Someone pass me the tissues

<blows nose noisily>

It's a cartoon ffs! !

cathpip Sat 16-Feb-13 20:33:05

I cry at Toy Story 3, cant help myself!

saycheeeeeese Sat 16-Feb-13 20:35:23

Honestly, it gets me every time, so does Pocahantas!!

MikeLitoris Sat 16-Feb-13 20:36:46

I start crying by the end of 'you got a friend in me' and stop crying about half an hour after it finishes. I sobbed the first time i watched it.

Im filling up thinking of it now.

Snap. It just finished here and I was bawling.

Tigresswoods Sat 16-Feb-13 20:38:24

"Why you cry mummy?"
"Because he loves his toys so much DS but he's a big boy now" blub

saycheeeeeese Sat 16-Feb-13 20:39:04

It's the end when he gives all the toys to the new little girl!

I never properly said goodbye to my toys

<wails inconsolably>

mrsjay Sat 16-Feb-13 20:40:22

((hug)) I dont care if it is unmumsnetty it is sad and i blub like a baby, My dd is the same age as Andy when we saw it she had just left school and was going to uni i sat and sobbed and snotted for most of it blush

saycheeeeeese Sat 16-Feb-13 20:48:33

Aw mrsjay have a hug back ((hug))

Time goes by much too fast my DD is stillso little but I know I'll blink and she will be leaving me sad

SneezySnatcher Sat 16-Feb-13 20:50:15

The bit that gets me is when the toys are heading towards the incinerator and they hold each others' hands sad.

saycheeeeeese Sat 16-Feb-13 20:52:55

I know Sneezy, the tears were rolling down my face at that point.

DH told me to wise up but I detected a hint of a glisten in his own eyes!

butterflyroom Sat 16-Feb-13 20:53:43

Yes Sneezy, me too.

catinboots Sat 16-Feb-13 20:54:31

That's why it got accidentally scratched

CremeEggThief Sat 16-Feb-13 20:55:48

It brings tears to my eyes, but "Up!" always makes me actually cry.

OverAndAbove Sat 16-Feb-13 20:56:54

Oh god yes! The stoicism of them all, in the face of the incinerator. It's tears all round.

I can't even look at my child's old toys. I want to box them up in the attic but give them a credit card to pay for their partying in perpetuity. Lord knows, they have suffered enough : nod:

saycheeeeeese Sat 16-Feb-13 20:56:57

Up! sad

I had to stop watching it it turns me in to a blubbing mess.

mrsjay Sat 16-Feb-13 20:58:34

The bit that gets me is when the toys are heading towards the incinerator and they hold each others' hands

I know right <sniff> thank you saycheeese it does go very fast

iwantanafternoonnap Sat 16-Feb-13 20:58:41

I did the first time but it's been on that many times in my house I am immune. I still pee my pants laughing at Ken and Barbie though grin

saycheeeeeese Sat 16-Feb-13 20:59:12

I had two favourite toys that I used to sleep with until I was 24 and DH made me put them in the attic.
Toy story 3 always makes me pine for them, they are extremely ugly but I really did love them with all my little girl heart!

saycheeeeeese Sat 16-Feb-13 21:00:10

Ken and barbie are bloody brilliant as is Spanish Buzz grin

mrsjay Sat 16-Feb-13 21:01:19

I love camp ken he is FABULOUS grin

mrsjay Sat 16-Feb-13 21:01:52

BIG baby makes me cry I swear i wanted to hug her blush

CremeEggThief Sat 16-Feb-13 21:05:06

I have to admit I very rarely properly cry at films. But "Up!" gets me every time.

TicTacSir Sat 16-Feb-13 21:05:41

Yup. Big lump in throat every time, the passage of time and all that... but Up (cremeeggthief you're spot on) actually makes proper tears fall...

saycheeeeeese Sat 16-Feb-13 21:05:45

One of my toys that I mentioned up thread was a doll that looks like Big baby

<sobs uncontrollably>

mrsjay Sat 16-Feb-13 21:08:49

aww no go up the loft and get her out grin

saycheeeeeese Sat 16-Feb-13 21:10:50

I can't ive had a few too many vodkas to climb the ladder without breaking my neck grin

Kyrptonite Sat 16-Feb-13 21:13:23

DS hasn't played with his toy story toys in a year. I've boxed them all up together and left the lid open so they can come and go as they please.

I don't think any film has affected me as much as Toy Story 3!

PessaryPam Sat 16-Feb-13 21:13:52

EllieArroway Sat 16-Feb-13 21:14:09

Yep. Me too blush

And Sully's face right at the end of Monster's Inc gets me every fricking time too.

drmummmsy Sat 16-Feb-13 21:15:44

soul destroying - so is the 2nd one where that Jessie song is played

LovesBeingWokenEveryNight Sat 16-Feb-13 21:15:52

Me too

saycheeeeeese Sat 16-Feb-13 21:20:47

drmummmsy I know the one, oh lord that song has set me off again!

krytonite that made me chuckle grin

MikeLitoris Sat 16-Feb-13 21:21:31

Jessies face when she is in the car, just before being dumped always gets me.

Agree with sully Monsters inc too.

jinsymaw Sat 16-Feb-13 21:23:14

As Sneezysnatcher says, when toys reach for each others hands before the incinerator! XX

Clarabumps Sat 16-Feb-13 21:25:42

Tigress...That is EXACTLY why I howl like a baby. It's the whole being a grown up bit that gets me... sob

Kyrptonite Sat 16-Feb-13 21:26:09

We have Lotso bear too. He's just chucked in the toy box at my mums though.

Evil strawberry smelling bear.

wintertimeisfun Sat 16-Feb-13 21:29:51

i always cry a/when they are holding hands in the furnace and b/when he is giving the little girl his toys at the end of the film. mind you, i ALWAYS cry and pretty much all the endings of Little House' which i have on dvd and watch with dd 10 (she doesn't cry though) :-D

PoppyWearer Sat 16-Feb-13 21:35:15

We have the DVDs of Toy Story 3 and Up. But I haven't dared to watch them yet, for fear of uncontrollable blubbing (me).

DC1 blubbed for hours after Jessie's song in TS2. Poor wee thing is only 4yo and it was over a year ago!

saycheeeeeese Sat 16-Feb-13 21:36:32

winter I LOVE little house smile

I cry at adverts now too...I think as you get older the reality of life always hits harder so when these films pull on the right string well...I end up like a bowl of blubbing mess.

I effing sobbed my heart out at Bambi last week when I watched it with DD because I kept thinking what if I died and left her without her mum sad

HazelnutinCaramel Sat 16-Feb-13 21:39:09

Oh God, me too, every time.

It's about saying goodbye to your childhood isn't it. And letting go of something you love.

<starts gently weeping>

saycheeeeeese Sat 16-Feb-13 21:40:48

Sorry for making you all cry

((((((((((((((((Group hug)))))))))))))))))

pluCaChange Sat 16-Feb-13 21:54:50

Those bloody films are all about increasing the pester power of child hoarders!

<grumble, grumble>

saycheeeeeese Sat 16-Feb-13 22:01:21

Im a self confessed child hoarder smile I still have all my barbies at my mums house.

gaelicsheep Sat 16-Feb-13 22:09:42

Yes YABU. Which bit makes you cry?!

saycheeeeeese Sat 16-Feb-13 22:15:21

The bits mentioned up thread...before the incinerator when they hold hands, the bit at the end when Andy passes on his toys. .. sad

INeverFinishAnythi Sat 16-Feb-13 22:15:30

Bit sad when they all hold hands at the incinerator, but I keep it together, because you know it'll all be ok, until Andy plays with them that one last time. Then I'm a wreck. Damn you Disney!!

I weep like a baby, as does DH. Weirdly, I think children don't find 3 as sob-inducing as adults because they aren't thinking about their children moving out, growing up, changing but we are.

gaelicsheep Sat 16-Feb-13 22:16:48

Blimey, it's a cartoon!

GregBishopsBottomBitch Sat 16-Feb-13 22:18:57

Oh i cried at Toy story 3, and when Jessie got dumped in Toy story 2.

saycheeeeeese Sat 16-Feb-13 22:19:12

yy mrsterrypratchett

You hit the nail in the head

All those films have a wee message for the grownups.

Really? I've seen it once and thought it was dire, fell asleep in the middle. Must have missed the point I think.

saycheeeeeese Sat 16-Feb-13 22:19:55

gaeilc have you seen it?

If cartoon is just a cartoon, then all the books in the world are just paper. Mark Kermode says that the Toy Stories are the only perfect trilogy. Him and Simon Mayo can't talk about them without welling up and coughing in an embarrassed fashion. One of the reasons I [heart] Mark Kermode.

FlouncingMintyy Sat 16-Feb-13 22:22:09

Yanbu, it is a fantastic film with an incredibly poignant denoument.

gaelicsheep Sat 16-Feb-13 22:23:21

I have, many many times. I like all the Toy Story films but TS3 doesn't make my cry.

saycheeeeeese Sat 16-Feb-13 22:27:01

it just pulls on my heartstrings.

Me and dh agree the toys story films are definitely 3 of the best films ever and very poignant.

Schnarkle Sat 16-Feb-13 22:33:41

I had to switch it off the first time I tried to watch it.

I got as far as the incinerator and couldn't stop sobbing. I watched it again on my own soon after and sobbed from the start to the finish as I knew what was ahead from the get go. Even reading posts now about the film has me welling up. big girls blouse

GazpachoSoup Sat 16-Feb-13 22:34:42

Aw, see it's not so much Toy Story 3 with me that makes me blub. I sat with not a single tear rolling down at that in the cinema. stony faced
It's always been Toy Story 2 with me. That song and that bit where Jessie gets dumped at the side of the road and her owner abandoned her?! sad
Listen to all the lyrics of that song and Jessie peeking out of the cardboard box and I defy you not to blub, just a little bit. Waaaaahhhhhh sad

saycheeeeeese Sat 16-Feb-13 22:37:35

<imagines dd growing out of her little teddy bears she loves and goes to bed with and blubs again>

GazpachoSoup Sat 16-Feb-13 22:45:47

I weep like a baby, as does DH. Weirdly, I think children don't find 3 as sob-inducing as adults because they aren't thinking about their children moving out, growing up, changing but we are.
Ohh, you've just made me feel young for the first time in forever.grin I sometimes think, even though I'm "old", the mum bit in me is lacking that I don't think the Andy getting old thing and not wanting to play with his toys is something to worry about.
As I only have pre teen small people.
I'll probably get it and cry at Toy Story 3 in 10 years time, but until then Toy Story 2 and the Jessie dumping bit gets me!

Aww bloody hell say am now sniffling imagining my DD saying she doesn't need her stuffed Pluto dog as she's a big girl now sad

jollydiane Sat 16-Feb-13 22:51:38

You are missing the point, my teddy is actually alive. Don't tell me that you don't still cuddle your teddy. wink

Never get rid of a loved teddy. I grew out of mine and would have chucked him away in my teens, but my parents sensibly put him away, nothing would part me from him now. However I am completely unmoved by the Toy Story films, seen them once and that's been enough.

I still have Saffy and DD will never let go of Horse (no matter how much he flipping stinks).
