metro.co.uk/2013/11/13/the-glass-ceiling-illustrated-in-one-meet-the-staff-web-page-4186032/

I don't just think it's the glass ceiling that's the issue here. The other staff all seem to have a few things in common.

namechangesforthehardstuff Thu 14-Nov-13 19:55:37

Good God. angry

Tenacity Thu 14-Nov-13 19:56:45

How strange! shock

southeastastra Thu 14-Nov-13 19:57:05

depressing

PerpendicularVince Thu 14-Nov-13 19:58:40

Wow

Jinsei Thu 14-Nov-13 19:58:55

Gosh, how depressing!

Are they taking the piss? confused

BlueStones Thu 14-Nov-13 20:04:34

It's not just even that they're all women.

They are all white women aged between 22 - 27. They've even all (OK, mostly) got the same bloody hairstyle.

CbeebiesIsMyLife Thu 14-Nov-13 20:06:23

shock Wow!

OrlandoWoolf Thu 14-Nov-13 20:07:02

You noticed Bluestones

Even the hairstyle

Longdistance Thu 14-Nov-13 20:08:43

The women are very attractive looking, and young. Then there's the men at the top.

I wouldn't want to work for such a superficial company.

VivaLeBeaver Thu 14-Nov-13 20:08:46

Certainly looks like unless you're female, slim, glossy hair and fairly attractive you wouldn't have a chance of getting a job.

Unless of course you're a middle aged bloke and then you'll be on the board in no time.

Quoteunquote Thu 14-Nov-13 20:15:29

Well it says a hell of a lot about those four men, and who ever was unlock enough to have a relationship with them. Is it real?

but then I have to admit that I run a company which is entirly all men apart from me, which in some ways is worse, I do have a woman plumber and a woman decorator sub contractor, but other than that I boss a lot of men about. But not many women want to go into construction in this country.

Greythorne Thu 14-Nov-13 20:18:00

Good lord.

maybe3x Thu 14-Nov-13 20:19:51

Ha I worked for a solicitors like this in my twenties, 3 male employers, lots of twenty/early 30 something ladies and very few men. Changed quite rapidly when many of said ladies started having babies and they were faced with a lot of maternity leave. It became a lot more balanced after thatsmile

monicalewinski Thu 14-Nov-13 20:19:53

There are no words.

JacqueslePeacock Thu 14-Nov-13 20:23:57

confused shock Also the pictures. They look extremely posed - even the blokes. As if they' eg all just had a makeover and are trying to looking like you might be considering them for a date.

TeamEdward Thu 14-Nov-13 20:29:37

Is this company based in Stepford?

DavidHarewoodsFloozy Thu 14-Nov-13 20:30:45

Fucking hell, it's MadMen come to life.

Agree, truly depressing sad.

LadyKatherine Thu 14-Nov-13 20:30:56

They have now replaced the page on their site with this:

14 Nov 2013
You may have noticed that we no longer have a ”meet the staff” page. Following a rise in visits to our website and mentions of the company through certain media channels in relation to our recruitment policy, we have chosen to remove it from the website indefinitely.
We took this decision in consultation with our staff who are rightly concerned about being posted around the internet by people making inaccurate and inappropriate comments about our staff and our recruitment policies. The “meet the staff” page was designed for our clients to put a face to the name of the people they deal with here and now that page has been taken out of context we feel it is no longer appropriate.
We are an equal opportunities employer and will remain so. We are proud of our team and remain committed to their individual development.

Um, yeah. Ok then......

MellowAutumn Thu 14-Nov-13 20:33:34

I personally have a more optimistic view in that they do have women in managerial positions not just admin and support - in 5/10 years some of the women hopefully will be on the board.

OrlandoWoolf Thu 14-Nov-13 20:34:22

From their website

Oh ffs...

Mylovelyboy Thu 14-Nov-13 20:39:45

Women scream equality. Well some of these ladies are in managerial positions. So what are you all [shocked] about.

OrlandoWoolf Thu 14-Nov-13 20:42:32

mylovelyboy

That's all the staff. Do you notice anything they all have in common?

Heartbrokenmum73 Thu 14-Nov-13 20:43:38

Orlando

Don't feed it! Don't do it!

VivaLeBeaver Thu 14-Nov-13 20:44:12

Well looking at the whole company structure I suspect that the female "managers" aren't actually managers. As in they're not managing anyone. They get a nice important sounding job title of business manager to make the job sound better.

I used to be a technical manager for a company which translated to office junior/admin. I managed the stationery cupboard.

VivaLeBeaver Thu 14-Nov-13 20:44:49

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Mylovelyboy Thu 14-Nov-13 20:44:55

Yes all pretty women, all white. And.....
ffs please tell me what the issue is. I am not goading. What is the shock about all this.

OrlandoWoolf Thu 14-Nov-13 20:47:49

All white, young pretty women. 4 middle aged males in charge.

No issue. Don't know what the fuss is about. Of course you're not goading., Just like a previous thread where you proclaimed ignorance.

Mylovelyboy Thu 14-Nov-13 20:48:29

Yes all managers............does it really matter. Alot of managers/directors I have come across couldnt organise a piss up in a brewery. Its a title.............and.

Heartbrokenmum73 Thu 14-Nov-13 20:48:44

Orlando

More than one thread actually...

Well why don't you click on the Huffington post link I did, read the comments and then use your intelligence to figure it out?

BOF Thu 14-Nov-13 20:53:32

Maybe because there's an issue with step 3 in your suggestion, Orlando? Who knows?

Heartbrokenmum73 Thu 14-Nov-13 20:54:47

BOF grin

LifeHuh Thu 14-Nov-13 21:01:07

Snigger. What we probably need here is subtitles for the hard of understanding...or maybe not, life's too short!

Tanith Thu 14-Nov-13 21:07:30

I used to work for a communications company. They hired a new director whose first action was to reorganise the department, renaming the management positions and redefining their responsibilities.

Every one of the women was changed to "Supervisor". All the men were "Managers".

So I'm not surprised to read this. Depressed to see nothing has changed in all this time, but not surprised.

Bearleigh Fri 15-Nov-13 07:54:17

I work over the road from a medium sized media company, and my office is on the same level as their meeting rooms. I do also know some senior people who work there.

I have noticed that their mid range employees ( who facilitate meetings) almost all looked like those young women ie young slim and attractive with glossy long hair. There are definitely no racial minorities and very few men. And yes almost all the senior team are middle aged men. I have commented to them about this...

ToysRLuv Fri 15-Nov-13 09:14:53

I just showed this to DH, who practically fell on the floor laughing. No wonder the men are grinning..

namechangesforthehardstuff Fri 15-Nov-13 10:06:53

My DH just kept saying. 'Is it real?', 'No, is it?'

I just lurve their statement that they are an equal opportunities employer. Really? Oh that's OK then. For a second there...but no, you must be, if you say you are.

No evidence to the contrary at all.

OrlandoWoolf Fri 15-Nov-13 10:24:49

I just can't believe no one stepped back, looked at the images and then thought about what people might think about the company. I would love to know what's being said in their workplace now.

<Wonders if Mylovelyboy has seen it yet?>

Jossysgiants Fri 15-Nov-13 10:49:56

I am worried about the queue for the ladies in their offices....

I am sure lots of companies do this, but not all are idiotic enough to publicise it in this way. Thanks Op this has given me a much needed laugh this morning.

OrlandoWoolf Fri 15-Nov-13 10:52:59

They could probably use the gents. I'm sure the board have their own exclusive toilets.

Jossysgiants Fri 15-Nov-13 11:04:24

I'm sure the board have their own exclusive toilets .
That would be very sensible. And since they would only need urinals it shouldn't be too costly. Their new slogan - ' If you can piss standing up, you can join our senior management. After all we are an equal opportunities employer. '

territt Fri 15-Nov-13 11:54:18

I really don't see the problem, the company was started by men on the board, should they really just promote a woman because the board is all men?

OrlandoWoolf Fri 15-Nov-13 12:50:53

I don't think the all male board is the main problem. Can you see the similarity between the rest of the employees?

WallyBantersJunkBox Fri 15-Nov-13 13:06:55

It is an equal opportunities company:

All the woman are equally young, equally styled and equally slim......

I wonder what the directors have decided is the theme for the Christmas Foam Party - sexy elf, Sexy Mrs Claus, Sexy Christmas Cracker? I bet they are giddy with excitement.

currentbuns Fri 15-Nov-13 13:10:24

Wally I'm not sure you can tell whether the women are all slim or not from the headshots, to be fair.

WallyBantersJunkBox Fri 15-Nov-13 13:16:29

Looking closely at the photos I think you can tell that the majority of them aren't obese either.

zatyaballerina Fri 15-Nov-13 13:18:12

It looks like they're only hiring women they want to sleep with, which I suppose they aregrin The men are very happy looking in their photoswink

Quangle Fri 15-Nov-13 13:19:05

Love their passive aggressive disclaimer. The public are not commenting on the looks of your staff, you morons. They are commenting on you. Negatively. That help at all?

What a bunch of creeps.

AnnieJanuary Fri 15-Nov-13 13:28:34

I have short hair. I'd never get hired.

territt Fri 15-Nov-13 14:44:21

No one on here really knows, im guessing with a company of that size that they aren't the only people employed there.

Mimishimi Fri 15-Nov-13 20:34:57

Ha ha!

TondelayoSchwarzkopf Fri 15-Nov-13 20:41:18

Ha! They do all have the same hair don't they?

If they are showing pictures of the accounts support I am guessing those are ALL their employees - indeed the article states that.

Can't wait for my promotion to the board, I'm going to only employ hot, 20 something guys.
