To think a lot of the women on The Apprentice look...

hermioneweasley Thu 16-May-13 20:20:48

....a bit porn star-y? Masses of fake hair, nails, loads of make up, lip gloss. Yikes! I don't know any senior women at work who look remotely like that.

Oh, and Karen Brady has upgraded her hair stylist this season, no?

HollyBerryBush Thu 16-May-13 20:24:13

you probably don't work in the right industry. Marketing and sales is all about image.

I grant you they are sadly plasticated

YoniOno Thu 16-May-13 20:26:00

sad YANBU. It's really depressing, they as a group come across so badly. I blame the production team who clearly wanted eye candy for the men rather than interesting personalities. They are more like Big Brother contestants than anything. That blonde one with the very still weird face that couldn't add up in the brewing task - seriously, wtf?

hermioneweasley Thu 16-May-13 20:30:46

Holly berry - woukd the right industry be the sex industry?

Marketing and sales is about a professional image that is aligned to the brand/corporate expectations. What message woukd you be sending based on that look?

I wouldn't buy anything off the guy with the weird eyebrows.

EeyoreIsh Thu 16-May-13 20:32:06

I agree. I've been really shocked by how they look. almost unprofessional.

KB on the other hand looks amazing. I love her hair this season.

HollyBerryBush Thu 16-May-13 20:33:26

I think you are being judgemental to say women who take care of themselves, use make up, hair and nail extensions are symptomatic of the sex industry.

Perhaps they like to look that way? But to ally them with sex workers is a tad OTT

Trapper Thu 16-May-13 20:34:14

Eye candy for the men, seriously? They are certainly not my idea of eye candy...
As I man, I can only assume they were chosen for their ability to pitch themselves well in the initial interviews. There's no way they were selected based on their looks.

OwlinaTree Thu 16-May-13 20:34:34

It makes me laugh when they are running round everywhere in massive heels! I love my heels and I'd wear them for the presentation bits and the boardroom, but if I'm pounding the streets of London trying to sell ukeleles I'd def be in flats. Bet there's loads of outtakes of then falling over!

YANBU

I've been sat agog at the heavy layers of shiny make-up, comedy eyebrows and ratty, stringy, over-long hair extensions.

One them even wears brown lip-liner with shiny pink gloss shock

Porn star-tastic.

Fakebook Thu 16-May-13 20:36:17

They all look like drag queens to me apart from Rebecca. Uzma looks like a man.

PenguinBear Thu 16-May-13 20:36:27

YANBU, we think they all look like barbie dolls.

Most of them seem quite fake looking! Too pretty! jealous

OwlinaTree Thu 16-May-13 20:36:54

On a serious note i agree with holly. You can take care of yourself and still be a serious business person, it's not one or the other.

RatRatRat Thu 16-May-13 20:37:13

I think they look nice. <hides>

FriedSprout Thu 16-May-13 20:38:07

They look like they all need a good wash, showing signs of age here. grin

gillywillywoo Thu 16-May-13 20:39:01

YANBU

they really are a bunch of skanks this year and I'm amazed they are on the show... They are hopeless.

HollyBerryBush Thu 16-May-13 20:39:06

I'm amused at the Croydon face life brigade slating attractive young women

Tigglette Thu 16-May-13 20:39:54

Fried sprout that was my thinking too, they all just looked manky in my eyes.

RatRatRat Thu 16-May-13 20:39:59

Admittedly I am 26, with long hair and a considerable makeup collection. Perhaps that's it! grin

NorbertDentressangle Thu 16-May-13 20:40:09

Literally 30 seconds before I saw this thread title DD and I were discussing whether it was possible to look more fake and wear more make-up than some of these young women.

DD was watching one episode recently where they were all screeching over each other in a "LISTEN TO ME, I'M MORE IMPORTANT BECAUSE I'M SHOUTING LOUDEST SO I GET THE MOST SCREEN TIME" sort of way.

Dire.

QuiteOldGal Thu 16-May-13 20:40:11

YANBU

They remind me of Kirsty in Eastenders. They all look similar apart from the teacher one that went out first. The one with the hair up looks OK

Gooeyhead Thu 16-May-13 20:40:12

Fried I was going to say the same thing haha grin

kim147 Thu 16-May-13 20:40:46

Has there ever been a "plain" women on the Apprentice?

Gooeyhead Thu 16-May-13 20:40:49

By the way Fried not that your showing signs of age I was going to say they need a good wash!!! grin

RatRatRat Thu 16-May-13 20:40:53

Oh God, not that you are showing your age, just that it's an age thing. Ffs. I'm being offensive everywhere tonight!

Methe Thu 16-May-13 20:41:19

They all look weird. The one with the brown hair and the bun looks like Miss Hardbroom!

Of course they've all been chosen for their looks.

Bring back Margaret.

She'd sort them out.

She held more authority with one raised eyebrow than all of them put together (men included).

Gooeyhead Thu 16-May-13 20:43:03

I liked Jaz and I like Rebecca, Francesca and Leah!!! The comedian on The Apprentice, You're Fired on the first week said that some of the contestants have come straight from the make-up room on Take Me Out!!! That made me laugh grin

kim147 Thu 16-May-13 20:43:31

You'd almost think TV and the media are obsessed by appearance grin

And they say there's a problem with body image and self esteem

Wyfee Thu 16-May-13 20:44:58

They look like they've been scraped a a (dirty) night club dance floor at 2am.
Maybe they used their big business brains to negotiate a multi-buy deal at the hair extensions shop.

YoniOno Thu 16-May-13 20:45:06

Yy to Margaret! They're a bitchy group as a whole too, ganging up on wee East Asian one and tall one with Croydon facelift bun sad Uzma is te worst.

<wavers between feminism and sleb gossiping>

DuttyWine Thu 16-May-13 20:45:25

An improvement on Katie Hopkins, surely??

I was saying to someone they look really glam this year compared to how they looked in the first couple of years of the apprentice where they seemed to wear very dull work wear.

I also think Karen Brady looks lovely, like Kelly brooks older and wiser sister. Uzma looks like if Helen ledderer and Rita ora had a child.

KenDoddsDadsDog Thu 16-May-13 20:47:07

It wasn't like this in Ruth Badger's day !

LEMisdisappointed Thu 16-May-13 20:47:10

I would never get on the apprentice, cos im a minger!

But yes, that blonde one last night looked like pamela anderson with too much lip filler!

Relaxedandhappyperson Thu 16-May-13 20:49:42

Have they all got botox and lip fillers as well as the massively-overdone eye make-up? The girls look REALLY weird this year. Strikingly so. No one looks like that in my office.

The boys look a bit odd too, with the not-sure-if-it's-a-beard-or-not thing going on for several of them. And eyebrow man.

Surely looking professional is the minimum requirement? And I'm very much one for minimum effort when it comes to appearance!

LEMis ah, but are you a minger that gives 150% ?

You could still be in with a chance grin

PeskyRat Thu 16-May-13 20:51:37

Uzma = Zelda from the Terrahawks. Came to me in a flash of genius during yesterdays episode grin

NorbertDentressangle Thu 16-May-13 20:51:37

Its makes for some interesting talking points when watching it with 13 yo DD.

Thankfully she can see that wearing high heels when you're running around a DIY store is not the cleverest of moves. She's also decided that the ones wearing too much make-up look like drag queens and that some of them (sorry don't know names as I've only seen bits of it) are too bossy and forceful, not allowing others to make their point.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf Thu 16-May-13 20:52:43

I miss Badger sad

simplesusan Thu 16-May-13 20:52:54

I agree op.

It's the first thing I noticed.

There are all thin wearing tight fitting dresses and so much slap.

I wanted to drag a comb through their hair last nigt, after washing it first.

Also why the silly blue contact lenses, they look ridiculous.

Have to say I also think the guy with hair all over his neck looks totally scruffy and a right twat.

HootShoot Thu 16-May-13 20:53:30

Oh I loved the badger! I do think there is a big difference between looking after yourself and this lot. Look at Karen she manages to look beautiful, feminine and professional. They don't really promote business women well IMO.

theoriginalandbestrookie Thu 16-May-13 20:59:25

Agreed and on a vaguely related note. You know the bit where someone rings up and the person who answers the phone flaps their arms around like a helicopter, hugely surprised that on the show called The Apprentice they are being ringed up to do a task.

Anyways you know that bit, and then they go Lord Sugar will meet us in 30 minutes at the Industrial village, cut to slightly pervy shots of everyone in their pjs/short nighties.

Then 30 minutes later the girls and even the boys appear with hair coiffed and the girls have their make up trowelled on. There is no way they have done that in anything less than an hour. Grr, annoys me.

Agree though - loving Karen Brady, although there is always a special place for Margaret in my heart.

NorbertDentressangle Thu 16-May-13 21:00:24

Its turning into a Jezza Kyle style slanging match now.

NorbertDentressangle Thu 16-May-13 21:00:57

The programme that is, not this thread wink

That drives me bonkers theoriginal, it's so staged.

Also, the fact that in such a mahoosive mansion, there is only one phone downstairs in the hallway.

Who are they kidding?

YoniOno Thu 16-May-13 21:05:42

They never used to have those pervy shots did they?

According to Grazia or some such, the prettiest girl one is shagging the posh moronic bloke now the series has ended.

squoosh Thu 16-May-13 21:06:19

I agree.

I'm itching to give most of them a haircut or at least a hair bobble, what's with all the cascading tresses, they look so messy. And I'm mesmerised by Uzma's look, the blonde hair, blue tinted lenses, pale makeup, it just looks so startling. She'd look much better if she went with her natural looks.

The Welsh eyebrow man looks like Frank Sidebottom.

XBenedict Thu 16-May-13 21:08:44

Was one of the first things noticed OP! Surely if they had anything about them they would take one look at Karen, who I appreciate is quite a bit older than them, and see that that is not how they are expected to dress - especially if they want to be taken seriously. I'm not suggesting they mirror Karen but the difference is vast!!!!

squoosh grin

or Count Von Count

Moominsarehippos Thu 16-May-13 21:11:38

If someone came to pitch to me looking like, they've just come in from the night before (skyscraper heels, tight n bright dresses, loads of cleavage and tons of slap) I wouldn't feel that they were being serious. Then again, I worked in the City where it was suit central. There is one with a hugely irritating voice.

Miss Can't be Wrong is a bit odd looking. She seems to have been coloured in by a five year old with sharpies. Nothing seems to be quite the right hue (and she's supposed to be a cosmetics entrepreneur or some such).

TSSDNCOP Thu 16-May-13 21:11:41

It's taken me 3 episodes, but I've finally nailed who Natalie reminds me of:

[[https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=brookside+doreen+corkhill&client=safari&hl=en&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=zzyVUc6jJaaM0wWPioDABQ&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAQ&biw=1024&bih=672#biv=i%7C0%3Bd%7C45KRtbj_nWRWvM%3A our Do, the one and only Doreen Corkhill!!!

TSSDNCOP Thu 16-May-13 21:12:08
INeedThatForkOff Thu 16-May-13 21:16:28

Um, I know it's all fairly contrived and the contestants are a bunch of pricks, but why do we have a thread devoted to ripping the women to shreds based on the way they look, with barely a comment on the men, who, lets face it, have no idea how to dress appropriately for the scenario either (sharp tailoring at a beer festival anyone?)

Relaxedandhappyperson Thu 16-May-13 21:22:39

forkOff - because the women are more awful than the men.

BOF Thu 16-May-13 21:23:02

If you read the live threads when it airs, ForkOff, I think you will find ample criticism of the male contestants' appearance grin

TSSDNCOP Thu 16-May-13 21:24:25

Trewfact there Relaxed

The men are gold plated nobbers, but they generally aren't trying to win it by wearing their hooker heels in the boardroom.

squoosh Thu 16-May-13 21:24:40

TBH I really think the women's 'style' is far worse than the men's in this series.

And believe me I'm an equal opportunities slagger offer.

AuntieEggy Thu 16-May-13 21:25:07

I think i might watch this up til the ads before it all starts
'Im the best of the best' with a cheesyraised eyebrow.
'Im the cuntiest of the cunts' more likely.

Moominsarehippos Thu 16-May-13 21:26:35

The men are not quite so.... well, looking as if they're trying quite as hard. I suppose its because they wear suits and not make up, don't dye their hair... (Pk so the weird eyebrows are a but hmmmm).

The women do seem to be very concerned with looking, well I'm not sure what. When I started working it was drummed into me that you wore a suit, didn't flash the flesh or wear too much make up or bling in business, or you wouldn't be taken seriously. One female boss sent her secretary home because she was wearing trousers!

I don't think that they have been chosen because they are serious contenders an business people or entrepreneurs. Most of them do not appear to be serious business people. There's a hell of a lot of difference between working for yourself and being a business person. They have been chosen because they are, mainly, pretty and have 'personality' (ie no listening skills, and the ability to start a fight in an empty room).

The blokes aren't much better to be honest.

quoteunquote Thu 16-May-13 21:29:24

I thought the secret task was who could look most like a blow up doll,

that guy was being a jolly good sport joining in.

you probably don't work in the right industry. Marketing and sales is all about image

That goes a long way to explain why we are in such a deep recession .

BOF Thu 16-May-13 21:32:28

Oh, it's definitely no longer a serious attempt to find a good business person. It's about promoting business to young people (Lord Shuggar is big into this) through glamour and humour, by targeting reality tv viewers. So controversy and cock-ups are the order of the day, and eye candy is an essential element.

Moominsarehippos Thu 16-May-13 21:32:52

Maybe they look like that if they were marketing or selling cosmetics or plastic surgery! Not in my line...

Rollmops Thu 16-May-13 21:33:14

Good grief, these women are absolutely ghastly, so cheap and utterly vulgar.
The only 'image' they convey are that of a £5 prostitute.

BornInACrossFireHurricane Thu 16-May-13 21:34:29

I think KB and rebecca both look particulary lovely. Francessca is really familiar- has she been on tv previously?

squoosh Thu 16-May-13 21:35:05

The Apprentics used to be a good programme way back when.

Remotecontrolduck Thu 16-May-13 21:36:20

Uzma is unfortunately not someone who's a good advert for her make-up business, at all. Of course she's entitled to look however she likes, but the pale foundation, blonde hair, blue contacts look awfully like she's uncomfortable with her heritage?

Some of the women this year do have too much tan/foundation/fake hair this year, I think they'd look a lot better if they toned it down a bit but they all seem successful so whatever works for them.

Alex's eyebrows is all i'm going to say about the men.....

Moominsarehippos Thu 16-May-13 21:37:08

She looks like someone who was on it before I think.

Wannabestepfordwife Thu 16-May-13 21:38:08

born I don't know if she has but to me she looks like she could be Stella (the one who tried to sue) sister

Remotecontrolduck Thu 16-May-13 21:38:16

Rebecca looked so much nicer in the casual shot at the house right at the end last night, I think if she lost the harsh lip liner and eyeliner and perhaps softened the hair up a bit she'd be perfect.

She is very good at sales though from what i've seen so far

Moominsarehippos Thu 16-May-13 21:40:16

I really want to see their actual CVs. Their descriptions are so wooly on the website.

RubyOnRails Thu 16-May-13 21:40:26

Kim247, have you forgotten that Katie Hopkins? Or the I e whose accent would go comedy Irish the minute she stepped into the boardroom?!

JamieandtheMagicTorch Thu 16-May-13 21:40:28

I can't recall a series where the men were quite so, er, groomed. It's all artful beards and hair.

kungfupannda Thu 16-May-13 21:41:30

It's not really about how they look - it's more that the way they've chosen to dress and make themselves up seems to be just part of a not-particularly-appealing package.

There's nothing wrong with choosing to wear makeup, or fashionable clothes.

But these women are painted up like clowns, trussed up in the tightest, shortest suits they can fit into, with the most impractical footwear known to man, and hair constantly flapping around their faces.
And shrieking at each other like a bunch of pre-schoolers.

They don't seem to have any respect for themselves, or confidence in their skills and abilities - it's all about dressing for the camera and out-screaming one another.

It's like they are trying to live up to every male stereotype of women in business.

They could do a lot worse than to look at Karren, and how she presents herself.

JamieandtheMagicTorch Thu 16-May-13 21:41:33

The dark-haired <spits> pharmacuetical saleswoman looked better after she had lost the eyemakeup to a bout of crying last week

JamieandtheMagicTorch Thu 16-May-13 21:42:32

kungfu

But they were chosen by someone to fulfil the public's prejudices..

kungfupannda Thu 16-May-13 21:44:41

Of course, but they seem to be doing their best to live up to it.

Just a bit less clown-makeup, and a conscious effort to speak, rather than screech, would make a massive difference.

I would have the greatest of difficulty in taking any of them remotely seriously if they rocked up in our office to do work experience, or to present to us.

pigletmania Thu 16-May-13 21:44:49

All style, no substance. Three loses in a row, how embarassing

wordfactory Thu 16-May-13 21:45:07

What pees me off is that not one of these women look like a modern professional business woman! They look like they've escaped from the 1980s!

squoosh Thu 16-May-13 21:45:31

Remotecontrolduck that's what I thought when I saw Uzma too, someone who is trying to disassociate themselves from their true ethnicity.

JamieandtheMagicTorch Thu 16-May-13 21:46:12

Oh I know. It was utterly embarrassing yesterday in the Boardroom. The screeching, the talking over each other.

But my least favourite contestant is still the twatty arrogant Football man (sorry, terrible with names)

kungfupannda Thu 16-May-13 21:48:19

The blokes are equally irritating. They seem to be trying to out-posh one another.

francesdrake Thu 16-May-13 21:49:39

Half the men could stand to investigate razors too.

pigletmania Thu 16-May-13 21:49:51

I cannt stand that man, the 39 year od one, who said that he would cheat and manipulate to get where he wants. After hearing that no respectable company would want to employ him. The women would be best suited to the playground not any boardroom

sassytheFIRST Thu 16-May-13 21:50:04

Usma has a distinct look of Divine Brown...

They are all v attractive young women. If they got on with the job instead of troweling on the slap, they might perform better. Presumably they're all pretty bright as well.

So why in the name of all that's holy are they dressed and made up like extras from Hollyoaks (nightclub scene)? And where's the fecking sisterhood???

fromparistoberlin Thu 16-May-13 21:50:12

yanbu!!!! I thought same

Its the stripper heels, kill a work outfit

JamieandtheMagicTorch Thu 16-May-13 21:50:29

The one I mentioned needs to shave his neck

I like beards, but overly sculpted ones, or ones that go down the neck are not on.

pigletmania Thu 16-May-13 21:50:56

And tat shaved eyebrows man, aghhh

JamieandtheMagicTorch Thu 16-May-13 21:51:24

I think the woman who is a doctor may go far. She seems pretty sound.

sassytheFIRST Thu 16-May-13 21:52:01

Word factory - yes! They looks like they've escaped from the Addicted to Love video, via an industrial fake tab machine.

gazzalw Thu 16-May-13 21:52:16

The women all look like clones...not what I find attractive at all.....

kungfupannda Thu 16-May-13 21:53:12

I think I could live with the make-up if they'd just tie their bloody hair back!

pigletmania Thu 16-May-13 21:53:23

Oh jamie will take a look at te website. I don't know if I can watch next weeks Apprentice at this rate. Fire the lot of em

hermioneweasley Thu 16-May-13 21:53:41

Agree the guys are awful, and "eyebrows" is quite astonishing. Haven't seen third episode yet, but I was particularly struck by the consistency of the women's look this year, and how incongruous I find it with a desire to be taken seriously and be known for what you are good at (not what you look like). It does seem that they are all there to try and launch TV careers, rather than establish themselves as a serious commercial or leadership force.

LaQueen Thu 16-May-13 21:55:24

They are very synthetic looking...and, I find their launguage very curious, and formulaic.

They seem to talk in sound-bites to each other, and think that dropping in a few marketing buzz-words makes them sound knowledgeable, and intelligent...

Only to then epically fail to work out how to measure out a quanity of liquid, a simple sum that my 9 year old DD could have done for them, in about 3 seconds flat grin

sassytheFIRST Thu 16-May-13 21:56:05

Yes. It's the intelligent(ish) woman's route to fame - as opposed to Big Brother for the less well educated.

Ilikethebreeze Thu 16-May-13 21:56:08

Its a TV show.
Everything else comes after that.

hermioneweasley Thu 16-May-13 21:56:08

I remember a woman who was a serious political force in the democratic party (Donna Brazile?) saying something like - "wear flat shoes. Men don't click clack along the corridors of power and nor should you."

eccentrica Thu 16-May-13 21:57:07

They all need a boil wash and a hair cut. Grim. And not attractive except to their male equivalents. Who are also hideous.

hermioneweasley Thu 16-May-13 21:58:32

Ilike - I get that it's a TV show, and clearly very good at entertaining us all. It's just that there's been such a noticeable change in how the women look this series and for many of us it is in such sharp contrast to our experience of women in the workplace (what this show claims to be about).

hermioneweasley Thu 16-May-13 22:00:05

Eccentrica - you can talk! Aren't you the triple breasted whore of Eroticon 6 (or SImilar?)

Decoy Thu 16-May-13 22:01:31

YANBU. I don't like the look of any of them.

I don't agree that "taking care of your appearance" has anything to do with make-up, hair extensions, fake tan, false nails or stupidly uncomfortable stilettos.

As long as someone looks clean and tidy, none of the above are required.

LaQueen Thu 16-May-13 22:01:52

Jaz (who went out in the first episode) was actually my BF at sixth form college.

Lost touch with her about 20 years ago, was quite shock to see her on The Apprentice.

Lovely, lovely girl - and very, very smart. Huge smiles all the time, and bags of energy - but mind like a steel trap.

BOF Thu 16-May-13 22:04:06

I saw that, LaQueen! How weird. She was probably the best of the bunch- certainly a refreshing change from the business barbies. Will you get back in touch with her? I'm sure she'd welcome it.

KarlosKKrinkelbeim Thu 16-May-13 22:10:40

I don't think women in any serious profession present like this, physically or in terms of their conduct. but the men are similarly poorly presented. I also have to despair at the British education system if these are typical products of it. Jaz, mind like a steel trap? Seriously? Yours must have been a very undemanding school!

Ilikethebreeze Thu 16-May-13 22:11:48

But it is a TV show.
If it stayed the same year after year, I presume ratings would drop.

BOF Thu 16-May-13 22:21:28

I think that Shugger tried to make it more serious last year, and it bombed, so now they have gone in a more overt direction of Big Brother Does Business. It's a telly show primarily, and it needs ratings.

PatriciaHolm Thu 16-May-13 22:39:42

They've all got at least half an eye on the post-show celeb circuit that they know can be theirs for the taking, that's the problem. They know the chance is they won't win, so are the kind of people who want to milk the TV appearance for all that it's worth - it's inevitable as the format ages and people realise what an appearance on reality TV can do.

No actual serious business person would appear on the show, surely!

LaQueen Thu 16-May-13 22:45:32

Karlos - it wasn't school. It was a sixth form college. And, yes she was extremely clever...mad as a box of frogs, granted, half the time...but very, very sharp.

LaQueen Thu 16-May-13 22:46:16

BOF I would like to, we shall see smile

KarlosKKrinkelbeim Thu 16-May-13 22:50:32

She kept the sharp mind well hidden during her TV appearance!

qualitytoffee Thu 16-May-13 22:50:55

Its now a parody of itself, i have a brain for business and a body for sin that says it all! (except they have neither, and thats just the men) Cue DM in close up shots!

GetOrfMoiLand Thu 16-May-13 22:54:35

Nobody compares to Saira from series one. She was brilliant I think.

I don't care what they look like, most of them come across as thick as pigshit, I can't imagine any of them doing well in business. Unless they work for some low rent recruitment consultancy. <sniffs>

GetOrfMoiLand Thu 16-May-13 22:56:05

I like Miss Hardbroom.

I also liked Jaz but someone got it right in the first thread in that she behaved in a very cliched teacher like manner, she shouldn't have gone in the first round though,

notnowbernard Thu 16-May-13 22:59:33

Was Saira Series 1? shock

My favourite episode was her and ?James trying to flog the wolf jumpers

And who was the guy in the final 3 with her who was into property... slimy fucker

And the lovely Tim won smile Wonder whay he's doing now?

notnowbernard Thu 16-May-13 23:00:03

sorry, off-couse a bit there blush

GetOrfMoiLand Thu 16-May-13 23:00:23

That is my fave bit as well Bernard, where they laughed and laughed at the wolf fleeces. Really funny.

GetOrfMoiLand Thu 16-May-13 23:00:56

YES that Italian guy. Short with lots of hair product, Mario, Lorenzo or something.

GetOrfMoiLand Thu 16-May-13 23:02:32

Haha I just looked it up, he was called Paul.

I am a twat. Lorenzo FFS. grin

I agree, we've been talking about it in work.
None of them would be taken seriously in an actual office. Inappropriate clothing for an actual boardroom.
Skirts too short and makeup for a night out.

Tripping around homebase in heels like that on a deadline? Seriously?

The girl who went out this week (don't know her name) was fired because she was a bit quiet, not good for good tv ratings. Programme is getting to be a bit disappointing.

notnowbernard Thu 16-May-13 23:02:57

And the automatonesque Miriam who turned out to be AMAZING at selling on the shopping channel

Can't remember that other bloke's name...

squoosh Thu 16-May-13 23:03:01

Tim was great, and James who had to flog the wolf fleeces on QVC, Raef and The Badger.

My favourite 'worst' contestant was Stuart who told Clinton's cards that if they didn't buy his Green greetings cards it was the same as George W Bush saying he didn't give a fuck about the enivronment.....or something.

GetOrfMoiLand Thu 16-May-13 23:03:58

Miriam was brilliant wasn't she.

notnowbernard Thu 16-May-13 23:04:38

Paul! grin

The boardroom bits in the earlier series always seemed more tense yet professional...

It's all a load of old bolsh or bitching now, eh? Disappointing

squoosh Thu 16-May-13 23:05:14

Simon selling the trampolines was brillian too!

notnowbernard Thu 16-May-13 23:06:00

Didn't AS admit she was the one contestant he regretted getting rid of (ie that he'd made a mistake)
Miriam, btw

BOF Thu 16-May-13 23:08:18

Miriam was a legend.

GetOrfMoiLand Thu 16-May-13 23:10:06

I am still laughing at Lorenzo.

<pours more wine>

notnowbernard Thu 16-May-13 23:11:32

<bell rings distantly>

Was it Paul LORENZO, Getorf?

GetOrfMoiLand Thu 16-May-13 23:12:37

No it was Paul Torrisi,

Perhaps he has an uncle Lorenzo, grin

squoosh Thu 16-May-13 23:12:57

Paul Lorenzo was like a Harry Enfield character, a man made of oil.

notnowbernard Thu 16-May-13 23:13:12

No, scrap that I've just had a quick Google, am WAY off course there

notnowbernard Thu 16-May-13 23:13:40

cross post!

Bumpotato Thu 16-May-13 23:17:39

Does the way they look make any difference to their ability to do a job?

notnowbernard Thu 16-May-13 23:25:14

Bumpotato, no of course not but it's interesting that there's no Quaker-style types isn't it

ALL the candidates look the same - the men also

Bumpotato Thu 16-May-13 23:31:27

That made me giggle. My brother is a Quaker and has model good looks ...he's been approached by model agencies and gasp Hollister!

They all have the same team of stylists/make up artists so naturally they'll end up with the same look.

squoosh Thu 16-May-13 23:33:53

Ummmmm, I've always been interested in Quakerism, do you think your brother might be free to give some one on one instruction on this matter?

Mumsyblouse Thu 16-May-13 23:36:37

They all have the same team of stylists/make up artists so naturally they'll end up with the same look.

But why are they all styled to look like they are on TOWIE? They weren't in previous years (Saira- did anyone see her very touching documentary about adopting an abandoned baby from Pakistan?)

The Badger would not have been persuaded into hair extensions. No.

GetOrfMoiLand Thu 16-May-13 23:38:46

What about that rather nice albeit petulant looking woman (we all said she needed to wash her hair and stop wearing red lipstick mind you) who did well one year, I think when Stella won. Story about her swinging with her husband came out at the time whic I thought was AWFUL for her.

GetOrfMoiLand Thu 16-May-13 23:39:35

Anyway she was in her late 30s and wasn't particularly well groomed, but did well.

notnowbernard Thu 16-May-13 23:40:06

Lorraine?

GetOrfMoiLand Thu 16-May-13 23:40:48

Perhaps she was called Lorenzo grin

Bumpotato Thu 16-May-13 23:41:38

grin Squoosh ... He's currently a medical student and wants to work in third world countries/war zones when he qualifies.

He's just so....worthy. I'm beginning to wonder if he's even actually related to me hmm

munchkinmaster Thu 16-May-13 23:45:51

DH says Usma looks like the bo selecta version of Brittany spears

munchkinmaster Thu 16-May-13 23:51:55
squoosh Thu 16-May-13 23:51:55

Hollister model who also works as doctor for Médecins Sans Frontières, he sounds horrendous!!

<steps on Bumpotato's head to get to her brother>

Bumpotato Fri 17-May-13 00:00:10

Lol he turn down Hollister in order to volunteer in an old folks' home. He now works part time with a SEN young adult, helping him be independent so he can leave home in the future.

Worthy, I tell you though he gets his looks from big sis

squoosh Fri 17-May-13 00:05:37

He does sound very worthy, I can help him fix that!

Bumpotato Fri 17-May-13 00:08:34

Plenty of others have tried...though it would be fun having another Mnetter at my weekend piss ups BBQs!

squoosh Fri 17-May-13 00:45:27

Believe me, I could corrupt him. Not sure his sister would like to hear the actual details though! grin

Bumpotato Fri 17-May-13 00:53:09

Good God, no. The corrupting I don't mind but spare me the details hands over ears singing lalala
