To ask if you have hairy nipples?

I do. I feel like a freak. How common is this?

ilovepowerhoop Sun 26-May-13 19:41:34

I have a few hairs on my nipples and I just trim them with scissors. I tried plucking but got ingrown hairs that were painful to get back out again

TheFlipsideOfTheCoin Sun 26-May-13 19:43:14

I get a couple and just pluck the, out. I've asked all of my female friends about this and they all get them!

crazycanuck Sun 26-May-13 19:43:40

Fellow sufferer here. I've resorted to plucking.

CockyFox Sun 26-May-13 19:43:42

I have them, and pubic hair that reaches my tummy button at the front and all round my bun and up my back. And an almost full beard and moustache.
I have severe PCOS though so it is part of that.

Cropcircles Sun 26-May-13 19:43:45

I think mine would still be pretty noticeable if I trimmed.

Itchywoolyjumper Sun 26-May-13 19:44:41

I've got a few too. I remember when I was a teenager my mate's vile boyfriend trying to make fun of her about this and every girl we were with saying they had them too.
Strangely I have a lot less now that I've had a baby.

Cropcircles Sun 26-May-13 19:45:53

CockyFox snap on the hairy tummy. My GP wants to test me for PCOS.

I feel so unfeminine.

Pouncer1 Sun 26-May-13 19:49:24

Thanks OP for this thread...I thought it was just meblush

SizzleSazz Sun 26-May-13 19:50:18

No, none here.

CajaDeLaMemoria Sun 26-May-13 19:51:53

No, I don't either.

I'd never heard that this happened. Or that it was so common. I feel odd.

Cropcircles Sun 26-May-13 19:51:54

Well SizzleSazz it's 7-1 so far. grin

freddiefrog Sun 26-May-13 19:51:55

Yes. One thick black one appears on my left nipple now and then. I pluck it out

TheFlipsideOfTheCoin Sun 26-May-13 19:53:39

I have a hairy tummy too! Currently being tested for PCOS so my opinion in this thread may be slightly invalid as my "hairyness" could be a medical thing.
But don't feel unfeminine, I think body hair is entirely normal and it's just our silly society that states that women need to be hairless creatures. It's bizarre really. Who woke up one day and said we should all start shaving our legs!? Madness.

Oblomov Sun 26-May-13 19:55:46

Yes. A few. Thought everyone had. Everyone I have ever spoken to about this has said they do. Hate it. So unfeminine.

FarBetterNow Sun 26-May-13 19:57:38

In the USA nostril hairs are removed. That must be painful.

knackeredmother Sun 26-May-13 20:01:27

Yes loads. Dark haired, hair everywhere. No PCOS to blame either!

boatclub Sun 26-May-13 20:01:54

I have to do a bit of plucking. Ex P was appalled when he caught me once

YokoUhOh Sun 26-May-13 20:03:33

Yep - pluck them. I have a fetching blonde 'tache, too - it's kinda comforting to stroke it sometimes really must learn threading

redexpat Sun 26-May-13 20:05:52

Yes, a few, although fewer since I had a baby. Wish I could say the same for my upperlip and chin.

mervynmouse Sun 26-May-13 20:11:23

It's not at all unusual op! I have them, so do many friends. Annoying to deal with though, I had them lasered a few years ago but it only lasted a couple. Fewer grow now and I pluck.

Cropcircles Sun 26-May-13 20:11:48

Well this is all very reassuring I must say, thanks smile. My mum has also told me that her hormones settled down a lot after having babies. Maybe I should start using this as a chat up line and crack on with it.

I've started getting electrolysis on my stomach and the beauty therapist asked if I wanted to book in for my nipples as well. She hadn't seen them so I guess it must be common, at least among hairier ladies.

Yes. Only on my right nipple though.

CremeEggThief Sun 26-May-13 20:37:16

I am surprised to learn some people don't have them!

juneybean Sun 26-May-13 20:38:42

I don't but I do have dark hair elsewhere

cantpooinpeace Sun 26-May-13 20:45:38

1 black one, left nip hmm

Yep on both.

No PCOS here either, im 24, slim and fit and healthy.

Maybe its genetic

MakeGlutenFreeHay Sun 26-May-13 20:50:13

Yep. I have loads. Also have hairy fingers and toes <hobbit>. Not really a 'tache, but I do have a rather pigmented upper lip so it looks like I do... confused

HeffalumpTheFlump Sun 26-May-13 20:50:39

Yep... Even DH doesn't know about it blush... I pluck them. Mine are due to pcos so i don't know if I count in your tally though!

There was a thread a little while ago about hairiness, it would have made you feel so much better. I can't find it for the life of me but it was called something like 'my pubes are migrating down my legs'. All the hairy women (myself included) came together to talk about it!

You are definitely not alone!

I'm not dark haired in other places either, I'am very fair, pale with natural blonde hair, even my leg hair/pubic hair isn't too dark, yet I have these solid black hairs on my nips.

Cocodale Sun 26-May-13 20:52:11

Have PCOS as well so goes with the territory sadly, next on my list for IPL.

gingysmummy Sun 26-May-13 20:55:21

i have few which i pluck but have a horrendous tash/beard combo which requires a lot of maintence!
when on holiday in the algarve this topless woman was sitting plucking her nipple hair out in public v odd!

Cropcircles Sun 26-May-13 20:57:19

I think this sort of thing should be in sex ed. It would be nice for teenage girls to realise this is normal and gasp for boys to know this too.

SoftSheen Sun 26-May-13 21:01:38

No, never had one, didn't realise women did! Have hairy big toes though

EglantinePrice Sun 26-May-13 21:25:05

Electrolysis? Why? Much faster results from laser (and less expensive). Not to be confused with IPL which is not as good as proper laser.

CrazyOldCatLady Sun 26-May-13 21:52:44

I'm so hairy I'm pretty certain I'm actually a gorilla. PCOS though.

MythosLivetheDream Sun 26-May-13 22:24:25

Hair is the blight of my life, I feel terrible about it... Hairy nipples, hairy legs, moustache, beard, the whole lot. Depressing really...

Ubermumsy Sun 26-May-13 22:28:42

Yeah... Not many, but the few I have are long and luxuriant given half a chance. I shave (very, very carefully) rather than pluck as it saves ingrowing.

Also v hairy legs, bikini line, chin and pits. (But no tache, thank fuck.) I don't epilate, I deforest.

HollyBerryBush Sun 26-May-13 22:30:58

No, but I'm a red head and not prone to any excess body hair. Although if it helps me fit in, I have one on a mole

SoleSource Sun 26-May-13 22:31:21

No Idon't!

Have a huge thick tash n beard though.

Thanks PCOS

HoHoHoNoYouDont Sun 26-May-13 22:33:38

I almost started a thread on this earlier!

Great minds and hairy women think alike.

meglet Sun 26-May-13 22:34:32

Yes, it made bf a pain as I had to make sure I got rid of the hair even more thoroughly than before. Since I was a teenager I've had hair every-bloody-where. I must have spent a fortune on waxing and bleach over the years. Although my trusty Tweezerman tweezers have never let me down.

I was tested for PCOS as a teen but it came back negative. I've just got shit hairy genes. Pre-DC's I would go on sunbeds to make the hair less obvious.

Thinkingpositively Sun 26-May-13 22:45:00

is that why you are called crop circles cropcircles ? And to answer your question yes, mine have to odd hair. Actually, since i got pregnant they also smell a bit that normal too??

cocolepew Sun 26-May-13 22:51:53

Horace I only have them on my right nipple too.
We are nipple twins shock

Ubermumsy Sun 26-May-13 22:52:30

Did anyone else get a hairy tummy when pregnant? Mine weren't dark, just soft and numerous and strokeable . I don't notice them now my tum has gone back to its saggy unpregnant state.

KittyMcAllister Sun 26-May-13 22:56:54

Yes - no improvement after kids either confused Also got the whole lip/chin/monobrow thing going on. Attractive!

PesteredButHappy Sun 26-May-13 22:57:49

Yep, I have about 8-10 dark ones scattered around the outer edge of each nipple. nice hmm

Lweji Sun 26-May-13 23:16:07

Strangely I have a lot less now that I've had a baby.

Now that you mention it...

<checks... definitely gone>

Shame about the legs.

PiratePanda Sun 26-May-13 23:17:23

Yes, a few; it's quite common.

FingersCrossedLegsNot Sun 26-May-13 23:21:05

cockyfox I'm in the same boat as you, hairy bloody everything, back, bum, legs, belly and chin.....I also am lucky enough to have pcos sad oh and of course the fertility problems! If only I just had hairy nipples wink

BarredfromhavingStella Sun 26-May-13 23:21:21

Yep, it's perfectly natural-just pluck them.

youmeatsix Sun 26-May-13 23:28:38

never had any, i didnt realize women did until i worked with a woman who told everyone at every given opportunity she had them blush i'm not a hairy person at all though, neither is my mum or my daughters, maybe genetic then?

Primrose123 Sun 26-May-13 23:37:06

No, none for me, and I'm quite hairy I think.

I'm not sure I could cope with plucking such a sensitive area. Isn't it agony?

elQuintoConyo Sun 26-May-13 23:37:35

Yes, 10-ish around each nipple. I used to have one huge monster growing out of my chest between my boobs, but that naturally went away about ten years ago. I used to pluck that one, I shave my nips.
I also have big scary ones growing out of my chin and a furry carpet on each big toe.
DH is lucky to have me!

SinisterBuggyMonth Sun 26-May-13 23:47:12

Yep, nipples and belly. I honestly thought this was normal! I'm sure there was a comedian on tv years ago who did a routine on this.

BridgetBidet Mon 27-May-13 00:15:40

I also have the same and it is a sign of PCOS.

ChunkyChicken Mon 27-May-13 00:36:17

No, but I used to get one thick, blond 'eyebrow' hair growing horizontally straight out from the centre of my forehead. It was truly bizarre. I would only notice it was long enough to feel with my hand, as it was so blond it was transparent. However, frequent plucking soon got rid of the sucker...

Cropcircles Mon 27-May-13 00:55:56

Thinkingpositively yes that's the reason for the name!

Right, sounds like I definitely need to go back to my GP for the PCOS results. Although oddly reassuring that you can also get them without.

Wylye Mon 27-May-13 01:05:20

Signing in... Never been tested for PCOS tho.
Hairy nips, hairy toes, hairy top lip, hairy bloomin everything. I love my tweezers.

I'm also quite long-haired, as is DH, we used to joke we'd have Persian children. DS doesn't have a full pelt yet thank goodness, but we shall have to wait and see what fate hands him in his teens...

cafecito Mon 27-May-13 01:17:02

<forgets to namechange> yes I do - no PCOS here though! I also have one hair on my chin (I'm in my twenties!) arf
and a moustache which I get threaded <twirls>
