Anyone else find him mildly offensive and hugely irritating for no apparent reason? Get that patronising 'feel'?

AgentZigzag Sat 06-Apr-13 00:13:34

I can't watch enough of him because I can never get why other people find him so offensive.

SneezingwakestheJesus Sat 06-Apr-13 00:14:11

I lurve him. Ever since the David Blaine interview.

DioneTheDiabolist Sat 06-Apr-13 00:14:31

I think he's hilarious.

floatyflo Sat 06-Apr-13 00:15:24

Yup. I always feel for his wife/partner on this morning.

He can be so rude to her sometimes but its always sly and underhand.

And you just see her cringing at the things he comes out with sometimes

tethersend Sat 06-Apr-13 00:16:35

I disagree.

I think he is a massive, massive cunt.

Somethingtothinkabout Sat 06-Apr-13 00:20:21

I always get a really uncomfortable feeling about him. I suspect he is not a nice guy in real life.

Did he not say something on tv that was really offensive a few years ago?

I remember my righteous indignation about it and how it proved he was a git, but can't remember what it was.

jinsymaw Sat 06-Apr-13 00:21:10

I think, that's part of his brusque charm, that he takes the mickey out of everyone including, wifey,Judith. Though you know he thinks the world of her. Give me Down to earth Eamon, over the rest of the toothy white smoothies. But to each his own.

WorraLiberty Sat 06-Apr-13 00:21:48

Can't have been that bad then Something grin

I take him or leave him

WorraLiberty Sat 06-Apr-13 00:22:14

Isn't his wife called Ruth?

floatyflo-reminds me of why I wouldn't work with my dhsmile

Not that he's anything LIKE Eamonn Holmes, but imagine the arguments when you both got home.....grin

No comment on Eamonn, Only seen snippets of the programme, and the bickering, so wouldn't be fair to comment.

AndFanjoWasHisNameO Sat 06-Apr-13 00:27:39

Was it when it came out that he'd bullied Anthea Turner? He called her Princess Tippytoes or similar made me like him even more
I like him and his Missus together-they have quite the double act going on.

ClartyCarol Sat 06-Apr-13 00:28:30

God yes, what the actual fuck does Ruth see in him?

Caught him on TM a few weeks ago leching over some actress in Hollyoaks wesring bright red lippy. After the clip finished he turned to Ruth and smarmed something about "Don't you think if you wore lipstick like that your life would be so much... [tailed off obviously realising he was going to sound like a prize prick]...better?". She just gave him a withering "Er no, that's not me at all" and moved swiftly on.

SabrinaMulhollandJjones Sat 06-Apr-13 00:31:19

He's an arrogant arse.

That is all.

howdoo Sat 06-Apr-13 00:31:33

Agree - there's something about him that makes me think he's a nasty, angry, resentful little bully in his home life. I think it's because he'd like to look like Brad Pitt but he looks like, um, Eamonn Holmes!

SquirrelNuts Sat 06-Apr-13 00:32:00

I dont like him or Ruth, i usually have this morning on, whilst doing all my hosuework, obviously! But i dont bother with it when its them too, both bloody irritating!

AgentZigzag Sat 06-Apr-13 00:32:12

I've only ever seen him on his own on Sky News, maybe if I saw him with his wife I'd get the creepy Richard Madley vibe going on?

Or is that just Richard Madley's creepy vibe?

sjupes Sat 06-Apr-13 00:47:45

I'd honestly take richard over eamon any day - i dislike him and ruth although at one point they were both as smarmy and cuntish as each other.

I think they paired them together to make her seem nice at least compared to him.

I tend not to watch these days as it's gone so downhill but especially when those two are on.

ClartyCarol Sat 06-Apr-13 00:49:42

I find Ruth to be pretty inoffensive really.

WorraLiberty Sat 06-Apr-13 00:54:52

I have to say I totally burst out laughing when he described Anthea Turner as Princess Tippy Toes.

That's exactly how I'd thought of her for years.

If that's his experience of working with her then good on him for saying so.

roundtheback Sat 06-Apr-13 01:01:36

He's not actually very good though. I had a day off today and caught a bit of it, I actually felt embarrassed watching him. It's cringeworthy.

But yes, I suspect his assessment of Anthea Turner was somewhat accurate grin

AgentZigzag Sat 06-Apr-13 01:05:54

I used to quite like Richard and Judy when it was on, but I can't help but notice Madelys hair has taken on a sinister quality in recent years.

It's just Not Right, and makes my skin crawl in the same way a 'rat tail' down the back would before I got the scissors out and did them a favour

K8Middleton Sat 06-Apr-13 01:08:31

He's a shit bag. So yabu to say he's mildly irritating. He is an obnoxious, arrogant shit bag. Although he speaks very highly of me.

AgentZigzag Sat 06-Apr-13 01:10:34

'He's a shit bag. So yabu to say he's mildly irritating. He is an obnoxious, arrogant shit bag. Although he speaks very highly of me.'

Aren't you worried he'll find out you've been badmouthing him on the internet again Ruth? grin

Growlithe Sat 06-Apr-13 01:14:33

He's got a face I would never tire of slapping. And he is an obnoxious Man United fan.

K8Middleton Sat 06-Apr-13 01:18:58

Arf at being Ruth grin

I'd lop off that long bit of hair at the back for a start. It's very ageing.

LadyBeagleEyes Sat 06-Apr-13 01:26:40

He does seem to have a lot of haterz on here, I'm a bit meh about him, though I do think him and Ruth seem to have a good thing going.
They both seem to josh each other on This Morning, I don't think it's just him and they seem to have a very affectionate relationship.
What do I know though, I don't know them?grin

AgentZigzag Sat 06-Apr-13 01:35:53

How can one person can interpret him as having a bit of lighthearted affectionate banter with his wife/co-presenter, and another takes the same as him being an 'obnoxious, arrogant shit bag'?

K8Middleton Sat 06-Apr-13 01:39:34

My opinion is formed on his sexist and disablist comments. Particularly his defence of the R word.

EllenParsons Sat 06-Apr-13 01:58:16

I can't stand him. Get the same vibes as you. Also he was offensive to a rape victim, basically victim blaming and grilling her about why she was walking home, why didn't she think to take a taxi, very patronising, blamey and just shows a typical example of his attitude to women.

SomethingProfound Sat 06-Apr-13 01:58:47

I used to like him, until he said to a rape victim on this morning or gmtv can't remember which that he hoped she would be getting taxis from now on.

He basically told a very brave woman who was taking a stand that it was her own fault she got raped.

He is a sexist arse!

SomethingProfound Sat 06-Apr-13 01:59:17

X post

Panzee Sat 06-Apr-13 02:38:35

This is why: m.youtube.com/watch?v=F4Lav9YpvzA

Watch him hide behind Sarah Cawood when Fathers4Justice invade the TV studio. grin

HollyBerryBush Sat 06-Apr-13 06:28:31

He used to do a day time quiz show. DH was a contestant. Dh said he was the most arrogant twat he's ever met. Rude, abusively so to the camera crew and floor staff, derisory to the contestants, turned up late, hung over (been to see his beloved ManU the night before) held up filming with petty requests.

Thoroughly obnoxious.

I agree, he's a cunt.

This Morning seems to have rather a right wing agenda so I suppose he fits in well with the ethos.

McPheetStink Sat 06-Apr-13 06:41:36

He comes across as rather self important.

stottiecake Sat 06-Apr-13 06:49:17

I didn't really have an opinion about him until I saw an episode of This Morning where he was interviewing a family who's son was 14 but had 'not grown any taller than a toddler' At the end of the interview he asked the 14 year old to sit on his knee and smile at the camera. I couldn't believe what i was seeing. I wish the lad had told him to Feck off

ParsleyTheLioness Sat 06-Apr-13 07:15:58

Obnoxious, arrogant, sexist....he's also quite pervy. Whenever there is an attractive young woman involved he perves at them...Uncle Nobby stylee. Don't know how he's allowed to carry on frankly...does he know where the bodies are buried or something?

TwllBach Sat 06-Apr-13 07:29:48

I've just watched the clip grin poor Sarah Cawood - her face at the beginning!

Chipstick10 Sat 06-Apr-13 07:57:16

What I like about him is the way he is the way he is respectful to the general public and not so much to the great and good of the celebrity world. Btw had dealings with him in my job many years ago. Unassuming and polite.

sweetiepie1979 Sat 06-Apr-13 09:28:53

Oh god he drives me mad, I wish Ruth would tell him to fuck off sometimes. He really is obnoxious and fat and horrible and pompous. I wish this morning was as good ascot use to be.

Mummyoftheyear Sat 06-Apr-13 10:11:58

Lolling my socks off at your responses!
By the way, what DOES 'yabu' or whatever mean?
Ruth's hair - feel sorry for her. Can't be real. My
M wears a wig for serious medical condition. My mum's is far more realistic. You'd think Ruth would get better style advice. I'd not comment if she was a talented presenter but IMO, she's dull and wall flowery (on screen, at least)! I like to take celebrities for their talent. But Eamonn (double 'n' this time - soz E!) has no obvious talent other than to embarrass his wife and irritate me to the point of switching channels.
Richard was far too vain and haughty (came across as such) but at least had the ability to hold an intelligent conversation. Big E has neither intellect (none apparent) nor a humour I appreciate.
Aren't I a miserable xxx this morning!

JamieandtheMagicTorch Sat 06-Apr-13 10:31:00

I think he is like many men of his generation and older. Apprently harmless, albeit a bit crass, but would be the type,to send you a racist or sexist round-robin "funny" email.

Chipstick10 Sat 06-Apr-13 10:45:40

Does Ruth wear a wig?shock. I don't think she does as when she has her hair dyed you can see the colour fade.

Panzee Sat 06-Apr-13 10:47:27

It could be like Terry Wogan's three wigs to pretend his hair's growing. Just dyed, bedded in and roots need doing. smile

Mummyoftheyear Sat 06-Apr-13 12:37:24

Rindercella Sat 06-Apr-13 12:47:54

I'm with Tethers on this. The man's a cunt.

RedHelenB Sat 06-Apr-13 13:15:50

He was a right tight arse on The Apprentice when they asked him for something for the charity auction - can't stand the man!

countrykitten Sat 06-Apr-13 13:24:49

If you all hate him why do you watch him on the tv?

Growlithe Sat 06-Apr-13 13:29:28

I don't watch him on TV. I can't bear his smug face.

Mummyoftheyear Sat 06-Apr-13 14:27:42

What does 'yabu' mean?
Wish there was a 'like' button on here!
Exactly as someone else commented... I get a really arrogant and horrible vibe when I watch him. So I don't. I literally find him a turn off!
Ruth seems inoffensive, as said, but terribly dull! Yawn... another reason to turn over...

HairyGrotter Sat 06-Apr-13 14:32:01

He's a fat, arrogant, sexist cunt.

His interview with Selma Hayek was just disrespectful. Vile pig needs putting back in his pen.

Viviennemary Sat 06-Apr-13 14:35:05

I did like him once a long time ago. But now I know what you mean. He's become horrible. And Ruth and him together very annoying. I quite liked Richard & Judy.

cocolepew Sat 06-Apr-13 14:36:25

I had a piss in his bush once.

HairyGrotter Sat 06-Apr-13 14:36:57

I'd like to piss in his mug

mrsjay Sat 06-Apr-13 14:37:27

I love him I love how he gets so pissed of with people he makes me laugh he is a bit thick sometimes but there is more irritating people on telly than eamon

Mummyoftheyear Sat 06-Apr-13 14:41:55

Ha ha ha
I just can't bear to watch Ruth as (not only is she dull) but she doesn't put him straight and sort him out. He'd not last a moment in my house!
Wishing there was a 'like' button for your comments, ladies.
Thing is, I'm wondering what kind of research (nepotism) was carried out on order to put him before an audience largely made up of women- who, presumably, feel pretty much as we do about him!,

Mummyoftheyear Sat 06-Apr-13 14:44:25

Cringing at my typos
Too many to correct

Bumbolina Sat 06-Apr-13 14:59:04

Yabu - you are being unreasonable

However - in this particular thread I believe YANBU grin. I find the man vile.

difficultpickle Sat 06-Apr-13 15:06:03

Which programme was it that he got his lawyers to write to to complain? I'm sure it was either the News Quiz on R4 or HIGHNFY. They were instructed to stop making EH is fat jokes. He is an utter arse.

Mummyoftheyear Sat 06-Apr-13 15:14:35

I'm not bothered by his looks. I just cringe to see him make a poor attempt to floss over rather sexist views and a thinly veiled disinterest in most topics introduced on the program - unless they can be used to mock.
Nuff said.

marjproops Sat 06-Apr-13 17:29:53

bisjo it was the John Culshaw impressions show where JC was mimicing him eating the TM sofas and always eating stuff.

I remember that.

marjproops Sat 06-Apr-13 17:32:09

Hes one of those people that just when i think hes being okay he makes a tw***of himself again and I remember why i cant stand him.

im the same with Roger Federer and Serena Williams!

I dont like the way he patronises the sky news 'wifettes' as he calls them. and ALWAYS interrupting the people hes interviewing.

dont ask a question if you're going to answer it yourself with your own 'im always right' opinion!

Mummyoftheyear Sat 06-Apr-13 17:50:43

Arrogance! V irritating all round. I suppose that hosts and journalists are there to present people and items of real interest and talent. However, celebritydom just makes them think that THEY are 'the interest/ person' worth watching.
TV producers ought to make better choices in their hosting staff, no?

difficultpickle Sat 06-Apr-13 18:10:10

Thanks marjproops just shows he has no sense of humour as he is quick to insult others.

Cailinsalach Sat 06-Apr-13 18:10:59

I met him once. I bumped into him and said hello and had a nice chat. He was lovely and polite and charming. Eamon is an ok bloke.

MrsBazinga Sat 06-Apr-13 18:18:22

He simply makes my skin crawl. Just a look/smirk to camera gives me an innate feeling that he's an arrogant, misogynist arsehole. He may well be lovely in real life, but that's not what my instinct tells me. Switch channels immediately if he's on.

WipsGlitter Sat 06-Apr-13 18:34:44

I've met him. He was genuinely nice, really friendly. As was Ruth.

Mutt Sat 06-Apr-13 18:37:23

He's an annoying twat.

As is his wife.

And they waxed lyrical about the virtues of SWMNBN.

Who is also a twat

MrsDeVere Sat 06-Apr-13 18:45:18

I have found him very insensitive when interviewing bereaved parents.
He always talks about closure and asks them if it isnt about time they moved on.
I heard him make that comment about getting a cab to the woman who was raped.

He is like the Boris Johnson of light entertainment.

He manages to get away with saying obnoxious things because he is a 'lovable buffoon'

I hate the way he talks about his partner. He only ever seems to say unpleasant things about her but as a 'joke' hmm

Wishfulmakeupping Sat 06-Apr-13 18:48:09

I cannot bear him...when people were guessing who urika Johnson was talking about in her book I swore blind it was him

KC225 Sat 06-Apr-13 18:50:26

I like him, I think he's funny and suspect he thinks This Morning is a bit of a joke. I like his on screen relationship with Ruth - they are quite snippy and there is a bit of bickering - reminds me of my marriage

I can't stand him, and due to steroid taking I have a swollen head and look like him.

MrsDeVere Sat 06-Apr-13 18:55:01

wishful he was the first person I thought of too blush. I had no reason to think it. Thats pretty bad isn't it.

marjproops Sat 06-Apr-13 19:13:03

thing is hes perfectly nice on songs of praise.

Wishfulmakeupping Sat 06-Apr-13 19:33:25

Yes it is MrsDeVere bet we're not the only ones to just to that conclusion- he's talks down to women in an awful way and he was supposed to have been a nasty piece if work to anthea turner not that I particularly like her either

Frizzbonce Sat 06-Apr-13 19:34:10

Eamon Holmes got very upset at Jon Culshaw's frighteningly accurate impersonation of him being a pompous fat cunt, and he write a Cease and Desist letter to the BBC. Who promptly caved like the spineless cunts they are and cut the sketch.

mr holmes is overweight due to a disability wink v down to earth man

MrsDeVere Sat 06-Apr-13 19:49:37

That is actually one thing I don't get..
that whole 'Eamon is massively fat' thing'. He looks ok to me. He talks a lot about being fat but I don't think he is.

SamuelWestsMistress Sat 06-Apr-13 20:13:55

I want him to tickle my vagina.

SamuelWestsMistress Sat 06-Apr-13 20:15:03

No I don't. I don't know why I said that. Well actually I do, it's fucking snowing again and I'm pissed off so just thought fuck it.

Chipstick10 Sat 06-Apr-13 20:26:12

I can't believe I'm going to say this because its frighteningly mumsnetish, but what has his weight got to do with it?

LeBoob Sat 06-Apr-13 20:30:44

He proper grinds my gears! Horrible patronising man!

Mummyoftheyear Sat 06-Apr-13 21:16:09

I agree with MrsBazinga

Mummyoftheyear Sat 06-Apr-13 21:17:40

My sentiments entirely.
I'm sure he's a pretty normal and nice person (ish). Just too many partner-put-downs and insensitive conversations completely lacking in what would look like genuine sympathy.

Chipstick10 Sat 06-Apr-13 21:22:08

According to the mirror newspaper Ruth is the boss. Apparently he would like nothing more than upping sticks and going round the world but its she who wants the fame. She instigates there little domestics that apparently can be viewed online or something equally naff, I can't quite remember the whole story. According to the mirror she wears the trousers.

Bambalam Sat 06-Apr-13 21:22:22

The wife is much worse angry
Not sure why she brings that emotion out in me. Could be the talentless presenting skils?

Chottie Sat 06-Apr-13 21:35:54

He is mildly disturbing in a creepy way......

TomArchersSausage Sat 06-Apr-13 22:31:30

He always reminds me of Eoin McLove from Father Ted.

Mummyoftheyear Sun 07-Apr-13 06:38:22

Both pretty in engaging (to be polite).

Mummyoftheyear Sun 07-Apr-13 06:39:04

Typo: UNengaging.

Mummyoftheyear Sun 07-Apr-13 06:39:57

Need to change my pseudonym to Fat Fingers!
