Here we go with thread two.

There is a great deal of information on Thread One about vaping :

I think that many of us have been able to give up smoking thanks to e-cigs & vaping & are all feeling the positive results & want to spread the message.

Tiredmumno1 Fri 15-Nov-13 23:45:00

hi all smile

sooty I sent your stuff yesterday afternoon smile

QueenStromba Sat 16-Nov-13 00:39:04

Thanks magi smile

I was worried that I'd have to do it - I've started new threads in the past when the old one was full and the OP had vanished and have always felt really self conscious about it.

WholeNutt Sat 16-Nov-13 06:26:03

I'm so confused by all of this even after thread 1. Can someone anyone just say get 'this' and point me in the direction of a starter kit? No nicotine needed in the liquid..

ilovesooty Sat 16-Nov-13 08:12:36

Thanks Tiredmumno1!

ilovesooty Sat 16-Nov-13 08:17:18

And Maggie so pleased you liked your Smok vv from Vapourtine. I'm still thrilled with mine and have ordered another as a back up.

MaggieMcGill Sat 16-Nov-13 08:31:21

Thanks Magi. Well thanks to this thread I can proudly say that I am 44 days and 18 hrs fag free grin Wow! 895 fags NOT smoked! I can't even imagine smoking one again. Yeah! I occasionally think about it but that is it. For the first time ever I honestly believe that I Will be an non smoker when I turn 40 in January. WOOP WOOP grin

Turns out that it was not my new Vv battery that was making my throat hurt and cough. I have a cold. Can't taste a thing today so that is probably where the weird germolene taste was coming from last night sad

waikikamookau Sat 16-Nov-13 08:35:58

not smoked since beginning of september, i think, dont know actual date. vaping all the way grin
is it my imagination or does my face look less wrinkly? wink

NotYoMomma Sat 16-Nov-13 08:40:50

please can someone recommend me a starter kit for £30ish for my father?

he really wants to try one

YummyDollie Sat 16-Nov-13 08:41:43

I've ordered my ego pen (I.think that's the one it is) and a bottle of Apple liquid when it arrives what do with it? Guide for dummies please grin

waikikamookau Sat 16-Nov-13 08:43:35

i use this bloke, free delivery

ginmakesitallok Sat 16-Nov-13 08:44:58

Well done Maggie and waiki, I'm about to hit 5 months fag free and it's great! (Waiki, you're looking Fab!)

Wholenut, something like this along with some liquid would get you started.

ginmakesitallok Sat 16-Nov-13 08:46:54

Yummy, I've never used cartomisers, but you can find tutorials on you tube for most e cigs

MaggieMcGill Sat 16-Nov-13 08:54:33

Waiki I only know because I set an app on my phone. Apparently I have also saved £336.00 but that is debatable grin it certainly is not in my bank account.

Stopanuary Sat 16-Nov-13 09:01:50

I gave up smoking on 21st January (hence the user name! thanks to e-cigs and then stopped using those on 21st July.

MaggieMcGill Sat 16-Nov-13 09:05:10

Stop, just curious but how easy was it to give up the ecig s?

Cantabile Sat 16-Nov-13 09:07:24

Hi Vapers!

I maybe going to my first ever Vape Shop this morning - Flavour Vapour in Plymouth. DH has to go to Plymouth and I'm tagging along simply to go to FV. I am stupidly excited!

flowers magi thanks for starting the new thread.

flowersflowersflowers MASSIVE CONGRATS & WELL DONE! flowersflowersflowers
... to everyone who has given up or cut down their smoking.

magimedi Sat 16-Nov-13 09:17:46

Enjoy the vape visit, Cantible. My local shop is lovely, always time for a chat, a try of flavours and a chance to find out more about things.

waikikamookau Sat 16-Nov-13 09:18:42

i might go to my vape shop too, although it is slightly more expensive, but i am having problems with my electronic cig. sad

Yummy do you have a link to the kit you're using?

Cantabile envy I'm in London and the only 2 vape shops are way over the other side of town, it would take at least 2 hours on public transport.

MaggieMcGill Sat 16-Nov-13 09:24:07

notYo I'm probably not in the best position to advise you because I've spent the last 6 week buying cheap starter kits and batteries from ebay
and amazon. They do not hold a charge now but they still work for a bit. I think they do all come from the same place in china. For £30 I'm sure someone else can recommend a good kit.

Yummy, pour your liquid in, do not get any in the centre hole inside, wait a few mins to let the liquid seep into the wick and then flick your button five times until it start flashing. Then you should be good to go. smile

Good starter kit for £30 here. You'll probably want bigger batteries at some point but this has everything you need (except liquids) to keep you going for months.

Good cheap liquid: Joose Juice - this stuff tastes better if you leave it a week or two before using (steeping)

Cheap Hangsen liquid here - you can vape this straight away as it's already steeped.

Maggie did your fasttech parcel arrive?

waikikamookau Sat 16-Nov-13 09:36:48

what should i go up to, any suggestions, have had a so called starter kit since september, are there better bigger ones i shoudl be using

What are you using at the moment, waiki?

waikikamookau Sat 16-Nov-13 09:40:35

i am not sure, it looks like the starter kits linked to,
probably this

HettiePetal Sat 16-Nov-13 09:43:13

Did all of you vapers manage to give up cigarettes immediately - or did you cut down at first?

Alsl, Plenty - I've ordered three liquids to try with my kit. Will they taste horrible because they haven't been steeped? Should I buy some that has?

TY smile

HettiePetal Sat 16-Nov-13 09:43:51

Alsl hmm

waikikamookau Sat 16-Nov-13 09:45:24

for me the option of smoking and vaping did nto work, as i just ignored the vaping.
i think i had about one roll up, but it was better to not smoke at all

onlysettleforbutterflies Sat 16-Nov-13 09:45:53

Due to reading your original thread, I have now not smoked for about 6/7 weeks thank you! So much easier to give up vaping. I don't even miss smoking and know I will never smoke again, saved approx £150, look and feel better and no longer smell! [Grin] and a bit smug!

magimedi Sat 16-Nov-13 09:56:37

Hettie - I started with sky cigs (am now on liquid) & for the first couple of weeks I mixed vaping with my roll ups. Then I just decided to chuck the cigs. I had no problems at all but find vaping with juice much nicer than ecigs.

Plenty - I've seen that there are very few vape shops in London - which amazes me.

Although a vape shop may be a bit more expensive than ordering on line you do get a lot of support from them. ANd you don't have to wait for parcels! And I always get given a discount, or a free bottle of juice or something. And I like supporting my local shop!

They have just got a new website:

I have nothing to do with the shop - just saying how lovely they all are & if you are in/near Eastbourne, it's well worth a visit. Only about 5 minutes walk from the pier.

waiki, what problem are you having with your kit?

- You could get bigger batteries that will last longer between charges. Look for something that has at least 1000mah and it should last at least a day.

- You could get a variable voltage or variable wattage battery. This will allow you to crank it up a bit when you need it.

- You could get any of a bajillion different devices to stick on the battery and pretty much any of them will work better than a CE4 clearomiser. I very quickly moved onto GS-H2 clearomisers and I still think they're the bee's knees and very cheap. Everyone will tell you something different to get though grin

magimedi Sat 16-Nov-13 10:00:33

In fact, I wonder if we could start a new thread with people giving links or addresses of their nearest vape shops?

I was away this week, in Milton Keynes & I was wondering if there was a shop there - didn't see one but had I known where one was I would have gone.

I'll report this post to MNHQ to ask them if we can do a recommended shops thread.

Hettie, I tried the coffee froom joose juice the day it arrived. It tasted ok but 3 weeks later it tastes much better.

I stopped smoking by accident. I'd set myself a quit date of next march but when the kit arrived I just thought I'd see how it went and I haven't smoked since (except for one on Oct 31st, just to fuck up 'Stoptober' grin). It took me about a day to decide it was just actually nicer than smoking.

waikikamookau Sat 16-Nov-13 10:07:54

i bought another battery but that doesnt always fit, i have various clearomisers - sometimes they work sometimes they dont, i seem to have more trouble that dh, i change the string thing and then it might work or might not, i was told in one shop that mixing and matchign the products might be the reason. i spose that makes sense.

ginmakesitallok Sat 16-Nov-13 10:19:33

There's a link to b&m (bricks and mortar) shops on aaec here

ginmakesitallok Sat 16-Nov-13 10:22:34

You should be OK mixing and matching, as long as they use the same connection. If you are rewicking yourself are you checking your coils on an ohmeter before you use them?

waiki it could be that the clearomisers are not making a good connection with the battery. If they are screwed on too tight they can push the central pin down and then next time it won't make contact.

You could try pulling up the centre pin on the battery. You can also pull down the pin on the CE4.

waikikamookau Sat 16-Nov-13 11:35:16

i dont think i have rewicked, i buy those string things inside the metal piece of equipment. thansk for the advice aobut pulling the pin, will try that next time

MaggieMcGill Sat 16-Nov-13 11:41:35

Plenty No, still no arrived, it's being sent to my work so I won't know until Monday anyway. Did you get yours? Hope you liked it. That's the 2.0ohms

ginmakesitallok Sat 16-Nov-13 11:42:17

If you are replacing heads then you do have to replace with the right head, you can't mix and match those?

Lozislovely Sat 16-Nov-13 12:23:40

So glad I found this thread!

I've been vaping for nearly a year now. Up until a couple of months ago I was using the 'Vea' from Liberro - 'twas an American import that they've now stopped selling as the packaging doesn't comply with UK standards - WTF!

Anyways, am now using 1100mah CE4 which I love - lasts all day without fail.

But the god damn clearomisers - talk about hit and miss with quality. Following Plentys recommendation I've just ordered the shisha pens from Amazon so looking forward to trying those.

I'm a menthol girl and wonders if anyone can suggest a good one to try? I get mine from Liberro currently but they keep putting their prices up and a 30ml comes in around £14 with postage.

There is a shop down the road (Best4ecigs) but they only sell 10ml bottles and their menthol tastes vile!

Cantabile Sat 16-Nov-13 14:24:28

Back from the vape shop. I got more Apple, but also cinnamon, lemon and grapefruit. Haven't tried them yet, got them entirely on spec. Couldn't hang about and chat as dh was hanging about, bored and in a foul mood, so I just chose some flavours and left [grr]

I did think it would be bigger and have more variety of stuff than it did (dh wanted a new battery for his v old ecig, but they hadn't got them). Ah well, a friend is interested and she is talking of going to the one in Torquay. With luck it'll be bigger.

ilovesooty Sat 16-Nov-13 14:39:52

Tiredmumno1 your parcel arrived safely and I've started on the strawberry banana. Thank you so much.

I do love these threads and how helpful everyone is.

Maggie my i-clear 16 has arrived. Thank you! flowers

Lots and lots of vapour from the dual coils smile This is what I was hoping for. I can see me using this a lot at home.

Not sure about out and about as it's a top coil and you have to do all that keeping-it-the-right-way-up malarkey grin

something for your cold wink Hope you feel better soon.

KungFuBustle Sat 16-Nov-13 16:22:19

I just did an advanced search for your old thread! I got my kit today, I have strawberry and DH has coffee. Glad I found you all.

We're so beaten down by cigs, we're miserable after countless attempts, failures and all the other addict crap.

The vap thing I amazing, it's lovely and it fucking works. It's day one and I feel great. I feel like someones removed about 20lb of chains from us.

ginmakesitallok Sat 16-Nov-13 17:09:07

grin it's great isn't it? When I started ving I truly didn't feel like I was giving anything up, instead I'd gained a great new hobby.

ginmakesitallok Sat 16-Nov-13 17:10:14

grin even

Tiredmumno1 Sat 16-Nov-13 20:09:21

sooty I am glad you are enjoying, I love these threads too, everyone is so lovely smile x

ilovesooty Sat 16-Nov-13 20:30:12

Yes Tiredmumno1 I feel as though I've joined a lovely friendly community on this thread. grin

thanks to all of you.

ilovesooty Sat 16-Nov-13 21:12:53

Paradise Vape's web site and store has been relaunched.

Tiredmumno1 Sat 16-Nov-13 22:39:35

Oooo I shall have a look, thanks for letting us know smile

WorraLiberty Sat 16-Nov-13 22:45:16

I'm sure this is of no use to anyone since no-one knows where I live but...

I went into my local newsagents today and on the counter, they had electronic cigs in mild, extra strength and menthol...with a sign saying "Try me for free".

I was thinking "Eww...why would you want to puff on something that's been in other people's mouths?"

Then I noticed a bag of disposable clip on mouth pieces...a bit like what Police use on breathalizers.

Anyway, I just thought it was a really good idea and thought I'd share it grin

Good luck to everyone giving up smoking and taking up vaping thanks

Tiredmumno1 Sat 16-Nov-13 23:04:13

haha I've never seen that worra, that's actually a really good idea grin.

sooty the site has changed loads, it'll take a bit of getting used to, it does look better though smile.

KungFuBustle Sun 17-Nov-13 09:08:27

Morning all <enjoys strawberry haze>

Last night I tried Dekang Melon and it was narsty. When I was a kid I got given a set of melon scented note cards. This smelt just like that but tasted of completely nothing. DH has decided he likes it though so that's OK. I must say these Dekang liquids have a very good throat hit considering they're 16mg and I usually vape 18.

Those mouth pieces sound like a great idea Worra. When I'm out, someone always wants to have a try of mine.

That's great that Paradise Vape have a new site. Lots of us on the old thread ordered kits like this from there (although this one looks a bit better). It's not the best kit in the world but IT COSTS LESS THAN A PACKET OF FAGS and will give you a good idea of whether vaping might be for you.

waikikamookau Sun 17-Nov-13 09:49:04

still not sure aobut paradise vape without an address on their website. tbh

fifi669 Sun 17-Nov-13 10:33:34

I was having e cigs about 50% of the time, rollies the other 50%. I def think I was winning though and bought a USB rechargeable cig and refills.

Now I'm pregnant and need to give up. E cigs say not for use by pregnant women. Is this because of the nicotine I.e. Just as bad in that respect as normal tobacco.... Or because they're relatively new and so could be dangerous?

I'm finding it really hard now I can't use my e cigs!

waikikamookau Sun 17-Nov-13 10:35:30

well i still to recall trying to give up smoking when pregnant and i wasnt suposed to use nicotine replacement therapy.
surely the electronic cigs are better than smoking in terms of you unborn baby?

Oh shit have they still not put an address on their site?

I've had two orders from them with no problems but I can understand why people are cautious.

fifi669 Sun 17-Nov-13 11:12:06

That's what I'm thinking.... They have to be better don't they??? I 'smoke' a lot less when I use the e cigs too. I just wondered if the warning was a nicotine in general warning or a could make baby grow two heads warning?

FortyDoorsToNowhere Sun 17-Nov-13 11:20:23

I am on day 3 of vaping, I have had 1-2 cigarette much less than the 15 I have been smoking.

I feel like crap, my throat is killing as is my chest.

KungFuBustle Sun 17-Nov-13 11:22:46

I think that's normal Forty, sure I read that it's your lungs starting to work better without the thousands of chemicals in cigs.

FortyDoorsToNowhere Sun 17-Nov-13 11:28:42

It says on the nhs website that NRT is ok to use while pregnant.

Thanks kungfubustle I feel like I am dying.

SnapespeareSong Sun 17-Nov-13 11:29:18

Stopped smoking two weeks ago. Got a kit and 4 flavours from vape escape, I'm really happy with it! Currently on 'cocomel' which is lovely, thinking of next order being cherry menthol, but a bit worried it will be like smoking a 'tune' smile

mrstigs Sun 17-Nov-13 11:50:20

Hello guys.
After falling off the non smoking wagon (again) last week I decided to try vapeing. I have got an Eros CE4 ecig from mirage with spearmint liquid. It's really nice. smile
Now I have learnt from the thread that the clear bit I put liquid in will wear out quite quickly. I have got two in the pack, but when those go they are about £7-8 each. They seem much cheaper on ebay, but im not sure on compatibility. Do any clear bits fit on any batteries?

ilovesooty Sun 17-Nov-13 11:54:00

If you have a CE4 any normal clearo will fit your battery.

FunnysInLaJardin Sun 17-Nov-13 12:07:01

I have just bought a vision spinner and clearomiser and 2 bottles of liquid in Gold and Silver and Caramel and is it sooooo much better than the cartomisers. I can also still use my ecig batteries which is a good thing as the vision spinner is MASSIVE and won't fit into my pocket!

Also had about 2 fags in the last 2 weeks, I just don't want to smoke any more

Yay lots of new faces. Welcome and congratulations to you all flowers

fifi congratulations on your pregnancy. You could use the e cig to cut down to 0 nic? Glad someone has found some official info for you smile

forty you might do better with a VG based liquid as it's easier on the throat. It does take a while to get the crud out of your system though.

mrstigs yes you can put just about any sucky thing on your battery. Be aware though that some of the cheapo clearos are absolute shite. If you want some the same, I got these and they worked ok. I prefer GS-H2 clearos though, and they're even cheaper.

not2nitedarling Sun 17-Nov-13 12:14:53

I gave up on 22nd sept. not a single puff on a ciggie since. I smoked for 25 years. I use my e cig a ot less now and am reducing the nicotine levels gradually. Good luck everyone!! Keep up the good work. x

FunnysInLaJardin Sun 17-Nov-13 12:18:35

actually, how long does a clearo last? I only have one and will order more of they wear out

mrstigs Sun 17-Nov-13 12:26:49

Fabulous thanks. smile
And I'm guessing any liquids too rather than always getting them from the mirage shop? This sounds like fun. Hopefully enough fun to stop me popping back off to the shop for twenty Richmond...
Im using both for today and maybe tomorrow as I still have a few left and I'd never be able to quit knowing I'd not used them up, and it would bug me even more if I threw them away. (The excuses of an addictive mind) Then I'm looking forward to being free again. I hate being a slave to a stick of harmful chemicals.

FortyDoorsToNowhere Sun 17-Nov-13 12:32:13

Mrstig I feel the same only got 2 left. Going to smoke them today at some point. Then once they are gone they are gone.

£200 a month on smoking is really an expensive habit to have.

Yes, any liquid. Joose Juice is good and cheap.

Funny, clearos can last over a month but can also go at any time. If I were you I'd get at least one spare in, just in case.

Cantabile Sun 17-Nov-13 13:50:29

My clearo leaks! Leaks really badly; I had it standing upright on the bedside table with a really nice mix of apple/cinnamon/baccy, and when I woke this morning it was standing in the middle of a puddle!

What do I do?

I haven't used it much until now. Prefer my tank, but it was nice to have things I could just screw on to the battery with different flavours in.

Oh no Cantabile! Do you have a spare?

It could be the cinnamon liquid, some are known to damage plastic tanks. Check and see if the plastic looks ok. If it's at all cloudy or cracked, throw it away.

There's a list here of known potential 'tank-crackers'. I think most are strong spice or citrus flavours.

Cantabile Sun 17-Nov-13 14:33:52

It's not cracked, there's no discernible faults in it at all. I'll try it with some plain baccy and see what happens.

I'm not left in the lurch as I have 2 evod atomisers too, as well as the tank which is part of the Ego C I got in the first place.

The clearo came with a spare battery, from Vape Escape but they don't seem to have them any more - it was a blister pack of battery, charger and clearo, which you linked to on the previous thread. I only used the clearo once before with the Twisted Java grin, as I prefer a flat mouthpiece.

I wanted the battery rather than anything else, so the clearo was free as it were. If I have to chuck it it's no great shakes.

ginmakesitallok Sun 17-Nov-13 17:29:57

Re how long clearos last, it depends on what juice you are using and how much you vape . I pretty much chain vape when not in work. If I'm vaping something very sweet a head might need replaced/cleaned after a couple of days. With other juices they can last a week or more. It's cheaper to buy rebuildable clearo, so you can just replace the heads. I clean mine by soaking overnight in vodka and then dry burning them, you can get a few uses out of one head that way. Once they are unusable you can either chuck the head or rewick it yourself.

magimedi Sun 17-Nov-13 17:51:35

Agree with Gin - I use rebuildable clearos & vape Sherlock (tobacco flavour). Find the heads need replacing/cleaning once a week. I smoke 20mls a week.

FortyDoorsToNowhere Sun 17-Nov-13 18:00:06

I have the tank one, with rainbow oil.

I have tried a lot of the oils as there is a shop that sells everything for vapering.

I have 2 pens and the tank one seems to be the best for cravings ( rainbow one) while I have the red bull flavour for boredom.

QueenStromba Sun 17-Nov-13 18:43:09

Have a look at the bottom of the tank where the plastic meets the metal Cantabile. I find that sometimes clearos get a bit loose there - the plastic should be flush with the metal bit. If it's not then push the end of the clearo back towards the battery - this might take a bit of force. I've had the plastic bits come completely off the metal and dump liquid into my handbag before with the CE4s.

Cantabile oh good, I hope it's not the liquid as that would be a pain.

I have no idea how long the coils are lasting me. I've just counted up and between us DH and I have 14 shock coils in various stages of being currently used / waiting to be recoiled, cleaned or fiddled with / cleaned or rebuilt and ready for use (these are now jumbled up with a couple of brand new ones). I don't think I've had one completely stop working yet. There's one I rebuilt because I accidentally pulled the coil out when I was cleaning it though.

Tonight's strange FastTech Dekang flavour is Hong Shuang Xi which means 'double happiness' according to Wikipedia smile It is fucking foul! It's the first time I've emptied a clearo down the sink since Twisted Java. It's another tobacco flavour and there is a hint of tobacco there somewhere but it is drowned out by heavy overtones of dung and piss. Even DH won't vape it and I swear he would vape a mouldy sock. My advice is save your £1.21 grin

Another thought Cantabile, was it standing next to a radiator?

I'm having a problem with the iclear 16, it's suddenly got a very tight draw, almost no air going through it. It's not gurgling or leaking and it's not burning it's just very hard work getting a drag off it. It worked fine until a few minutes ago. Does anybody have any ideas?

Tiredmumno1 Sun 17-Nov-13 20:51:51

We have found out that some local shops stock the e liquids now, which is a bonus, haven't got to always order online.

Tiredmumno1 Sun 17-Nov-13 20:57:53

Sorry plenty I have no idea what you can do confused

That wasn't much help, I know. Hoping someone else knows?

Cantabile Sun 17-Nov-13 22:19:58

Worra, it is a good idea. My Ego-C came with 3 so I can let people have a go, without them worrying (or me, for that matter!). Good friends I don't worry about anyway, but all sorts are interested, so if I have a spare mouthpiece with me I can be helpful and evangelise to my heart's content, and wash the mouthpieces when I get home.

Plenty, DH has done something to my clearo and it doesn't seem to be leaking any more. I still don't like it much - everything tastes a little bit burnt in it, always has, sonce the first time I used it sad

FortyDoorsToNowhere Sun 17-Nov-13 23:28:58

Is anybody else finding it hard to sleep at night.

HettiePetal Mon 18-Nov-13 11:02:21

Very excited! My new vaping kit with three liquids has arrived this morning!

Brilliantly quick service - ordered on Friday night.

I'm going to be a non-smoker very soon, aren't I?

KungFuBustle Mon 18-Nov-13 12:08:58

You are Hettie!

I could pick each and every one of you up and spin you round. I still can't believe dh and I are not smoking. It's like someone took a bloody huge weight off us. I feel like singing in the street.

Strawberry flavour is lovely. Getting cherry and apple on Friday.

magimedi Mon 18-Nov-13 12:18:33

It really is amazing - isn't it Over a year on & I still feel excited by it.

How long have you been off the weed, Kungfu?

HettiePetal Mon 18-Nov-13 12:18:47

I have Golden Burginia (in case I miss the real tobacco taste), chocolate lime, cappuccino & aniseed.

My local baccy shop sells liquids so I'll have a look to see what they have this afternoon.

KungFuBustle Mon 18-Nov-13 12:31:56

Day 3 and I have never managed it before. Always had to o have a sly fag. I can smoke with a patch on ffs! Allen Carr didn't work, gp couldn't help, watching my dad die of lung cancer, patches, champix, cold turkey, sprays, gum, poverty, chest infections, I smoked through them all. No more. We've cracked it. We were sat last night marvelling at it. Cigarette free future looks likely, for the first time.

I know 3 days doesn't seem much to some. But feels like a miracle in this house.

mrstigs Mon 18-Nov-13 12:37:11

Hello everyone. This is my day one of exclusive vaping. Unfortunatly coincides with me hurting my neck so i can't move my head and shoulders and the pain is awful, so im using it a lot to help with the self pity. Still, if i can get through today fag free then i can surely manage to quit! smile

HettiePetal Mon 18-Nov-13 12:44:36

That is really, really amazing, Kung. Congrats to both of you flowers

HettiePetal Mon 18-Nov-13 12:45:27

Ow, Mrstigs. Hope it eases up soon.

KungFuBustle Mon 18-Nov-13 12:52:19

MrsTigs hope it improves soon. I usually say "chin up" in these situations but after I wrote the post I realised my error and quickly deleted.

What flavour are you using? I'm finding the sweet one to be like a fag and a sweetie which is nice.

magimedi Mon 18-Nov-13 13:01:50

KUng I was pretty much the same as you & this has been easy.

The only example I've ever known of truly having your cake & eating it!

Mrstigs - hope you get better soon. I reckon you are right about if you can do today, everything else wil lbe easy.

HettiePetal Mon 18-Nov-13 18:12:58

Does the e-liquid go into both the clearomiser AND the cartomiser.

The instructions are not all that clear.

QueenStromba Mon 18-Nov-13 18:19:14

You put liquid in both but only attach one at a time to your battery.

HettiePetal Mon 18-Nov-13 18:42:59

Ah - I see.

Are the cartomisers so that you can swap flavours around?

I'm using coffee - it's very strong. Will I get used to it?

Cantabile Mon 18-Nov-13 18:45:14

Hettie, Mrstigs, KungFu, congratulations thanks

You are all doing so much better than I am, and I am really delighted for you. I shall be where you are one day, I know it now.

QueenStromba Mon 18-Nov-13 19:03:54

I think they just gave you a mix of clearos and cartos since it's a starter kit so you can figure out which type you prefer Hettie.

Livesforbedtime Mon 18-Nov-13 19:41:28

Ok so I'm very tempted by this but all these words about clearos and cartos etc are confusing me!

Can anyone tell me a, what do I need to buy and b what I'm meant to do!

Livesforbedtime Mon 18-Nov-13 19:54:22
HettiePetal Mon 18-Nov-13 20:00:47

That's very similar to what I've just bought, Lives HERE

That has everything you need except the liquid, which you choose seperately.

Just charge up, put the liquid in, vape smile

HettiePetal Mon 18-Nov-13 20:04:18

I watched this to tell me what to do:

KungFuBustle Mon 18-Nov-13 22:30:13

Thank you Cantabile. You can do it too. I swear I never thought I'd be here. I thought I was weak and couldn't do it. I love this thread. DH and I are through another day. My lungs feel better and when I hug DH he smells like fabric softener, coffee and his toiletries. Isn't is strange today is the first time I smelled my husband not his fags!

I'm wearing perfume to bed tonight so when he cuddles in I smell nice and it won't be masked by smoke.

HettiePetal Tue 19-Nov-13 18:34:25

Hi all smile

Vaping is making me cough. Any hints & tips?

KungFuBustle Tue 19-Nov-13 18:47:57

I'm having the same thing Hettie. Chest feeling sore too. I'm assuming it's the lack of shit being inhaled getting the lungs all excited so they're having a clear out.

Are you coughing only when vaping or through the day? Simple linctus is good for ex smokers cough. Vicks on feet if you're coughing through the night.

HettiePetal Tue 19-Nov-13 18:53:50

No, it's the back-of-the-throat hit that's making me cough - with every drag.

Not an awful cough, but annoying.

I'm wondering if it's something that my throat will adjust to.

Surprising, given the 2000 chemicals and tar it's been coping with for years grin

HettiePetal Tue 19-Nov-13 18:55:05

What linctus would you recommend, Kung. I might get some in so that I'm prepared.

KungFuBustle Tue 19-Nov-13 18:59:35

Maybe a different flavor? DH has coffee and I can't bear it (love coffee usually) I found that had too strong a kick.

I just ask for simple linctus in the chemist. Just comes as a plain brown bottle with pharmacy printed label. I Had it during pregnancy, very non druggy cough syrup but means if you need it or two weeks in one go you won't hammer your insides.

mrstigs Tue 19-Nov-13 19:08:08

Hey guys. well i made it through yesterday, self pity and all! Thanks for the well wishes. smile
I've got spearmint atm, I like it, like smoking chewing gum! Fancy trying a fruit one next. I seem to have used an awful lot of the stuff last few days, but its been my first two smoke free days and I've been hitting it quite hard, hopefully I'll slow down with it soon. I even used it in bed last night (was in bed early due to the pain in my neck) was very funny 'smoking' in bed! grin
Hope everyone is managing well, both those quitting and cutting down.
One question, how long do you all vape for in one time? As in, how long do you feel equals one fag? I don't want to increase my nicotine addition hitting the ecig too hard!

HettiePetal Tue 19-Nov-13 19:08:09

Yes - the coffee is too strong for me as well. And I love coffee too.

Am trying the aniseed now, which is better - and I might have a go on the chocolate lime later.

I read just now that the nicotine is actually absorbed through mucus membranes in the mouth, so I'm just sucking & holding rather than inhaling for the time being.

HettiePetal Tue 19-Nov-13 19:11:08

Well done, mrstigs. How's the neck now?

Yes - the knowing when to stop is odd now that there's no stubbing out!

I used to take 6 drags on my rollies, so I stop at 6 with this. Seems to work for me. Although if you were on tailor made before, there's a few extra drags on those, I think, because they're longer.

KungFuBustle Tue 19-Nov-13 19:13:38

Aniseed! <shudder> after one memorable night with sambucca I can no longer do aniseed.

Nice one Mrstigs. I do about 6 puffs for each use. I use about 2ml a day.

mrstigs Tue 19-Nov-13 20:48:58

I can't suck and hold (there's a rude joke in there somewhere but I've had too many painkillers to are it smile , I just can't not inhale. I was just trying it. Shame as i guess it would be more effective.
HettiePetal Its better today, thanks, for asking. Hurts to buggery and i can't hold the weight of my head for long, but its not frozen in one place now which is nice. Im really proud of myself for not buckling and asking dh to go buy fags. Its the kind of reason i would have jumped on for a heavy smoking day in the past.
I think i am using too much at once, it is indeed harder when you don't have an obvious end point like you do with a normal cig. I'll try and keep count from now on.

QueenStromba Tue 19-Nov-13 20:58:41

I'm always surprised when people actually like aniseed - bleugh.

HettiePetal Tue 19-Nov-13 21:05:25

You lot are mad - aniseed is delicious.

Anyway - the vaping is really too strong for my throat, I can't even draw a little bit in without it stinging and making me cough.

This might be because I had quite a nasty cold a few weeks ago & I still have a bit of post nasal drip making it sensitive. Or, the nicotine (18mg) is too high for me OR I'm reacting to the PG.

So, I have ordered some lower nicotine & some VG based to see if I get on better.

But, till they arrive, I'm back to my baccy - although I've only had 2 of those today, so that's already mega progress for me.

Keep on keeping on, y'all smile

Evening all! <puff puff>

Hettie, Kungfu and mrstigs congratulations! flowers

Cantabile you're doing brilliantly! Count the fags you're not smoking, not the ones you are wink How much have you saved? How many fags a day are you not smoking?

Hettie I had the cough/tickly throat for the first couple of days and still do a bit on the first vape of the day. You could try getting VG based liquid if it continues. What level of nicotine are you using? Higher nic hits your throat more too. Guess what simple linctus mostly consists of? Vegetable glycerine (VG) same as e-liquid grin (DO NOT swig your e liquid!) I bet it would do the trick though, you'd just be pre-coating your throat.

mrstigs if I'm not too busy and I'm somewhere it's ok, I tend to chain-vape blush This is how I used to smoke my rollies though, given the choice - a couple of drags - let it go out - few mins later repeat. It's what I hated most about the smoking ban, you suddenly had to hoover a whole one all in one go. Your body will tell you when you've had enough nicotine though and you'll just put it down. This was something I was a bit worried about when I started so I did some reading. What I discovered was:

1) there is no evidence that nicotine on its own is any more physically harmful than caffeine, although it seems to be much more addictive
2) Most vapers get through around 2-5ml a day
3) you don't get the massive nicotine hit all at once as you do with smoking, it's a much gentler, more even intake
4) most people spend longer vaping than they ever did smoking, probably because of this

For me, I've decided to just use whatever it takes to not smoke for now and worry about cutting down after xmas.

KungFuBustle Tue 19-Nov-13 21:41:55

Sounds like a sensible approach Plenty. I've told DP we don't need to worry about how much we use as you would stop before it's too much as you'd feel awful and it's so much cheaper.

DH seems to ration his and he's having a rougher time of it. I just Vale when I want. Each Vale is a fag not smoked.

Tiredmumno1 Tue 19-Nov-13 21:46:04

Hettie it probably is that the nicotine is to high, and if it is pure VG then it will hurt the throat. As VG is a pure throat hit. Maybe try 50/50 or pure PG (tips lol sorry terrible joke). What have you got on order?

Tiredmumno1 Tue 19-Nov-13 21:48:17

Whoops x post with plenty grin I thought the VG WS the throat hit?

Tiredmumno1 Tue 19-Nov-13 21:48:35

was blush

HettiePetal Tue 19-Nov-13 22:04:08

I've been using a mix of PG & VG.

I read somewhere that VG is easier on the throat, so I've ordered some pure VG plus some PG/VG 8mg nicotine.

If either of those is better, then I'll know what the problem is.

Will get some linctus tomorrow.

Tiredmumno1 Tue 19-Nov-13 22:11:23

Using lower level nicotine should definitely help smile

Higher PG = more throat hit and more flavour but less vapour
Higher VG = more vapour but less throat hit and flavour

magimedi Wed 20-Nov-13 08:38:07

Can someone tell me what PH & VG are & how one tells what ones liquid is, please?

Hi magi, PG = propylene glycol, VG = vegetable glycerine. Some liquids have percentages on the bottle, some just say 'mostly PG' or 'mostly VG' and some don't say anything. If there is nothing on the bottle, it's probably mostly PG. What brand of liquid is it? Usually it tells you on the website, even if there's nothing on the bottle.

3 weeks for DP and me. 3 weeks! Not one fag.

I cannot believe it. I am also still on my first lot of socialite tips as well. I spent 40 quid 3 weeks ago on 2 e cigs and 10 tips and I still have a few left (that's for two of us as well). Plus a genius mumsnetter told me you can refill the tips as well with juice.

I am so thrilled. Both of us are very stressed and worried about various things, would have been very easy for us to have a fag, but we haven't because vaping is frankly better. We have also had a night out drinking which is usually fatal. But no, we vaped in pubs giggling because it felt so illicit!

I am so pleased as well because DP was a heavier smoker than me, and his chest was beginning to rattle. He also gets at least one chest infection each winter, so hope that will be avoided this year. I was very worried about his future health so I'm glad this has worked.

I couldn't be more pleased. I love vaping.

Well done everyone else for their success stories and thanks everyone (especially dollytwat who let me try hers in the first place) for their advice.

Also, I was smoking 20 a day, and DP 30. Which was just over 20 quid a day on fags. Which I have calculated at 560 a month on smoking, which is more than our mortgage. Very sobering when we actually discussed that with each other.

Estimate vaping will cost between 20-40 a month.

We are putting 500 quid a month in an account separate from our normal savings and this will be a holiday fund.

KungFuBustle Wed 20-Nov-13 09:38:57

That's awesome GetOrf. Have you any destinations picked or will you choose when the pot it full?

Cantabile Wed 20-Nov-13 09:40:03

Wow, Getorf, what a holiday that will be! Fantastic! You have inspired me to go off and do the calculations myself now, hmmmmm 40-50 a day down to 15........

Tiredmumno1 Wed 20-Nov-13 09:47:15

That's great GetOrf, well done to you both. A holiday to celebrate such a big achievement is great smile.

Thanks for clearing that up plenty, it can get so confusing grin.

Cantabile Wed 20-Nov-13 09:49:17

1225 cigarettes not smoked. Over 500 quid saved. Just over a month. Speechless.

Tiredmumno1 Wed 20-Nov-13 09:55:09

Fantastic news Cantabile, well done smile

KungFuBustle Wed 20-Nov-13 09:56:36

You going to treat yourself Cant? That's a hell of a saving.

Did anyone else feel like the only smoker on Mumsnet? I used to never mention it as I was so ashamed.

magimedi Wed 20-Nov-13 10:21:54

Thanks for the info, Plenty. I use ecigwizard, wizard mix liquid which is 70%PG & 30%VG. Am very happy with it.

Well done on the savings - that's going to be some holiday GetOrf!

DP and I always really lied to ourselves about how much we smoked. We used to buy packs of tens to kid ourselves. And we smoked benson and hedges as well so not exactly cheap. And usually bought them from Tesco express so they were more expensive anyway.

So to actually be honest with ourselves and calcuate that it was more than our bloody MORTGAGE was shocking.

We are going to egypt anyway in october so it can go towards that, but DP has always wanted to America, and I have always wanted to go to Nashville and Dollywood (!) So we might go there in summer.

Or replace the windows in the house and replace the driveway if we are sensible.

Cantabile Wed 20-Nov-13 14:48:06

I can't think of anything to spend my savings on! Except Xmas. So I think I'll just keep saving it and see what happens! If there's a sudden opportunity to do something splendid then I'll be ready grin

Cantabile and Getorf that is amazing! flowers

I've done 49 days and avoided 735 fags. Unfortunately I used to smoke roll-ups so have only saved £84 so far and have spent twice that on shiny vape gear. I think now I've stopped buying things, I'll save up to get my teeth done. Smoking has left them in a dreadful state.

Kungfu - Did anyone else feel like the only smoker on Mumsnet? I used to never mention it as I was so ashamed.

Yes! blush

I'm curious to know what nicotine strength people are using. I'm on 18mg during the day and 12mg during the evening. I'm thinking of getting some 24mg to see if I can cut down the amount of time I spend vaping.

This evening's mystery FastTech Dekang flavour (I've still got quite a few of these to go grin) is LiQun. It's actually not bad as these Chinese tobacco flavours go. Less perfumey than others I have tried (although there's still a hint of something unidentifiable and pungent in the background). It doesn't have as much throat hit as others I have tried though. I prefer China/Chinese tobacco but will probably vape through the bottle at some point. Worth £1.09 I think smile

FunnysInLaJardin Wed 20-Nov-13 22:27:13

the very best thing about vaping at the mo btw is not having to shiver my arse off in the garden having a fag. It is vile out there with force 7 gales again and I am vaping in the kitchen. Lovely!

magimedi Wed 20-Nov-13 22:54:36

It's just lovely to be able to indulge inside!!

But a force 7 where you are, Funnys makes me feel all homesick.

There is a long time that I have not been there. (By cri) grin

goodasitgets Wed 20-Nov-13 23:19:50

Can anyone more experienced help me?!
I have a tornado tank (which is ok...) but I used a cinnamon flavour in it and now it still tastes sort of cinnamon. Also need some replacement liquid holder thingies (they are just like a clip on tank, don't have wadding in them)
I've cleaned it, put a new tobacco liquid in a fresh tank thing and still cinnamon taste sad
Is it worth ordering some new tank things and some different liquid or is it broken?

KungFuBustle Thu 21-Nov-13 01:11:35

I was told to use a new tank for each flavour good.

I have a late night problem, DH has just vaped and it tasted burnt. No change other then a newly charged battery. Battery doesn't smell burnt is emitting no odour itself. We got the Vape last Saturday so not been used long. He vapes less then me so he's not been hammering. Flavour is cappuccino for reference.

goodasitgets Thu 21-Nov-13 08:31:37

Yeah it's a brand new tank - not sure what's going on!

KungFu it sounds like a problem with the wick or coil. If there is not enough liquid reaching the coil it will burn. Is the cappuccino liquid quite thick or dark? Sometimes that can gunk things up a bit and stop fresh liquid getting through.

What sort of atomiser is it? You might be able to clean it or replace the coil head.

FunnysInLaJardin Thu 21-Nov-13 10:29:28

By cri indeed Magi grin. I hate the gales we get, they come straight off the sea and blow my pot plants around the garden. But there is something very nautical about them and you certainly feel like you are living on the edge of the world!

MaggieMcGill Thu 21-Nov-13 11:25:58

Wow! lots of posts since I last checked in. Will take me a while to catch up.

I think I've come to the conclusion that my FT order is just not coming. No fault of theirs, I completely blame myself for giving them my work address along with my home postcode confused although the local sorting office did say that shouldn't be a problem and they would just deliver it to the main address.

On the up side I discovered yesterday that a new vape shop is opening just around the corner from work. I can see me wasting a few of my lunch hours in there grin

Plenty I love my new Protank thanks It has hardly been out my mouth although it may not have been a good idea to leave it in the car last night whilst I was at the gym. The metal tip was bloody freezing. How are you getting on with the clearo, any good?

Hey Maggie! grin

Do you have a tracking number for your FT order? If so, try it on 17track, you might be able to find out what's happened to it. Also, do put in a support ticket with FT. The parcel should get returned to them if they can't deliver it and you should get a refund or they'll send it again.

Glad you're enjoying the protank smile I really like the i-clear, I'm vaping it now. It's quite a hard suck tight draw but it's a lovely flavour, no gurgling and Big Clouds Of Vapour grin

MaggieMcGill Fri 22-Nov-13 10:11:02

Phew! Thanks Plenty. I thought I had killed the thread blushgrin

I do have a tracking number but nothing has shown since it was dispatched to overseas on the 8th Nov. I raised a ticket when I realised about the post code being wrong and I must say I've been very impressed with their customer service. They have been in touch a few times and will resend the parcel if it is sent back to them.

Can someone help me please?
My new clearomizers have just arrived in the post and the first one I tried wasn't producing any vapour, battery is fully charged but when I press the button there's no hissing sound that you normally get confused

I've tried a different clearomizer and it works fine. Can I fix the one that isn't vaping? I really don't want to throw it away.

MaggieMcGill Fri 22-Nov-13 11:07:25

Hi Stitch, what kind are they? Have you tried turning the pin/screw thing at the bottom to give a better connection to the battery? Just a half turn or so might help.

Hi Maggie, thanks for replying smile
These are the ones I'm using.
I've not tried turning the screw, wouldn't know what to do tbh, I'm fairly new to all this grin

waikikamookau Fri 22-Nov-13 11:17:40

hav eyou pressed it 5 times to turn it on?

Yes, it works fine with another clearomizer, just the first one out of a new pack didn't work.

MaggieMcGill Fri 22-Nov-13 11:22:44

Me too smile If you turn it upside down there should be a wee pin thing that makes contact with the battery, try twisting it a little (anticlockwise I think) Also give your liquid a few minutes to absorb into the wick.

magimedi Fri 22-Nov-13 13:18:17

Maggie that's a wonderful bit of knowledge to have - it's made my new tank work with a certain battery.

Going back to Kungfu's weird tast wewith new clearo I wonder if this is the answer:

I filled & started using a new cleaned clearo last night & it didn't taste quite right (I always use the same liquid).

DH used to smoke a pipe (many years ago) & is fascinated by vaping - he said that when he used to give his pipes a good clean they never tasted quite right until he's smoked a couple of bowlfuls. I wonder if a little coating makes things taste better?

Cantabile Fri 22-Nov-13 13:28:08

TBH, I find my clearo just adds a taste of plastic to my vaping, so I don't use it.

Does anyone have any thoughts on Intellicigs? They're for sale in our local newsagent, and some people have asked me about them. I saw on the web that you can get liquid for them too, but it looks a bit expensive. I don't actually understand their pricing.

Wonderwhy123 Fri 22-Nov-13 14:09:34

I've done almost 8 weeks now vaping. Just worked out the figures, I would have spent £222 by now on cigarettes and have spent £118.75 on vaping products means a saving of £103.25 by not smoking.

I've just bought a new battery, 7 cartomisers and have plenty of liquids to keep me going before I need to spend anymore.

I'm not saving for anything in particular but I have managed to save some money each month that I never seemed to manage before.

I found a video on you tube about what to do if they start tasting burnt or bubbling. It said to turn it off and suck hard 3 times. It does seem to work for a short time solution until you can get a new tank.

MaggieMcGill Fri 22-Nov-13 18:55:07

Well done Wonderwhy I'm nearly 8 weeks too. I can't believe it to be honest. How have you found it?

Magi Glad it worked for you smile How did you enjoy your bottle of bubbly to celebrate your big 1 year achievement? I hope you didn't celebrate with a fag too grin

I've been having a clear out and if anyone wants these then please pm me your address. I'm thinking they would be good for the people struggling with the strong throat hit as they can be mixed to your preferred strength. I much prefer my sweet fruity flavours now. All the bottles are nearly full and were bought recently.

From joose juice
18 mg cappuccino
6 mg mocha
18mg caramel tobacco
6mg caramel tobacco

From vaping vision
6mg piña colada

nbee84 Fri 22-Nov-13 19:10:23

I have been a non smoker for 9 months today grin I have saved £1,556 on not buying cigarettes. I haven't kept a tally on what I've spent on vaping but I don't think it can be any more than £400 - £500. I haven't noticed the extra thousand in my pocket but my dh suffered ill health late last year, spent 3 months not working (one of the reasons I gave up smoking) and has changed jobs this year and is earning a fair bit less than he used to but we have still managed to keep on top of the bills smile

I've also just managed to lose 2½ stone and am at target weight. Whenever I have given up smoking before I have always put on weight!

MaggieMcGill Fri 22-Nov-13 19:36:38

Congratulations nbee grin and well done on the weight loss (how did you do the half thing). Have you been vaping sweet flavours?

magimedi Fri 22-Nov-13 19:45:36

nbee - well done!

I have also managed to lose 10lbs in the last few months (could do with doubling that).

Maggie - I really enjoyed my bottle of fizz. Think I'll have to have another one on 31/12/13 to celebrate my first whole calendar year of not smoking! (In addition to any NYE wine )

Honestly, for me, it's the only time in my long life that I have disproved the myth of 'you can't have your cake and eat it'.

I have reached the stage now that I am surprised when I see people smoking - I want to go up to them & tell them that they can save loads of £££, be healthier & feel guilt free!

Cantabile Fri 22-Nov-13 19:51:03

Congrats, nbee cake

Maggie, I'd love to try the caramel tobacco (18mg), if that's OK.

Sadly I have no spares except for Twisted Java and the other one whose name I've forgotten, which no one seems to want. However, they are here and I will happily send them on to anyone who wants an experience.... grin

Magimedi, Congrats, and on losing weight as well!

nbee84 Fri 22-Nov-13 20:05:14

Thanks all - I really do feel that I will never smoke a cigarette again.

Maggie - to do the ½ you hold down Alt and press 171 on the number keypad. I've no idea how you do it on an ipad or a keyboard with no number pad grin

Evening all!

wonderwhy and nbee well done! flowers Those are really impressive savings too. I wish I didn't used to smoke cheapy roll-ups. I think I'm due to break even in february if I stop spending now blush

Cantabile I haven't tried intellicigs but from what I've read they're not bad for cig-alikes. They're still very expensive and have a poor battery life compared with ego batteries though.

If anybody's after a really tiny kit and they're not bothered about it looking like a fag, a lot of people recommend this.

I will shortly have a selection of Dekang 16mg 10ml liquids to pass on. I bought quite a few strange flavours while drunk and I'm trying them all before I decide which ones to keep. Tonight's mystery flavour is SuYan and it's a keeper smile It's a good solid tobacco flavour and is a nice change from RY4 that I've been vaping all day. If anyone likes tobacco flavours but finds the western blends a bit sweet, it's worth looking at the chinese flavours, although some of them are horrible. I'm going to have to go back and find all these dekang reviews I've been doing or I'll forget which is which. This is my favourite so far.

MaggieMcGill Fri 22-Nov-13 21:14:55

Cantabile, pm me your address and I'll send it to you but please, for the love of god. DO NOT SEND ME THE TWISTED JAVA!

Oh go on Maggie you know you want to grin

I'm sure somebody out there will love it. It's quite a posh one and has some good reviews.

Cantabile Fri 22-Nov-13 21:39:58

Oh Maggie, you may be the ONE it was made for.... You'll never know until you try. And fair exchange is no robbery!

Thank you, I'll pm you now. I feel a bit bad grabbing all the the spare liquids.

But not that bad blush

FunnysInLaJardin Fri 22-Nov-13 21:54:03

well I haven't smoked for ages, at least 7 days and before that only about 2. So I am now a vaper and loving my vision spinner with carto's filled with silver and gold or caramel. Thats me converted after nearly 30 (fucking hell) years addicted to fags

FunnysInLaJardin Fri 22-Nov-13 21:54:59

btw just counted back and realised that at 42 I started smoking aged 12 shock

Wonderwhy123 Fri 22-Nov-13 22:18:50

Maggie, I've found it surprisingly easy. I had a few sneaky cigarettes the first two weeks to finish the last of the packet. The last one I smoked I couldn't finish it because it tasted so disgusting. Since then i haven't wanted a cigarette once. How have you found it?

I gave up last year for 3 months using a cig a like and wanted a cigarette constantly. I didn't get a good enough throat hit from them I don't think.

I have a 10ml bottle of bubblegum with about 1/3 in if anyone wants it? I hate it and have been forcing myself to use it. If someone else used it I wouldn't get the guilt for wasting it.

Cantabile Sat 23-Nov-13 10:27:17

If you mix it with tobacco flavour it will just add a soupcon of sweetness to that. It will help you get rid of it if you have no takers.

MaggieMcGill Sat 23-Nov-13 12:11:30

Wonderwhy Yeah, me too. I tried everything from that Allan Carr book to Champix but never managed to stay stopped and I always seemed to get to the weekend and have a sneaky few. I stopped on the 2nd October, I had a blip a few weeks in when I went to the pub then I had a fag a few weeks ago because I wanted to see if I liked it (unfortunaly I still did) but that's been it. I'm really quite proud of myself grin

FunnysInLaJardin well done! That's brilliant flowers

Maggie that's one of the things I like best about vaping. I know that even if the worst happened - all my kit failed on a boozy night out and I ended up having a fag or three - I would go straight back to vaping the next day and not do the walk of shame to the nearest tobacconists.

Tonight's Dekang flavour is HuangHeLou which I think is nicer than last night's one. Good dry tobacco flavour, no nasty pongy overtones. Very good throat hit for 16mg. I might actually prefer this to RY4, the test will come in the morning. I think this might be the last of the dekang tobacco flavours I have to test, I still have quite a few non-tobacco flavours to go smile

What are other people vaping? I'm currently on RY4 with a splosh of RY6 during the day, something strange that I ordered from fasttech in the early evening and then cinnamon apple and vanilla after dinner.

MaggieMcGill Sun 24-Nov-13 20:16:19

Where has everyone went?

Plenty that is exactly how I feel too. I don't want to beat myself up too much if I have a fag because I know I won't keep smoking but I just do not honestly want one anymore. I'm going away with two smokers in January for my birthday so that will be interesting but I'm not that bothered if I smoke. I know when I get back I'll go back to vaping. I prefer it.

Actually, once again I have been fannying about with batteries. It seems that my new one takes a lot longer to charge than the old ones work. I have spent most of today going around the house changing batteries. Hopefully my FT order will be sitting on my desk tomorrow wishfull thinking

QueenStromba Mon 25-Nov-13 00:10:16

Has anyone received anything from FT lately - just wondering how long the postage times are.

MaggieMcGill Mon 25-Nov-13 10:46:59

Woo Hoo!grin My Fasttech order is here dances round the office

Cantibile, your caramel liquid is in the post. Hopefully you'll get it tomorrow. My neighbour took the other liquid but wasn't very impressed with the coffee flavours.

WTFlike Mon 25-Nov-13 18:15:57

I'm in Ireland and have been buying 100ml liquids for €13.99. I was having a look at UK sites and can't see anything for a similar price, so thought I'd share the link - the postage to UK seems very reasonable and I've had great service from them.

They do smaller bottles so you could try flavours first.!/cat1274300_1558093.aspx

I use this B&H type one, it's strong and has a nice throat hit.

WTFlike Mon 25-Nov-13 18:16:49
Gorja Mon 25-Nov-13 18:42:30

I have an evape kit that came with two of the bits you put the liquids in. I dropped one of them and the bit you put liquid in broke and leaked so I bought some new ones on ebay but they don't seem as good and after only a few tries they taste burnt if that makes sense???
What have I done wrong?? I am getting very confused looking at all the different sites. What I want is a few of the bits you put the liquid in so I can change flavour as I get bored..... Short attention and taste span I think.

Can anybody help

Yay Maggie! Woohoo! What did you get?

Queen, I had an order that arrived a couple of weeks ago, that took 22 days from being marked as 'shipped'. That went via the Black Hole of Hong Kong Post though, and they've just stopped using them.

I have another order which I hope will ship tomorrow - one item is holding it up - that's due to go via Singapore post so no idea how long that will take. Fingers crossed!

Gorja - which kit did you get? Do you have a link for what you've bought? If you want a few cheapy things for trying lots of flavours I can recommend gs-h2 clearos. There are lots on ebay and they are really cheap.

Cantabile Mon 25-Nov-13 21:59:38

Thank you Maggie!

WTF, thanks for that link. My brother has given up on the Skycigs as the batteries last about 4 hours and he gets through at least 2 cartos (?) a day, so I think I'll get him a big bottle of liquid to go with the Vgo2 that he's just ordered!

magimedi Mon 25-Nov-13 22:17:02

Sky cigs are not very good - I gave up smoking with them & was then getting through a minimum of 3 cartos a day. V. expensive - am so glad I moved to vaping.

WTFlike Tue 26-Nov-13 00:45:30

I used one like a Sky cig when I first started. If you prise off the top 'lid' you can refill them. I used a nail scissors to get it off. Then re-used them for months, but agree the batteries are crap.

I'm using one of the cheap CE4's now and the charge lasts the day.

Can I draw all vapers' attention to the new proposed EU regulation of ecigs. What is being proposed is effectively an outright ban.

From Clive Bates' blog ...

Late last week the European Commission circulated a confidential new proposal for regulating e-cigarettes. The document was sent only to those negotiating the future of e-cigarettes behind closed doors in Brussels – representatives of the European Parliament and European Council. This isn’t a final proposal, but it provides the negotiators with something to discuss. The Nicotine Science and Policy website has obtained the document, and it is here. It is quite frankly appalling – lacking any legitimacy in public health or internal market policy-making… Make no mistake, if implemented this proposal bans every product on the market today and would severely limit options for future products - and may make it commercially unviable to develop in future.

Please visit the blog on the link above for further details of the proposals and what you can do to help prevent them becoming law.

KungFuBustle Tue 26-Nov-13 09:42:30

Will be looking at that blog and seeing what we can do Plenty. Ty for the link.

I've managed to drop from the 24 strength to the 16. Very pleased. I enjoy vaping but I'm going hours without, never managed that on fags. Going to get some nic free stuff with a view to coming off completely. I've got a friend about to try too.

Makes me cross that they're trying to take this away when for some it's the best and dare I say only way they can get off the fags. Love how they'll move to regulate vaping so tightly we can't do it, but we an buy cigarettes and have as many of them as we want!

On a personal note, my lord I'm looking good. Skin and eyes are bright and clear. I actually look a fair bit younger, wish I'd took before and after pics. I had blackheads and bags under my eyes. I used good scrubs, neutrogina etc, no need anymore.

QueenStromba Tue 26-Nov-13 09:49:43

They really are a bargain WTF. I'll be buying my nicotine from them once my big bottle runs out.

Have you been leaving the clearos for ten minutes to soak the liquid in before you use them the first time Gorja?

QueenStromba Tue 26-Nov-13 09:51:55

Actually, reading about the EU proposals maybe I should buy some now.

Jux Tue 26-Nov-13 11:26:08

Draconian, prescriptive, illogical, and foolish. Hypocritical. I am drafting a response to those proposals! Any other words you think appropriate (which I could actually include, that is!)?

Ooh ooh - intolerant.

QueenStromba Tue 26-Nov-13 11:37:58

OneStepCloserIWillExterminate Tue 26-Nov-13 11:38:27

Right am sitting here tapping my fingers waiting for the postman to deliver my vape. After reading these threads I have been persuaded to try grin

Will report back once I`m up and running.

KungFuBustle Tue 26-Nov-13 11:44:03

Good luck Onestep.

QueenStromba Tue 26-Nov-13 13:15:38

Sweet - I just won 5 GS-H2s for £3.80!

Jux Tue 26-Nov-13 15:55:02

That's a good one, Queen. I'll work it in....

Jux Tue 26-Nov-13 17:18:34

Infantilising, unenlightened.

Jux Tue 26-Nov-13 18:33:23 This is interesting. It is a letter from the BMA and a suggested reply to them. It is more concerned with licensing e-cigs as medicines, a battle already won, but the 'reply' has a lot of facts which are relevant to the new EU proposals.

(I appear to be writing a Parliamentary Briefing at the moment!)

waikikamookau Tue 26-Nov-13 19:01:51

why is my clearomiser, cartomister, whats it called, filling up withsteam when I vape?

Jux, make sure to mention that people will die! I'm going to sit down and do my letters tomorrow.

waiki, are you sure you're sucking not blowing? grin

Onestep, good luck!

ginmakesitallok Tue 26-Nov-13 21:17:22

Clearos will often fill up with condensation. Shove a bit of tissue down the mouthpiece to clear it.

Jux Tue 26-Nov-13 22:39:43

Plenty, I'm a bit scared about saying that. I am worried about bringing in the whole health benefits thing. Making health claims for them pushes in that direction, if we're not careful how we phrase it. I'm probably being over-cautious. I don't know much about the workings of Brussels.

I will bring it in though, as it is such an obvious benefit to users, and could significantly affect the burden on the NHS, as well as on (especially, small) businesses, who lose more money as we are always being told smokers take more sick days, lose time having fag breaks etc. Personally, I think smokers tend to be more sociable at work as they congregate in the smoking room - now outdoors - and chat together, without recourse to status. I always thought that was a better way to grease the wheels within a company and get people working together from all departments, regardless of hierarchy. There were many of us who would nip into the smoking room for a quick chat....

At the moment I am reading tons of stuff and making copious notes.

Cantabile Wed 27-Nov-13 10:08:32

Maggie, the liquid arrived this morning! Thank you so much thanks It is quite rich, so I mixed a couple of drops with apple, which has given my vape a really nice depth of flavour (as they say on Masterchef!). It's very nice, I could really get used to it! I'm going to try it with the grapefruit later, too.

Those EU idiots. I wonder what their real agenda is? Smokers contribute 10 billion to the UK economy via taxes. I suspect that there are huge fears of that figure dropping considerably. If they class ecigs/their paraphernalia as tobacco products, then they can slap huge taxes on them like they do with fags etc. If they restrict people to using the most expensive and least effective ecigs, then they're laughing.

RiffyWammal Thu 28-Nov-13 12:53:47

Apologies if this has been mentioned, as I haven't RT whole FT, but does anyone else get mouth ulcers from vaping? I am a vaping evangelist and just love it, but as with everything I enjoy, I think I do it excessively blush, I don't have my first vape til the evening but then I almost constantly puff on it, and I like blowing it first then inhaling as this gives a really satisfying strong cloud of vapour, keeping the button pressed before I inhale and taking really deep drags. I just can't seem to do anything in moderation! I stopped smoking with inhalators some years ago and I became hopelessly addicted to them too and used to suffer awful hiccups and indigestion.

The ridiculous thing is, the liquid I use (LiKing Tobacco flavour) does not even contain nicotine so I don't know what I'm addicted to!

Does anyone else get mouth ulcers? Is this flavour likely to be the problem, and should I change to another? I wasn't sure if it was the vaping at first because I am also addicted to eating mints obsessively in bed (so many ishooos with oral fixation, obviously blush) and I thought it might be these causing the ulcers, but Google suggests it is vaping causing the problem.

QueenStromba Thu 28-Nov-13 16:03:27

No mouth ulcers here. Are you run down? I get mouth ulcers if I've not been getting enough sleep/eating well.

QueenStromba Thu 28-Nov-13 16:29:36

And I'm a chain vaper.

Jux Thu 28-Nov-13 17:43:03

I've become pretty much a chain vaper too, morning to night. I don't have mouth ulcers either. Which liquid are you using exactly?

Evening all smile

I've had a grotty cold so haven't been trying any of my daft flavours for a few days. Tonight I am trying the last of the chinese tobacco flavours which is Dekang Furong 16mg. It appears to be a substitution for LotusKing which I should have got in my fasttech order. I can't see Dekang Furong on the fasttech site but there is a Hangsen version here. Anyway, it's not as bad as some, but it has an odd note of wet washing on the exhale. I'll probably vape it at some point but it's going to the back of the box. I have some even dafter flavours to try next but I think some of them might be tank-crackers so I need to sort out my dripping atomiser which I'm a bit scared of

I'd love to know what flavours other people are trying and what they're like especially if they're really cheap

Riffy, it might be worth trying a VG based liquid. Joose Juice do liquid in a 30/70 mix and are cheap. You can get 100% VG but I'm not sure where from - worth a google.

Is it possible you are getting splashes of liquid in your mouth? That can cause ulcers, although it's unlikely I would have thought if you're using 0% nic. Make sure you're drinking plenty as vaping can be a bit dehydrating and multivitamins probably wouldn't hurt, whatever is causing it.

KeepingUpWithTheJonses Thu 28-Nov-13 21:54:44

Have you recently stopped smoking Riffy? As in, cigarettes.

A side effect of quitting is mouth ulcers and bleeding gums.

So, the EU thing ...

I still haven't quite got my thoughts in order for my letter (been working stupid hours this week) and need to get a move on. What I think is happening is -

- MHRA wanted e-cigs regulated as medicines
- EU parliament said don't be silly, but some regulation is sensible
- it's now at the 'trilogue' stage where various unelected bodies discuss amendments
- a confidential proposal (the starting point for these discussions) has been leaked which is more restrictive than the original 'regulate as medicine' proposal
- the tobacco products directive meet again on 3rd December so it's wise to get correspondence in before then - NOT LONG!

For those who have no sense of urgency, this is what we stand to lose:

- Allows only single-use cartridges. No refillable units or tanks will be permitted and so the most effective devices will be removed from the market.

- Allows only flavours already approved for use in NRT. Hands control to pharma companies and against the view of the Parliament that recognised the importance of flavours.

- Limits nicotine density to 20mg/ml maximum with no justification, cutting out the stronger liquids that appeal more to heavily addicted smokers and those just switching

- Limits nicotine content of any container to just 10mg/unit – this is extremely low and arbitrary (see new paper on lethal doses for nicotine) and makes no sense

- Allows only devices that “deliver nicotine doses consistently and uniformly” – a completely unnecessary, severe and limiting technical challenge derived from medicines regulation – unlike with medicines, e-cigarette users control the dose.

- Bans advertising in press or printed publications (except trade), on radio, TV and other audiovisual services and the internet (through “information society services“) – this just protects incumbents (tobacco industry) and those who can rely on established distribution channels (tobacco industry)

- Bans e-cigarette sponsorships that have cross border impact (e.g. anything that might be shown on TV) – reduces competitiveness of disruptive technology

- Applies onerous and unnecessary warning, labelling and leaflet requirements that may be impractical and are disproportionate to risk deterring smokers who may wish to switch

- Bans cross border distance sales (internet etc) in clear contravention of the aims of the internal market

- Requires manufacturers to track so-called ‘adverse effects’ even though nicotine is widely used and understood

- Requires the submission of large quantities of seemingly irrelevant technical and commercial data despite recent high level commitments to reduce red tape

- Asserts (against the evidence) that e-cigarettes “simulate smoking behaviour and are increasingly used and marketed to young people and non-smokers” continuing the European tradition of smearing valuable harm-reduction option, notably snus, to the detriment of health in Europe.

Basically, if this becomes law the only thing on the market will be somewhat shitter and more expensive than the worst cig-alike out there, oh and MNHQ would probably have to delete this thread for illegally promoting e cigs angry

RiffyWammal Thu 28-Nov-13 22:49:17

This is the liquid I use.

I stopped smoking weeks before I started on the e-cigs. But I must have been run down, because today I have developed some horrible lurgy sad

I do get the liquid in my mouth as well sometimes, I'm not sure why this happens. Those look interesting Plenty, thanks!

Riffy I think stopping smoking is quite hard on the body. My hair has turned into a greasy mess and my skin is not great at the moment. I'm also getting bleeding gums from time to time. This is actually a good sign - it means the circulation to my gums has improved and my gum disease (which I knew I had) will be more treatable.

I've also got chapped lips but I think I get that most years once the heating goes on.

There's a link here to a petition against the proposed EU ban. This is a short-term petition, it's being handed in on Monday so if you want to sign, do it quick!

I'm not entirely sure of the rules on posting links to petitions, this might get deleted so I'll cross-post to the petitions board as well.

Cantabile Fri 29-Nov-13 21:44:15

That looks like a good list, Plenty. I'll try and get a letter together too. Have signed the petition.

My lips are chapped. They always are at the change of season, but have been really bad. Seem to be getting a bit better now.

magimedi Fri 29-Nov-13 22:50:24

Have sent letter. Have signed petition.

Cantabile - I suffered really badly from chapped lips - always have done, n'owt to do with vaping .

I now use Lanolips (Boots sell it) It's expensive, but a small tube (£9) lasts me 18 months & I no longer have torn, bleeding lips.

Cantabile Sat 30-Nov-13 00:20:27

Thanks for that. I use aloe vera lipsalve (William Ransom & Son). It's fine and it works. My lips were far more chapped this time than they usually are, but you're probably right, nothing to do with vaping.

magimedi Sat 30-Nov-13 13:43:02

Totally silly but I have just discovered that I can do really good smoke rings when vaping! Could never do them with rollies. grin

ilovesooty Sat 30-Nov-13 16:28:37

Petition signed and shared on Twitter. Well over 7000 signaturesnow.

MaggieMcGill Sat 30-Nov-13 16:56:38

Cantabile I'm glad it arrived, hope you're enjoying it.

Plenty how's your cold? Mine really messed with my taste buds. I just couldn't find a liquid that I enjoyed. My FT order was just a new ego twist vv battery, another ego 900 (don't know why I bought that because after trying the vv I doubt I'll use it but it'll be good as a back up) and a few extra clearos. I've put another order in grin another battery and coil heads for the protank. I hope I've ordered the right ones.

I've signed the petition and another one on a vaping forum. The new vape shop in town looks ready to open, I'm thinking Monday. I'm very excited but also a little scared because i know i'll be popping in a lot grin It would be such a shame if it were to close down because of this stupid EU ban. It's had a total refit and it's looking great.

Not bad now, thanks Maggie. I was wishing I'd got round to buying some menthol though, or that 'choonz' liquid. I wonder if it really does taste like blackcurrant tunes?

I'm using medicated chapstick on my lips, it's working but I hate the feeling of it and DH keeps making juvenile jokes about the name.

Big thanks to all who have written letters and signed the petition so far flowers I just looked and it's got 8300 signatures already!

I wish I understood more about EU process confused

Cantabile Sat 30-Nov-13 23:09:47

Glad you're feeling a bit better now, Plenty.

Maggie, yes, the caramel's nice, a few drops added to another flavour gives a richness and roundness which the original flavour doesn't have. I can't find where I've put my grapefruit bottle, so I haven't tried it with that yet.

My friend and her dp have just bought Ego Cs after seeing mine, and I have given them the Twisted Java - they quite liked it! There was bound to be someone!

ilovesooty Sun 01-Dec-13 02:36:06

I found menthol to be great with a cold. It really cleared my air passages!

MaggieMcGill Sun 01-Dec-13 09:49:09

Hahaha! Cantabile That's nasty! grin

The Twisted Java has found a home? Fucking hell! shockenvygrin

Cantabile Sun 01-Dec-13 12:35:04

Honest Guv! She said she liked it!

Cantabile Sun 01-Dec-13 12:36:16

Sooty, I think I'll order some menthol as the season for colds is upon us.

Evening all, how's everyone getting on?

I've now done 2 months without smoking! I have avoided 915 fags and have saved £104.80 not saying how much I have spent though Go me! grin

The future of ecigs in Europe is being discussed tomorrow so if you haven't already, please visit this thread on the petitions board and help us make lots of noise flowers

magimedi Mon 02-Dec-13 19:21:24

Am still a happy bunny - nearly 14 months without a fag.

I love vaping.

And I have signed every petition I can find.

And written to my MP.

I do remember reading, a couple of months ago, that there was some reserve in the UK government about outlawing it as there are now a significant number of jobs tied up in the industry.

Ah brilliant magi, well done.

Yes lots of jobs would go. I don't understand why I keep reading things about big tobacco companies pushing ecigs when, if you look around the market, it's clearly mostly small businesses.

magimedi Mon 02-Dec-13 22:15:19

I don't think the big boys are pushing them so much as buying into them for the future. One of the biggies (British American Tobacco, I think?) bought Sky cigs a month or so ago. I am quite sure they are well ready for the e cig revolution.

Jux Tue 03-Dec-13 09:15:27

Letters to MP, MEP etc went on Saturday; petitions signed.

Fingers crossed today.

LucyLasticKnickers Tue 03-Dec-13 09:20:39

shoudl i consider myself a non smoker? i vape, havent had a cig since some time in september,
dont know exact date unfortuantley.

Yay Lucy, well done! flowers Yes, you are a non-smoker smile

Nearly 17,000 signatures so far and still growing rapidly.

In other news, I've just had a letter inviting me to a stop smoking clinic at my Dr's surgery. I'm looking forward to replying to this smile

magimedi Tue 03-Dec-13 09:52:02

Lucy - you certainly ar a non smoker.

Plenty - I wonder what your Dr's take is on ecigs??

LucyLasticKnickers Tue 03-Dec-13 10:40:00

oh that is exciting plenty, about the doctors letter. i was thinking the same about my dentist's questionnaire.

LucyLasticKnickers Tue 03-Dec-13 10:40:26

Also, I wonder if insurance companies need to know?>?

magimedi Tue 03-Dec-13 12:13:33

I think you have to have been a non smoker for a minimum of a year for insurance companies to recognise it.

Cantabile Tue 03-Dec-13 17:58:24

Maggie, you have saved my grapefruit! The caramel makes it very palatable; I was vaping it most of the day yesterday, even though I didn't have to!

MaggieMcGill Wed 04-Dec-13 21:28:28

grin at saving your grapefruit. I've heard of saving someone's bacon before but not grapefruit. I'm glad you have found some use for it.

My new shop opened. It's doing 10ml bottles for £4.95 or 3 for £11.95. I bought a red bull, strawberry and apple pie. I tried the red bull in the shop but not too keen on it now. They only sell 0, 18 and 24mg so I bought the 18 which is stronger than i've been using but from what I've tried so far I wouldn't say it is any better than the joose juice which is much cheaper. They opened on Satarday and Seeminly had a very good day, lots of customers.

QueenStromba Sat 07-Dec-13 21:07:46

Gah! The lightbulbs I ordered from FT that shipped on the 25th are here but the vaping supplies that shipped on the 8th aren't.

You ordered lightbulbs? I didn't think anyone actually ordered those grin Are they any good?

Hope your vaping gear arrives soon.

QueenStromba Sun 08-Dec-13 11:21:42

Yeah, nice bright warm white 3W LEDs for less than £2 each - bargainous! We have eleventy million spotlights in the flat that were just eating energy.

magimedi Sun 08-Dec-13 11:33:10

For a moment I thought 'lightbulbs' was a nickname for some new & advanced vaping equipment.

Shouldn't have got up before my brain did. grin

LambinsideaDuckinsideaTrout Sun 08-Dec-13 12:17:20

I have just ordered 2 of these -

One for me and one for DH for xmas.

Anyone used them before? What do you think of them?

Cantabile Sun 08-Dec-13 13:02:51

Lambinside, I got a VV Tornado C. It's great. The tank is quite small so you get through it quickly - which is great when you're trying new flavours. It's big. Shocked me when I first opened it! Also, I wasn't enormously happy about using a button but within a day I was used to it. The manuals use less battery so you don't have to charge them so often as automatics. I quickly got a spare battery though!

I then got this which has become my favourite.

They all work better if you clean them every few days - preferably every day.

I carry all my bits around - including a couple of bottles of liquid - in a ds case.

Good luck with it.

Cantabile Sun 08-Dec-13 13:06:12

I have a question! When it comes to dry burning, should you do it with the ecigs I've got (specified above) or not?

For some reason I tried it the other day, but I think I may have melted something! Everything tastes a bit, funny?, now sad

QueenStromba Sun 08-Dec-13 18:45:46

I've asked DP for this as my Christmas present.

Hi Cantabile, I don't know about the Tornado but I have had similar issues with a burnt taste remaining after dry burning a bottom coil clearo. It might be that you haven't dry burnt enough, so you have burnt material still on the coil. I now do it until I can't smell any of the burnt smell at all - several more pulses than to make the coil glow evenly. The other thing I do is to soak the coil in vodka after burning. This gets rid of any lingering smell. I don't know if you can do this with your system though.

I found this maintenance guide ... any use?

I want one of those Queen grin I'm looking at this one - £10 more expensive but a bit less of a lottery than FT. Are you hoping to have yours by Christmas?

QueenStromba Sun 08-Dec-13 20:35:23

Not the end of the world if it's a bit late.

I wonder if FT has a january sale? grin

I've been a bit put off ordering because there seem to be huge questions over shipping batteries and liquids. My latest order is all odds n sods - cases, atomisers etc. but I'd buy half the site if I could be reasonably sure of it getting here.

QueenStromba Sun 08-Dec-13 22:42:24

They reckon that most of the batteries are getting through now and that Singapore post are happy to take liquids so they're routing anything with liquids through them.

QueenStromba Mon 09-Dec-13 16:02:05

Sweet - my itaste is ordered. Decided to go for the iclear 30 rather than the 16s since I already have a couple of them and about a million other clearos.

I have:
3 Vivi Novas
3 GS-H5s
11 GS-H2s
2 iclear 16's with two more on order
Loads of CE4s that came in the paradise vape blister packs that I've long given up on because they're rubbish.

In my defence, I do have a load of different flavours and I got half of the GS-H2s and the GS-H5s really cheap from ebay. I highly recommend this seller - I won the GS-H5s on Saturday and they came today and my previous order came next day despite them probably making a quite a loss.

My fasttech order from nearly a month ago has turned up - I can confirm that the GS-H2 atomisers that I linked to before do work. The tracked airmail shipping option is definitely the way to go though since that was about twice as fast!

Haha I thought I was bad grin

Yes I've had things off that seller before and would also recommend.

How are you getting on with the GS-H5s? I've managed to crack two of mine. I don't think it's great design having the threads on the plastic - I think I screwed them together too tight. I'll try to be a bit gentler on the last surviving one. I also have some GS-H5Cs on order which should look a bit less clunky on an ego.

What's the vivi nova like? Do I want one? I know I want a davide mini for xmas.

Yay for vape mail!

QueenStromba Mon 09-Dec-13 18:37:57

At least I'm sorted for a while if the EU outlaws them! Does anyone know how the vote went?

The GS-H5s only came today and I can't decide what to put in them so they haven't been used yet - I fear you might be right about the plastic threads though.

I really like the vivi novas I bought from Liberty Flights. The one I bought from ebay seems to be a fake and the atomizers from ebay seemed to be fake too although they did work with my CE4s. I bought an atomizer from fasttech and that doesn't seem to work with my liberty flights ones either. I've found the LF ones great for lack of burnt taste and good for amount of vapour too.

If it wasn't for the fact that the LF atomisers are 2 quid each and last a week at my vaping rate then i'd probably stick with them.

QueenStromba Mon 09-Dec-13 18:45:07

Hmm. Just tried a GS-H5 and while the flavour etc is great, it makes a horrible whistling noise.

FunnysInLaJardin Tue 10-Dec-13 11:09:39

just marking my place. This seems to drop off my TIO on a regular basis. BTW my vision rebuildable clearo seems to have sprung a leak. Anyone know how to solve this?

MaggieMcGill Tue 10-Dec-13 13:08:27

Holy Moly! Queen that's an impressive list grin I've yet to get through a whole clearo. I must be doing something wrong with mine. I've been using the same 3 since I pretty much started 2 months ago. I'm expecting my new FT order to arrive this week. A new battery and some coil heads for my protank (which I love) smile

QueenStromba Tue 10-Dec-13 17:03:11

Vaping has turned into a bit of a hobby for me smile

I like to have loads of different flavours on the go so I do need quite a few clearos - I find if I vape too much of the same flavour I don't really taste it anymore. I did just have the vivi novas and the crappy CE4s for a while until people on here started recommending the GS-H2s and the iclear 16s. After buying a gazillion GSs I've decided that I much prefer the iclears - so much more vapour and less burnt taste than the GSs and the coils seem to be lasting much longer than the vivi novas. I'm hoping my itaste (which shipped today - woo!) will sort out the burnt taste and produce more vapour from the GSs since I love the design - lack of liquid dripping into your mouth and the ability to change the coil with a full tank are definite plusses.

I've changed my mind on the vivi nova since yesterday - they're not worth it at all. I did a dry burn on a coil that hadn't been cleaned before and it's producing a rubbish amount of vapour.

Jux Tue 10-Dec-13 17:30:16

Has anyone got a promo code for TECC? I am trying to replace dh's old batteries and they seem to be the only place that do them - 5 years old, I'm surprised there are any at all out there!

Also, anyone know the result of the EU vote?

QueenStromba Tue 10-Dec-13 17:49:36

Would it not be better to go for some newer batteries Jux?

Jux Tue 10-Dec-13 17:57:05

Probably, but dh resists change to the nth degree. The fact that these will have TECC's logo on green on them and are a slightly different colour will be something he won't be enormously happy about hmm. He's a bit of a nutter...... grin

If it wasn't for the fact that the LF atomisers are 2 quid each and last a week at my vaping rate then i'd probably stick with them.

£2 a WEEK shock grin (how much did you used to spend on smoking?) I know what you mean though, I'm trying to get to the point where the only things I have to buy are kanthal wire and liquid, and as soon as I can make space I'll be mixing my own liquid, for cost reasons as much as anything.

I like my iclear16, it's a lovely vape and as you say, Queen, loads of vapour, but it's gone a bit leaky and I need to sort it out. Not so keen on how fast it uses up liquid though and it's not rebuildable (see above for scroogy tendencies).

DH still loves his protank, I have a quick suck on it sometimes and I still don't like the drip tip so am very happy to have passed it on.

Jux, if I found batteries that lasted 5 years I'd get the same ones again too! Do you have a link?

Not sure where the EU is up to, I'll go and have a read this evening. The problem is it isn't a vote we're waiting on, it's the trilogue talks which are carried out in secret and don't seem to be very democratic at all.

I must be doing something wrong with mine.

Maggie it sounds like you're doing something right!

I dropped my ecig earlier and my clearo (gs-h2) now has two visible cracks in it. It also has a grotty fake evod coil which doesn't quite fit properly so the clearo screws together a bit wonky at the bottom. In spite of this, it's not leaking and is vaping fine confused

QueenStromba Tue 10-Dec-13 19:04:59

I was spending basically no money on smoking because I've still got half a kilo of tobacco that I bought when I was on holiday in Ibiza. But you're right, £2 a week on atomizers plus about 3 quid on liquid isn't much really. The iclear 16s are still a lot better though.

MaggieMcGill Tue 10-Dec-13 19:44:50

Hehe! I really wish I could show you all my drawer blush I think I have enough liquid to do me for the whole of next year. Why can't we post pics on here? Queen I get that too, not being able to taste things. It drives me nuts.

MaggieMcGill Tue 10-Dec-13 19:46:13

Just out of interest, does it have an expiry date?

As luck would have it, there's a vaping thread in chat at the moment where we could post pics.

From what I have read, liquid is good for a couple of years although the nic content will probably drop a bit. Best kept in a dark cool place.

Jux Tue 10-Dec-13 21:42:30

Plenty, he doesn't use it that much! In fact really only since the smoking ban, and then only because he's a guitarist so can't smoke when he's working (pubs, parties etc). The one he's got is this one: His came from Totally Wicked 5 or so years ago, so has little devils on, which he likes too (so do I!).

oh right, looks a bit small for me grin

Jux Thu 12-Dec-13 22:42:34

grin it's bigger and heavier than a superking.

Update on the EU negotiations here ...

State of negotiations. The most recent leaked negotiating text I have seen is available here. But there has been significant discussion on Friday 13th on the Council side and a technical meeting of the trilogue. The process is opaque and insular and the documentation is secret. We rely on leaks and unofficial briefings to find out what is going on – so this assessment has to be taken in that light.

In summary – its a messy half-baked muddle, but not as bad as it was. It is however, far from the public health or consumer optimum. That would involve finding a balance between managing the minor and implausible risks that the public health community have fetishised and enabling the products to compete effectively with cigarettes, which is where the huge public health dividend will actually be achieved.

Remember for snus in Sweden, amazingly positive health results were obtained with minimal regulation. Of course, the people negotiating this negligently want snus to remain banned, so we can discard the idea that doing the right thing for health is their primary concern.

Where next? On Monday 16th December starting at 18.30 in Brussels, there will be the fifth ‘trilogue’ negotiation between representatives of the European Parliament and Presidency of the European Council – this meeting is aiming to secure agreement on a text for the revised Tobacco Products Directive, and in practice that means agreeing the text for Article 18 on e-cigarettes. Each side in the negotiations then has to take it back to their institution (Parliament plenary and full European Council) and win support. If both agree with the text, it becomes law. But that agreement won’t be reached until the Parliament has voted on it at its official ‘first reading’.

Process continues into 2014. The Parliament has not yet completed its first reading – the vote and plenary on 8 October kept it open referring it back to the rapporteur and ENVI committee to pursue negotiation with the Council. If trilogue agreement is reached, it then goes back to the European Parliament plenary sometime in early 2014. The Parliament will vote on a single amendment which captures all elements of the trilogue agreement and then passes a “legislative resolution”. If passed, this would complete the Parliament’s first reading. Once that’s done, the Council can formally adopt the directive (using exactly the same text as EP legislative resolution – that was have pre-agreed with the Presidency in the trilogue). If all that happens, the deal is done and the text becomes law. This process could be completed in the first few months of next year – but the key political agreement may be struck in the trilogue on 16th December. At least that’s what most involved seem to want. That doesn’t mean it will pass though: the European Parliament plenary has already rebelled once, and agreement in the Council can never be taken for granted – given domestic politics.

So it's not too late to write to MPs and MEPs by a long way yet.

There is another Twitter Bomb tonight, 8-10pm full details here

There is also a Thunderclap due to go at 8.30pm here - you can add your name via twitter, fb, tumblr or all three.

Cantabile Tue 17-Dec-13 17:29:01

I ordered some banana from Mist e-liquid (why?), which arrived this morning. It is 0 nicotine so no good to me at all. If anyone wants it, pm and I'll post it.

It's like those yellow sweets which are shaped not like a banana, and have a not really anything like it sort-of banana flavour.

I may need help in how to be persuasive. wink

grin yes, why did you get 0 nic?

Look what I'm getting for xmas

and one of these which has a removable drip tip so I won't hate it like the protank I.

Cantabile Tue 17-Dec-13 21:21:51

Ooh, do tell me what it's like. I keep looking at pictures and not having the faintest idea how it would actually work.

With a drip tip, won't you have to keep adding more liquid every few minutes? Good for trying out new flavours though. Could have done with one today, tbh - 1 new flavour for me, and 3 for my brother.

Why 0 nic? I don't know! I didn't mean to; I'm just not sure whether they've made a mistake or it was me, and I can't find my order number, or the page in my history or anything, so I can't check.

FWIW, their flavours don't seem to be terribly strong (except the banana!). My brother got strawberry, mojito, and choc-and-caramel, and they weren't v strong - just as well as they seemed about as nice as the banana grin Prob won't be ordering from there again.

DoYouLikeMyBaubles Tue 17-Dec-13 21:42:07

Can someone please explain the process of cleaning them?

I've used them for months, never cleaned them but wish I could do as I got annoyed when my new apple flavour still tasted of mint.

When it stops 'smoking', is it the clear bit I replace? I've been buying new ones each time.

I'm using a Liberty Flights e-cig. Can someone also recommend a good sight for flavours?

Xmas2013MN4407 Tue 17-Dec-13 22:48:54

I didn't realise you lot had a thread going

My name is Trinity and I am a Vaper grin

I gave up fags in March and have never looked back

I love vaping, I have an Ego c+ 1000ah

I adore Double mint liquid

thistooshallpasswontit Wed 18-Dec-13 00:17:00

I've just ordered a tornado t starter kit from totally wicked with strawberry liquid. I was pretty overwhelmed by all the choice but hoping this one might be a good place to start. No idea what to expect but you have all inspired me - god I hope I can stop too.
I am utterly fed up of stinking of fags. Also really starting to look like shit and dread what the fags are doing to my body.
What else do I need to get? More liquid? Where is a good place to buy from?

Xmas2013MN4407 Wed 18-Dec-13 09:12:39

OH SHIT, I've just messed up my anonymous xmas name

Cantabile Wed 18-Dec-13 10:11:11

Xmas/T grin

Baubles, have you got the ego starter kit that's on the LF site?

I have one clearo that's probably much the same as that one. I take it apart, run it all under the tap, and leave it to airdry. But that doesn't get the old flavour out of the wick, and probably isn't good for the atomiser itself.

Have you looked on YouTube? Vapers tend to be very helpful and keen to show others how to use and look after kit.

Thistooshallpass, you'll probably need a spare battery - even the massive ego-C 1000mah battery doesn't necessarily last a whole day, and the ego-T is quite little; the corollary is that it doesn't take long to charge, but you'll still want another.

Between us, my brother and I get liquids from all over the place. Vape Escape, Flavour Vapour, TW, LF, JAC, Mist ..... Most of the UK based ones seem much of a muchness vis a vis delivery, quality and price.

My main gripe is that Flavour Vapour's 10ml bottles have right angled shoulders so very hard to get the last of the liquid out; but now I'm more sure of what my main vapes will be and how long it lasts, I'm ordering in 100ml volumes and it's no longer relevant.

QueenStromba Wed 18-Dec-13 10:11:59

Can you link us to the clearos you're using Baubles? Most have replaceable atomizers meaning you don't need to replace the whole thing.

littlemisssarcastic Wed 18-Dec-13 17:12:40

Hi everyone, well I have received my starter pack, a twin pack of Ego C4 batteries, clearomisers, charger and e liquid.

Looks great, but I think I will stick to smoking, because despite buying from Vaping Vision Ltd, there are no instructions whatsoever in the pack, and despite watching numerous you tube tutorials, which all clearly explain how you unscrew the tip to pour the e liquid down the sides of the clearomiser, I really cannot unscrew them. They don't pull off, they don't unscrew in either direction, they just don't budge 1 millimetre.

Every single tutorial on you tube shows how you unscrew them with relative ease, so I have tried and tried, and now my finger has an indent in where I have tried, but to no avail and without the eliquid in them, I don't really see the point tbh.

Was really looking forward to trying the ECig out, but obviously need more help than a tutorial.

Feeling very frustrated.

DoYouLikeMyBaubles Wed 18-Dec-13 17:28:43

canta yeah that's the one I've got.

I'm trying to figure out what part is what, all this talk of cartomizers and clearomizers is going over my head ha.

Is the bottom part just the battery? Is it the top part that needs replacing when it stops puffing?

littlemiss, don't give up! Is this the kit you bought? The CE4 clearomisers can be tough to open the first time but they loosen up after that, so see if you can get someone with strong hands to open it (they should unscrew anticlockwise).

If not, get in touch with Vaping Vision - it might be a faulty batch, but they're really cheap anyway and not the greatest thing on the market. If I were you I'd just get some of these - also very cheap. They open at the bottom so you might find them easier.

littlemisssarcastic Wed 18-Dec-13 17:51:46

Do you know, I have actually worked it out. grin

I have a black kanger Evod, and it doesn't unscrew at the tip, it unscrews at the base.

I have now filled up with banana juice and now have gurgling and leaking, even though I was very careful about filling, but have found this is a common problem with the kanger evod and have discovered a brilliant you tube video to show how to resolve this problem too.

So off to make tea and see if I can fix the gurgling. grin

Cantabile Wed 18-Dec-13 18:00:13

Baubles, this diagram might help It has taken me ages to get to grips with what is what! And even now there are things I'm not 100% sure of, ie, what is the name of the top half of my ego t? I discovered 2days ago that I have to replace the entire thing, rather than take it apart and put in a new atomiser sad which means throwing away the old bit, and it is soooooo beautiful and feels so nice and is just the right colour......

Cantabile Wed 18-Dec-13 18:04:03

Well done littlemiss. I often have to get someone with strong hands to undo the bits for me the first time, and did find that with one of them I was having a go at the wrong end grin Happy vaping!

Yay! Good luck with fixing the gurgles grin

Baubles, yes the bottom part is just a battery and the top sucky end is an atomiser/clearomiser/something else. Is this the kit you have? That's a CE4 clearomiser which are designed to be disposable - you can't change the innards - but you can try dry burning or soaking in (cheap) vodka.

Some flavours get right into the plastic though so it might be easier to have a few on the go, e.g. one for fruit flavours, one for menthols, one for tobacco ... Most of mine end up smelling of gingerbread sooner or later grin

littlemisssarcastic Wed 18-Dec-13 18:09:50

I've fixed the gurgling and leaking!! Woohooooooooo!!! I'm getting a bit light headed from all the vaping to test if it was still gurgling or not. blush

I don't seem to get much vapour, but then I don't seem to get much throat hit either, it's a little bit of each.
Is this because I might have 50/50 liquid? Is 50/50 standard?
And do I have to choose between vapour and throat hit, or can I be greedy and have both? grin

thistooshallpasswontit - ideally you want two of everything, so two batteries and two sucky ends <technical>

For liquids, you'll probably want to try a few before you settle on something. Joose Juice are really cheap, nice liquid and very fast delivery.

Oh brilliant smile Generally, for throat hit, you want higher PG and for vapour, higher VG. Higher nicotine also contributes to throat hit. standard seems to be 80/20 PG/VG.

littlemisssarcastic Wed 18-Dec-13 18:23:21

I wonder if I am vaping wrong. hmm

Would you have any tips on what I could try to increase the 'smoking' feel?
I really have to suck a few times to get any vapour. confused

Cantabile - With a drip tip, won't you have to keep adding more liquid every few minutes?

I think you're thinking of a dripping atomiser. I've got one of those too which I'm scared to use with the intention of testing flavours.

The mini protank 2 in that link is just a clearomiser with a glass tank that takes completely to bits. It holds about 1.5ml so about the same as other small clearos. The drip tip is just the metal bit on the end that goes in your mouth. I had a protank 1 which didn't take to bits, I was stuck with the metal drip tip and discovered I really don't like them.

Are you sucking too hard? It's quite different to pulling on a fag. Aim for a very gentle suck over a few seconds.

DoYouLikeMyBaubles Wed 18-Dec-13 18:37:18

Ah thankyou canta and plenty!

I want to try some of these fancy flavours I've seen since discovering this thread...

Cantabile Wed 18-Dec-13 18:44:53

The longer you hold the vapour in before blowing it out, the less there is of it. I am deeply ashamed of the following but hey ho: dd was singing at a concert in church a few weeks ago. I vaped blush, only twice. By holding it in my lungs for longer than normal, nothing came out at all when I exhaled. FWIW, when it came to the interval, I vaped outside along with the smokers.

Ooh stealth vaping grin I didn't do that on a train the other day at all.

DirtyDancingCleanLiving Wed 18-Dec-13 18:55:57

I have discovered the joy of stealth vaping.

At work, all the poor mugs smoking fags have to go outside in the cold and rain. I nip to the toilet...much nicer grin

littlemisssarcastic Wed 18-Dec-13 19:12:12

Plenty OMG!! You are a genius!!! Sucking gently for a few seconds works. 2 puffs this way and I think it's bloody amazing!!!!

Thank you so much. I could kiss ya. grin

Cantabile Wed 18-Dec-13 19:12:51

Blimey, DirtyDancing, I'd stealth vape at my desk!

I vape on the train, and don't really try to hid it. Last time, no one batted an eye except for a little girl of about 7 who kept walking past me giving me filthy looks. I made it absolutely clear that I wasn't smoking, made sure she could see the ego and everything. She hated me. sad

Cantabile Wed 18-Dec-13 19:14:57

Littlemiss, thus another convert joins the quiche! Plenty, you are a real force grin

Lovely to see new faces still appearing on the thread. Katythecleaninglady should be very proud of what she's started.

Latest from Brussels is here I'm not sure if this is what will now become law or whether there are other stages where this could still be thrown out or amended.

thistooshallpasswontit Wed 18-Dec-13 19:48:57

Thanks for all the info! My order has just been despatched-hope its here tomorrow - standing outside in this pissing rain is miserable!! Just ordered some 10ml flavours to try-vanilla, apple pie and cherry. Sounds lovely! How do you steep them though?!? I'm v excited about getting all this kit and getting off the fags.

Steeping just means try not to vape them for a few days grin

They are mixed fresh to order and it takes a little while for the flavours to meld.

thistooshallpasswontit Wed 18-Dec-13 20:07:58

Thank you fgrin

ThisIsMyNameChange Wed 18-Dec-13 20:24:39

Zoidberg Wed 18-Dec-13 20:26:37

Hello, this is the first time I've posted on a vaping thread, I just wanted to say thanks to the first thread I finally stopped smoking after numerous attempts to stop. So massive thanks to all of you sharing knowledge and experience, you've changed my life.

Been about 2 months now I think, I'm going through the constant snotty-nosed detox from fags that I had when pregnant so I know my health is already improving.

And I'm not even vaping that much, still on my first clearomiser and halfway through the 10ml bottle of 18mg nicotine that came with my starter kit - which was a Liberty Flights one only because there was a special offer in October. I have even come to quite like the "tobacco" flavour that initially tasted like Lucky Strikes that had been lying around in an open packet for 2 years.

I flippin love Mumsnet grin

ThisIsMyNameChange Wed 18-Dec-13 20:35:41

Hmm, profound! I'll try again.

I've been encouraged to try vaping as I want to give up but have had no success via other routes (which has included stop-smoking services, hypnotherapy and NRT). I had used evils a few years ago and got on well with them... Until I realised they didn't contain nicotine, which basically stopped the placebo effect working!

Bought a CloudStix CE6 today along with 2 vials of liquid - strawberry and Turkish Delight (both Cloud Stix brand). Trouble is I'm not getting much joy out of them. I like the taste and the smell, and just two puffs is satisfying my cravings. Problem is I'm finding the kick too strong. I inhale, hold it in my throat/lungs, then cough and splutter like a mad woman and snort it all out of my nose, and find it really causes a burning sensation in my nose. I think they could work for me but this isn't exactly smooth! Any suggestions. I wonder if my nicotine levels are too strong - based on the fact I smoke 15 ciggies a day the chap recommended 18mg.

ThisIsMyNameChange Wed 18-Dec-13 20:37:17

Bwahaha - ecigs auto-corrected to evils in my last post!

Well done Zoid! flowers That's amazing, I get through 10ml a week.

ThisIs you could try 12mg to see how you get on. Also you might want to try liquid with higher VG. You don't have to inhale if it's not nice, most of the nic is absorbed through the mouth and nose. Also it can take a few days to get used to it, I think I coughed a lot at first.

Wittsend13 Wed 18-Dec-13 21:59:48

Hi All.

So glad to see a thread on here about these. I've been off the fags and on the vaps since second week of October. They're brilliant!. I use a local bloke who charges £3 per bottle and they're wonderful. If anyone wants his website let me know. Or if anyone knows of anyone cheaper let me know!

Cantabile Wed 18-Dec-13 22:13:29

Thisismynamechange. I was smoking 40-50 a day and use 18mg; my brother smoked the same, and uses 24mg. I do think that trying a lower nic will help, but it may not satisfy the cravings so quickly.

OTOH, maybe you're inhaling too fast; have you tried a gentler inhalation? Not necessarily longer though.

Cantabile Wed 18-Dec-13 22:16:49

Plenty, I have just ordered from Joose Juice on their 10ml for 1.49. I got gingerbread, maple syrup, and pecan. Also some flavour concentrate (apple, of course!) to see if I can add it to the various apples I already have and make them stronger.

I'm not expecting anything arrive before Xmas.

Wittsend13 Wed 18-Dec-13 22:32:53

Cantabile that's cheap! I will check them out thanks.

goodasitgets Thu 19-Dec-13 01:29:46

Being a bit dim here and I want to try vaping again
I have a tornado tank. Will this fit on the battery and it replaces the atomiser/tank bit?

MistressDeeCee Thu 19-Dec-13 01:34:59

Hi all, can anyone advise? Ive had 2 CE4 batteries, both broken. What can I get thats similar, a good price (cant afford anything expensive just now), & less prone to breaking? umm...10ml for £1-49 at Joose Juice? Im missing out! & Wittsend13 please put up the website.

Recap..Id switched to e-cigs & was paying £10 each for cartridges that didnt last long at all. Saw the original vaping thread and read all the info about vaping, e-juice etc, and decided to switch. Best thing I did. Much cheaper and far more satisfying than e-cigs. I do smoke 24mg as went down to 18mg altering with 11mg to see which one of those I could cope with, then found I could cope with neither. I need a stronger hit, although Im hoping to phase back into 18mg next year .

Well done Zoidberg. Isnt it lovely not to have your hair, clothes, breath, house smelling of cig smoke, & feel healthier too? I smoked cigarettes for 22 years and only e-cigs & vaping made me give them up successfully smile

goodasitgets yes, that looks like an ego battery on the tornado tank tutorial on the totally wicked site, so you can use just about any sort of atomiser on that, including the CE4.

The one on your link though is really bad value. For that price you could get ...

- 5 x gs-h2

- an evod and an iclear16 and have a couple of quid left towards replacement coil heads (for the evod, for the iclear16)

- for 50p more, a

Any of the above should work much better than a CE4.

If you really really want CE4s, these are good ones.

MistressDeeCee, is it the batteries or the clearomisers that have stopped working?

If it's just the clearomisers, I would recommend the gs-h2 for price and sturdiness.

If you need a whole new kit, this is good value or this but you'll need an extra battery (or just buy two kits).

Wittsend well done! flowers

goodasitgets Thu 19-Dec-13 09:50:31

Ah ok. So if I get the evod that's all I need to vape? I have the battery bit so I take it I just fill that and screw it on?

Yes smile

Get a spare though, or at least a spare replacement coil head.

goodasitgets Thu 19-Dec-13 10:21:04

Have ordered the gs h2 off eBay - how long do coil heads last? And I got some apple pie joose juice too

ThisIsMyNamechange Thu 19-Dec-13 16:08:52

I got some 11mg liquid today and that's made a huge improvement. Was thrilled to get it in Grape too as that's my fave flavour! But to be honest I'm a bit unsure how I feel about it. I'venoticed I get a horrible indigestiony sensation after I've vaped which is similar to the sicky feeling I used to get after using those Nicorette minis. The flavour isn't as strong as I was hoping and I'm not feeling as satisfied as I would after having a ciggy. At the moment I still feel I want to go out and have half a ciggy as well.

Am I doing something wrong or expecting too much? Honestly, does it just take a few days to get used to?

Cantabile Thu 19-Dec-13 16:36:27

Wittsend, thank Plenty! She's been telling about Joose Juice for ages; don't know why I kept not going there!

Cantabile Thu 19-Dec-13 16:40:02

Bh, Thisis, I am still having the odd fag as well. When I first started - sometime on the other thread - a few people did say that doing both for the first few weeks was pretty standard. Truthfully, I didn't want to give up at all just cut down a bit, and save some money. Both of which I have achieved beyond my wildest dreams (down to less than a third of my old cigarette intake, and the dosh I seem to have sloshing around!).

QueenStromba Thu 19-Dec-13 17:06:33

I've found a use for my old CE4s smile The plastic bit on one of my iclear 16s cracked and I was able to replace it with a CE4 one.

What flavours have people tried from Joose Juice? I'm tempted to try the belgian waffle, cheesecake, gingerbread, apple pie, blackberry and blackcurrant flavours - has anyone had any of these?

ThisIsMyNameChange Thu 19-Dec-13 17:27:08

Thanks Cantabile (and everyone who's given me advice) - that was what I needed to hear! I was feeling a bit discouraged seeing so many people who had turned off the cigarettes straight after starting to vape and thinking I would go straight to that stage. I do want to give up completely but I also need to believe something will (potentially) work.

I want to give up because of health, money, smell, the many negative effects my smoking will have on my ds and dh (ds is young enough that if I stop soon he'll never know I smoked - I probably will tell him when he's older but don't want him growing up with it, although it never smoke around him or indoors but obviously must smell). Plus none of my family know I started again after he was born [idiot emoticon]. I have family staying over Xmas so I need something to get me through it. Also I suffered horrendous mh problems during pregnancy and I think a lot of that was down to me quitting the fags so I want to be a firm non smoker BEFORE any future pregnancies!

My aim is to be fag-free by end of Jan and nicotine free by my birthday in August. I may continue to vape the nicotine free stuff!

Hi everyone, Just a quick question.

Does anyone feel uncomfortable at all vaping in front of other people? I have confined my vaping to indoors and in my car so far, but have only been vaping since yesterday evening.
Am a 15-20 a day smoker usually, but have smoked 3 cigarettes in that time, due to enjoying the vaping and finally being able to sit in the warm indoors and vape instead of standing outside in the garden, but I smoked the cigarettes when I had an unexpected visitor this morning, because for some reason, I felt uncomfortable getting my Ecig out. sad
I did mention I was vaping now, so I'm not trying to hide it, I just don't want anyone staring at me whilst I vape ha ha.

Did you all vape in public, in front of people straightaway, or not?
Is it something that comes with time? confused

QueenStromba Thu 19-Dec-13 18:58:50

Don't feel bad for starting smoking again namechange - I've lost count of the number of times I've given up smoking for many months just to start again. The good news is that I'm past my normal relapse point and I have no desire to have a cigarette - vaping is just so much nicer.

I was the same littlemiss - I felt really self conscious when I moved from a cigalike to an ego. It wore off after a month or two though.

thistooshallpasswontit Thu 19-Dec-13 18:59:17

My kit arrived today-it was like Christmas morning I was that excited! So far I am impressed. Love the amount of "smoke" on the exhale and the strawberry juice is satisfying my sweet tooth. Thinking about fags a lot though and not sure how often I should be vaping-do you vape the same amount as smoking? How many draws do you have at a time? It's tempting to use it every 5 mins!! Also, how are you holding them? It feels awkward...(I know what you mean littlemiss)
Thanks again thanks

littlemisssarcastic Thu 19-Dec-13 20:41:40

Thanks. I am ok when I am at home and haven't smoked at all. Tbh, when my guest came this morning and I smoked the cigarettes, I was left wanting another cigarette and another cigarette and I didn't feel satisfied. I was ok until I had smoked the first one.
I also didn't like the taste in my mouth, and I felt a bit bleurghhh.
It's just so much nicer to be vaping Mint. It just feels fresher and cleaner, so I look forward to feeling comfortable enough to vape all of the time, whether in company or not.
Despite all of the vapers on here, I don't know a single vaper IRL. I have mentioned to a few people I wanted to start vaping, and a few people have mentioned buying the disposable ecigs from garages etc, but I've not actually seen anyone with an Ecig of any kind.

QueenStromba Thu 19-Dec-13 20:43:00

I just use mine whenever I want to. I thought I was getting through a lot but I stuck to one flavour for the last week and only got through 20ml of ~14mg in a week in an iclear 16 which is supposed to be very juice thirsty.

I have a puff or two every few minutes - more frequent than actual smoking but fewer puffs at a time. Despite the more frequent nicotine doses I find it easier to go without than with cigarettes - I used to find it hard to go an hour without a cigarette but I can go that long without vaping easily enough. I used to have nicotine lozenges for when I had to go an hour without a fag because I got massive withdrawal otherwise but I'm fine now without them.

Cantabile Thu 19-Dec-13 22:34:09

I vape all the time too. You don't get that natural pause like you do at the end of a cigarette. My brother, at first, tried to work out how many inhales per cig and emulate that with the ecig, but stopped trying pretty soon. Vaping is a slower way to ingest nicotine, I think - pretty sure I've read that somewhere in all the literature - so you use it slightly differently.

I wasn't worried about vaping in front of people, but people in my small town tend to think I'm a bit eccentric strange, so what difference did it make to add yet another oddity to my arsenal grin

Having said that, if I were at a school event - even if it were outdoors - I wouldn't vape in front of the schoolkids (though I might find the bike sheds and vape behind them; somehow, you'd have to do it, wouldn't you?).

What I do do when people are at my house is show them the equipment, before I actually vape in front of them. I think in my early days I made it look like more of a demonstration - look, isn't it interesting? - rather than "I need a fag but I'm doing this instead".

Quite a lot of my friends smoke, and most of them want to give up, not least to save money, so a lot of people around me are interested. 3 or 4 people already have ecigs as a result of evangelising, and another 3 or 4 are getting them for Xmas.

All that said, I still don't see a lot of people vaping, even when I'm in our nearest city. Today I saw 2 which makes it 3 altogether over a couple of months. I tend to do it rather ostentatiously when I'm in the city, I think because I want all those people standing about outside having a swift fag to know there's an alternative.

goodasitgets Fri 20-Dec-13 19:06:11

Started tonight. I've ordered 24mg I think but the watermelon I have here is 18mg, I think it's not strong enough as I still want a cigarette angry

So I'm doing what someone suggested (not sure whether on this thread or previous) and basically using vaping in between so I'm having a cigarette, then vaping instead of when I would normally have another

Cantabile I've just nodded along to your whole post fgrin

I think I pretty much chain vaped at every opportunity for the first month and a half. It seems to have calmed down over the last couple of weeks though. I get through about 2.5-3ml a day of 18mg. I have read that most people vape 2-5ml a day and that the right amount is 'whatever it takes' fwink You'll know if you've had too much, just as you know when you've smoked too much - you'll feel a bit sick and you'll put it down.

I have bored my mates shitless going on about my kit fblush I make a point of vaping when I walk past people smoking. I haven't seen anyone vaping near me (darkest se london) but a few up in central london. DH sees a lot - where he works vapers outnumber smokers and they all compare kit.

I miss the 'end point' of putting a fag out. I keep overdoing the pasta because I used to time it by having a fag.

Goodasitgets, good luck! how many fags did you smoke? I think it's a good idea to do both until you get used to vaping. It can take a while to get everything working well together.

Yay, thistooshallpass! It does feel awkward to hold until you get used to it. I have mine on a lanyard cuz i iz cool because I was forever putting it down and forgetting where it was.

Queen you made a frankentank! fgrin I didn't manage to take mine to bits without trashing the plastic but I ripped all the wicks out and have been practising coiling on them. I have a few of those joose juice flavours. Gingerbread is lovely. Apple pie is very nice too but is more apple than pie. Blackcurrent is ok but a bit weak flavoured. I have the cheesecake but haven't tried it yet.

It wasn't me that first posted the joose juice link it was someone on the first thread. For those of you scratching your heads at the pricing structure (why are 3 x 10ml bottles cheaper than 1 x 30ml bottle?), all the 30ml are bogof! It doesn't say anywhere on the site, during the ordering process or on the invoice, they just send two of whatever you order.

goodasitgets Fri 20-Dec-13 21:39:49

Um I would say 20 a day but probably more like 30

I need 24mg I think. Found a shop in town that has a taster bar, also Christmas flavours grin so I'm going to pop in tomorrow

This is worth watching if you want to understand what's happening with the EU. It's rather long but it's worth watching the whole thing for the house of lords debate at the end.

On saturday jan 11th there are going to be vaping flashmobs at bbc studios around the country to try and get media interest in what's happening and why it matters.

Yes sounds like 24mg would be about right. What christmas flavours are they doing? I've been wondering whether you can get christmas pudding or mulled wine or ham in coke or brussel sprout

Thisismynamechange, have you tried any VG based liquid? I've read a few people saying the PG gives them indigestion. VG is also supposed to be easier on the throat so you could probably cope with higher nicotine.

goodasitgets, the coils should last a few weeks if you clean them occasionally. This video shows an evod clearomiser but they're the same inside as a gs-h2.

goodasitgets Fri 20-Dec-13 22:08:27

They have spiced apple, Christmas chocolate and spiced clementine grin

Will watch vid tomorrow, am planning on seeing if they have batteries in stock (as a back up) and I need a thing to stop the button pressing in when it's in my bag

goodasitgets Fri 20-Dec-13 22:10:00

Ooh google throws up a lot
Christmas pudding and mulled wine!

Your battery should switch off if you press the button either 3 or 5 times really fast. You then need to do the same to switch it back on so it shouldn't go off accidentally.

Ooh I'm tempted to get some christmas pudding flavour now. The ones you linked to though are flavourings for mixing your own. these are the ready mixed ones.

Sorry, forgot to say, the light on the battery will flash a few times to show it's switching off or on.

thistooshallpasswontit Fri 20-Dec-13 23:12:39

I nearly had a cig earlier this eve - I am really missing the few mins of solitude it gave me. I am enjoying vaping inside my cosy house though - I feel cleaner too smile
I don't think I'm on a high enough strength looking at some of your posts - I've only got 6mg because that's what it said on the side of my menthols but should I have factored in how many I smoked?

Cantabile Fri 20-Dec-13 23:16:30

Goodasitgets, I've just ordered the Xmas Hamper from that site; fingers crossed!

That's another nice thing about vaping, I have more cash so I can play with eliquids and equipment grin

My brother has just bought this ghastly thing - it's a Shisha K100+. It's enormous, unwieldy, looks and feels like doggy-doos. Comes in a nice case though. Took him ages to work out how to get it to work too (but that was at least partly because he wouldn't read the instructions - won't admit he needs glasses - or even look it up on youtube. Is that a man-thing?). I looked it up for him..... Twit that he is.

Cantabile Fri 20-Dec-13 23:19:59

Plenty, I want a lanyard and am hoping someone will give me one for Christmas. I got my brother and my friend nice stands for their ecigs (and ones for myself while I was at it!).

QueenStromba Sat 21-Dec-13 00:53:17

I've just bought over a litre of 7.2% from here for just over a hundred quid. This will do me for several years at my current rate of vaping. The new EU regs are scaring the fuck out of me so I want to be able to not worry about it.

QueenStromba Sat 21-Dec-13 06:49:27

I've gotten very worried about the whole EU thing so have just bought a litre of 7.2% from bargain vapour. Bugger - I've just done the calculations on that and it's actually about six years worth! You know where to come for your nicotine once the EU passes their silly laws!

littlemisssarcastic Sat 21-Dec-13 08:15:50

Wow QueenStromba. Will it last that long? Doesn't the juice have a use by date?

I'm also worried about the future wrt vaping but not sure what to do about it.
Maybe bulk buying is the answer. Wouldn't we need enough batteries, clearomisers to last 6 years too? That would amount to a tidy stash of vaping equipment. grin

I'm tempted to stock up too, queen. It should last if it's kept in the freezer.

littlemiss the advice I've seen is to get a mechanical mod (takes normal batteries) and a rebuildable atomiser and learn how to coil. Probably a good move to make friends with someone who has a metal lathe and knows how to use it, too fwink

or just buy one of these fgrin

or switch to the Legal Vape 4000 fgrinfgrin

goodasitgets Sat 21-Dec-13 12:42:40

Smoked normally this morning. Stuck in traffic and I've been vaping so that's at least 4 cigarettes I've not had
Am heading to vape shop (in town, this was a stupid idea!)

QueenStromba Sat 21-Dec-13 12:46:17

Yeah, it's going to live in the freezer. Silly me buying 6 years worth without realising! It's probably going to be longer than that too since I'll probably end up vaping lower and lower concentrations. I've probably bought a life time supply (not bad for 150 euro)!

I'm assuming that flavourings will be fine because they don't have nicotine in them? Flavour Art etc will just have to stop branding them as e liquid flavourings. PG and VG are also easily

I'm also guessing that atomisers/clearos won't be covered by the new law/will make it past customs because they won't know what they are? I've got a gagillion atomisers so can always rebuild them if the worst comes to the worst - I probably have to worry more about batteries wearing out and the plastic bits from the clearos getting cracked.

LucyLasticKnickers Sat 21-Dec-13 12:48:59

i cant believe they will stop?!
there seem to be loads and loads of providers. <<must be making a tidy profit>>

DoYouLikeMyBaubles Sat 21-Dec-13 13:05:56

I'm lucky I don't have to buy online. There's a fabulous vape shop up the road. There's sooo much to look at and buy, the staff are really knowledgeable and it's a really relaxed atmosphere. Went in today and they had a ton of flavours, and you could even make your own there and then.

Then there's the other one further away that's decided to make their shop into a more clinic sort of place, no-one goes in.
