This is complicated so bear with me. I have a friend in another country. She has a daughter by a man who she has nothing to do with. I pushed a little, because I wanted to know why she would deny her daughter any relationship with her father. I knew she had got pregnant by him once before and had miscarried, as this happened just before a trip we took together. She told me the full story.

So, she found out she was pregnant, and the pregnancy was confirmed by her gynaecologist (in the US). He took her blood, etc, and told her she was about 10 weeks pregnant. Their relationship was very on off, when he found out she was pregnant, he came to see her and they went to bed. During sex, he claimed he needed to go to the bathroom. He returned, continued and finished. Hours later she started cramping painfully. She saw her doctor the next day and he said, I can't explain this, but your progesterone levels are zero. ZERO.

She thought no more about it. Got over miscarriage. Months later she complained to her bf that her period wouldn't arrive, felt bloated etc. She knew she wasn't pg but it seems he thought she was. Later, they were having sex and he did this same strange thing again (he had not done it since the last time) - he went to the bathroom. She looked in the crack in the door after him and he was getting something out of his sponge bag. As before, he came back in, and came inside her.

His sister is a nurse. Is there any way, in this country, that people could get hold of mifepristone and is it technically possible to induce a medical abortion in this way? COuld he have done this?

I have had a medical abortion (RU486) and the cramping she described rang very true. When I had it they put the pill on the end of a tampon which I had to insert.

Could he possibly have done this?

My blood ran cold when she told me.

my god. that's horrific.

i hope she's not still with this fuckwit.

quoteunquote Fri 22-Feb-13 20:51:17

Has she worked it out yet?

someoftheabove Fri 22-Feb-13 20:52:31

Sorry, what was he meant to be doing with the pill? Balancing it on the end of his d**k? Just can't really visualise it.

delmonton Fri 22-Feb-13 20:55:11

She is not still with him and does all she can to avoid any contact. He has never seen her daughter.

Some, I think she thinks he put it on the end of his willy.

tucking the pill into his foreskin?

trubbliphone Fri 22-Feb-13 20:56:33

Yes, she doesn't see him at all. She told me he is circumcised, this is what confuses me.

someoftheabove Fri 22-Feb-13 20:56:54

Wouldn't it fall out when he got an erection?

BookWormery Fri 22-Feb-13 20:57:16

Oh my god.

There was an episode of Law and Order SVU where some guy was putting something on a condom that had been known to cause a miscarriage.

What???

maybe he pushed it up the urethra a little bit <ouch>

Can you get it as a cream? In his "eye"? Crushed and mixed with a bit of cream and "applied"?

It sounds weird, but not impossible.

zumbaholic Fri 22-Feb-13 20:59:18

eugh! That is twisted

trubbliphone Fri 22-Feb-13 21:01:50

He definitely didn't wear a condom. It just sounds so bizarre. How tightly are these drugs controlled? That is what is really worrying me.

Booyhoo Fri 22-Feb-13 21:01:57

that is really scary. could he have crushed the pill and put it on the end of his penis? if there was enough moisture/semen it would stick till he came inside her wouldn't it?

scary.

ShipwreckedAndComatose Fri 22-Feb-13 21:03:11

This sound like utter bollocks to me

ginmakesitallok Fri 22-Feb-13 21:03:34

If she thought he was up to something why did she finish having sex with him?

LineRunner Fri 22-Feb-13 21:04:53

It sounds very urban myth.

HollyBerryBush Fri 22-Feb-13 21:07:37

If the pill is small enough he might have put it just inside his eye. Or indeed popped inside her when he 'guided' himself in?

FWIW, most American men are circumcised.

All sounds very far fetched to me though, 1 in 4 pregnancies end early. If we didnt have POAS, 99% would think they had a late period.

CloudsAndTrees Fri 22-Feb-13 21:08:05

Does he travel to countries where drugs are likely to be less controlled than they are here or in the US?

I've bought stuff on holiday that is prescription only here.

TheDetective Fri 22-Feb-13 21:08:29

Mifepristone is a controlled drug.

I very much doubt this could be true. Although I suppose if you have the money you could get any drug out there.

Doubt it is from his sister though.

ShipwreckedAndComatose Fri 22-Feb-13 21:09:02

People!! The pill needs to get into the blood stream so that the progesterone and oestrogen can act upon the ovaries and uterus!!

As I said earlier... Bollocks!!

shock

JollyGolightly Fri 22-Feb-13 21:13:29

It takes a while for progesterone levels to drop to zero, more than one day after the start of a mc.

I declare this story to be bollocks.

AnyoneforTurps Fri 22-Feb-13 21:14:03

This is total bollocks balderdash. If anything, Mifepristone will increase progesterone levels in the 1st few hours because it stops progesterone getting taken up by receptors (so there is more sloshing around in the blood). Progesterone levels will eventually fall after a miscarriage but never to zero, just to pre-pregnancy levels.

trubbliphone Fri 22-Feb-13 21:14:35

Shipwrecked do you know about this medically? I just know, sadly from my own experience, that it is administered approximately in this way.

His sister is a nurse, but not in any senior position. Just an ordinary nurse. Surely these drugs would be rigorously controlled?

This sounds a right load of old cock. Mind you, it's not impossible that the bloke could have had the intention to do something like that, just not very plausible that it would have worked.

ginmakesitallok Fri 22-Feb-13 21:14:59

Woo Hoo, first time I've ever had a post deleted!! I have arrived!

trubbliphone Fri 22-Feb-13 21:15:10

Anyone thanks. I need info.

OHforDUCKScake Fri 22-Feb-13 21:20:20

Im with Jolly. My first thought was, no way does it drop to zero just like that.

I do agree to the decleration of Bullshit.

So she is denying her daughter her father because she believes that he made her miscarry.

Tbh is he was so determined to induce a miscarriage there are drugs he could have spiked her drink with that would require a hell of a lot less effort to get hold of and wouldn't have the uncertainty and sneaking around that you believe.

I also think that it sounds like she miscarried before but just showed no symptoms, ime progesterone levels take a while to drop back down to normal (not zero) not a matter of a few hours.

redplasticspoon Fri 22-Feb-13 21:22:22

I have reported this post.

Having a degree in a relevant field, I can confirm this is BS.

StuffezLaBouche Fri 22-Feb-13 21:22:27

This thread has upset me a bit but i know im being a bit over sensitive.
Fwiw ive had a medical abortion and there were FIVE pessaries i had to insert. Not sure where on his penis he might be hiding all those.
:-(

OHforDUCKScake Fri 22-Feb-13 21:22:48

If what any says is right, and your friend told you her doctor said it was zero, the your friend is making up huge massive great porky pies to you.

StuffezLaBouche Fri 22-Feb-13 21:23:07

Im glad, redplasticspoon

ShipwreckedAndComatose Fri 22-Feb-13 21:23:19

I have too.

Generally reportable threads make me laugh but I actually find this one offensive

usualsuspect Fri 22-Feb-13 21:24:31

Clearly bollocks.

AmandinePoulain Fri 22-Feb-13 21:26:06

Someone is lying here.

I had medical treatment following a mmc - I had to take oral medication, then wait 48 hours, then insert 2 pessaries, then I needed a further 2 doses. It really isn't that 'easy' hmm

trubbliphone Fri 22-Feb-13 21:26:07

Red plastic spoon, sorry should I have put a warning on this thread? I need to know if it's bullshit. I have had a medical abortion, and for me, in my case, there was only one vaginal pessary.

I don't really care if people think this is bullshit. I only want to know if this is remotely possible. Really, I am massively relieved if it is.

I'm not saying, THIS IS TRUE. It is a reported story, and although I would like to think my friend is sane and would not lie, she is clearly going through a difficult time.

WorraLiberty England Fri 22-Feb-13 21:40:46

This reads like a weird urban myth

No doubt it'll be spreading through Facebook like wildfire in a couple of weeks.

I only had one vg pessery but also an oral one. Unless his Sis is a nurse prescriber I doubt he would have gotten anything off her. Even if she is it's a big risk to take giving your bro a controlled drug. Also levels don't drop that fast.

MN is weird tonight.

JollyGolightly Fri 22-Feb-13 22:33:55

I don't believe the OP is a troll, but I do think the story is a sack of shite.

aquashiv Fri 22-Feb-13 22:39:21

Complete bollocks

nickelbabe Fri 22-Feb-13 22:42:39

I understand - you're not saying it happened, you're saying your friend told you it did and you want to know if it could be true.

i'd say it isn't, but I don'g know if your friend is bulling or if she believes it to be plausible
