She's just so squidgy and she smells so lovely. grin

Is there some kind of therapy for this or will I just grow out of it?

YANBU. i still sometimes get the urge to eat my 6 year old. In a nice way.

Slatecross Sat 04-Jan-14 15:32:20

YANBU. I wanted a good chomp on my new baby niece. She's delicious.

FortyDoorsToNowhere Sat 04-Jan-14 15:32:59

Ponders on how many calories a baby would be.

vintagesewingmachine Sat 04-Jan-14 15:58:01

YANBU at all. My 6 yr old DS is so lush, I could just eat him. I hope I will grow out of it as I don't want to be a bunny boiler MIL in the future!!

RandyRudolf Sat 04-Jan-14 16:02:35

I want to eat all babies or at least take a chunk out of their cheeks and thighs.

pointythings Sat 04-Jan-14 16:04:01

I still chomp on my DDs occasionally and they are 10 and 12. It is normal to want to eat one's children. grin

thornrose Sat 04-Jan-14 16:04:41

OOH now I really want to snack on a gorgeous, squidgy, irresistible baby grin

ISeeYouShiverWithAntici Sat 04-Jan-14 16:22:29

Oh yes. I used to lick mine when they were newborn. Total compulsion over which I had no control. Id lick their foreheads. Couldnt stop myself!
I smell them all the time too. They are teens now and my eldest smells different. He doesnt smell like mine anymore. Youngest does but theres only 15 months between them so I expect he will suddenly stop smelling 'right' soon enough.

I am sure they will be happy when I stop sniffing their heads during every cuddle. They think it's weird. grin

LittleBabySqueakSqueak Sat 04-Jan-14 16:22:41

DH was on the point of lighting the oven when I smothered DD in olive oil and covered her in a foil blanket!

Crowler Sat 04-Jan-14 16:23:33

Argh! I literally could not keep lipstick on for years because I love those baby cheeks so much. Please send her to me.

Doctorbrownbear Sat 04-Jan-14 16:26:47

Iseeyoushiver.... I thought it was only me that had a very real overwhelming urge to lick my newborns faces, like a big slurp up their face! I also had mild urges to bite and taste them and still get it with my 2 year old!

puzzleduck Sat 04-Jan-14 16:27:54

No, I want to squeeze my big kids all the time.

ISeeYouShiverWithAntici Sat 04-Jan-14 16:31:21

No, not just you. It was pure instinct and I couldnt override it. I needed to lick them.

My husband thought I'd lost the plot grin

MyGoldenNotebook Sat 04-Jan-14 16:39:12

I want to bake my baby in a pie

HermioneWeasley Sat 04-Jan-14 16:39:53

I still nibble my 4 year old.

They are all just so EDIBLE,

TallulahBetty Sat 04-Jan-14 16:45:42

YANBU, this is normal! smile

I want to eat DD who is 2, she is lush. I'd eat her little arms like spare ribs and have her squigy cheeks on toast clearly taken these thoughts too far wink

There is a Spanish saying. When your kids are small, they are so sweet and delicious that you want to eat them.
Then they get older and you wish you had. grin
Disclaimer: I nibble my 17 month old on a regular basis... While he doesn't mind... and nibbles back, he's teething

candycoatedwaterdrops Sat 04-Jan-14 16:48:15

I'm 25 and my mum has this bizarre desire to kiss my cheek over and over with great gusto every time I see her. I avoid her now in case she tries to eat me. wink

ReticulatingSplines Sat 04-Jan-14 16:50:06

I want to eat DD's neck. She's so chubby and squidgy. My 2yo has slimmed down a little but I could still pin him down and munch on his tummy.

That is what my pet Hamster said.

sad sad sad

needaholidaynow Sat 04-Jan-14 16:53:29

YANBU! My DSs are both just so scrummy!. DS2 especially with his chubby little legs and cheeks. They both smell gorgeous as well smile

SaggyOldClothCatPuss Sat 04-Jan-14 16:53:58

Having teenagers breaks you of this! grin DS17 is nearly 6ft, 13 stone, hairy, and rather spotty. I adore him, but the urge to eat him has passed! grin

Marylou2 Sat 04-Jan-14 16:55:13

I am pea green with envy! Babies are so delicious. Make the most of every minute. My DD nearly 7 says 'stop sniffing my head mummy'.

ISeeYouShiverWithAntici Sat 04-Jan-14 16:56:21

Im 40 and my mum strokes my feet! If she ever comes across them out of socks or shoes, she squishes them.

I dont think any of us are ever going to stop! grin

Rufustherednosedreindeer Sat 04-Jan-14 17:01:31

No I still nibble my 10 year old

He could do with losing a few pounds and I'm hoping he will stretch out a bit this year but he is so soft!!!!!!!

catgirl1976 Sat 04-Jan-14 17:37:45

YANBU

I still nibble 2 year old DS. In fact he now tells me "No Mummy. I not delicious. Stop eating me" sad

I shan't.

Congratulations on your squidgy, gorgeous, edible bundle. thanks

pointythings Sat 04-Jan-14 17:50:18

I used to be able to fit DD1's feet into my mouth when she was a newborn (one at a time, obv). Now she's a size 7. I still want to eat her though. And DD2 as well, though her feet never fit at all.

ilovesmurfs Sat 04-Jan-14 17:54:08

Yanbu istill want to eat my three year old, infact even the 9, 5 and 11 year olds I could nibble, not ds1 who is 14...

And its not jut my own children, if I get the chanceof a cuddle from random babies/toddlers I still ge the urge to nibble squidgy cheek etc blush

Armi Sat 04-Jan-14 17:54:50

Another baby-licker here. I literally could not stop myself from licking DD's head when she was tiny.

Tailtwister Sat 04-Jan-14 17:57:33

YANBU. I still haven't been able to stop wanting to eat my 2 and they are 3 and 5! They do emit cries of 'mummy, don't eat me!' which I do wonder about someone hearing and taking the wrong idea. When they were babies I was more into sniffing them than eating.

JingleJoo Sat 04-Jan-14 17:58:43

My DCs are growing up toooo fast ( although 4yo DS is still scrumptious), so now I have to try hard to stop myself trying to eat other people' s babies. And smelling their heads!

crescentmoon Sat 04-Jan-14 18:00:00

i feel positively carnivorous over my newest baby cousin. when i see her i just want to...bite her cheeks!

JingleJoo Sat 04-Jan-14 18:00:08

Squidgy baby thighs, chubby wrist rolls, and finger dimples..nom, nom, nom....

ISeeYouShiverWithAntici Sat 04-Jan-14 18:01:28

Oh god, somebody lend me a baby. This thread is KILLING ME!

Are you a rabbit?

ReticulatingSplines Sat 04-Jan-14 18:51:21

I am a human, honest!

Bankholidaybaby Sat 04-Jan-14 19:03:45

goodbyeyellowbrickroad Sat 04-Jan-14 19:09:33

I often think about wrapping DS in pastry and eating him all up. Not sure if I'd have custard or gravy with him. And I constantly sniff him. DH thinks I'm weird.

Mrsantithetic Sat 04-Jan-14 19:09:41

It's bare bums for me. Seeing dd waddle across the room all bare bottomed with her little dimples. I just get the urge to have a nibble.

Although she farts like her father so it would be a bit like Russian roulette

WicketWoo Sat 04-Jan-14 20:49:25

Oooh to all those other sniffers out there. Can you smell when your children are poorly, or rather when they're going to be?

I've only ever shared this with my DH but I generally know when mine are going to be ill as they smell wrong somehow.

Chunderella Sat 04-Jan-14 20:59:40

Yanbu. The other other white meat.

WicketWoo it's not just you! There was a thread about this fairly recently and lots of us agreed. I remember saying in front of my parents and inlaws that DD didn't smell too ill. MIL and DM nodded sagely, the menfolk were all confused so I think it's a maternal thing.

Mumraathenoisylion Sat 04-Jan-14 21:07:44

I'm a sniffer. I sniff mine like a dog sniffs the floor, they like it and do it back to me.

We look a bit odd in public sometimes.

froubylou Sat 04-Jan-14 21:10:07

I have rubbed 22 day old baby sons hair away from sniffing and kissing rubbing my cheeks across the top of his head so much.

DP cuddled him the other day with aftershave on and I had to bath the baby so he smelt like us again.

DP says we both smell the same. He says we smell of milk and bed. Even if we have been in the bath.

And when I came home from hospital the dog didn't know what to make of me and is still very submissive and timid.

DipDabDabDip Sat 04-Jan-14 21:14:55

I have a baby buffet on my 9 month old dd's belly. I'm ever so slightly disappointed that she has no gorgeous fat rolls yet. Please tell me there's still time for some to appear!

No, yanbu. I nuzzle rather than lick my 11mo and I'm now confined to closet sniffing my 7 and 9yo when they are sleeping but I just can't help myself. I reckon teenage BO will probably cure me

Lariflete Sat 04-Jan-14 21:27:56

DD was a tiny little thing with no real fat on her but DS is such a squidgy baby and I could lick and nibble him all day. But DD even though she's still a skinny minnie, loves it when I nibble on her neck and giggles her head off and shouts 'Eat Daddy first Mummy! Don't get me and DS!!!'

IdaClair Sat 04-Jan-14 21:32:29

I have also licked babies but only second time round, I had no urge to lick my eldest. Weird.

WicketWoo Sat 04-Jan-14 21:37:17

BarbaraW - that is so reassuring, I (and DH) thought I was a little bit weird!

lotsofcheese Sat 04-Jan-14 21:44:21

My gorgeous 8-month DD has chubby calves, wrists & a lovely tummy, the best cheeks ever.

I just want to sink my teeth in grin

NigellasGuest Sat 04-Jan-14 21:46:14

very worrying.
totally weird.
this is how cannibals get started.
oh yes.

ScaredToBeHonest Sat 04-Jan-14 21:48:29

I love to eat 4 month old DS's cheeks and ears whilst making omanomnomnomnom noises! His ears stick out just like his Dad's so are great for nibbling on and his cheeks are just so chubby and gorgeous.

He also gums at my cheeks grin

I'm now having to resist the urge to go upstairs and pick up sleeping DS so I can chew on his cheeks

BusWanker Sat 04-Jan-14 21:52:58

I always smell my baby. Even his breath smells cute.
My mum understands as I can ask her to come over and smell him and she says yes, and she does it!

RubyrooUK Sat 04-Jan-14 21:58:28

I too want to eat my delicious DSes. They are three and nine months. DS1 is just so wonderful, hilarious, sweet and loving (and edible) while DS2 is so stunningly beautiful that I can't believe he is mine (and so edible).

<wanders off looking for some delicious child chomping>

pointythings Sat 04-Jan-14 22:03:58

They do smell different when they are coming down with something. Even when they are older. They also smell very different when they are more than usually well and rested - my DDs smelled amazing when we came back after two weeks in Florida, all suntanned and relaxed and fit after loads of activities and virtually no screen time.

Sammi1986 Sun 05-Jan-14 00:30:15

My 2year old niece tells me I'm food before promptly chomping on me, does that count?!
25w with my first so I'm sure it will come!

echt Sun 05-Jan-14 03:13:02

While never wanting to chow down on a baby, I DO find their squidgy limbs and feet irresistible. They remind me of shampoo sachets. This probably dates me, as I haven't seen such things in yonks.

SecretWitch Sun 05-Jan-14 03:18:41

YANBU! You simply must take a few tiny nibbles from their sweet corn toes...

My children are much older now and I still want to eat them up with a spoon sometimes..

MammaTJ Sun 05-Jan-14 04:08:38

I still lick my 18 year old DD!
