to think my colleague was thoughtless and ruined my lunch?

Yesterday the canteen at work was closed so two work colleagues volunteered to drive and pick up lunch (we work in an area where it would take 15 minutes to walk to the nearest cafe and only have half an hour lunch.)

It was decided they would go to KFC and McDonalds. I had spent an hour previously complaining that I had got food poisoning last time I went to KFC. So I ordered from McDonalds and said to my colleague, please just get me the American burger of the week.

My colleague returned back with a Louisiana burger which is a chicken burger! When I said I had been complaining about getting food poisoning from KFC that it was common sense that I wouldn't want a chicken burger.

Their excuse was - they had other peoples lunches to get, I hadn't been specific and that they hadn't really listened when I complained about my food poisoning.

I too would have bought you the chicken burger

Because I heard you specify KFC, not all chicken in the universe

If you got food poisoning from one place it doesn't mean you'd get it from the same food somewhere else

AreYouFeelingLucky Fri 09-May-14 09:54:23

That's crazy.

Getting food poisoning from KFC meant that you want KFC. Fair enough.

You needed to specify that you didn't want chicken, if that's the effect that it has had on you. Most people wouldn't make that connection.

Also, they got you exactly what you asked for. It wasn't their fault that the American burger of the week was chicken this week.

UnderIce Fri 09-May-14 09:54:43

If that was the "American Burger of the Week" they bought you exactly what you asked for so YABU.

Why don't you take your own lunch into work and avoid the issue in future.

itsmeitscathy Fri 09-May-14 09:54:48

Lol, you're joking...right?

GeraldineFangedVagine Fri 09-May-14 09:54:53

I think YABU. It's not obvious its chicken you are worried about more KFC so unless you specifically said no chicken I think they were doing a kind thing.

CoffeeTea103 Fri 09-May-14 09:54:55

Yabu, how are they supposed to guess what you meant. Don't be ridiculous, at least your colleague went and got it for you.

FanjoForTheMammaries Fri 09-May-14 09:55:25

Sorry you are BU.

QueenofallIsee Fri 09-May-14 09:55:34

You sound like a bit of a diva to be honest - if I was your colleague I wouldn't get you lunch again

Pobblewhohasnotoes Fri 09-May-14 09:55:35

Yabu, go yourself next time.

You spent an hour talking about having food poisoning?

littleducks Fri 09-May-14 09:55:39

I would have got you the Louisiana burger too

DelGirl Fri 09-May-14 09:55:52

Yabu

Let me guess, this is a reverse?

Brucietheshark Fri 09-May-14 09:56:50

If you really went on for an hour about food poisoning, are you surprised people tune you out?

Agree that not wanting KFC does not rule out all chicken in the universe. In fact, because you went to KFC I would assume you liked chicken.

This is a reverse AIBU isn't it?

whatchatalkinboutwillis Fri 09-May-14 09:57:19

Well considering they bought you exactly what you asked for YABU. How are they supposed to know that you don't what chicken? Just because you got food poisoning from KFC doesn't mean that all chicken makes you ill.

nethunsreject Fri 09-May-14 09:57:34

Crikey, no wonder they hadn't really listened to you complaining, you sound a bit precious!
Yabu

diddl Fri 09-May-14 09:58:20

YABU.

You sound hard work.

She got you what you asked for.

VeryStressedMum Fri 09-May-14 09:58:29

Dont be ridiculous hmm

gamerchick Fri 09-May-14 09:58:35

It has to be a reverse.. I'm happy that somebody packs up lunch for me grin

Beastofburden Fri 09-May-14 09:58:59

You spent an hour complaining about food poisoning?

They got you exactly what you asked them to get. There is no reason why you should get food poisioning from all forms of chicken. Actually, there's no reason why KFC should give you food poisoning next time. you were just unlucky.

Why are you eating that crap to start with?

emsyj Fri 09-May-14 09:59:42

YABU, I would assume that your objection to KFC was to the cleanliness or otherwise of the premises and food preparation standards - not the fact that it was chicken! It would not have occurred to me for a second that you didn't want any chicken.

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 10:00:07

No, another colleague agreed with me that it's common sense that if I was no longer could eat KFC because of food poisoning then you wouldn't go out and buy KFC.

Also they only got the Louisiana burger because it was showing on a board when they ordered. Pretty much all of the American burgers are beef. Chicken is just an alternative.

diddl Fri 09-May-14 10:00:18

"My colleague returned back with a Louisiana burger which is a chicken burger! When I said I had been complaining about getting food poisoning from KFC that it was common sense that I wouldn't want a chicken burger."

That doesn't follow to me tbh.

Why didn't you just ask for a burger?

I wouldn't worry about it too much, I doubt anybody will be offering to go and get your lunch again.

Anyway, how do you know KFC gave you food poisoning?

RiverTam Fri 09-May-14 10:01:28

it wouldn't occur to me that you meant you didn't want chicken, just that you didn't want a KFC.

Billygoats Fri 09-May-14 10:01:36

YABU because I had the Louisiana burger yesterday and it was blooming delicious! grin

nethunsreject Fri 09-May-14 10:01:46

Jeez, you do sound rather hard work. Really, this is actually bothering you?!

Pobblewhohasnotoes Fri 09-May-14 10:01:48

But they did get you an American burger, like you asked for!

If you're buying for a group there isn't time to faff around. Go yourself next time.

MyFirstName Fri 09-May-14 10:02:24

Is this a reverse?

HiImBarryScott Fri 09-May-14 10:02:40

So your colleagues listened to you moaning for an hour, offered to drive to get your lunch (maybe to get away from your moaning!?) and bought you exactly what you asked for.

This can only be reverse.

UnderIce Fri 09-May-14 10:02:44

The other colleague who "agreed" with you probably just nodded because you'd beat them into submission with your incessant hour long moaning about KFC.

Go away OP.

ENormaSnob Fri 09-May-14 10:03:57

This has to be a reverse.

They got what you ordered.

I think if I was the nice colleague getting your food for you, after that response I'd offered to go back and get you desired beef burger and mopped up in the loo floor in the gents with the bread bred ore giving it to you.

What an ungrateful attitude you have.

gotnotimeforthat Fri 09-May-14 10:05:47

The louisianna burger is part of the american burger of the week. they got you exactly what you wanted.

getting food poisoining from one restaurant will not mean that all chicken will now make you ill. you had food poisioning not aqn allergic reaction.

YABU

who complains for an hour about food poisioning hmm

CheeryName Fri 09-May-14 10:06:03

Another who thinks this is screaming REVERSE. The chicken-burger-buyer was NBU.

BobPatandIgglePiggle Fri 09-May-14 10:06:18

You sound like a princess

You were ill one time from food from 1 place. That does not mean you can never eat chicken again.

Awaits a thread in 2 years from you moaning after being served chicken at a dinner party

NeedsAsockamnesty Fri 09-May-14 10:06:34

Yabu.

I wouldn't have got you anything if you had made me listen to an hours worth of complaints

Tobagostreet Fri 09-May-14 10:06:51

YABU. If the canteen is closed today, go get your own lunch.

And whilst you're at it, try not to waste an hour of work time moaning about a previous bout of food poisoning. Try to focus on doing some actual work instead.

Forgettable Fri 09-May-14 10:07:03

Never speak to your colleagues again

Hah

That will teach 'em

MrsBungle Fri 09-May-14 10:07:14

skittycat Fri 09-May-14 10:10:17

YABU and also ungrateful.

If I had listened to you going on about food poisoning from KFC I would have just not bought you anything from KFC, it wouldn't occur to me to think you'd sworn off chicken for eternity unless you specifically stated that you didn't want chicken from ANYWHERE ever again.

OfficerVanHalen Fri 09-May-14 10:10:53

How many people were they getting lunch for?

Pobblewhohasnotoes Fri 09-May-14 10:11:10

You don't need to avoid chicken for the rest of your life over one episode of food poisoning.

So your colleague listened to you complain for an hour about KFC. ..so she then weny and got your lunch so you didnt have to walk 15mins...she got you EXACTLY WHAT YOU ASKED FOR from a different fast food establishment then listened to your whinging again?

What. A. Bitch

hmm

TheOriginalSteamingNit Fri 09-May-14 10:12:17

You spent an hour complaining about your food poisoning? How very boring of you.

You are, of course, being unreasonable on a ridiculous scale.

livelifememories

"No, another colleague agreed with me that it's common sense that if I was no longer could eat KFC because of food poisoning then you wouldn't go out and buy KFC."

1) you CAN eat kfc, its your choice not to. one bout of food poisioning doesn't mean you will get it every time you eat there.

2) " you wouldn't go out and buy KFC " they didnt buy KFC! you had mcdonalds!

therefore your reply was kind of moot.

Clarabum Fri 09-May-14 10:12:46

IK8 HAAAAAA!!!

That's what you get for going there. Food poisoning and a ruined lunch.
Seriously? Is this a joke? That ruined your lunch?

Mrsjayy Fri 09-May-14 10:13:09

tbh you are winging about chicken for Mcdonalds you asked for the burger of the week you got the burger of the week if i was the person who got your lunch i would be pissed off

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks Fri 09-May-14 10:13:28

If you were not wanting chicken at all you could have said get me a beef burger, instead you asked for the American burger of the week and that is what you got.
I won't eat a KFC as I felt unwell after the last one I ate. However I have had a chicken burger at a Brewers Fayre and it was delicious!

Mrsjayy Fri 09-May-14 10:16:07

I have visions of the poster being all woe is me and stomping about moaning they were STAARRRVING like a 5 year old come on op they didnt do anything wrong

This is why I am glad to be self employed.

You are being unreasonable, ungrateful and really whiny. They did you a favour, got exactly what you asked for and you should have said "thank you" and nothing else.

OddFodd Fri 09-May-14 10:17:03

They went to McDonalds and bought you what you'd asked for? What complete and utter cunts! angry

OurMiracle1106 Fri 09-May-14 10:17:29

Yabu. Sorry but you are. They got you what you asked for (and probably assumed you knew which burger it was this week) and then you were ungrateful.

They didn't have to get anyone elses lunch at all.

This is riduculous. You are being sooooooooooooo unreasonable. They did what you asked, and were doing you a favour.

snowgirl1 Fri 09-May-14 10:23:35

YABU. If someone's doing you a favour, then you're unreasonable to be so pernickty. Like someone else commented, I would assume your issue with KFC had been cleanliness - I wouldn't have assumed that you wouldn't want to eat chicken ever again.

Did you know the canteen was going to be closed? Why didn't you bring sandwiches?

Topaz25 Fri 09-May-14 10:24:44

I do understand that the food poisoning might have put you off chicken but you should have told your colleague that and asked them to get you a hamburger or something, not told them to get you the American burger of the day, which might be a chicken burger. They did you a favour and got you exactly what you asked for. Did you really go on for an hour about having food poisoning? An hour?! Wasn't that embarrassing for you and annoying for everyone around you? How does that conversation even take an hour? I would only discuss food poisoning with my colleagues if I had to miss work and then I would tell them I was ill but I feel better now and warn then to avoid the restaurant if I knew where I got it from. That's a two minute conversation.

lylasmam2012 Fri 09-May-14 10:24:50

YABU and if I were your work colleague I'd never do you a favour again!

Floggingmolly Fri 09-May-14 10:25:00

Have you considered the fact that you may have contributed to other people's ruined lunches; bollocking on about food poisoning for an hour before lunch time??
Uncouth and vulgar.

qazxc Fri 09-May-14 10:25:22

YABU.
You never said you didn't want a chicken burger, you just said that you didn't want KFC. They were doing you a favour, you weren't really specific so i would just let it be TBH. If the canteen is going to remain closed for a while maybe you should pack a lunch or volunteer to do the lunch run yourself.

LuisSuarezTeeth Fri 09-May-14 10:26:16

MsVestibule Fri 09-May-14 10:31:48

This is right up there with all of the other Incredibly Unreasonable AIBUs of 2014. You might even win an award for it. If you'd been boring me for an hour with details of your food poisoning, I'd have got you a KFC deliberately and said "Oh sorry, it was a KFC that gave you food poisoning? I thought you said it was a McDonalds."

I call reverse, too.

TheOriginalSteamingNit Fri 09-May-14 10:32:11

You didn't have food poisioning from KFC.

If it did happen then there would be a lot of people effected by it so KFC would have been closed by environmental Heath.

The symptoms are D&V which is a bug that could have been picked up anywhere.

I'd have got to the front of the queue and said "American Burger of the Week." I wouldn't have looked at the menu, I wouldn't have looked at the burger when I received it. You said American Burger of the Week. YABU.

If you had said "American Burger of the Week, but if it happens to be chicken, then something else", I'd have checked for you. Otherwise I wouldn't have thought twice about what it actually was.

Not necessarily.

The worst food poisoning I've ever had was from KFC. I know it was there because we shared to meal with another couple and it was the only thing we ate together. All four of us had terrible D&V a couple of days later. I was ill for two weeks and lost loads of weight. Nobody else we know had any symptoms.

Our GPs were involved and reported it but the shop was not closed.

YABVU, rude, entitled and ungrateful.

The worst food poisoning I've ever had was from McDonalds. Myself and a friend ate different meals there and both came down with horrific food poisoning. We reported it to Environmental Health who later got back to us to say that they did a spot check because there had been other recent complaints, and whilst they didn't close it immediately, they did issue a notice to improve.

Kitsmummy Fri 09-May-14 12:11:42

I bet it was halal too! The cheek of your colleagues going out and getting you lunch!

RahRahRasputin Fri 09-May-14 12:16:06

YABU confused if you were that fussed about the specifics of your meal, why did you leave it to chance and choose the burger of the week?! Why not just ask for a beef burger if that's what you wanted?

They may not have known what a Louisiana burger was, perhaps just asked for American burger of the week, also if they just had a list of orders they probably just read that out, may not even have known who ordered what.

If you had tried to talk to me about your food poisoning I would have been sympathetic but if you had mentioned the word diarrhoea or made any reference to your bowel movements then I'm afraid I would have switched off. I do not understand why anyone would discuss their bowel movements with someone else, unless for medical reasons, especially in the workplace. I'm not saying you did this but if you did, it may be that they were cringing and waiting for you to stop rather than thinking about whether you would want a chicken burger for lunch.

So when on holiday DH went out to get pizzas - I asked for anything except ham and pineapple, because fruit on savoury is a vile and disgusting thing - guess what he came back with! He heard me say yaddayaddyadda - pineapple, I guess.

Or when our friends visit, one of their DDs have a severe nut allergy. For some bizarre reason I always seem to pick up a pack of cashew nuts when I'm shopping for the dinner - it's as if the word nuts has stuck in my head.

Anyway YABU. I remember doing the McDos run hundreds of years ago in our office - no one was ever grateful and it always ended in tears.

Betrayedbutsurvived Fri 09-May-14 12:28:19

OP, Can I suggest you pop over to classics and read the "cutted up pear" thread. I can see more than a few similarities here.

FreudiansSlipper Fri 09-May-14 12:31:17

An hour complaining grin

what a drama over nothing they got what you asked for

TheReluctantCountess Fri 09-May-14 12:31:25

You spent an hour moaning that you had got food poisoning from KFC whilst people were discussing going there? I'd have got you a KFC.

IDugUpADiamond Fri 09-May-14 12:32:27

So who ate the chicken burger in the end? Did you get fries with it? Did you eat the fries but not the burger?

If you definitely didn't want a chicken burger you should've ordered something that was definitely not going to be chicken! Not something that changes!

I read your post 3 times before I even figured out the tenuous link between the McD chicken burger and KFC.

I don't bother offering to get people lunch any more, I can't be arsed with the whole "oh you got me the chicken salad sandwich but I wanted the chicken ceasar sandwich because I don't like the tomatoes, and I wanted a normal Kitkat, not a Kitkat chunky" palaver.

FunLovinBunster Fri 09-May-14 12:34:46

I might have got you a KFC too. Just to stop you from boring me to tears about your food poisoning.

CuttingOutTheCrap Fri 09-May-14 12:37:44

I'd have bought you exactly what you specifically asked for the American burger- which is exactly what your colleague did. You could have specifically said 'no chicken'. You didn't!

BolshierAyraStark Fri 09-May-14 12:39:49

Never mind, no danger of it happening again eh OP as I doubt anyone will feel inclined to fetch you lunch in future... hmm

AvonCallingBarksdale Fri 09-May-14 12:40:12

I've never had a KFC smile OP, you sound absolutely crackerjack. YABU

LiberalLibertine Fri 09-May-14 12:42:08

Ah, there you are op.

Fancy answering if you ate the flipping burger? <stamps on craving for Louisiana burger>

OnlyLovers Fri 09-May-14 12:43:27

No, another colleague agreed with me that it's common sense that if I was no longer could eat KFC because of food poisoning then you wouldn't go out and buy KFC.

Um.

The colleague DIDN'T buy you KFC. They bought you McDonalds. If you didn't want chicken you should have said 'Any burger but not chicken.' It's not rocket science.

And I wouldn't have really listened either if someone had spent an hour talking about food poisoning. I'd have lost the will to live.

But hey, you've been so ungrateful that no one will be stupid enough to offer to pick up your lunch from now on, so it's a win–win really.

Edendance Fri 09-May-14 12:45:21

I'd have got you the burger and would have thought it very rude if you'd have complained about it tbh.

You are being unreasonable.

IDugUpADiamond Fri 09-May-14 12:46:15

*BUT WHO ATE THE BURGER IN THE END????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*angryangryangryangryangry

TheSultanofPing Fri 09-May-14 12:47:02

So did you eat it? If you did, have you got food poisoning?

You should have asked for a Big Mac.

FunLovinBunster Fri 09-May-14 12:48:38

Hey everyone, shall we do a McDo run for lunch.
Who's in, and whaddya want?

FunLovinBunster Fri 09-May-14 12:49:30

YY WHO ATE THE FUCKING BURGER WE NEED TO KNOW

So, Livelifememories - you haven't flounced, but neither have you actually answered the excellent points so many people have made on this thread.

If you didn't want any chicken from anywhere, you should have said so, instead of expecting your colleague to read your mind, at the same time as they were ensuring they got everyone else's order.

You sound really rude and ungrateful, and if I were your colleague, I would. It be getting your lunch for you again, any time soon.

You owe them a big apology, and you need to grow up.

LiberalLibertine Fri 09-May-14 12:52:56

I'll have that American burger of the day please fun grin

You do remember when I told you I was low carbing though right? So no bun, or salad, it gives me the shits, oh, hold the sauce, it makes my tongue itch. Thanks!!

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 12:53:58

No, another colleague agreed with me that it's common sense that if I was no longer could eat KFC because of food poisoning then you wouldn't go out and buy KFC.

Whoops. My mistake. I actually meant -

it's common sense that if I was no longer could eat KFC because of food poisoning then you wouldn't go out and buy chicken

GeraldineFangedVagine Fri 09-May-14 12:55:01

what are your views on Hen Cottage and Tennesee Chicken and Ribs?

LiberalLibertine Fri 09-May-14 12:55:17

Did....you....eat...the....burger??

TheDoctrineOfSnatch Fri 09-May-14 12:55:56

"Oh pants, I should have said, if the burger of the week is chicken, I'm not keen on chicken burgers. Anyone fancy a swap?"

Fixed that for you too.

TiggyD Fri 09-May-14 12:56:35

YABU

OnlyLovers Fri 09-May-14 12:57:03

it's common sense that if I was no longer could eat KFC because of food poisoning then you wouldn't go out and buy chicken

No, it's common sense that you wouldn't go out and buy KFC. Which they didn't.

5Foot5 Fri 09-May-14 13:00:03

I think your other colleague agreed with you just to calm you down and keep the peace. If he/she had already listened to your one hour account of food poisining from KFC then he/she would presumably do or say anything to placate you and avoid another rant!

Needless to say YABVVU

Will you never eat chicken again ever, ever in any form? How rational is that?

KatieKaye Fri 09-May-14 13:00:26

You sound like really hard work. After 1 hour boring everyone with your food poisoning, how long did you moan on about lunch for!
McDonalds is not KFC so YABU. Perhaps you need to think more carefully before you speak and not expect people yo be mind readers. They had probably switched off during your epic tale of food poisoning anyway or weren't that interested. You aren't the centre of the whole universe.

BravePotato Fri 09-May-14 13:01:13

yabu and boring

Everythingwillbeok Fri 09-May-14 13:02:04

Extra sachets of salt

Full fat coke

Should I get my own?

adsy Fri 09-May-14 13:06:20

So chicken in all forms is off your menu forever. No matter where it's from?
What an odd person you are

Summerbreezing Fri 09-May-14 13:13:14

I would have thrown the burger at you and told you to get your own next time. You sound really pettish and annoying.

RabbitFromAHat Fri 09-May-14 13:18:44

No, it's common sense that you wouldn't go out and buy KFC. Which they didn't.

Precisely this, I'm afraid! YABU.

diddl Fri 09-May-14 13:19:24

"it's common sense that if I was no longer could eat KFC because of food poisoning then you wouldn't go out and buy chicken"

No, it's common sense not to buy KFC!
You should have told them to get a burger or specified no chicken.

Do you think that top of their thoughts was whether or not you would be wanting chicken from somewhere other than KFC when they were trying to help colleagues by getting lunch?

WandaDoff Fri 09-May-14 13:20:53

So did you eat the chicken burger or not?

Because if its going spare I'll have it, all this talk of KFC & McDs is killing me.

diddl Fri 09-May-14 13:21:13

And surely the food poisoning means that you don't want to eat KFC atm/ever, not that you can't ever eat chicken again?

Bunbaker Fri 09-May-14 13:25:41

it's common sense that if I was no longer could eat KFC because of food poisoning then you wouldn't go out and buy chicken

No it isn't. People aren't telepathic you know. It wouldn't have occurred to me not to buy any chicken at all. I just wouldn't have bought from KFC.

If you want/don't want something in particular you should be more specific.

Oh god - this is going to be one of THOSE AIBUs - where the OP is clearly being exceedingly unreasonable but ignores everyone's explanations of why she is being unreasonable - and maintains, to the death, that she IS being reasonable.

firesidechat Fri 09-May-14 13:31:08

Oh god - this is going to be one of THOSE AIBUs - where the OP is clearly being exceedingly unreasonable but ignores everyone's explanations of why she is being unreasonable - and maintains, to the death, that she IS being reasonable.

They haven't maintained much at all yet, which sort of spoils all the fun.

Atbeckandcall Fri 09-May-14 13:31:34

OP, you are the only that can't see it!!!

If someone told me they went to KFC and they thought that they had contracted a v&d bug from eating at their establishment, I would think them completely rational and normal to not fancy anything to eat from there.

I would automatically assume that chicken was off the menu from everywhere else.

AND, you asked for something that is changeable weekly from the Golden Arches, the word "burger" doesn't necessarily mean just beef. You can get veggie ones, bean burgers, fish burgers, mushroom burgers, lamb burgers and CHICKEN burger.

Now, any more stroppy tantrum throwing from you and you'll have your backside suitably placed on the naughty step.

Acknowledge you're in the wrong and this thread can (but probably won't stop) wink

Lemongrab Fri 09-May-14 13:33:21

Are you for real?

You're right, firesidechat - I can just feel her believing she's utterly reasonable from here!!

Nennypops Fri 09-May-14 13:45:17

If only I'd known that I was entitled to throw a massive strop every time friends or colleagues suggested having pizza after that time I got food poisoning at an Italian restaurant 10 years ago. I'm missed out on lots and lots of lovely drama-queening. On the other hand, I've eaten quite a lot of perfectly health pizzas.

Nennypops Fri 09-May-14 13:45:50

healthy, not health

rinabean Fri 09-May-14 13:45:57

It's not even reasonable to avoid kfc forever and ever tbh (there are so many, surely you ate there many times before without getting ill too). However if they'd got you kfc when you asked to not have it they would have been wrong. If you can't eat chicken any more, say that. Such a weird aibu. Not having chicken makes as much sense as not having any burgers ever. Except you did want a burger.

"it's common sense that if I was no longer could eat KFC because of food poisoning then you wouldn't go out and buy chicken"

No, it isn't. It's not even vaguely in the same universe as common sense.

Bunbaker Fri 09-May-14 13:47:21

Not everyone thinks as laterally as you do OP.

Goldmandra Fri 09-May-14 13:52:34

it's common sense that if I was no longer could eat KFC because of food poisoning then you wouldn't go out and buy chicken

Not at all.

When I'd had food poisoning from KFC I continued to eat chicken in all forms. I just couldn't eat KFC again. It's not that I think I'm more likely to get food poisoning from there than any other fast food outlet. I just couldn't enjoy the experience for thinking about the last time I had it.

Logic would say that you don't want to eat food from somewhere that has made you ill in the past. It wouldn't say you could never eat that specific type of food again from anywhere.

SistersOfPercy Fri 09-May-14 13:56:38

I know where I'm off to tonight, along with a nice portion of Criss Cuts with sour cream dip.

I, too, have had food poisoning from KFC. I would eat a chicken burger from MacDonald's though.

Why didn't you just ask for a cheeseburger?

catsmother Fri 09-May-14 14:32:53

You're being ridiculous.

I can understand the reluctance to go back to KFC ..... but from recounting that tale your colleague was somehow supposed to assume that from now on you don't want any form of chicken, no matter where it comes from ? ... which is effectively what you're saying because you've got all upset over this McD's Louisiana burger ?

Don't you see that a normal person who was over the top who'd been turned off ALL chicken would have asked for a burger, but "not a chicken burger" or some such.

Your colleague wasn't "thoughtless" at all.

ilovesooty Fri 09-May-14 14:37:26

I can't begin to imagine how unpopular you must be at work.

What an utterly ridiculous thread.

pianodoodle Fri 09-May-14 14:41:59

What kind of financial adviser goes out to buy a emperor burger and comes back with a cheese burger?!

motherinferior Fri 09-May-14 14:43:14

This is actually quite a reassuring thread as it demonstrates that most people on MN are in fact quite reasonable.

iK8 Fri 09-May-14 14:47:39

I bet 50p the op ate the burger but whinged about it for two hours without drawing breath.

Fullpleatherjacket Fri 09-May-14 14:47:48

Someone will be along soon to tell all the previous posters off for not being more sympathetic.

Come on ladies, let's play nice eh? smile OP, I'm so sorry the other posters have been so mean. It's threads like this that give MN such a bad reputation.

Alisvolatpropiis Fri 09-May-14 15:06:55

Yabu, totally.

Also it isn't "common sense" to think you have sworn off all chicken, for life because of a dodgy KFC experience.

MamaMumra Fri 09-May-14 15:09:34

I would apologise to the colleagues who went to get lunch for being so difficult, then thank them graciously for getting what you asked for.
And apologise for talking in such detail about food poisoning.
Maybe it was annoying to you, but you were BU in saying anything to them apart from 'thanks'

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed Fri 09-May-14 15:13:10

Frankly, if someone had spent an hour talking to me about food poisoning I'd have bought them the wrong burger on purpose.

Bugger burgers.

YABU but entertaining with your dramatics and total lack of logic, so thank you.

picnicbasketcase Fri 09-May-14 15:25:50

You should have specified which state or US city beef product you required, so then you wouldn't have got Louisiana flavoured chicken. I think at the moment it's a Nevada beef burger.

Yabu.

Any news on who ate the burger?

littlewhitebag Fri 09-May-14 15:31:47

This thread is hilarious and now i want a chicken legend with salsa from McD with fries and a diet coke.

translation: OP realises she has been a twat and is very embarrassed about it

Any takers?

Maryz Fri 09-May-14 15:32:43

And I want a KFC [grumpy]

Pobblewhohasnotoes Fri 09-May-14 15:33:43

I want the OP to come back!

Stinkle Fri 09-May-14 15:34:06

I think if you're going to be fussy, you need to be exact about what you want when your colleague is doing you a favour. Especially if they're ordering loads of stuff for other people as well

DH drives me nuts with this. If I'm going to the chip shop he won't tell me exactly what he wants, then moans because I don't come back with exactly what he wants

If you didn't want chicken, you should have said. Moaning that KFC gave you food poisoning (and I wouldn't have listened to that for an hour either) means to me that you don't want KFC.

Holy crap kato that looks amaze balls!

Changebagsandgladrags Fri 09-May-14 15:34:35

I think it's only just changed to Nevada though. Earlier in the week it was Louisiana (although a beef one). Maybe the staff and your colleague got the wrong end of the stick and thought that was the American burger of the week.

I mean, it's a burger and Louisiana is in America.

But then again, maybe they did it on purpose and were sniggering at you from behind the photocopier.

Drumsticks99 Fri 09-May-14 15:47:28

Is it possible that you bored them do much with the food poisoning story (KFC blah blah blah, chicken blah blah blah, vomiting blah blah blah, we. Never eat chicken again blah blah blah) that they delibratly got you a chicken burgar to try to annoy you??

To be fair on them you didn't say no chicken so they were doing what they were told..............

But honestly YABU

rinabean - It's not even reasonable to avoid kfc forever and ever tbh

Of course it is. I haven't been inside one in about 30 years!!

confused

I'm getting accused of an awful lot.

Flouncing - because I didn't respond quick enough.

Reporting this thread to MNHQ - because I didn't respond quick enough.

And for the record I'm not embarrassed in the slightest grin

picnicbasketcase Fri 09-May-14 15:52:08

I think it's a different beef one each week but the chicken one is on sale through the whole promotion. So what she got was the 'American chicken burger of the month' if you want to be really finicky. But the OP is still BU.

YABU

Did you not know the canteen was closed? Could you not have taken a sandwich if you are so picky?

Yabu because of the way you behaved - your gripe was with KFC not chicken or did you make it crystal clear that you never eat chicken any more. Mostly for going to KFC and McD's in the first place.

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 15:53:05

I'm not really sure what people want me to add?

I asked AIBU? And was told I Am Being Unreasonable. Therefore I got my answer.

Isn't that the point of this section of the forum?

Maryz Fri 09-May-14 15:54:21

Good on you coming back, live. Usually unanimous YABU threads disappear.

I see you aren't embarrassed. Would it be rude to ask if you realise you have been a bit of a twat (said in the nicest way grin).

KatoPotato Fri 09-May-14 15:54:22

How did you react to your lunch delivery? Did you pretend to not be bothered and thank them all the same?

Or was there Louisiana burger flying through the air and stamping feet?

Maryz Fri 09-May-14 15:55:15

x-posted.

" asked AIBU? And was told I Am Being Unreasonable. Therefore I got my answer.

The board is rarely used for it's true purpose sad

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 15:55:17

^

And that's not me flouncing before I get accused of that again.

After over 200 YABU's I have pretty much for my answer.

So again I'm not quite sure what I'm suppose to add at this point?

picnicbasketcase Fri 09-May-14 15:55:56

Did you eat the burger though?

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 15:57:07

The board is rarely used for it's true purpose

Very true.

But in this instance I think I have used it correctly.

There's no point me saying oh ok guys I was being unreasonable - because I doubt anyone would believe me and not thinking I was saying it to end the thread.

I genuinely don't mind if this threads carries on, but for me I have my answer so therefore I got what I needed.

Maryz Fri 09-May-14 15:57:10

Of course, now you have realised YABU it's the cue for eleventy million feckers who haven't RTFT to pile on and tell you, in an increasingly hysterical manner, how U you have been.

Groovee Fri 09-May-14 16:00:14

You still haven't answered how you responded to your colleagues with regards to the chicken burger, and if you actually ate it!

CrystalSkulls Fri 09-May-14 16:04:09

this is why when people are taking orders for lunch they should write it down.

I think you caused the confusion though. "I'd like a macdonalds burger please, anything but chicken!" would have sufficed.

Missushb Fri 09-May-14 16:06:46

What's a reverse Aibu?

BelleateSebastian Fri 09-May-14 16:06:51

I think they should have bought you a glue burger, inconsiderate bastards!

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 16:07:10

Haha Maryz I feel like I have provided a good amount of entertainment for some users this Friday morning wink

Groovee it's not relevant to the OP. I asked if my colleague was unreasonable to get me a chicken burger. I didn't ask if my reaction was unreasonable - therefore I don't have to answer your demands.

I do apologise if this throws a spanner in the works for more drama to be added. As the original OP after10 pages is now getting slightly boring.

The only food poisoning I have ever had was from unwashed lettuce. Ended up in hospital. So by that token I should avoid all food establishments as I'm sure there's a lettuce lurking in each one somewhere.

Sleepyhoglet Fri 09-May-14 17:04:01

So you won't be eating chicken ever again then? Yabu

New to the thread.
Nothing new to add. YABVU! What everyone else said ^^
Also, wouldn't it be brilliant if all her colleagues were off on Monday because of beef induced food poisoning shock

OnlyLovers Fri 09-May-14 17:05:14

HOW DID YOU RESPOND AND WHO ATE THE BURGER?

This 'need to know' thing is addictive.

Has anyone had one of these here Louisiana burgers? What are they like? I can't be arsed cooking tonight.

IDugUpADiamond Fri 09-May-14 17:06:55

Do KFC deliver?

LiberalLibertine Fri 09-May-14 17:08:51

They don't do liver no. Chicken.

kungfupannda Fri 09-May-14 17:09:36

How could you possibly spend an hour moaning about food poisoning? And then spend more time moaning about the burger?

Was any work actually done?

GatoradeMeBitch Fri 09-May-14 17:14:39

KFC gave me the squits last time I had it. I won't touch it now. I would go for that MacDonalds chicken burger though.

FairyWand Fri 09-May-14 17:16:43

You are a bit of a fruitloop OP.

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 17:27:57

Also, wouldn't it be brilliant if all her colleagues were off on Monday because of beef induced food poisoning

Erm .... not really no. I wouldn't find anyone having food poisoning as brilliant.

I've had a good friend of mine end up in hospital from a severe case of it.

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 17:29:48

You are a bit of a fruitloop OP.

What a disgusting term, and not one I would ever use.

nannynoss Fri 09-May-14 17:31:05

I have no justified reason why, but I REALLY want to know if the burger was eaten or not! Arrghhh

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 17:31:53

So you won't be eating chicken ever again then? Yabu

No, projectile chicken vomit has for now unfortunately put me off.

Who know, one magical day I might be able to stomach a Nandos grin

HaroldLloyd Fri 09-May-14 17:35:22

I love nandos.

I got ill after a coronation chicken filled sudulika it's still hard to think about. <boak>

LiberalLibertine Fri 09-May-14 17:36:43

So, do you at least agree YWBU??

sharonthewaspandthewineywall Fri 09-May-14 17:39:43

But you ARE OP.
I'm shocked tbh this isn't a reverse. The level of bad manners and entitledness has astounded me

OnlyLovers Fri 09-May-14 17:39:46

fruitloop disgusting? hmm

TiggyD Fri 09-May-14 17:42:57

Aren't Fruitloops psychedelic Cheerios?

VinoTime Fri 09-May-14 17:44:02

I don't like nandos. Never have understood all the fuss around it.

And yes OP, you're being completely unreasonable. But I'd wager you now know that given the countless other posters who have already told you so wink

LiberalLibertine Fri 09-May-14 17:45:11

Very stroppy fruit loop

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 17:48:28

I just don't like the term fruitloop, I think it's a dismissive term to use.

It's a term you wouldn't be using if someone you loved had a mental illness.

marcopront Fri 09-May-14 17:49:52

Do KFC only do chicken?

This is not as silly a question as it might sound. In India they do vegetarian food and there is even an only vegetarian branch of KFC.

timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/ahmedabad/US-food-giants-turn-vegetarian-in-Gujarat/articleshow/18823980.cms

AtYourCervix Fri 09-May-14 17:50:11

My nearest KFC or Muckdonalds is 12 miles away.

Nearest Nandos is 25

sad

Nennypops Fri 09-May-14 17:51:18

Pleeeeeeaase tell us who ate the burger.

Also whether you told your colleagues that they'd ruined your lunch and how you reacted.

FairyWand Fri 09-May-14 17:52:18

Actually two people I love dearly do have mental illnesses. It's not a derogatory term towards anyone with MHIs confused

Nennypops Fri 09-May-14 17:53:11

Sorry, meant to ask how your colleagues reacted, not how you reacted.

DorisAllTheDay Fri 09-May-14 17:55:23

AtYourCervix, have your colleagues not offered to go out on the KFC/MaccyD's run? Poor you, that's dreadful of them. They ABVU and they don't deserve you as a colleague.

sharonthewaspandthewineywall Fri 09-May-14 17:55:30

I have mental illness myself. Please don't think you speak on my behalf of what is acceptable or not

Locketjuice Fri 09-May-14 17:56:57

biscuit

QuintessentiallyQS Fri 09-May-14 17:57:05

"And for the record I'm not embarrassed in the slightest "

Well, you should be!

grin

Spispens Fri 09-May-14 17:57:17
FairyWand Fri 09-May-14 17:58:24

I'm not speaking on your behalf. Many people take offence to things many others wouldn't. It wasn't used as derogatory towards MHIs by myself therefore I am saying it's not when it comes from me.

douchbag Fri 09-May-14 17:58:36

Ybu end of stop being precious....

hotfuzzra Fri 09-May-14 18:01:30

I have never, ever, read through twelve pages of such a wonky thread as this.
The reason I did? To see if you ate the frickin burger livelife
Pleeeaaassseee??
If I caution you will you tell me?! PM me, it'll be data protection so I can't tell anyone....! ;-)
Please. My stomach is in knots to find out if yours is too.
I'm literally on the edge of my seat.

kali110 Fri 09-May-14 18:02:29

I have a mental illness and take no offence to the term fruitloop, think its funny.

sharonthewaspandthewineywall Fri 09-May-14 18:02:32

I didn't mean you fairy I meant the OP

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 18:03:53

So what if I was a "fruitloop" and therefore loopy/crazy? Is it ok to use that as a term to insult someone?

Like I said it's not a term I would use, and I'm allowed to voice my opinion that I feel it's dismissive.

KatieKaye Fri 09-May-14 18:06:04

"I just don't like the term fruitloop, I think it's a dismissive term to use.
It's a term you wouldn't be using if someone you loved had a mental illness."

really, OP? Once again, I'm afraid YABU and also more than a little presumptuous. Many people (note: not all people) use the term in the same way as "batty" - in other words, mildly eccentric.

It's probably best not to tell other people off for their use of language after your epic fail on the language re BurgerGate, where you were as clear as mud re your dietary choices.

BTW- did you really go on about your food poisoning for an hour? If so, why?

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 18:06:33

And for the record I'm not embarrassed in the slightest

Well, you should be!

Why? Because you said I should?

I never feel embarrassed, it makes life a hell of a lot easier.

Cornettoninja Fri 09-May-14 18:07:53

It's so hard working with people whose psychic abilities aren't up to scratch sad

<suspects op ate the burger while moaning about it>

LiberalLibertine Fri 09-May-14 18:08:00

Using my superior Colombo esque detective skills......she can't have eaten the burger, one of her responses was when asked if she was never ever going to eat chicken again, op said..... No, chicken flavoured projectile vom has put me off.......THEREFORE!! Op must have thrown the offending burger at the incompetent arse of a colleague.

It's the only explanation.

sharonthewaspandthewineywall Fri 09-May-14 18:09:58

Then she is a very silly sausage

FairyWand Fri 09-May-14 18:10:41

Ah ok Sharon I was beginning to wonder if it was something people deemed as derogatory because to me it's not meant that way at all

Cornettoninja Fri 09-May-14 18:11:22

Ah but Liberal - this is the internet, you have to embellish arguments to win, the truth doesn't matter.

I think she ate it.

KatieKaye Fri 09-May-14 18:11:39

liberal - if I was said colleague, I'd have tried to catch it in my mouth!
Am officially starving right now. And probably a bit loopy too. Maybe even fruitloopy, only it's the end of the week and the cupboards are bare, along with the fruitbowl.
Life is very hard...

LiberalLibertine Fri 09-May-14 18:12:20

Op, honestly, why won't you answer any of the reasonable questions being asked?

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 18:12:25

did you really go on about your food poisoning for an hour? If so, why?

No lolz I lied about that part.

I actually spoke about it for 57 minutes and 43 seconds.

The first 15 was about how I got to KFC and then deciding on what to eat.

The next 11 minutes was spent on how first I ate 10 fries, had a sip of my drink and then I ate 3 pieces of popcorn chicken, then ate 8 more fries.

I then spent 5 minutes and 3 seconds explaining how I felt fine.

And then it was a full 26 minutes and 40 seconds on how many times I threw up, how I broke into a cold sweat, how I screamed in pain, what exactly the sick looked like.

They were all enthralled and begged me to tell it again.

HannerHet Fri 09-May-14 18:13:09

Did you eat the burger??????????? ??

ArmyDad Fri 09-May-14 18:13:33

OP to self: Fuck I've lost this one. Oh someone has used a term that could, if I try really hard, consider offensive. Back in the game.

picnicbasketcase Fri 09-May-14 18:13:56

Definitely ate the burger.

sharonthewaspandthewineywall Fri 09-May-14 18:15:32

DID YOU EAT THE BURGER
DID YOU EAT THE BURGER
DID YOU EAT THE BURGER
DID YOU EAT THE BURGER
DID YOU EAT THE BURGER
DID YOU EAT THE BURGER

vestandknickers Fri 09-May-14 18:16:38

WHO ATE THE BURGER?????

SERIOUSLY......

WHY WON'T YOU TELL US?

KatieKaye Fri 09-May-14 18:16:45

Sides officially splitting with mirth. Not.

Why go on at such length? You do know most adults have had food poisoning and know what it's like?
And why assume everyone was actually paying attention to what you were going on (and on and on) about? It's not the most interesting topic.

TaliZorahVasNormandy Fri 09-May-14 18:17:12

I really fancy a bargain bucket now, you fuckers!!

<remembers on the bone chicken in freezer>

Nevermind.

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 18:17:48

Like I stated quite a while back, my OP was just about me thinking it was unreasonable for my colleague to buy me a chicken burger after we'd just ad a conversation about me getting food poisoning last week after eating chicken at KFC.

I wasn't asking if my response to the colleague was unreasonable.

Or what happened to the Louisiana burger was unreasonable.

vestandknickers Fri 09-May-14 18:19:39

FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING HOLY - WHO WONT YOU JUST TELL US WHO ATE THE BURGER?

WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU WOMAN?

itsbetterthanabox Fri 09-May-14 18:20:13

Don't eat meat if you don't want food poisoning wink

picnicbasketcase Fri 09-May-14 18:20:24

But what did happen to the Louisiana chicken burger? Did you throw it across your workplace? Bin it? Or just think, ah well, it's not what I wanted but I'm hungry.

aermingers Fri 09-May-14 18:20:34

I am now sitting in the queue at a mcdonalds drive thru just because of this thread. My diet is not thanking you OP

HannerHet Fri 09-May-14 18:20:39

Did you eat it or not???????????????????
Did you????????

sharonthewaspandthewineywall Fri 09-May-14 18:21:59

DID

YOU

EAT

THE

BURGER

OR

NOT

?

KatieKaye Fri 09-May-14 18:22:20

It was very quickly established that you were very unreasonable (and very unclear too) and we are all concerned about the burger.

You'll efinitely know if your response to your colleague was unreasonable if the Xmas works meal out is at KFC.

What did happen to the burger?
I'm kind of feeling sorry for it. "The burger that nobody loved."

I'll eat it and put the poor little thing out of it's yummy-looking, finger-lickingly-good misery.

picnicbasketcase Fri 09-May-14 18:22:47

Or given it to a homeless person, worn it as an attractive hat, cut it up into portions and fed 5000 people with it and accidentally became the new Jesus?

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 18:23:45

Fuck I've lost this one. Oh someone has used a term that could, if I try really hard, consider offensive. Back in the game.

Not at all. You win some, you lose some.

I think in all honestly this is the first thread I've witnessed with a unanimous answer.

I genuinely don't like that term and I personally wouldn't call anyone crazy. Especially a stranger I know nothing about, I just don't think theres a need for it.

Back in the game? I didn't realise AIBU was a game. Like I said I think I've used the board correctly. I asked, I got my answer. I haven't flounced or continued to argue against people.

vestandknickers Fri 09-May-14 18:24:37

Maybe the burger is on Ebay.

I'll buy it.

KatieKaye Fri 09-May-14 18:25:07

Was it used as an indoor Frisbee for office high jinks on a Friday afternoon?

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 18:25:33

I am now sitting in the queue at a mcdonalds drive thru just because of this thread. My diet is not thanking you OP

I'm boycotting McDonalds. I thought the mozzarella dippers were here to stay this time sad

HannerHet Fri 09-May-14 18:25:44

DID YOU EAT IT???????

vestandknickers Fri 09-May-14 18:27:37

Why do respond to everything except who ate the burger?

I think it is because you did and it slightly weakens your argument if you admit it.

(strokes beard wisely)

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 18:28:13

Maybe the burger is on Ebay.

Damn. If only I was that smart.

I could have made a fortune. The famous Louisiana burger. Why not coin that as a new phrase instead of a fruitloop?

She's a right Louisiana burger that one wink

LiberalLibertine Fri 09-May-14 18:28:36

Ffs I've got to go out now, but you're on my shit list op, as a user and abuser of perfectly good burgers.

HannerHet Fri 09-May-14 18:29:25

Agree vestandknickers

Cornettoninja Fri 09-May-14 18:29:37

When did you start boycotting McDonalds? Lunchtime?

Please, please tell me you hold then partly responsible for your colleagues terrible deed? grin

hotfuzzra Fri 09-May-14 18:30:03

You do not have to say anything, but it may harm your defence etc etc etc
Good cop - we just want to know who had the burger?
Bad cop - backhands you and screams DID YOU EAT THE BURGER?
Good cop - please just tell him, I hate it when he's like this
now you speak livelife

LiberalLibertine Fri 09-May-14 18:30:15

It would mean the same though op, that's why we have terms like fruit loop, and bat shit, because we need them.

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 18:31:33

When did you start boycotting McDonalds? Lunchtime?

No I asked for them as a side when I placed my order. I was only told the sad news that they no longer do them when presented with my Louisiana burger.

Sorry does that count as a drip feed?

KatieKaye Fri 09-May-14 18:33:17

She ate the burger.
Definitely.
(who in their right mind wouldn't? it looked lovely)
But admitting that would be more unreasonable than expecting collleagues to a) listen to long boring tale of food poisoning and b) make magic correlation between that and McD's American Burger of the Week, as specifically requested.

SteadyEddie Fri 09-May-14 18:34:46

The OP

BumpAndGrind Fri 09-May-14 18:37:23

My mum had a Burger King about 15 years ago, the burger was followed by about 10 Bacardi & Cokes.

She still hasn't gone back to Burger King since....it made her ill.

grin grin grin

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 18:39:22

Lol I love how some of these comments are said as if I'm not actually here.

It's like I'm actually on trial wink

KatieKaye Fri 09-May-14 18:42:55

Errr- this is a virtual chat. In cyberspace, OP.
So no, you aren't actually here in my house.
And we've no idea if you are online or are off doing something else.

Like eating that burger.

Did you eat the burger?

vestandknickers Fri 09-May-14 18:43:25

Not on trial. Case closed. You ate the burger. Why else wouldn't you say?

OP, are you Katie fucking Hopkins?

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 18:46:12

Geez ok, no need to be so touchy.

I just meant the comments made were as if they were addressing all of MN but me.

Like the users of MN are the jury.

vestandknickers Fri 09-May-14 18:46:42

...and enjoy!

She is, she's Katie Hopkins and she loved that burger.

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 18:47:29

OP, are you Katie fucking Hopkins?

confused

I don't think Katie Hopkins would use MN. Especially not to tell them she ate at KFC and McDonalds - think both of those are beneath her.

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 18:48:09

vestandknickers did you make that yourself?

I'm impressed by your effort.

Cornettoninja Fri 09-May-14 18:50:11

Sorry does that count as a drip feed

Not this time grin

I just had a wicked thought though (don't know if it's been mentioned already), do you think you were bought a chicken burger on purpose for going on about your food poisoning?

FairyWand Fri 09-May-14 18:50:23

I didn't call you crazy though. I called you a fruitloop.

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 18:50:37

I genuinely don't understand the MN obsession with Katie Hopkins.

I don't care about her opinion, I'm surprised so many of you do.

I don't see how I've come across as her on this thread.

vestandknickers Fri 09-May-14 18:51:35

No I didn't make it.

See, how I just answered a question?

Maybe that's because I'm not an attention seeking barmcake.

YellowTulips Fri 09-May-14 18:52:37

Poor orphan burger.

I think we should start a whip round to let it live out its final hours with an appreciative owner.

I bet it feels all rejected, alone and worthless.

I just don't understand how anyone can be so callous - even lowly McDonald's burgers have feelings. sad

Itsfab Fri 09-May-14 18:52:45

"it's common sense that if I was no longer could eat KFC because of food poisoning then you wouldn't go out and buy chicken."

This hurts my eyes. It is obvious what you wanted to say but it makes no sense as it is.

hotfuzzra Fri 09-May-14 18:52:57

Haha vest
Why don't we have Like buttons on here?

WyrdByrd Fri 09-May-14 18:55:32

It's not common sense to avoid all chicken at all!

Years ago (when I was a kid) I had a nearly upset stomach after eating McDonald's chicken nuggets. I braved then a second time a few months later and the same thing happened.

25+ years later I still won't touch them, but will happily eat McDonald's burgers and love KFC.

If didn't specify 'no chicken' that's not your colleague's problem.

nannynoss Fri 09-May-14 18:56:27

'I don't think Katie Hopkins would use MN. Especially not to tell them she ate at KFC and McDonalds - think both of those are beneath her.'

She ate it!

Goldmandra Fri 09-May-14 18:56:36

Maybe that's because I'm not an attention seeking barmcake.

Is barmcake better than fruitloop?

I don't see how I've come across as her on this thread

Because of your apparent lack of self-awareness perhaps?

Are you on glue OP?

Maryz Fri 09-May-14 19:02:06

I'm nominating this for Classics.

I just love a thread where the op admits she is very unreasonable and the admission is followed by random abuse of the op anyway grin

I have to say it has cheered me right up this afternoon <sniggers childishly>

OP, please don't answer the "did you eat the burger" question, it'll ruin the entire thread

<applies reverse psychology>

Maryz Fri 09-May-14 19:02:41

<resists temptation to insert box of frogs into conversation>

SteadyEddie Fri 09-May-14 19:03:28

Amongst all the Penguin and Yoni answers, someone will nominate this!

SallyannFanackapan Fri 09-May-14 19:03:44

I love you OP!! This is absolutely the first time I've seen someone stand up to the demands for more details just so folk can use it to harangue you! Well done, and next time go to Pizza Hut. smile

WyrdByrd Fri 09-May-14 19:04:47

Haha, I know. AIBU it's a cruel world wink

Of course I know I'm being unreasonable.

I said 5 (I think?) pages back that there's no point me saying that because I'd probably be accused of only saying so people would stop commenting.

If I thought I wasn't being unreasonable I'd have argued my side more.

hotfuzzra Fri 09-May-14 19:06:32

Saw this blog and thought of you
Do you mind cheeseburgers? Is it just chicken that offends your sensibilities?

Fingers crossed. wink

DorisAllTheDay Fri 09-May-14 19:08:47

The burger got bored of waiting and took itself to the next door office where it knew it would be appreciated. There. Solved. Thanks for an entertaining thread, ladeez.

AlpacaLypse Fri 09-May-14 19:09:35

Will this thread reach 1000 messages without ever revealing who ate The Burger?

I've got bugger else on tonight, I'm in for the wait!

Cervix where's the Nando's that's 25 miles away? Dtd1 for some obscure reason wants to go and have lunch there, I've promised her a trip to S*****n tomorrow to buy yet more teenage girl heaven clothing in New Look but don't mind going elsewhere in order to knock that one off her bucket list. S*******y? O****d? Surely not C********r or B**h? They're both FAR too posh like the town where we both live

Catsize Fri 09-May-14 19:12:00

Of course she ate the burger. It is finger-lickin' flamin' obvious.

And no food poisoning has resulted.

I once had an abcess in my chicken at KFC. Looked like a small brain with green puss. My mum and dad wouldn't let me complain (I was 13).
Went veggie soon after that... But even I fancy a Louisiana burger now, after 23 years of veggieness.

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 19:13:50

Well done, and next time go to Pizza Hut

I love your way of thinking grin

FairyWand Fri 09-May-14 19:14:37

I think the OP is posting from MacDonalds having seconds grin

jacks365 Fri 09-May-14 19:15:30

Well done, and next time go to Pizza Hut

Would that be chicken on the pizza?

FunLovinBunster Fri 09-May-14 19:18:04

Christ on an actual bike.
Will OP please tell me...
DID YOU EAT THE FUCKING BURGER??
My nerves can't take much more of this.
I'm passed CARING whether YABU/YANBU
WILL NO ONE THINK OF THE SODDING BURGER?

FunLovinBunster Fri 09-May-14 19:19:30

Are there any fast food chains that OP hasn't boycotted yet in her beef/chicken separatism movement of one?

I had a Louisiana burger last weekend - I'm still alive.

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 19:22:51

Are there any fast food chains that OP hasn't boycotted yet in her beef/chicken separatism movement of one?

Just KFC, maybe Maryland too.

I'm only boycotting McDonalds because they removed the mozzarella sticks which we established was a potential drip feed.

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 19:23:50

SauvignonBlanche are you sure? It could potentially be a Bruce Willis in Sixth Sense kind of thing ....

Fleta Fri 09-May-14 19:26:59

OP quite clearly ate the burger....but then it doesn't stack up with the ridiculous drama ridden monologue does it.

"Woe is me, I had food poisoning, I told my colleagues. They're all great big bullies and bought me the burger I asked for. So I ate it"

JesusInTheCabbageVan Fri 09-May-14 19:28:23

Catsize O you fucker!!! Really looking forward to my Chinese takeaway till I read that. Now I'm going to be thinking of tiny green brains.

Raskova Fri 09-May-14 19:29:16

YANBU! How dare they be so stupid! Who thinks like that! You guys should be ashamed of yourselves for treating OP this way!

Seriously tho, why won't you tell us about the burger???????

Did you eat it? I simply must know!

I once got Norovirus after eating a huge bag of Doritos. Even thinking about it gets me all a quiver. I can't even look at a Dorito or triangle shaped crisp. I do eat other flavours and shapes of crisp tho so no, it's not common sense.

Did you eat the burger?
Did you eat the burger?
Did you eat the burger?
Did you eat the burger?
Did you eat the burger?
Did you eat the burger?
Did you eat the burger?
Did you eat the burger?
Did you eat the burger?
Did you eat the burger?

angryangryangry

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 19:30:45

I'll admit one thing about the burger. I. Didn't. Eat. It shock

Raskova Fri 09-May-14 19:31:33

Obviously I didn't catch Norovirus from the Doritos.

Raskova Fri 09-May-14 19:32:06

You banged on about getting horrible food poisoning from KFC yet it was your colleagues who ruined your lunch?

No one wants to hear about your food poisoning and especially not around lunchtime.

Cornettoninja Fri 09-May-14 19:43:47

Nope I refuse to believe it <crosses arms>

(Props to you for handling this thread so well - the op is usually long gone at this point on such a long thread with no one agreeing smile)

Cockadoodledooo Fri 09-May-14 19:46:57

Hijack - Alpaca presuming I'm guessing you're lettering correctly, there is a Nando's currently under construction in S*******y, but it doesn't open until June 4th so don't bother going there tomorrow!

I don't think your colleagues 'ruined' your lunch op, they did as bidden pretty much. And I doubt they'll do it again.

picnicbasketcase Fri 09-May-14 19:48:16

But but but, where did it go then?

Ohbyethen Fri 09-May-14 19:50:43

All the chicken is coming for you.

Bunbaker Fri 09-May-14 19:52:49

Did someone else eat it?

Xmasbaby11 Fri 09-May-14 19:58:09

YABU! You didn't want KFC … you didn't get KFC.

littlesupersparks Fri 09-May-14 20:02:39

Alpaca, there's a new one in T********e - county town of the same county as S*******y...

littlesupersparks Fri 09-May-14 20:03:06

There is one in B***h too I'm sure ;-)

Of course I could just be saying that because it would lessen my aibu even more so if I said I ate it.

wink

I guess we'll never know what happened to poor little Lou Lou the unloved burger.

Catsize Fri 09-May-14 20:14:56

We know you ate it. Obvious from previous answers.

Pobblewhohasnotoes Fri 09-May-14 20:18:01

So you starved then?

Next time the canteen is closed, just being your own lunch. It would save you (and mainly your colleagues) a lot of grief.

Someone mentioned Doritos? I could just eat some Doritos right now. The fact that they got mentioned in the same sentence as norovirus is irrelevant...

Raskova Fri 09-May-14 20:26:10

Just you wait til you taste them on the way up pobble wink

TheHouseatWhoCorner Fri 09-May-14 20:28:43

What did you have for your lunch then?
