Bev is the worst to make an enemy of in my opinion. Bev is all smiles and nice as pie to your face, talking to you in that singy songy 'oh aren't you lovely' type voice whilst insincerely patting your arm and at the first opportunity will grass you up to your boss/best friend/partner. Then when called upon does the miss piggy 'who me???' and acts the victim to all who will listen. This one is worse than a Wendy as she will turn on the waterworks to make you look evil 👿👿👿

WooItsAGhostCat Fri 11-Jul-14 23:29:22

Have you been drinking?

sharonthewaspandthewineywall Fri 11-Jul-14 23:30:12

Sadly not

FannyFifer Fri 11-Jul-14 23:32:01

Nope, but fuck her! Hope you're ok.

Trollsworth Fri 11-Jul-14 23:33:17

Oh hell, I know a Bev

AgentZigzag Fri 11-Jul-14 23:34:07

I know the type of person you mean, are you having trouble with her at work?

Berryglitter Fri 11-Jul-14 23:35:18

Actually sounds like a bev I know.... Kim is this you posting??

AgentZigzag Fri 11-Jul-14 23:36:49

Oh, should I admit to having a couple of small bevvies?

Would it reduce or enhance my credibility in the eyes of MN?

WooItsAGhostCat Fri 11-Jul-14 23:37:40

In that case . . . . . Yes I do know a Bev. She is a total loony. I make sure I am extra specially nice to her because if that crazy cow takes issue with you, you're bloody for it!
Sure there are some lovely Bevs though!

AgentZigzag Fri 11-Jul-14 23:38:03

It's Sharon Berry.

Berryglitter Fri 11-Jul-14 23:38:06

Agent! You minx! Two bevs in one go, naughty.

FreeWee Fri 11-Jul-14 23:38:51

The Bev I know is lovely. The Rita however is your Bev!

AgentZigzag Fri 11-Jul-14 23:42:36

Hahaha Berry, I didn't link bevvy (a very small alcoholic drink) to bev in the OP grin

If I hadn't had a bevvy I'd have noticed.

Cactuar Fri 11-Jul-14 23:45:12

Tbh wendys and bevs might be bad but there is nowt so bad as a Clare or Catherine <wise nod>

hiimangelafernandez Fri 11-Jul-14 23:47:10

Never been stung by a bev, Lucy however gets me everytime!

I am staging a one-woman campaign to get all these Bevs and Wendys and Sharons turned into Bobs and Freds and Kevins. Can we stop ascribing negative human behaviours to purely female names. I don't know a Bev and I don't know a Wendy.

I do, however, know some stunning, amazing, fabulous women working hard, making other people's lives better, saving lives and generally making the world a shiny place. Their names are; Molly; Kath; Mary; one with a very recognizable name who is a MNer so I won't (you know who you are); Jenny; Tracy and whatever AF's real name is. Can we use those?

AgentZigzag Fri 11-Jul-14 23:49:46

Sorry for going on OP, is this woman like it with everyone? How long have you worked there?

OohQuack Fri 11-Jul-14 23:51:01

I know a beverage, she's switched once now I keep her at a distance and tell her nothing

OohQuack Fri 11-Jul-14 23:51:44

I also know a bev, aswell as a beverage -sodding predictive text--

I need wine

HauntedNoddyCar Fri 11-Jul-14 23:58:53

MrsTP is that a sneaky bevvy?

squoosh Sat 12-Jul-14 00:01:52

Bev Callard has a bone to pick with you OP.

You are LOVELY Haunted, just LOVELY. <sniggers>

HauntedNoddyCar Sat 12-Jul-14 00:06:17

<hides in the corner>

BillnTedsMostFeministAdventure Sat 12-Jul-14 00:06:40

Is this the Beverly that sang that "Promise Me" song that went on for 3 years?

If so, YANBU.

Why are we calling them 'Bev' and 'Wendy'? Why can't we just call a cunt a cunt?

Three snaps in a Z, Moomin.

QuintessentiallyQS Sat 12-Jul-14 00:09:16

What if Bev is German? Is that different? Only Bev I know is German, and she is nice.

HauntedNoddyCar Sat 12-Jul-14 00:11:15

Yes my Bev is lovely and this reminds me to invite her up to stay.

TSSDNCOP Sat 12-Jul-14 01:14:17

Awesome my RL name is on MrsTerry's list.

I don't know any Bevs OP, but I know women like your description. I call them *you fucking bastard" and hope their central heating breaks down on Christmas Eve.

SecretWitch Sat 12-Jul-14 01:23:00

My MIL is a Bev and she rarely stings. How are you set for Margaret's, though, Op?

alltoomuchrightnow Sat 12-Jul-14 01:29:33

that's brilliant because the most Bev person I know, is really a Bev! (her real name) vicious bitch

Maybe you are my peeps TSSDNCOP. I hope so because your NN is one of the best on here.

deakymom Sat 12-Jul-14 06:36:44

my daughter goes to school with a bev! she freaked out at my daughter because she wont tell her "what happened" in her past with her uncle dd kept saying there was nothing really there was nothing to tell and its none of her business anyway! so she flipped at her then cried her eyes out and everyone was asking HER what was wrong and comforting HER!

Batmansbuttocks Sat 12-Jul-14 06:39:42

I know a 'Bev' and it's my own mother. You're right, much worse that a 'Wendy'.

GertieFinkle Sat 12-Jul-14 06:40:53

My Bev is the first part of the description but then a vicious gossiper rather than a crier. Also staggeringly insensitive.

FanjoForTheMammaries Sat 12-Jul-14 06:42:00

The Bev I know is one of the nicest people have ever met. Very sweet.

WeirdCatLady Sat 12-Jul-14 07:59:09

I know a C-Bev and a S-Bev. Both cunts.

The only Wendy I know is lovely smile

CharlesRyder Sat 12-Jul-14 08:03:35

IME Wendy will also turn on the waterworks, in fact do anything, to make you look evil and or insane.

I don't think Bev is worse than Wendy. Bring me 10 Bevs!!

ScarlettlovesRhett Sat 12-Jul-14 08:26:51

I am the opposite Charles I think Bev is way worse than Wendy.

I can usually out manoeuvre a Wendy once I've realised what they're up to - but a Bev is difficult. It's the running to people in authority, constant victim, tearfulness (and somehow always being 'bullied'); they're tricky - you have to tread carefully round them, which just enables them more.

I hate Bevs.

CharlesRyder Sat 12-Jul-14 08:30:33

It must depend on the star rating of the ones you've met.

I can see a Bev forcing you to have unnecessary conversations where you have to justify yourself- very annoying.

A 5 star Wendy can force you into needing a new LIFE though bitter, bitter experience.

TaliZorahVasNormandy Sat 12-Jul-14 08:41:56

Never by a Bev, but I did have a run with a Vikki.

ScarlettlovesRhett Sat 12-Jul-14 09:06:10

The star rating does make a difference, I agree.

They are both knobbers.

Hope things are ok for you now though Charles, and the Wendy is banished.

ipswichwitch Sat 12-Jul-14 09:12:48

Am I the only one who thought the op did a typo and thought it was bee not bev?
I came on to post helpful bee related stuff too!

Grumpyrealist77 Sat 12-Jul-14 09:26:01

Its Christines and Colins for me Im afraid! Wendys do cry ALOT though...

frames Sat 12-Jul-14 09:26:04

Unlike busy bees Bev's and Wendy's spend too much time causing trouble rather than getting on with their work and in any spare time having a laugh. If complained about to seniors, the usual response is "they have issues outside of work put up with it"Seniors and organisations protect Bevs and Wendy's as they are the types who go to tribunals, or enjoy bev and Wendy's sycophantic behaviour. It makes dream jobs into hell, for many people:-(

Shockers Sat 12-Jul-14 11:38:28

My two Bevs are both fab.

Having an issue with Ken and Alison at the mo though. Couple of right arses they are.

sharonthewaspandthewineywall Sat 12-Jul-14 16:42:41

I'm loling at something thinking bev was a typo for bee! Agent yes- my bev bevs everyone. Cries a lot with no need. Takes offence constantly with no need.

GretchenWiener Sat 12-Jul-14 16:44:46

i never trust people with names of three letters

BIL went off with one
she was a right beatch

Timeforabiscuit Sat 12-Jul-14 16:49:42

I knew a bev once, thank god I was so naive I didn't know what she was playing at - nowadays all hell would have broken loose grin

LiberalLibertines Sat 12-Jul-14 16:54:44

Beverly knight always seemed nice hmm

AgentZigzag Sat 12-Jul-14 17:06:06

I thought it was a bee typo too grin

I know a couple of people who use crying as a manipulative tool, 'you'll regret it if you dare to say anything you know I won't like'. There's nothing wrong with someone crying because they're genuinely upset at the way they've been treated, but the times would be few and far between wouldn't they? (unless they're having a hard time generally) Not just cropping up in similar situations.

If she bevs everyone then at least you're not on your own and it doesn't look to everyone else as though it's you being awkward.

Is there anyone who actually plays along with her? Either for their own ends (trying to side step her focusing on them) or because they genuinely can't see through it?

sharonthewaspandthewineywall Sat 12-Jul-14 19:37:06

No luckily everyone is aware of this Bev

SquigglySquid Sat 12-Jul-14 19:46:27

I have no patience for people that cry to ramp up the sympathy because I feel awkward around crying people. If you're genuinely upset, go ahead. But, don't cry because you're not getting your way or getting people on your side.

I generally don't have people come up crying to me. Probably because I don't treat it as much more than a person venting and assume they'll do something about it if it bugs them so much.

I do offer some good chocolate for upset friends though. smile

loopylady83 Sat 12-Jul-14 19:52:45

Fairy13 Sat 12-Jul-14 20:11:05
