17-Oct-08 11:09:34

Hi

just popping in to let you all know i had a beautiful baby girl on monday 13th october at 8.22pm, she weighed 6lb 11oz, no name yet.
Had ok birth just gas n air, small tear & no stitches.

Congrats to all who have there babies while i have been off MN.

Fingers crossed for you ladies in waiting.

belgo Fri 17-Oct-08 11:10:29

congratulations Rach, same birth date as my dssmile

Hi all, I havent time to catch up but congrats to all!
I've just been for my 38 week appt and the midwife told me the baby is right in the pelvis and couldnt go any further down, but then wrote on my notes "3/5 palp" - wouldnt she be 5/5 engaged???

Rhian82 Fri 17-Oct-08 11:23:09

I'm going to be soon! Waters broke last night, but my contractions are still really mild and irregular. The midwife came out and examined me (I'm having a home birth), and just told me to call them when my contractions were five minutes apart for about two hours, or if I had any concerns. Oh, and she told me not to have sex - because that's exactly what I was going to do to pass the time, with a huge bump and amniotic fluid leaking out of me!

He's a little early (due date was 27th) so it's a bit of a shock (this is our first as well!), but now I just want my contractions to hurry up and get going so I can meet him!

ajm200 Fri 17-Oct-08 11:28:55

Just a quick note to let you know that Amelia Caitlyn was born at home at 8.15 this morning after 2 days of latent and 12 hours of stop/start active labour. She weighs 7lb 2oz

Good luck to Rhian, sorry way to tired to read the rest of the thread but will catch up as soon as I can.

emkay Fri 17-Oct-08 11:31:34

Congratulations to all those who've had babies this week! AJM - hope it's going well for you.

Nothing doing here - pepper I'm thinking of you too. Look at all these ladies leapfrogging us! What's going on!?

Going for acupuncture this afternoon to see if that helps, trying lots of power walking too...

emkay Fri 17-Oct-08 11:32:06

Cross post AJM - many, many congratulations! grin

Congrats AJM! grin

Congrats to AJM, Heather, Popsy, Belgo, Rach and hope things are going well Rhian. No sign of anything really happening here but have real pain walking and DS wants to be carried lots at the moment. He's in bed at the moment and I'm weighing up the pros and cons of going to playgroup - free entertainment vs 2 mile walk (round trip)
Can't believe how many people are having home births. When I talked to MW about our car, she did say "Have you considered a homebirth" but I think she was joking!. Good news on the car front that we've found someone local to do it and we should have it back by next Friday (2 days after due date!)

Congrats ajm, belgo, rach smile- I have a feeling I am going to be waiting a while longer for my labour to start. Good luck Rhian

mybabysinthegarden Fri 17-Oct-08 12:30:14

Can't keep up with this thread! Congratulations to all the new arrivals! My waters went on Wednesday night but no sign of anything happening-- pretty much the same routine as with dd1 and ended up being induced with her after about 5 days. Been in the hospital each day for fetal monitoring and general checking over and everything seems to be ok.

Rhian interestingly when I was in hospital this morning I asked the mw if I should be doing anything in particular to bring on labour and she said, the usual suggestions are hot curry, vigorous walks, sex... and I said, hang on, on this advice sheet you gave me when I first came in it says to abstain from sex if your waters have gone. And she said, oh well, we won't know if you do... smile

Wow alot of babies again. envy want my turn now!!!! grin

Thought things may have been happening this am as had some cramping andafter washing DD's bath toys leaning over bath felt some really heavy pains but seemed to have worn off. Will have to speak to DH tonight about helping out grin

hansnava Fri 17-Oct-08 17:35:42

hi ladies
just 4 more days for me then i will be joining the rest of u yummy mummies. i cant wait now.grin

i do have a question for the new mummies on here. during my pregnancy i have had leaking nipples a bit but now they seemed to have dried uphmm so im wondering does it start straight away i mean i know the milk doesnt come through for a few days but the colestrum (or however u spell it) does that start straight away. if im having a section how will my body know to produce this milk?

it seems i cant remember ne thing from having dd 3 years ago

sambrads Fri 17-Oct-08 19:47:30

congrats to all the ladies who have had there babies

brooke is doing really well taking 5oz every 4 hours health visitor was out today she is the same one i had with ds and she nearly put me daft !!

brooke has put on 17oz in a week which iknow is alot but she is really thriving and mw was so happy with her well health visitor said she had put on too much weight and was suggesting me cutting down her feds like what the flip is she talking about angry

she said obesity can start from such an early age !! she is only 2 weeks how can she say something like that

sorry about the rant

good luck to all the ladies who are nearly there

star6 Fri 17-Oct-08 20:01:07

How awful, sambrads! Obesity at 2 weeks? Please! don't listen to her.

Flum Fri 17-Oct-08 20:28:04

Spose you could make the milk slightly weaker.... Don't know really.

I have got myself laid up today. DH and I had an argument today about 'car parking' totally pointless but it knocked me for 6 as we rarely argue last one about a month ago and before that our last argument was more than 2 years ago! Anyway today was short and sharp and swiftly reconciled and I am very aware that I am emotionally quite needy at the moment but anyway. I feel RUBBISH today. At 4.30pm I knocked on his study door (he works from home) and said I need an hour off the kids (I never ask him to do any kid stuff before 6.30pm) I have a ripping pain in my side (very sore - nothing like labour pain though - possibly wierd baby position). He did take over bless him and did some cutting and sticking with them. He is very contrite and feels awful that we argued and he got so cross. I feel emotionally jaded but stabbing pains have gone so physically better. Sorry just wanted a little vent. Have been incredibly bouyant this last trimester and today is my lowest point.

Don't want baby to come until due date as my Mum is only getting back to UK day before due date and then kindly is having kids for half term holidays- so some time in middle of half term will be ideal, then she is coming to stay with us for a few weeks to help out - hoorah for Mums!

myjobismum Fri 17-Oct-08 21:03:52

congrats on the ladies who have had babies in the last day or so smile

AJM - great name, espescially the middle one wink lol!

pepperrabbit Fri 17-Oct-08 22:07:07

Good Evening. It's DH Pepper Rabbit here. Jessica Rose 7lb 15 1/2 oz was born at 10.45 a.m. this morning, so no induction on Monday. Mother and Baby doing well and expected home tomorrow.

WheresTheAuPair Fri 17-Oct-08 22:39:17

fab news!
AJM- I have been thinking of you as my LO is back to back at the moment- despite being booked in for CS I have had on and off BH and terrible back ache since Wednesday. It didn't help that on wed night my next door neighbours set their house on fire shock It doubly didn't help that only that day my FIl had called to say that he had forgotten to renew the buildings insurance (he owns the house!) so we were in the unusual position of watching the house next door burn thinking 'oh god we're not insured!!' The drama/stress hormones seemed to make the baby go crazy and i was up all night with BH's and terrible back ache. Ended up in the bath at 5am which helped. had bad fluid retention all over my legs, arms, face and shoulders - agony. Quite surreal to have a 5am bath massaging my skin while wearing a face pack (thought i may as well make the best of the situation!) lol.

oh and found the baby clothes! hurrah- all washed and ironed thanks to my lovely mum wink nursery nearly ready now...DH finally off work so i can put him to action wink

ronshar Fri 17-Oct-08 23:23:44

Yipee to all you ladies with the new babies.
AJM, finally. I bet you are really happy Amelia has arrivedsmile

Oh, Jessica Rabbit grin. Congratulations to pepper and well done on avoiding the induction.

emkay Sat 18-Oct-08 09:09:41

Congratulations pepper! smile

nothing doing here which is very depressing. sad

jenwa Sat 18-Oct-08 09:32:40

pepper congrats and glad you avoided the induction.

wtap What a stress with the fire and insurance etc!!! Hope you feeling ok now.

Hoping all else ok with everyone. My dd has gone to inlaws this am whilst DH gone to work so I can have some rest. grin Hopefully going out for lunch with DH when he is back then picking up dd this afty.

jenwa Sat 18-Oct-08 09:34:18

hansnava sorry not sure about the milk! I know mine came in straight away but neve had section. Think maybe putting baby to breast straight away when born will stimulate things. Best to do in first hour.

caramelbunny Sat 18-Oct-08 10:48:44

Hi everyone.

Megan Ruby 5 lb 12 oz born by emergency section under general anaesthetic on Mon 13 Oct. Pretty scary and dramatic, will post story.

hansnava your body knows to make milk when placenta detatches so don't worry.

Congrats caramelbunny.

Hansnava - your body is already making colostrum, regardless of whether or not you are leaking. Removal of the placenta stimulates further production, but skin to skin straight after the birth (I would aim for within the first 20 mins) will help it along, as well as being good for the baby to feed that early.

usuallytooshytochat Sat 18-Oct-08 11:39:27

Congrats to all new mums. Hi Caramelbunny - hope you're recovering well. Megan Leah (11th Oct) says hello to Megan Ruby!

ajm200 Sat 18-Oct-08 12:35:47

Congratulations Heather and Rach

What a sudden rush of babies!!! Hope you're all settling in well

Congratulations to Pepperrabbit and Caramelbunny. Glad you avoided induction pepper and hope you ok caramelbunny (re scariness and drama)Any news Yummum?
Flum - rant away. Glad you got DH to help out. I need to just ask more because if I don't ask DH doesn't seem to think to offer. He's taken DS swimming this morning and out for a walk now so I've had quite a relaxing day. Saying that, DH is feeling sick so I hope he isn't coming down with a bug or anything. Emkay hasn't been around for a while. I wonder if things are happening/have happened there?
Glad all babies seem to be doing well. Keep coming back to us or those of us at the end of the month will start to get lonely grin

emkay Sat 18-Oct-08 19:44:35

Emkay is around unfortunately and feeling very blue! Took the day to lounge about and feel sorry for myself and refuse to talk to anyone on the phone! I'm 8 days overdue today so really keen to get going. In for yet another sweep on Monday and then it all starts getting technical around Wednesday / Thursday so fingers crossed something happens before then.

DP is being very good and even DD seems to have sensed that Mummy is not to be messed with at the moment so we had a strangely peaceful day! smile

YumMum22 Sat 18-Oct-08 19:50:45

had a lovely home water birth baby boy born today at 12.47am no cuts or bruses and he weighed 10lb...

YumMum22 Sat 18-Oct-08 19:56:36

Emkay, I'm sorry to be another person wondering if things had happened blush Hope things get going before Wed and glad that you've had a peaceful day! Yummum that sounds fab. Congratulations on your baby boy and pass on some quick birth vibes to the rest of us who are still waiting. I can't remember who else was saying that they thought their LO was waiting til they had a name before it arrived. I hope ours doesn't or I don't think it'll ever come out!

Congrats yummum.

AJM I'm so pleased you got your homebirth, although it sounded like a long one... She looks beautiful in that pic.

DS will be a week old tomorrow, and he's decided today that he's starving- I think i've been on the sofa feeding since about 6.30pm! All good though as i'm finding it much easier and less painful than last time.

emkay Sat 18-Oct-08 23:19:26

No worries Smudgey, smile I just keep telling myself that everything's fine, baby's moving lots and at least I know for certain I'll have him or her here this time next week. Trying really hard to keep positive, as you can tell!

GirlWithTheMouseyHair Sun 19-Oct-08 03:57:11

dh came home hours ago, I can't get to sleep - is this my version of the energy burst?! sod's law will go into labour on friday which is the only day I'm not guaranteed a homebirth due to staff shortages, did anyone else become an insomianc at this stage? would prefer to get as much sleep as poss!

hansnava Sun 19-Oct-08 05:38:49

morning-
ive given up trying sleep ne more today. i have from 11.30pm to 4.00am my not so dp knicking all the covers so i keep waking up freezing then my not so dd gets into bed with us and for some reason cant use a pillow like normal people she has to use my head then coz shes in the middle she kicks all the covers off so then me and not so dp end up freezingangry. then on top of all this its now two days before my section and thanks to my lovely nephew my dd has come down with a terrible cough so im now paranoid im gonna catch it and they wont give me section.

morning all

still nothing happening over here hmm although for some annoying reason EVERY time I lie down to go to sleep at night strong BHs kick off for a couple of hours and are stopping me sleeping so I am knackered. It is odd though if I lie down and sleep in the day they don't happen ! It would be ok if I could sleep standing up grin

Congrats to all that have had your little bundles. I haven't had time to catch up on the thread and read through but it looks like those babies are coming thick and fast smile

I am trying to stay upbeat and enjoy these final days of 'peace' with just DH and DS but I am getting more and more impatient.

speak soon
xxxx

Just caught up, congratulations to all and sympathy to those still waiting, CSWS I thought Jessica Rabbit as well, the ARM/IOL thing was to do with staffing. ARM done on labour ward, prostin etc done on ward so it depended on busyness. In the end I was clearly unwell so they got on with it.

Home Friday, feeding going well but sore nipples and bad afterpains which are now settling will of course carry on but i can see why people don't. Refused all visitors yesterday and had day at home with the 4 of us. DS off to Singing Kettle this pm so am balancing Anna whilst making pirate outfit as you do!

Will check back when I can. ajm and pepperrabbit I hope you are now feeling as well and upbeat as I am again, its amazing how fast you recover isn't it.

caramelbunny Sun 19-Oct-08 11:55:32

You have excellent taste in names tooshy!

Congratulations yummum although am very very envy about your beautiful home birth.

star6 Sun 19-Oct-08 12:29:03

what's jessica rabbit? sorry... had a very sheltered upbriging...

nuclear Sun 19-Oct-08 13:00:11

she was in that cartoon in the 1980's - Roger Rabbit

Lozza70 Sun 19-Oct-08 14:07:28

So many new arrivals! Congratulations on all the new babies!

Yes - here she is.

heather1980 Sun 19-Oct-08 14:52:48

congratulations to all the new arrivals!! gosh lots of us has home births didn't we? mine was amazing, much better than in hospital.

well we've finally come up with a name - alexander james. it's only taken us 3 days!
and my milk came in yesterday, ouch ouch forgot how painful that is, could hardly sleep with the pain and looking like jordan.

ajm200 Sun 19-Oct-08 16:45:14

congratulations to Pepperrabbit and Caramelbunny

Hi everyone, slowly catching up. Grabbing a few mins of PC time while Amelia feeds and DS watchs Mr Maker,

Feeling great now. Difficult to believe I only gave birth 2 days ago. Went out today for the first time as a family of 4 to get Amelia some premmie clothes as newborn re too big and rubbing.

I'm going to post more details of my homebirth in the birth announcements.

Congrats to all!

I'm not due until the 29th but I've had mild diaorrhea for 4 days now and for the last 2 days the braxton hicks have been kicking in. I've been "nesting" like you wouldn't believe for the last 3-4 days (especially at 4am) and I'm 3/5 engaged. Oh and I've had really bad mood swings today!!

Do you think the baby's likely to come sooner than the 29th (10 days)???

GirlWithTheMouseyHair Sun 19-Oct-08 18:56:12

aw nuclear I know how you feel - it's crap isn't it? especially as it then makes me think maybe I'm in early labour even though I'm not which makes sleeping even more impossible!

emkay Sun 19-Oct-08 19:08:21

honeymoonmummy - it could well be, you've got some classic signs there! grin But... speaking as someone whose had all of that for about a month now I'd definitely recommend not getting too excited! DP has been on alert so many times now that he's definitely getting jaded by the whole thing! blush

do you want an early arrival?

I don't really mind. I'm kind of set to go but I wouldn't mind a bit of rest and relaxation before she comes! Plus I have a hair appt on Thurs!! blush
Have you really had all those symptoms for a month? How irritating!!!

nuclear Sun 19-Oct-08 19:21:31

This time round I seem to be having soooo many more false alarms than with DS - last time it just 'happened' no false alarms or anything.

It is v. irritating - it has got to the point now that I am keeping my mouth shut when I think something is kicking off as its getting a bit embarrassing. grin

I think most of it has something to do with wishful thinking though ! hmm

... but also simultaneously very nervous about the whole shebang.

longing now to be on the other side with a beautiful baby boy in my arms feeling smug that it is all over ....

emkay Sun 19-Oct-08 20:42:38

Yes... and like nuclear I didn't get any of this with DD - just waters breaking and off we went. So with the first braxton hicks happening while I was still at work over a month ago I was sure it was all go at that point! It has been lovely to have the time on maternity leave to spend with DD and get loads of stuff done but I'm definitely ready now!

Off to hospital tomorrow for a check up... baby's got about two days to make an appearance if we're going to be able to use the Birth Centre, otherwise it's the labour ward for us. sad

Rhian82 Sun 19-Oct-08 22:06:11

Baby82 was born late Friday night, 11 days early

Had hoped for home birth but ended up in hospital in the end for pain relief (just gas and air!), and had ventouse and episiotomy. Not fussed though, just happy with my adorable little baby boy! Back home now, will post a proper birth story later.

jenwa Mon 20-Oct-08 07:32:37

Not sure if things happening. Rolled over in bed this am and trickled something in pants, clear fluid but not loads just enough to think something is going on, now got some period cramps. Could be awhile though but is due date today grin I have put pad in place and will see what happens.

congrats Rhian to your new baby boy.

jenwa Mon 20-Oct-08 07:32:40

star6 Mon 20-Oct-08 07:44:24

ooooh jenwa! exciting!! I hope its your waters breaking!

jenwa Mon 20-Oct-08 08:09:11

And me, would be sooo embarassing if i had wet myself!!!!

Sent dh to work and said I would call if anything happens!

star6 Mon 20-Oct-08 08:47:36

Remember when my waters broke??? YOU said, "have you ever wet yourself before?" ha! you did not wet yourself, silly!

jenwa Mon 20-Oct-08 10:02:58

star he he, I was only thinking that this morn grin its so weird when it is actually happening to you and you need someone to tell you that you are really not wetting yourself!

The cramps are still there but not at all strong, thought they were dying off but sort of coming and going but in to real pattern. I had such a slow labour with dd1 so not expecting things to happen quickly here either. I do hope that it is not on and off for days as that is such a pain. Could do with doing some more shopping but DH taken my car and dont fancy the thought of tescos. May do it online but then wont really know when to get it delivered!!! May ask DH to collect some bits on his way home.

Congrats Rhian.

Best of luck Jenwa!

GirlWithTheMouseyHair Mon 20-Oct-08 12:05:46

congrats Rhian!

oooh jenwa really hope it's the start for you...am also really fed up wiht myself for thinking it's the start with strong BH's and crampiness that disappears within an hour...so I'm doing my best not to symptom spot anymore and at least it meant I got a decent night's sleep - slept from 10:30pm to 8am only waking twice to turn over, just wonderful!

am annoyed too though cos I got THREE lots of protogladins yesterday (clearly a 40 week pregnant woman is turn on for my husband!) and it has done NOTHING!! rubbish....

pepperrabbit Mon 20-Oct-08 12:21:16

Hello all - I'm back!
That'll teach me to spend Thursday afternoon moaning about not going into labour.. smile.
Shall post proper birth story at some point and congratulations everyone else who had babies over the last few days -esp ajm*.
*emkay
sorry not to have waited for you and sending lots of labour vibes your way <hugs>.

DH did a very matter of fact post for me, the man has no sense of drama - I can't believe he didn't even mention that the hospital was actually on fire on friday and you could hear the sirens/fire alarmsa nd emergency helicopters from the delivery suite, and we were within about 5 minutes of being evacuated!! The childrens ward was badly damaged but we were lucky, tho no visitors could get in as thye closed the hospital.
Had to stay in as something funny happened to my uterus and needed a 4 hour drip, but feeling better now.
I just KNEW someone would mention Jessica Rabbit!!! Luckily in real life no-one knows of my rabbitty-ness so it's a private online joke!
(tho today I do indeed have a Jessica Rabbit chest and it bloody hurts....)
Take care all

myjobismum Mon 20-Oct-08 13:57:41

congrats all you ladies!

Jenwa - hope this is it for you! chances you have wet yourself are tiny - lol - i dont know if i posted here, but i had a small gush/leak first thing in the morning on the 20th and my midwife sent me in to be checked - i was told waters werent breaking and cervix not ready for labour and was sent home sent home - 10pm that evening waters went and Naomi arrived at 1.18am - so most likely the waters lol! good luck!

Naomi is a month old tomorrow!

jenwa Mon 20-Oct-08 14:59:08

myjob thank you. Things dont seem to be progressing and only had another small leak but mixed a little with discharge (sorry TMI). Have not rang MW and not sure if meant to or not really as dont think anything happening. Just got some tummy cramps but nothing frequent. Also when stand up feels like baby is pushing right in my groin, bowel and everything else down there!
Cant believe Naomi is a month tomorrow!!! How quick has that gone!

pepperrabbit Wow what a drama!!!!! Cant wait to hear it all in full grin

girlwithmouseyhair glad you had a good sleep, if things dont happen here that is what I aim to do tonight. Am shattered and not nice company to DD at mo who wants me to be her climbing frame and trampoline!!!

hansnava Mon 20-Oct-08 15:49:59

hi all,
jenwa sounds like it could be the start of things for u good luck.

congrats to ne new mumsgrin

well today is my last full day of being pregnant as i have my section tomorrow.
im really starting to get nervous now. plus my dd has a really bad cough and has had temp all day, which has made me reallysad as she probably wont be able to come up hospital and see me tomorrow and i wanted her (apart from dp) to be the first person to see the baby.

nuclear Mon 20-Oct-08 17:02:02

thinking of you jenwas

best of luck tomorrow hansnava*

*girlwithmouseyhair
- glad you got a good sleep - makes all the difference some days doesn't it?

emkay - hope you get to teh birth centre.

bethoo Mon 20-Oct-08 17:08:18

hi ladies and congrats to new mummies. cant keep up with you all as hardly have time to myself with destructive ds and newborn dd who will not remove herself from my massive boobs! she gained 8 ounces in first week alone the little guzzler and will not sleep in moses basket so is co-sleeping. ds co-slept til he was 9 months. though right now dd has terrbile nappy rash all over her bottom and feel terrible, ds is constipated and also has nappy rash! though i am loving it. new dp is a godsend, would have had a breasksown by now i think. he cooks most evenings. only thing is that i am back to my normal clothes but gaining weight now as he spoils me with good food and comfort food, never eaten this much junk food in ages! so back on a diet now.

anyone else considering another baby already??

4andnotout Mon 20-Oct-08 17:18:39

Congratulations RHian, still 6 days to go here and no ctusigns of anything happening, must say im actually dreading labour this time, so not wishing it any sooner grin

emkay Mon 20-Oct-08 20:04:05

IT'S A BOY! grin Thank you so much for your labour vibes... they seemed to work! wink

Started thinking that I wasn't imagining labour contractions at about 9pm last night but didn't fully believe it was happening until about 10pm. Arrived at the birth centre just before 1am to find myself 9cm dilated on first examination and little junior was born at 230am. A whopping 9lbs8oz... but no tears shock because the midwife was a star and totally controlled that part of the birth. We're ecstatic, exhausted and happy to be home. Now just have to decide on a name!

Lots of good luck vibes to all you ladies in waiting!

Emkay that's fab news. Big congratulations. And to you Rhian. Pepperrabbit can't believe DH didn't mentino the drama - that'll be something to write in DS book! Jenwa not sure whether I hope things are happening for you. I've been having slight cramps every now and then and diaorrihea for last 2 days and really hope that things are happening as I've had enough. I've not been nesting though but maybe that's because I'm a lazy arse! Really finding it hard to get motivation to look after DS but luckily Grandma is coming up tomorrow for a couple of days so that will help.Good luck for tomorrow Hansnava. Guess there cna't be that many of us left now envy
Bethoo really pleased that things are working out with new man. Make the most of him looking after you. Hope DS and DD bums soon better! Nice names Heather - that's one on our list too (we only have a list of 2 if it's a boy hmm)

Congratulations emkay grin.

Good luck for tomorrow hansnava.

loulou33 Mon 20-Oct-08 21:12:37

congrats to emkay and others

bethoo get yourself over to postnatal thread - and yeah, i have considered another even though docs say the rhesus thing will be worse and dh talking about having the snip!!! A dd would be nice....... or maybe not with 2 ds!! Off for 6 week postnantal next week so anticiapting the contraceptive talk - what to choose this time!!

loulou33 Mon 20-Oct-08 21:14:07

good luck for c-section tomorrow? hansnava

WheresTheAuPair Mon 20-Oct-08 21:38:06

argh c-section tomorrow. feel so nervous. Spent all day packing and cleaning-like going on some bizarre holiday! managed to give myself a tummy upset through nerves. still at least it gives me a good clean out blush

7am tomorrow...eek.

Oh good luck to you too wtap!

Flum Mon 20-Oct-08 22:17:50

Good luck to those being sectioned. No action here yet but not due until 25th and last two were both more than a week late so hoping this will be the same.

Both sets of Grandparents out of the country until Friday so it would be most convenient for this babe to wait until the due date or afterwards.

star6 Tue 21-Oct-08 00:51:15

they asked us about contraception and i said, without blinking an eyelid "abstinence". DH just sat there... im NOT ready to give birth again and after all of those stitches, terrified of sex.

sambrads Tue 21-Oct-08 08:57:02

star it is scary but dont leave it to long as it will only get worse the fear that is

with ds i waited over a month and worked myself up and it ended up not being very enjoyable but not too sore with dd i have already had sex and thats only just over a week after having her as i was dyig for it blush this time i was alot more chilled out and it to be honest you would have never thought anything came out of there hmm

just remember wait until you are ready yourself not when dh gets super horny hahaha wink

good luck to all those ladies awaiting birth and congrats to everyone who has had theres

GirlWithTheMouseyHair Tue 21-Oct-08 08:59:49

good luck wherestheaupair

GirlWithTheMouseyHair Tue 21-Oct-08 09:00:05

oh, and happy due date to me....

jenwa Tue 21-Oct-08 09:02:46

Hi all, still here with baby in tummy sad, nothing else progressed yesterday and no more leakage, MW's said prob watery discharge hmm. DH taken DD to playgroup this am and MIL picking her up so I can have a rest. My close friend had her DD yesterday, am sooo happy for her but also a little envy, she not due utnil 12th Nov!!! She had her DS on the due date the MW gave me for my DD and has stolen my due date this time around too!!!!! But am sooo happy for her, just impatient that I want mine now too.

DH stressed his am as taking DD to PG, makes me laugh as I still got up and did everything for her (not that I needed to) but was awake and he said "I could not do this all the time hanging around waiting"! I did think "well I usually do housework, get me and dd ready and tidy up after ourselves so we never have time to hang around! Never said it though as would have caused a stress!!!
Have stress now as his family dont plan very well so dd gone to PG and his mum picking her up and said they would walk to town and now has called to say they want her car seat which DH has in the car so is now having to turn around to bring it back and he is an a bad mood! Sometimes I find it easier for them to just not help as no one gets stressed then!!!!

Anyway bethoo sounds like you are enjoying new DP and you are very happy with your children. (apart from their bums!)

Good luck to those having sections today.

emkay Congrats on your new baby boy (big boy) wink Hope you find a name soon.

jenwa Tue 21-Oct-08 09:05:03

Re sex, Yes I got freaked out about it and DH and his brother would discuss it together as his brother and partner had a baby same time so it was like a competition!!!

I had 3rd degree tear so was not up for it for awhile! Funny as Dh not coming near me at mo but wanted to when I had split bits and stiches!!!!

See what happens this time!

star - don't feel under any pressure to have sex before you are ready. Dh and I waited about 5 months last time (because of dd's and thus my lack of sleep and constant screaming), which was longer than most, but so what?!

Sorry you're still here jenwa. Can relate to the grandparent stuff!

pepperrabbit Tue 21-Oct-08 09:36:32

emkay congratulations! that sounds fast and I'm so glad you got to go to the birthing centre after all. smile
Good luck those with sections today!
I'm not even thinking about sex tbh, had to have stitches as she was back to back and came out face up, then some complications so I'm just about sitting with confidence now (day 5?). DH is definitely in for the Long Wait grin

Morning ladies. Hope WTAP and Hansnava aren't too low down the section list so don't have to wait too long. I was up every 2 hours with the runs last night (sorry TMI) but no cramps so really not sure what is going on. DH had stomach upset on Sat so not sure if it is that. Problem is that if it's stomach upset then I want to eat as little as poss to give stomach time to recover but if it's me having a clear out pre-birth then I want to eat so I have energy. Also booked in for sweep with MW this pm but not sure whether to have it or not. Happy due date GWMH!

Flum Tue 21-Oct-08 11:37:44

Mmmmm sex. I think you need to get back to it as soon as you can..... if you wait until you are 'ready' it may never happen and the longer you wait the more of a big deal it becomes. The first time will probably be scary, rubbish and hurt a bit but the second time will be better wink. I reckon try to do before your 6 week check then if anything feels erm.... not quite right you can discuss it with Doc before you are discharged.

5 months!!! Blimey your husband is very patient!!!

Not really Flum. He's always been the one with the lower sex drive.

star6 Tue 21-Oct-08 12:57:00

I dont even want sex. not at all. I know I sound awful but I dont even fancy it in the least

pepperrabbit Tue 21-Oct-08 14:07:00

Ahem, with DS1 we didn't have sex for a year! That included me being PG but even so!
DH will be grateful if I even think about it before Christmas grin

Flum Tue 21-Oct-08 14:07:45

Yeah but honestly if you wait till you fancyit , that day might never come. When you are looking after a baby randy thoughts just don't appear that much. Thats why I think you just have to make yourself do it. Make a joke about it 'back in the saddle'and all that. Then it stops being an issue.

The whole thing worries me as I love my husband soooo much and want him to be happy and fancy me but my DH goes off it when I am pregnant he has that kind of mentality of 'My work here is done' until the vulval varicose veins kicked in (and even now in the dead of night inthe deep dark) I still try to persuade him because I think it keeps you close and in the habit.

I am worried that when he has the snip as he wants to he will go off it completely as there will be no kind of instinct to impregnate which is the general driving force isn't it! We'll see.

Anyway keeping on the job is no guarantee they won't stray at this time anyway....

star6 Tue 21-Oct-08 15:15:57

hmmm... I may seek counseling for this

myjobismum Tue 21-Oct-08 15:37:16

congrats emkay!

jenwa keeping everything crossed for you!

bethoo - why are you not on the postnatal thread yet wink

loulou33 Tue 21-Oct-08 15:55:02

Star - its perfectly normal not to even wnat to THINK about sex - everyone is different, jsut like our sex drives are all different. Its understandable that you are wary re:pain/stitches etc and you have enough on your plate with the baby - give it a little longer and then see how you feel

jenwa Tue 21-Oct-08 17:15:04

star I agree you do it when your ready but can also see pro's of doing it sooner than later. I had a physio appt after DD was born re my 3rd degree tear and they asked me if I had yet had sex to which my reply was "no" (prob 6 weeks after DD was born) she then made another appt for me and said we could discuss it at next appt which made me feel really under pressure to have sex again (and the physio was a friend which made it harder as I knew she would know when I had etc!)

At the mo you will be too tired and its the last thing on your mind. I remember thinking on a normal day if I was shattered and had not slept well I would have had an early night with no sex so why is it different really. Your DH will understand and if not tell him to go to the bathroom and deal with it himself grin (or not)

I will try to get back into it sooner this time as got in a flap last time but who knows what will happen. I think having kids puts sex on hold anyway (well apart from bethoo grin) as there never seems to be a good time!

myjob thank you. Nothing happening today sad I am def not keeping my legs crossed!!! Been cleaning cellar shelves today and tidying up again. Going to walk the hills tomorrow grin Julie Andrews eat your heart out, here comes the sound of music!!!

WheresTheAuPair Tue 21-Oct-08 18:14:27

Finley peter born this morning at 9.30 weighing in at 9lbs 7 oz. The care and midwives were fantastic- can't fault any of it! Already got catheter and drip out and baby breastfeeding well. The opposite experience to my first really!

pepperrabbit Tue 21-Oct-08 18:34:18

Congratulations WTAP so glad you're both well and happy! smile

Hello all - just a quck note to say Polly was born on Sunday 20th at 7.02pm in Hosptal - but she is fine and so am I. smile

Will post brth details later but have a nappy to change now! One handed tuyping is tricky

pepperrabbit Tue 21-Oct-08 18:59:45

Congrats BMSA
I have done a small birth announcement here

and uploaded a picture!
No obligation to visit! smile

Congratulations WTAP and BMSA .

Like Pepperrabbit - congratulations a lovely story smile - I have posted my birth announcement here

nuclear Wed 22-Oct-08 09:54:33

congrats to all those who have just popped ! smile thought it was my turn last night (due tomorrow) I had regular strong contractions every ten mins for 3 hours but it all stopped at around 3am.

now nothing seems to be happening at all, so I am in a huff.

jenwa Wed 22-Oct-08 10:19:47

Congrats WTAP and BMSA*

*BMSA
Just read your birth story. Sounds like all ok in the end and you have a lovely baby.

pepperrabbit Congrats, have just posted on your bith story. Lovely pic too.

Still nothing here, woke up with pants wet again but nothing since, It is not wee, smells sweet (sorry tmi) and its clear. MWs said on monday prob just a discharge, who knows! No cramps or anything else. will just keep waiting.

star6 Wed 22-Oct-08 10:20:55

I'll bet that's your waters...
silly mws

nuclear Wed 22-Oct-08 10:28:28

hi jenwa <sounds> like your waters.

Is the baby's head engaged fully? Maybe that is why you are just getting 'trickles'

myjobismum Wed 22-Oct-08 10:39:52

jenwa - sweet is waters! maybe pop to maternity unit and get them to check properly!

sparklesandnowinefor2days Wed 22-Oct-08 10:46:19

Congrats to all that have had their babies smile

still waiting here, not due til friday but was kind of hoping the baby would make an appearance this week as its half term next week and i will have no help for that unless dp is on paternity leave

pingviner Wed 22-Oct-08 11:41:16

just a quick message before I relax back into baby-moon: our lovely little boy, Teemu Finn born on 17/10/08 by emergency C section weight 3.6kg and totally gorgeous, finally home!
will update birth stories etc and pictures soon good luck to the ladies in waiting and congratulations to all who've given birth since I last posted.. (will read the thread later, honest)

rowanmac Wed 22-Oct-08 12:12:47

bethoo in answer to your question NO NO NO NEVER. Have just placed ad in local paper for maternity clothes.

Just logging in to see who has arrived, jenwa it must come soon surely. pepperrabbit does the place being on fire give you more incentive to push or were you so in the 'zone' you weren't aware of it?

off to find the post natal thread as I am barely keeping mastitis at bay here, heaven knows what I'm going to do on Mon when DH goes back to work.

Congrats WTAP and BMSA and pingviner. Pingviner I think you were due today same as me weren't you? So envy that you have your LO. Nuclear, Jenwa I'm still here and had sweep yesterday, a bit of a show but no contractions at all yet. MW said I was 2 cm dilated yesterday and she could stretch it to 3 so things are at least looking hopeful for the next week or so hmm
Mum here at the moment and not sure whether to send her home (surely a guarantee that things will start) or keep her here (and then nothing will happen)
Feeling sooooo much better than I have the last few days and even seem to have stopped with the runs. Maybe this baby is staying put!

Congrats pingviner.

Smudgey - you're already more dilated than I was hours before giving birth! grin

jenwa Wed 22-Oct-08 15:29:25

smudgey Midwife coming fri to do sweep etc, does it hurt?? Sounds painful when you say she could stretch it to 3cm!

Been to town today and really achey, think head is most prob fully engaged now nuclear as was 2/5 last week and feel like it has moved down. I keep getting sharp pains in my groin like it is sat on a nerve [ouch emotion] and walking in town today was not at all comfy but no more trickles! When I told my mum she said its prob a bit of urine hmm it did not smell of it and surely if it was wee I would be like it more often, also having 3rd degree tear last time I had no leakage so would not want to start now!

myjob I sort of want to go to check it out but also dont want to sit about waiting and then go back home waiting for something to happen or not! Just want baby to come now!!!

jenwa Wed 22-Oct-08 15:30:29

pingviner Congrats to you and your new baby boy.

nuclear Wed 22-Oct-08 18:07:45

hi all

ooh smudgey sounds promising.

Had MW appointment today and she thought baby was breach cue major panic and off to hosital for a scan - talk of ECV (?) and sections.

But he is still head down thank god!!!!

No more pains for me...seems like everyone is moving along but me (still in a huff!)

Sallypuss Wed 22-Oct-08 18:51:20

Congrats to all with their new arrivals. My due date tomorrow and despite 2 whole pineapples and 2 curries, nothing moving here...ho hum....

nuclear Wed 22-Oct-08 19:41:38

breech

Flum Wed 22-Oct-08 21:19:51

Nothing moving here either. But, my new sitting room curtains arrived (have lived here since April 07 and took me this long to choose them) They are soooooooooo beautiful - should be they cost more than my car shock. Will enjoy sitting feeding baby and gazing at them in adoration.

Also struck a deal with DH as suddenly had a panic attack about how I would cope with 2 kids and a little baby. He is going to get the girls up and dressed each weekday and give them breakfast so I only have to worry about baby until 8.30am when I take the eldest to school. This is brilliant as will get an hour or so extra in bed if nights are tough. I have always done all the 'nightwork' anyway so not fussed about that in the slightest.

firsttimer08 Wed 22-Oct-08 22:18:48

hello all,
just a quick note to say baby was born on the 13th ! had an amazingly short labour, will write more later.

ronshar Wed 22-Oct-08 23:02:45

A quick congratulations to all the new mums.

It has been so busy here and William still hasnt settled into much of a routine yet. He just doesnt seem to understand if the lights are off it is sleep timesmile. I am knackered.

*Bethoo, no bloody way, are you mad woman*

Flum Wed 22-Oct-08 23:17:14

I am already broody for another and haven't had this one yet. Praps this one will cure me. The plan is to get a puppy next year instead. DH does not want 4 kids and I think I am getting a bit too old for it all.

star6 Thu 23-Oct-08 01:31:31

A puppy! great idea. im suggesting that to dh if he even thinks about talking about a sibling for ds. thanks, flum

star6 Thu 23-Oct-08 01:32:16

how is it going jenwa?

jenwa Thu 23-Oct-08 08:17:50

Morning
Wow star imagine you were up feeding at 1:30!!!
I am ok, still nothing happening! Wet again this am! Starting to think maybe I am wetting myself!!!! I am seeing MW tomorrow but may call today but really dont want to go in to hospital especially as DD at inlaws for the day and looking forward to a rest again/housework without the thought of spending however long in hosp!!!

firsttimer08 Congrats on your new arrival.

pepperrabbit Thu 23-Oct-08 08:50:05

flum I'm having the same panic about getting everyone ready in time for school in the morning. My DH has to leave by 7.15am so I've extracted a promise that he will remain in the house till I at least am dressed and have had a cup of tea. I had a go at getting everyone downstairs yesterday by myself as DH was exhausted and there was a lot of shouting!
jenwa hope things start moving for you soon. I'd be tempted to make the most of the day at home tbh if baby moving fine and you feel well.
and congratulations firstimer08 looking forward to the birth announcement.

ronshar Thu 23-Oct-08 09:18:07

We had the normal panic running out the door this morning. And it was only DH & DD1. I was making packed lunch, ironing shirts etc all at 8.15 having fed baby and shoved DH out of bed!
It all depends on what time William wakes for first feed.

Jenwa, I would go and checked out because if your waters have broken then you are at risk of infection. I would be surprised if you are weeing every morninggrin. OOOO you could be having one of those mythical silent labours. you might go to the loo and find a babygringrin.

4andnotout Thu 23-Oct-08 09:33:17

Morning all
I always wake up wet too and feel like dribbles but it is just discharge sorry tmi! My waters havent ever broken spontaneously before so im not expecting them to this time either. Still have 3 days till edd and no signs yet hmm I havent popped this one out yet but we are already planning dc5 for 2010 (unless this one is a little nightmare!) Definately having 2009 off as i only had 4 months this year where i wasnt pregnant and have actually been pregnant 6 times in the last 6 years so i need a rest!

ronshar Thu 23-Oct-08 10:08:13

Crikey love are you madgrin.

myjobismum Thu 23-Oct-08 10:49:04

hi all and congrats to new babies!

getting on well with Naomi here, though didnt work so well this morning as was up with her between 3am-6am and DH woke me at 8.30 and i panicked as had to leave to take DS to pre-school at 8.45 - luckily DH was only waking me to tell me not to worry as he was going to take DS to school on way to work [phew] smile

no plans for any more babies here EVER!!!!

sparklesandnowinefor1day Thu 23-Oct-08 11:06:31

Just seen midwife, the baby is further engaged now (not that that really means much) but ho hum! I was trying to convince her to do a sweep today but she said as i'm not due til tomorrow she won't do one until tuesday.....just hope the baby comes before then so dp can get time off....

sparklesandnowinefor1day Thu 23-Oct-08 11:07:46

I'll never say never but i think 5 will be enough for me, so no plans for any more after this one....but i said that last time grin

4andnotout Thu 23-Oct-08 12:11:15

Oh had bit of bloody show this morning so fingers crossed things are opening up grin

myjobismum Thu 23-Oct-08 12:41:24

ooooo good luck 4andnotout - hope this is it for you and baby arrives very soon!

Nothing more happened here either. A few more bits of show but nothing exciting. Sweep didn't hurt Jenwa. A bit uncomfortable but didn't hurt anything like as much as first examination at hospital last time. MW said cervix was a bit tucked behind babies head so she scooped it back hmm
LOL at being more dilated than you CSWS. Unfortunately nearly 2 days have passed and no sign of baby - I know, you have the record at the moment and I should quit whinging! Hope you enjoyed your DD free day Jenwa and ended up getting some rest. I was thinking of scrubbing kitchen floor later.
Flum and Star - puppies grin You reckon OH will go for that?
4andnotout - good luck if this is it...

GirlWithTheMouseyHair Thu 23-Oct-08 14:14:50

hey everyone - now 2 days overdue and yesterday was really hard so am doing my best to just be patient as I got so worked up yesterday. DH took me to the cinema at 9pm which reminded me to make the most of my last few days/weeks of freedom. Sweep booked for tuesday.

all the strong BH's and period style pains etc I was having at the beginning of the week and last weekend have disappeared, I feel no different to a month ago...come on baby!

nuclear Thu 23-Oct-08 15:55:08

Hi all

still here... went to playgroup with Ds this morning for his halloween party - we dressed him up as a tiger and he had a lovely na when we got back - bliss! Still not really feeling any different.

DS was born by now he was one day early HAPPY DUE DATE TO ME !!!!!

jenwa Thu 23-Oct-08 16:17:10

Afternoon

ronshar you made me chuckle, I wish I would go to the loo and it popped out, I would love to post a birth stroy like that grin

smudgy thinking it did not hurt too much then if you even had to have your cervix scooped back [ouch] hmm that sounds painful but obviously not then! I had a lovely day, mum made me lunch and we went to shops for a browse but I felt really short of breath and achey and was waddling about! I have managed to hoover, wash floors and clean bathroom. Need to strip DD's bed now. Even had a shower, washed hair and glammed up this am, so nice to pamper yourself when children are not about rooting through your make up and asking for everything every 5 mins!!!

Sweep tomorrow so hoping things will work out. My sis up from london this weekend and would be so nice to have baby before she has to go home sunday! Tomorrow would be a good day grin Do you think if I put it on the calendar it will happen????!!!!!! hmm

Not sure how you all manage with lots of children, I am stressing about getting out the door 2 days a week for playgroup with DD and new baby!

4andnotout you are sooooo brave with lots of children, pregnancies and planning more, are you mad!!!! grin I always wanted 4 or 6 but think this will be it as shattered with 1!!!! Also, maybe it is discharge with me but is completely clear? Nothing in day but some d/c though? Not sure, will see MW in morn.

happy due date nuclear*

*GWMH
Brave you going to the cinema, how funny if you had gone into labour, or maybe not!

star6 Thu 23-Oct-08 16:56:39

so gald to hear someone say that... i thought the first internal exam - 1cm dilated blush was SOOOOOOOOOO painful! On tv women make it look easy!

GirlWithTheMouseyHair Thu 23-Oct-08 17:50:30

jenwa sounds like you've got some serious nesting going on woman!! have finally packed my hospital bag (well, transfer to hospital bag in case HB doesn't work out), so come on baby, I am officially ready!

happy due date nuclear

am totally resigned to the idea that I may well end up going two weeks over and being induced - but I don't want to be a November girl!!!!!

nuclear Thu 23-Oct-08 18:34:12

i don't want to be a November girl either

Come on babies, where are you? DS wanted to lift up my top when we were in Asda today so that he could give the baby a kiss. I didn't really want him to so he was shouting "Baby are you" which is his version of baby where are you. The woman standing next to me thought it was quite funny when I said "Yes, exactly where are you baby. Get a move on and come out of there" grin I'm still feeling fine so maybe I can have one of those babies that just slips out when I'm asleep. LOL at putting date on calendar to make it happen!

4andnotout Thu 23-Oct-08 20:38:13

Think this is it! Having strong contractions, lots of show sorry tmi! Had a hot bath and got clean clothes on, now just quietly breathing through the pain and hoping i can last out until silent witness has finished!
JENWA my discharge was completely clear too.

Good luck 4andnotout!

star6 Thu 23-Oct-08 21:19:46

jenwa are you in labour yet? come on! get that baby out! You cannot be wetting yourself. It must be your waters and that's true about the risk of infection. That's why they ended up having to induce my labour more because waters all went at once early on and had to have antibiotics during labour and after for a bit.
Best wishes 4andnotout!

hansnava Thu 23-Oct-08 21:47:41

hi all,
sophia leigh was born 21/10/08 by elective c-section weighing 7lb 6oz and is absolutly perfect. will post birth story soon. congrats to all new mummies

Flum Thu 23-Oct-08 22:40:37

Ronshar - quite fancy one of those mythical labours where baby just appears as if by magic!

Impressed with 5. I think I will crave one more after this one. But DH is adamant that this is it and we get on with OUR lives after this. But this is OUR lives. Kids just crack me up. Mind you I do spend most of the time from 8am to 8.45 yelling at them like bootcamp: Brushed teeth? Book bag? Where are your shoes? blardy blardy blar

WezMeBroomstick Thu 23-Oct-08 22:51:35

Evening ladies

Olive aka 4andnotout has just texted me from the labour ward!!

She is having gas and air as we speak

No4's arrival is imminent

Will keep you posted

Hi all,

Is it common to have a lot of head movement immediately before you go into labour?? I've never known the baby to move so much!

Ekka Fri 24-Oct-08 05:04:07

Hi all, anyone have the link to the contraction timer? Think things are kicking off here but will probably not be too speedy, like last time I just can't lie down through contractions as they seem to be far more painful.... Lets just hope this is it - I'm bored of being pg....

Congrats to all who've had their babies, I've not been able to keep up with the stats very well...

God Ekka, you're due on the same day as me, scary that you may be going into labour!! Have u found it?

I think it was this one...?

www.contractionmaster.com/

I've barely slept a wink all night. Rang labour ward to check out the excessive head movements, turns out its cos I had 3 cups of caffeinated tea yesterday after staying off caffeine all the way through!!

blush blush blush blush

jenwa Fri 24-Oct-08 07:58:57

congrats to hansnava and your new baby girl.

4andnotout yeh!!!! thank you Wezmebroomstick for update.

jenwa Fri 24-Oct-08 08:01:31

Ohh caffeine! That must have been uncomfy though. This baby was making me uncomfy yest with head in groin and shooting pains and felt like it just wanted out but Oh no, she is a determined one, not wanting out yet!

Still not in labour sorry!!!!

MW coming this am....yeh! Hopefully she will pull her out grin if it was that easy!

I felt such an idiot! It did occur to me, in my defence, before I rang...

I'd been at the hair salon then having a pedicure so couldn't drink my usual decaf tea... I dont think the meatballs in spicy arribiata sauce for tea helped either...

Have you had any symptoms of labour Jenwa?

WezMeBroomstick Fri 24-Oct-08 08:25:30

Morning all,

Good news....

Olive's/4andnotouts baby girl was born

last night at 11.25 weighing 7lb 5oz

Well Done Olive! x

star6 Fri 24-Oct-08 08:49:18

congratulations 4andnotout
name?

GirlWithTheMouseyHair Fri 24-Oct-08 08:52:35

congrats 4andnotout!

Jenwa I'm still here too...now 3 days over, am hitting the homeopaths this afternoon - apparently caullophylum can bring on labour? going to do some more research on it today

my pelvis is in agony today, think it was the mammouth hike yesterday trying to get this baby out...

nuclear Fri 24-Oct-08 10:35:04

big congrats 4andnotout grin

I am still here too ... really having trouble sleeping now I am walking round like a zombie - I am hoping that the adrenalin will carry me through labour because I am a bit worried that as I am getting hardly any sleep my energy reserves will be too low.

I am going to bounce on birthing ball lots today.

pepperrabbit Fri 24-Oct-08 11:02:37

Congratulations 4andnotout and hansnava !
jenwa nuclear et al - sending lots of labour vibes.

Congrats 4andnotout. I did lots of bouncing yesterday nuclear but still nothing. Rubbish that you're not sleeping because like you say it's really hard when you're tired. I seem to be sleepign ok again so making most of it. Honeymoonmummy glad you've found cause of lots of movement. Do you think eating 5 pieces of chocolate tiffin will help to get things going? I feel like it's my duty to find out......
How was the sweep Jenwa?

How was the sweep Jenwa?

jenwa Fri 24-Oct-08 12:01:29

congrats 4andnotout grin am not at all jealous!!!!!

Just had sweep, it was fine actually, babys head in right down now so she had to root around behind it shock but not dilated yet but soft. No signs of labour though and she said the leakage in the morns is disharge but watery like 4andnotout said as I would have been trickling all day if it was waters! Feel bit silly now but knew it was not wee!

GWMH let me know about that caullophylum, if I dont hear I will know its worked when you post your birth story grin

nuclear know the feeling re sleep! I think it is baby saying "this is what it will be like" hmm yet we still are desperate to get them out grin

Off to mums for lunch now and walking, hope I dont have a massive show on the way over...eek! I have put a panty liner in just in case! Just starting to get some tummy cramps now but may be hunger, toilet or somethig else. Not thinking about it until it happens

Ooops, meant to say good luck Ekka and hope it isn't as long as last time for you.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair Fri 24-Oct-08 14:55:29

will let you know Jenwa - off to see if my local health freak shop has it now...

4andnotout Fri 24-Oct-08 16:13:10

Hello!!!!!!!!!!! grin
Tilly-Grace arrived 45 minutes after we arrived at the hospital, with only 2 pushes and some gas & air. She is tiny and weighs 7lb 0.5 oz and is breastfeeding like a pro, came home from hospital at 12.30 this afternoon and have already been to a special assembly at dd1's school.

nuclear Fri 24-Oct-08 16:46:51

4andnotout what a beautiful name smile

completely envious at such a lovely sounding birth - are you super woman in disguise ??

look at you going out already, you make it sound so easy

x

nuclear Fri 24-Oct-08 16:50:56

been for a long walk with DS, my lovely mum (who i have to say has been an absolute god send this past week) and the dog but still NADA !!!

I am half expecting Jeremy Beadle to pop his head around the door and shout

"ha ha you are not actually pregnant we have been fooling you these past 9 months"

it just feels as though nothing is happening. I thought I had a trickle of waters this morning but thinking back on it now I think it also might have been that pesky watery dishcarge jenwa

angry

jenwa Fri 24-Oct-08 17:18:22

4andnotout Wow you make it sound easy! Is that the pros of having more??!!!! You are a superwoman already going out!!!!!

nuclear My mum and parent inn laws been fab too. It really helps does'nt it.

I went back to bed this afty as was so tired and dd staying at mums tonight and my sis coming up from London so they are taking her to town tomorrow grin Me and DH cant decide wether to go out or stay home and rearrange the rooms. As sad as it is I am for the latter as am a neat freak and it would make me feel sooo good grin but should prob do the meal thing or maybe a walk. He certainly does not want to come near me for any action so thats is not on the agenda hmm

GirlWithTheMouseyHair Fri 24-Oct-08 17:27:18

walking has not worked out for me, has meant my pelvis is in agony and I have to make sure not to sit in same position for more than 5 mins, which means bouncing on ball is out too - rubbish!

4andnotout Fri 24-Oct-08 18:56:10

I think recovery is quicker the more you have, i felt better the minute she was born than i have in the whole 9 months, midwife was very surprised that i went off with my mum to shower and change as soon as Tilly-Grace had finished feeding!
Just had a lovely 50 minute feeding session in my bed, she was so lovely and snuggly, my nipples are feeling a bit sore though!
Got to go i hear a wailing from the pram grin

Wow 4andnotout - that is seriously impressive! Big congratulations again and glad that it all went well.
Nuclear, Jenwa and Girlwithmouseyhair you do realise that we're all desperately logging on in the hope that none of us have started anything yet so at least we're not the only ones still waiting grin
I do remember now that from my dating scan, they came up with the 27th so maybe I'm not overdue yet. LO still wriggling like mad so really not expecting anything. So, should I let DH go to Manchester tomorrow to pick up car if it's finished?
Hope everyone else enjoying their LO - so envy

star6 Fri 24-Oct-08 20:16:27

wow 4andnotout! congrats

Flum Fri 24-Oct-08 22:27:22

Well done 4 and not out.

Lovin the halloween emoticons. Still can't be arsed to use them though.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair Fri 24-Oct-08 22:37:53

smudgeydoodle my dating scan also said 27th - date was brought forward at 12 week scan, so have decided I'm not due til Monday either!

nuclear Sat 25-Oct-08 04:14:12

morning ... early start for me today I feel as though something may be happening.

woke up at 3.00 am with a strnge feeling of pressure and the then had to go to the loo (IFYSWIM!) since then I have had persisent backache and period like contractions.

Sitting downstairs now after having a snack with some candles lit - not sure if this is the real thing but if not its nice and relaxing grin

will probably be back on here in a few hours complaining that it has all stopped. hmm

star6 Sat 25-Oct-08 05:34:44

how is it going, nuclear?

And????? Come on Nuclear, let us know grin
Hope Jenwa not checking in means that something is happening there too. We've just gone on the bus to a shopping centre near us and got a few bits and pieces and then come home. Journey that takes about 10 mins in car probably took us about an hour each way but it was a good way to fill the morning. DS now exhausted in bed so we get a sit down.
Star hoping you were up feeding and then went back to bed. How is DS sleeping?

Flum Sat 25-Oct-08 16:17:11

Happy due date to me today. Been out locally and seen LOADS of people we know. All saying, oh you must be feeling dreadful by now. etc etc. But I am feeling GREAT today. This is borrowed relaxation time.

Kids off to Granny & Grandads tomorrow for half term so hopefully baby will come around on Thursday afternoon after I have had my crown fitted at dentist and lounged around in bed for oooooh 3 days.

Hoorah!!

Will probably come tonight now grin

But the other 2 were both more than a week late so.......

nuclear Sat 25-Oct-08 16:36:48

sorry nothing to report - still getting niggles and lots of backache but nothing major (humph!)

went into town today in the hope to get things moving but nothing yet.

I do feel different but this could be my mind playing tricks on me.

I reckon one of us will pop first then we will all go into labour like scittles !!!

smile

happy due date Flum. The halloween smile is for you !!!
ooooo bus journeys are meant to help smudgey keep us informed.

rosebury Sat 25-Oct-08 19:55:27

Good luck ladies still waiting sorry not been on for a while just busy with baby and had a terrible cold which when you are short of sleep is bloody awful. Nuclear it all sounds like go go go to me you are certainly rumbling, I now need to pop backwards and try to find out who has had their babes.

Thinking of you all xx

jenwa Sat 25-Oct-08 21:45:26

Hello. No baby sorry.
We swapped out living room and dining room round last night so Dh could set up comuter in dining room and shut himself away so he can work from home so have had no internet until this eve. I also have been at mums this afty and spent time with her and my sis and of course DD who is having another overnight stay grin

Had slight show this morn followed by on and off period niggles but nothing major. DH was bit scared as we went shopping and I was holding on to trolley as baby felt like it was pushing really hard down in me, think DH was happy to do a quick shop then get back home, prob not worried about me really hmm

Got MW coming again tomorrow for another sweep otherwise induction mon.

nuclear sorry things were not happening, hopfully they will soon, prob like you said we will all be like skittles!

Sure you must have said jenwa, but why induction at just a week overdue?

CSWS due to 3rd degree tear last time they said that babys head developing and bones getting harder so better to induce earlier to reduce risk of damage in that area again.

Having contractions now [ouch]
Woke at 1:45 and now 4.45 but been robbed an hour as its now 3:45! They are not really bad although had some that bloody hurt and lasted ages. Also had another show about 10 mins ago.

Not sure if anyone awake.

I hope that these contractions are for real and they dont fade! Hade some paracetamol and tried to go back to sleep but it not worked!

Still waiting here too - that's despite 3 curries, 2 pineapples and one session of reflexology. 'Hoping' that the mw will offer me a sweep at my appointment tomorrow to get things moving....

sending labour vibes to all the other ladies in waiting

ooohhhh Jenwa thinking of you !!!!!

hope everyone else is ok - I had a wonderful night's sleep last night and have woken up feeling wuite energetic so today would be a good day to go into labour -hope my body ctaches on to this!

Horrible rainy day here - it is my BIL's birthday today so going out to my mum and dad's who are throwing a small party for him so that will be nice for a chance and take my mind off things.

will keep checking back to how Jenwa is getting on. envy

Jenwa hope this is it for you. Still nothing for me - so would have to conclude that eating lots of chocolate tiffin and going on a bus journey don't seem to help! DH taken DS swimming this morning. He was wondering whether to go cos thinking that I wouldn't be able to contact him once he's in the pool. I pointed out that I could just phone the pool and ask them to make an announcement. I bet he'd get changed the quickest ever. Almost worth doing just to see how quickly he can get home grin
Flum you sound like you've got it all in perspective and are looking forward to enjoying some peace. Bet you're next wink
What time was everyone up this morning? We put DS to bed a bit later than normal in the hope that he'd sleep later. Yeah, right! 7am on the dot (as in 6am today time!)

Thanks for undertaking the experiment for us re chocolate tiffin Smudgey, it was really good of you to sacrifice yourself to science like that... hmm

I'm due in 3 days and apart from the fact that I felt her drop again last night, even tho she was already 2/5 engaged, oh and the fact that I've had mild diaorrhea for about 10 days now, nothing seems to be happening yet...
