Happy 2013 one and all!

dinkystinky Wed 09-Jan-13 21:56:46

Glad you are home Arkady and hope your girls are giving you and DH lots of hugs. Of course you are welcome to stay.

MarieKL Wed 09-Jan-13 22:21:05

Arkady so sorry to hear your news. My thoughts are with you and your family. Would love you to stay for as long as you want.

CitizenOscar Wed 09-Jan-13 22:30:13

So sorry for your loss, Arkady sad

Now I'm starting to worry a wee bit. Had quite a bit of backache & a few cramps yesterday. I've been having quite a lot of discharge the last few days too. Its not blood stained or dark but there is a lot of it.

I'm hoping the back ache is due to the amount of driving I've been doing. I've got a scan tomorrow which can't come quick enough.

Arkady stick around for as long as you like & hopefully, when you feel up to it, you'll be on another antenatal club soon x

dinkystinky Thu 10-Jan-13 10:59:22

Flying - can you do mobilsation exercises (cat stretch is good) to see if it helps alleviate the back pain? If you're worried, do call the EPU or your midwife or GP.

flyingsprocket Thu 10-Jan-13 11:06:21

Thanks dinky I did exactly that this morning & it did seem to help. I was shocked this morning when I tried to do a sun salutation that I used to do every morning (but haven't since Christmas!) and couldn't touch my toes shock I don't even have a bump yet!!

The stretching helped & I don't have any cramps today so fingers crossed all is well. I'm not a worrier & hope this pregnancy doesn't turn me into one.

dinkystinky Thu 10-Jan-13 12:08:07

Dont worry Flying - its ok to be worried about stuff - its all new to you (and your body)!

Other top tip if you're driving/sitting loads is to get an exercise ball and sit on it at home. Try rolling it backwards and forwards and round in circles (clockwise and anticlockwise) and it will really loosen up your lower back. Be careful with sun salutation as you will need to adapt your exercises as pregnancy progresses - may be worth checking out pregnancy yoga dvd/websites/apps or classes to get a good idea of different exercises you can do at home at different stages. If it helps, I've never really been able to touch my toes grin

Hi everyone - not been back to the thread for a while as I've been really struggling with hyperemisis. I feel marginally better now though and am ready to start feeling excited! I've booked a Babybond gender scan a week on Monday when I'll be 16+1 - is anyone else thinking about doing this? Have namechanged from my Xmas name - used to be TheQueensChristmasDinner.

Wish me luck guys I'm telling my boss today. Keep having meetings on all the big projects coming in June, I can't sit there give hours with presentations staring at me with my name on it, think its best to give them a fair warning. Just wish I didn't hate my boss so much :/

dinkystinky Thu 10-Jan-13 13:19:36

Hi Differentnow - sorry to hear you've been suffering so. Are you married to a certain member of the royal family? wink Glad its starting to get better. I'll probably find out at the 20 week scan if DC is cooperating (found out then with the other 2 as well) as helps narrow the baby name discussions down to one gender (and we have to argue about an english and a hindu name so plenty of veto fodder)!

Good luck photographerlady!

BadMissM Thu 10-Jan-13 13:46:14

dinkystinky with DD had to argue between and English/French/Breton name... That was fun. Anything that didn't mean something rude or stupid in the other languages was impossible for anyone to pronounce...!

I haven't even told my parents yet....

DifferentNow Thu 10-Jan-13 13:52:03

Hello Dinky - if I were Kate, I think my inlaws might have something to say about me having four other DC! DH and I going to Babybond scan alone and will be keeping it to ourselves (obviously will tell on MN!) and will take the DC to the 20 week one where they'll hopefully reveal the same thing!

Good luck photographerlady!

DifferentNow Thu 10-Jan-13 13:55:11

I'm fed up discussing names with DH and we've decided to wait until we know the sex and then at least it's only 1 name to argue about.

JessicaMLH Thu 10-Jan-13 14:33:23

Hi everyone!

adding myself to the list as I didn't before, hopefully scan on tues will still have me due in July as DDs birthday is already August!

has anyone else been told they don't need a full bladder for their 12 wk scan? My letter says I don't need one and if they have problems they just do an internal scan shudder
I'm in a different area/hospital to where I had DD so I don't know if this is normal, everywhere else, books internet etc, says you need a full bladder confused

Ok - that sounds difficult to navigate BadMissM!

Jessica - just drink normally. I'd only had one drink before my 12 week scan and they could see everything fine. When Ihad my 12 wk scan with DS2 I got told off for having an overfull bladder that made it hard for them to scan accurately.

JessicaMLH Thu 10-Jan-13 14:43:59

Thanks dinky smile
I will aim for a half full bladder!

Had the same as you with DDs 20wk scan, they told me to have a full bladder at reception, but the lady doing the scan said it was too full and sent me to the loo. Had a massive bump as nearly wet myself, all for nothing haha

MightBeMad Thu 10-Jan-13 14:57:23

I was kept waiting 2.5 hrs for my scan and had been forced by mother nature to empty my bladder only 30 sec before I was called for my scan. Sonographer wasn't worried and coud see everything fine.

JessicaMLH Thu 10-Jan-13 15:18:36

2.5 hours!!!! My god... Well if mother nature hadn't done it, I'm betting the pressing on your uterus would have done for sure grin

TwoOfThree Thu 10-Jan-13 15:38:31

Good luck photographerlady I'm trying to pluck up the courage to do the same! I've been wanting to tell all week but he's been off sick and he's not coming in tomorrow so today is the day! He's already got a face like thunder though - Gulp!

CottonSock Thu 10-Jan-13 15:49:42

Hi ladies. My bladder was a bit too full at scan too.
Anyone know best place to get a swimming cossie? For lengths so with good boob support!

photographerlady Thu 10-Jan-13 16:24:06

Well have to wait til tomorrow to tell the boss, he flaked out on our meeting. It's hard to know when to tell them but I'm hoping to take my leave after a month of annual leave so would be before May.

Anyway will add my new DD July 15th

Hi all, came on yesterday to post, post scan and saw Arkady's news and just couldn't as I know at least 3 of us were being scanned yesterday. Anyway, all is well here, back two days so new edd of July 22nd (will update when not on phone). Bean was jumping and dancing around like a wild thing, was very funny to watch.

arkady hope you're being looked after.

photographer how did telling work go?

photographerlady Thu 10-Jan-13 16:59:57

orange telling tomorrow. Originally was going to wait til the end of the month and hand in the letter but just going to spill it to my boss cause at the end if the month will tell them I want the last week of April off onwards

Abzs Thu 10-Jan-13 17:27:00

CottonSock - you want a proper sports shop, the kind you hockeys sticks and school rugby jerseys from. Failing that, nerves of steel, infinite patience and a Sports Direct...

In other news, I have never been able to touch my toes (gym club leader despaired of me before I was 9) and was also prodded vigourously by the sonographer to make Small turn over. Is it too early to attribute stubborness?

Abzs Thu 10-Jan-13 17:28:52

That should be

"the kind you buy hockey sticks and..."

Is that how you spell "vigourously"? I doubt myself.
