Ha ha - I will borrow the MIL please. Hopefully she can help me see sense when I'm having a wobble!

CareBearWithFangs Mon 14-Apr-14 06:51:23

Mrsb I'm sure I've read somewhere that you might start producing milk when broody or hearing a baby cry while pregnant (and breast feeding). I was leaking milk way before DD was born last time, it used to leak whenever I was in the bath, very annoying but my milk supply was really good with DD.

I annoyingly woke at 6. DD still dead to the world so I should be getting more sleep but I'm too nervous about the scan. And I had horrible dreams about DP dying and leaving me with 2 children to care for alone.

mrsb87 Mon 14-Apr-14 09:01:16

Thanks carebear, that's reassuring to hear! I didn't think that sort of thing happened to early on!

puppythedog Mon 14-Apr-14 09:07:12

Marking my space on the thread. For all those with anxiety here is a website with some mindfulness activity mp3s on. I can highly recommend taking a few minutes to do one. It's difficult to reassure an anxiety but you can choose to focus on something else for a few minutes respite.

www.livingwell.org.au/mindfulness-exercises/

I think the site is for Men theoretically but the exercises are not.

ohthegoats Mon 14-Apr-14 09:55:12

I don't have a bump to speak of. I was/am a size 14, and just have a podgier tummy. I can feel harder areas beneath the podge, but if I wasn't a bit fat I'd not be showing anything different in the stomach area at all. What I've eaten affects things too, so I'm assuming some bloat element - I definitely feel fatter. My boobs are the same size other than some nipple changes. Part of me is worried, but My mum didn't show until gone 5 months though, so maybe I might take after her in some tiny way afterall.

STIGZ Mon 14-Apr-14 10:33:39

I think i am worrier by nature, but during my first pregnancy i think my worrying esculated gradually and a year after dd was born i ended up on anti-depressants as my anxiety levels went through the roof!! I also done cognitive behaviour therapy

I didnt enjoy my first pregnancy at all, it was when swine flu was doing the rounds and was so worried about getting the vaccine but also worried that if i didnt i would contract it and me and unborn would die!!

My advice would be to get advice from health professionals during your pregnancy and after regarding your mental health, dont be ashamed about discussing how you are feeling, you will feel a hundred times better getting it off your chest and knowing the doctor will advise on best course of treatment

I let mine get so bad because i thought what i was feeling was part of being a parent - but rushing round to my mums when i heard an ambulance and convinced myself it must be for DD was not normal parental anxiety!!

CareBearWithFangs Mon 14-Apr-14 12:18:30

So had my scan this morning. Nuchal test came back as slightly thicker than normal. 3.8 mm. There doing extra blood tests and sending me for another scan at a bigger hospital and then doing the amnio test thing. Very tearful morning sad don't really know what to think/feel at the moment.

Loulou888 Mon 14-Apr-14 12:26:57

Oh carebear I know its hard but try not to worry and be positive. Before this combined blood test thing they used to look for markers. At 20 weeks I went for my scan and they found 4 markers including increased nuchal fold all showed increased risk of abnormalities. I had a cvs. Had to wait 3 days for the results but all was okay and I had a healthy dd. it's a dreadful wait but I'm sure you will get a positive result lots fx for you x

Hi All, this is akachan - I couldn't seem to reset my password so I've just renamed!

I had my scan this morning all fine, nice wriggly baby! I've added myself to the list:

queenasanti3 Mon 14-Apr-14 13:11:43

Hi everyone, I was on the other threads but my name seems to missing from the new list so if anyone could add me on to it that woukd be great, thanks.

Queenasanti3 DC2 EDD 6th Oct.

Have people had much movement yet, anyone clearly looking pregnant, and whos planning on finding out what they are having ??? xx

I think I can feel that flutter feeling but not too sure, some days I actually forget iam pregnant as all symptoms seemed to have calmed down although my boobs do seem to be getting bigger and tender to touch.
I not sure if I want to find out, I have plenty of girl stuff as my dc 1 is only 8 months, so I keep looking at all the cute boy outfits in the shops just incase.

magichandles Mon 14-Apr-14 13:21:03

Oh carebear, I hope that you get the extra tests and scans done as quickly as possible so you can know for certain, it's useless to say not to worry but I know lots of people who have had the extra tests for what reason and the overwhelming majority have had a good outcome.

Scan this afternoon, I'm excited but a bit nervous as well.

anotherRoo Mon 14-Apr-14 13:31:48

Hi all;

No idea what I'm doing, hormones all over the place, scared but very excited. Dating scan next week...

Mum2kiss - I've only just popped on here for first time in a while (last read thread 2) so I don't know the back story to your sour taste in the mouth but I was having this too. Really really bad and it would make me retch and be sick. After lots of fiddling with my diet it turns out it was milk making me feel like this - I cut out milk from cereal, tea, butter and cheese and started to feel loads better. It only comes back now if I eat something that I don't realise has milk in (some crisps are an offender as they have milk powder in!!!!) I've gradually been able to reintroduce butter and milk in tea plus bread but large quantities still affect me. I wonder if you might feel better if you experiment with cutting it out?! Hope that helps!

mum2kiss Mon 14-Apr-14 14:18:08

tweetinat you might be on to something! I was dairy intolerant as a child (as was dc1 whilst I was breast feeding which is making me think I'll need to cut it out whilst bf-ing this baby) and the sour taste is worse when I eat my breakfast cereal in the mornings...cutting out milk is soooo hard though!

I think my nausea has come back with a vengeance. Yesterday when I was was out with DH and DD2 I had to make a pit stop and some bushes so I could throw up my lunch!!! I am 12+5 days and I want this to stop!! I never had this with my other 2 pregnancies. I keep hoping the next week I will feel better!

Plus side we have our 20 weeks scan appointment on 5 June. Very excited as we want to find out the sex!

funtimesahead Mon 14-Apr-14 14:52:38

Hello! New to mn and no idea how this works, could someone add me to the list please? First baby due 1st October, hasn't really sunk in yet!

Kirstipops Mon 14-Apr-14 17:23:56

Had my 16 week check today, all my bloods came back fine, BP is down which I'm very chuffed about, and I got to hear the good strong heartbeat pounding away at 150bpm, it was amazing! Midwife brought the Doppler out again at the end of the appointment so I could record it on my phone. Sounds like a little dog barking, happy days smile

Me23 Mon 14-Apr-14 17:51:35

care I'm sorry to hear you have had a raised nt, did you get to speak to a consultant today? Do you know when your next scan is? Hopefully soon. Try to stay positive the majority of the time the baby is fine.

Hi all

Back from telling dp's parents. They were delighted. I misjudged his mum though -no tears, but a fist pump! I was travel sick the whole journey -I don't usually get this on motorways- which was no fun. Dp's mum said "now all I need is a ring on your finger" to which I replied "oh no, none of that". The clue is in the way she phrases it though "now all I need.." Yes exactly. But it's not about you. Grrrr. She dropped it after this though so I didn't want to bring it back up just to spell out it's definately not an option. I just wish she would accept it, I can't be dealing with another 13 years of her going on!

Sorry you've that worry carebear I think loulou makes a good point though I know it won't be easy to relax until you have more information <hugs>

Kirsti that sounds so lovely I can't wait for my next appt!

Hope everyone else is feeling a little better after airing anxieties.

Hia Fedup <waves>

Going to add myself to the stats now smile

CareBearWithFangs Mon 14-Apr-14 18:52:36

I spoke to a consultant today but I was in tears and a lot of it went over my head. Thankfully my next scan is on weds so at least I don't have to wait to long. We have to be in Leeds for 9 though so dreading setting off from here at 7 and the busy train journey there. I'm a bit confused about what's going to happen on weds. Will they do they cvs thing on weds or is it just a scan?

Just trying to keep myself distracted until then.

CareBearWithFangs Mon 14-Apr-14 18:53:41

London the image of you mil fist pumping has made me giggle grin
