Especially Belle. Beautiful.

I know most people are Disney haters on here, but still smile

PelvicFloorClenchReminder Sat 16-Mar-13 23:24:27

I'd rather wish that Disney made a princess that looked like me.

MrsRajeshKoothrappali Sat 16-Mar-13 23:25:36

Belle was pretty but the rest of them looked like fish.

ThreeWheelsGood Sat 16-Mar-13 23:25:43

Wishfulmakeupping Sat 16-Mar-13 23:26:03

Yes I'd be Belle or snow white

AgentZigzag Sat 16-Mar-13 23:26:59

I'm sure you look 100% better than those not real/unrealistic portrayals of fictional characters smile

<Disney haterz Inc>

WorraLiberty Sat 16-Mar-13 23:28:30

I have no idea who they're all supposed to be?

<< Mother of 3 boys who was a tomboy herself as a child >>

I wish the world didn't judge women on how they look, rather on who they are. I wish Disney wasn't the measure of what my daughter will think she's worth over my dead body.

<Links arms with Agent>

AgentZigzag Sat 16-Mar-13 23:30:16

What's the equivalent for lads Worra?

BOF Sat 16-Mar-13 23:34:00
AgentZigzag Sat 16-Mar-13 23:34:47

The only legitimate reason for the Disney syrup to exist is if it gives a measure of escapism to children in a difficult situation.

Otherwise it just reminds me of times where children are expected to trust people just because they're in a certain role, like clowns or ice cream vans <shudder>

PuddingsAndPies Sat 16-Mar-13 23:38:55

Well Cinderella seems to be Jennifer Garner...

WorraLiberty Sat 16-Mar-13 23:40:42

I have no idea what the equivalent is Agent

I wasn't interested as a child and I'm not interested now.

I think the first one might be Snow White and the one with the seashell bikini top, I assume is the Little Mermaid.

But other than that, I'm stumped confused

Cakethrow Sat 16-Mar-13 23:42:04

Tiddlyompompom - that's a great link!

BOF Sat 16-Mar-13 23:43:37

Ah, I cross posted grin

ArielRedHead Sat 16-Mar-13 23:56:18

Sorry forgot to convert the link.

From left to right -

Snow White
Aurora (Sleeping Beauty)
Ariel (Little Mermaid)
Belle (Beauty and the Beast)
Jasmine (Aladdin)
Esmeralda (Hunchback of Notre Dame)
Meg (Hercules)
Tiana (Princess and the Frog)
Rapunzel (Tangled)

YouTheCat Sun 17-Mar-13 00:01:29

I've never wanted to be a Disney princess.

I do remember very much wanting to be Superman from about 1977 until far far into the future, however.

BreconBeBuggered Sun 17-Mar-13 00:02:18

Well according to that I used to look like Sleeping Beauty. She turns into a frumpy washerwoman type, in case you were wondering. <silent sob>

DeepRedBetty Sun 17-Mar-13 00:06:52

Then you would like like this young woman here Scroll down and click on Sophie E... further down. Cant make up my mind whether she looks like a disney princess or a barbie doll. But real life, it is not a good look!

YouTheCat Sun 17-Mar-13 00:09:32

She looks like a twat.

AgentZigzag Sun 17-Mar-13 00:10:52

I can't see Sophie E on the link PureQ, but WTF is that arse implant all about?? shock

AgentZigzag Sun 17-Mar-13 00:13:40

Oh, Sophie E is the first picture blush

I'd pay money to see her struggle up the high street with bags of groceries in those heels grin

The text with the link says:

Gjennom hverdagsbloggen Sophie Elise, deler hun alt fra frustrasjon og framtidsplaner til festantrekk og feriebilder.

You click on the name. (I dont want the stats to show people clicking in from MN.... so I wont link directly)

It is the first piece of text in the article.

She makes £100k a year from her blog, mainly through advertising and product endorsements, she is 18, and looks like a doll. She is a natural blonde.

Dont know why she annoys me so much. hmm Maybe because she looks like a cross between a disney princess and a barbie doll. And makes a fortune for rambling on about her life.

YouTheCat Sun 17-Mar-13 00:16:35

I never believe everything I read.

Good for you!

YouTheCat Sun 17-Mar-13 00:19:14

BUT, op wanted to look like a disney princess. I am showing her that what looks good like an animation or a cartoon, wont look as good real life!

YouTheCat Sun 17-Mar-13 00:20:30

Can any of them do anything useful? You know, other than looking aesthetically pleasing.

Probably not! And they wont be good at carrying shopping bags! And possibly not mopping poo and goo and puke and spilt porridge! grin

ArielRedHead Sun 17-Mar-13 00:22:02

Don't worry PureQuintessence I'm not printing out the photos ready to show a plastic surgeon in the morning.

I came across the drawing which in my opinion are good and thought that they looked beautiful and looked more real than in the films.

It was a passing comment.

ArielRedHead Sun 17-Mar-13 00:22:55

Mulan saved China. So I guess that's something.

YouTheCat Sun 17-Mar-13 00:23:24

I suppose Cinderella could do the dishes. A fairy godmother might come in useful too - for the lottery numbers and such like.

Nah, still want to be Superman - the Christopher Reeve one. grin

AgentZigzag Sun 17-Mar-13 00:26:52

Hahahaha at making a passing comment in AIBU grin

Good one OP grin

ArielRedHead Sun 17-Mar-13 00:28:01

You're right Agent no such thing exists grin - silly me.

YouTheCat Sun 17-Mar-13 00:29:28

Aw but this is a giggle though. OP, I hope you don't think I'm taking the piss or anything.

I have always wanted to be Superman though. grin

sneezingwakesthebaby Sun 17-Mar-13 00:33:58

I always wanted to be Ariel (the mermaid not the wash powder). I still do :')

ArielRedHead Sun 17-Mar-13 00:35:26

See I don't get the Superman thing ... if you'd said Batman then I'd have understood. Or even Spiderman.

All Superman does is fly around showing off his underwear.

ArielRedHead Sun 17-Mar-13 00:43:11

I do think there is a good side to Disney princesses though.

Mulan risked her life to save her father. She could have died in the war or if she'd been found out to be a woman she would have been killed than too.

Belle gave up her freedom so her father could be set free. She fell in love with a beast (not a handsome prince), she was very much into books and wanted more than just being a wife - when she turned down Gaston's proposal.

Jasmine refused to get married because she didn't love the men her father tried to get her to marry, she only accepted when she knew she loved the man.

Pocahontas was willing to sacrafice her life to save John Smith, and she was the one who stopped both sides fighting.

- I know most people can turn all those points I said into a negative but ... sometimes you can just take the good in things and realise that it's just escapism.

Signet2012 Sun 17-Mar-13 00:44:49

Is shrek a Disney film?

If so I do look like a Disney princess envy

AgentZigzag Sun 17-Mar-13 00:51:12

I was surprised to see the film John Carter is a Disney, it was quite good.

YouTheCat Sun 17-Mar-13 00:54:20

Pshaw! Superman has super strength, x-ray vision, super hearing and he can fly. And he looks damn fine in tights. grin

YouTheCat Sun 17-Mar-13 00:56:05

Actually, Pirates of the Caribbean is Disney.

I could pass for Keith Richards, in a bad light.

Mimishimi Sun 17-Mar-13 04:45:11

YANBU. I recognise a bit of myself in one Disney Princess .... Princess Fiona..blush

Astelia Sun 17-Mar-13 05:10:57

Did anyone see the recent Big Bang Theory episode where Penny, Amy and Bernadette go to Disney for the day and each get a makeover to look like a princess?

YesIamYourSisterInLaw Sun 17-Mar-13 07:09:17

A few of them look famous to me puddings
I think jasmine looks like that main one from the pussy cat dolls ( dont know her name sorry )
I also recognise Milan, tangled and Snow White but it's bugging me that I can't think who they are.

YesIamYourSisterInLaw Sun 17-Mar-13 07:09:28

MrsWolowitz Sun 17-Mar-13 07:48:31

I love Disney.

Not the older ones where princesses are vulnerable and in need if saving and rescuing but the more recent ones are good.

All of what Ariel said in her post above and Rapunzel saved the guy in the end.

Also there's a new disney series called Sophia the first. It looks really glittery and girly and blah bit the last episode was all about the princess being told she couldn't ride the Pegasus things because that's a prince thing and not for princesses. Anyway, she changed everyone's mind and fought for her right to ride them.

It's take disney over Barbie crap any day.

RubyGates Sun 17-Mar-13 08:08:31

The only Princess I've ever wanted to be:

(And only because she turned Henry VIII down by saying ""If I had two heads, one should be at the King of England's disposal.")

RubyGates Sun 17-Mar-13 08:08:45
JudithOfThePeace Sun 17-Mar-13 08:13:20

That video a couple of people posted upthread is fecking brilliant! A very talented young man.

Buzzardbird Sun 17-Mar-13 08:14:08

My dd really does look like Belle! shock

RapunzelAteMyHamster Sun 17-Mar-13 08:15:48

Tangled is Amanda Siegfried isn't it? Meg is Brooke Shields. They're nice drawings but I think they've had a lot of "inspiration" from photographs, they're not original creations.

DD is deep in a Disney Princess phase at the moment, and we can generally find quite a bit of good in each story. Better than Mike the Knight, which was her previous thing, I hated that obnoxious little creep.

agnesf Sun 17-Mar-13 08:17:49

Based on the length of the queue at Disneyland for the meet the Disney Princesses, you could set yourself up a profitable business based entirely on your appearence.

You could do kids parties/ look-a-like appearences/ maybe even build a small grotto in your garden with help of nice bell tent + gold throne and do a few hours a day after school. How about "Sleeping Beauty babysitting service".

redwellybluewelly Sun 17-Mar-13 08:18:09

I want to look like the princess in Brave

Incredible hair. Lovely dress. And attitude.

stargirl1701 Sun 17-Mar-13 08:19:06

I'd rather be Buffy or Wonder Woman or Xena.

sooperdooper Sun 17-Mar-13 08:23:55

When I was little I wanted to be SheRah, I never ever wanted to be a Disney princess, never had any interest in Disney at all tbh I find it all a bit twee and dull now, I hope if I have a girl she doesn't like Disney I'd find it pretty irrutating

Branleuse Sun 17-Mar-13 08:30:36

dumbo, the aristocats and jungle book are the only disney i ever liked. The ones about princesses and princes are shit

I also always wanted to be superman!

Wearing a cape, and my underpants on top of my trousers, how cool is that?!

TomDudgeon Sun 17-Mar-13 09:29:31

They're all just paintings of real
And Pocahontas converted to Christianity and chose to stay in England

MoleyMick Sun 17-Mar-13 10:00:54

I used to watch Garfield and Raggy Dolls and wanted to be like Matilda from the book.
Never had time for Disney princesses and I hope my daughter isn't a fan - although as a poster mentioned, I would rather them than Barbie.

FeckOffCup Sun 17-Mar-13 11:16:54

YANBU, I wish the disney princess brand had been around when I was a little girl I would have loved all the dressing up and pink glitter. I have a 2 year old DD now and she is starting to get into princesses and the like, we have a birthday party later and she is insisting she is wearing her tinkerbell costume even though its not actually fancy dress.

I wanted to be Indiana Jones, not a princess!

YouTheCat Sun 17-Mar-13 11:29:00

Fantastic! I have found someone to play Superman in the playground with, PureQuintessence. And it's only taken 43 a few years. grin

mrsjay Sun 17-Mar-13 11:33:00

could you waft round the supermarket in that dress though or would the woodland creatures hold it up grin

sneezingwakesthebaby Sun 17-Mar-13 12:08:09

And get slammed by Disneys lawyers agnes grin

Flobbadobs Sun 17-Mar-13 12:27:25

I want Merida's hair but I grew up wanting to be a superhero like the ones in Marvel comics grin

Tubegirl Sun 17-Mar-13 13:33:59

I'm with Stargirl. <blushes - just remembered that I actually took up kickboxing to try to be like buffy- I'm rubbish at it - the british politeness reflex kicked in and I kept saying sorry every time I attempted to hit my sparring partner>

AmberSocks Sun 17-Mar-13 13:37:51

I wanted to be she ra too!

stargirl1701 Sun 17-Mar-13 13:45:07

Love that Tubegirl grin

Body Combat was as far as I got smile

whimsicalmess Sun 17-Mar-13 13:47:20

Kim Kardashian is like the personification of Jasmines,

I would give organs to look like her never mind limbs.

FWY, apparently in places like Disneyworld they have quite high standards as top who is a princess etc must have straight nose, big lips etc.

lovetomoan Sun 17-Mar-13 14:14:26

I also wanted to be Xena but I was born in the 'wrong' ethnicity grin

I've been told I look more like Pocahontas, the one from the Night in the Museum movie.

YouTheCat grin Gosh can you imagine us two "old" numpties running around in our superman costumes in the park, we would be arrested! shock

Tubegirl Sun 17-Mar-13 17:46:57

Pure and YouTheCat, Good job superman doesn't wear a mask or you might be mistaken for FFJ!

Tiddly: That is so clever!

When you see the bigger versions of those pictures (which I'd link but I can't find them), you can tell that apart from Pocahontus, they're all based on actresses. Damned if I know which ones, but I recognise most of them!

BatmanLovesVodkaAndCherryade Sun 17-Mar-13 18:42:26

The top middle one is Taylor Swift, I think.

YouTheCat Sun 17-Mar-13 18:47:38

*wanders off to find an old sheet and some red underpants grin

Crawling Sun 17-Mar-13 18:59:19

Well I love disney it has a excellent policy for special needs and is one of the few places I feel comfortable taking my severly autistic dd.

whimsicalmess Sun 17-Mar-13 20:01:39

I totally agree Crawling they were great with my DSIS about 10 years ago.

sneezingwakesthebaby Sun 17-Mar-13 23:49:27

I thought the bottom right one was Dakota fanning. Its bugging me now I want to know who they all are!

sneezingwakesthebaby Mon 18-Mar-13 00:00:50

Bigger ones here

I think on some of them the whole face is sampled (like Dakota on rapunzel) but on others just parts of celebrities. They are soooo good though.

sneezingwakesthebaby Mon 18-Mar-13 00:04:24

Promise ill shut up now but I found his site and he does use real people as the basis so now we can definitely play spot the celebrity hahaha!
