I am a self confessed Honey Boo Boo addict. I am watching it now as I record it so I can never miss it. Yes, I love it that much.

Anyway Mama June and Sugar Bear seem to have a great relationship and so much love for one another and the children.

I just saw her trying on a dress for the wedding commitment ceremony and I thought It was lovely.

They seem like a happy and funny family.

Anyone else going to admit this?

Lilacroses Tue 20-Aug-13 22:11:09

I hope you're not being sarcastic because I agree with you! I saw the trailers for the show and thought "Yikes!" but watched and episode and thought that they were actually a very loving family. I saw the Christmas episode where they dressed up every night for weeks and collected food and gifts to give to charities. I also think Honey Boo Boo is a very interesting child.

jeanmiguelfangio Tue 20-Aug-13 22:16:14

I love it, makes me laugh and sometimes that is just what you need. They seem like nice enough people and its one of those shows you take at face value. Good fun and good entertainment. What more do you need? I thought she looked nice in that last dress

No, not sarcastic. I actually think they are great.

Sugar Bear really loves June.

LeaveTheBastid Tue 20-Aug-13 22:20:25

Oh I love it, love me some forklift foot!

I really like them all. There's a lot of love there.

Lilacroses Tue 20-Aug-13 22:23:09

Oh good, I agree then! Yes, they love each other and are actually very sweet. Honey Boo Boo looked really spoilt on all the trailers but when you watch the show she's not. She's a smart kid.

cardibach Tue 20-Aug-13 22:28:15

We love it here too. Honey Boo Boo makes us laugh with her eccentricity. We feel a bit sorry for Sugar Bear as June can be a bit mean to him, but it is obvious they all love each other. THey have no pretension. Entertaining without requiring laughing at them.

I felt a little sad when SB was admitted to hospital.

RoadrunnerMeepMeep Tue 20-Aug-13 22:36:23

I loved the Christmas one where alana bought a doll make up head for sugar bear for Christmas cos "he loves putting his hands through momma's hair". They seem like a lovely family.

gallicgirl Tue 20-Aug-13 22:38:16

Is it on UK tv now?
I have friends from that area and they do like to poke fun of themselves for watching.

Its on TLC. This channel happens to be the best channel ever!

I love it. So trashy but hilarious. I think it's be ink g sadly clear though poor mama June is really hiding some issues bless her. Alanas great she's so happy and full of fun.

Becoming sadly clear

diaimchlo Tue 20-Aug-13 22:59:25

Another addict here grin

readyforno2 Tue 20-Aug-13 23:01:26

Another addict here too. TLC is my favourite channel

She seemed excited about the ceremony but not so much now. It is like a real fear she has.

pigletmania Tue 20-Aug-13 23:04:04

Which channel is it on? Is it on freeview

No idea if TLC is on FreeView. It should be, its great.

I am an addict too. They seem so happy and to love each other so much. Alana seems very aware and intelligent, and the family are so close.

My DD has it on series link so I have to watch it.

I have to say it's grown on me and I now happily sit and watch.

Alana is a lovely child, how old is she?

I think she might be 7 but not totally sure.

GlitteryShitandDanglyBaubles Tue 20-Aug-13 23:26:45

They're such a sweet family! So they are rednecks - so what?! The loveliest rednecks that I ever did see, purdy much... wink

And I love the 'everybody gotta little bit of gay in em' thang re: Honey Boo Boos Uncle. smile

GlitteryShitandDanglyBaubles Tue 20-Aug-13 23:27:55

In fact it annoys me when people sneer at the family for being fat and 'common.' This is nothing to do with the fact, I am sure, that I am fat and common. Oh no. Pure coincidence. Ahem.

M0naLisa Tue 20-Aug-13 23:28:31

My mate loves this show and has just enjoyed a 'honey boo boo night' at their friends at the weekend lol

I think they are great! I hope the ceremony happens

pigletmania Tue 20-Aug-13 23:43:16

Thanks will have to find out

AaDB Tue 20-Aug-13 23:58:21

I love that they have pet names. I wonder how and when Sugar Bear got his name?

Alana is 7. It made me laugh when she wore false teeth for her pagents. Her adult teeth make her her look much older.

I didn't really understand what the stockpiling was until I watched Extreme Couponing (also on TLC). It is mad to have so much of the same thing.confused

Please can somebody tell me why they wash their hair in the kitchen sink. I think they have two bathrooms. I should think they could have a shower in one of them? Even if they don't, why not wash their hairy over the bath? I'm puzzled.

itsonlyme85 Wed 21-Aug-13 00:14:14

I confess im an addict too grin

PenguinBear Wed 21-Aug-13 01:02:28

Not read every single post so not sure if anyone feels the same but do you not find it all a but 'shouty'?

It just feels too chaotic, loud and out of control. I do watch it sometimes but it's just very 'roar' --especially when they had that awful screeching pig--confused.

I watch loads of other shows on TLC, maybe it will grow on me!

thornrose Wed 21-Aug-13 01:09:36

I love it, there's so much love there. The pig stressed me out, thank god it's gone.

I love the expressions on the new baby's face and the way she is involved in everything they do.

I like it when the camera man interacts with them, very funny.

Lighthousekeeping Wed 21-Aug-13 01:09:46

Ha! When I wrote about this show when it very first came out I was given a right good talking to saying how dare I watch a show that exploits and makes fun of this family. I'm glad to see that some of you have actually watched it and love it as much as I do.

thornrose Wed 21-Aug-13 01:10:22

I'm looking forward to the new show about the "posh" trailer park blush

Sparklymommy Wed 21-Aug-13 08:28:05

I love it! Alana is such an interesting child and June obviously wants the best for her children. So nice to see a family that clearly love each other so much. I do agree that June has some deep seated issues that I really hope someone picks up on and helps her to deal with. Such a refreshing family show!

valiumredhead Wed 21-Aug-13 08:49:34

I had to stop watching after fork lift foot was revealed, yuck.

EstelleGetty Wed 21-Aug-13 08:54:22

I love it. They are such a funny, loving family.

And I just want to pick Alana up and give her a big squoosh, she's adorable! She reminds me of my wee sister.

YeahBuddy Wed 21-Aug-13 08:56:53

I LOVE this show! Especially all the little one-liners Alana comes out with.
'I gotta get this Boo Boo in a tutu' is particular favourite grin

nearlyemptynester Wed 21-Aug-13 08:59:04

My name is nearlyemptynester ....... and I am a ....Honey Boo Boo addict too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thorn Like when June keeps saying Sugar Bear is her second longest relationship when its her longest nd camera man gives up? grin

thornrose Wed 21-Aug-13 09:33:00

Yes yes yes, I couldn't think of any examples last night grin

Their hygiene does leave alot to be desired though. And do the kids go to school because its never mentioned grin

thornrose Wed 21-Aug-13 09:44:32

I block out the "bad" stuff grin

badbride Wed 21-Aug-13 09:46:04

Urgh. Bloody awful programme. But then so is all reality TV: stupid boring TV producers following stupid boring people around with cameras while they say/do stupid boring things in Georgia/ California/ Essex/ Chelsea/ Newcastle etc. What's the point? [curmudgeon icon]

Honey Boo Boo is, however, marginally less ghastly than those Kardashian harridans. I'll give you that. grin

thornrose Wed 21-Aug-13 09:47:14

Oh damn, why did you put this in AIBU OP?

Thorn Because I wasn't sure been a Honey Boo Boo fan was a good thing. Which is why the title asks the question. So far it seems either I am not UR or all of us here are grin

Cant deal with The Kardashians. Have you seen Kims crying faces? grin

thornrose Wed 21-Aug-13 09:55:45

Yes we seem to be hovering under the radar just now!

I'm trying to stick with fluffy threads today!

everlong Wed 21-Aug-13 09:59:00

It was on when we were in America last month. Me and the dc were hooked. DH was not impressed.

IsaacCox Wed 21-Aug-13 10:11:55

We love it. So much so, I've just bought the first series DVD for dh for Christmas grin

I love them all, so funny.

What was the name of that sandwich Pumpkin(?) wanted for her birthday? Pig in a bun?

Something like that. That was all she wanted for her birthday!

Pigzilla I think!

I think we should all go for a pigzilla with them grin

It looked vile grin

valiumredhead Wed 21-Aug-13 11:34:49

I watch just about any crap realty a
Show but this was too much even for me!

valiumredhead Wed 21-Aug-13 11:35:03

Reality show

I also watch Breaking Amish and Sister Wives!

I have no shame

AaDB Wed 21-Aug-13 12:31:14

I couldn't look at forklift foot.envy

Alana has the same way of misunderstanding that June does. Last week, she was arguing with the cameraman/producer.

I didn't like the look of the program. one of my friends said to give it a chance. Like all shows they set things up. I do cringe at a bit of it. They have a lot of love for each other. As puerile as it is, I laughed at the doorknob game.

I cannot abide anything related to the Kardashians. Especially Kim.

Love Real Housewives NY, NJ,OC.

peachactiviaminge Wed 21-Aug-13 13:17:28

June puts up every penny the show makes for the little ones as she says she didn't earn and doesn't deserve it smile

"The family makes about $15,000 to $20,000 per episode, and instead of squandering the money, Mama June has put it into a trust fund for her four daughters and granddaughter. The only way they can withdraw money from the accounts before they’re 21 is for schooling or medical emergencies.

How refreshing to see a family shot from rags to reality star riches and actually handle the money responsibly. The one splurge they’ve made is for a 2005 Ford Expedition SUV, to which June commented, "You're never gonna see me drive a Range Rover or a Mercedes ... I'll drive one if someone else pays for it. Never gonna live above my means."

Mama June doesn’t even leave herself open to temptation -- she set it up so that TLC deposits the money directly into the girls’ trust accounts, so it will be ready and waiting for them when they’re older. She said, "I want my kids to look back and say, 'Mama played it smart. Not like those other reality TV people.'"

thornrose Wed 21-Aug-13 13:56:08

How fab peach I didn't know that.

How about Mob Wives, oh dear lord that is my real guilty pleasure!

TheListingAttic Wed 21-Aug-13 14:13:27

Christmas episode was amazing! I hate the way the show's edited to emphasise the "white trash" thing. They're a sweet, loving, under-educated, caring family. You could do way worse! I'd learn to belch on demand for that kind of warmth! (Yeah, can't make this come out other than patronising - didn't want it to..... Fail....)

EstelleGetty Wed 21-Aug-13 14:13:39

Mama June is a total inspiration for the frugal woman me. She is very pragmatic - feeds her family on what she can afford, and there were no hysterics surrounding Anna's pregnancy, because June made it clear she was going back to school.

I'm going to the US in the autumn and am going to dumpster dive and try to get $1000 shopping for free, a la Extreme Couponing.

valiumredhead Wed 21-Aug-13 14:23:30

Is sister wives on atm? Have I missed it??sad shock

Gypsy Sisters is where I draw the line. Utter drivel!

Valium I have been recording it. I love it!

The third wife is jealous of the soon to be 4th wife!

I got told off on here recently fo liking Honey Boo Boo because she's exploited and will come to a tragic end or something. Personally I think that those children will end up fine because they come from such a strong and loving family. Except maybe for Pumpkin after being struck by lightning grin

CustardOmlet Wed 21-Aug-13 16:45:25

Pigzilla! Greatest program ever, iv recorded last nights episode and watching it tonight when DS has gone to bed!

Badgers The episode where they mention Pumpkin has been struck by lightning was hilarious.

Kyrptonite Wed 21-Aug-13 16:51:18

I've now series linked it. Just to see what the fuss is about you understand!

EstelleGetty Wed 21-Aug-13 17:11:12

I hope TO GOD Alana dresses up as Elvis for Christmas again.

And I loved when she went with Sugar Bear to choose a ring for June, looked up at him and said "are you nervous?" with her concerned wee face!

AaDB Wed 21-Aug-13 20:40:26

There is a lot of love and happiness in that family. it could be exploitative, but isn't.

I wish it was on every night. Hate waiting til Tuesday

valiumredhead Thu 22-Aug-13 09:49:57

SP-Erhart side is it on? I've seen that series but hopefully the new one will follow!

LegoAcupuncture Thu 22-Aug-13 10:01:37

Love Honey Boo Boo, but my utmost favourite programme is extreme couponing. I want to be an extreme couponer. sad

valiumredhead Thu 22-Aug-13 10:10:39

Erhart?confused I mean what side is it on?blush bloody phone

TLC still valium Not sure what day though. It was on series link grin

Lego I want to go to America and stockpile and do a £3000 shop for 50p

LegoAcupuncture Thu 22-Aug-13 10:50:26

I think we should have a road trip SP over there and see what we can get grin

I need a lesson in Extreme Couponing. I saw the woman the oter week who had shed loads o stuff and she wanted it to cost less than $200 but it came to $217 and she nearly cried. Then she found a load of coupons she'd dropped but it was too late! Oh the drama grin

AaDB Thu 22-Aug-13 22:46:48

They could have better table manners and be cleaner. However, those girls have amazing self confidence. Well done Mama June.
