Hello there - my first post on this thread. Just thought I'd let you all know that I launched Oomphalos, a mums-to-be, mums, babies and toddlers programme in Marylebone last week. If you are interested, there are a variety of classes on offer this term, including pregnancy yoga, mums and babies yoga, art, creative movement, music, ballet, percussion, and French. For more info, you can go to the website: www.oomphalos.co.uk.

Le Pain is pretty good, and if the weather's nice we can always go to Paddington Gardens. How does 2pm on Friday sound?

Hello,

I'm around Friday. How about you MamaPolly? Any suggestions as to where we should meet? Is Le pain the best place for prams on the High St?

Hi, I can't do next week (seeing the grandparents) but could do either this Friday or the week after next. Would either suit you ladies?

great, let's fix something up when hanna gets back.

I went to John & Lizzies too but haven't tried the postnatal classes, are they worth attending?

Hello everyone! I have had Sophie (born on the 5th of Sept 2008) at St John's and Elizabeth's. So have been going to the postnatal classes around that area. Now I have discovered this site, it would be nice to meet up mothers closer to home. We live in W1T area (Marylebone/Fitzrovia).

Hi Hanna, let us know when you're back and we can arrange another meet-up. Hopefully the weather will have improved by then - we had hailstones yesterday!

Great, see you there. You should be easy to spot. I have a rather less distinct cream/beige iCandy cherry!
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Tue 23-Jun-09 12:42:25
of course 11.30 is fine don't worry if you are late ! see you there, will wait in the entrance area, have a big blue stokke pushchair , very distinct !
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Tue 23-Jun-09 12:15:38
actually can we say 11.30 (sorry I don't usually do this) - little one has doctor's appt that morning and today they were running half an hour late so I'd just like a safety margin to be sure.

I'm new to these message boards, but have a new baby (born May 2009) and live in the Marylebone area. I'd love to get to know some other new mums in the area. Also does anyone know of any good mum and baby exercise classes (need to get rid of my belly!)

Are there any Marylebone mums who would be interested in a free photoshoot of their newborn? I've got another mumsnetter knitting me some baby wraps and props for newborn photography and I'm looking for some new subjects for my portfolio...

Ideally I am looking for babies up to about 10 days old for that sleepy curled up newborn look.
Hi Tanya,

I just called the NCT to sort out a confused schedule and recommend this as the lady sorted out my problem really quickly: 0300 3300 0770 (and press 3 as that will get you to a live person)

I'm due June 12 and considered Frances Gordon's class but it seemed such an odd schedule that I finally went with a weekend course in Euston -- hope I picked well anyway ;)

By the way I'm in Lisson Grove and would also be interested in a meetup with others in Marylebone, Bayswater or elsewhere nearby!

cheers
Katherine

Hi!

Firstly, I am also in Marylebone and expecting a baby at beginning of Feb, so interested in meeting with others.

Secondly, I was looking desperately for some contact details/address for Frances Gordon. I'm supposed to be going to her NCT classes in Notting Hill starting tomorrow but haven't received any confirmation or address info, and NCT aren't answering or returning my messages!!

If anyone can help please let me know asap.

Many thanks,

Tanya

hi all, also due in June, live in nott hill and work in central london so had messaged yael and planned to join you but have been away for a couple of weeks so just caught up with this thread... looks like I missed the marylebone meet - let me know if/ when the next one is planned.

for those looking for local(ish) NCT classes, I have been recommended Frances Gordon's classes by a couple of people, which can be booked via nct (central london) or the birth eduction website. she takes the classes in bayswater, w2.

also, triyoga in soho runs a pregnancy class on Friday lunchtimes (think there's other times in the week too) - i'm going to try out my first session today!

Is in the diary - see you there and have a good Christmas!
Sounds like a plan! I suggest we pick the 03/01 while everyone is still in festive mood. How about coffee & cake at 11.00 on the 03/01 meeting at the Pain quotidien.
Please suggest other time if afternoon is better.
Have a lovely weekend

Hi all,

Would love to meet up, I think that's a lovely idea. Those dates are all fine with me. Sadly working till mid feb , so weekends are perfect. Looking forward to it ! x
Thanks "yael",

Pain quotidien it is then!

3rd is good for me , 4th is fine as well.
If these dates are not good for others: 10 & 11 should be fine as well.
Joanna, maggy, sososnoop - let us know if you can join on any of those dates.

Hugs

Sounds good!

skiingone, Joanna78, maggy22 and sososnoop- How does Pain de Quotidien on Marylebone High Street sound on any of the following dates:

Saturday, 3 January
Sunday, 4 January
Saturday, 10 January
Sunday, 11 January

Hopefully a weekend day is okay with everyone as I work.

If anyone else wants to join, let us know!

Yael (yaelgoldie)
Good idea!

yaelgoldie, Joanna, maggy let's catch up for a coffee & cake in Marylebone. I'm not working now so during the week is fine, but if weekend is better for everyone - let's pick a day on the weekend then.

I'll try to contact sososnoop to see if she wants to join as well.

However I'm sadly moving from Marylebone early January, but not too far ( Swiss Cottage/Hampstead) to the other side of Regent park. Will still deliver at Portland and will go there for antenatal classes.

Yael - go ahead and suggest a conveient date/s.

Shall we pick a date for January to meet up in Marylebone? (Btw, I love the expression "this side of Christmas"... I am American and I never stop enjoying learning these Britishisms!)

Yael

It would be great to arrange something! This side of Christmas is probably going to be tricky but if people fancied meeting up in January that would be nice?

Hi,

I'm also pregnant with my first baby and live in Marylebone ! He/she is due in March.

I would recommend yoga classes at the Portland Hospital - I'm not booked in there for care, but they are more easy to get to for me in the week than Triyoga - although i am going to give that a go too !

Would also be up for meeting up with you other ladies at some point !!
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Mon 08-Dec-08 00:06:11
Hi

Had DS 5 years ago whilst living in Marylebone. I did my classes in Notting hill so no use here.

What I suggest is the pregnancy yoga at tryoga in primrose hill. There are at least 4 pregnancy classes a week. They are very popular and a great meeting place as they have a little cafe. The classes are usually followed by mummy and baby classes so a great place to mingle with like minded people!

Easy access with bus 274 along Gloucester place - through blandford street or paddington/york street.

Hi, I am slowly figuring out this messaging thing! I am the other one in Marylebone... keep me posted as I would love to meet up on the high street. It will be nice to make friends I don't have to pretend-drink wine with!

(I'm expecting my first in June at Portland Hosp.)
Hi Joanna,

I've posted on another thread where there is another girl who lives in Marylebone and wants to catch up.
Will see if can get sososnoop to come along, but we can gefinitely organise a coffe/ cake Marylebone catch up and have 3-4 girls there.

x

Hi, I live in Marylebone and am expecting my first baby 02/02/09. I would love to meet up!
3pm is a great time for tea and cake!
I guess I'll recognise you by the bump? See you outside Patisserie Valerie on High Street on Thursday.
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Sun 26-Oct-08 15:22:08
thanks for the tip elkiedee, Skiingone, how about around 3? thinking tea and cake!!
Feb 09 has a number of other people in London, don't know about anyone in your area. I think my antenatal thread Jan 09 has someone who's nearest hospital is St Mary's, presumably she's near you somewhere. And try Mumsnet Local for Westminster.
Patisserie Valerie on Thursday would be great! What time suits you?
Sarsa08 - will you be aroud to join us?
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Fri 24-Oct-08 12:30:09

sounds like a great idea, have gone part time at work already, but bored out of my mind the rest of the time!!
I think Marylebone coffee catch up should be organisd regardless of when we are all due.

I just joind Mumsnet and am also looking for new mums in Marleybone. I'm due Nov 24th and we're delivering at the Portland. Met a few couples in our classes, but none of them are in the neighbourhood. Would be great to meet some locals.

Hi Skiing one - hope your scans/tests went well, pleased to find someone else at Portland classes, but shame will be after me!
I'll be doing these antenatal classes as well as it's around the corner from me too ( 5 min walk). Haven's signed up yet thought. Have my NT scan and blood tests tomorrow, will start taking it seriously after this.
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Thu 25-Sep-08 08:00:02
Thanks for the help, and hello skiingone, beetle73, and s.o.everything, good to know there are some other people around! have ended up signing up for antenatal classes at the portland, almost same price as NCT and just round the corner!
Sososnoop - check out local pregnancy yoga and pilates classes in Marylebone (am sure there must be some around there) - great place to meet local mums to be. Am a bit further out (Queens Park) but due late Feb 09, though am a second timer so no need to do NCT again... NCT tends to get booked out ridiculously early - think nearest for you is Covent Garden or Notting Hill. Other things to look out for are breastfeeding support groups (if you're intending to breastfeed) - your midwife should be able to point you in the right direction.

Hi, Due early March 09 with second daughter. Live Bayswater.
Last time, when living in Maida Vale, had to go right down to Fulham for NCT classes.
Hi there, I'm 32 ,due wih my first in the beginning of April and live in Marylebone! I guess you'll be slightly in advance and I could get all the advance tips! Also had problems finding anyone else pregnant in my area.

The NCT is obviously very good for finding local people, but you usually don't meet your NCT group until a bit later on in the pregnancy.

Also have you tried your Mumsnet local board - you put your postcode in and it allocates you. I know there is one for Richmond, not sure if there would be one for Marylebone specifically or a wider section of London. Somewhere on mumsnet (I think it is in the Mumsnet Local) there is also a 'meet a mum' section.

Another useful site is Netmums which has local information and listings. (Not sure if I am supposed to mention that on here as it's no doubt a rival to Mumsnet)
