I was watching her on TV today talking about her maracattack fitness dvd. found here

Clearly she did this for a laugh (ish I am sure the money helped) but I am actually thinking that of all the dvds THIS is the one I am most likely to want to put on and join in with BECAUSE it was done as a bit of fun. AIBU to buy this dvd and lose 5stone and then be all fabulous (and probably meet Miranda who will want to be my best friend?)

TooTabooToBOOOOO Wed 13-Nov-13 15:18:33

YANBU she is wonderful and I luffs her.

ScarerStratton Wed 13-Nov-13 15:50:48

I can't stand her, she makes me cringe

Tee2072 Wed 13-Nov-13 15:56:32

I thought maybe you meant the planet.*

*Hands up if you get the reference.

owlbegoing Wed 13-Nov-13 16:59:41

Ooh thanks CocacolaMum I know what's going on my Christmas list grin

GhoulWithADragonTattoo Wed 13-Nov-13 17:03:22

Do you know I actually though the DVD sounded good too. It is a joke obviously but it might actually be a fun way of doing half an hour's exercise without going out in the cold and dark...

UsedToBeNDP Wed 13-Nov-13 17:06:19

She is toe curlingly shite.

MyBoilsAreFab Wed 13-Nov-13 17:08:20

I am so putting this on my Christmas wish list. I hate fitness dvds - I have had many over the years and never done them. But I actually think I might do this one!

Tee it is something to do with Uranus, isn't it, fnar fnar.

MrsDoomsPatterson Wed 13-Nov-13 17:14:55

She is so try hard.

ten year old like her. It says it all, really.

noddyholder Wed 13-Nov-13 17:16:17

Just no. She is the last person I would want to emulate though

Raddy Wed 13-Nov-13 17:20:10

I saw her promotion of this DVD on This Morning today and I cringed. It was so unfunny.

ZingWantsGin Wed 13-Nov-13 17:20:40

toe-curlingly shite? really?

what have you done today to make feel proud??

noddyholder Wed 13-Nov-13 17:21:14

I don't know anyone who thinks she is funny IRL only on here!her voice goes right through me Girls like her were 2 a penny at my snooty school and they were not funny AT ALL

ZingWantsGin Wed 13-Nov-13 17:22:02

* make you feel proud

ConferencePear Wed 13-Nov-13 17:23:33

I didn't go to a snooty school. I find her very funny.

Sleepyhoglet Wed 13-Nov-13 17:24:28

If it gets you moving then go for it!

Tee2072 Wed 13-Nov-13 17:24:44

Well, Noddy, someone must like her or she wouldn't have a show and things.

noddyholder Wed 13-Nov-13 17:25:57

I know Tee I am not disputing it just never met anyone! All my friends loathe her equally

BobaFetaCheese Wed 13-Nov-13 17:26:33

Hands up for tee!

Don't like the Miranda OP is on about...

elskovs Wed 13-Nov-13 17:27:31

She makes me cringe too. I tried reading her book. It was bad, really really bad.

I hate "luffs you"

OrlaNuttin Wed 13-Nov-13 17:35:00

You all leave Miranda alone. She's fab and my best friend. In my head.
Anyone being mean will have the reavers set on them. I got the reference Tee!

SmiteYouWithThunderbolts Wed 13-Nov-13 17:37:24

I love her. I saw her at church a couple of times and only just suppressed the urge to run up to her, arms flailing and tell her how much I adore her.

Tee2072 Wed 13-Nov-13 17:37:59

grin Boba and Orla

xfilefan Wed 13-Nov-13 17:39:29

Miranda is amazing! also my best friend in my head, shes brilliant.Such fun.

neiljames77 Wed 13-Nov-13 17:45:01

I find her slightly, very slightly, more amusing than Jenny Eclair and Michael McIntyre.

That's about as kind as I can be.

Purplefrogshoe Wed 13-Nov-13 17:45:51

yanbu i love miranda!

She is try hard but we're all in on the joke! She pokes fun at herself, she's self deprecating, it's supposed to be all self conscious and over the top, she's larger than life. NPI!

OrchidLass Wed 13-Nov-13 17:58:00

Och she's harmless and she makes my kids laugh so I like her!

Alisvolatpropiis Wed 13-Nov-13 18:00:27

I don't get Miranda as a comedian. Though I like her in Call the Midwife.

She's on the list of people I don't find funny -
Keith Lemon
Mrs Browns Boys
Alan Partridge
Bryn from Gavin and Stacey
Lee Evans
James Corden
Ricky Gervais
Rowan Atkinson
Russell Brand

That is not an exhaustive list.

OrlandoWoolf Wed 13-Nov-13 18:59:52

Miranda's great.

But I think she might be a marmite person.

TooTabooToBOOOOO Wed 13-Nov-13 19:01:28

One of the reasons I luff her so much is the hatred other people on here have for her.

harticus Wed 13-Nov-13 19:14:15

I didn't realise she irritated people so much - I will like her even more now.

Sokmonsta Wed 13-Nov-13 19:16:41

Yanbu. She's such fun! I'm going to see her show next year grin

OrlandoWoolf Wed 13-Nov-13 19:17:34

Looking at Alisvolatpropiis I don't like most of them. Rowan Atkinson was good but I can not forgive him for Mr Bean.

But Miranda is fab. She just has something about her that's really nice and funny without taking herself too seriously.

sandfrog Wed 13-Nov-13 19:20:31

YANBU. She's very funny and I'd buy this. Looks a great antidote to the usual type of tanned-and-solemn DVDs that usually put me right off.

Don't think Kirstie's enjoying being photographed for the DVD cover though, she's barely managing a smile!

lookatmycameltoe Wed 13-Nov-13 19:24:28

She is SO unfunny. So cringeworthy. Awful. I've tried watching that show of hers because my mum reckons it's hilarious. It isn't.

Oh I'm so tall and clumsy and look like bloke but I'm soft and girly inside. Oh no I bumped my head on the door frame. Whoops. Grrrrrrrrr!

MrsDoomsPatterson Wed 13-Nov-13 19:37:23

Aww, I don't hate Miranda, I don't actually hate anyone. She's just a bit lame. Good for anyone who likes her though, we are all different.

mrsmalcolmreynolds Wed 13-Nov-13 19:38:26

tee I hope my nickname speaks for itself?

teaselweasel Wed 13-Nov-13 19:39:07

I think it helps to be 5ft 11 and built like an ox to really get Miranda. Me an my mum know exactly where she's coming from..

dementedma Wed 13-Nov-13 19:43:08

I think shes very funny

teaselweasel Wed 13-Nov-13 19:43:13

Asked mother if she'd like the new Miranda DVD for Xmas. She's v excited and can't wait to get her maracas out.

hermioneweasley Wed 13-Nov-13 19:44:01

I think she's brilliant. DW doesn't get it at all!

loveliesbleeding1 Wed 13-Nov-13 19:45:51

I do like miranda, but to be honest I watch for gary. That's what I thought everyone was doingblush

mamapants Wed 13-Nov-13 19:49:17

Am only 5ft1 and I love her too teasel
I think she's the opposite of trying too hard though, she doesn't take herself seriously and its all just a bit daft. Sometimes its too silly and misses but in general she's funny and very likeable.

mamapants Wed 13-Nov-13 19:52:12

I agree with alis list except for Bryn from Gavin and Stacey and Rowan Atkinson, who doesn't love Blackadder?!

Alisvolatpropiis Wed 13-Nov-13 22:57:54

mama balls! I do like Blackadder. However it was all Mr Bean when I was a kid, hated it. It's always my first point of reference with Rowan Atkinson.

Heartbrokenmum73 Wed 13-Nov-13 23:03:57

Oh I'm so tall and clumsy and look like bloke

That's just spiteful.

I like her a lot, my kids like her, and I know lots of other people (yes, in real life) who like her too.

Sue me <shrugs>

Ludoole Wed 13-Nov-13 23:26:00

I think Miranda is brilliant.
I so want to dress up as Wheres Wally? and hide in a shopping complex! grin

BringMeTea Wed 13-Nov-13 23:31:10

Nope. Don't get it. And the book. My God. I did finish it. I kept waiting for it to become serious or sincere or sensible. It is a very odd mishmash of autobiography and Jackie meets Mallory Towers. I cannot fathom what the publishers were aiming for. My DP's 11 year old niece 'read' it. Clearly not aimed at her yet written in a child like style. Weird. And not in a good way.

Snowbility Wed 13-Nov-13 23:40:26

The book is pretty awful but my 10 year olds love her and giggle while they she'll do.

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance Thu 14-Nov-13 00:13:24

Not going to get the DVD but I love her. Luckily so do the people I work with, my DH and my DSs.

Uncle Bryn from G&S is based on a real person - told by a close and reliable source.

GetOrfGetStuffed Thu 14-Nov-13 00:22:29

I am 6 feet tall and a clumsy tool but I find her dismally unfunny. It is really old fashioned BBC comedy and I just don't get it. People love her though. I find her slightly more tolerable than the awfully arch Sarah Millican.

I just think Miranda is oh lawks, I just fell over.

And then I cringe to death.

applecrumbleandcream Thu 14-Nov-13 00:41:26

She's brilliant. So funny and a fantastic writer and actress nerr !! grin

love Miranda. Especially in Call The Midwife.

She makes me want to put my head down the toilet and flush it repeatedly n

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis Thu 14-Nov-13 06:28:15

she is awful. And has a show becsuse she is another Footlights alumni.(soggy chips anyone? )

BeckAndCall Thu 14-Nov-13 06:31:18

She is, what I call, hilarious.

Love her shows ( but cringe at about 20%) and I really like her as a person when she's interviewed - the kind of person you'd just want to be friends with in real life.

CuChullain Thu 14-Nov-13 09:02:22

Never found her funny, ever, but I have never been a fan of that slap-stick style of humour either. She is seen as 'safe' by BBC execs so will be rolled out again and again.

GetOrfGetStuffed Thu 14-Nov-13 11:35:44

I find it exasperating that safe, middle of the road gentle comedy like Miranda gets a prime time spot and is lauded as some kind of saviour by the bbc, yet Julia Davis who is genuinely an innovative comedian was shunted to BBC2 after years of successful comedy, and her last series for the BBC was cancelled.

UsedToBeNDP Thu 14-Nov-13 18:31:09

Julia Davies is a genius, GetOrf

UsedToBeNDP Thu 14-Nov-13 18:31:30

Sorry, Davis

phantomnamechanger Thu 14-Nov-13 18:56:19

Miranda is very funny and very clever, she comes across as natural and doing what she loves, there is nothing wrong with a bit of gentle harmless mainly clean humour. I love her looks and asides to camera inspired by the wonderful Eric Morecambe. Excellent casting of Stevie and Mum too. Such fun!

I like the person Miranda. She seems really nice. But her series was not funny. The same thing happened week in week out. DH was howling with laughter wiping away the tears while I looked at him like this hmm

Same goes for Sarah Millican. Her original stand up routine had funny bits. Her chat show is getting awkward.
