My DD loves this film and... So do I grin.

AIBU to pick her up and twirl her about during the film while singing "dance magic dance" while she breaks her heart laughing smile

All together now.. You remind me of the babe, what' babe? The babe with the power. grin

Sokmonsta Sun 25-Aug-13 21:29:53

What power?

I love, love, love this film too. I have the soundtrack on my iPod and dance along with my babies smile

SomethingSuitablyWitty Sun 25-Aug-13 21:30:48

Hoodoo? You do!

maddening Sun 25-Aug-13 21:30:49

the power of voodoo

nickelbabe Sun 25-Aug-13 21:31:28

yanbu of course!

you can't do an aibu if you know no one can disagree.

The power of voodoo...

YANBU. I love Bowie and his sock in Labyrinth. Plus it's just a bloody brilliant film.

DizzyPurple Sun 25-Aug-13 21:32:12

The power of the babe!
Excellent film. Do you just like him for those tight tights though??

VivaLeBeaver Sun 25-Aug-13 21:32:31

I love it too.

Someone stopped me the other week and said my dog looks like Sir Didymus. They're right, he does!

CustardOmlet Sun 25-Aug-13 21:33:23

BEST FILM EVER

I love dressing my son in his red stripy pjs, looks so cute!

MacaYoniandCheese Sun 25-Aug-13 21:34:01

YANBU.

KittyVonCatsworth Sun 25-Aug-13 21:34:27

Oh those tights. Beat still my pulsating pussay! I love this film, as does my daughter, which is how the whole Bowie crush started with her. And even now she loves the tights. Oh, she is 18 btw!

HearMyRoar Sun 25-Aug-13 21:35:35

I have always thought the one major flaw to the film was Sarah's completely unbelievable decision to turn down david bowie the goblin king. I mean seriously!? What an idiot grin

Babybunny88 Sun 25-Aug-13 21:35:57

Oh no it's not the tights at all (a bit) it's his hair. And his voice. wink

haggisandneeps Sun 25-Aug-13 21:37:32

My favourite film ever!

The ballroom scene <sigh> I would kill to be Sarah envy

Babybunny88 Sun 25-Aug-13 21:37:36

Would give anything to be Sarah during the ball room scene. I wish it lasted a bit longer smile

YANBU!

I love him and this film is to blame for my obsession.

I recently watched The Man Who Fell to Earth, didn't really understand what was going on half the time but loved it purely because he was so bloody beautiful, if not a total junkie at that point.

Have also watched 2 documentaries about him this year, I'm a tad obsessed.

I'm 34 nearly 35 I waa born a musical decade too late!

Where's JarethTheGoblinKing these days?

Babybunny88 Sun 25-Aug-13 21:47:38

Jareth the goblin king uses mn? shock

smile

MeAndMySpoon Sun 25-Aug-13 21:49:49

I will admit to buying a rather posh red and white striped babygro for my first son, and using it again with DS2, because it was essentialy a Toby outfit. grin

Bowie rocks, now and forever more. Jareth is totally my bitch. grin

Oh yes, haven't seen her around much though BUT I'm not as active on the site as I used to be.

I wish I'd chosen a Labyrinthian NN when I NC'd sad

brightnearly Sun 25-Aug-13 21:52:40

YANBU at all!!!!

Northernexile Sun 25-Aug-13 21:56:32

Totally reasonable!

ArtexMonkey Sun 25-Aug-13 21:58:47

Yanbu at all.

My 3yo ds was jareth the goblin king for Halloween last year. If it wasn't such a ballache uploading pictures from an iPad I'd show you, he looked ACE.

Silverfoxballs Sun 25-Aug-13 22:00:28

He didn't manipulate his balls apparently, I was very annoyed to find that out. The crystal ones I hasten to add.

Babybunny88 Sun 25-Aug-13 22:00:44

Artexmonkey that is so adorable!

Figgygal Sun 25-Aug-13 22:03:52

Love it!!!!!!!

Babybunny88 Sun 25-Aug-13 22:04:25

Silverfox yes I watched that in the documentary. I would have gladly manipulated his crystal balls.

ArtexMonkey Sun 25-Aug-13 22:21:26

Has that worked?jesus this is a faff and a bloody half this here photo malarkey.

Refoca Sun 25-Aug-13 22:25:48

Yanbu - come inside and have a cuppa tea ;-) could quote it all day long (though please excuse me for gettig them half wrong, haha! I thought it was 'mind, you're the babe' for years!)

I drive my DH nutty with quotes, he just doesn't understand how I like it so much!

ArtexMonkey Sun 25-Aug-13 22:29:13

Exsqueeze me babybunny btw, but am I right in thinking from the numbers at the end of your username you weren't even BORN when Labyrinth came out? Cripes I feel like an old gimmer.

CelticPromise Sun 25-Aug-13 22:29:24

Yanbu. That is all grin

. ....documentary? Which one?

The two I've seen focussed on his music and not his film career.

RussianBlu Sun 25-Aug-13 22:31:47

Love the film, so long since I saw it.

DizzyPurple Sun 25-Aug-13 22:32:48

My nephew is named after that baby. Toby!

BabsAndTheRu Sun 25-Aug-13 22:36:24

I saw that film at the cinema when it first came out, man do I feel old now. Agree with the other posters about Sarah turning The Goblin King down. I remember my mum and her friend totally drooling over Bowie the whole way through as well as me and my mate.

ArtexMonkey Sun 25-Aug-13 22:41:52

Babs, I went to see it too, twice grin me and my friends didn't quite get WHY we liked jareth, we just knew we did.

BabsAndTheRu Sun 25-Aug-13 22:43:36

Oh no that reads totally wrong, my friend and I were also drooling over Bowie, not my mum and her friend drooling over us, this explanation is just making it worse now.

acer12 Sun 25-Aug-13 22:43:36

I have an uncle that was in the ball scene with a mask on!

Love David Bowie full stop!

VerySmallSqueak Sun 25-Aug-13 22:45:07

Never seen it.

I really must,must'nt I? (excellent English there)

Does my memory serve me properly in believing David Bowie was in a rather excellent film "Merry Christmas,Mr Lawrence" ?

Babybunny88 Sun 25-Aug-13 22:46:05

Artex- haha yes I am only 24 but in love with the film and now my dd is too.

Tootaboo- not a documentary as such, it was 'making of the labyrinth', at the end of the film when I bought the DVD. Lots of info smile

BabsAndTheRu Sun 25-Aug-13 22:48:43

Artex, I've just googled what year it came out, 1986. I was 14 at the time. We were allowed to go to the movies ourselves but mum and her friend came as well as thought it would look obvious if they went without kids that they were just there for Bowie.

ArtexMonkey Sun 25-Aug-13 22:48:51

grin at 'the ball scene', I had to take a minute to work out which you meant then, you know what I'm talking bout.

BabsAndTheRu Sun 25-Aug-13 22:52:02

Babybunny, ignore my post about what age I was when at the cinema to see it. (Must remember to apply even more moisturiser day and night, god I feel old)

BabsAndTheRu Sun 25-Aug-13 22:53:46

Right that's it , looking up Amazon now for the DVD

No way, I've got the DVD but never watched the extras!

I know what I'll be doing tomorrow!

DevonCiderPunk Sun 25-Aug-13 23:00:41

YANBU. Went to a 1980s theme party earlier this year dressed as Sarah & put DS (3) in some red, striped pyjamas!

Babybunny88 Sun 25-Aug-13 23:04:39

Babs- no shame in a persons age smile and definitely get the DVD. And enjoy the Bowie and his balls forever lol.

Tootaboo- don't be afraid to search YouTube as well for laby related things wink not like I do it often all the time. I don't look up pics of jareth on google images either I so do

blush

catinabox Sun 25-Aug-13 23:06:48

It is totally my favorite film ever...i am going to watch it with DS and dance around the room as soon as possible.

Thank you...

Dance magic dance, put that baby spell on me ......................

grin I'd never stoop so low

<closes Google quickly>

Babybunny88 Sun 25-Aug-13 23:08:12

Slap that baby make him free..

Oh dear what awful parents we are allowing our kids to watch this.

catinabox Sun 25-Aug-13 23:13:17

Slap that baby make him free

Is THAT what he is singing.?! I have literally been garbling that line for years. now i know. thank you. smile

but yes, how awful!!

BoredNinja Sun 25-Aug-13 23:20:28

Nothing unreasonable about that! It's a great film.

I always thought it was 'slap that baby, make him pay', which is even worse :-D

Valdeeves Sun 25-Aug-13 23:24:44

I love it too - it's a classic and he is so brilliant in it - and Jennifer Connelly too. They don't make films like that anymore.

Babybunny88 Sun 25-Aug-13 23:26:43

Boredninja- hahahaha! I can just hear the PC brigade kicking up a storm grin

Catinabox- there's always something to learn isn't there smile

RobotHamster Sun 25-Aug-13 23:28:05

I think I might have to make DS watch it again this week

We love it too! Ds cried when Ludo was tied upside down and being hit with sticks the first time we watched it together. I once used my mums fave red lippy to draw arrows on the paving stones at my grandmas house.
(So i could find my way back to the castle/potting shed) She was not happy. I also vowed my baby would be Toby/Tobyetta when i grew up.

Tortoiseonthehalfshell Mon 26-Aug-13 02:17:42

Tobyetta grin

MyBaby1day Mon 26-Aug-13 04:58:41

YES!!, classic film and infact I've been giving it to people for gifts very recently!!. Have a copy on my chair as I type this!. But to your question, oh yes, he was BRILLIANT!!, I also LOVE LOVE the baby-Toby!!, oh he's just too cute! smile. I remember the 1st time I saw it I was glued to my seat!! grin. But I really love puppets a lot too.

MyBaby1day Mon 26-Aug-13 05:01:32

Oh and btw, Toby now has a baby boy of his own, he;s names Sebastian!!.

MyBaby1day Mon 26-Aug-13 05:01:46

he's named

YANBU - nothing more needs to be said! grin

gaggiagirl Mon 26-Aug-13 08:28:21

I have the special edition DVD which I might just make DD watch today.
David bowies leggings eh? Phwooooaaaaaar!

MrsDavidBowie Mon 26-Aug-13 08:32:20

Well I just had to post here due to my name. grin

Dh is very glad you all enjoyed the film, and his crotch.

cjdamoo Mon 26-Aug-13 08:37:01

Its the best kids film EVER.
I have digitised the characters so I could use my emmby machine and DD has The worm Ludo and Sir didymus on various t shirts and Ludo On her cloth nappy along with "smells bad"

As a kid with the other kids on the street we would ALWAYS play labyrinth. As an adult Ludo sits On my bed. My own kids know the film word for word.

TheCountessOlenska Mon 26-Aug-13 08:39:02

Oh we all love it chez Olenska - DD aged 3 ADORES the whole thing, baby DS gets bounced around to the songs (and has many a stripy babygrow), I get to look at David's tights obvs, and me and DH like to quote lines in a comedy David Bowie voice a la Flight of the Concordes grin

daisychain01 Mon 26-Aug-13 08:56:15

Need to consult with MrsDavidBowie before I can possibly comment grin

MrsDavidBowie Mon 26-Aug-13 09:08:22

Have you all watched the Valentines Day video?
No crotches, but still hot.

daisychain01 Mon 26-Aug-13 09:11:03

Sorry MrsDB massive x-post there, I thought I was going to have to trawl around for you all over MN, thank goodness you were here all along grin

MrsDavidBowie Mon 26-Aug-13 09:24:07

Here David is, so am I grin
i am playing The Next Day as I sit here in my jimmies, cup of tea in hand.

I have my DB cut out paper dolls to dress later, and my Iman voodoo doll to attack.

MrsDavidBowie Mon 26-Aug-13 10:10:00

where not here

Sparklymommy Mon 26-Aug-13 10:18:41

Love this film!

Phwoah! Plastic!

Love it!
My DB and I will reel out lines from the movie constantly much to the annoyance of our parents. We're now in our 30s
We've even been known to sit up in to the wee hours with a couple of bottles of wine watching it.

I've tried to find a Toby romper suit for DS for when he's a little bigger (he's 5mo) but have so far failed.
If anyone can post a link to a site where I can get one I would be eternally grateful! smile

FridaKarlov Mon 26-Aug-13 13:54:31

My favourite film!

I'm going as Jareth for Halloween this year. I've got a red stripey onesie for my baby to go as Toby.

MyBaby1day Wed 28-Aug-13 04:43:03

Hoggle!! grin

FreshLeticia Wed 28-Aug-13 07:54:07

Mmmmm, David Bowie............
Yummmmmmmm

darlingdaffodils Wed 28-Aug-13 08:16:07

LOVE that film! I was born the same year it was released but loved Bowie!

pygmyangel Wed 28-Aug-13 10:22:53

At last, others who share my love of this film. I had a video of it recorded off the tv for years as my mother refused to buy videos. Used to watch it every weekend and now have at least 3 copies of the DVD.

My DH and DC's however do not share my interest and my 11 year old DS still has to hide behind a cushion at the red things that pull their heads off.

Dance magic, dance..........Jump magic, jump.......

"Your mother is a fraggin aardvark!"

That line used to crack me up.

You have all seen this, yes?

There is a whole world of bloody marvellous Labyrinth fanfiction out there, if anyone is sad like me interested, much of which features the Crotch in a starring role grin

Will have to read that later, what a talented crotch! grin

BsshBossh Wed 28-Aug-13 12:42:21

Not a fan of Bowie in Labyrinth (though cannot fault his amazing voice) but love love love him in Man Who Fell To Earth - he was beautiful to look at in that.

MrsDavidBowie Wed 28-Aug-13 13:23:36

He was rather tasty in Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence.

I've got the DVD for ds for Christmas, can't wait to watch it with him!

Charliefarlie1192 Wed 28-Aug-13 13:45:59

Bowie/Jareth is MINE

Charliefarlie1192 Wed 28-Aug-13 13:47:54

WorkingtoohardMama - how can you wait that long!

my fave film! grin

has been my fave since i was younger. dh got me a copy on dvd the first xmas before we officially got together. i knew then that he was a keeper grin

BsshBossh Wed 28-Aug-13 14:02:38

Yes, very easy on the eye in Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence too smile His new album is brilliant - such a majestic voice!

WeightyKaty Wed 28-Aug-13 14:14:21

Love the candle on the link - first xmas pressie for my brother!
Going to watch it tonight now due to this thread!

WeightyKaty Wed 28-Aug-13 14:15:44

no i won't be buying a candles as postage is £13!

MrsDavidBowie Wed 28-Aug-13 15:18:53

I play his album at least 3 times a day at the moment.
And watch the Valentine's Day video at least 6.

I obviously have too much time on my hands.

ArtexMonkey Thu 29-Aug-13 11:12:09

Ok, a day late and a dollar short as usual, but ds's jareth outfit should now be visible.

Yay Artex! He is just too gosh darn cute!

ArtexMonkey Fri 30-Aug-13 10:51:18

grin

Cheers dude!

TheNaughtySausage Fri 30-Aug-13 11:20:16

The other night when dd was screaming and wouldn't stop.... I said ... The Words shock blush

But the goblins didn't come and take her away and I didn't get to be Sarah.

I once said The Words when I was babysitting my niece shock. He didn't come <ooh er>

YoniMontana Fri 30-Aug-13 11:39:24

You have no power over me....

Ohhh I could 'do' the words from the start to the end of that film. Luffs it.

MumbleBag Fri 30-Aug-13 12:21:11

YADNBU. I always thought it was 'slap that baby make him pee'!

Manchesterhistorygirl Fri 30-Aug-13 13:26:58

Saw this thread earlier, ds1 is not well so tv day on the sofa and its about time he was introduced to this work of genius.

Nothing at all to do with the stunning David Bowie, nope. He's on my list. Oh yes!

ShelleyGal Fri 30-Aug-13 13:28:36

Found the DVD in sainsburys for £4, showed my 10yo now she loves it as much as me!! We been singing and dancing to magic dance ever since!
