To put my Dad and his partner in separate rooms when they come to stay with me?

After all, they are not married and surely it is a case of "Not under MY roof!!".

DF is 79 and his partner is 78.

AIBU? grin

Sheshelob Sun 21-Apr-13 21:49:20

Hahaha.

You are kidding, right?

Kubalai Sun 21-Apr-13 21:49:28

Yanbu - your house, your rules grin

Haha no YANBU. Do it!

MousyMouse Sun 21-Apr-13 21:49:45

do you think this will stop them romping?

AnyFucker Germany Sun 21-Apr-13 21:49:47

erm...

did your parents do that to you when you were a whipper snapper ?

in that case, YANBU grin

yes smile

Snazzynewyear Sun 21-Apr-13 21:50:28

YANBU and I would also tell them if they don't eat all their main, they won't get any pudding. You have to lay the law down, you know.

ChippingInLovesSpring Sun 21-Apr-13 21:51:31

YANBU

But please set up a video recorder for when you tell them grin

Fairylea Sun 21-Apr-13 21:51:38

Keep popping in their room at regular (very regular) intervals with tea and biscuits
.... and make sure they keep the door open smile

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere Sun 21-Apr-13 21:54:25

grin I was living with my fiance (at the time - someone else's H now!) and we were not allowed to sleep together in my room.

So, seems that the wheel has turned and now, it is MY turn to say "My house, my rules!"

Mouseymouse, for god's sake, get real. This is my FATHER!! He only had sex 5 times with my mother - I had 4 sisters. He NEVER EVER EVER even tried it any other time so, no, there will be no romping in My House.

Sheshelob, yes, I am joking. But I so very, very tempted to tell them this. I know DF will get it, but not sure about his beloved, so best I just have a laugh to myself and let it be.

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere Sun 21-Apr-13 21:55:27

Chipping, I first read the bit about setting up a video recorder!! I nearly had to put my thoughts on a hot, bleach wash! Then I realised it was for when I tell them. Thank fuck for that.

HoneyDragon Sun 21-Apr-13 21:55:57

I think you should give them a chance to earn your respect. Let them share but insist the door stays open.

MousyMouse Sun 21-Apr-13 21:56:10

grin
yes of course, every sperm is sacred and all that wink

DontSHOUTTTTTT Sun 21-Apr-13 21:56:19

That is funny. You must at least tease him about it.

SirBoobAlot Sun 21-Apr-13 21:58:46

Please do this. And then post on MN immediately afterwards.

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere Sun 21-Apr-13 22:04:16

I will do so, and then report back! It will be in a few days, though. They will not be here for another 4 days.

PlasticLentilWeaver Sun 21-Apr-13 22:28:09

I would be sooo tempted by this. In fact, do it, please do it.

I'm 40 and still haven't had sex with DH under my parents roof, after 10 years of marriage.

Do it, do it for me. And my ongoing repression!

BlackeyedSusan England Sun 21-Apr-13 22:32:32

you also must tell him off for leaving lights on/banging cupboad doors/leaving doos open/wasting hot water/leaving the fridge open while he gets something out*

delete as appropiate.

grin

frazmum Mon 22-Apr-13 06:59:07

Also tell them that the floorboards in the hallway creak so you'll know if there is any sneaking around in the night. My DM and Stepdad would think it hilarious if I'd told them that in the time before they were married (both in their 60's when married).

MoaneyMcmoanmoan Mon 22-Apr-13 07:03:47

Yes and make sure you give him a curfew if he pops out anywhere.

Mrsdavidcaruso Mon 22-Apr-13 07:31:18

Also make sure if they do 'romp' they have protection you do NOT want a little brother or sister in 9 months time

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere Mon 22-Apr-13 20:27:42

Blackeyedsusan, I reckon we have the same father!! I could not walk out of a room for a minute without being sent back to switch the light off.

Funny, though... I will call DS from downstairs if he has left his light on!!

meditrina Mon 22-Apr-13 20:35:45

You put them in separate rooms, and ignore any corridor creeping.

It'll heighten their pleasure.

Bridgetbidet Mon 22-Apr-13 20:41:28

Just strip the house of vaseline, moisturiser, olive oil, sunflower oil, axle grease. Without lube they're fucked. Or, er, not perhaps.

bubblesinthesky Mon 22-Apr-13 21:38:25

YANBU

You can also do what my gran did to my parents before they were married and stand at the bottom of the stairs shouting up "I hope you two are being careful up there, I don't want any extra sheet to wash"

LatteLady Mon 22-Apr-13 21:42:46

Get the basics right, you will need to sit between them on the sofa to set the tone.

If possible one should be upstairs and the other downstairs, try to put the one with the dodgy hip downstairs, this will dissuade them from getting together late at night.

You may need to have the "chat" with them... or maybe your DH can talk to your dad about stepping up to his responsibilities. Now if you are allowing them to stay, have you thought about ringing her children, they need to know too.

IneedAyoniNickname Mon 22-Apr-13 21:47:56

Op are you my mum? Oh no, you can't be as grandad is older than your dad.

However she had a rule that once we had left home and moved in with a partner, wet could share a room when we stayed over. Until then it didn't happen.

Grandad doesn't live with his dp, and I did ask my mum if she enforced the rule on them. She said she didn't think either of them would want to sleep in the bunk bed grin

ComposHat Belgium Tue 23-Apr-13 05:06:27

cmon at nearly 80, the only thing he is going to get up five times a night is to go and have a piss.

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere Tue 23-Apr-13 18:39:21

Bubblesinthesky, I kid you not: when my Dad and his partner moved, I helped them sort a few things out, including making their bed. Partner says she was not too fussed about the mattress cover because "it is not as if we are trying for babies".

Composhat: I bloody well hope so.

Maryz Cote D'Ivoire Tue 23-Apr-13 18:51:46

My Granny put my mum and dad in bunk beds when they had been married for four years and had my older brother and me. She was terrified they would end up with a third child. My little brother was conceived that weekend [arf]
