To think Mr Tumbles is quite possibly the most annoying man ever?

InsomniaczK8 Sun 27-Oct-13 10:17:05

.... yet he seems to be on CBeebies constantly and plays countless characters all of them equally annoying and a little bit creepy. If I met him in real life I would have to fight the urge to give him a slap!

LifeInBlue Sun 27-Oct-13 10:17:52

It's Mr Tumble. And he's brilliant.

PetiteRaleuse Sun 27-Oct-13 10:18:50

YABU. Mr Maker is the most annoying man ever.

I like Mr Tumble, Mister Maker is so irritating.

fanjofarrow Sun 27-Oct-13 10:21:01

I see your Mr Tumble, and raise you The Fat GoCompare Man.

LimitedEditionLady Sun 27-Oct-13 10:21:05

Yabu, that man is amazing.Im in awe of him.I cant find him annoying after reading stories of him lighting up the lives of children and children who rarely speak finding words just because hes there.I think hes great and i hope he stays on tv forever because i think hes someone kids can look up to.

Heartbrokenmum73 Sun 27-Oct-13 10:21:23

YABU simply because without Mr Tumble we wouldn't have the extended Tumble family - Grandad Tumble, Lord Tumble and Cliff Tumble, one of the greatest comedy inventions of our time.

WowserBowser Sun 27-Oct-13 10:21:28

Was going to say the same as Life

Notfastmainlyfurious Sun 27-Oct-13 10:21:45

Agreed, don't get him at all. Just creepy and weird and I hate the way he says 'yeas' it's just yes you Muppet.

Grotbagstwin Sun 27-Oct-13 10:22:12

I agree, I find him so annoying, luckily my ds doesn't like him either and turns off the telly when he comes on.

LimitedEditionLady Sun 27-Oct-13 10:22:25

Ahhh i love mister maker too,not so awe inspiringly but he makes my son smile so thats all gravy.

MsVestibule Sun 27-Oct-13 10:23:30

Are you talking about Mr Tumble, who is only in Something Special, or Justin, who plays Mr Tumble and is also the main character in Gigglebiz?

Either way, YABU. My children loved Something Special and as it was/is on at 9.45 on a weekend morning, it meant my DH and I were guaranteed 15 minutes Special Time wink.

AnyFuckersBigHat Sun 27-Oct-13 10:23:39

It's the bleeding awful Gigglebiz characters I detest.

The tumble clan I can tolerate

firawla Sun 27-Oct-13 10:27:38

YABU he is brilliant, if you don't like him then just turn the TV off but something special is a great resource for children who sign. Makaton & other signing resources are really quite expensive and you can actually learn loads, in a really child friendly format, from Mr tumble! It's really good to see signing on tv being normalised for children. He does speak slowly - some children need that. Good for you if yours don't. I love him!!

DizzyBlonde80 Sun 27-Oct-13 10:33:16

I love Mr Tumble, can't stand Mr Bloom!

PseudoBadger Sun 27-Oct-13 10:35:23

The name 'Cliff Tumble' has just clicked for me. Genius grin

FreakinRexManningDay Sun 27-Oct-13 10:37:59

I think he's brilliant and I would like to see more programmes include children of all abilities.

Idespair Sun 27-Oct-13 10:38:54

He is a genius
I love him

I don't mind him but hate the silly voice. They've changed the theme tune of something special and it's all about 'friends'. I hate hate hate the way he sings it.

decaffwithcream Sun 27-Oct-13 10:41:20

Sounds like you are talking about Justin Fletcher rather than Mr Tumble.

Turn on something else for your children if you don't like him. Have no real interest in Gigglebiz myself.

But the Something Special programme with Mr Tumble makes a hugh difference to some children with special needs. It's very rare for them to see their own lives and children like them depicted on screen for a start. Instead of seeing children doing things they can't do.

It also brings signing into the mainstream.

And I think it makes a big difference in normalising disability for young children, who are hopefully growing up to be the generation which will have a far better and less predujiced view than our generation or those before us.

Certainly a lot of children we meet understand that my son signs " like Justin does"

I find the programme an incredibly positive development. And there aren't that many of those these days.

InsomniaczK8 Sun 27-Oct-13 10:41:23

I don't find Mr Maker annoying but I agree with the comment about the Go Compare man. I'm not knocking Something Special I think its great to teach kids about diversity from a young age and my daughter loves it, but that doesn't change the fact I find Mr Tumbles incredibly annoying!

decaffwithcream Sun 27-Oct-13 10:42:12

Cliff Tumbles voice is very enjoyable.

pianodoodle Sun 27-Oct-13 10:49:58

I think Justin Fletcher is one seriously, seriously talented man - no matter how irritating you find Mr Tumble!

cg13 Sun 27-Oct-13 10:56:44

What decaff said. My dd sits with avid attention learning the signs. She has a cousin who "has no words" so this is really important to us.

caruthers Sun 27-Oct-13 10:57:54

My Grandchildren love Mr Tumble.
You are obviously being very unreasonable!

StinkyElfCheese Sun 27-Oct-13 11:07:29

he's doing panto near us this year ... kids are so excited smile

SomethingOnce Sun 27-Oct-13 11:10:56

I can't bear the stereotyping that Justin's characters rely on.

Children are very acute observers.

InsomniaczK8 Sun 27-Oct-13 11:14:27

Ok so it looks like I am being unreasonable. I will endeavour to watch Something Special with appreciation for the wonderful messaging and educational aspects of the program rather than focusing on my feelings towards Mr Tumble. Hopefully one day I will even grow to love him too! grin

Fakebook Sun 27-Oct-13 12:27:42

YABU! We love Mr Tumble in our house! My Dad loves him too. Gigglebiz is appealing to young and old, and is a really good introduction to comedy and understanding jokes and puns for young children IMO. Dd has learnt many a cheesey joke from Gigglebiz grin.

BruceWillisLovesMe Sun 27-Oct-13 12:28:38

I used to hate him too but grew to love him. Something Special is one of dd's favourite programmes so we watch every day (sometimes twice!). I live in fear of cbeebies stopping showing it!

propertyNIGHTmareBEFOREXMAS Sun 27-Oct-13 12:28:42

He is Fab. Genuinely kind and gentle with the children on his Something Special show. Agree that he is really helping to bring disabilities into 'mainstream' normality for young children. I think he is doing a worthwhile job.

ElleBellySkellington Sun 27-Oct-13 12:48:18

I like Justin Fletcher.
I love Mr Tumble
I really love wink Lord Tumble

Pobblewhohasnotoes Sun 27-Oct-13 13:00:10

My 20 month old loves Mr Tumble. We get demands of Tumble Tumble Tumble in our house.

The most irritating man on cbeebies is Grandpa.

saulaboutme Sun 27-Oct-13 13:00:38

I think he's great. Have you heard about the child who spoke for the first time to him? Since then he has a place in my heart, I think his characters are funny.

ChilliJo Sun 27-Oct-13 13:00:59

NotYoMomma Sun 27-Oct-13 13:01:16

he is fab

neontetra Sun 27-Oct-13 13:09:57

I used to find him annoying but, like others, have grown to admire him, and I do think some of the sketches on Gigglebiz quite funny (it's like a clean Little Britain). Dd, 18 months, loves singing the theme tune : "nananana" etc. Dh doesnt understand our enchantment!
The person I find really annoying on cBeebies is Chris on Show Me Show Me. I find his comedy voices really grating. I quite like Poy, though.

Ham69 Sun 27-Oct-13 13:26:34

YANBU. Justin is THE most annoying man on TV. He speaks and sings through his nose and his characters seem to have very similar expressions. Thank God I don't have to suffer him at Panto for the third time running. He is originally from the area I live in but the theatre can 't afford him this year. My DC have never been bothered about him though do turn Gigglebiz up just to annoy me. My friend's husband was at Uni with him snd he used to strut around in tracksuit bottoms and jazz shoes. Barf.

neunundneunzigluftballons Sun 27-Oct-13 13:29:20

Clearly OP you are unfamiliar with Sportacus aka the most annoying man ever.

Astr0naut Sun 27-Oct-13 13:37:36

See, after seeing Mr Tumble on BBC breakfast once, where he said he'd love to do Hamlet one day, I imagine him secretly gritting his teeth every time he gets into one of his GIgglebiz characters.

I think he grows on you. 4 years of being bombarded by Justin's creations and I think he's sheer genius for small people.

Re: Mr Bloom.
I would.

Thewalkingdeadkr Sun 27-Oct-13 13:37:44

Gigglebiz is little Britain for toddlers.

I love Justin and so does my dd. she is partially deaf and signs so she gets very excited at seeing it on tv and joins in with the signs.
My niece filmed something special with him a few years ago and it's still shown on tv. Apparently he is as good with the kids between filming.

Astr0naut Sun 27-Oct-13 13:39:39

Yy to annoying grandpa. I wish his sister would trip on him when he's got his thinking cap on, therby squashing him flat, hitting her head and dying in the process and allowing only one more episode of grandpa: Grandpa in his coffin.

Ham69 Sun 27-Oct-13 13:39:47

Me too AstrOnaut grin

Ham69 Sun 27-Oct-13 13:43:00

About Mr Bloom that is smile

neontetra Sun 27-Oct-13 13:46:45

Yes, Grandpa is horrible. He puts huge responsibilty onto his grandson all the time, against grandson's will ("Not the shrinking cap, Grandpa!")

tolittletoolate Sun 27-Oct-13 13:47:33

I find him very annoying and you can't get away from the fact he is bloody everywhere on cbeebies. I reckon he must have incriminating photos of someone high up in the bbc wink
However from reading about him in other threads on this post if he is genuinely nice in real life then fair play to him

FeckOffCupofBatBlood Sun 27-Oct-13 13:50:31

Something special is fine, Justin's house is the most irritating thing ever, self indulgent vanity vehicle.

firawla Sun 27-Oct-13 13:51:49

I hate Granpa!

WhereIsMyHat Sun 27-Oct-13 13:52:28

I really like him. Cliff tumble is hilarious.

WhereIsMyHat Sun 27-Oct-13 13:55:42

Oh god, sportacus was awful and that blonde lady off tikabilla. I'm glad those two no longer show in normal waking hours.

BruceWillisLovesMe Sun 27-Oct-13 14:08:06

Oh, I agree about Justin's House! I can't stand the bit where him and Robert decide who should be answering the door and Robert is basically his slave. I prefer SS's version of Justin!

MiaowTheCat Sun 27-Oct-13 14:08:50

I have to turn Mr Maker off or the DDs will be coming out with phrases such as "It's PVA glue you twat" and "stick yer gloopy glue up your arse you gurning moron"

Mr Tumble I have set to Sky+... hate Gigglebiz though and turn the TV off if that comes on.

Geckos48 Sun 27-Oct-13 14:10:27

Mr Tumble has received an OBE for his work with disabled children and, more importantly, his work in bridging the gap between the disabled and non-disabled children.

The man is a legend, YABU

pigletmania Sun 27-Oct-13 14:12:24

My dd6 who has ASD used to love him, he s great with Chidren who have SN, if children like him that's te main thing.

123Jump Sun 27-Oct-13 14:21:23

DS3 is 14 mo, and he puts his hand to his mouth and attempts to shout "Mr Tumble"! We do makaton too, so it's great for learning and practice sing signs.
Wasn't there someone on here that had, ahem, been intimate with Justin?
(lowers tone)

ElleBellySkellington Sun 27-Oct-13 14:33:00

I would LOVE someone to kiss and tell on Justin!

I absolutely love Justin Fletcher, I let DD watch tv during her dinner sometimes just so I can watch Gigglebiz. Keith Fitt cracks me up.

Tensixtysix Sun 27-Oct-13 14:39:45

Love all his characters. Cheers me up no end :-)

BonaDrag Sun 27-Oct-13 14:50:38

Mr Tumble is fantastic. Now Me Too is the most annoying programme on television. Especially granny cunting Murray.

123Jump Sun 27-Oct-13 15:03:19

Agree BonaDrag, it is unbearable!

LimitedEditionLady Sun 27-Oct-13 15:03:21

Bonadrag yes you are very right!me too is the most irritating, the first time i watched it,to be fair it was at about five in the morning,i felt like i was being tortured.its absolutely dire.

roundtable Sun 27-Oct-13 15:19:45

Apparently Justin Fletcher is a bit of a ' ladies man'...hmm.

I love something special though. It's a huge tool in normalising children with disabilities and ds loves it.

Grandpa in my Pocket gives me the rage though. It is so sexist and Grandpa is a deceitful, manipulative arse. Only the grandson is allowed in on the secret not his sister, his daughter or his granddaughter. Wanker.

He is always punishing people and spying on them but pretending to be infirm and needing his bed. I would like Jason to break the cycle.

Yes i have been watching too much cbeebies recently.

stillenacht Sun 27-Oct-13 15:29:33

My DS2, with autism, learnt to speak because of Something Special. Aged almost 4. He still loves it aged 10.

The man, producers etc etc are Gods as far as I am concerned.

ElleBellySkellington Sun 27-Oct-13 15:31:04

I hate everything about Grandpa in my pocket. Worst.Programme.Ever.

jumperooo Sun 27-Oct-13 15:32:01

The most irritating tv thing ever is Mr Blobby.

TotallyAddictedToLurking Sun 27-Oct-13 15:33:38

I Love Justin and all of his characters.

I love watching my little nephew light up when he come on. He shouts 'Mr Tumble!'

He is 21 months and has learnt some of the signing.

It's great that he has watched it from a very early age, as he has seen a variety of disabilities and he will not have a prejudiced view like perhaps other generations have.

TheRobberBride Sun 27-Oct-13 15:40:39

My 2 year old loves him. She signs 'Mr Tumble' and points at the TV when he comes on.

And Justin Fletcher does amazing work with special needs children.

YY to Grandpa- emotionally abusive IMO.

And Granny Murray is awful too. She's about 35 FFS.

HappyHippyChick Sun 27-Oct-13 17:57:56

YY to Grandpa- emotionally abusive IMO.

^ This! I hate this program, how is it right to teach kids to keep secrets that make them unhappy/uncomfortable? Jason hates it when grandpa puts on his shrinking cap, but still doesn't tell anyone.

<far too invested in cbeebies>

angelabbie Sun 27-Oct-13 18:11:47

I took my 17 year old special needs daughter to see his live show. She was so happy and it made her year. I also fell in love with him just a tiny bit. He really made time to get out in the audience and interact with as many kids as possible. It was a fab show, not over priced and he actually has a decent voice.

pigletmania Sun 27-Oct-13 18:24:47

Aww angel that is wonderful, Justin is really great with the children and they love him, thats the main thing. It comforted dd in times of anxiety and distress and I could have a 10 min tea break

thehorridestmumintheworld Sun 27-Oct-13 18:27:13

Love Mr Tumble too for me the most annoying TV show is the new series of Angelina Ballerina the cgi Americanised version grr.

BurlyShassey Sun 27-Oct-13 18:31:30

we love Cliff Tumble too grin.

RightInTheKisser Sun 27-Oct-13 18:38:34

Mr Tumble is amazing! We love him here.

Justin is also the voice of Jake on the Tweenies

Papyrus02 Sun 27-Oct-13 18:47:26

Yes - Angelina is terrible. Or as DH said yesterday "a sanctimonious, smug pile of shit".... Chloe's Closet runs it a close second.

I like Mr Tumble and all 'Justin' shows. I quite often feel slightly weepy when watching Something Special. When you see the reaction of the children it's heartwarming. Also love Arthur Sleep on Gigglebiz.

Nanny0gg Sun 27-Oct-13 18:48:36

How can anyone like Mr Maker?

<looks back fondly on the days of Tony Hart and Morph>

Mr Tumble is lovely, but I do miss Sid now he's only on Let's Play.

BeforeTheWorst Sun 27-Oct-13 18:56:55

Ha "watch and learn bains, watch and learn" I love Keith fitt on gigglebiz. My 2 year old likes something special but likes to watch "na na" with his big brother who is 9. Currently I am subjected to peppa pig on peppa pig month!

BeforeTheWorst Sun 27-Oct-13 18:58:06

Oh and I love that look Dina Lady does when she introduces Tommy! Ha ha. I think I need to get out more!

DziezkoDisco Sun 27-Oct-13 19:11:22

Whilst I love what he has done in bringing SNs into the main stream, for which I think he is brilliant, I have heard many accounts of him being a moody bastard in rl.

My kids were on justins house and he didnt once speak to the audience of camera, whereas robert was very friendly.

NameChange70 Sun 27-Oct-13 19:15:29

Yabu. If you saw my 6 year old autistic son watch him you would change your mind in a flash ;-)

stillenacht Sun 27-Oct-13 19:16:01

Snap Namechange70smile

On the Tumble/Tumbles point: Grandpa Tumble was shouting for Dr Tumbles this morning <pedant>

I can never remember the signs but I do know 'pirate ship'...

CrapBag Sun 27-Oct-13 19:52:27

Ok, I'll be in the minority too but OP, YANBU.

I am sooo fed up with the amount of shite characters that he comes out with, none of which are remotely funny. I can only stand him when he is Justin Fletcher, none of his Tumble spin offs or gigglebiz shitey characters. Unfortunately DD likes him.

I am very annoyed that DD says "scuter" a la aunt Polly instead of scoter like a normal person. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

idiuntno57 Sun 27-Oct-13 20:28:34

Justin Fletcher is a god amongst men.

that is all.

Bakingtins Sun 27-Oct-13 20:32:19

I have seen Mr Tumble live. Twice.

SigmundFraude Sun 27-Oct-13 20:35:42

I'd do Lord Tumble.

"Would you like a fumble Lord Tumble"

"Uh, yeeeeeeuuuuussss'

Bubbles1066 Sun 27-Oct-13 20:39:35

I like Lord Tumble too! I think YABU, I found Justin really annoying to start with but he's grown on me. I think he's really talented and seems like a nice guy. And I've been known to laugh at Gigglebizz I'm ashamed to say.

carvedpumpkin Sun 27-Oct-13 20:58:34

YABU (as I'm sure you know now!) he is amazing. I have a total not so secret crush on him! And something special is fantastic, today's episode was tear inducing when a small child was so ridiculously excited to see Justin arrive at his doctors appointment!

mymatemax Sun 27-Oct-13 21:01:17

I find him annoying but then its aimed at kids, TBh i'd be a bit worried if I were his biggest fan.
Although I did learn a fair bit of makaton from him but even ds2 (who is disabled) who was a fan has outgrown him

hazeyjane Sun 27-Oct-13 21:26:53

Commandersheppard - pirate is my ds's favourite sign at the moment, he walks around with his hand over one eye, bumping into things!

Love Gigglebiz, can't stand Justin's House, Something Special is brilliant.

Greenfircone Sun 27-Oct-13 22:22:27

I was going to write almost your exact post Bubbles. I didn't like Justin at first but I've read interviews he's done and if seems really genuine in his passion for children's telly. I despise Jake on Tweenies though and bloody Zingzillas that he does voices for.

ToddleWaddle Sun 27-Oct-13 22:33:14

Really dislike Grandpa, Rhyme Rocket characters and the Sailor one. Can't remember what it is called as turn off ASAP!

SunshineMMum Mon 28-Oct-13 08:46:01

YABU Amazing for those of us with children that can't or couldn't speak.

BurlyShassey Mon 28-Oct-13 17:36:02

grampas vile-the house is lovely though!
we love mr maker too but I miss Neil Buchanan on art attack and Tony Hart too.

Justins house does me in but DC loves it, so that's whats important.

the Xmas SS gets me every time. the kids singing away in a manger with Justin .

and when they get so excited when they see him. even stones cry then!
annoying Aunt Polly though when 'she' says 'Mr Tiumble'.

hes a hero in chez Shassey.

gigglebiz IS annoying but we love Keith Fit, the mumbling farmer, and Arthur Sleep.
