March 2013 VIII: feeling kicks, comparing knits and halfway there

mandasand Sat 03-Nov-12 23:27:03

mega post alert ... !

Sheldon gosh, fancy not actually being allowed to record the scan! Doesn't totally surprise me, but I can't imagine what the rationale behind that policy is…

Zoey sounds like you and DH have made up smile

Em we were talking about not sitting the kids on the sofa till they are v. old! <evil grin> Yay for your burst of energy smile

Backward you so have to go for that job! Sounds great! Timing is sometimes a pain, but if you're the right person then hopefully they will be imaginative about it! Fingers crossed for you.

Lanny yay for a girl! Aww, the emotion and then the tiredness is completely understandable! Hope you felt good on wake-up.

Tramp I was first girl at primary school to have to wear a bra and had the p*ss taken mercilessly - kids can be cruel!

Flowery what a long shift that would have been - glad it was more like a half day. Your DH sounds v. thoughtful, bless. Wow, big job ahead with the house move! I quite like packing - the sorting, organisation etc.

Ood like new name - well done JoJo!

Re weight I've not owned scales for years. I just go off what I look like in the mirror and jog accordingly although last year when trying to shift the last bit of USA weight I did go through a phase of getting myself properly weighed in Boots once weekly. Bit soul-destroying! I know I'm about a stone too heavy, without the pregnancy. What has amazed me is that I only seem to be gaining around the bump - it's really well-defined. The rest of me looks quite trim. Have no idea about arse-creep tho and DH would NEVER mention it, thank goodness!!! Am interested to see how much I'm weighing on Tues at hospital.

MyJob sounds like a lovely morning!

Hermione cleaner came with nothing, so it's a good job we were well stocked up! The agency websites I looked at seemed to suggest they brought stuff. I think, regardless, given the allergies you could insist on Ecover or whatever you need to have and they would just have to deal with that. We have half Ecover stuff and then half intense bleach and limescale remover stuff - a weird combination, really! Yikes re uncomfy kicks already! I'm feeling grateful for my anterior placentas, altho in the pub tonight I'm sure I felt movements behind them, in the middle - not had that before.

Lexi yay for new hair! Did you feel like you'd just stepped out of a salon? Nice, that. In a bit I'm going to go for a pedicure or maybe / also reflexology thingy. Feel like I could do with a wee bit of pampering.

Pink I feel for you not having your kitchen! Sounds like you're nearly through the worst of it now - and now the painting and decorating fun begins smile

Gummi my bump sore today too. And I'm getting even BIGGER, yikes! I had real trouble walking back from the pub tonight, too. I can't fathom how I'm going to get through another 3.5 months of growth shock Crikey, well spotted re nearing the end of the thread! Wow, we can TALK!

Count welcome!

Had a very nice day with DH and MiL. Caught up with a bit of marking this morning, then we drove out to Farrow and Ball and picked some colours for the living room walls without getting the testers first (quite radical for me!) DH did the picture rail and ceiling done in a gentle white (http://www.farrow-ball.com/wimborne-white/colours//fcp-product/100239) last week or two. And this afternoon we did one coat on the three walls (Skimming Stone http://www.farrow-ball.com/skimming-stone/colours//fcp-product/100241). And a patch on the chimney-breast feature-wall just to see how it would look (Brassica http://www.farrow-ball.com/brassica/colours//fcp-product/100271). We're really, really pleased with it (and DH actually getting interested in how colour changes a room!) Found a damp patch behind a corner unit which was a bit of a pain, but we can sort it no probs.

In other news, had a quiet evening in our local with the papers. I was a bit bold and sent my really crap dinner back. They didn't charge for it and I got a free pudding. Cheap date, me, as I said to DH.

theTramp Sat 03-Nov-12 23:19:14

Potted being auto coRrect for optrex, obviously!

theTramp Sat 03-Nov-12 23:18:13

Lexi - glad to hear you had a good day and that some pampering was sorted. As you say, makes you feel better.

Lani - congrats on scan news and baby girl news.

Welcome Count.

We went on v long walk today, MrM thinks it was a good 6 miles. Anyway, was a nice day for it and we explores a bit more of the area. Then home, quick shower and out again. Home now, pathetically early really. Bday bash was held in outside space, so bloody cold. Cold was ok it was the smoking that got to me. Bloomin heck so many people still smoke! Anyway had to head early was just too vile so made apologies to bday girl. Am now tucked under duvet with one cat who requires firework bang reassurance and another that just wants usual cuddles and with my blood red eyes thanks to all the fag ends earlier (splutter). Damn where's the potted when you need it!

Flowery - you're v patient. I just told MrM what I was doing and got on and paid for it. No way I was arsing about spending days packing! Anyway, good luck my dear as it sounds like you'll need it just to stop yourself from packing him in frustration ;)

LexiandBeanette Sat 03-Nov-12 22:24:43

Tramp I'm good, thank-you! Feeling much better and have been out and about all day and thus not on MN very much. Had hair done, really needed a cut and restyle so feel much more "myself". Caught up with a friend for a non-alcoholic beer and also bought some nice stuff from Boots to give myself a bit of a pamper. I'm also totally with you on avoiding the scales; at 20 weeks I'd put on 5kg which seemed a lot and it stressed me out so much I haven't weighed since!
Interesting your comments about Socs taking after you; DH is convinced Beanette has my rather 'strong' pointy chin, poor little thing! And she also looked to have long fingers and toes like me.
zoey your DH is brave - mine wouldn't dare unleash the wrath by commenting on my arse!
Ood glad the delay won't be too disruptive.
manda also snickering at thought of you using DH's trimmer!
Ethel sorry about DD & the sofa! Hope it is easily cleaned!
Welcome count and congratulations! And congratulations lanny on your girl bean! smile

Hamnvik Sat 03-Nov-12 20:30:37

Welcome Countmyblessings!

As for the weight thing I don't have scales but I don't think I've put on an excessive amount of weight. The weight I have put on has on gone on my sides/hips though, I got a lovely new crop of stretch marks already :-(

I have made a list of baby stuff today, its longer than I thought it would be! How many baby grows/vests do you need? Any one else made a list and would like to compare?

Just had curry for tea and am now getting big kicks!

Countmyblessings Sat 03-Nov-12 19:52:38

Thanks for the welcome!
Zoey - we were on a " loss thread, losing our sears on previous buses"as we were both due in December 12!

Sheldonella Sat 03-Nov-12 17:18:57

Thanks Flowery I cracked and ordered it. It was reduced to £27 so I thought it was worth a try.

Plus my mum gave me money for Moses basket as she knows I like to pick things, but still debating if I need one as have crib in bed room, a mamma and pappa bouncy chair thing that has adjustable heights and plays music and vibrates for living room but DH said he would like a Moses basket for day so baby can lay totally flat- hmmmmm so much stuff for a tiny person!!!!dont envy you need 2 of everything Manda

Em2010 Sat 03-Nov-12 15:03:49

Afternoon All, just a quick hello from me! Have a sudden burst of energy at the mo and trying to make the most of it! Hope everyone is having lovely afternoons x

FloweryBoots Sat 03-Nov-12 15:00:02

Sheld I borrowed a Wilkinet from my sister last time. I really liked it, DS seemed very comfy and I found it comfy and really spread the weight well. Also liked that when bigger you can put them on your back in a Wilkinet. Can take a bit of getting used to putting it on adn being a bit short I did get a bit tangled in the straps when taking it off! DH hated it though. He just never felt confident in anything held on by knots so anything other than something like a baby bjorn was never going to suit him.

I'm far from being big of boob though so can't comment on that aspect. My sis is begger boobed than me, and bigger generally and she liked it. Her DH liked it too, so much so that they had two - his and hers! But Sis is short like me and her DH is 6ft 4 so he had one with extra long straps!

GummiberryJuice Sat 03-Nov-12 14:27:21

Afternoon bumps, need a new thread soon, half way milestone the marchers are bumping along or something, I was better at thread titles when I was on the slatterns.

Feeling better today, had a sore bump yesterday, not many flumps and an annoying phonecall from my mum made one grumpy gummi

Brought dd2 birthday shopping today and her cake is baking, dh and I are off to John Bishop tonight makes a happy but tired gummi

Sheldonella Sat 03-Nov-12 14:15:15

Has anyone ever used a Wilkinet carrier (particularly those large of boob)? I've seen one going cheap and quite like the look of it.

possom Go for it with the job. I'm sure they could work around you being pg if you are ideal for it. Good luck!

kirsty Last time I weighted myself I had put on about 8lb I think. Some days it is more, some less. All sounds normal to me.

Oh zoey bum comments definitely not allowed!

Flowery Packing up is annoying isn't it. When we moved to our house we decided to attempt the whole lot in a small hatchback. It took a whole week and a lot of pain!

Oodthunkit Sat 03-Nov-12 13:55:17

pink not so far but they are v achy and get cold and wet.

pinkpeony4 Sat 03-Nov-12 13:19:53

Kirsty I refuse to weigh myself but am sure I have gained at least a stone. I am really not going to worry about it. In my other pregnancies I gained 2-3 stone and lost it all very quickly due to breastfeeding & running around after the other boys. I was back in my pre-pregnancy jeans 2 weeks after ds3! I eat what I want when pregnant and am very healthy & exercise lots when not. I think it all evens out.

Ethel I feel for you with your wee'd on leg/sofa. We had ours steam cleaned a few weeks ago and 1 week later ds2 fell asleep on the sofa and when he woke up he had wet himself all over it - grrrr!!

Zoey glad you had fun last night, apart from the argument of course. The fireworks we went to were amazing. Boys had hotdogs and candy floss so were on a lovely sugar high! Enjoy yours tonight Myjobis

Sheldon the nighty does say one size which I always think is strange too!

Ood glad the gloves help. Do you get blisters otherwise? I have hard patches of skin on my hands from pushing the buggy!

Flowery best money ever spent was getting a removal company to pack and move us when we moved 3 years ago. Moving house is hellish but having someone do that was amazing. One guy packed our whole house in one day, it would have taken me about 1 week! Especially with 2 small boys around at the same time.

Backward good luck with your job application.

Just spent a freezing morning watching ds1 play football. It's a beautiful day but not great for standing around in. We were supposed to be going to friends but they have the norovirus & there is no way I would risk any of us getting that! Builders here today and dust is horrific. Eyes ache from it! Hopefully today is the last day of the really dusty work and then it's just decorating. It's very hard not having a kitchen though.

I have booked a babybond 4d scan for the 24th Nov which will be 26 weeks so very excited about that. We are going to take ds1/2 so hopefully they will enjoy it.

Hope everyone else is Ok? Enjoy your weekends

HermioneBoo Sat 03-Nov-12 13:18:46

kirsty I've put 10lbs on since 19th July, I read that by 21 weeks weight gain should be between 8-14lbs so you are fine, a good (sorry TMI alert) poo and upping your fluids to shift the water weight and would bring you well within that. I was really into my nutrition and sports before getting pregnant so I kind of have the mindset that if you eat clean and move often your body will do what it needs to. You've nothing to worry about smile oh and I'd def get that bra checked out.

Just returned from Mothercare as I really wanted a bra fitting done, however I chickened out and just did it myself. Last time I checked I'd gone from a 30DD to a 32E, now I'm a 34E. My bump has grown 5cm in a week so I also got some new jeans as my old trousers haven't a snowballs chance of fitting me now, or rather they do with my bumpband but they're bloody uncomfortable and I have to keep adjusting!

manda I've been seriously considering a cleaner for when BabyBoo arrives, but because of DH's asthma I have to be careful what cleaning chemicals are used, does your cleaner use her stuff or your cleaning stuff? I'd have to clear the house up of all the decorating stuff too, I def don't live in a house where's there's a place for everything!

The kicks I'm getting are getting uncomfortable now, no more feathery movements or tickles! I thought I'd get more of a booting while I watched fireworks last night, all that loud banging, but no, I only seems to get big kicks if I'm on my back

FloweryBoots Sat 03-Nov-12 12:59:08

Kirsty Just weighed myself to see, and I've put on a stone, or just over. And I lost about 6lb in the early weekswith the sickness.

Do your best not to worry about it. I've no idea how much I put on with DS but I was back in my usual clothes within a month so it soon went again. Most of it will be increase in muscles and blood adn all the fluids and the actuall baby and all sorts of things. Plus you should put on fat in pregnancy so you have reserves for breast feeding. I'm quite petit naturalyl and seemed to have to eat litterally non stop in the first few months feeding DS - a bit of extra fat to help me wouldn't have gone a miss!

myjobismum Sat 03-Nov-12 12:25:45

Hello ladies!

Lazy morning here with my two, cuddles, baths and lego building - just having lunch now! We have a 3rd birhtday party to go to this afternoon and then fireworks display this evening so they are very excited!

zoey - boo for a big argument, yay for candyfloss though!

Ah weight gain, something which really gets to me - I try not to look into it two much but at 22weeks have gained 2lb and yet that still freaked me sad I think I am going to have to avoid the scales and try not to think about it hmm

Oodthunkit Sat 03-Nov-12 11:41:41

grin

Oodcantthinkofanewname Sat 03-Nov-12 11:39:14
