This is the impression i get from his new bread baking show on the bbc,DP is watching it and i can't help but give a commentary on how much he seems to love himself, am i right or am i just being mean to the man?!

LadyMaryQuiteContrary Mon 25-Mar-13 20:59:56

You're being mean.

angeltattoo Mon 25-Mar-13 21:01:44

You're right grin

StickEmUp Mon 25-Mar-13 21:05:37

I think he's a bit creepy

FreudiansSlipper Mon 25-Mar-13 21:06:00

I am sure his ego has inflatd but can not see what is attractive about him

FreudiansSlipper Mon 25-Mar-13 21:08:33

He is a bit creepy

Like Alan Titchmarsh another housewives favourite hmm

Lizzylou Mon 25-Mar-13 21:08:35

He has every right to love himself. He is a twinkly eyed sex god with huge hands.
Oh and he can bake.

LadyMaryQuiteContrary Mon 25-Mar-13 21:09:54

I just watch for the bread, I don't care who makes it. grin

Bert2e Mon 25-Mar-13 21:10:02

I'm with you Lizzylou!

GirlWiththeLionHeart Mon 25-Mar-13 21:11:31

I would. blush

Fleecyslippers Mon 25-Mar-13 21:11:41

With those eyes and those fingers he can love himself all he likes grin I am so cool about not celeb worshipping but OMG he just does it for me blush

SkinnybitchWannabe Mon 25-Mar-13 21:11:57

Oh how I wish I was that dough he was kneeding.
He's a total sexy beast and he can make me bread anyday..even though I've given it up!!

Lizzylou Mon 25-Mar-13 21:13:36

I'd be mainlining carby breads made by Mr Hollywood. Tis true.
His hands are huge!

LadyMaryQuiteContrary Mon 25-Mar-13 21:13:47

Nigella's just as bad, if not worse. It's porn food.

Fleecyslippers Mon 25-Mar-13 21:14:16

Am not sure the OP wanted the thread to head this way [wink

Fleecyslippers Mon 25-Mar-13 21:14:33

wink even! Am all flustered!!!

mum47 Mon 25-Mar-13 21:15:58

YANBU. I think he has the eyes of a trained assassin.

Bartlebee Mon 25-Mar-13 21:16:26

My dh is currently drooling over him.

He's too fat for me.

LadyMaryQuiteContrary Mon 25-Mar-13 21:17:19

The BBC need too x rate some of their cookery programmes. grin

josparkle Mon 25-Mar-13 21:19:46

Okay, okay...I was unaware that he was actually viewed as so attractive! I make a quiet exit now, and leave you to Mr Hollywood's baking expertise grin

SarahStratton Mon 25-Mar-13 21:37:42

Hollygod <droooooool>

Fleecyslippers Mon 25-Mar-13 21:44:31

What baking ? wink

Chewbecca Mon 25-Mar-13 21:44:58

YANBU
Yes, he certainly does love himself
YABU
I don't blame him, I do too.

HollyBollyBooBoo Mon 25-Mar-13 21:50:22

He would so get it, but he'd need to lose the rugby tops for anything long term and serious for us to develop (I wish).

LadyMaryQuiteContrary Mon 25-Mar-13 23:25:58

The way he massages the dough though. Goodness! blush

HazeltheMcWitch Mon 25-Mar-13 23:27:37

Quite LadyMary, quite.
The strong hands, and arms. That slightly supercilious air. Cripes.

SarahStratton Mon 25-Mar-13 23:30:44

Those steely eyes.

midori1999 Mon 25-Mar-13 23:31:11

There is something about him, but you're right, he couldn't love himself more.

HazeltheMcWitch Mon 25-Mar-13 23:31:55

He probably reads these threads, and feeds his ego.
But I like the ego.

AstroSnot Mon 25-Mar-13 23:31:57

I so would, He looks absolutely spotless!

LadyMaryQuiteContrary Mon 25-Mar-13 23:32:25

Eyes? He has eyes? I can't see past the hands.

HazeltheMcWitch Mon 25-Mar-13 23:32:26

Doesn't he Astro? Very very clean.

SarahStratton Mon 25-Mar-13 23:54:06

Lord, I'd stroke that ego for him.

He is very very clean, yes, and smells of nice aftershave. He never sweats. I imagine.... grin

He loves himself, mind, you can tell by the level of personal grooming.

His ego's as big as his gut so YANBU op.

Doesn't do it for me so you can all have him wink

Cremolafoam Tue 26-Mar-13 00:05:52

You know he <whispers> smokes

LadyMaryQuiteContrary Tue 26-Mar-13 00:08:06

sad Oh, that's terrible cremola.

SarahStratton Tue 26-Mar-13 00:09:13

I can live with him smoking. It's his lovely big hands ego I'm after.

So those big fat fingers will stink of ciggies then. And the bread, will no one think of the bread!!

grin

LadyMaryQuiteContrary Tue 26-Mar-13 00:16:35

No, smoking's a huge deal breaker for me. Shame. sad

MyFace Tue 26-Mar-13 00:24:03

It's the eyes for me, there's something about the eyes...

SarahStratton Tue 26-Mar-13 00:25:53

Good, good. That's a few less in competition.

CatPussInACrownOfThorns Tue 26-Mar-13 01:03:36

He can't love himself more than I love him! I am the biggest sucker for twinkly blue eyes! He can be as up himself as he likes as long as he kneads my buns with those big strong hands! grin

CandyCrushed Tue 26-Mar-13 01:07:46

He smokes! shock sad

I bet Richard Osman doesn't smoke.

Osman doesn't need to smoke his head's so close to the chimneys grin

mum47 Tue 26-Mar-13 09:13:16

Oh now I'd take Richard over PH anyday. He is a living legend!

GetOeuf Tue 26-Mar-13 09:22:31

I wouldn't mind sharing a post coital fag with him after chewing on his baguette.

He does rate himself I think. I don't care though. Those eyes

PickledInAPearTree Tue 26-Mar-13 10:13:43

I felt a bit dirty watching him kneading yesterday.

I think he is the type of man that would have sex with an apple pie.

Iatemyskinnyperson Tue 26-Mar-13 10:22:08

He's had they goatee for decades though. That bothers me for some reason.

I do like to watch him knead though. wink

Lizzylou Tue 26-Mar-13 10:56:33

Ha ha

Baby I can prove it all night
grin

I bet wink

MrsLouisTheroux Tue 26-Mar-13 16:21:18

Mmm grin

MrsLouisTheroux Tue 26-Mar-13 16:25:52

lizzy:" OK. So we're ready. We'll start with something gentle. The bloomer. Take 500 grammes of strong – and I mean strong – white flour. Add 10 grammes of salt, 40ml of olive oil, 240ml water and then thrust your hands deeply into the mix. Manipulate till firm (you, not me) and the dough begins to ooze between my strong, manly fingers. Nice. Then leave to prove – baby, I can prove it all night – before taking a sharp knife and slashing some cuts into the top. Put in the oven for a bit and you have a loaf fit for Greggs." Ha Ha!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine Tue 26-Mar-13 16:34:10

Nothing oozes pheromones quite like a contintental loaf. I know it's hard not to associate a ciabatta with the spindly fingers of a metrosexual Italian. But, take it from me, in the right hands – mine – it is a bread that can be both powerfully manly and erotic. Just stretch out the dough to a magnificent 12 inches and then lie back on your banneton and close your eyes as I whisper "fougasse" into your ear. Play your cards right and I might even add a raspberry before I focaccia. Mmm.

smile

Lizzylou Tue 26-Mar-13 16:35:30

I might even add a raspberry before I focaccia. Mmm.

Oh my. wink

Lizzylou Tue 26-Mar-13 16:36:39

He does have strong manly fingers, doesn't he MrsLT?

Such big hands.
And piercing blue eyes.

CambridgeBlue Tue 26-Mar-13 16:39:56

It's those twinkly eyes that get me...

In interviews he claims to find all the attention a bit embarrassing and he mentions his wife and (I think) son at every opportunity so maybe he's actually a nice guy. I drooled over met him at a cake show last year and he was lovely to us.

MrsLouisTheroux Tue 26-Mar-13 21:20:15

Lizzy strong manly fingers, hands and arms.
My equally desirable fantasy DH, Mr. LT is the complete opposite but that doesn't stop me fantasising over PH and his bread making prowess.
Just a thought, you know some people look like their pet? Horsey people tend to look a bit horsey and all that? Don't you think PH has a (very appealing) dough like quality to him? He's lovely smile

Kazooblue Tue 26-Mar-13 21:21:54

He gets on my wick.Wanted to shove his and Mary Berry's faces right into their mixing bowls.

MrsLouisTheroux Tue 26-Mar-13 21:35:37

Kaz Now that's a bit harsh! Poor Paul sad Poor Mary. sad

Scholes34 Tue 26-Mar-13 21:57:48

He has all round appeal. DS (12) was happily watching the England match until I mentioned Hollywood and Bezza were on the other side. He was then faced with a dilemma of what to watch.

SarahStratton Tue 26-Mar-13 23:49:26

I wouldn't mind sharing a post coital fag with him after chewing on his baguette.

This.

GreenEggsAndNichts Tue 26-Mar-13 23:49:35

I love him. sad I never notice celebrities. I love him for being slightly grumpy, and his kneading techniques.

I was sad to read he's filmed something for the US version of Bakeoff. With the ego he seems to have, I suspect he'll be off there like a shot if they even suggest it. sigh.

To be fair, I only noticed him because I like baking bread and he's always on these shows. He's grown on me. If I'd just seen him on something, I wouldn't have fancied him, so I can see where the naysayers are coming from. smile

That t-shirt he wore the other night was horrible. truly. Almost enough to put me off him. The grandpa pleather coat with too many pockets also has to go. Are you taking notes, Mr Hollywood? Stick to the button-down shirts.

SarahStratton Tue 26-Mar-13 23:55:24

I want to see him in a suit. I bet looks hawt in a suit.

HazeltheMcWitch Tue 26-Mar-13 23:56:39

He gets on my wick

I'd get on his blush

VicarInaTutu Tue 26-Mar-13 23:58:01

i know a thing or two about this fella......dh is in same business. you would be shocked. shocked i tell ya.

of course i cant tell ya.....wish i could he is a cunt sorry to disillusion you ladies.....

HazeltheMcWitch Tue 26-Mar-13 23:58:16
HazeltheMcWitch Tue 26-Mar-13 23:58:51

*VICAR*

Tell us more.

And your dh is a baker? I am well-jel.

GreenEggsAndNichts Wed 27-Mar-13 00:00:42

Vicar he reminds me of an ex of mine. He was also a cunt. I've long suspected they might have similar personalities.

I am, of course, dying to know details.

I have to sleep, though. sad

VicarInaTutu Wed 27-Mar-13 00:02:19

i fear i cannot....--unless you pm me for fear of libel-- but yes - dh is a baker - a very very good baker of, mmm, lets see......of 30 years. he makes the best artisan speciality breads of anyone i have ever known.

but i have a tale or 3 to tell of the famous mr hollywood....which i cant tell obvs!

VicarInaTutu Wed 27-Mar-13 00:02:48

strike out fail

VicarInaTutu Wed 27-Mar-13 00:03:09

now why did that work and my other didnt?? angry

VicarInaTutu Wed 27-Mar-13 00:04:50

oh and watching my dh do hand moulding is an erotic experience.......blush

we met in a bakery. nuff said.

GreenEggsAndNichts Wed 27-Mar-13 00:05:05

I totally understand. I just had to say I'm going to bed because I didn't want someone convincing you to share, then waking up tomorrow to find that it's been deleted.

I will certainly not be pestering you via PM for gossip as soon as I'm awake again

smile

CatPussInACrownOfThorns Wed 27-Mar-13 00:05:13

Vicar, you didnt leave a space between the dots and your strikeout.

SarahStratton Wed 27-Mar-13 00:15:16

Ahem <coffs to clear throat>

Someone may possibly have a PM blush

grin I beat you to it! blush

VicarInaTutu Wed 27-Mar-13 00:18:19

i wish it was more exciting.....alas. still. shocked me.

SarahStratton Wed 27-Mar-13 00:27:38

Ooh squeak, the red dot.

grin

Is it really dreadful of me to secretly hope he's been a leetle naughty? <hangs head in shame>

SarahStratton Wed 27-Mar-13 00:33:40

<little face of Po>

I am unimpressed.

<bit more Po>

MrsLouisTheroux Wed 27-Mar-13 07:34:44

Hmm. I bet he's ruthless.

I have learnt a) not to put yeast and salt next to each other in bowl for fear of killing the yeast and b) to get my hands like a mixer and get stuck in c) to stretch and fold, stretch and fold to get that gluton going.

Come to think of it, he tells me this each time he is on TV.

Maybe he's a one trick pony.

I think I'll stick with Mr. Theroux after all grin!

<fickle>

NoelHeadbands Wed 27-Mar-13 07:40:48

YANBU but I like his recipes.

I don't like his doughy, carby face.

INeedThatForkOff Mon 01-Apr-13 20:50:30

Had to revive this one. Hollywood just stretched some dough and said it looked like his Y fronts would in twenty years.

DH: 'Not far off now pal. Looks like he's made of bread.'

Not feeling the love, I fear.

GreenEggsAndNichts Mon 01-Apr-13 21:11:57

INeed I love me some Paul but your DH's comment made me laugh. grin I'm watching it now; I had to record it as no way was I going to be able to get the dragon film off the TV before it was over...

SarahStratton Mon 01-Apr-13 21:32:38

He looked very short standing next to the German pretzel chappy. What with Vicar's shocking revelations, I have Gorn Orf him.

Hey ho, back to Christopher Ecclestone Lust.

GreenEggsAndNichts Mon 01-Apr-13 21:51:43

Yes I was saddened by his shortness. And his shirt was just a little too unbuttoned. I was waiting for a glimpse of gold chain.

Am I being more critical in light of the Vicar revelations? I don't know.

I still liked him with Mary on the Easter baking show, though. Maybe I like him more with Mary as he has someone to rein him in every once in a while. smile

SarahStratton Mon 01-Apr-13 22:16:09

I think we might be being more critical. I found his accent grated rather tonight.

magimedi Mon 01-Apr-13 23:52:02

Every time I see Paul I thin kof the wonderful term I first learnt on MN:

Wank Badger.

Just look at his hair, for a start!

missingmumxox Tue 02-Apr-13 01:32:03

I was a neighbour of his, he is not a good neighbour to me, hurling abuse at a lady and premie twins with your mates when she is trying to get to SCBU for an appointment not good! nor is blocking the drive for a photo shoot which is why they started hurling abuse as I needed to leave.

on a good note he did give my work mates some cake and tea over christmas when he saw them working in the street.
also he has given a lot of his time and money to the local community in various fund raising events so I might have had a bad moment with him, maybe he was pre-menstrual or something that day?
on the whole I might forgive him (one day) and his friends and the other celeb chef who was as vocal as him that day but he is not a horrible person just a bit smug! also his bread..try it if you can afford it, my mate won some it is really nice.
