I just did a Google search because my eight year old is totally addicted to stampy longnose, and I see other parents have the same issue!! She laughs out pour st him and all she wants to do is watch him. I agree about the grating laugh someone on here mentioned.

footballmum Sat 14-Dec-13 12:57:38

I agree!! I have two DSs who are obsessed with him. His voice and laugh are like fingers down a blackboard to me <shudder>

How have I missed this? I have never heard of it but I have DSs of 14 and 11. confused

GobbySadcase Sat 14-Dec-13 13:04:48

He needs garrotting.

What is he?

cranberryorange Sat 14-Dec-13 13:06:13

Stampy might aswell be a member of our family. I hear his voice floating around the house more than anyone elses thanks to Ds's obsession with himhmm

Branleuse Sat 14-Dec-13 13:08:03

I hate stampy fucking longnose. I wish him harm

GobbySadcase Sat 14-Dec-13 13:26:04

for Sparkling to enjoy
Most authentic experience is with kid constantly playing at max volume.

Is that the right link Gobby? looks a bit intellectual. confused

GobbySadcase Sat 14-Dec-13 15:18:01

Ah-ha. There is a glimmer of recognition from DS2 Gobby. He says he doesn't watch it because it's annoying. shock

FannyFifer Sat 14-Dec-13 15:55:02

DS is a big minecraft fan and loves Stampy as well.

InTheBEEwitchedWinter Sat 14-Dec-13 16:28:23

His laugh sounds like Jimmy Carr's... fhmm

Suzietastic Sat 14-Dec-13 22:43:23

I have a long list of terrible things I would like to do ti him, all of which are illegal.

BakeOLiteGirl Sat 14-Dec-13 23:30:41

I've honestly had five hours of him and his voice today. It's been a lazy day because I am ill. But I've enjoyed his meanderings through Minecraft. Must be really ill.

JollySantersSelectionBox Sat 14-Dec-13 23:37:16

Aww, Stampy is revered in this house. It was a miserable week when he was removed from YouTube.

DS wanted me to call him!

Jimmy Carr laugh I agree. Quite sweet on his Christmas vid when he got loads of minecraft pressies and told everyone not to play Minecraft but spend the day with family. And he doesn't swear.

#team Stampy

NettleTea Sat 14-Dec-13 23:41:20

I agree on the Jimmy Carr laugh, and I have found myself becoming strangely fond of him, ever since the #SaveStampy fiasco.
DS was skipping around the house happily the other day because Stampy 'liked' a photo of his minecraft cake on FB

and no swearing which, in this YouTube age, is a blessing

JollySantersSelectionBox Sat 14-Dec-13 23:47:36

Oh I think I saw the cake. Did it have Stampy standing on the top? X

happytalk13 Sat 14-Dec-13 23:49:41

Stampy has a God-like status in our house.

Handy tip - headphones!

happytalk13 Sat 14-Dec-13 23:54:25

Why on earth did they try to erase his Youtube account?

Stampy is to the world of Minecraft, what Justin is to CBeebies - an all-pervasive pied-piper.

MistressDeeCee Sun 15-Dec-13 01:36:38

I hate Stampy Longnose. & Horrid Henry. & Spongebob Squarepants.

justpoppy Sun 15-Dec-13 07:46:47

DS's earphones broke over a week ago. Stampy's voice is permanently etched on my brain at the moment.

rainbow26 Sun 15-Dec-13 08:04:34

As I write this my two ds are both watching him on YouTube withe their earphones on!!!grinhis voice does my absolute head In,but my kids seem to love him confused.

NynaevesSister Sun 15-Dec-13 08:12:14

Totally missed that they tried to remove his account! Is that why there is a Stampy Longhead too (same voice).

God I hate that voice. And that laugh. Hate it at a sub atomic level. But son loves the videos and l'd rather he didn't wear headphones too much as he turns the sound up too loud.

There are way worse things he could be into so I don't mind really. He's having fun and getting ideas for the game.

Didn't know there was a Facebook page. Are there any other Stampy sites?

Son wants a Stampy toy for Christmas or a Stampy book!

NynaevesSister Sun 15-Dec-13 08:13:28

Is Stampy the result of someone mixing DNA from Norl Edmonds and Jimmy Carr?

happytalk13 Sun 15-Dec-13 08:51:14

He's a cheerful chap indeed and very dedicated. If I let Happy Jr he would be watch him all day. He's continually asking if he can make a video with him, laughing hysterically at his jokes and every single conversation has Stampy featured in it somewhere. I had no idea how big he was until I saw other parents posting on MN.

MooseyMouse Sun 15-Dec-13 08:58:03

We love Stampy Longnose too!

JakeBullet Sun 15-Dec-13 12:43:32

My DS is obsessed too.....but I am forever grateful that Stampy keeps his dialogue clean.....unlike other gaming videos.

As DS is autistic and thinks that Stampy is the new Messiah this is fabulous,

Whirliwig72 Wed 15-Jan-14 13:47:13

Ds worships him too - is he paid by Mojang do you think?

Thetallesttower Wed 15-Jan-14 13:49:53

My children are allowed to watch Stampy videos because in the main he doesn't swear or say thing inappropriate for preteens. Unlike some of the Minecraft regulars who I just banned in the end.

Orangeanddemons Wed 15-Jan-14 13:50:44

Stampylongosedtwat if you ask me.

The voice goes through me. Dd thinks he's wonderful

willyoulistentome Wed 15-Jan-14 13:55:04

My son too. He wants to get a ginger cat just so we can call it 'Stampy'

taczilla Wed 15-Jan-14 14:00:08

willyoulistentome: reading this thread all has become clear and just this very morning my son announced he wants a ginger cat called Stampy too.

Ilovestampylongnose Mon 27-Jan-14 15:37:57

Listen I'm a girl 12 years old I love stampy as you can tell with the name

I love his laugh and his accent. He is also funny and a really nice person the reason we "children" are addicted to his videos are those exact reasons I've just mentioned plus a few others like it's entertaining ect

But if you really want to know ask your "child". Also if your not carful your child could become obsessed with his videos like me and they could do whatever possible to get in contact with him. I love stampy and I like iballisticsquid.

LisaMed Mon 27-Jan-14 15:56:50

Stampy is on as we speak.

But lots better than Yogcast or some of the other minecraft stuff that I have genuinely barred.

Mumanddadof3boys Thu 06-Mar-14 09:45:02

Stampy does swear and it is thrown in a normal conversation. Admittedly not the worst swear words but I have heard them on several occasions

IMurderedStampyLongnose Thu 06-Mar-14 10:50:10

My nn shows just how much I love stampy. That voice.

SomethingkindaOod Thu 06-Mar-14 10:58:35

Wasn't Stampy hacked a while ago? DD was really annoyed about it, she follows him on YouTube. DS gets a bit annoyed with him, he prefers Tom Syndicate, who still has an annoying voice but his laugh doesn't grate my ears.

SomethingkindaOod Thu 06-Mar-14 10:59:52

iballisticsquid is fab! There's another one DD watches, is it icupquake? It's girl that does it anyway.

NynaevesSister Thu 06-Mar-14 11:03:01

iBallistic Squid and someone called David? I hadn't had any of the sweary ones so was mortified when I recommended it to a friend and she said it had swearing in!!

Stampy, as someone else said, might as well be another member if our family too.

FrimpongDench Thu 06-Mar-14 11:25:53

I see your Stampy and raise you Zach Scott, keeper of all Mario Bros walk throughs. He also does Minecraft.

He's Stampy on speed.

Dwerf Thu 06-Mar-14 11:38:27

I love Stampy and Squid. There, I've said it. My two are obsessed with them at the moment and we have hours of youtubing on the main tv. I actually find the videos relaxing (despite Stampy's grating laugh and shrieking). Some of the maps are gorgeous, really creative.

There's very little swearing, and what there is, you hear worse on the street. I suspect they'll tone that down even further now they are making money on it.

WanderingAway Thu 06-Mar-14 11:45:10

My dd watches stampy longhead. Are they the same person?

Frettchen Thu 06-Mar-14 11:48:14

As a grown woman with a slight Minecraft addiction, I can't stand StampyLongNose. Also, his very early stuff does contain swearing.

Yogscast are wonderful, but the majority of their vids do contain some swearing, so definitely not for the younger audience. Some of Sjin's 'Let's Build' series are swear-free because it's creative, not survival. His channel is YogscastSjin. He's currently doing (or has just done) a series called Let's Build Erebor, where he is building his interpretation of one of the settings from The Hobbit. He's It's sort of amazing.

TobyGames used to do Minecraft without the swears, but hasn't played in a while. His video archive might be a good place for a rainy day. He has covered other, less suitable games, since - GTAV amongst others; so only good for kids if they're likely to stay within the Minecraft playlists.

I am more than a lot tempted to start my own youtube channel featuring swear-free Minecraft vids. Just need to get a PC capable of recording gameplay.

Coffeethrowtrampbitch Thu 06-Mar-14 11:52:40

Ds1 is six and has just discovered Stampy and Mine craft.

I can't complain as before that I had to suffer Plants vs Zombies and the incessantly nasal voice of NintendoCapriSun <shudders> as DS watched him endlessly.

QueenofallIsee Thu 06-Mar-14 13:36:56

Ah Stampy...the other influential voice in my house.

mrselizabethdarcy Thu 06-Mar-14 15:03:54

We love stampy and squid in our house! Xxxx

bleedingheart Thu 06-Mar-14 15:13:17

Yes, stampylonghead laughs like Jimmy Carr and his sidekick sounds like Jon Richardson. I think the two of them are working under pseudonyms between take of 8 out of 10
DS1 loves him. DS2 (age 3) often states ''I HATE minecraft and boring stampy'

NynaevesSister Fri 07-Mar-14 12:58:05

Ahhhh bless him. Stampy was on BBC Breakfast news this morning. He is a very sweet looking young man. The story was that Stampy gets more hits than One Direction. I like him even more now! Was so strange hearing this familiar voice and laugh but a totally unfamiliar face. Son was not interested once he realised it was talking and not showing his games.

NettleTea Fri 28-Mar-14 22:43:52

I think I have a little bit of a crush on Stampy

NettleTea Fri 28-Mar-14 22:45:08

Ds's dad actually phoned me that morning to tell me that he was on breakfast TV

I think he was on 5Live after that, because even my mum heard him, and actually approves of him now!!

littledrummergirl Fri 28-Mar-14 22:56:14

Ds1 (13) has saved every penny he has been given and earned. I have had to buy a number of different technical things to allow him to film his gameplay.
He has uploaded a few to his you tube account however he plays with his brother and I watch the clips so no bad words.
Currently its minecraft.
Ds2 watches stampy and co a lot.

Namechangeforamo Fri 28-Mar-14 23:37:27

I have ds (10 &7) convinced that Stampy and I go waaaayy back. That I met him at uni and we used to hang out (I am considerably older than stampy) . Does anyone else tell tall stories to their dc? Or am I just weird?

Sunnymeg Sat 29-Mar-14 14:08:57

I think the political parties are missing a trick, they should enlist him and make him their leader. Then in 8 - 13 years time they would win by a landslide, having been voted in by all his followers.

I have to say I don't mind him, his delight in childish things is infectious and when he was interviewed on BBC Breakfast, he came across very well. Seriously though I think he could easily team up with someone like ROSPA to help children with crossing the road, that sort of thing.

gordyslovesheep Sat 29-Mar-14 14:14:20

dd2 - 9, has been watching him for the last hour!

Jinty64 Sat 29-Mar-14 14:19:54

It's free babysitting.

Willyoulistentome Sat 29-Mar-14 14:26:16

Yy to Stampy really being Jimmy Carr and iballisricsquid really being Jon Richardson. I thought it was only me that thought that. I was convinced until I saw stampy on the news.

TheVermiciousKnid Sat 29-Mar-14 15:31:11

I think MN should have Stampy in for a webchat!

JohnCusacksWife Sat 29-Mar-14 15:46:01

DD1 is obsessed with Stampy....would watch his vids 24 hrs a day if I let her. Headphones are your friend.....

HeadfirstForTHiddy Sat 29-Mar-14 15:46:53

My 4 dc live for Stampy videos! His voice drives me nuts but it keeps the kids happy!

itsmefinnG Sun 13-Apr-14 20:03:01

my 5 year old sister is totally addicted to stampy! his voice is annoying!

ICanSeeTheSun Sun 13-Apr-14 20:14:16

I love Stampy, that man is god in this house.

Given me a few tips as well.

ICanSeeTheSun Sun 13-Apr-14 20:14:59

My kitchen on MC

PoirotsMoustache Mon 14-Apr-14 16:40:54

Some of stampy's early vids have swearing in, his newer ones have the odd 'bloody' and occasional 'shit' in there, but are generally clean.

iballisticsquid is another one loved by my DS. I actually have a bit of a crush on him, but it's only because his voice is much more pleasant on the ear than stampy's!

Diamondcart Dan is very clean also.

everlong Mon 14-Apr-14 16:50:33

Ds 7 is the same. .obsessed.

I keep calling him s campy long nose confused

Preciousbane Mon 14-Apr-14 18:45:40

I absolutely fucking hate walk through game demos because they are generally adult males who are wankers. Sorry that isn't a constructed argument. I'm not anti gaming, I was a big time gamer when it was in its infancy. They are just egoists.

Can we ban
1. StampyLongNose
2. StampyLongHead
3. Iballisticsquid

Thank you, I have 53 channels locked and loaded.

Donki Fri 25-Apr-14 13:19:37

Not perfect, but at least Direwolf20 has a pleasant voice to listen to in the background when the YoungDonki is obsessively watching Minecraft videos.

Ruushii Fri 25-Apr-14 13:28:08

I'm rather attracted to squid. <happy sigh>

ChicaChicaWaWa Sat 26-Apr-14 18:03:15

I thought it was only my two that were obsessed with him; then I talked to friends and saw that he is VERY popular. I also hear his voice echoing around my home, and that laugh is just so annoying! But, on the positive side - he speaks politely, doesn't swear, and has a friendly voice. You can't really ask more for kids, really, so I will tolerate him for a while longer!

Does he make money? And can someone explain the YouTube taking down the channel thing please.

Ds loves stampy!

Rommell Sun 27-Apr-14 11:04:17

I think he's quite a benign figure. He doesn't swear apart from in the early videos, he does things that he knows kids will laugh at - I mean, he consciously sets out to entertain them - and he gives them loads of ideas for their own minecraft pursuits which, given that minecraft is actually quite a creative game, is a good thing. There are much worse people around that kids could be looking up to, and I think it's quite sweet that he's found a way of getting paid for doing what he loves.

BeattieBow Sun 27-Apr-14 11:14:02

he seems quite harmless. My 3 are addicted to him - they wait for the next video to be uploaded. Unfortunately we don't have 3 sets of headphones so i have to listen to his dulcet tones every day! (luckily we ban computers from 9-4 at the weekend so I don't have him all day).

some of the other mine craft people swear much more.

I don't quite understand what the love garden is though. hmm apart from the fact my dcs want to be in it.

ICanSeeTheSun Sun 27-Apr-14 12:38:03

The love garden is stampy way to say thank to people who have done something nice.

CarrotIronfoundersson Sun 27-Apr-14 14:43:30

Like some PP, mine are obsessed with DiamondMinecart. I know more about Dan than I do about my own husband (or so it feels!) - his videos are clean though, so don't mind too much.

XxForkhandlesxX Mon 14-Jul-14 15:02:30

Oh he swears alright. He used the F-word in 'Stampy's Lovely World - Highlights' just after 4 minutes in "a f*****g creeper'

Downtheroadfirstonleft Mon 14-Jul-14 15:19:26

Whilst I hate Minecraft, almost as much as Lego, at least you can't stand on bits of Minecraft (& I've yet to send an iPad up the Hoover....).

CauldronOfFrogsLegs Mon 14-Jul-14 15:22:00

Dan tdm! Yep, ds is obsessed with him and in fact prefers him over stampy!

Butkin Mon 14-Jul-14 16:42:57

DD no longer listens to Stampy but instead is now obsessed by the monotonous drone of American girls teaching her how to make cute pets our of loom bands. Not sure what is worse!!

velouria Mon 14-Jul-14 16:44:02

He is not as annoying as the other guy my kids watch, nerd3 or something, seems to do sims and bus/train simulator videos :S strange children.

3ismylot Mon 14-Jul-14 17:14:37

I have an 8 year old DS who is minecraft mad too and spend many hours a week listening to either Stampy or Squiddy!
Infact we got a new kitten last week and he has been named Stampy by the kids hmm not sure if its an improvement on the hamsters Harry and Potter or not grin

OpiesOldLady Mon 14-Jul-14 17:24:50

All mine love Stampy/Squid and Diamond minecart Dan.

YES to having Stampy in for a MN webchat!

WanderingAway Tue 15-Jul-14 14:00:28

My dd is watching stampy right now.

I find it harmless. He is a young guy making money by playing a computer game. He should be applauded.

Idontseeanyicegiants Tue 15-Jul-14 14:08:45

His laugh is irritating but we've grown to like him here!
I think he's on the new series of Dick & Dom's Absolute Genius btw, I follow them on Twitter and they mentioned doing some filming with him. smile

hatzran Sat 06-Dec-14 17:18:15

Some concerns over stampylongnose youtube minecraft videos. As a parent of and 8 year old its so difficult not to feel paranoid when my young child goes on the internet. However I recently stopped her access to stampylongnoses site. This was after listening to him talk to children about coming into his 'love garden' and also a mention of a 'porksword' amongst other innuendos that I don't feel are meant for innocent ears. My gut instinct is saying something is not right about a grown man attracting young children through the medium of an addictive game like minecraft. I also don't know who this guy is how old he is and whether he is just an innocent man-child or something more sinister. Maybe if I met him face to face my fears would be allayed? I would say to all parents maybe have a listen to his videos (and try not to go crazy) especially his rhymes about his characters like Mr pork chop and judge for yourself. My decision however, after already doing this is to simply block access to his site in our home.

christmashope Sun 07-Dec-14 07:02:24

My 8 year old son loves him too!!

MrsWombat Sun 07-Dec-14 08:53:06

He does it for the money. Professional you tubers earn lots of money from you tube selling the ad space before each video and they get a cut. The more subscribers and more views the more money they get. I know some FIFA 15 gamer you tubers and it's pretty much the same thing. It's something like a $1 for every 10000 views, which is a lot of money when you do a video a day which each gets millions of views.

We love him anyway. grin

DollyMcDolly Sun 07-Dec-14 09:10:57

HATZRAN - I think you are overthinking it tbh. He is harmless.

GaryShitpeas Sun 07-Dec-14 09:16:54

Oh god ds (8) and dd (5) are obsessed with the annoying bastard too confusedconfused

fairgame Sun 07-Dec-14 09:25:27

DS (10) has just picked up the galaxytab for another day of minecraft. Give it 10 minutes before i hear 'Helloooooo it's Stampyyy'.

FairyBiker Sun 07-Dec-14 09:39:02

I don't mind stampy as long as I don't have to hear him!

Just wish there was a way of watching gaming videos, not just stampy somewhere other than YouTube. I always feel he's 2 clicks away from something inappropriate

SageSeymour Sun 07-Dec-14 09:45:56

Bear in mind that in older youtube videos Stampy DOES swear. A lot. He then caught on to the fact that his audience was aged about 7 and stopped . But I've twice heard 'fuck' coming from my 8 year olds ipad when he's watching Stampy. And leapt on said ipad immediately!

Picturesinthefirelight Sun 07-Dec-14 10:16:05

Hatzran -

Pigs are a big thing on Minecraft. There are lots of references to pugs, pork & porkchops. Pigs are cute & desirable to have in your Minecraft world.

Stampy is now a public persona, he has been interviewed on TV on many occasions & regularly attends large public gaming events.

Girlwhowearsglasses Sun 07-Dec-14 10:20:32

Get Google account set up for child I know it's not strictly allowed but here's why - if they have a Google account you can see what they have watched on youtube, you can lock the Family safe settig in youtube (don't tell'em the Google account password), you can even subscribe them to channels you do like ( Dangermouse a fave here) and put a watch list for them. You can see everything they watch on whatever devices they use it on. I'd rather that than have him on my youtube as it gets mixed up with my watching and work research watching etc.

I will dig up a blog link later explaining it because I find it really useful with DS. I also have his laptop properly set up with Microsoft Family safety settings so I can control how long he uses it, and also have curfews set up (eg: not before 8am).

If he wants extra I have to sign In and give permission.

I have reluctantly let him watch Diamond Minecart but I don't trust him as much as Stampy.

Stampy seems nice in real life and his girlfriend is on se of his videos now too (she's a youtuber independently too I think)

abear Sun 07-Dec-14 10:29:53

We even have a Gerbil named Stampy in his honour

NotCitrus Sun 07-Dec-14 11:00:51

Stampy is annoying, whereas Zach Scott going through Super Mario and Plants versus Zombies was quite endearing, especially all the words he used instead of swearing.
Anything is better than Hello Kitty or the ads on Milkshake, though. Wouldn't mind Peppa Bloody Pig so much if it didn't have ads that dd can't get past.

MistyMeena Sun 07-Dec-14 11:13:38

We queued for over an hour to meet Stampy/Squid/TDM at a game con. They were really sweet with the kids and seemed genuinely amazed at the adulation. The children were completely overwhelmed and it was the best day of their lives apparently blush

Helenmumoftwo78 Wed 17-Dec-14 09:39:51

I would like to warn people about the shop that is affiliated with this stampy character. My daughter is obsessed with minecraft and in particular with stampy longnose or long head. I decided to buy some of the merchandise from the shop that he advertised on his facebook page. I ordered on 23rd November in plenty of time and before the date on the website for a christmas delivery, they took my money the same day. I haven't received any of the items ordered and can't seem to get them to refund my money, I fear I have been scammed and it seems I am not the only one going by all the comments on his facebook page! Please be aware that this company will take your hard earned cash but won't deliver the goods. I wish I had read all the comments before rushing to buy something I knew my daughter would love. So many kids out there love this character and I know it's not his fault but he doesn't seem to answer when you try to ask him if he is aware either. Maybe I'm a fool for trusting someone/something so highly liked by thousands to send the goods I paid for! Please be careful people.x

I keep thinking he sounds like Chris Evans, it's like being transported back to his breakfast show days, flash backs of teenage school traumas :/

StrattersThePreciousSnowflake Wed 17-Dec-14 10:10:45

Ugh, pork swords and love gardens are a million miles away from pigs being a big thing on Minecraft. confused

Just to add a comment about his shop - I ordered some things earlier in the year and they all came on time and just as I ordered.

Picturesinthefirelight Wed 17-Dec-14 15:08:43

I ordered back in October with no problems. I think things took just over a week to arrive

Picturesinthefirelight Wed 17-Dec-14 15:10:12

Did you get a confirmation email with a track the status of your order link on?

Serephim Wed 17-Dec-14 16:49:24

'He needs garrotting'
'I wish him harm'

You do realise this is an actual person you are talking about, a person who has done nothing more than be entertaining? How would you feel if your username popped up with the same comments? hmm

whataloadofoldshite Wed 17-Dec-14 16:59:26

His voice does drive me a bit loopy. Kids love him. Big YES to headphones!
I think the kids are loopy to sit and watch somsome else play a game? Then I suppose it's the Minecraft equivalent of Gogglebox?

whataloadofoldshite Wed 17-Dec-14 16:59:58

Picturesinthefirelight Wed 17-Dec-14 18:08:45

I don't watch goggle box but I think you have a point there.

Hatespiders Wed 17-Dec-14 18:27:56

Well!!! I'd never ever heard of Stampy until I began reading this thread. I've gone on Youtube and I'm absolutely enchanted!! It's fantastic!! The best one is the "Holes In my hula hoop" The man is brilliant! I do feel he owes a lot to Mr Punch - the repetition of the same phrase, the voice which sounds a bit like the 'swozzle' that Punch and Judy exponents use, and his confrontational character. I'm now going to look for more on Youtube. I'm definitely hooked.
(I'm 70, so perhaps I'm getting dementia.)
Thank you so much for introducing this to me.

My 7 year old daughters howls with laughter at him!

His voice is so annoying but he's harmless so I go along with it all wink

VivaLeBeaver Wed 17-Dec-14 19:12:30

If you want other non sweary minecraft videos then Cyan Diamonds is very good.

Solfrankmud Wed 28-Jan-15 15:50:37

Hi, I added to another thread yesterday on this subject.

My problem is not Stampy and friends rather than the 'other stuff' on YouTube that our DCs are only a couple of clicks away from.

So, I've built a couple of wordpress sites where I've aggregated the Stampy and Squid videos - and

Both sites have a lot of the YouTube content, which is updated daily but means your DC cannot watch videos of people being attacked by dogs (for instance).

He is such a nice lad. He was interviewed on The Breakfast Show (I think it was)
I could watch his videos all day. Ballistic Squid!! And all the lovely landscapes and constructions he's created virtually.
