Hooray!
Hi pinpan you must be a psychic - you posted at about the time I found out I was in established labour!!
All's well, and just heading to the post-natal thread - woop woop lol
How's it going Pheebs?
Thanks goodsense
I felt better after a bit more sleep
The MW doesn't want to do anything before Tuesday (I'll be 41+2) and then another sweep Thurs followed by induction at the weekend if the sweeps don't work
DH has said he won't go until the baby's here unless its absolutely urgent, and even then it'll be on his own which is a relief - so I'm now just trying to be positive and think that she could be ok for a while yet. Fx baby comes this weekend - I sooooo don't want to end up in hospital!!
Positive thoughts... positive thoughts... positive thoughts
Ha, thumb your DH has the same attitude as mine - he fell asleep on the hospital bed with DS on his tummy - his only instructions were to look after DS while i had a shower
i couldnt wake him and stayed awake holding DS while he slept!! Ah well, he's getting into the swing of it now
Pheebs, so sorry to hear about your DH's Nan. Its really difficult to make these decisions. But perhaps it's better to not risk the home birth you want and stay put for a few days more, especially if you feel better supported by your own family? how far is it to travel, could Dh do the round trip in a long day while someone else is on call in case you need them?
How did it go at the MW this morning? In my area they do a sweep at 40wks automatically which is helpful if you really want to get things moving... hope things happen for you soon x
Message withdrawn at poster's request.
PHeebs, fingers crossed it all does get going for you very soon! And I did a bit of a
smirky face re. your DH - mine has similar attitude, including the "oh it was all such hard work, the labour, I'm shattered now" - like he did anything!!
I didn't even get to squish his hands this time (although, fair play, he did offer), just whapped him in the belly with the G&A tube when I thought I could hear him shushing me while I was wailing into it. He denied it, of course but I'm sure someone was going "shh, shh, shh" and being whapped was necessary.
I had an attempted sweep at 40+1...cervix was still closed and high but it might be worth asking her to have a look just so you know where things stand. If its favourable then you know to start bouncing on a birth ball/ long walks etc.
Don't be disheartened though, a few days after my sweep DH and I had sex in the morning (first time in months!), and by the evening I was in labour!
Honestly? Not really! Fair amount of pressure on my pelvis which is seriously aggravating the SPD, but no painful contractions or diarrhea/nausea/show/broken waters etc which is seriously aggravating DH!!!
Its so easy to be impatient when you won't actually have to go through the childbirth bit
We're debating the potential of a sweep, but I'm not sure the midwife will go for it at 40wks without some other indications.
Baby is moving around a lot during the day though, which is unusual, so I'm hoping it might mean he/she is either getting a bit prepared or is as uncomfortable as I am lol
Woooo come on pheebs <waves Pom poms>
Ooh Pheebs sending you positive labour vibes! <waves pompoms>
Are signs yet?
I'm hoping today will be 'the day', but I think I may be the only one, so will lurk on the post-natal for company and turn the lights out when I'm done
Ooh thanks for post natal thread. Are all babies accounted for on here then ? It seems to have gone quiet...
Congratulations to all the recent arrivals. I will have to wonder over to the new thread. Hope those of you still waiting get a gorgeous squidgy bundle soon.
Haven't seen an up to date list for a while...who is still pregnant and waiting for a baby?!
Congratulations to all the new arrivals. I've posted on our new postnatal thread, hope to catch up with you all on there soon.
(Thanks thunder)
I meant thunder - thanks for the thread!
Thanks for the postnatal thread thumb. My belly has the occasional period-type cramp, but it's not sore to touch. i've heard after pains can be quite painful sometimes, especially if you're BFing.
I'm really sorry have lost track of the recent new arrivals, so Congratulations to everyone!!
I have started a postnatal thread over here
What has happened re. postnatal thread? are we doing our own or joining the other one?
I want to ask if anyone else has a sore belly... (not the CS ladies, of course you do!)
Wow goodsense - that was close! Great name too
Congratulations Shellwe!

Hey everyone,
We decided on a name for our little one - Dillon George. We're smitten - and like you thumb being kept awake at night for feeds - or colicky wind pains (someone mentioned infacol - i may have to get some...)
Finally have some time to update my birth story. period-type pains started at 4am weds, went on all day and then at 6pm mild contractions began. by 10, they were pretty strong so we phoned the birth centre. they tried to put us off going in as it's my first, understandably... but by 12.30 everything was very strong, but still they tried to put us off going in... then my waters broke and finally they said come in at 1,30am.
So we walked to the birth centre (usually just over 5mins, took us 20. Thank god it was the middle of the night and no one around.) by the time i arrived i thought i might need to push soon but wasn't able to articulate that as i wasn't sure. We had to wait in the reception/hallway for more than 30 minutes,
me kneeling on the floor yowling while stretcher emergencies and other visitors were passing by... horrible to wait and to feel like I really needed to start pushing soon.
Eventually i was called in to be assessed and I felt i need to go to the loo again while waiting - and realised i didn't need the loo - i could feel the baby's head! I went into the hallway and said this and all the MWs looked at each other and suddenly all was action. They checked and I was fully dilated, wheeled in a rush to the pool room (no chance of actually using it of course, ah well) desperately trying not to push and then Dillon was born 7 minutes later.
2 pushes, 2nd degree tear. but it all happened so quickly i didn't have time to think about pain relief or anything.
Mammoth post, finally had 2 hands free to type!
Hope you are all well, recovering from the births and hope anyone still waiting patiently doesn't have much longer to wait.
Do we have a postnatal thread yet?
Wow! huge congratulations to you all loopy, beeble, elvis, thunder and shellwe - so many in just a few days
xxx
