Thread 6 already shock

Smyths have a decent offer on at the moment, if you spend £20 or more you get £5 off with code SEP5
£50 or more £10 off with SEP10
£100 or more £20 off with SEP20

They have a few baby items, I could have used it after spending £100 on a car seat but I've already bought it now. Good deal though

Lovewatchingrainfall Sat 03-Sep-16 08:57:21

Wow can't believe thread 6 already. Thanks for the codes I shall have a browse later. X

Hello new thread!

Becci, I think with diabetes you're more likely to unexpectedly lose weight than gain it. Not sure if the same applies in pregnancy though.

goinggrey1978 Sat 03-Sep-16 09:26:56

Mark's place, I tried to Google whether I can take buttercup cough mixture last night but there was no definite answer, so going to ring the pharmacist this morning and see what they say!!

Tip there's a fantastic Facebook page for gestational diabetes. I'm in Northern Ireland and we only get referred for gtt if we have risk factors. Mine being that I've had bit babies. I've to get it in 2 weeks but have been following the advice on the fb page. Some lovely stories and great advice on it so highly recommended.

Marking my place grin

daisychain07 Sat 03-Sep-16 10:39:45

Marking my place! Back to work after 6 weeks school holidays on Monday. Feel like I'm on Mat leave already but in reality have 11 weeks left working.....55 days sounds better! X

KitKat1985 Sat 03-Sep-16 10:41:11

Thank you for the new thread Barking.

TipBoov sorry to hear you've got GD. Are you feeling generally well in yourself?

SouthDowns pleased to hear the scan has thrown up no new nasties. You've had more than enough to contend with without more bad news. Do you think your work will be willing to look at more work-at-home days for you or something so you don't have to commute so often?

For those of you not enjoying pregnancy, please don't feel bad about it. I didn't really enjoy my first pregnancy at all. I had lots of sickness and back pain and it was generally hard going. This time around hasn't been as bad (thank God with a toddler to run around after) but I'm starting to get aches and pains now, and work is getting more tiring. Lots of people don't enjoy pregnancy and that's fine.

Had my whooping cough vaccine yesterday. I'm fine in myself and haven't got a bruise my arm is sore.

Thank you to posters who replied to my birth concerns. I'm one of those people who like to know what I'm doing, but I think what stresses me out this time around is I'm going to have to see what happens on the day for labour really as to what I do / where I go. My intention due to being advised that my labour might be quick / assessed as being low risk, is to go to Eastbourne maternity unit as it's closer to me (15 minute drive) whereas the nearest consultant-led unit is Conquest hospital (45 minute drive) but I am anxious in case something goes wrong in labour, so I keep changing my mind as to what is best. Also if things start to progress really quickly, and my Mum isn't able to get over to look after DD, I might sound the midwifes out about home labour as a back-up option, especially if it's the middle of night and DD is asleep anyway. The not knowing what to do for the best really worries me!

Place marking smile

weechops Sat 03-Sep-16 11:53:32

Place marking for now. Had a rotten sleep last night so I'm having a wee lie down with the toddler for a nap grin

TipBoov Sat 03-Sep-16 11:59:29

becci no I haven't had any GD symptoms at all and don't have any of the risks for GD, so it was a surprise. I always thought GD = big baby, but she's lower on the percentiles (25th).

Thanks nojo I've just had a look on Facebook and asked to join some groups. I've not been gaining weight so I need to snack regularly and need some ideas of safe foods to eat now!

kitkat I'm feeling fine at the moment. Up until last week I was fainting after eating breakfast, but after starting on iron tablets that went away. Now I'm thinking it was probably GD related rather than low iron!
Glad you're not too sore after your whooping cough, I must get an appointment booked!

goinggrey1978 Sat 03-Sep-16 12:03:04

daisychain07, i went back to school yesterday too, i'm a learning support teacher, i too have about 11 weeks left at school, my class don't know i'm expecting yet, hopefully i'll get my 1:1 child to tell everyone on thursday when i get back from my 25 weeks midwife appointment, i want to make him feel part of it and not that i'm replacing him, he is very caring and was very upset when i had to have 10 weeks off at the beginning of my pregnancy due to catching gastroenteritis bug, he made me a beautiful card which made me cry, there's going to be 28 very excited children when they find out!!

veryfriendlylion Sat 03-Sep-16 12:05:27

just realised I put this on the previous thread..my brain is officially mush.

goinggrey you could try warm lemon and honey and drink lots and lots of water to help thin the mucus you're trying to cough up? With my nurse hat on, I've always found cough mixtures a bit of a con but I suppose if the placebo makes someone feel better then that's enough in itself! Some cough mixtures have pain killers/local anaesthetic in them so check it's a simple mixture (which is basically sugar and honey anyway!).

If the mucus is really dark and you feel unwell (and don't improve) I'd see your GP as your bump encroaching on your chest could be stopping you getting rid of the muck on your lungs and could result in chest infection. Hope you feel better soon!

....I realise that sounded really preachy

StubbleTurnips Sat 03-Sep-16 12:05:42

Checking in while on holiday!

becciandbump Sat 03-Sep-16 12:12:41

Bigfam Sat 03-Sep-16 12:19:18

Hope you're having a nice holiday StubbleTurnips dd3 is completely in love with my belly at the moment. She's gently laying her head on it & kissing it, it's so sweet. She's still a baby herself

daisychain07 Sat 03-Sep-16 12:26:11

Goinggrey the children at my school do not know either. They were asking me before the summer and had to tell them it was rude to say someone was fat blushthere is definitely no hiding it now though!!!

goinggrey1978 Sat 03-Sep-16 12:54:16

veryfriendlylion, thanks pharmicist said i had to see a doctor so waiting for them to call me back and not to take anything other than paracetamol

daisychain07, is it your first?? my work friends all noticed yesterday, but i was wearing maternity jeans and a fitted maternity top as well, i asked them if they were looking a my little watermelon!! lots said you can't hide it any more and my friend at work that is 6 weeks ahead of me was jealous as she's really sprouted but its her 2nd! plus i lost 2 and half stone since christmas eve and having the gastroenteritis bug as well, but its not my normal fatness at all!!

Bigfam Sat 03-Sep-16 12:58:31

My bump has definitely grown as well now.

DartmoorDoughnut Sat 03-Sep-16 13:17:32

Lovely bump bigfam I'm huge! Would take a photo but just got comfy on the sofa grin

SouthDownsSunshine Sat 03-Sep-16 13:32:02

kitkat I had most of my labour with dd at Eastbourne, it was amazing. Unfortunately we had to transfer to conquest, but we went back to Eastbourne for recovery and it was amazing again. They will err on the side of caution and transfer you early if they have any concerns.

We should have an Eastbourne mini meet smile are you on the fb group?
