My dd is currently fast asleep gripping tightly to a superflex bendy ruler as in cuddled up to it confused.
She has a billion teddy bears, this is the third night this week she has been asleep clutching the ruler which she has not used at all during the day.
AIBU to think she is a bit odd grin

Poshnosh Sat 12-Oct-13 22:51:41

That is odd!!

Mine are pretty normal. Dd1 is covered by 2 huge teddies and dd2 has 5 of her blankies (filthy things that are in need of a wash) and 2 huge teddies.

Remember a 2yo taking plastic duck to bed with him

MsWilliamTheBloody Sat 12-Oct-13 22:54:26

There was a child at DS's playgroup who never turned up without his small metal teapot.

One of those café ones that spill the tea all over the place.

DS1 used to take the Happyland Granny to bed. He now takes a torch, or Batman or a Star Wars character. The others take blankies/teddies.

MsWilliamTheBloody Sat 12-Oct-13 22:55:07

And DS had a hat called Blim Blim Chicken Hat which he refused to part with.

A friend's dc used to sleep in his cot with his hands through the bars on top of her hoover. She refused to let him have it in the cot with him to his misery. grin

Ds, 6, goes to bed with 'noo noo' - one of those taggy things aimed at newborns. Not that odd bit despite having noo noo since he was boen he never gav it a second glance or in fact a name untik a year ago, and now he's decided they are inseparable hmm

OhThePlacesYoullGo Sat 12-Oct-13 23:01:50

DP used to sleep with his Star Wars video box set...

FreakinRexManningDay Sat 12-Oct-13 23:02:38

Dd3 goes to bed with a glow in the dark rubber skeleton from Halloween three years ago. His name is Bookey (rhymes with spooky which dd was trying to say).

phoolani Sat 12-Oct-13 23:02:48

My brother used to go to sleep every night clutching a blue plastic tray of matchbox cars. Ds goes to sleep at the minute clutching various Lego figures (changed according to which are in favour that day).

pixwix Sat 12-Oct-13 23:04:11

Ds1 (now16) went through a phase of taking a wooden spoon to bed to snuggle up to...

pmsl at the hoover though! grin

vjg13 Sat 12-Oct-13 23:06:56

My daughter had an old Gymboree dress with a very large label which she used to rub! It was called Wibbly!

bellamysbride Sat 12-Oct-13 23:07:17

DD 2yrs insists in taking her swim nappy to bed.

PelvicFloorClenchReminder Sat 12-Oct-13 23:09:44

When my DS was about 2 he took the bath plug to bed with him every night.

pixwix Sat 12-Oct-13 23:10:43

The bath plug! grin

curlycat Sat 12-Oct-13 23:12:58

When ds was younger he used to take the wee metal matchbox cars with him. We had to count them in then count them out again once he was sleeping - missed one once and her woke up with the imprint of it on hus face!

monkeymamma Sat 12-Oct-13 23:13:49

Ds first comfort toy was his sun hat. He had to be wearing it or there ws outright refusal to go to bed. It's now diggers or tractors, they are hard and plastic and look soooo uncomforting!

whois Sat 12-Oct-13 23:32:21

The bath plug? That's ace!

hiddenhome Sun 13-Oct-13 00:01:22

Ds1 used to sleep with a small rubber skeleton he called 'Skertalin' smile

My toddler likes to take a large hardback book to bed with her. But she has thought this all out, as she uses it to bash herself on the head with when she feels herself falling asleep....

crimsonwitch Sun 13-Oct-13 03:39:06

Ds1 (5) wears his dads fur lined dear stalker type hat to bed. It looks so funny on his wee head.

PervCat Sun 13-Oct-13 03:49:08

Mine used to take his bike helmet. He wanted to be a test cricketer you see

MrsMook Sun 13-Oct-13 04:32:35

Trainset.

He's ended up taking some to play with in the changing rooms at swimming. Made a change from peepo in the lockers.

His regular is his Donkey. Donkey is with me tonight as he was confiscated as DS repeatedly refused to settle. (Didn't seem fair to deprive donkey of his hugs for the night)

DD1 is relatively normal, she has teddies

DD2 on the other hand...this morning she came for a cuddle, and after when I was sorting her bed we discovered under her cover:

1x elc saucepan
All of the talking Toy Story characters
Winnie The Pooh encyclopedia
4x pants (clean)
1x onesie
Her blankie

hmm

Fifibluebell Sun 13-Oct-13 10:56:44

My DS is 2 he slept in sunglasses all summer wouldn't fall asleep without them hmm screaming my gllllaaaaaasssses at the top of his wingey voice if he didn't have them!

daisychicken Sun 13-Oct-13 11:03:27

Min have taken all sorts to bed but the most memorable was ds1 - he was about 2 and had got out of bed to go and get one of my shoes... we went up to check on him and he was fast asleep holding my shoe very tightly!! I have a (very blurred as it was dark) picture somewhere! grin

Purplefrogshoe Sun 13-Oct-13 11:13:39

My DC used to go to bed with 3 toy dyson hoovers and dyson catologues

Tanith Sun 13-Oct-13 11:20:17

DD raided the laundry basket, once when she was about 12 months, and refused to be parted from one of DH's smelly socks! She growled when I tried to take it, so she ended up with it in bed. Finally got it off her when she fell asleep.

She's 4 now and her bedtime "cuddlies" have included a large matchbox car, a plastic hairband, an acorn from the playground at school, a large flat stone, and a pair of sparkly play shoes.
As well as Pink Cat, White Bunny, Dolly and Teddy.

I was going to be so strict about bedtime toys... <sigh!>

StinkyElfCheese Sun 13-Oct-13 11:27:32

DT2 took a tin of meatballs to bed with him every day on holiday and it stayed about his person for the whole week smile

Thesimplethings Sun 13-Oct-13 13:13:20

Ds1 age 3 goes to bed with empty infacol bottles - one for each hand and whichever toy is his favourite that day hmm

DS1: Toy catalogues or an Ikea catalogue...
DS2: One dummy in each hand and one in his mouth.

A friend's DS could not be separated from his Mum's black lace and silk sexy nightie. A little embarassing smile

Lilicat1013 Sun 13-Oct-13 14:14:49

My older son has gotten attached to the little foam Alphablocks that were free with the Alphablocks magazine. He has about a billion of them because they keep giving them away with the magazine. He likes to spread them out all across his bed and sleep in a ball in the tiny space remaining. He inevitably rolls on them in his sleep and they get stuck all over him.

I did try to tidy them up once and he went nuts so now they only get picked up once a week when I change his sheets.

My younger son has a dummy and taggie blanket, so he is normal for now.

JollyScaryGiant Sun 13-Oct-13 14:17:03

DB used to take a pair of jeans.

DS has a small digger, a lantern and at the moment a Claas tractor catalogue. Yesterday it was a Kramer loader catalogue.
