Here's to part two
er, meant
Thanks for new thread painterly.
Just back, all ok with scan. I am so relieved!
Measuring 11+4 which is exactly what I thought.
Due 7th July.
Just to reassure others , I had very few symptoms this time. Only sore boobs and tiredness. I have been one of the lucky ones.
On late shift today so excited to tell all my colleagues.
So late in posting that I missed the last thread! here's what I just posted:
Hello all, I've been lurking for a bit.
I'm due on July 29th with my second DC which makes me 8 weeks now. I have a four year old already.
I was hoping to ask you all whether I'm being a bit of a wuss or not. For the last week or so I've been feeling extremely nauseous all the time, and vomiting between 4 - 10 times a day, which doesn't relive the nausea at all. I had the same thing last time, and it didn't really go away until I went on maternity leave. I won't see the midwife until January. As soon as I get DD to bed I go to sleep as I don't feel sick when I'm asleep! Should I (wo)man up as 'pregnancy isn't an illness' or would it be okay to phone in sick tomorrow (12.5 hour shift on my feet)? To complicate matters a colleague recently went sick as soon as she found out she was pregnant and stayed off till she went on mat leave - and you should have heard the comments about slacking etc!
Hi everyone! Just a quickie so I can get new thread on 'threads I'm on'.
Nice to hear from Carrie, glad you're feeling positive after your appointment.
Am ten weeks today, whoop! Am struggling in my work clothes, is it worth buying some maternity trews for work? Or should I just up-size for now? Don't know what to do
Hello, can I very cautiously join your thread? I've been following it for ages but too scared to tempt fate. For this reason I may not post all that often but will drop in.
I am pregnant with my first after ICSI treatment, so after taking some time to get here it is hard to believe it is all going to be alright. I am 29 and 10+2 weeks pregnant today. I had an early scan as part of the treatment at 7+2 and all was well at the time. Haven't yet got my scan date through but midwife said it should be in the week of 2nd Jan so not long to wait really. I had a bit of a wobble when my symptoms started easing off at 9+3 but I used a Doppler for the first time yesterday and was able to pick up heartbeat which put a smile on my face
I am a bit worried by all of you saying that you are showing already - I have no bump, and of anything have lost weight since beginning treatment. Is this a problem? I thought it would be quite early to be showing in the first trimester?
Cloclo15 is not unusual not to be showing now when it's your first! With my dd I didn't really start to get a bump until I was nearly 5 months, and only then in the evenings when my stomach muscles gave up the fight
.
This is my third pregnancy (although last one didn't work out) and feel like I'm showing already at 10 weeks, but again, mostly in the evenings when my stomach just can't be bothered holding it all in anymore!!! after I've pigged out on dinner
Hi all, nice shilny new thread!
Pregnancy might not be an illness meebles but it's making you sick, literally so do whatever your body needs. I have felt awful and I only work half days and aren't actually vomiting. If I had to do your hours and vomit 10 times as well I would be off sick for sure!!
I'm not showing at 11+2 but am fat. Just had bloods taken for combined test this morning and they weigh you, have put on 3 kg in 3 weeks. That'll be all the jacket potatoes and cheese then. Combined with no exercise. Arggh, new plan required for after Xmas!!! (just bought Stilton so can't start now!)
Oooh nice shiney new thread
Thank you to those who made me feel much better about 'ignoring' the new one (see previous thread!), you are so right that it is getting all it needs without me having to do anything so I should just enjoy these next 6 months with DS before our his world is rocked by the arrival of a needy newborn!
Broke out a pair of maternity jeans the other day (*sigh*), I was trying to keep out of them for as long as possible as remember being v.fed up with all my maternity wear by the end of the pregnancy last time - funny how before I just couldn't wait to start showing and get into maternity clothes and 'feel' pregnant... now with the gift of experience I wanted to stay small and in normal clothes for as long as I could! Tummy has other ideas
Someone said to me that when you're pregnant you should eat for one and exercise for two... oops!
oops just posted on previous thread when you're all here now!
Cloclo I agree with ElizabethPonsonby that it can make a difference whether it's your first or not (this is my third too, and I was still wearing my normal jeans at this point with my first two pregnancies, was in leggings at week 5 this time!) also your body shape makes a difference, some bodies seem to conceal a baby more easily than others!
Oh and mine is mostly bloat too!
My tummy's bloated too - it always feels as though I've eaten too much when I'm behaving and not pigging out . Am hoping I don't get too big a bump before my wedding in April - how do you fancy my chances (5'7, 9.6 stone)?
I went for booking in today - birth plan filled in (as far as I can at 8 weeks) - only to find that it's being split into two appointments. I was only in there 15 mins to answer some questions and get blood pressure/weight/height checked and have to wait till the 30th of December for the longer second appointment!
I went in hoping to get a better idea about my care plan but feel a bit deflated now (not in the tummy region though!) Is it normal to have two booking in appointments?
Hi - quick one from me to mark my place.
Grandmother comes home from the hospital today after over 2 months inside. Bittersweet though as the only reason they are letting her out is because they have said this will be her last Christmas
so they are sending her home to enjoy it rather than starting chemo first and her being sick as a dog on the day. So she will start chemo next week, although they are not very hopeful it will do anything.
10+2 today and have been having the griping pains that all of you other 10-weekers have been talking about. This morning I woke up and my tummy is flat as a board, definitely no baby bump yet, and I'm getting worried about it. 6 days til I have my next appointment, hopefully he will listen for the heartbeat, but I think it's just going to be a routine thing which is technically the second part of my 'booking in' - since the first ended up in the internal scan worrying about ectopic.
My cyst hasn't been giving me any more problems, glad to report. Now just worried about the little bub! My aunt thinks it's a girl based on the fact I haven't been craving sweets & junk food but rather substantial meals like pasta, chicken, sandwiches. It is a bit odd for me as I'm a chocoholic normally.
What are everyone's Christmas plans? Does anyone have lots of traveling coming up?
Hi guys. Thanks painterly for being the responsible adult and keeping us right! I type this whilst touching wood but I feel great. No sickness for 2 days and the crushing tiredness has gone even though the 3 am insomnia hasnt. It can't last can it?
GlitteryReindeer I had a first appointment as you describe. Then the proper booking appointment with bloods was at 10 weeks. If you look in your maternity notes it does say the booking appointment should be between 10 and 12 weeks I think?
Oh, by the way - have thought we could do a separate stats list thread, as I've seen others do? Prevents this thread from getting clogged with incredibly long lists every few days?
Yey, new thread!
I have a little podge, quite difficult to hide without floaty tops and big jumpers! I seem to remember a little podge with DS, but I had told everyone by that point, so I wasnt bothered about people seeing it. I suppose wearing all the baggy clothes is making me feel bigger!
I got a letter from the hospital yesterday telling me I have antibodies in my blood. I am O positive, so it can't be a rhesus thing, so it looks like I have other rare antibodies. Boo. No-one knows what they are though, and I have to go for more bloods tomorrow, as does DH. I'm a bit nervous about what it will be, although a quick google search has showed that it can lead to the baby being jaundice and anaemic, and possibly needing an interuterine transfusion
. Can also cause miscarriage, so obviously quite worried about that. It seems that it is something that is monitored throughout the pregnancy by blood tests and scans also. Hope bloods don't take ages to come back!
Sorry to see about your grandma Fishpond - hope you're ok and good luck for your second appointment.
I'm off to Boston (the one in Lincs) after Christmas to see DP's family, so a couple of hours' drive. They were so pleased when we told them about the baby - can't wait!
puzzletree thanks for your reply. I've never been given any maternity notes: did you get yours from your midwife?
Just marking my place on the new thread.
Welcome to the newbies!
I also have a bit of a bump that is mainly bloating I think (am 11 weeks tommorrow) & my DH is getting excited that it must be all baby! Haven't the heart to tell him
ah GlitteryReindeer yes I was given these at the first appointment and asked to fill in personal details for the booking appointment. sorry I thought you'd have been given yours too, presumably you'll get them at the next appointment then. basically my first appointment was just get on the system, order scan appointment, check I didn't have any major medical problems etc, then bloods, blood pressure and long chat were at the next appointment. But I think these things work differently in different areas anyway, some people get it all in one session at the hospital when they have the scan.
The midwife I saw wasn't my 'proper' midwife so hopefully I'll get my notes at my next appt
Evening all. I hope to God my midwife this time isn't the one I had at booking in.. she is the same one as I had with DD.. she induced me and said. This isn't going to work but we'll give you a couple of hours and then you'll have a c-section.
. She spent the whole of my booking appointment (1 1/2 hours, largely because of the chat) telling me how everyone jumped when she wanted something done and how she was always right. Made my blood boil!
hi all, rough day here with sickness, i now appear to have a cold onto of everything else, started with sore throat yesterday, today lots of congestion bit of a cough.
and my my temp is hovvering from 37.8-37.9
at what point are you supposed to take paracetamol for the temp?
shall i wait and phone my dr or midwife in the am?
or if it goes over 38 am i supposed to take a paracetamol?
carrie, sorry to hear you are poorly there is some advice here. I think the rest and water approach probably best; you've been through quite a lot and your immunity is probably low. Hope it passes quickly for you. For what it's worth I'm on my fourth cold and have a horrible cough that sounds like I have TB. Grimness. Had the same crap with early preganancy last time. It's the only time I take vitamins and the only time I get consistently ill. Hmm. Maybe a link?
Hi all, thanks for the lovely new thread painterly
Sorry you're feeling poorly Carrie
hope you pick up soon.
I've got my scan on Friday and I'm soooo nervous! I have to go straight into work afterwards as well, so I'm not sure how I'll manage to contain myself
I'm also feeling the guilt, as I've forgotten to take the folic acid a lot few times, and when I have taken it it won't stay down, aaargh!
Evening all. Love the new thread, Painterly. Thanks. And your last mw sounds a beast! How rude!!
Sorry, been busy at work and not able to update. Where is the Christmas goodcheer? Everyone wants everything done "before Christmas" which is very trying sometimes!
Welcome to some of the newbies who have joined us. Painterly as the most organised one amongst us, do you think you could pull the stats list from the other thread and update it? I don't think I'll manage that at the mo! I think it was fishpond who mentioned a more abbreviated list - what did you mean, honey?
A big special welcome to Cloclo. Congrats on your successful ICSI. You won't know me, but I avidly followed the "hand holding and waggling IVF" thread that gardenpixie started. I was about to start IVF myself when I actually fell pregnant - we had already met the consultant and was booked in for the chat and plan and drugs, etc. So I'd been reading your thread to prepare myself. Am so delighted you're doing so well. I think buggerlugs was another that came over, but it was so sad that she had a mc.
. Has there been anything more from gp? I know she had a tough time, then went awol. Any other success stories?
Sorry everyone else!!!
RE: bumps. I agree that the evening bloat is the worst time. Am sitting here and look positively rotund. Was never the slimmest chick, although a happy 12/14 (but short!) and my belly is normally just a bit more pronounced. I know it's not baby, as it's too high. But it is cos of baby - the uterus is taking up way more space in there, and pushing everything else up. Think intestines, etc. Everyone knows, so they're teasing me and I'm embracing it as best I can!!
fishpond - sorry to hear the sad news on your grandmother. It was considerate of the hosptial to give her this time before chemo and time with the family. I'm sure you'll all treasure it.
meebles - forget the comments, if you're sick, you're sick. Just because it is pregnancy-induced does not make it any less valid. If you need a day off, take it. They cannot penalise you for it. I was stressing that I shouldn't/couldn't take time off and it worried me even more and made me worse. I've actually only needed one day to allow myself to catch up and that seemed to reset me. It also will make them more compassionate when you do make it in! Hope you feel better tho.
Good news on scans. Still can't get over how amazing it is to see this baby in there!
Right, best push off before we have to start another new thread just cos I've maxed this one out! Off to Sainsbury's for Christmas shop. Wish me luck!!
