WhileWeSleep Thu 23-Jan-14 13:12:46

Mim78 Thu 23-Jan-14 13:12:46

I've reported too - not sure it needed more people to do it but just in case.

PatriciaHolm Thu 23-Jan-14 13:13:24

It was my thread.

Done. Vile, people (or person) sad

mouseymummy Thu 23-Jan-14 13:14:56

I've reported them too.

Im seriously considering taking a break from here as there has been some really upsetting stuff going on here. I can't help but wonder if there are more trolls than usual thanks to the news reports recently.

Either way, that's beyond the pale. Trolling a board for those who have miscarries is vile beyond words.

elliejjtiny Thu 23-Jan-14 13:15:06

have reported

Slatecross Thu 23-Jan-14 13:15:09

reported. What is wrong with some people?

Fleta Thu 23-Jan-14 13:15:12

I've reported too.

Do you know, I think that is quite possibly the worst thing I have ever read on a forum I've been on.

Sukebind Thu 23-Jan-14 13:15:48

Reported, too. Chicken - you have all my sympathy. It's horrid enough without people like that.

MTBMummy Thu 23-Jan-14 13:16:27

Found it - and reported

Rummikub Thu 23-Jan-14 13:16:45

Noitsachicken, so sorry you are going through this. And had to see those vile comments.

Mn taking too long to respond.

Nicknacky Thu 23-Jan-14 13:17:09

What other thread are they on?

Hogwash Thu 23-Jan-14 13:17:24

It's still there, as are their pathetic comments. They are also on another thread together - one at least suggesting he's a bloke. I think they may be people for whom anything more than a short sentence would be a bit of a challenge, so I doubt they'll find too much on here to amuse them and cause them to re-register when they are banned.

Have reported each of the disgusting posts

TheHandbagOfGlory Thu 23-Jan-14 13:18:20

Reported.

Truly sickening that there are people out there that write things like that.

It's shame in instances like that that we don't have the system YouTube has for it's comments, if a comment gets reported a certain number of times then it gets hidden until they can delete it.

Safyre Thu 23-Jan-14 13:18:32

Reported here as well.

vladthedisorganised Thu 23-Jan-14 13:18:43

OP, I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope there's someone in RL looking after you.
As for those vile people - I've reported. It is beyond sick.

ShreddedHoops Thu 23-Jan-14 13:19:00

That made me feel sick. I'm early days into a high risk pregnancy atm.

MN sort it out please, there is no fucking excuse to leave that thread there angry

Reported.

Twonkette Thu 23-Jan-14 13:19:09

I've reported them all, they can't stay there much longer surely they're horrific

Monroe Thu 23-Jan-14 13:19:24

Reported. Despicable and vile angry

thanks Chicken, thinking of you

Allthequeenshorses Thu 23-Jan-14 13:20:16

Reported and posted in site stuff as well. Awful. Totally disgusted at that.

MarshaBrady Thu 23-Jan-14 13:20:39

God that's vile.

squoosh Thu 23-Jan-14 13:20:52

Sick sad fucks, sitting in their mother's spare bedroom in their stained tracksuit bottoms, wouldn't say boo to a goose in real life, but so 'brave' on the internet. I hope karma takes a long painful chunk out of their arse.

It's horrendous. I have no words.

I went to report them and it says message deleted in the report box but the messages are still there!! confused

stickysausages Thu 23-Jan-14 13:23:55

Done, they're gone now. But seriously!? Some people shouldn't be allowed the internet!

minouminou Thu 23-Jan-14 13:24:11

Will these sickos be followed up? Their IP addresses looked up, I mean.

Topaz25 Thu 23-Jan-14 13:25:17

I also reported, they've been deleted now. I hope the posters were banned. How could anyone do that? I remember when I had a miscarriage I was really upset that my GP was tactless. Comments like that would have devastated me.

PansOnFire Thu 23-Jan-14 13:27:37

Done. Vile.

HauntedNoddyCar Thu 23-Jan-14 13:27:52

That was 40 minutes it took to get that off there.

I wonder if there ought to be a klaxon option when something like that happens for the report to be looked at quickly. When it's clearly some fuckwit getting their jollies and there's no need to prevaricate. Big red exclamation mark on the report so MNHQ read it.

I reported those messages within minutes of them being there, I actually reported twice hoping it might flag up to HQ quicker, 40 minutes is really too long for things like that to stay up. I know noits saw them and said it was ok, for other ops it might not be. Perhaps an urgent button needed?

Armadale Thu 23-Jan-14 13:34:49

Hi, I'm very glad I missed the vial comments..however, to haunted, there was a thread a few months ago (might have been up to a year) that was absolutely vile vile vile and it took about 3 hours for it to be deleted. At the time I suggested to MNHQ that we should be able to triage reporting so that anything hideous gets looked at first...MNHQ said they would bear it in mind but I never heard anything more. Please suggest it again to them, maybe it is just repetition we need to get action on this..

HauntedNoddyCar Thu 23-Jan-14 13:39:35

OneStep I reported it between the first and second posts appearing so probably about the same time as you.

Armadale thanks for that bit of info. It lends weight to the case. I might put something in site stuff.

minouminou Thu 23-Jan-14 13:40:07

When I looked at the thread I was expecting some tactless/sanctimonious rubbish. What I did see actually stopped my breath for a moment.

Thought the OP handled it with a lot of class.

RandyRudolf Thu 23-Jan-14 13:44:01

I have just quickly looked through the thread and can't see anything vile, I think they have managed to delete such comments.
I haven't been following the thread but my heart goes out to the OP and anyone who has said horrible comments ought to be ashamed of themselves.

ChippingInWadesIn Thu 23-Jan-14 13:44:16

Yes, there needs to be a third category when we are reporting - one that is URGENT to flag up ones that need to go immediately and don't require any 'looking into'.

RandyRudolf Thu 23-Jan-14 13:46:23

The comments must have been bad because I've never seen such a strong reaction from MN members. This lot are pretty tough and can take about anything thrown at them most of the time!

Well done to those who reported and got the trolls deleted.

MsMarvel Thu 23-Jan-14 13:54:45

Reported twice. About 20 mins ago, can't believe hey were up for so long. Definitely the worst most horrible thing I've read on these forums.

ISeeYouShiverWithAntici Thu 23-Jan-14 14:16:16

I didn't see the comments but I assume they were revolting and I am so sorry for the OP of that thread that they saw them. Going on the reaction here, they must have been awful and it must have been very hurtful.

re flagging posts, I agree that it is a good idea to have a few categories, some treated as more urgent than others. Certainly a link to a petition is generally of very low priority, for example. Hopefully, and if the categories are well defined, people would choose correctly. Racist, disablist etc are perhaps slightly easier to allocate but how do you effectively grade offensiveness and stop people pressing the grade 1 nuke it now button over something that, objectively, is trivial, leaving it only for something like this-a comment that has plainly sickened all those who saw it?

needaholidaynow Thu 23-Jan-14 14:18:28

Glad I didn't see them. sad Hope you're ok OP xxx

MothratheMighty Thu 23-Jan-14 14:21:12

Perhaps the flag could be linked to specific, sensitive boards, so that if a post is reported on Miscarriage, Bereavement, Mental Health etc then it shows up as needing urgent attention.

HauntedNoddyCar Thu 23-Jan-14 14:27:28

I dodge start a thread (well 3 actually because phone went rogue on me) in site stuff if anyone wants to talk to MNHQ about it.

Hogwash Thu 23-Jan-14 16:19:57

minouminou I don't think it is as easy as checking IP addresses. There was a very sick troll a while ago now who I had conversations with MNHQ about, as did another Mumsnetter. I think MNHQ said that by using a different device/location a different IP address is generated. I'm not familiar with this area, but I think the suggestion was that if someone logged on in Starbucks under one account and then logged on in a library under another account on the same device, a different IP address would be generated. I may have got that wrong though.

Damnautocorrect Thu 23-Jan-14 16:38:03

If I remember rightly from my admin days certain providers (aol for example) cause ip problems too so by banning that one IP address it can block more users.
