Fuckers, the lot of you

TeaAndSconesTwice Sun 10-Nov-13 23:08:42

What happened??

I don't have a clue.

Icepilot Sun 10-Nov-13 23:09:08

In joke?

What have they done? Eh? The feckers.

Maryz Sun 10-Nov-13 23:09:37

Thorn understands.

They finished a thread without waiting for me lessons

IamtheZombie Sun 10-Nov-13 23:09:44

What has Zombie missed???

I daren't ask what my latest crime is....

Maryz Sun 10-Nov-13 23:10:24

And I can't post on it because its finished.

It needed finishing TBF

Maryz Sun 10-Nov-13 23:11:03

We're you not there Sparkling?

They were all laughing at me sad

What thread?

What do you mean, 'finished'?

Was it full? Or did RowanMN lock it down?? <<intrigued>>

Maryz Sun 10-Nov-13 23:11:37

RowanMumsnet did a blank post Zombie.

HoneyDragon Sun 10-Nov-13 23:11:56

You snooze you loooze grin

Rowan was awesome

Oh, did they just fill it with lots of v short posts. They euthanised the fred, didn't they?? shock

Maryz Sun 10-Nov-13 23:12:14

It wa the PieAndShite thread pacific.

TheDoctrineOfWho Sun 10-Nov-13 23:12:15

Naughty Rowan!

lessonsintightropes Sun 10-Nov-13 23:12:18

Still YABU if it's not comprehensible to anyone else who didn't read the thread...! There are better ways to to continue a discussion than this which just looks like nastiness to someone who hasn't been on the boards all day... Sorry if I hastily reported but really, nothing to stop you doing a #2 fred.

I agree with EmZed?

sad Maryz. I wasn't laughing.

I was just about to go to bed, now I will have to go and look for the fecking thread, won't I?

YABU. So there.

HoneyDragon Sun 10-Nov-13 23:13:00

Then intention was a lock down, but I rallied the troops, SOME people (Maryz) were MIA, though.

Maryz Sun 10-Nov-13 23:13:14

I only went to watch Downton

Maryz Sun 10-Nov-13 23:13:55

<snogs Chaos>

Where have you been?

IamtheZombie Sun 10-Nov-13 23:13:58

Linky please?

HoneyDragon Sun 10-Nov-13 23:14:28

Erm, tbf, usual shouted for you briefly but some cow baggage sat on her.

The thread is titled 'Trolls'. Please don't start anything. sad

Maryz Sun 10-Nov-13 23:14:46

It's ok lessons, don't worry about it smile. I posted in a hurry.

Oh, that thread.

Yep, that needed shutting down.

I've been working on a cocktail...

ThornSayre Sun 10-Nov-13 23:16:03

Sparkling it was hideous for you and you showed immense grace.

Maryz Sun 10-Nov-13 23:16:06

And to be fair, it was mostly Honey's fault as per usual

HoneyDragon Sun 10-Nov-13 23:16:57

We're not allowed to discuss the thread Sparks, it's ok.

Maryz oth, has been trying to kill a thread for ages and always misses. She knows I was pushing her buttons. grin

Worked to

I missed smiley art?
Was Talc there?

I was looking for a silly thread last night and couldn't find anything hmm

Maryz Sun 10-Nov-13 23:17:27

No, no, I deliberately didn't start a "trolls part 2 thread"

RowanMumsnet would ban kill me

usualsuspect Sun 10-Nov-13 23:17:32

I called you over the tannoy, but Honey sat on me.

I'm still a bit squashed.

And somebody was mean to Sparkling?

Maryz Sun 10-Nov-13 23:18:23

I have never, ever, ever x 1,000 killed a Fred sad

In spades Pacific.

Maryz Sun 10-Nov-13 23:19:17

Oh yes Pacific. Someone was truly shitty to Sparkling.

It was like kicking kittens

Are you ok?

I have killed many a fred in my time - some of them my own... hmm
'Tis a skill hmmhmm

HoneyDragon Sun 10-Nov-13 23:19:39

You had a tannoy? I dread to think where that went then. <shifts uncomfortably>

I'm far too flaky for a 1,000+ thread.

My line in the sand is about 137 posts.

Minisxule attention span.

Maryz Sun 10-Nov-13 23:21:09

Kotinka, wasn't it your thread?

I think there should be a new guideline.

When a thread is full, the op and only the op can still post on it to get the last word kill it properly

Why would someone be crappy to SpaBro?

She's like mellow.

I'm ok now.

lessonsintightropes Sun 10-Nov-13 23:21:28

In that case sorry Maryz, I was too hasty grin not the first time. Sparklingbrook sounds like the good ladies of MuNuAiBu (as it's called in our household) rallied to a worthy cause.

usualsuspect Sun 10-Nov-13 23:21:44

I finally managed to get the 1000 post on a thread the other week.

Ticks it off MN to do list.

Too many new rools, EmZed.

I've heard people are asking ofr new smileys, ffs.

Maryz Sun 10-Nov-13 23:22:20

I don't mean killed, Pacific. I mean get the last post on a full thread.

Sadly I have normal killed a gazillion few.

HoneyDragon Sun 10-Nov-13 23:22:39

Sparks is lovely. It made someone look like a mean attention seeker.

I would love to see usual's To Do list.

does not mention sidebollox

I've just skimmed that thread and it Makes No Sense At All.
What/who are/is P&B? Not Mr and Mrs Terry Burtcher obv.

And I was being nice to Sparkling, NOT to MaryZ. What was mean in her OP.

kotinka Sun 10-Nov-13 23:23:54

Maryz Sun 10-Nov-13 23:24:19

HoneyDragon Sun 10-Nov-13 23:24:41

Ahem. Can we get back to the op. I believe she'd probably not done hating me grin

<<shameless dragon>>

Maryz Sun 10-Nov-13 23:25:31

Yy kotinka
I started reading it when it was still young and lost it. Too weird.
Wondered whether either I or MN were on something. Or on not enough...

HoneyDragon Sun 10-Nov-13 23:27:03

Yes Kotinka.

They are the side bollocks of shame3

I don't mind if Maryz is pissed off with me. I love her regardless.

Maryz Sun 10-Nov-13 23:28:26

<ignores Honey>

knowing that will piss her off more than shouting

Why is she picking on you specifically, Sparkling? <strokes hair>

I was so convinced I'd got the last post on that one!

HoneyDragon Sun 10-Nov-13 23:29:10

It was just what I needed as a distraction (apart from the bits that made Sparks sad enough to turn into custard) this afternoon. I've been all sad and bereft.

ThornSayre Sun 10-Nov-13 23:29:22

According to the P&Ber I have been talking to, someone large of nork with long dark hair was being a cunt to Sparkling.

Can't think of anyone who would be so poisonous and vindictive who also has those distinguishing features.

It's a mystery.

Maryz Sun 10-Nov-13 23:29:39

My iPad hates me

I haven't had, not aren't hade, ffs

Maryz Sun 10-Nov-13 23:30:57

I was nice to Sparkling earlier, honest I was. I like her, she's nice.

Now Honey, well ....

ChippingInLovesAutumn Sun 10-Nov-13 23:31:02

Well, Maryz, it has to be said - it serves you right for watching that claptrap that is Downton.

Oh no, no trouble, please <looks around nervously>

Maryz Sun 10-Nov-13 23:32:40

There is a forum called pie and bovril, full of intelligent and witty posters, pacific <lies>

But don't tell anyone I told you.

We aren't allowed to talk about them. RowanMumsnet will be cross.

Good grief, I need to go to bed and leave you all to your weirdness grin

They sounds... nice. Ta.

And I bid you good night, good ladies. Or whoever you are x.

Maryz Sun 10-Nov-13 23:34:21

Anyway, I'm off to bed in a huff

I am going to finish a thread this side of Christmas if it kills me.

ChippingInLovesAutumn Mon 11-Nov-13 01:20:08

Oh the end of that other thread was comedy genius grin

Poor Rowan though - thank god my pelvic floor is still fully functioning grin

Maryz you can ignore me all you like - but you can't deny the truth of it grin

IamtheZombie Mon 11-Nov-13 01:26:03

MaryZ is also ignoring Zombie. << sobs >>

WallyBantersJunkBox Mon 11-Nov-13 01:31:03

I thought we were just continuing onto the "Shiteing" thread with the latest P&B recruit.

Or is the new one from somewhere else now. <<sighs>>

39 pages in I hadn't solicited one mention even with all my sparkling wit and repartee and Pie related japes. sad

loveblackcats Mon 11-Nov-13 01:43:33

WTAF is this about?!

That thread was clearly traumatic to more than one person - R.I.P Fred <solemn>

Wally, that happens to me ALL The Blood Time - I think my sparkling wit and sophisticated humour is just on too high an intellectual level for the vast majority of MNers grin.

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 09:20:54

<peers over parapet>

Apologies to all. I just had a moment there.

And sorry, zombie, I didn't acksherly want to link because it was better left dead.

but it's still that fucking weasel's fault [cryptic]

HoneyDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 09:43:11

Morning Maryz. That weasel is a right bastard. <<nods emphatically>>

TheCuntingPigeon Mon 11-Nov-13 09:48:06

Coo coo. hmm

SilverApples Mon 11-Nov-13 09:52:06

I thought this was going to be another one of Maryz's notorious 'Anyone talks about Christmas before December, it's flamethrower time' rants.
You know, where she threatens to stomp and shred any premature erections of decorated trees and wanders the boards armed with holly stakes to skewer blatant revellers who wish her 'Merry Christmas'
Ho, ho, ho. grin

HoneyDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 10:05:22

It's November. It's time to start discussing valentines now isn't it?

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 10:48:07

I am NOT discussing the counting C word

[gritted teeth]

I miss Olivia [sob]

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 10:48:40

ffs, I can't even teach my phone to swear

HoneyDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 10:49:15

I'm going to vacuum then look at Christmas jumpers on the interwebz before I collect dd.

Thatisall Mon 11-Nov-13 11:12:02

chuckling at 'euthanised the thread'

WallyBantersJunkBox Mon 11-Nov-13 11:38:04

Pacific - I like that explanation. I'm going to steal it to use as my very own. And not give you the credit. grin

Morning. I have started a thread about daytime TV in honour of the deceased thread.

What the Jeff are you all going on about?

Anniegetyourgun Mon 11-Nov-13 11:50:36

I have absolutely no idea what you mad things are all on about. However, I do feel confident in saying YANBU, because it's Maryz and she is never U.

Badgerwife Mon 11-Nov-13 11:58:55

awww poor maryz

Either it tells us your multi-tasking skills let you down, or it's just proof that real life and MN are incompatible. How dare you watch Downton and miss the death of a thread

Wally, you and I could start a Superior Quiche grin

And only on MN could you see the phrase "shred any premature erections" and not necessarily fear for anybody's manhood grin

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 17:06:43

I was just wondering, since I have you all here grin whether it would be unreasonable to ask for a Not-Christmas topic?

Since Amy has informed me that it is almost Christmas hmm there appears to be a compulsion on everyone to post about Christmas.

Every fucking thread I open is about Christmas, or presents, or inlaws, or food ffs.

I could possibly start an aibu about it?

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 17:07:09

I am happy to enter a Superior Quiche too.

As long as no-one talks about Christmas.

WallyBantersJunkBox Mon 11-Nov-13 17:19:50

As a commited Chrismasist you'd have to count me out. I lives for the Christmas threads.

Anyhow - the John Lewis ad is like Holy Water isn't it? Once that comes on you have to retract, hissing, back to your box - it means that Yuletide is officially allowed to start, and all complaining must stop. grin

The board of directors of John Lewis have a direct line to the Archbishop and the Queen. They tell them both when Christmas can officially happen. <<sniffs>> tru dat.

usualsuspect Mon 11-Nov-13 17:26:00

The Coca Cola Ad is the official start of Christmas.

Not the wimpy JL Ad.

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis Mon 11-Nov-13 17:28:10

You, you atrocious chums

WallyBantersJunkBox Mon 11-Nov-13 17:31:41

JL add was on first though.......

<looks MaryZ up and down over top of lorgnon. Sniffs>

I suppose you'll have to do, MaryZ.

I'm with you on the C-word issue.
I love Christmas. It starts 4 Sundays before Christmas Day - not when some stupid, tearjerking ad dictates it.

magimedi Mon 11-Nov-13 17:50:57

I would be unutterably delighted to join you, MaryZ.

C*******s does not begin until December, and then only gently until about 15th December.

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 18:13:12

The John Lews ad is wrong on all sorts of levels though hmm

Waking hibernating teenagers bears WRONG
Imitating the saddest film ever Watership Down WRONG
Muted colours for Christmas WRONG

I think JL need to be taken out of the equation.

WallyBantersJunkBox Mon 11-Nov-13 18:14:07

Kotinka - there is an alternate ending actually. grin

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 18:15:11

And I think some of you get me wrong.

I love Christmas, really love it. I overdo it with the presents and the lights and the decorations and the food and everything. Christmas when mine were little was just magic.

But it seems to me takes a lot of the magic away when it is shoved down my throat in October and then continuously for two months.

Magi and Pacific are right. Four weeks lead up to Christmas, with most concentrated in the last two weeks.

Anything else is just WRONG.

I don't mind the lead up I hate actual Christmas. sad

Everyone else has though, obvs

SilverApples Mon 11-Nov-13 18:47:22

We begin CHristmas stuff on December 1st.
However, there will have been experimental mulling and tasting of wine, and much festive baking in November. Just so I can get it right. wine

I am drinking Sloe Gin as we speak. grin

HoneyDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 19:01:26

Are we not meant to have our boobs out?!

I'm currently in the bath. Should I put a jumper on?

Have you written anything on your breasts Honey? wink

HoneyDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 19:13:55

I'm now allowed to write on my boobs sad there's a strong chance they will be available in Sport Stores from Summer 2014.

hmm my life is weird.

HoneyDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 19:14:15

Not allowed.

everlong Mon 11-Nov-13 19:17:13

What's happened?

<flings self at ever> Where have you been? sad

Oh, pre-Christmassy baking is compulsory - I made my first ever Christmas cake today probably my last ever as well, but I felt you have to try everything once. House smells lovely smile.

Will your breast be availably in Decathlon, Honey? I have their store card <interested>

If you think you are the only person who is sane you are likely to be as right as the driver on the motorway thinking all the other cars are going in the wrong direction grin

everlong Mon 11-Nov-13 19:25:50

<strokes sparky's lovely back hair>

I've been perming DS (14) hair. Yes you read that right.

What has been going on?! A fracas without me?

<arf> at 'back hair'. grin

Ooh a perm has it turned out ok?

i thought perms were extinct shock

everlong Mon 11-Nov-13 19:30:37

First check is at 7.35 so I shall let you know.

We've had a right laugh at him with his plastic bag on his head

Have you any experience of doing this ever? <worries>

everlong Mon 11-Nov-13 19:32:07

No PD.

Perms are all the rage wid dem kids.

Salmotrutta Mon 11-Nov-13 19:32:22

What's been going on around here?

I don't understand.

But then again, I rarely do...

Salmotrutta Mon 11-Nov-13 19:33:15

You are perking a boy?

Like Kevin Keegan?

Ah, I see.
It's been a while since I was wid it like neva and my DSs don't care yet.

<throws breadcrumbs to the Brown Trout>

everlong Mon 11-Nov-13 19:33:39

Wellll I always wanted to be a hairdresser.
That counts doesn't it?

Right better go and sort out boyo!

Salmotrutta Mon 11-Nov-13 19:33:41

Salmotrutta Mon 11-Nov-13 19:35:51

Nightmare more like...

If it turns out ok, you could then maybe perm Sparkling's back hair next, everlong? <helpful>

My whole MNing experience is like some drug-addles dream hmm
Or what I would imagine a drug-addled dream would be like...

usualsuspect Mon 11-Nov-13 19:39:16

MN is like one long trip ,man.

You leave my back hair out of this. Old ladies in tea rooms have complimented me on it I'll have you know.

They've never seen my toe hair <hobbit>

Tee2072 Mon 11-Nov-13 19:48:49

Wait, Honey is selling her breasts?

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 19:50:32

God knows. I certainly don't grin

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 19:51:45

Perms for 14 year olds?

Is it 1976 again [hopeful]

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 19:53:04

Hang on

<reads back>

A perm on a 14 year old boy

Definitely 1976.

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 19:53:55

Do keep up Tee, that was yesterday.

She sold them for a Pie and a mug of Bovril, dinchyano?

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 19:54:18

<talks to self>

<In totally sane way, obvs>

Tee2072 Mon 11-Nov-13 19:55:48

I'm trying to remember where I was yesterday.

At least if you are talking to yourself, somebody is listening.

I have to now go and get my darling offspring from their Sporting Activity. Deep Joy.

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 19:58:33

Good point Pacific, I shall remember that.

We are all lurgified here, so I don't have to go out at all.

Tee2072 Mon 11-Nov-13 20:00:46

I've just had cheese breadsticks and a belgian ice cream thing on a stick for dinner.

Just so y'all know.

everlong Mon 11-Nov-13 20:11:08

Just call me

He's happy so I'm happy.

Think 80's fun boy 3 stylee. Curly in top shaved round the sides and back.

Grennie Mon 11-Nov-13 20:15:50

Perms are back in fashion?

Phew. Has he gone off to do a selfie for FB?

everlong Mon 11-Nov-13 20:18:14

Yes I would think so.
The whole of year 9 are in anticipation over this sodding perm!

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 20:18:28

Ah, like The Merkins

ds2's hair is like that naturally. Last week he agree to take an inch off the top, thank goodness, it was looking a bit like this

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 20:19:28

Having said that, he didn't want to get his hair cut until after his rugby photograph, as it adds about two inches to his height grin

everlong Mon 11-Nov-13 20:21:30

Oh Maryz ds would be jealous. That photo is what he aims for!

Where does the name murkin come from?

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 20:24:59

Sorry, SuePurplyBits calls that band "The Merkins" on the X-factor thread, and their hair was getting more and more like that every week until they got kicked off.

I have no idea where or what Merkins actually are?

And having googled images I'm none the wiser gringringrin

ds's hair isn't quite as curly as that, it's more sort of sheep's wool like. And he's not allowed to have the sides quite that tight at school, so we are compromising a bit.

Oh, I used to have a hair cut like MaryZ's 2nd link - vair cool I was too. AND I had 2 piercings in my left ear lobe <daring>

Tee2072 Mon 11-Nov-13 20:26:42

My hair was long and permed on top and shaved back in the 90s.

You know you're getting old when...

ErrolTheDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 20:27:10

Artificial Ladygardens.

ShakeRattleNRoll Mon 11-Nov-13 20:30:13

I know, Tee, when the trends of your yoof come round a 2nd time you know you should not join in.
I looked a bit crap the first time round tbh... blush

Nothing to see, move along please, Shake

Tee2072 Mon 11-Nov-13 20:32:02

It actually suited me. grin

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 20:33:48

Yes, well I do now, obvs hmm

I am going to have to delete my internet history again.

I have no idea, Shake. All these feckers are fecking up my fecking thread.

No, MaryZ. No.
We are educating you and broadening your horizon.
Be appreciative.

If you are at home, it is actually quite safe to google image search for "merkin".

Shake it's a whole load of people talking a whole pile of bolleaux.

usualsuspect Mon 11-Nov-13 20:38:02

We are filling up your thread,so Honey you can get the last post.

Tee2072 Mon 11-Nov-13 20:39:58

Is that what we are doing?

In my defense, I had no idea what a merkin was until I came on MN <glowers>

I was equally innocent as to the meaning of 'dragon butter', 'blue waffle', 'lemon party' etc. hmm[feels soiled]
No, none of those are safe to google.

Only 800 to go. grin

Oh, sorry [appreciative]

Between having to delete my history every second day, and having the strangest set of Amazon recommendations you could ever imagine, my children have taken to asking me whether I need NetNanny on the computer grin

usualsuspect Mon 11-Nov-13 20:43:18

The smell of perm solution takes me back to my Grandmas house and watching the wrestling on a Saturday afternoon.

everlong Mon 11-Nov-13 20:46:41

Happy days usual.

Nobody did tell me hats been going on. I guess the time has passed.

Everyone still friends?

I am loving LOVING Chaos' new nickname nicknames

I'm not as good at it but how about

I can't figure out good ones for everlong or usual. I suck at this blush

Ok so do I post this inane post or delete.

Oh fuck it.

Tee2072 Mon 11-Nov-13 20:51:22

Am I suppose to be T2?

Can anyone shed any light on the Fresh Prince aspect of the Pie & Bovril Farrow & Ball debacle? If indeed it was a debacle? Maybe "matter" is a better description? Anyhunks, I saw it referenced both here and there so someone could PM me if they wanted to.... smile

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 20:52:15

Oh, I very much like Ho-Drag grin

Very appropriate.

That's a relatively sane post, Hearts. But then, the standard isn't very high.

Yup. You are. Sorry, it's lame isn't it?

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 20:57:27

No idea about the Fresh Prince bit, but Rowan got her knickers in a right twist about some alleged football manager and his wife.

It all went over my head a bit, I have to admit.

usualsuspect Mon 11-Nov-13 21:00:13

The Fresh Prince thing is a troll meme that's been around for years.

Think the boys from P & B are just catching up with the internet.

Tee2072 Mon 11-Nov-13 21:00:33

Yeah. Tee is already an actual real life nick name, you see.

Ok you can just be Tee grin as if you need my permission

Don't you also have a special exemption from Chaos re having numbers in your name? Lucky thing grin

Tee2072 Mon 11-Nov-13 21:07:48

No. Chaos sads at my numbers all the time.

But I've had them longer than I've been on MN. So I won't get rid of them.

And the screen name Tee is already taken, although no one seems to be using it.

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 21:09:09

Chaos has given usual an exemption on the capitalisation thingy as well.

Chaos is going soft hmm

usualsuspect Mon 11-Nov-13 21:09:21

I like your numbers Tee.

You would look naked without them.

usualsuspect Mon 11-Nov-13 21:09:22

I like your numbers Tee.

You would look naked without them.

Naw, Tee's ok 'cause she's capitalised grin

P-Dog, eh? Sound like some dodgy rapper <does stupid hand move> Yoh!

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 21:10:29

I was trying to work out who SpaBro was.

usual, oh yes, no capital letters - v suspicious

ShakeRattleNRoll Mon 11-Nov-13 21:10:52

figh fight fight

Tee2072 Mon 11-Nov-13 21:11:20

usual did you borrow Chaos' phone?

I like my numbers too. Especially as I've never told anyone what they mean.

P-Dog, I think it suits you. Whasssssssaaaaaap?!

usualsuspect Mon 11-Nov-13 21:12:27

It's this kindle, it's not very good at MN.

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 21:12:32

I have always assumed that they were you size and your age, Tee?

Am I not right?

<ducks, runs, and emigrates to a country far, far away>

This thread might be a bit weird and random but googling "Fresh Prince meme" was a revelation - seriously.
Why do people bother? Internet weirdos. Not me. Or you lot, of course.

RandallFloyd Mon 11-Nov-13 21:14:46

Well isn't this just bloody marvelous.

A whole thread full of lovely people, all talking absolute shite.

For a scarily long while I thought this was a thing of the past.

<happy sigh>

(I have very little idea what's going on and I don't even care smile)

HoneyDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 21:16:12

As in a ho in drag?

<hugs Randall and touches inappropriately>

usualsuspect Mon 11-Nov-13 21:17:08

<hugs lovely thread>

Well, if the shoe fits, HoDrag.... grin

Maryz did you figure it out?

ShakeRattleNRoll Mon 11-Nov-13 21:18:51

what they done then?

Tee2072 Mon 11-Nov-13 21:18:53

Yes, I'm a size 7 and 22 years old. I scrambled it to confuse everyone.

Yes, HoDrag. Or, as I just typed, HoGrad. Whichever you prefer.

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 21:20:03

Hello Randal, how are you m'dear?

I am the owner of a naice thread [proud]

I am vair clever Hearts.

Ho-Dragz, I originally gave you a cool Z but you could be Honey-D if you want.

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 21:21:39

Ho-Drag really is good, isn't it?

You must be beyootyful, Tee, and so young!

HoneyDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 21:22:05

The Fresh Prince meme was a new one for me too. Who knew?

I defy anyone to come up with a rapper name for me. I've been trying for the last 20 minutes

usualsuspect Mon 11-Nov-13 21:24:08

I asked DS about it, he said it was a 4Chan thing from a few years ago.

Not sure about SpaBro. Do I need to get a snapback?

While we are all showing off about how young and beautiful we are here's me <flutters in the breeze>

Yes, but 4chan? Eh? 4chan?? Will I need to google more? confused

RandallFloyd Mon 11-Nov-13 21:26:43

Put me down PDog, you don't know where I've been!

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 21:28:51

RandallFloyd Mon 11-Nov-13 21:28:57

How's about H-tizzle-dizzle.

Word up grin

Oh, you dirty, dirty girl, Randall grin

Tee2072 Mon 11-Nov-13 21:31:34

Actually Chaos tends to call me TeeThing anyway. I can't remember why.

My son just fell asleep. He'll never be up for school tomorrow.

Oooh am loving these!

Tee better than being size 20 born in 1972 <<looks in mirror>>

<<although you need to deduct 2 from each IRL>>

HoneyDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 21:32:20

Or, or, or, right. I could just stick to Honeydragon?

HoneyDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 21:33:42

I don't know whether my son is asleep or awake

<<cries snotty wussy tears>>

Let me think..... Nope, Ho-Drag.

Word to your mother

Oh, I forgot, Honey. Did he get away ok?
Of course he'll not be asleep grin

Tee2072 Mon 11-Nov-13 21:35:09

Well size 16 born in 1969.

How's that?

I could be Tee1669?

That would be weird. I've been Tee2072 for over 10 years across the 'net.

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 21:35:27

My son went to bed yesterday at 11.30 am.

He woke up this morning at 9.30 am.

He slept for 22 hours shock

How come Honey?

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 21:36:37

What about Weas-Led?

I'm lost confused

~What is word?

No way, MaryZ - that's impressive, even by my sleep-standards shock.

My DSs1 and 2 have said goodnight and gone upstairs, but I have No Clue whether they are asleep or on their iPods not hmm...

HoneyDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 21:37:07

Yes. Well the buses were late then they loaded the children on and says there for another 20 minutes leading to a couple of tears. He was fine once we got to the school and his mates were there.

Dd was marvellous till the bus left. Then she burst into tears and cried for two hours solid.

Word up! - especially for you, Mary <mwah, mwah>

Aw, bless you all.
He'll have a ball. But you know that. And HullyPup will be fine too x.

HoneyDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 21:39:33

Oooooh I have come up with a theory as to your name, tee! When did you abandon the colonies?

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 21:41:02

Oh, is he away Ho-Drag?

I always reckon trips away are much harder on the mums than the kids from a homesickness point of view.

HoneyDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 21:41:19

She cut her paw today.

She's been instructed not to to let her leg fall off.

I'm doing a gangrene check every hour.

She looks at me like I am nuts.

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 21:41:57

I have no earphones, P-Dog.

And ds has just yelled "ffs, what's that?" at me.

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 21:42:18

Very intelligent puppy you have there Honey grin

HoneyDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 21:42:55

Yes Maryz. He's fine. But the last school residential he went on when he got home I had to tell him his dog had died. Now have ishoos

RandallFloyd Mon 11-Nov-13 21:43:09

Where's he gone Honey?

HoneyDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 21:43:53

hmm Hullypup could be wrong you know?

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 21:44:11

Oh, that's never good sad

HoneyDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 21:44:41

He's gone to the seaside.

Today he has done quad biking in the rain grin

RandallFloyd Mon 11-Nov-13 21:46:32

Sounds like my idea of hell.
Perfect for small boys though eh?!

HoneyDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 21:46:50

Its fine
PDog talked the sense into me on Saturday night when I was a wibblyfucker.

Really, it's the least of my worries. I have now discovered that in another 4 years I will be expected to enable him to achieve ridiculous haircuts

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 21:47:06

Wow, school trips have gone up since my kids went to Wexford for a day.

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 21:47:45

[arf] at ridiculous haircuts.

dd is 17 and we are currently at the "forging id's" stage.

Things you never thought you would do as a mum ...

See, he's having more fun than at home grin
HullyPup would have the decency to let you know if she were poorly.

Mary, like I said, aiming to educate grin - you and your DS....

HoneyDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 21:49:40

They like to send them away at ds's primary. I think they are still in a minority amongst schools, they have their first residential at 7, for one night. Then two nights, then the week by year 6.

Quad biking in the rain sounds brilliant.

My DDs school sent them to York in February and they were outside the whole time. I was so happy. Character building you see.

Tee2072 Mon 11-Nov-13 21:50:51

1993 I moved from the land of the Golden Gate to the one of the flag protests.

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 21:51:05

Mine used to go to scout camp. Rolling around in the mud in the rain.

Now they go on rugby tour. Rolling around in the mud in the rain.

HoneyDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 21:51:20

My. Dad just signed my permission slip for the local conservative club and the working mens club. They used to let you drink at 16. Times were easier then grin

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 21:51:38

You have been in NornIron since 1993 shock

You must really love your other half.

RandallFloyd Mon 11-Nov-13 21:51:39

I can't wait to experiment with DS's hair.

Unfortunately it currently grows upwards instead of downwards so options are limited.

HoneyDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 21:52:10

Bollocks. That's my Tee's numbers theory buggered sad

I remember my school residentials so fondly.
Wow, that sounds great, Honey.
Here they only go away in P7 for 5 nights for the first time, total no contact with parent (unless limbs hanging off).

But then again, I sent my DS1 away for 3 months last term, so I am a well hard-nosed... mutha grin

I mean quad biking in the rain sounds brilliant for the kids, not for us!!

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 21:53:30

ds is 15 and his still grows upwards, Randal.

I used to get him sheared once a year.

Tee needs to have her head examines for leaving her home soil. Seriously

HoneyDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 21:55:01

Yes, no contact here either. But each morning the school like yo send a gleeful text explaining which terrifying activity they will be doing that day.
The sadists.

RandallFloyd Mon 11-Nov-13 21:55:52

Arf @ shearing children grin

Do all schools send kids away so young <wibble>

The kids all love it - 'tis the parents wot need therapy grin

I threatened DS1 I'd plait his hair for him today - I don't hanker after having a girl, but i'd love to mess with hair more. everlong's DS give me hope <grateful>

P-Dog one of the only times I ever saw my dad show a single emotion was the day (25 years ago) I left on a 4-month student exchange to West Berlin. Mum was suspiciously dry-eyed.... grin

HoneyDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 21:58:44

Not all Randall. Lots of primaries do a yr6 residential though. Ours was cheap compared to others, at £285, though. So be warned grin

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 21:59:46

In Ireland we all wait until they are secondary age, and send them off to the Gaeltacht for a month.

Where they run free, eat potatoes, discover sex and (hopefully) learn a bit of Irish. It's like a right of passage.

And saying goodbye to said DD1 on said trip to York at Kings Cross - the girls all ran like little puppies towards the platform and all the mums were sobbing uncontrollably had something in their collective eye, watching them go.

RandallFloyd Mon 11-Nov-13 22:02:07

Yr 6 I could probably pretend to deal with.
£285 though? Blimey, I'd best start saving!

HoneyDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 22:02:11

I went to York a couple of years ago. It was not as much fun as when I was small.

I love doing hair. Wish I was better at French braids/plaits. DD1 will brush her own hair but I still get to do the hairdo. DD2 (7) has made a Hair Chart - seriously - where each day of the week she has a different thing. Mondays are plain ponytails. Tuesdays are braids. And so on.

HoneyDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 22:06:53

Dds hair is a mass of untameable ringlets. Getting the brush through it is as successful as we get grin

HoneyDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 22:07:29

I like the chart. grin

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 22:08:24

I remember when dd's hair was suddenly long enough for a single pony tail [nostalgic]

Now it's down to her backside. Thank goodness her peer group aren't into the shaving/backcombing/colouringweirdcolours that so many teenage girls are. She has absolutely beautiful hair envy

The Chart is a good idea - v organised grin.

DS2 has ringlets - not that he ever lets his hair grow long enough that you'd know hmm - "only girls have curls, mum". Idiot.
He demands to get shorn.

Hearts, try a Dutch Plait - v pretty.

Maryz Mon 11-Nov-13 22:10:44

yy, ds used to demand to get shorn.

Now curls on top are cool donchano hmm

Randall the 5-day rezzie at the school I work at is £480!!! Rich parents!

HoneyDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 22:13:53

Shocking costs.

Pacific, what's a Dutch plait?

I'm from the colonies originally so our terminology is sometimes different.

HoneyDragon Mon 11-Nov-13 22:16:24

Like a raised French plait.

usualsuspect Mon 11-Nov-13 22:17:32

My DS has long hair,he nicks my GHDs.

Dutch Braid YouTube Tutorial - it's basically a French Plait that sits on top.

I like fishtails too - I used to do them on myself <wistful>

Oh ok! I think that is what I would call an inverted French braid. I love those too. It's the only one I can manage to do on myself! You should see me twisting around trying to see in the mirror. I have quite long hair and DH laughs at me. Jerk.

usualsuspect Mon 11-Nov-13 22:20:34

I used to do fishtails on my girls hair.

The both had wild hair.

It has never occurred to me that I could look on YouTube for this stuff! No idea why, but Thank you!

I can never seem to do a fishtail without it taking hours and hours.

I quite like The Small Things - she does a blog too - she's currently v pregnant with her first, so who knows how long she'll be around... She goes on a bit in the link I posted above, sorry about that, there's probably better tutorials kicking about.

RandallFloyd Mon 11-Nov-13 22:29:30

£480 shock holy crap.
Where are they going, the moon?

Grennie Mon 11-Nov-13 22:36:24

£480! You need to tell us where they are going?

Tee2072 Tue 12-Nov-13 06:19:07

No. I'm an idiot. 2003. 1993 I was still at university.

They go to a French chateau. Paris for a day. Horseback riding etc.

I really really really hope I am not outing myself here!

The Trip

Maryz Tue 12-Nov-13 15:43:23

Still, ten years isn't too bad Tee. Especially in Belfast.

Wow, France for what? Ten year olds? ds's school are going to Paris this year, but he's not going.

Well, I've been in Scotland since 1993 <wins>

Our school did not do any overnights at primary level, but then had a French exchange with a school outside Paris going (I went twice - 'twas en education shock) and took us skiing. Twice. I remember the discussions at home how on earth this was to be financed. BUT - the school gave us ALL equipment and the whole thing was subsidised. It was my entry drug to skiing grin - I am hooked. Well, I was until all these DCs scuppered that. Whose idea were there they anyway?? wink

Is your DS choosing not to go, MaryZ? If I may be so nosey...

My DS gets to go to Normandy for a week trip to the war cemeteries.

His school is so rock and roll.

They are v impressive (in a sad way) and really touching, MmeD.
And if it's a decent time of year he might catch some good weather?

I feel obliged to add that I went to a bog standard state school (not in the UK though).

Topseyt Tue 12-Nov-13 16:46:08

I miss all the decent bun fights, if that is what it was. sad

To be fair, its a history trip, not a language one, or a jolly!

They are all vair serious at his gaff. Also a state school, but a sparkly new, baby boot camp academy!

Maryz Tue 12-Nov-13 17:05:10

No he hasn't chosen not to go - he'd go to Bognor with a man in a trenchcoat and BO given the chance, but he's been selected for the school senior rugby team which involved a trip to France, and the school hockey team which involved a trip to Spain <outs self>

Funded by us, natch hmm

So there is no way he is going to Paris for a r&r weekend, especially as he is still underage by two years so will quite possibly have more tours to come.

Topsy, it was, but a very good-natured one grin. There seem to be plenty of bunfights around, I'm sure you will get there in time find one soon [comforting]

HoneyDragon Tue 12-Nov-13 21:48:28

My brother and I aren't allowed to go to Paris. My mums quite strict about about it due to it leading to what she darkly refers to as "incidents".

It took some persuasion to convince her that disneyland isn't technically paris, because it's the land of disney to stop her contacting border control last summer.

Tee2072 Tue 12-Nov-13 21:59:08

Um, aren't you an adult Honey?

I happen to like Belfast. A lot. Or I wouldn't be here.

But it has indeed been 2 years.

And here I am posting on another thread that gets interesting as I get ready for bed. I need to start a lark clique thread. Y'all are up too late for me!

Tee2072 Tue 12-Nov-13 21:59:38

Balls. 10 years.

HoneyDragon Tue 12-Nov-13 22:05:25

Yes Tee. I'm 35 and my dbro is 44. Tbf on my mum it is the only sanction she imposes on us with rigour, that and cholesterol checks. grin

Maryz Tue 12-Nov-13 22:08:24

We have a road near us that my mum doesn't want us to drive on. She had a dream years ago that someone close to her was going to die on it sad

Unfortunately where we live it's pretty impossible not to drive on it if you want to go anywhere.

She still mutters about it periodically.

HoneyDragon Tue 12-Nov-13 23:14:41

The muttering is a skill I've yet to master in my parenting arsenal. My MiL though, is brilliant at it grin

RandallFloyd Tue 12-Nov-13 23:22:15

<Whispers - what happens in Paris?>

What happens in Paris, stays in Paris.

HoneyDragon Tue 12-Nov-13 23:30:58

Let's just say getting so drunk you don't notice not one, but two broken bones till the morning, or discovering your 16 year old shared a bed with multiple occupants is not a good thing for a mother to find out.

"I'm not a doctor"

"They were mostly gay"

Are not valid enough reasons to prevent being banned from an entire city, on the grounds it is "bad for you".

Dammit, Honey, I said it stays in Paris angry

Where you there too? blush

HoneyDragon Tue 12-Nov-13 23:34:52

grin they had to find out sometime PDog

RandallFloyd Tue 12-Nov-13 23:38:22

<rushes off to buy plane ticket>
Paris sounds like my kind of place! (Minus the broken bones obvs)

HoneyDragon Tue 12-Nov-13 23:39:47

My mum'll put you on her shit list if you go Randall

Grennie Tue 12-Nov-13 23:40:37

That was a crazy weekend

Maryz Tue 12-Nov-13 23:56:45

dh almost got arrested in Paris once.

At least, he went there for a match. On the plane on the way over they were told it was cancelled and given the option to come straight back, which the sensible ones some of them did.

A few of them stayed on, one of whom thought it would be absolutely hilarious to piss up against the wall of a police station, which is what he used to do at home every Saturday night. Unfortunately the French gendarmes don't have the same type of tolerance as the Irish gardai, and there was a bit of a chase.

He thinks this is an appropriate story to tell to the kids hmm

I once spend a rather exciting afternoon being driven around the 14th arrondissement by the flics searching for a man who had walked up to his gf and punched her in the face then walked off (in front of her little daughter).

These were not friends, btw, just a new acquaintance I was walking down the road with.

The flics told me all about their exchange visits to England, mostly centred around Bournmouth as I far as I could work out. They were all plains clothed cops and we bombed around for a good hour.

Then spent three hours at the hospital looking after her little girl before taking her back to her appartment, where the bastard was sleeping his hangover off on the sofa.

I'm afraid I backed off at that.

RandallFloyd Wed 13-Nov-13 00:02:32

I'm already on my own mum's shit list, what's one more!

HoneyDragon Wed 13-Nov-13 00:04:26

I'm starting to think my mum has a point shock

Tee2072 Wed 13-Nov-13 07:48:07

I'm beginning to think your mother just doesn't want you to have any fun.

I once managed to go to a swingers club by accident in Paris. Not shared that tidbit with anyone other than MN so technically PDog I I'm complying.

Twas, er, eye-opening.
