I'm off to see Iron Man III tomorrow, but I'd love to see RDJ in a non-blockbuster film. he's such a good actor and I'd like to see him in something like Kiss Kiss Bang Bang again.
(yes, a totally frivolous thread, I know)

elQuintoConyo Sat 27-Apr-13 22:40:57

Oh, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang <swoons>

He told Empire that he'd be happy to spend the rest of his career bouncing between Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes. Good god, I hope not <wails>

I loved his Chaplin and his slimey murdering bastard in Short Cuts.

carlajean Sat 27-Apr-13 22:44:52

I do love him in Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes, but it's such a waste...

PoppyWearer Sat 27-Apr-13 22:45:32

How TF does he plan to win an Oscar doing this shite?

carlajean Sat 27-Apr-13 22:46:16

I don't think he's bothered

AgentZigzag Sat 27-Apr-13 22:47:27

I love him <sick smile>

Wonder whether he's got any nob attachments to his suit...?

You lucky fucker going to see III tomorrow, come back and give us a review please?

carlajean Sat 27-Apr-13 22:50:01

will do smile . I just hope it's as good as Iron Man, and not as crap as Iron Man II.

CatelynStark Sat 27-Apr-13 22:50:18

I saw Iron Man 3 today. 'Twas BRILL! grin

CoolStoryBro Sat 27-Apr-13 22:52:06

I wouldn't care if he spent thd rest of his career playing IronMan 50000 times. He does a brilliant Ironman!

carlajean Sat 27-Apr-13 22:56:28

it's like it was written for him, but he is capable of so much more. If any of you haven't seen him in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, watch it, it's great(I think that I'll have to go and watch that Elton John video he did again)

MrsBombastic Sat 27-Apr-13 22:57:52

I'm going to see Ion Man 3 on weds... I love him in anything TBH. grin

Talkinpeace Sat 27-Apr-13 23:11:06
TidyDancer Sat 27-Apr-13 23:12:52

I loved him back in the Less Than Zero days.

And I agree with the Elton John video. Loved that.

Also his stint in Ally McBeal.

peeriebear Sat 27-Apr-13 23:13:06

I'd watch him cleaning out my pond. I'd FILM IT.

I wouldn't watch Iron Man or Sherlock Holmes but I do think he's a good actor.

Wish he'd make something interesting - apologies to those who think the above are good but to me they are tripe

Trill Sat 27-Apr-13 23:17:18

Am I horribly young that the first thing I remember him in is Ally McBeal?

I have no wish to see Iron Man 3 and I saw 10 minutes of Sherlock and thought it was shit.

But RDJ is my older man crush. I have no idea why but I would very happily do things to him

TidyDancer Sat 27-Apr-13 23:18:54

Trill, other than LTZ, that's what I know him from. I'm 29 btw.

Trill Sat 27-Apr-13 23:30:56

I really like the Elton John video where Elton John (right, MO) realises that wed much rather look at RDJ than at him.

Trill Sat 27-Apr-13 23:33:56
AgentZigzag Sat 27-Apr-13 23:36:26

I was a bit hmm about the Hollywoodising of Sherlock (I used to like watching Jeremy Brett in the ITV versions grin), but RDJ/JL combo was really good and the Guy Ritchie treatment did wonders for it.

GreenPeppercorn Sat 27-Apr-13 23:38:49

Look, I didn't want to have to do this, but, I have made a very personal film that involves me and RDJ. For the bargain price of just £500 I can grant you access to that film. No.......?

GreenPeppercorn Sat 27-Apr-13 23:39:56

It might sound like he is screaming to get away but that's just how we roll.

AgentZigzag Sat 27-Apr-13 23:49:01

Well he never mentioned that to me as I was locking him in the shed Green, words will have to be had I think.

AgentZigzag Sat 27-Apr-13 23:52:05

Just thinking about how bad those posts would sound if it was a man saying it about an actress shock

<flicks over to shedcam to see how iron man suit progressing...realises fatal flaw in plan that he's only an actor>

GreenPeppercorn Sat 27-Apr-13 23:54:42

Look, Agent, I hate to have to be the one who says it....but...he isn't going to tell YOU about it is he? After what happened the last time he was at yours? With the cling film? And the fish paste Foie Gras? Really, just leave it, yeah?

comewithmeandtakethiscity Sat 27-Apr-13 23:54:47

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

AgentZigzag Sun 28-Apr-13 00:00:42

shock he's for it now telling you about the cling film, the punishment of not coming out until he's tidied the shit we've got stored in there will be ample pay back <evil>

Look, we have to put our differences aside when there are posters like comewithme calling him bland angry

ScumbagCollegeDropout Sun 28-Apr-13 10:01:41

He was fab in Iron Man 3. As long as the blockbusters are of the Iron Man/Avengers/Sherlock Holmes calibre then it is a-okay with me.

Saying that though, I am more of a Mark Ruffalo girl and those 2-3 mins of him at the very end was oh so worth sitting through the credits for grin

PurpleThing Sun 28-Apr-13 10:06:41

All you RDJ lovers, have you seen Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus? He's entirely, entirely covered in hair but still manages to be charismatic and sexy as anything.

BrianCoxandTheTempleofDOOM Sun 28-Apr-13 10:07:49

I loved him in Ally McBeal <swoon>

not sure I've seen many films with him in . I found Sherlock embarrassingly bad. haven't seen Iron Man (think I need to)

My poor man's RDJ is Jeffrey Dean Morgan - very shaggable IMO, in a RDJ kinda way grin

Beaverfeaver Sun 28-Apr-13 10:10:06

This is his last iron man film for that very reason

mrsjay Sun 28-Apr-13 10:23:19

least he isnt in rehab or jail when he is making these blockbusters keeps him occupied and busy and he is an actor and slogged away in films so why not do these big films he gets exposure a shedload of money and is having a ball id expect,

mrsjay Sun 28-Apr-13 10:24:20

I love him as sherlock holmes it is kick arse grin

carlajean Sun 28-Apr-13 10:38:50

I thought Sherlock I was terrible, but II was pretty good. is it def. his last Iron Man then beaver? Fur is just plain weird. and yes, I think he is probably having a ball, but would like to see him in something else. mind you, Due Date was awful - anyone else see that?

mrsjay Sun 28-Apr-13 10:40:39

Due Date was awful - anyone else see that

<nods> awful film,

Alconleigh Sun 28-Apr-13 10:44:00

He is excellent in wonder boys. If you've not had your eye on him since Weird Science you're a newbie in my view. Man alive I'm getting old.

carlajean Sun 28-Apr-13 10:46:45

yes, great in the Wonder Boys, and Zodiac.

Ally mcbeal and the elton video were my 'firsts' i love him in the creepy in dreams that film is just crazy, also in gothika. I love his style of acting he just screams fantastic-ness from the screen grin iron man filmd leave me shock in happiness but i love action films. The sherlock movie was spectacular guy ritchie really did well but the second i just can't get into.

Air America was my first date with RDJ. 23 years ago. <faints>

Tee2072 Sun 28-Apr-13 11:33:14

Oh yes, his Less Than Zero days when he was so high and/or drunk he barely knew where he was.

That's so much better than now...

carlajean Sun 28-Apr-13 20:05:06

IM3 was great by the way, and it passed the Bechdel Test. the only hmm thing, to me, anyway, was that Shane Black directly referenced Kiss Kiss Bang Bang by having RDJ doing a monologue directly to the viewer at each end of the film. Anyone else the Rebecca Hall character will come back as Poison Ivy, or a similar anti-heroine (I think Poison Ivy might be DC comics). if you see it, stay put until the credits end.

pissovski Sun 28-Apr-13 21:26:12

Alconleigh - with you at Weird Science. And he looks so adorable in it, even if he is being an arse!

CoolStoryBro Mon 29-Apr-13 04:35:37

Anyone remember this

CoolStoryBro Mon 29-Apr-13 04:37:15

Oh I've just read back. Apparently yes you all do!!

TheFallenNinja Mon 29-Apr-13 06:56:33

Tropic Thunder - genius

fuzzypicklehead Thu 02-May-13 03:21:31

Ahem. this grin

I lived him in Heart and Souls and especially in Only You with Marisa Tomei. Been loving him since Weird Science <swoon>

bootsycollins Thu 02-May-13 06:02:10

RDJ's a total sweetheart but it all got a bit akward after I had to get that injunction out on him. At first I'll admit I was very flattered but the constant phonecalls, flowers and attempts to woo me eventually just annoyed me. Robert just had to accept the fact that I'm a happily married woman, he's a great guy though and I wish him well.

Tee2072 Thu 02-May-13 06:20:50

Excellent fun, Ironman Three.

Who had said it's the last one?

Tee2072 Thu 02-May-13 06:43:17

I just looked. Cheadel says he thought it should be the last one. RDJ and Marvel are looking at another contract, especially because if The Avengers.

GenghisCanDoHisOwnWashing Thu 02-May-13 06:50:12

ScumbagCollegeDropOut - shock shock shock ruffallo was at the end of iron man 3?? Dh and I sat until the credits went to the black screen with small written credits rolling and then left. Did we miss something ???<hyperventilates>

<slightly obsessed with avengers>

Tee2072 Thu 02-May-13 06:53:10

Yes, you missed something at the very end.

GenghisCanDoHisOwnWashing Thu 02-May-13 07:10:46

<stands on Tee with ironman suit>
