To only want white toilet roll in my house?

MrsBertMacklin Wed 10-Apr-13 17:44:51

DP has bought peach toilet roll.

It is on the toilet roll holder.

It is making my teeth itch every time I walk past.

Toilet roll needs to be white. Coloured loo roll is the work of the devil.

At least he has hung it the right way round, though.

beenhereayear Wed 10-Apr-13 17:46:15

YANBU, why would he do this, leave him for someone sane!!

Gosh, I didn't even know you could get coloured toilet roll anymore! Thought it catered for the coloured bathroom suites which everybody ripped out years ago!

hellhasnofurylikeahungrywoman Wed 10-Apr-13 17:47:10

If you ABU then I am too. There is no place in this world for coloured toilet rolls.

Dolallytats Wed 10-Apr-13 17:47:34

YANBU!! And if that wasn't bad enough, he chose peach??? LTB!!

CuntiestMNer Wed 10-Apr-13 17:48:26

Yanbu. He'll be wanting an avocado bathroom suite next.

Yabu to use the phrase "making my teeth itch'.

kinkyfuckery Wed 10-Apr-13 17:49:05

I don't even understand why they make coloured toilet paper!

FruOla Wed 10-Apr-13 17:49:13

YANBU - it has to be white.

But perhaps he went to a small shop that only had peach coloured though? Better some loo roll than none at all?!

CuntiestMNer Wed 10-Apr-13 17:49:56

"At least he has hung it the right way round, though."

like this presumably

UtterflyButterfly Wed 10-Apr-13 17:49:58

YANBU. Does DH realise the angst he has caused?

squoosh Wed 10-Apr-13 17:50:18

Only white paper is good enough for my snow white, rose scented poo.

IWishIWasSheRa Wed 10-Apr-13 17:50:39

My nan has patterned peach!!!

StuffezLaBouche Wed 10-Apr-13 17:51:51

I have stuff with coloured owls and stars on - tragically it cheers me up!

M25Meltdown Wed 10-Apr-13 17:53:20

Coloured paper. LTB

I think I read somewhere that there is a higher incidence of cystitis for people who use coloured toilet paper confused

CuntiestMNer Wed 10-Apr-13 17:53:38

Those poor owls... sad

MrsBertMacklin Wed 10-Apr-13 17:54:41

I want to cry, except we're out of tissues and I don't want to touch the stuff

CuntiestMN Affirmative, that is the right way to hang toilet paper.

shrimponastick Wed 10-Apr-13 17:55:17

But - at least he bought some. He could have spent all afternoon cutting newspaper up into arse wiping sized squares and threading them on to a loop of string.

M25Meltdown Wed 10-Apr-13 17:56:55

That is the only way to hang toilet paper.

Bowlersarm Wed 10-Apr-13 17:57:21

I only buy coloured loo roll now as apparently to make it white it's bleached to within an inch if it's life and therefore very very very bad for environment

NeoMaxiZoomDweebie Wed 10-Apr-13 17:58:33

I also have owls and stars in addition to seahorses and other seaside related things.

I saw it in M&S and I wanted it so there.

sherazade Wed 10-Apr-13 17:59:57

YABU. there is nothing akin to walking down the loo roll aisle and thinking, 'I wonder which colour bog roll suits my mood this week. I am going to have a purple/peach/plain/scented/waffley/value week this week.'. It is a very empowering feeling and I suggest you try it.

AaDB Wed 10-Apr-13 18:00:31

Simon Cowell has black rolls in his blingtastic lab. envy angry envy

White, paper over the top of the roll is the only way.

CuntiestMNer Wed 10-Apr-13 18:00:58

Peach is never empowering.

Do they make deep purple loo roll?

ClaraOswald Wed 10-Apr-13 18:01:22

That is most definitely the wrong way to hang toilet roll in this house.

We hang it the other way because we have two cats who used to unroll tonnes of the bastards if they were hung that way.

YANBU - by law only white should be available.

My DH once got coloured toilet paper, note it was just the once wink

shrimponastick Wed 10-Apr-13 18:01:27

May as well make it brown. confused

Messandmayhem Wed 10-Apr-13 18:01:30

YANBU, coloured loo roll is wrong

StuffezLaBouche Wed 10-Apr-13 18:01:47

Yessss! You can be my pal Neo!
Incidentally, Aldi do an awful loo roll called aroma - it's scented. Of all the products you really wouldn't want to go around sniffing...

squoosh Wed 10-Apr-13 18:01:55

Black toilet roll you say? I don't approve. You'd have to peer very carefully to make sure all 'debris' had been wiped from bumhole onto said paper.

itshothere Wed 10-Apr-13 18:02:26

Only white here and it has to put on the right way....or else! My MIL has toilet roll patterned with bright flowers and stars and shells adorning her loo. God knows where she gets it? I may have to stop using her facility until she stops buying it

Calabria Wed 10-Apr-13 18:03:17

My in-laws have several loos in their house and all of them have different patterned loo roll, some of which is scented.

Nice for a change (except the scented stuff - puke).

Luckily DH and I agree on white only.

NumTumDeDum Wed 10-Apr-13 18:04:28

DP was given novelty toilet paper one christmas by his mother. It had crosswords on it. Never again. He spends long enough in the toilet. To be discouraged at all costs.

Dawndonna Wed 10-Apr-13 18:05:56

I only have white. But stars and seahorses appeal, I may have to have a wander tomorrow!

SirChenjin Wed 10-Apr-13 18:06:01

YANBU at all. DH bought some coloured stuff recently (he's colour blind, quite why I trusted him I don't know) and I used far more than was necessary for each wipe just to finish the stuff off so that we could return to white.

I also get quite twitchy when he returns home with <shudder> patterned kitchen roll.

ExcuseTypos Wed 10-Apr-13 18:07:48

I've never heard anything so shockingshock

It's definitely grounds for divorce.

chickensaladagain Wed 10-Apr-13 18:07:57

Coloured paper never flushes away properly either -don't know why but it is a fact in my mum's house anyway

EverythingInMjiniature Wed 10-Apr-13 18:09:05

I like that pale creamy yellow one best, but I think I'm on my own.

Bowlersarm Wed 10-Apr-13 18:10:50

You Are All Wrong! Not least because you are using the word 'toilet' wink

Bathroom suites should be white - loo paper coloured

AnyoneforTurps Wed 10-Apr-13 18:14:50

You are most certainly NBU. Especially peach <<<<shudders>>>>>

Bluebell99 Wed 10-Apr-13 18:15:05

I have pretty toilet roll with stars and owls and dots and patterns. You can buy it in waitrose of course smile Made by Andrex I think.

digerd Wed 10-Apr-13 18:17:23

When we had a white suite but pink tiles on floor and walls < my choice>, we had pink loo roll.

In Germany some years ago, they had much cheaper recycled paper loo rolls, and DH said we'll use them.
They were hard and a grey colour.

Now I use soft white quilted.

UnChartered Wed 10-Apr-13 18:18:43

unless it's blue

i rather like blue toilet roll, but do buy white

what i can't abide though is NNs for toilet roll.

like 'loo roll' wtaf is a 'loo' anyhow?

or 'shit tickets' <eyes DS>

PickledInAPearTree Wed 10-Apr-13 18:21:43

Or poo paper <eyes dp who is old enough to know better>

I can do any colour but peach.

UnChartered Wed 10-Apr-13 18:29:04

bum rub, anyone <boak>

and anyone who calls it toilet tissue has to eat a whole roll

BlackholesAndRevelations Wed 10-Apr-13 18:38:50

On my packet of White toilet roll from the co-op, it was called "bathroom tissue" or something similarly WTF?

On another note, YABU as really who cares what you wipe your bum with as long as it's soft enough not to scratch, and absorbent enough not to need half a roll each time. I can't buy the patterned paper however; it just seems far too pretty to wipe shit!

BlackholesAndRevelations Wed 10-Apr-13 18:40:56

My DM has toilet roll to match each bathroom! Pink in en suite, White in main bathroom, peach (yes I know) in downstairs loo!

FruOla Wed 10-Apr-13 19:03:31

How.Very.Dare.You Bowlersarm - I hope you noticed that, waaaay upthread, I mentioned loo roll? grin

PickleSarnie Wed 10-Apr-13 19:10:16
almapudden Wed 10-Apr-13 19:11:35

DP has bought blue loo roll angry. Normally I get annoyed at the amount he uses but this week I am encouraging him to use far more than is necessary. I will not have my bathroom sullied with colouref lavatory paper!

chickensaladagain Wed 10-Apr-13 19:14:37

is bog roll an acceptable term?

PipkinsPal Wed 10-Apr-13 19:19:48

YANBU, since having a white tiled bathroom I have only bought white toilet roll. People who buy pastel coloured toilet roll may as well have a knitted crinoline lady to cover it up or worse still a knitted poodle.

wonkylegs Wed 10-Apr-13 19:22:17

I tried to get some of this stuff
for DHs stocking at Christmas but it had sold out grin

paperworry Wed 10-Apr-13 19:24:15

My ds has ASD and will only use Andrex Shea Butter - nothing else will do.I can only hope that they never discontinue it sad

Peach! shock
I won't even have white, only neutral.

littlepeas Wed 10-Apr-13 19:28:34

I go to m&s specifically to buy their white loo rolls with silver stars on.....don't do coloured roll though.

MrsBertMacklin Wed 10-Apr-13 19:28:39

or worse still a knitted poodle

I read that as knitted paedophile blush

I've relegated the peach stuff to 'emergency only' and swapped out for white. Feel much better now.

Bowlersarm Wed 10-Apr-13 19:31:24

chicken of course bog roll is perfectly acceptable.

fru apologies you were the very excellent exception to everyone saying - yeuch - toilet

rockinhippy Wed 10-Apr-13 19:34:45

YANBU - he is even so evil that he is putting your health at risk, those colours, & I believe especially the nastiest ones such as peach - gives you thrush you knowwink

HappyDogRedDogToss Wed 10-Apr-13 19:36:29

I believe it is referred to as "champagne" coloured, not peach.

Cravingdairy Wed 10-Apr-13 19:36:49

YANBU. My parents have peach toilet roll and I hate it passionately.

FreshLeticia Wed 10-Apr-13 19:36:49

oh dear, LTB definitely

RenterNomad Wed 10-Apr-13 20:16:12

LOL at "shit tickets"!

RenterNomad Wed 10-Apr-13 20:19:55

"Bog roll" is indeed acceptable, chickensaladagain. It's extremely lofty and educated to be amused by scatological matters, viz the (Monty) Python boys' Oxbridge backgrounds!

apostropheuse Wed 10-Apr-13 20:47:38

It's illegal to have coloured arse roll.

thegreylady Wed 10-Apr-13 20:49:32

Apparently some of the coloured ones have nasty chemicals which were said to increase all sorts of health risks.better a bit of bleach I think grin

ALittleStranger Wed 10-Apr-13 22:00:14

YANBU - coloured paper is awful. Especially the blue stuff, it makes me worry I'm diseased.

ALittleStranger Wed 10-Apr-13 22:01:10

paperworry I love the shea butter stuff, but the brown wrapper is just wrong.

RFLmum Wed 10-Apr-13 22:10:08

When I was little my mum bought this shiny hard paper sort. It had a specially treated non absorbent shiny surface. I wont elaborate on its performance. Even that was white thoughsmile

foreverondiet Wed 10-Apr-13 23:05:56

I haven't bought white toilet roll for years due to the chlorine bleach.

PelvicFloorClenchReminder Wed 10-Apr-13 23:18:20
MrsGrowbag Wed 10-Apr-13 23:23:05

RFLMum That was Izal! My Great Aunt had it as did my primary school. anything that came into contact with it just slid off again as I remember... fairly disgusting but it said "medicated" on the box so I think people thought it was more hygienic. They were so, so wrong.....

Filofax Wed 10-Apr-13 23:24:10

White bog roll only here. And white towels. I also have a strong white bed linen theme. I possibly have issues..,

Still18atheart Wed 10-Apr-13 23:24:32

YANBU Loo roll needs to be white. However, I thought that peach coloured loo paper was supposed to be more eco - friendly.

ravenAK Wed 10-Apr-13 23:29:56

Remove the peach loo roll, stick it in a cupboard somewhere. Replace with correctly hung white paper.

There will come a day when the norovirus hits on the same day as 'flu AND your local corner shop is closed due to a rabies outbreak. You'll be jolly glad of it then...

AudrinaAdare Wed 10-Apr-13 23:36:39

We would have this lavatory paper in our house if we could afford to buy it.

ForYourEyesYoni Wed 10-Apr-13 23:46:04

I use bleachy-white loo roll to save me the bother of toothpasting my starfish.

ripsishere Thu 11-Apr-13 01:37:24

We saw some black stuff in the local supermarket last week.
DD was very keen that I should buy four rolls.
Since four cost the same as 12, I said no.
I am concerned I have stunted her in some way.

ripsishere Thu 11-Apr-13 01:38:00

12 compact therefore more economical white bathroom tissue.

ComposHat Thu 11-Apr-13 01:44:38

I miss the days of coloured bathroom suites and co-ordinating bog roll. In the 70s and 80s, wiping your arse on a colour co-ordinated shit ticket was seen as the height of sophistication.

White bathroom suits smack of bland anonymity and are a step backwards for humankind. If I ever own a home, I would want to install or preserve the existing coloured bathroom suit.

sashh Thu 11-Apr-13 03:59:08

That is most definitely the wrong way to hang toilet roll in this house.

I suspect you have never used an outside toilet.

Leave the bastard

TheRealFellatio Thu 11-Apr-13 04:47:51

YANBU. and not only that, but if a colour really must be used then peach is absolutely the vilest colour to pick.

Peach is always a vile colour. Even peaches aren't fucking peach are they? hmm

Frescolita Thu 11-Apr-13 07:55:56

Ummm....*DP has bought peach toilet roll*. DP has bought ...toilet roll. Jealous! My DH does not buy toilet roll- white, peach, printed or any other colour. He casually observes, after using the last sheet on the last roll in the house, "honey, we (you) might need to buy toilet roll".

Messandmayhem Thu 11-Apr-13 13:03:39

I forgot to buy loo roll at asda and last night I had to go out to the corner shop where all I could get was blue loo roll shock

Doubtfuldaphne Thu 11-Apr-13 13:08:32

Simon cowell uses black - just something I'd drop in here. I don't know why or how I know this..

And dh brought home some blue scented loo roll recently. Loads of it. sad

Calabria Thu 11-Apr-13 15:41:02
anklebitersmum Thu 11-Apr-13 15:50:53

Izal loo paper.

My Grandpa used to use that. We used to use it as tracing paper. He would get most cross about it. Having seen the price of it recently I have to say I now understand his annoyance grin

It was a bit like that slidy stuff that school used to have..that you had to crunch up before trying to dry

LeeCoakley Thu 11-Apr-13 15:59:13

White is awful! Agree with others about the bleached aspect. I haven't bought it in years and dp knows better than to buy white. I'm been buying the Shea Butter stuff as it's been on offer at Tesco but I'm having trouble convincing the dds that you only need a couple of sheets instead of the usual 20 and we have to keep unblocking the toilet angry

Why isn't cream more readily available or off-white (unbleached)?

I buy mega-packs of whatever is on special offer at Costco or their Kirkland own brand.

For Christmas this time I bought M&S white with silver stars (I couldn't bring myself to buy The Snowman bum paper)

I love the M&S rose pattern but it wouldn't go in my bathroom or cloakroom (and I don't think DH would be enamoured)

DrCoconut Thu 11-Apr-13 20:31:14

Our house is a doer upper and we have...wait for it ... a yellow bathroom suite! We can't afford a new one at the moment and it is not broken or dirty so even though it's not fashionable it's here for a while. The possibilities toilet roll wise are quite varied.

ComposHat Fri 12-Apr-13 11:44:07

oh for a coloured bathroom suite! After a lifetime in rented flat s the magnolia and white suite combo is starting to get very samey (apart from a glorious interlude with a blue suite! )

Trills Fri 12-Apr-13 13:53:35

YABU to want only white toilet paper Andrex shea butter paper is beigeish and is the nicest.

YANBU to think that buying peach paper that has no special features is a bad move.

(I mistyped there and wrote "shite toilet paper" to begin with - yes W and S are near to each other on the keyboard!)
