Humph. sad

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 22:44:58

who not how, that's how upset I am. <sob>

WorraLiberty Fri 16-Aug-13 22:46:21

How is he then?

And how's his family?

grin

NarkyNamechanger Fri 16-Aug-13 22:46:40

Ha ha you snitch!

CaptainJamesTKirk Fri 16-Aug-13 22:46:42

Who is John Taylor?

Lorelilee Fri 16-Aug-13 22:47:07

Eh? What? How? blardy children. He was and, indeed, is blinking gorgeous. They know nowt!

He is some pouty guy with fluffy hair

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 22:47:43

I didn't mean how I meant who. angry He's fine I expect. I have no idea, I haven't seen him since I was 14. sad

RustyBear Fri 16-Aug-13 22:47:45

John Taylor is a guy I worked with in Merton in the 80s.

I thought everyone knew that....

No heard o' him confused

gallicgirl Fri 16-Aug-13 22:48:10

He has improved with age, if anything.

insanityscratching Fri 16-Aug-13 22:48:37

Is it the John Taylor of Duran Duran fame or Queen fame you are asking about Sparkling?

ImpulsePineapple Fri 16-Aug-13 22:48:50

John Taylor was my actual first crush. I would have happily killed Amanda Whatsit.

No need to flounce Sparkling. Just feel sorry they never saw the glory that was JT. Oof.

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 22:48:59

They have come over to my upset thread to taunt me now. <wails> They all fancy Harry Hairstyles.

Thank you Lorelilee

BlackeyedSusan Fri 16-Aug-13 22:49:27

lives in a coal vault does john taylor. (google his house)

Sparkling Not all of us! just those with issues grin

LazyMonkeyButler Fri 16-Aug-13 22:49:53

I did ask an important, yet still unanswered, question on the other thread - is he the bloke that was once married to Amanda de Cadenet?

YANBU though. Anyone who doesn't know who he is is either daft or significantly younger than me angry.

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 22:50:13

No John Taylor in Queen insanity that's Roger. I didn't fancy the Roger in either. grin

NarkyNamechanger Fri 16-Aug-13 22:50:44

Ha ha sp

So sparkling , just how old are you then? smile

ImpulsePineapple Fri 16-Aug-13 22:50:48

SP YOU ARE EVIL bees sick

Mumbledore Fri 16-Aug-13 22:51:18

I thought I didn't know either but I think I do. Duran Duran? am nearly 30 so maybe don't qualify as a young person, hope I do though!

SinisterSal Fri 16-Aug-13 22:51:21

He's our plumber. Fixed the dishwasher last week. I wouldn't say pouty, as such...

John Taylor? confused

NarkyNamechanger Fri 16-Aug-13 22:51:37

I freely admit I have issues and fancy Harry hairstyles

Merylz Fri 16-Aug-13 22:51:40

I know! weird that people can be old enough to have kids but not old enough to know who he is! well, not weird. But in my head it takes a quick re-check of the figures.

ImpulsePineapple Fri 16-Aug-13 22:51:49

this is him SIGH

In fairness. He is a bit scrawny now. I might not.

MacaYoniandCheese Fri 16-Aug-13 22:51:55

They're idiots then. I'm young and know who John Taylor is wink.

CaptainJamesTKirk Fri 16-Aug-13 22:52:28

I just asked DH and he said he was in queen, but I see from this thread he too has no idea who John Taylor is.

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 22:52:30

That is not bloody him SPs. angry

This is him and yes he was married to the awful ADC.

Maca I must be super young then grin

MacaYoniandCheese Fri 16-Aug-13 22:52:52

Oh I would.

ChippingInHopHopHop Fri 16-Aug-13 22:53:00

Who?

ImpulsePineapple Fri 16-Aug-13 22:53:14

Oh god. I'm so old I feel positively queasy/wrong at the thought of Hairstyles.

<cries>

CaptainJamesTKirk Fri 16-Aug-13 22:54:18

Eurgh I wouldn't.

ChippingInHopHopHop Fri 16-Aug-13 22:54:27

Urgh... bleurgh.

He's all yours!!

NarkyNamechanger Fri 16-Aug-13 22:54:29

impulse grin

icecubed Fri 16-Aug-13 22:54:46

yes so would I shock

RustyBear Fri 16-Aug-13 22:54:48

Actually, his name is Nigel...

Cooroo Fri 16-Aug-13 22:54:58

I'm 53 -who???

SandStorm Fri 16-Aug-13 22:55:04

Back in the day I had him all over my bedroom walls... those were the days.

Ugh. That's him?

he looks like he is trying to pull off this look sparkling

Man duck face or what?!

Only JT I know is Mr Timberlake

WorraLiberty Fri 16-Aug-13 22:56:12

I have no idea who he is either? confused

But if I ask after his family pet, will it stop you from flouncing? grin

<< Pushes luck >>

HoneyDragon Fri 16-Aug-13 22:57:04

I well fucking fancy Ben Stiller as ZooLander

WorraLiberty Fri 16-Aug-13 22:57:07

OMG he looks like Adam Sandler with a duck face

I thought only teenage girls did duck faces?? shock

WorraLiberty Fri 16-Aug-13 22:58:25

Oh wait, I've got the photos mixed up.

He's the blonde guy??

Then in that case I personally would grin

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 22:58:53

YY his name is Nigel but we don't need to worry about that. grin

Here he is when I loved him.

I am ancient.

x2boys Fri 16-Aug-13 22:59:14

john taylor from duran duran am I talking bollocks?

PresidentServalan Fri 16-Aug-13 22:59:21

YABU - the only hot one from Duran Duran was ROGER Taylor!

RustyBear Fri 16-Aug-13 22:59:36

Cooroo - so is he...

mummyplonk Fri 16-Aug-13 22:59:58

Saw them at a reunion concert a couple of years ago, they introduced them, one by one...Simon le Bon, funny one with loads of make up then John Taylor...an thousand 40'year old women screamed the house down...including me. Then saw him on the screen, sob, he was so much better in my memory. Of my teenage crushes only Jonny Depp has truly stood the ppphhwwwarr test over the years.

My mum might know who he is, just.

grin

FacebookWanker Fri 16-Aug-13 23:00:50

'Twas always Roger for me (not Queen version)

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 23:00:58

Ben Stiller? What's he doing on my JT thread? angry

MavisGrind Fri 16-Aug-13 23:01:08

Oh god, I used to Love JT. Where are the ignorant fuckers Sparkling? I'll soon put 'em right.

Mind you, I know I'm properly middle aged now as I had a realisation the other day that I'd do all of Take That now. All of 'em.

I used to have standards <sobs, quietly>

Ilanthe Fri 16-Aug-13 23:01:31

I am young (ish) and I know who he is. And if we're lusting after members of Duran Duran, I'll head up the queue for Nick Rhodes.

Lorelilee Fri 16-Aug-13 23:01:51

He is still GORGE trust me . I saw him from row 5 of the SECC Christmas 2011.

RustyBear Fri 16-Aug-13 23:02:58
MacaYoniandCheese Fri 16-Aug-13 23:03:29
MildredIsMyAlterEgo Fri 16-Aug-13 23:03:42

Ooh John Taylor, I was obsessed in love with him as a teenager

I was going to marry him, then that bitch ADC stole him from me

I don't think I ever really got over it sad

SirBoobAlot Fri 16-Aug-13 23:04:15

No idea who he is. But then I'm the same age as SP.

I have heard of Duran Duran though, can I have half a point for that?

Lorelilee Fri 16-Aug-13 23:04:16

Sparking you are NOT old. Mainly because, if you are, I must be.

x2boys Fri 16-Aug-13 23:04:22

simon le bon was the one in the day I realise he is very fat now but them so am I but even so!

crumpet Fri 16-Aug-13 23:04:51

Was John not a bit obvious though?

Had a bit of a thing for Nick Rhodes, but he stayed so damn short as I grew up...

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 23:05:03

The ones for me who have stood the test of time are in no particular order

John Taylor
Kevin Bacon (him from the EE adverts before you ask and Footloose)

But especially him

I knew it would be The Lowe.

Who is it at MNHQ who loves him?

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 23:06:42

Weirdly I wouldn't want to have rude with anyone from Take That, Boyzone, Westlife etc.

MavisGrind Fri 16-Aug-13 23:06:45

John might of been obvious crumpet but he had a hat. Makes all the difference.

Ilanthe Fri 16-Aug-13 23:06:51

The short thing never bothered me, crumpet as we'd have spent all our time horizontal. grin

MacaYoniandCheese Fri 16-Aug-13 23:06:55

Olivia.

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 23:07:09

Is it Olivia Pete?

x2boys Fri 16-Aug-13 23:07:11

oh god rob lowe but what about wayne paric?

GraceK Fri 16-Aug-13 23:07:22

it makes me feel old. Though not as old as when I realised some of the mums in my daughter's year school had only just been born when the previous royal wedding (Chas & Di). Still adore Duran Duran - they're amazing live & the last album was excellent (though the one before that is best ignored). Personally I've always preferred Simon (& Andy's book is more interesting).

crumpet Fri 16-Aug-13 23:07:28

They all got wiped out as soon as Harrison Ford arrived in Star Wars. Never been one to touch him since smile

ExcuseTypos Fri 16-Aug-13 23:07:44

I love, love, loved John Taylor when I was 14.

I once sent in a picture I'd drawn of him into Swap Shop. Duran Duran were coming on and I hoped John would hold up my picture and say how wonderful it was -- and that he wanted to marry the artist--

He didn't. Twas the most disappointing day of my life, I've still not got over the rejectionsad

crumpet Fri 16-Aug-13 23:08:17

(appreciate star wars was 1979 but I came to it a bit late)

MrsDeVere Fri 16-Aug-13 23:08:43

I've just been perving over Joe Strummer on a punk Britannia.

John Taylor is a flouncy nonce.

Ner!

Lorelilee Fri 16-Aug-13 23:08:48

Mr Lowe, is absolutely breathtaking, then and now.

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 23:09:13

Harrison Ford? Harrison Ford? confused

MavisGrind Fri 16-Aug-13 23:09:30

I didn't think so (re Take That) either. Was quite a thunderbolt I can tell you. And Westlife and Boyzone etc can fuck right off.

Never got Rob Lowe. Too pretty. Although I'm a big fan of the West Wing and I quite like it when he's clever..

ImpulsePineapple Fri 16-Aug-13 23:10:47

Think you are the same age as me Sparkling

I was about 10 when he looked like that. I didn't know what I wanted of him. But he made me feel funny.

I moved on to to The One though.

KhloeKardashian Fri 16-Aug-13 23:11:46

John Taylor was lovely when he was younger. ADC the wildchild was very when they married, he was a lot older than her.

Rob Lowe was a dreamboat back in the day.

I think Jonny Depp got better with age, had no interest in him, wonder what he did with his Wyona forever tattoo, he was with Kate Moss too wasn't he?

mummyplonk Fri 16-Aug-13 23:11:49

Just googled Matt Goss and have turned into a 16 year old again, yes Sparkling with you on Rob Lowe, am off to look for Tears for Fears now.

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 23:11:54

RL is perfect Lorelilee. I don't want to take anything away from JT, this is his thread after all but RL has it all.

Flouncy nonce MrsD? grin That's probably a bit true.

NarkyNamechanger Fri 16-Aug-13 23:12:13

I'm going to save this thread so my mum can take a look...

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 23:13:22

Now y'see Patrick Swayze didn't do it for me Impulse. Not even the deleted scene from Dirty Dancing could change my mind. sad

MildredIsMyAlterEgo Fri 16-Aug-13 23:13:27

Permission to say mmmm Robert Downey Jr

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 23:13:57

Thanks for that Narky. <waves to Narky's Mum> grin

Yes it's Olivia! Maybe she will call one of the twins Rob.grin

I think he's got better with age. He's much sexier than Brad Pitt or George Clooney.

KhloeKardashian Fri 16-Aug-13 23:14:14

Mr cartoon Man. grin

NarkyNamechanger Fri 16-Aug-13 23:14:24

My pleasure grin

ImpulsePineapple Fri 16-Aug-13 23:14:25

Matt Goss touched my hand and said "hello pretty" just saying.

Luke Goss, suprisingly, is prettier now though. Poor Fat Matt.

mummyplonk Fri 16-Aug-13 23:14:32

Impulse I saw Morten at Heathrow when I was a teenager he looked like a male model, he got loads of attention.

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 23:15:28

Oh god I thought that was Patrick Swayze not Morten Aha. blush

ImpulsePineapple Fri 16-Aug-13 23:15:35

Is NO-ONE swooning over Morten? You're all dead inside. And I'll take him <runs off>

ImpulsePineapple Fri 16-Aug-13 23:16:06

X-post grin

crumpet Fri 16-Aug-13 23:16:35

Oh yes to Harrison.

Mind you am still pretty word perfect to DD's early albums. And I knew the model who was Rio. She married an Italian prince. Wasn't envious of her life at all, oh no.

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 23:16:40

You can have him and Patrick Swayze from Dirty Dancing Impulse.

LazyMonkeyButler Fri 16-Aug-13 23:16:59

Well, if we are talking about The One, then I offer this.

Ahem.

ImpulsePineapple Fri 16-Aug-13 23:17:17

Always thought Swayze was a bit creepy. God rest his soul etc.

KhloeKardashian Fri 16-Aug-13 23:17:24

When I was 14 Matt Goss gave me a kiss on the cheek and an autograph, when I was outside his flat in Mada vale. me and my friends stalked him and waited outside his flat

SinisterSal Fri 16-Aug-13 23:18:22

I'll be coming for you love anyway

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 23:18:26

I honestly don't know who that is Lazy. Is he from an American Boy Band? I recognise the name.

mummyplonk Fri 16-Aug-13 23:18:28

He touched your hand....envy I wanted his babies. I think his brother is better looking now as well, and quite a good actor.

LazyMonkeyButler Fri 16-Aug-13 23:19:50

New Kids On The Block Sparkling. He was the "bad boy" one grin.

Shame on you for not knowing grin.

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 23:22:19

I am too old to know presumably Lazy. I was probably at work. grin But yes i have heard of NKOTB.

ImpulsePineapple Fri 16-Aug-13 23:22:46

ooh, my New Kid was Jordan

He's actually both not drug raddled hideous and in my age range... <stalks a bit>

feelingood Fri 16-Aug-13 23:23:05

Havn't fucking clue who he is. happy flouncing.

<pats young cheeks like on Asda advert and runs from thread>

MavisGrind Fri 16-Aug-13 23:23:26

Impulse I would swoon over Morton however I too thought that was Patrick Swayze.

I can however remember exactly where I was when I first heard Take On Me. That must have been at least 30 years ago..

cocolepew Fri 16-Aug-13 23:25:17

I was way to cool to like DD in my head. Around that time I was in love with Mel Gibson and Billy Idol.

Lucky escape with old Mel I reckon.

mummyplonk Fri 16-Aug-13 23:25:52

Doh, my laptop is crap I am trying to find a photo of the Addonis that was Nick Kamen was it? Didn't he do the Levi ad in the launderette? Now he would give Harry Styles a run for his money.

cocolepew Fri 16-Aug-13 23:27:24

Oh my. Jordan has aged well.

Never mind Strummer Mrs DeVere, Paul Simonon and those legs are worth perving over.

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 23:27:31

Nick Kamen for you mummy. But not for me. grin

Alisvolatpropiis Fri 16-Aug-13 23:27:45

That was evil SP sad

WilsonFrickett Fri 16-Aug-13 23:27:50

Ahem. I will actually be seeing actual JT tomorrow night at the Book Festival. Jel much, Sparkling?

his books not very good though

ImpulsePineapple Fri 16-Aug-13 23:27:56

Me too Mavis. Was Saturday morning telly. I was a wreck.

It started here

And then I dreamt this

Caff2 Fri 16-Aug-13 23:29:00

I need to tell you all this. I have a signed photo, signed in front of me, of...Moreton Harket. As you were.

SinisterSal Fri 16-Aug-13 23:29:13

Mavis - me too!
(Front room. Lying on carpet colouring in the heads on Dad's newspaper)

cocolepew Fri 16-Aug-13 23:29:23

Nick Kamen <faints> I remember the first time I saw that ad. I was mitching from tech and nearly fell of the sofa.

LazyMonkeyButler Fri 16-Aug-13 23:30:07

Jordan has aged very well, I grant you. But he was always a bit "goody two shoes" for me grin. Likewise Joey.

SinisterSal Fri 16-Aug-13 23:30:25

Oh christ Impulse at that photo. Phew!

I nip away to watch a fight in my street for 5 minutes and it turns into a gimmer older generation thread?!

grin

CaptainJamesTKirk Fri 16-Aug-13 23:30:37

Now that's what I'm talking about impulse, none of this John Taylor nonsense!

MrsDeVere Fri 16-Aug-13 23:30:44

My mate met him a couple of weeks ago coco
Well jell envy

Who is he Impulse? The drawing looks like the guy in the comic book like music video of that song A1 covered.

Lorelilee Fri 16-Aug-13 23:33:25

JT -gorge, RL - gorge, MH - gorge. My ultimate - George.

MavisGrind Fri 16-Aug-13 23:33:50

I was in the spare bedroom of my childhood home. There was a soft light through the grey and red stiped curtains that fell on my extensive collection of J17 magazines....

I ate a pot noodle (a new taste sensation!) and thought wistfully of the Nordic lovelies.

The only difference now is it's my house and the magazine choices. I'm still on the "pwahhor" treadmill.

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 23:33:54

Wilson give him my best. tell him his book was riveting even though it was a huge disappointment. grin

Ooh a fight SPs. Are the tractor nappers back?

Lorelilee Fri 16-Aug-13 23:35:40

I really don't get all these 'youngsters' fancying Harry Styles.

Surely if you fancied one of 1D it would be the lovely Zayn?

HoneyDragon Fri 16-Aug-13 23:36:24

Downey jnr then Lowe.

Still fancy John Lowe.

I have pissed off Simon Le Bon in my past.
<<proud>>

ImpulsePineapple Fri 16-Aug-13 23:36:40

Sparkling They are back, they are playing shit music but nit sure the fighting was them. It was a shit fight and police turned up pretty quick.

I dont know half of this people.

SCOTT FROM 5IVE STILL WINS HANDS DOWN. I WILL BE HIS WIFE!

I felt like I needed to shout that.

I have issues with George Michael's facial hair.

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 23:37:33

I was going to marry him after seeing him in the Careless Whisper video Lorililee Bless him. Got that a bit wrong though. grin

ImpulsePineapple Fri 16-Aug-13 23:37:35

JOHN Lowe? Not Rob? What is this?

Its not me who likes 1D FFS!

I have taste grin

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 23:38:29

I liked Richie from 5ive best. he is Australian now SPs.

John Lowe sounds like a bank manager. grin

KhloeKardashian Fri 16-Aug-13 23:38:43

Impulse, blooming anti ageing skincare add, we are officially old!

ImpulsePineapple Fri 16-Aug-13 23:38:55

Also George Michael, bless him, is gay, mental, and falls out of cars Pete. He's not really a keeper.

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 23:39:24

Ooh perhaps John Lowe is an amalgamation of 2 sexy older men.

mummyplonk Fri 16-Aug-13 23:39:31

George Michael? He was gorgeous Lorelilee, Was unbelievable he was gay, but looking back there were quire a few hints weren't there grin

Sparkling Aren't you too old for 5ive? grin

So George Michael is similar to Brian Harvey from East 17.

He had shit facial hair too.

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 23:40:56

Gay, mental falls out of cars, and crashes them into photo shops. sad

NarkyNamechanger Fri 16-Aug-13 23:41:02

Loving that you're getting all the blame SP grin

ImpulsePineapple Fri 16-Aug-13 23:41:30

I did see a massive line going from the edge of my eye to practically my hairline today. And plucked a hair from my actual areole. I'M ONLY 37.

That's old now isn't it sad

SinisterSal Fri 16-Aug-13 23:41:46

That is the world's greatest video

I loved Brian Harvey! He was my fav East 17-er.

My family still take the piss now.

HoneyDragon Fri 16-Aug-13 23:41:55

mummyplonk did the cover of the Faith album not give you the tiniest clue? grin

KhloeKardashian Fri 16-Aug-13 23:41:56

When ever I think of Harry Hairstyles, I think of this comment from my Mother to my children who announced they liked ID.

"That young larry Sykes, is dating that old one Caroline Flint!" oh how we laughed, and she looked all confused!

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 23:42:13

Well I am officially SPs I don't know how I know them or their songs but I do. And Blue. confused Duncan James was my favourite. blush

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 23:42:57

Brian Harvey fell out of his own car and ran himself over didn't he?

aquashiv Fri 16-Aug-13 23:43:09

John Taylor where is now?

SP- Brian didn't have a lot of competition as the best member did he. grin

Tony was soppy and the other two were just odd!

Duncan?! I was all for Simon. He DJs now and again in a club in town. I have seen posters but I wont visit as I would probably break down and embarrass myself.

NarkyNamechanger Fri 16-Aug-13 23:43:36

He's gay too sparkling

HoneyDragon Fri 16-Aug-13 23:43:39

John though. FFS!!!

<<considers Taylor Lowe hybrid>>

<<or just a threesome>>

ImpulsePineapple Fri 16-Aug-13 23:43:48

Poor George. I'd like to be his friend.

This is why I am single, undersexed, and have many gorgeous men visiting me.

<FAG HAG FACE>

(and also nice cushions)

jenniferalisonphillipasue Fri 16-Aug-13 23:43:56

Can I add that I had dinner with John Taylor about 10 years ago. I didn't know who he was at the time though!

cocolepew Fri 16-Aug-13 23:44:05

I'm well jel too MrsD sad.
You popped into my head his morning SP. I got a book delivered from a local concert hall and five (5ive?) were on the cover grin

Has anyone mentioned Tom Selleck?

That is an example of acceptable facial hair.

KhloeKardashian Fri 16-Aug-13 23:44:27

Poor Brian, he and Daniella were off their heads.

My mum is still in denial about GM been gay. Apparently he pretends as he is waiting for her grin

Duncan is gay. shock

When? How do you know?

Cocole I love 5ive and was so excited when they returned. I would still marry Scott.

KhloeKardashian Fri 16-Aug-13 23:45:48

No Duncan is bi, he has a DD.

Pete He isn't a full blown gay. He just dabbles in both.

i think.

HoneyDragon Fri 16-Aug-13 23:46:00

Oh yes. The things I would let Tom Sellocks moustache do to me...

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 23:46:28
HoneyDragon Fri 16-Aug-13 23:46:37

Fully blown gay grin ha hahaha!

cocolepew Fri 16-Aug-13 23:47:16

I can't think of a pop star i fancied during that time tbh. Apart from <ahem> Debbie Harry blush

Sorry Honey, you're stuck with John Lowe. Tom and his moustache are all mine. grin

NarkyNamechanger Fri 16-Aug-13 23:47:46

He had a ONS I think when his dd was conceived and very shortly after he came out as gay.

Was in the programme called thingy a while back

not pissed, no not me

Honey I forget the word Bi so had to describe it the best I could grin

ImpulsePineapple Fri 16-Aug-13 23:48:43

jennifer !!!! What the... how... what <fails to comprehend>

I've been in a jacuzzi with Colin Firth though. Didn't realise. Really.

I always thought the other one was gay.

Not Simon, not the short one. The other one.

MildredIsMyAlterEgo Fri 16-Aug-13 23:48:57

jenniferalison I need to know more about your accidental dinner date with John Taylor shock grin

cocolepew Fri 16-Aug-13 23:49:10

Who is that shiney bloke SP?

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 23:49:11

Good lord <hoiks bosom>

Pete Lee? Or the cash machine pisser oner?

NarkyNamechanger Fri 16-Aug-13 23:50:16

Fucking hell

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 23:50:25

Eww Anthony Costa dirty bugger. He weed up the cashpoint.

KhloeKardashian Fri 16-Aug-13 23:50:43

Lee?

Lorelilee Fri 16-Aug-13 23:50:52

Never really thought about the similarities between George and Brian Harvey, scary. With regard to the gay 'thing', Mr Kyriacios HAS NOT MET ME YET. I will maintain this stance till the day he or I dies. Which, given his record behind the wheel, may be sooner rather than later!

I also apologise to Sparking for the partial hi-jacking of her thread...

Sparkling Trout Pout!

Cocole That would be Daniel Conn, a rugby player. Beautiful man. Thought he needed to be shared.

ImpulsePineapple Fri 16-Aug-13 23:50:59

Duncan is a People Person grin

crumpet Fri 16-Aug-13 23:51:25

OOh yes, Magnum PI.

My friend (45) found out earlier this year that George Michel was gay. Cannot tell you how guttednshe was - is still getting over it (And clearly has been living on another planet for years...)

Lorelilee Fri 16-Aug-13 23:51:45

Omitted ' Panatiyou'.

Yes Lee! Was convinced he was gay.

How did I not know about the cash machine pisser?

This is proof MN is better than Google! smile

cocolepew Fri 16-Aug-13 23:52:42

You more who else had epic legs? JJ Burnel(sp) from The Stranglers. I had a funny turn watching him on The Tube.

ImpulsePineapple Fri 16-Aug-13 23:53:11

SPARKLING [shocked] <clutches pearls>

MildredIsMyAlterEgo Fri 16-Aug-13 23:53:28

ImpulsePineapple good job you didn't know, you might have done a wee with all the excitement grin

Seriously, you were in a Jacuzzi with Colin Firth shock And you didn't know it was him shock shock how is this even possible????

cocolepew Fri 16-Aug-13 23:54:09

He's very smooth SP.

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 23:54:21

This is the Duncan James i liked.

jenniferalisonphillipasue Fri 16-Aug-13 23:55:17

I went surfing for a weekend in Devon with a friend who was a lot older than me and who used to live there. We randomly met some very eccentric friends of his who invited us for dinner that night. John Taylor was their neighbour and he was there too. We ended up staying the night (in their shed bizarrely) and it wasn't until we went to bed that my friend said you do know who that was don't you. I didn't! He was a little before my time....

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 23:57:27
MildredIsMyAlterEgo Fri 16-Aug-13 23:57:54

jennifer that is a most excellent story smile

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 23:58:05

Sorry SPs I don't see a singer, I see Peter Andre.

ImpulsePineapple Fri 16-Aug-13 23:58:51

We just thought he was a bit of a dick called Colin Mildred

It was about a year before Pride and Prej and the wet white shirt

Massive fail. I could have been on that red carpet with him for the Oscar.

I'm very supportive.

Sparklingbrook Fri 16-Aug-13 23:58:55

jennifer why did you sleep in a shed?

Sparkling you just ruined the surprise for everyone! Dont tell me you don't have:

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Mysterious girl
I wanna get close to you
Oh, oh, oh, oh ,oh, oh
Mysterious girl
Move your body close to mine
Girl you are me heart's desire
And you alone a set me soul on fire

In your head like I do!

ImpulsePineapple Sat 17-Aug-13 00:02:32

Peter loves his children very much SP

Still wouldn't in a billion years of parallel universes

But I do see your point

Do you think PA has had a bit of work done?

jenniferalisonphillipasue Sat 17-Aug-13 00:03:31

I have no idea why we slept in the shed!
Impulse - I would much preferred to have jacuzzied with Col. I actually love him.

Errr Impulse I dont find The Andre attractive.. It was a trap grin

I had the song in my head. Errrr that little orange thing ruined one of my favourite songs the shit headed baffoon.

ImpulsePineapple Sat 17-Aug-13 00:04:46

Honestly Colin wasn't very interesting. I know.

Sparklingbrook Sat 17-Aug-13 00:05:10

I am still singing along to B*Witched from earlier. sad

ImpulsePineapple Sat 17-Aug-13 00:06:37

You're LYING SP. You love him

grin

holy shit, I nearly woke the toddler with laughter then Impulse. That's the best he as ever looked

KhloeKardashian Sat 17-Aug-13 00:08:59

The big reunion is on in a few minutes, ITV2.

Sparklingbrook Sat 17-Aug-13 00:10:38

Well as usual everyone (young and old) have been lovely so i won't flounce today. grin

i am off to bed to watch Big Reunion and have nightmares about Duncan in his pants. Night all x

KhloeKardashian Sat 17-Aug-13 00:11:25

Peter Andre must wax and shave, even his pits have hardly any hair.

Least you can see PROPER boybands now in the shape of 5ive. Non of this Duran Duran shite.

grin

KhloeKardashian Sat 17-Aug-13 00:12:19

Here come Blue!

ImpulsePineapple Sat 17-Aug-13 00:12:51

Glad you are not flouncing Sparkling smile

What is this Big Reunion thing? Will I like it?

KhloeKardashian Sat 17-Aug-13 00:13:45

I think so! Blue are on it!

ImpulsePineapple Sat 17-Aug-13 00:15:32

I quite like Duncan after that pants photo Sparkling posted blush

Bumpotato Sat 17-Aug-13 00:15:39

Oh I have pictures of him that I took recently he's fucking gorgeous even 20 years since I used to kiss his picture goodnight every bedtime but I can't share or I'll completely out myself.

A few years back my friend lost all her pals in a nightclub in Hong Kong and the Duran boys took her under their wing, sharing their champagne and making sure she got a limo cab back to her hotel. Every time I see her, I make her tell me the story again,

ImpulsePineapple Sat 17-Aug-13 00:20:26

I dated a rock person recently. It was rubbish. I wish I was hot/young enough for pop.

WilsonFrickett Sat 17-Aug-13 00:27:39

Omg impulse are you Liz Jones?

grin

ImpulsePineapple Sat 17-Aug-13 00:28:42

Fucking cheek!!

NO.

Merylz Sat 17-Aug-13 00:31:13

Did it ever come out who LJ's rock star lover was? I want to know. Unlike the rest of the World, I 'get' Liz. I like her. She wouldn't like me cos my clothes are good value. But I like her.

SinisterSal Sat 17-Aug-13 00:31:37

OMG a rock person! i can't believe here I am chatting to people who date Rock people, and even Pop people are only slightly out of their grasp.

If i broke up with DH I could probably pull a Country & Western person who does covers down the local

Merylz Sat 17-Aug-13 00:32:45

who, come on, cough it up.

MildredIsMyAlterEgo Sat 17-Aug-13 00:36:36

Impulse Liam Gallagher? grin

ImpulsePineapple Sat 17-Aug-13 00:36:47

Liz is a massive bonkers loony. She really is, And VERY mean. Don't like her too much. She writes bollocks for money.

My Rock Star was mostly impotent because of all the drugs, would not recommend.

I'd totally go a bit C&W though. Tim McGraw?

KhloeKardashian Sat 17-Aug-13 00:37:59

Tell!

Merylz Sat 17-Aug-13 00:39:24

Half a story half. Pee emmm me the rest!

NoisyBrain Sat 17-Aug-13 00:40:03

sparkling when I was 10 I loved Duran Duran, and especially John Taylor, on a level way beyond my pre-pubescent brain's understanding.

I screamed along with all the other sad old bints long-time fans at Wembley Arena on their first big reunion tour and remembered ALL the words to the old songs grin

Sadly, ahem, I CAN see the appeal of Hairstyles. He needs to stop getting crap tattoos though.

ImpulsePineapple Sat 17-Aug-13 00:44:04

Couldn't possibly. He was the rhythm guitarist. With a Band. Looked like Fred Durst. I was SMITTEN. Then he tried to move into my house and he shouted at my DD for watching Hannah Montana. And massive <cough> erectile issues.

Always banging on about Getting Back In The Studio. Ridiculous FB messages from women he vaguely knew. That he showed me, while grinning.

Twat.

SinisterSal Sat 17-Aug-13 00:46:25

Yes isn't it funny the lyrics never leave you. I'll probably get

hold me
Close to your heart
Believe me
the sun always shines

read at my funeral

SinisterSal Sat 17-Aug-13 00:47:23

Not actaully fred Durst? <eyes Impulse>

ImpulsePineapple Sat 17-Aug-13 00:50:47

Not ACTUAL Fred Durst. I may have forgiven him all of that. and I actually thought he may have been on the drunk night I met him

MrsHoarder Sat 17-Aug-13 01:04:41

He looks like a slightly messier Beleiber. Except in the older photos where he just looks sleezy. Sorry.

SinisterSal Sat 17-Aug-13 01:04:46

God. Ageing. cruel life.

<peruses google images>

Who? wink

What as happened to this thread?! I nip away to read the pampered thread and come back to this?!

Who is this Fred guy?

ImpulsePineapple Sat 17-Aug-13 01:14:47

Fred who? Nothing to do with me <skips off>

MacaYoniandCheese Sat 17-Aug-13 01:37:53

George Michael's cousin was in my class. He was called CHRISTOS <swoon>.

This is the ACTUAL ONE.

differentnameforthis Sat 17-Aug-13 05:29:53

YABU - the only hot one from Duran Duran was ROGER Taylor!

WRONG! It was Nick Rhodes.

Impulse- was he in a famous 90's indie band?

I got drunk last night, peaked too soon, passed out by 9.30 and missed this thread sad

KhloeKardashian Sat 17-Aug-13 08:37:35

Who was the guitar guy? Bonehead from Oasis?

SoupDragon Sat 17-Aug-13 08:42:29

What I don't understand is how Nick Rhodes isn't gay.

MavisGrind Sat 17-Aug-13 09:42:23

WILD BOYS! WILD BOYS! WILD BOYS!

SlB strapped to some sort of rotating cartwheel and a behind-the-scenes-look at how they made the video on Blue Peter.

Ahhh, great days..

That's who I think it is Khloe.

Not sure he looks like Fred Durst though

Sparklingbrook Sat 17-Aug-13 11:33:34

Morning all. Oh no AKiss . sad

different
are you sure ?? shock

Or did you mean this?

Nick Rhodes looks like someone out of Twilight now. grin

Who are these old men you are talking about and linking too?!

Sparklingbrook Sat 17-Aug-13 11:59:27

Nick Rhodes was the keyboard player from Duran Duran SPs. I went to the same school as him, but he left before I arrived. sad

I am still reeling from Duncan in his pants.

Sparklingbrook Sat 17-Aug-13 12:01:38

Now SPs what do you think of this fine specimen?

grin Who is that?! No, not for me.

Sparklingbrook Sat 17-Aug-13 12:19:32

It is Michael Praed. He played Robin of Sherwood in the 80s. He was gorgeous as he swashbuckled through the forest in his tights.

I wasn't even thought of in the 80's. My mum wasn't even a teen til 1985!

LizzieVereker Sat 17-Aug-13 12:23:45

Sorry, I have come to this late, but I must tell Sparkling that I know who John Taylor is, and I still luff him. (sniff)

Sparklingbrook Sat 17-Aug-13 12:25:30

Ask your Mum about him SPs, I bet she will know.

Sparklingbrook Sat 17-Aug-13 12:26:05

Oh thank you Lizzie. flowers

ImpulsePineapple Sat 17-Aug-13 12:35:15

Maybe the next Robin Hood would be more your thing SP

who knew they regenerated like The Doctor? grin

God, no! Its getting worse grin

I dont only have eyes for RH

I went right off him when he married that De Cadanet woman. I switched my affections to Andrew McCarthy, where they have remained ever since smile

ZingWantsCake Sat 17-Aug-13 12:52:58

Sparkling and how is he today?grin

no idea who he is, glad to know I'm that young! (39 on Friday)grin

ImpulsePineapple Sat 17-Aug-13 12:59:06

I've just spent far too much of my morning reading about how Nick Rhodes really isn't gay.

According to this he is a lesbian with a penis

Sparklingbrook Sat 17-Aug-13 13:00:14

Zing you need to post a picture of who did it for you back in the day. grin

Aww Andrew McCarthy.

SelectAUserName Sat 17-Aug-13 13:03:20

Ohhhhh, John Taylor. He was fine.

My best friend of the time was a huge Nick Rhodes fan. I remember we both had little Pierrot diaries which were all the rage at the time and we used to flick through them saying things like "I can't see you on the 17th 'cos I'm shooting a video with Nick"..."well I'm in New York with John until the 25th"...

Amanda de Cadanet. Honestly, what was he thinking? hmm

Sparklingbrook Sat 17-Aug-13 13:15:59

Nick Rhodes wedding Very understated. grin

I have no idea who these Robin Hood people are. I was only a child in the 80's though.

Oh dear God Sparkling. He looks like the Pink Panther grin

Merylz Sat 17-Aug-13 14:02:08

somebody on this thread's mother is two years younger than I am shock

I had a pierrot poster. I could doodle one too. I think I also had that poster of the girl eating a banana until my poor mother came in and painfully explained what it symbolised.

Pierrot poster <--- who/what is that?

VixZenFenchell Sat 17-Aug-13 14:23:17

Swoon

Also know who JT is but he's all yours Sparkling. I was amazingly fickle as a teen, I had a huge crush on most of Aha as well. Nik has aged better than most though smile

VixZenFenchell Sat 17-Aug-13 14:26:42

Pierrot poster - arty (often B&W) poster of the clown from Harlequin & Columbine. One delicate tear under an eye. I had one too /sigh. Those were the days.

am as old as SPs mum

Lj8893 Sat 17-Aug-13 14:27:07

I don't know who John Taylor is?! But I don't fancy Harry styles or in fact any current boyband member!

A poster of a clown?! That would terrify me.

VixZenFenchell Sat 17-Aug-13 14:31:22
Sparklingbrook Sat 17-Aug-13 14:32:35

I remember this one.

ImpulsePineapple Sat 17-Aug-13 14:39:18

I had a pierrot duvet set grin <child of the eighties face>

(and a Wham lunchbox <shows off> )

Silverlace Sat 17-Aug-13 14:55:54

Sparkling, I understand your pain. I used to work with a young slip of a girl who was horrified that I was born in the sixties (isn't that a Sting song?).

I saw DD at the NEC, got tickets 10 rows from the front as I was in the fan club and John Taylor SMILED at me!

Sparklingbrook Sat 17-Aug-13 14:58:38

Ooh I got seats very close through the fan club too Silver forgot all about that. There were about 5 encores too. My dad had to sit in the car park waiting-no texting in those days.

Silverlace Sat 17-Aug-13 15:04:43

I wonder if you dad was sitting in his car next to my dad as he was waiting there too.

I wore a blue felt trilby, frilly shirt and pixie boots. Hopefully trousers as well but can't remember what they were like.

Sparklingbrook Sat 17-Aug-13 15:10:23

I had a grey shirt, and grey trousers, and a pair of pixie boots, and danced the whole way through. smile

I may have to go in the loft and get my scrap books down. They have the tickets in. grin

Diamondcassis Sat 17-Aug-13 15:18:43

I was at the Wembley Arena concert 1983, JT spotted me in the crowd & fell in love with me, he kept looking straight in my eyes. I just know he searched for me after but my dad had picked me up. I suspect he helped James Blunt write "You're beautiful" a few (20?) years later hoping I 'd know it was about that moment and get in touch. I was married by then though & didn't want to hurt DH so had to leave JT to his regrets. Hope he's OK about it.

RonaldMcDonald Sat 17-Aug-13 15:22:45

He's in family in the Guardian today

Sheesh, sorry to disappoint but once he set eyes on my 14 year old gorgeousness at Murrayfield all thoughts of you southern ladies were forgotten.
My Phil Oakley asymmetric bob, twilight teaser Avon lippy and the fresh scent of Impulse Red was what drew him to me. And my impressive knowledge of his back catalogue, life and moody poses, I suppose.
Ordinary World was obviously about me as I expect he is still crying for yesterday (and by yesterday he means me, obvs.). But like I said earlier, once he took up with ADC I thought less of him for trading down, so he had to go.

Sparklingbrook Sat 17-Aug-13 15:31:27

Oh yes thanks Ronald smile

See? He's even in Edinburgh looking for me as we speak. Get over it already John, FFS wink

Sparklingbrook Sat 17-Aug-13 15:40:12

Poor John Katie you are the forbidden fruit. grin

SelectAUserName Sat 17-Aug-13 15:47:01

I'm going to have to dig out my Sing Blue Silver DVD (a lovely friend bought it for my birthday a couple of years ago to replace my long-worn-out VHS tape) and have a proper lustfest retrospective.

Sparklingbrook Sat 17-Aug-13 15:47:58

Is that the American tour one Select?

Diamondcassis Sat 17-Aug-13 15:50:46

Have we all just stalked Gela online? Or is it only me?

You lot are too old for me grin

I'm off to find some proper boy and lovers!

grin

Sparklingbrook Sat 17-Aug-13 15:55:54

No stalking as yet Diamond what am I missing?

RichManPoorManBeggarmanThief Sat 17-Aug-13 15:58:02

I'm too old to read the whole thread as might die before i finish so not sure if anyone has pointed this out but John Taylor's real name is Nigel. That's how old he is. When he was young, John was a cool name that you changed your name to if you wanted to be a rock star.

Oh dear..... shock

Sparklingbrook Sat 17-Aug-13 16:00:08

And not forgetting Nick Rhodes is actually Nick Bates but who wants to be Master Bates? grin

SelectAUserName Sat 17-Aug-13 16:02:09

Yes Sparkling, the US tour. Much footage of John Taylor in leather trousers. <drools>

Diamondcassis Sat 17-Aug-13 16:08:24

Founded Juicy Couture. 7 years older than him. He clearly settled when i didn't get in touch

cushtie335 Sat 17-Aug-13 16:09:46

I thought Nick Rhodes was actually called "Nigel".

wharrgarbl Sat 17-Aug-13 16:21:27

Mooooooine!

SoupDragon Sat 17-Aug-13 16:21:39

John Taylor's real first name is Nigel.

Sparklingbrook Sat 17-Aug-13 16:32:10

Roger Taylor is DJing in Ibiza tonight, and Nigel is doing the Edinburgh literacy festival. Very random. grin

NoisyBrain Sat 17-Aug-13 16:39:09

OMG, I LOVED Sing Blue Silver, and As the Lights Go Down (the tour documentary, I think that's what it was called?). Found them both on YouTube recently and blissed out for a few hours grin

GilmoursPillow Sat 17-Aug-13 16:40:48

One of my friends has a picture of her sandwiched between John Taylor and Simon Le Bon as her cover picture on FB envy

DiaryOfAWimpyMum Sat 17-Aug-13 16:54:58

How can people not know who he is, I was going to marry him but moved onto Matt Goss, I still loved John though. My friend liked Simon but John was way cooler, he was very shy. (in my head)

Sparklingbrook Sat 17-Aug-13 18:45:25

Well I have just spent the last hour and a half watching 'Sing Blue silver' and it was bloody great. Oh for it to be 1984 again.....

The one thing I noticed was not a tattoo in sight.

WilsonFrickett Sat 17-Aug-13 19:08:51

I'll give your love to Nigel - I'm leaving in 10 mins but if anyone can think of a question from the MN massive....

Sparklingbrook Sat 17-Aug-13 19:12:24

Ooh Wilson envy Ask him if he ever wishes he could go back to 1984 just for one day. smile

WilsonFrickett Sat 17-Aug-13 19:13:47

Will do my best! Will report back...

Sparklingbrook Sat 17-Aug-13 19:14:53

ImpulsePineapple Sat 17-Aug-13 20:10:50

I may have spent today listening to 'Greatest' on spotify because of you lot grin

I am well jel of Wilson envy

Sparklingbrook Sat 17-Aug-13 20:24:40

It's fab though isn't it Impulse? grin

Sparklingbrook Sat 17-Aug-13 20:36:42
WilsonFrickett Sun 18-Aug-13 00:48:58

Well I have to say he was really good. Warm, articulate and actually much better than the book - in RL he actually sounded like he enjoyed the ride, rather than in the book where it sounded like it was all a bit of a drag.

Still hot too...

Sparklingbrook Sun 18-Aug-13 10:02:58

Ooh Wilson how fab. He deffo needs to rewrite the book, it did come across like he wasn't fussed didn't it?

WilsonFrickett Sun 18-Aug-13 10:37:14

Deffo, I looked up his ghost writer last night and think it was probably down to him. Maybe I should volunteer for the rewrite grin

Although I was more of Spandau Ballet fan - Martin Kemp <swoons>
As for fancying Harry Wotsit from One Direction. No, no no no no. That's just WRONG. He looks about 12 FGS.

Sparklingbrook Sun 18-Aug-13 14:43:35

Duran Duran were fabulous-shame on anyone who doesn't know who they were.

Wilson! I was there too last night!

He is sooooo luffly!

Made me cry a bit though when he was talking about his mum dying but still having his dad and then losing his dad and therefore also his connection to his childhood / where he grew up. My mum died a month ago & it will be the same for me when my dad goes.
I had to restrain myself from running onto the platform for a hug hmm

ClaraOswald Sun 18-Aug-13 17:40:01

I didn't know who John Taylor is.

GilmoursPillow Sun 18-Aug-13 17:42:56

I'm watching Sing Blue Silver (never knew the video existed, so thanks to whoever flagged that up).

I was a real Durannie but I'm cringing at the mullets, trousers and fans who pissed themselves in all the excitement grin

Sparklingbrook Sun 18-Aug-13 17:48:38

Yes, no need to piss yourself really Gilmours. I wasn't in the screaming category. The one thing I did notice the most on Sing Blue Silver-no tattoos on any of them. smile

Inkle I grew up very near to JT and recognise every place he mentions in the book. Many an afternoon sat on his parents' wall waiting for him. blush His Mum and Dad were lovely and very patient. It must have been bewildering for them. sad

Well you do now Clara. grin

Do you think he would be up for a webchat?

InkleWinkle Sun 18-Aug-13 17:51:09

Aaaahhh a webcast!
And we could have it all to ourselves as so many of these youngsters haven't heard of him!

He has a tattoo now though.

Sparklingbrook Sun 18-Aug-13 17:52:25

Sparklingbrook Sun 18-Aug-13 18:07:26

You are right Inkle. smile

WilsonFrickett Mon 19-Aug-13 10:04:30

He was luffly, wasn't he?

cheeseandpineapple Mon 19-Aug-13 12:31:08

Yes to webchat! Am writing this from my old bedroom at my parents place, the walls were completely covered in Duran Duran posters and pics, mainly JT. He was my second true love after lead singer of the bay city rollers. I was convinced the only reason we weren't together was that I was too young for him. Then he goes and marries wild child who's even younger than me. Felt cheated. Hope MN do organise a webchat, in which case, Sparkling, you should be invited in to meet him in person as instigator and allowed to bring a friend please pick meeeeee! grin

Bumpotato Mon 19-Aug-13 13:21:22

Watched Sing Blue Silver thanks to this thread. Happy.

Sparklingbrook Mon 19-Aug-13 13:28:40

Anyone got the All We Need Is Now album? I got it when it was released on CD and love it too. My daughters sing along to it in the car. In fact my 5 year old was singing along to all the songs in Sing Blue Silver too.

A new generation of Duranies!

I kissed JT goodnight every night before falling asleep, usually listening to the Rio album on my Walkman.

It makes me cross when 1D etc get compared to them. It's not the same at all.

The Beatles fans were probably pissed off in the 80s when Duran Duran were compared to them.

Though I agree. 1D, JLS etc are far more manufactured.

True Bump. Playing your own instruments makes for a credible band IMO. And finding other members through traditional routes and not Simon Cowell.

I haven't read John's book yet but got Andy's in a charity shop a while back. It is worth a read if you're a fan though Andy comes across as quite angry with the others.
