my DT got build a bear vouchers for their birthday so we want along and got them a bear each

while I was there I saw a my little pony build a bear and saw a sully - from monsters inc - being advertised

I'm 32 and not at all girlie - would I be unreasonable to get me one for my bedroom? I have the money so DT wouldn't go without?
my birthday is 6 months away so a long time to wait for a present

rosepettel Tue 25-Jun-13 18:17:49

if your only getting 1 then its kk you wont get drunk super bag puss

Whogivesashit Tue 25-Jun-13 18:24:19

Yes! Go for it. I've got a Jedi build a bear that takes pride of place in my bedroom.

Startail Tue 25-Jun-13 18:26:34

I have a blush and each year gets new Children in need clothes. I don't see why the DDs should get all the fun.

Mouseface Tue 25-Jun-13 18:30:25

DO IT! You only live once grin

wigglesrock Tue 25-Jun-13 18:31:32

I was in a store a few weeks, I'm not one for cuddly toys but the My Little Pony is absolutely gorgeous.

The Sully looks slightly scary (why has a nice one never been released?) but the my little ponies are lovely wink

5madthings Tue 25-Jun-13 18:33:25

Why not, I am very tempted to get myself a my little pony one, the one with wings and rainbow wings and it will need the roller skates they do for them. not that I have spent time perusing build a bear website

therumoursaretrue Tue 25-Jun-13 18:33:40

Get one!

I have a lovely limited edition Christmas one - a little reindeer that comes out every year. DP bought me her because I kept saying I'd love one but couldn't justify it when I was a broke student!

wankerchief Tue 25-Jun-13 18:37:38

I asked dh to surprise me for my birthday last year so he took me to build a bear and it was great!

I made a giraffe (Stanley) and got some outfits. Twas fun

DO IT! <I say this whilst cuddling my build a bear dog>

superbagpuss Tue 25-Jun-13 18:42:02

there is a rumour there might be a applejack pony coming grin

5madthings Tue 25-Jun-13 18:48:09

Oh god I have the link opened in another page, £19 for a basic pony, I want rainbow dash, and would need two pairs if skates at £5 each, and and and....perhaps I can convince grandma to buy it for 'dd' and then keep it safely away from sticky little fingures

I may have all the Mr potato head star wars figures they did, Darth Vader, r2d2 and a clone trooper... They sit up on a shelf where the madthings can't reach them!

dragongirlx Tue 25-Jun-13 19:07:19

I bought the limited edition Miss Piggy from build a bear and I am 36. smile

poppycock6 Tue 25-Jun-13 19:13:41

Yanbu. Love the build a bear! Think I get more enjoyment out of them than my DD's smile

HoneyDragon Tue 25-Jun-13 19:22:27

Applejack you say?

Dd got Rainbow Dash and they are inseparable smile

I like AppleJack though blush

floatyjosmum Tue 25-Jun-13 20:23:38

I have rainbow dash and I didn't feel too old - just too tall!

honeytea Tue 25-Jun-13 20:29:51

Yabu, it is a teddy, you are an adult.

I bought a build a brear for my (child) sister, she wasn't with me it was a supprise present but they made me kiss the heart before I put it in the bear, I was all alone, in my lunch break but there was lots of kids around so I had to kiss the fabric heart whilst the bear lady cheerfully said "kiss the heart and fill your bear with love" I muttered "it's not my bear" and left as fast as possible.

plainjaney Tue 25-Jun-13 20:37:19

YANBU if if makes you happy then do it. Life is too short.

I'm obsessed with Woolly Mammoths, in the USA they do 'Build A Dino'. My lovely DH bought me a Mammoth and Baby and they live on our bed. 'Malcolm' the mammoth makes me smile whenever I see him.

I'm stunned.

GoshAnneGorilla Tue 25-Jun-13 20:45:08

Do it.

I cannot believe anyone would miserable enough to say otherwise.

Dd would love a Rainbow dash.

hearthwitch Tue 25-Jun-13 20:45:29

I've got a kermit and if they do apple jack I'm totally getting one.

DD3 has Rainbow Dash. If Applejack is coming out, I may need to buy it to keep Rainbow Dash company (fond memories of Applejack being my first MLP aged 5).

It's DD2's birthday in a month, and she wants a load of build a bear clothes. I have to confess to being a little bit excited about choosing the outfits with her. I clearly don't get out enough.

plieadianpony Tue 25-Jun-13 20:52:11

LifeOfPee confused

Atavistic Tue 25-Jun-13 21:03:25

You're 32, and you want a Build a Bear, and you don't reckon you're girlie?
What are you then?
I really don't get it.

superbagpuss Tue 25-Jun-13 21:03:39

honey tea I built one for cousins daughter and refused to kiss the heart. dh said the teddy was cursed

yes its a teddy and yes I'm an adult. maybe its the childhood toy I never had

superbagpuss Tue 25-Jun-13 21:05:53

I don't like pink, shopping or clothes

I do like motorbikes and heavy rock music and dress like I'm from the 90's

however my little pony was one of the few things I have fond memories of as a child, however I agree as an adult I should be doing better things with my cash, like isa s and washing machines

LifeOfPee Tue 25-Jun-13 21:09:42

I'm going to try and forget this thread exists plieadianpony. I suggest you do the same.

superbagpuss Tue 25-Jun-13 21:11:33

foslady Tue 25-Jun-13 21:11:57

About 8 years ago I was strolling around the Milton Keynes shopping centre when I saw a boy of around 7 years old with his brand new build a bear dressed as Spiderman. He was making Spiderbear do a secret crawl along a bench and since that day I have wanted to get one.

My DS is now 4 years old and any day now we will live my dream!!

I have looked at build a dino online and hey! Why not have this option here? My Ds would love this. Looks like a new thing in the states too, there are only a few stores listed.

GoEasyPudding Tue 25-Jun-13 21:16:16

Hit post too soon there.....Yes, do it OP. Have a good time doing it too. Why did I wait this long? I don't know.

Miamiami Tue 25-Jun-13 21:42:40

I sooo do not get this. Sorry girls confused
<walks away slowly, deep in thought>
Do it OP if it makes you happy grin

LifeOfPee Tue 25-Jun-13 22:11:37

I'm just very surprised that lots of you, adult, women not only like the look of pretty teddies (some are very appealing...for my children) but actually have or will soon have their own teddy. Not just any teddy either but a very pricey one at that.

I've been to buildabear. I took DD, we spent a shit load on a rabbit with clothes. Would I want for myself? Hell no. What for, what would I do with it? What are you all planning on doing with them?

Of course, if it rocks your socks, then you should buy yourself one. You're an adult, it's your money, it's your choice what you spend it on. I honestly, sincerely, hope you enjoy it.

It's just...Mumsnet = Nest of Vipers. Except apparently each viper has a teddy they take to beddy! grin

BegoniaBampot Tue 25-Jun-13 22:14:03

Sounds like my idea of hell but if it's your thang - go for it!

BegoniaBampot Tue 25-Jun-13 22:15:48

Was in Town the other day and they were selling teddies at 300 quid - 300 QUID!

IneedAyoniNickname Tue 25-Jun-13 22:20:55

Do it, i have 5, although 1 possibly 2 will he heading to the charity shop soon.

Hmm, an apple jack you say? That could possibly maybe probably have been my favouritest ever pony (it was) that my mum got rid of!! May have to make a trip!

ITCouldBeWorse Tue 25-Jun-13 22:23:20

Teddy envy is one of the earliest psychological observations.

Just sayin'

YummyYummyYum Tue 25-Jun-13 22:27:49

My DH loves teddy bears, but he buys them for him our DS.
He is not girly, you made me laugh, steerotypes much grin

Miamiami Thu 27-Jun-13 09:03:43

Picturing MN vipers wearing My Little Pony outfits surrounded by teddies confused
My DH loves teddy bears confused

plainjaney Thu 27-Jun-13 10:27:54

From my current position I can see a couple of Wall-E toys on the bookshelf, some Lord of The Rings Lego, 3 Lightsabers, Vaders helmet and an original At-At. I'm 39 years old. My kids are 15 and 20.

I LOVE star wars, I LOVE Lord of The Rings. I don't plan on playing with any of the bits and pieces I have but I get huge enjoyment out of owning them and looking at them.

My next purchase will very likely be the little Fireman Minion from Despicable Me 2 because his yelling of "BEEEE DOOOOOW" when Gru torches the desk is hilarious and whenever I see that minion it makes me smile. Life is extremely shit here at the moment and if a small, cheap toy makes me happy then I'm grabbing it with both hands and enjoying the moments escape from reality.

gotthemoononastick Thu 27-Jun-13 10:58:08

Whispers:read on mumsnet that you ladies can get little prams for these to take them out in.

Meerkatwhiskers Thu 27-Jun-13 11:25:11

I appear to have missed out on something here sad kermit, star wars etc

But godammit I NEEEEEEED a superman bear!!!!!

SmiteYouWithThunderbolts Thu 27-Jun-13 12:17:13

I bloody love Build A Bear. It's my birthday in 3 weeks and I'm seriously contemplating going there to spend my birthday money. I've taken each of the kids on their birthdays this year. It's my turn, dammit!

I wanna dress a teddy in a tutu!

MamaChubbyLegs Thu 27-Jun-13 13:19:36

Superbagpuss, it's totally okay! Not my thing, but YABVU to give a damn what anyone else thinks wink

I'm not girly either, but I have hundreds of ponies hidden in my wardrobe blush

Do it. It is such fun. And if you are a Dr Who fan, you can ask to have two hearts in your bear!

superbagpuss Thu 27-Jun-13 17:32:57

meerkat the superman is pretty cool, Ds has one

I didn't know that about the two hearts, applejack will definitely be a time lord

bassetfeet Thu 27-Jun-13 18:56:44

I love teddy bears smile. Not silly at all in my head.
Met someone once through work. Lovely composed 40ish lady . She was having radiotherapy. Always carried a back pack with her books /crossword /crochet in to pass the time while waiting for her treatment
Once in treatment room she brought out a battered kindly teddy and he stayed on her tummy while her treatment was carried out .
Scary and lonely time having cancer treatment isnt it ?
That scuffed dog eared bear gave her so much comfort . I learnt a lot .

superbagpuss Sat 29-Jun-13 18:46:00

I bought a keep fit cheer bear today from a car boot sale, it moves and talks

so pleased with grin

DumSpiroSpero Sat 29-Jun-13 19:53:41

I am sitting reading this with DD's BaB and her 'baby' (Smallfry) on my lap.

I have a BaB, the IL's have a a bunny and a fox.

DD has decided she wants our bears to get married over the summer, so we will be holding a furry wedding in the garden and prior to that, taking DD's bear back to BaB for restuff & fluff!

Before DD got her bear at a friend's party nearly two years ago, I thought it was the biggest load of cobblers ever...blush grin

MyBaby1day Sun 30-Jun-13 05:17:52

Trazzletoes Sun 30-Jun-13 05:30:17
