Got my line at 10dpo
This will be my secomd dc. Torn between delight and fear it will all go wrong. Dd october 3 by my reckoning.
Cant tell anyone except dh in real life so hoping i can get quietly excited here!

RainbowsFriend Thu 14-Feb-13 21:02:26

... and I've just realised that I'm the oldest on the list as well aren't I?! I was the oldest in our antenatal group with DD by a long shot...

<old gimmer emoticon>

Maybe it's just old age and knackeredness thats causing me to feel rough! grin

Pinkush Thu 14-Feb-13 21:05:47

Hi gang, Happy Valentine's! Despite my nausea I am digging deep and ploughing through the chocolates, although gagged when I got to a champagne truffle!

Santa So sorry to hear your news. Wishing you all the best. Thanks for your advice on EPAU- I used to work in one and know how precious the resources are. Sadly I've just heard that our local one is closing down in the autumn....

Soup Hope you get some relief from the double whammy of cream and pessary. If things don't settle it's safe to repeat the treatment again or you can ask for 3 lower dose pessaries to use on consecutive nights. Oh the glamour of pregnancy! And make sure you get your maternity exemption so you're not paying for prescriptions.

pInk How was the meal deal? I'm hoping they've still got some left tomorrow, although think I'll be tempted by a rare steakgrin. DH is at work tonight so hoping for a night of stuffing my face/falling asleep in front of the TV romance tomorrow!

Delilah and Euro- massive congratulations and looking forward to seeing both your names popping up on the thread!

Update here: told my folks at the weekend which was lovely and will tell the in-laws tomorrow. Also tempted to tell my best mate this weekend but been instructed by DH not to tell anyone else until scan. Saw GP yesterday- was a world record- in and out in <60 secs and didn't even take my blood pressure! Roll on midwife appt....

Anyone buggy hunting yet? I'm becoming obsessive lol and have no idea wat I want any recommendations welcome xx

PseudoBadger Thu 14-Feb-13 21:14:57

Hi, hope everyone's ok. We had the yummy M&S meal deal tonight - beef Wellington was lovely grin

Re buggies we got an icandy apple for DD. It is very good, and the grandparents use it all the time on the cross country hikes they do on their day with her - but we never use it as we got into slings instead!

pinkbuttons Thu 14-Feb-13 21:31:27

So sorry to hear your added worry santa really hope your bean has caught up with dates next week and you get good news.
pseudo am jealous of beef wellington! really fancied that and theyd run out. We had lamb instead and was actually really good. would definitely reccomend pinkush especially the chocolatey pudding, it was amazing!!!

seeing 2 of my best mum friends tomorrow and its likely they will ask if we're pregnant (especially as one will arrive whilst im probably still going to be sick) not sure if courageous enough to tell them yet though. worried ill jinx something as silly as that sounds...

Happy Valentines Day everyone!!

PseudoBadger Thu 14-Feb-13 21:46:27

It was lovely pinkbuttons grin
And dp got me a massive bunch of flowers completely unexpectedly so that was nice smile
I feel fine so far (5 weeks tomorrow) but I know that it'll probably change pretty soon....

char1eston Thu 14-Feb-13 21:47:16

Hi ladies - happy valentines!
Welcome to all the newbies and congrats on the bfp's.
Sorry to hear your news Santa - take care. hmm
Welcome back Delilah, good to see you on here smile
Had my gp app on tuesday and it wasn't the in and out I expected. Got weighed, had my bp taken and I was given a flu jab! Phoned the mw to make an app and got one that afternoon. Have my booking in app next Friday, when I'll be 9 weeks.
Don't have many symptoms - mainly tiredness and hunger. With dd, I had ridiculously sore boobs but nothing this time.
Tummy feels like it's getting bigger but I haven't been eating very healthily. Need to start getting the salads in!

Topslou Thu 14-Feb-13 22:23:56

Evening all. Hope you've had a lovely Valentines day. It gets completely overlooked in our house & today has been no exception. We did get an Indian takeaway which was gorgeous but then the football got turned on so I've come to bed.

I'm not sure who was asking about nick names for the baby so apologies. Ours had been named Babycake. Not sure why but I like it & it's stuck so far.

I read in a magazine last week about writing a journal of all you're thoughts, feelings etc. Well I started mine tonight and have done it in the form of a letter to the baby. I was only one line and had tears streaming down my face but it feels great to have done it. I'm not normally someone to express my feelings so its definitely the hormones kicking in!

Can someone add me to the list please as I'm not getting anywhere near a computer at the moment. Ta

Added you Topslou, hopefully in the right place!
Now time for AF has safely passed, I feel confident enough to add my name to the list.

In terms of nicknames, dh is calling ours 'mini-me'. Mini-us is too hard to say apparently! He's very pleased, which is so lovely. As am I of course.

Rockchick1984 Fri 15-Feb-13 08:54:14

Hi ladies! Santa I'm so sorry to hear things haven't gone well.

Re prams, we have a babystyle oyster for DS which I love, but am going to need a double pram as we walk literally everywhere, and there's no chance DS will walk all that far every day! Narrowed it down to either ICandy Peach Blossom or Baby Jogger City Select. Rainbow I'm also a sling addict, trying to decide if I can justify another to be just for the baby smile

RainbowsFriend Fri 15-Feb-13 09:14:22

There is always reason for another sling! DD has been a bit of a wrap refuser recently so I'm using the pregnancy as an excuse to start window shopping again grin

I'd love a silver grey indio, or autumn blue indio for a squish smile

roofio87 Fri 15-Feb-13 09:25:53

Rainbow and Rockchick are the slings quite supportive for the mother?! I've never used one obviously (1st dc here!) I get quite bad lower back pain anyway since having surgery 2 years ago (I had a neck dissection with lots of muscle etc removed from my neck and its thrown my posture etc totally off!) and its already killing me not at 6+3. worried its going to get worse through the pg and then I'm defo not going to want to carry my baby far when I no longer have to!!!Haha. are they comfortable in general though? maybe I'll have to see how the next 7 months go!!smile

PseudoBadger Fri 15-Feb-13 09:29:31

I have a connecta integra which I loved with DS, but I'd like a new wrap for when this DC is tiny so I don't have to buy a double buggy

Tarlia Fri 15-Feb-13 10:12:49

roofio I can def reccoment the ergo baby. I too have back problems and was able to carry my comfortably for a good walk until over a year, since then just short periods. He is a very tall and heavy boy. We'd previously had baby bjorn and I'd had to stop using it at around 4 months as it hurt so much.

Sal1977 Fri 15-Feb-13 10:17:50

Happy Friday Motherships!

Here's a random question....does anyone's boobs hurt more at night than in the morning? Also can anyone recommend a good place to buy a soft bra to sleep in?

My boobs are really tender when I take my bra off at night and swing around like blinking udders as they're now so big, so I think a nice comfy bra to sleep in may help. Come the morning, they barely hurt at all and I then proceed to have a panic that they don't hurt any more.

Am I nuts?

cazboldy Fri 15-Feb-13 10:30:42

no Sal - not nuts!

Exactly the same here x

StrawberryGateaux Fri 15-Feb-13 11:06:32

Hello there, can i join?smile
I'm a regular poster, under disguise as i don't want my family/friends who no my mn name to know just yet.
Found out i was pregnant 2 days ago, was a big shock, this will be baby no5!
By my estimations, i'm due October 17th smile

Tarlia Fri 15-Feb-13 11:15:33

Welcome and congratulations, strawberry.

Sal I can highly recommend these Fab at keeping pads in place if you plan to bf too or just in early lazy days. I'm most certainly getting myself some more this time.

StrawberryGateaux Fri 15-Feb-13 11:20:29

Thankyou Tarlia x

Rockchick1984 Fri 15-Feb-13 12:06:44

Roofio if you get a sling which supports the baby in a frog legged position (basically anything on www.lovetobenatural.co.uk or www.kangarinos.co.uk which are 2 sites I've used) then it should be fantastic for you - my DH has loads of back problems but can still happily use a sling with our 2 stone DS! Something like a baby bjorn where the baby's legs dangle isn't anywhere near as supportive for parent or baby, and really hurts your back.

Rockchick1984 Fri 15-Feb-13 12:07:15

Oh Santa I'm sorry to hear your news sad

Thanks Roxvox for thinking of me. Well, I did go to the Dr and got my blood test yesterday, no results yet. I'll go back on Tuesday for another one, so they can compare. But tbh I'm back feeling much more pregnant again, so I'm feeling quite hopeful currently.

We are spending time with DP's brother and mum this weekend and are going to tell them (cos they'll know or suspect when I'm not drinking) - he's excited about that.

And in other extremely exciting news, my sister (I mentioned she had a mc last year) has just tested positive today at 9dpo! I'm so excited, that would mean we are three weeks apart. We are very close and it will be lovely to go through this with her.
