To be permanently hungry when my period is due?

My period is on its way tomorrow I predict, as today I have eaten
A bowl of porridge
Half a banana
Half a tub of broccoli and Stilton soup
At least 3 of those extremely chocolatey m and s biscuits. Actually I think it was 4
1 packet Doritos
1 packet smoky bacon crisps
1 pack haribo rhubarb and custard jelly sweets
Dinner of salmon, new potatoes and broccoli
A plum
... And I just felt a bit peckish, so polished off a toasted hot cross bun with loads of butter.
WTF is wrong with me?! Does anyone else get like this around their period or AIB massively U and a complete porker?!

Me too! How reassuring, I thought I was the only one!

I normally crave really healthy stuff, oddly enough. I can't eat anything processed with PMS.

Yep me also. Think it's my bodys way of stocking up as for the first couple of days when my period arrives I don't feel hungry at all.

Me too, I always want cereal - which weirdly was my only craving when pregnant. It's raisin wheats too, the least cool cereal in the world!

I'm on day two and just want to stuff my hole with crisps, nuts and ketchup sandwiches. Oh and plenty of medicinal wine.

Actually, looking at my list, 'all the carbs' seems like a fair description!

i crave chocolate like crazy and i just know it's a pre-menstrual thing because i can just about live without it the rest of the time!

Another one here, I'm like a bottomless pit only I have a very large bottom. With me it starts with cravings for carbs because it exhausts me, I give in and eat the carbs and it's a slippery slope into blood sugar chaos from there. It plays havoc with my very, very bad moods.

I'm awful the week before, the 5 days I'm on and then for a week afterwards because I feel so fat and gross from all the poor eating habits. I think I'm only happy for 1 week a month! Last month I started my diet, I was crawling the walls trying to avoid eating crap, I did pretty well and felt so much better for it. I need to keep up the good habits now but I have zero willpower, especially when my hormones take over.

Yes, the day before only. I lose my normal appetite suppressant. I used to know my period was due because of it - or become suddenly able to explain the previous day's biscuit guzzling.

Me too. Usually for a couple of days, but it's been nearer 5 this month. The worst thing is everything feeling like the end of the world when a minorly negative thing happens.

Stopped for fuel last week. And a peanut butter chunky KitKat. I rarely eat chocolate. Knew I better pick up some tampons at the same time!

Realised that I only ever buy chocolate when I am at that petrol station, and I am only ever there for a particular meeting, and that meeting happens.... every 4 weeks!

Oh my goodness, I'm not a huge fan of meat, either, but I swear I could almost eat it raw during that "special" time of the month.

I don't have periods but I do have days where I can't stop eating.

Yes to all of this. In this week's shop I bought 3 different kinds of beef. I don't normally buy beef, and I spend my free time thinking about chocolate but have so far managed to keep clear of it. Also as my due date spans over 4 possible days, in addition to a full 10 days ish of hormonal melt down, I have a lengthened eating fest.

Apparently women crave chocolate at this time and during pregnancy because it is high in iron? Or so I was told by a midwife when in labour with DC2. Obviously you lose blood when you have a period and your body needs to start storing up iron to replace that which it loses ... Or something. She said if you ignore the craving for chocolate you need to have something else high in iron like spinach or steak. So there you go! Justification for anyone who eats their own body weight in chocolate at that time every month!

I'm also like this. I now always have one of those bake at home baguettes in the freezer & some Dairy Milk in the cupboard as I just HAVE to eat. I tend not to bother with anything healthy for a 48hr period as it doesn't touch the sides of my hunger & so is, effectively, wasted calories.

Just checking back in to say I was right! Period has arrived. Haven't been so bad with the eating today actually but I feel a stop at the corner shop coming on- I need some Reese's peanut butter cups ( for my iron levels, obv)

And me, due tomorrow, yesterday I scoffed an entire selection box and a ton of cheese and crackers in between proper healthy meals. And I feel shattered. Today I'm managing... Just.But that's only because I'm too cold to go out to buy more chocolate

Grrr. So for breakfast I had two fried eggs with 4 pieces of toast. For lunch I had home made ramen noodles with salmon, broccoli and mushrooms, a portion that would have satisfied two hungry people. I ate 5 chocolates. An orange. A random chunk of cheese. For dinner I made spag bowl, a portion again for two hungry people. I was home all day doing nothing. I've gone to bed with a book to get myself away from the kitchen!

I could eat the contents of tesco when my period is due! 2 weeks ago when I was due,I ate a portion of chicken tikka masala,rice,nan bread,3 huge bhaji's,3 samosa's,a side portion of saag aloo,-then finished off my daughters tikka and rice.
...2 hours later i had my nose in a big bag of doritos.....

I'm exactly like this but it lasts anything up to a week before my period starts. I can, and do, eat anything and everything in sight. I'll be eating my dinner and mentally going though the cupboards to decide what I'll eat next blush. Then later on I'll be eating again. I thought it was just me but glad it's not.

Chinese food and Haagen Daaz pralines and cream ice cream (a WHOLE TUB).
I am currently due on but trying to be good as I'm attempting to lose weight. No Ice cream in the house. Ignoring my brain that is telling me to order chinese!!!!
I also feel very very fat the day before I come on!

I'm not sure Cadbury's Dairy Milk is actually that high in iron. 70% cocoa expensive stuff might be, but when I'm premenstrual, I am more likely to be going for the high fat/sugar confectionery.
