Hi Natty,

I was prescribed 3 months of 50mg Clomid, starting in Feb this year. I don't have PCOS but apparently I do not ovulate very often at all (previously 18 months ttc with one m/c in Nov '05)

I got pg in the first month and am now 25 weeks pg. Know there are quite a few others on Mumsnet who have similar stories...

Good Luck!

Hi Natty - I haven't had personal exp of Clomid but Jools Oliver conceived her 1st daughter after being prescribed Clomid - she talks about it in her book -9 to 1, might be worth a read x

hi i have been prescribed clomid, but am waiting to take it so far af is 8 days late but have been ttc of over 2 years so not holding my breath

magnolia1 Mon 07-Aug-06 16:43:21

I had over 6 months of Clomid for 1st dughter and again for twins. I don't ovulate vey often so in all it took 3 years for 1st daughter and 3 years for twins both times trying for a year and then Clomid for 6 months at a time with a few months break in between. It still took 2 years of on/off clomid for me to concieve.
But since then I had dd4 without clomid and it took 3 years and this one is due in December and dd4 will be 3.5yrs so I guess my body just has babies every 3-4 years

Kaloo20 Mon 07-Aug-06 16:57:42

Yep twice.
Both times, worked first month
by then, I was sure that I could only become pregnant using clomid. ....I fell again without clomid when dd was 3.5 months old !

be careful - and good luck

Not me but a good friend got pg with her DS on her 2nd go at clomid. She started ttc again when her DS was 1(without clomid) and got pg straight away with twins!!!

Good luck for your treatment - hope you get your BFP soon.

X

Hi Natty1806 - I moved onto injectibles for a couple of months after clomid then had three IVF cycles all failed, I then decided to stop with the fertility treatment and consider adoption. I'm hoping to be adopting in Sept/Oct this year, which will be 2.5 years since my last IVF.

I'm told clomid works in about 85% of cases.

Natty1806 Mon 07-Aug-06 18:18:01

Thanks ladies you have given me some hope fingers crossed i will be a lucky one.

Sorry Sue that IVF did not work for you and wish you success in adopting

Thank you and good luck to you too - no reason why you shouldn't be lucky - most poeple are on Clomid.

yes the book's quite good - It comes across as a very honest account of how she felt going through ttc to having 2 kids very suddenly (she also had Clomid for DD1 but DD2 conceived unexpectantly very quickly after birth of DD1). She's also quite good at laughing at herself. She makes it quite clear that the book is just her personal account and is not trying to give advice etc...

Good luck.

After ages trying to conceive and endless tests, clomid worked for me first time - I couldn't believe it and now have a beautiful 6 month old baby girl. Word of warning though, just as some of the others have said - I am now three months pregnant with number 2 - no clomid needed this time. Still a bit in shock but pleased nonetheless. Good luck.

Lilymaid Wed 09-Aug-06 13:45:03

It worked for me first time too when trying for DS2 - I hope you have similar results!

Natty1806 Wed 09-Aug-06 20:20:05

Oh i really hope it works first time for me too.

I am loving these keep them coming if anyone else reads this.

suejonez Wed 09-Aug-06 22:45:44

I had a year of clomid and then other things and now have a 12 week old asleep in his cot. I know it is hard and sometimes it doesn't seem like anything will work but stick with it........it works for most, honest.

kateyp Fri 11-Aug-06 17:34:59

Yep - 3 months worth in 2004 and am looking at a very lively 20month old outcome!! Made me go nuts whilst i was taking it but my DS is more than worth it!!

Hello Ladies you all have giving so much hope as i read your stories..I started not to post un til I was sure but I thought to post anyway if not for anything elso the surport so here is my long story.Iam 28 and DH is 37 and I just completed my 1st round of clomid US showed to FOl. one on the left and one onr the right my LH went from 12.1 to 61.3 in 24 hrs. and then my DR> said it was time to do IUI the next day SO DH goes to give up some swimmers 1st day was 21million and 2nd day was 35million so he did his part so then I went and had the IUI done but sitting in the waiting room I was so crampy like never before not to mention bloated I felt like I would bust so once inside the exam room I got the IUI done then I went home eat and took a nap and when i woke up I knew I had O while I was asleep becuase the cramps where gone and I felt like someone had let the air out of a hot air balloon and sure enough when I want Back to DR.for 2nd iui he said i had o so whish me luck will update on 1/107 hopefully good news.I think it worked.Good luck to all and god bless you all...and lots of babydust

Hi all, I naughtily and some would say stupidly (I do work in A&E though so got myself checked out before taking it)purchased some Clomid over the counter on holiday in Greece as after 3 miscarriages and 3 subsequent years of trying again with no result my GP still wouldn't prescribe anything. That was last October and although during taking it I didn't conceive I am now 14 weeks pregnant and I took nothing else in between. I like to think it might have given my ovaries a boost so good luck!

Twiglett Mon 01-Jan-07 16:11:43

I had secondary infertility .. after birth of DS my cycle settled down with a short post-luteal phase .. so even though I was ovulating there wasn't long enough between ovulation and period starting (10 days) for me to conceive

was on 50mg clomid day 1 - 5 ... conceived DD first cycle of using it

good luck

Seansgirl Mon 01-Jan-07 18:15:25

Hi Natty,

I took clomoid for for two lots of six month cycles with a couple of months of break in between came off it at the end of May was told IVF or nothing and conceived in the beginning of July. I now have a beautiful little girl who is nearly 4. We started to try for no2 quite quickly nothing doing so took clomoid for 9 months finished it end of August (2006) and conceived in September, I am now 15 weeks prg. Clearly for me the month straight after finishing clomoid is a good time for me.

However, I know two other friends who took it one conceived in first month, the other about month 6, although she is trying for no2 and has just taken it for 12 months and it hasnt worked.

I think everyone is different and it obviously works well for the majority! Good luck, keep smiling and try to relax (easier said than done I know )

I'm obviously the same, Seansgirl - was given Clomid in March last year for three months, nothing happened while taking it, then when it finished got PG in June exactly three years after we started trying. LO due March.

Natty, good luck. I was given clomid because they thought I wasn't ovulating following chemical and surgical treatment for endometriosis and ovarian cysts btw. I really hope it works for you.
