I even like him in the Bombardier ads he is doing on Dave... But watching the comic strip....oooeeerrrr...I would!

AnitaBlake Sat 16-Feb-13 15:29:56

if you are BU then so am I! I saw him in Bottom Live a few years ago, and he got more than a few wolf whistles! smile

YouTheCat Sat 16-Feb-13 15:30:24

Huzzah! grin

Phwoar. Lord Blackheart. Woof!!

badtemperedaldbitch Sat 16-Feb-13 15:32:19

I knew I wasn't being hormonal!

I like a man with nice teeth!

Sorry Flashheart. grin

McBalls Sat 16-Feb-13 15:35:59

Oh god yadnbu!

He was my first proper sleb crush.

As a 12yo I was OBSESSED with him in Drop Dead Fred. In fact, I quite fancy watching that again.

MikeOxardAndWellard Sat 16-Feb-13 15:43:55

Eugh, YABU! That advert makes my skin crawl, if I wanted to hear sex noises I'd make some myself. I liked him in drop dead fred though, a looooong time ago.

MrsRajeshKoothrappali Sat 16-Feb-13 15:49:15

I've fancied him since I was about 12.

He's hot.

LegoAcupuncture Sat 16-Feb-13 16:08:03

No no no, Rowan Atkinson is much more of a weird crush. Rick is ok I guess.

natwebb79 Sat 16-Feb-13 16:10:33

He's gorgeous. Def in my top 5 hot slebs! grin

DeafLeopard Sat 16-Feb-13 16:11:06

YANBU I found him bizarrely sexy as Alan B'stard

I've had a crush on him for 17 years. Not strange at all. Oh no. Not one bit. Completely normal. Absolutely. Yes.

twinklesparkles Sat 16-Feb-13 16:12:06

Yanbu smile

He is awesome

badtemperedaldbitch Sat 16-Feb-13 16:20:34

Oooh Alan b*stard. Mmmmmm!

fluffyraggies Sat 16-Feb-13 16:21:00

I find him attractive in Bottom. I think when he smiles he makes a great leap from looking quite ordinary to being devastatingly hansom.

(but not in the Bombardier ads)

snowtimelikethepresent Sat 16-Feb-13 16:21:42

Defintely not. He was presented with an honorary degree at my daughter's graduation ceremony and he was VERY naughty (and funny!)

badtemperedaldbitch Sat 16-Feb-13 16:28:26

It's definitely his teeth, and that impish grin!

Only two people against. Is that some sort of aibu record?

mrsbunnylove Sat 16-Feb-13 16:33:01

not unreasonable at all.

Darkesteyes Sat 16-Feb-13 16:36:10

Lord Flashheart oh yes.
If you havent seen the Comic Strip production of Five Men in a Car i highly recommend it.
It was originally broadcast at the time of his quadbike accident.
Five Men in a Car is fucking hilarious.

badtemperedaldbitch Sat 16-Feb-13 16:37:43

Oooh I'll have go see if it's in my box set

Darkesteyes Sat 16-Feb-13 16:40:47
Figgygal Sat 16-Feb-13 16:41:51

Absolutely not ive fancied him since those beer adverts about 20 years ago he was one of my first crushes!!

Anyone remember Kevin Turvey Investigates? Loved that.

BonVoyageCharlieBrown Sat 16-Feb-13 16:54:53

I have a weird soft spot for Adrian Edmondson. I don't know if thats better or worse! blush

bellejar Sat 16-Feb-13 16:59:11

Ha! Beat ya ladies. I've been in love with him for 30 years since The Young Ones. And Flasheart. Woofioni!!

EstherRancid Sat 16-Feb-13 17:06:14

i've loved him like forever

since he was kevin turvey

bellejar Sat 16-Feb-13 17:12:59

OK Esther you win. Evev I don't go as far back as Kevin Turvey! God, do you remember when he had that quad bike accident? I read in an interview that he has difficulty remembering his lines and his timing's off now sad Still think he's hot though.

marjproops Sat 16-Feb-13 17:14:55

bellejar, me too. I started watching the young ones BECAUSE of him. dont find him so attractive any more but he was there among my teen crushes.

Witco Sat 16-Feb-13 17:17:18

Euugh, definitely not!

Bunfags Sat 16-Feb-13 17:27:28

YANBU. He's hot! I've had a crush on him for years. I wouldn't kick Adrian Edmondson out of bed if he farted, either.

EmmaBemma Sat 16-Feb-13 17:51:36

Nothing strange about it. I had a whopping crush on him when I was a teenager, after I saw him as Lord Flashheart in Blackadder Goes Forth. I even managed to carry a (flickering) torch all through the Bottom years.

EstherRancid Sat 16-Feb-13 17:52:29

i do remember about the accident sad

i bet he still does that dirty snurk though grin

and as for this be still my teenage heart!

StickEmUp Sat 16-Feb-13 18:07:58

How odd, ive always thought he was nice. Yanbu

TomArchersSausage Sat 16-Feb-13 18:12:54

Yanbu. (Also Eddie aka Ade Edmonson)

Ah Bottom quotes...without them dh and I would have so much less to say to each otherblush It's how we communicategrin

Loved 'Filthy Rich and Catflap' too. grin

FreudiansSlipper Sat 16-Feb-13 18:31:24

woof woof I would

And Alan B'stard grin

GetOrf Sat 16-Feb-13 18:37:03

Oh god yes I have fancied him for years. He was my first crush, before I even knew what crushes were. I was allowed to stay up and watch the young ones - I would have only been about 5.

I used to get strangely nervous about watching him as Alan B'stard as I had such a huge crush. And when he snogged Bob in Blackadder 2. God!

He's great.

TroublesomeEx Sat 16-Feb-13 18:39:54

YANBU. I would.

He's incredibly sexy.

BalloonSlayer Sat 16-Feb-13 18:51:42

I have always liked him too.

As someone else said - he has lovely teeth.

Has anyone else seen "Mr Jolly Lives Next Door" - it's a comic strip one and utterly fab.

There's a bit when Rik is drunkenly talking to Nicholas Parsons (yeah I know, you have to see it), and his face is all red and shiny and pissed and sleazy, and then he smiles . . . and I think "ooh gosh what lovely teeth."

Ebayaholic Sat 16-Feb-13 18:52:57

Ooh I would too.... In fact Dh was in a a west end show with him in 1991 and reckons if he tweeted him, we might meet up. Shall I ask him to do it?(Note, DH is not famous now!)
Also, I would so do a Rowan Atkinson/Mayall threesome.

i brought drop dead fred yesterday grin

i love him too. glad im not alone

bellejar Sat 16-Feb-13 18:59:00

Ebay was it the ill-fated Simon Gray play when Stephen Fry had the melt-down and ran off to Belgium? Oh Rik, Rik, you have a wife. Get her on Mumsnet to tell us the gossip swoons

Ebayaholic Sat 16-Feb-13 19:10:23

Hi bellejar, no it was waiting for godot. Am feeling a bit of a WAG tonight though!

Bogeyface Sat 16-Feb-13 19:19:27

Anyone who doesnt like him should watch "DAncing Queen" one of his Rik Mayall Presents series.

The bit where he is in a DJ, presenting Helena BC with a meal under the stars........I defy anyone to not want to jump him there and then!

Maureen Lipman fancies him too!

Bogeyface Sat 16-Feb-13 19:20:21

It was "Cell Mates" where Stephen fry had a Bi-Polar breakdown. In Bottom live Ade Edmunsen watches one of RM's rants and says "I am beginning to see why Stephen Fry fucked off" grin

EstherRancid Sat 16-Feb-13 19:23:36

oi Sparks get your 'ands off my Kevin Turvey grin

(tis margot here btw)

Lambzig Sat 16-Feb-13 19:27:50

For me mainly as Alan B'stard. Even years later in the play I was swooning. So very very wrong.

LittleEdie Sat 16-Feb-13 19:44:57

I would.

Faxthatpam Sat 16-Feb-13 19:46:08

I know someone who had a fling with him .... way back in the day when he was just a young stand up... She said he was incredibly sexy.

Bogeyface Sat 16-Feb-13 20:03:46

He was a bit of a shit back in the day. He got his GF Lise Mayer PG at the same time as his bit on the side who is now his wife. LM had a miscarriage after he left her sad

bellejar Sat 16-Feb-13 20:08:03

He looks like the type of man who has a big

ravenAK Sat 16-Feb-13 20:10:38

Oh gosh yes.

Drop Dead Fred is one of the few kids' films the dc know I'll never complain about watching for the hundredth time...

I do love Ade Edmonson but my brother looks exactly like him so that would be weird. grin

BalloonSlayer Sat 16-Feb-13 20:15:39

Anyone else see the last Shrek film and feel gutted that the villain looked so llike Rik Mayall but obviously wasn't cos he didn't have the voice. sad

bellejar Sat 16-Feb-13 20:19:48

He was Peeves the poltegeist in Harry Potter (I think it was Peeves) but ended up on the cutting room floor.

I used to really fancy Tony Slattery in 1991 until I discovered he wasn't a girl person. And then he ended up in "Kingdom"...

Darkesteyes Sat 16-Feb-13 21:18:42

Oh yes i remember Dancing Queen. Loved it.

ChewinTheFat Sat 16-Feb-13 21:37:50

He has a lovely smile and eyes. That does it for me ha!

yaimee Sat 16-Feb-13 21:43:00

I've met him, he came into the shop where I did my work experience, he was a lovely guy but he did buy a t shirt that said 'never trust a creature that bleeds for 5days and doesn't die'. That put me off for life!

oldsilver Sat 16-Feb-13 21:45:03

See, I would definitely prefer Ade - saw Bottom Live and for some reason couldn't take my eyes of his shoes [strange]

Funny thing is DP is the spit of him and fashioned himself on Eddie Hitler long before I knew him.

I wouldn't say no to Rick though either!

SaggyOldClothCatpuss Sat 16-Feb-13 21:49:51

CRIKEY! Most of you are just babies!

oldsilver Sat 16-Feb-13 22:14:49

I'm glad you said "most of you" grin

muffinino82 Sat 16-Feb-13 22:49:15

'never trust a creature that bleeds for 5days and doesn't die'

Mr. Garrison lol grin That film is amazing, it would only have increased my respect for him.

Lord Flasheart, woof!

Startail Sat 16-Feb-13 22:55:58

yaimee Sat 16-Feb-13 23:19:02

grin lord flasheart.
It was more the teen skater dude t shirt than the sentiment really!

Darkesteyes Sat 16-Feb-13 23:21:51

yaimee thats awful. thats horrible. i would give any man who wears a t shirt like that a wide berth. its a mysogyny shirt.

muffinino82 Sat 16-Feb-13 23:25:43

But the source is all, what a film (possibly my favourite cartoon character of all time): Ze Mole

Leather Sat 16-Feb-13 23:26:48

Love him. Saw him one day when I popped out for lunch on Tottenham court rd, nearly died on the spot,
I thought no one else on earth fancied him...

muffinino82 Sat 16-Feb-13 23:28:53

Maybe you need to see it in context (the character is very homophobic/mysoginistic due to his surpressed homosexuality/transexualism):
Suck My Balls, Mr. Garrison

Bogeyface Sat 16-Feb-13 23:54:19

In terms of personality though I would go for AE, if only because he must be bloody wonderful if the gorgeous funny and clever Jennifer Saunders has been married to him forever!

Bogeyface Sat 16-Feb-13 23:54:43

JS is my girl crush in case you hadnt noticed, I want to look like her when I grow up grin

McBalls Sun 17-Feb-13 00:00:50

I thought I was the only one too.

Feel a bit miffed actually, it's like when a band release a single you had thought of as your own little gem of an album track.

I see someone else on here had a thing for Tony Slattery too....mine really was very short-lived.

I'm sure I will stand alone with my adolescent crush on Terry Christian.

Actually I'm noticing bit of a trend, good (feminine?) bone structure, filthy grin that suggests depravity....

McBalls Sun 17-Feb-13 00:02:33

And, objectively speaking, a tad sleazy.

I really was an odd child.

bellejar Sun 17-Feb-13 00:15:17

We nice girls just love a bad boy...

Ariel21 Sun 17-Feb-13 00:20:31

OMG me too! When he donned an Aran cardigan to advertise Nintendo, I knew he was the one. Sexy as fuck. First crush.. Still would.

Bogeyface Sun 17-Feb-13 00:25:04

I also had a brief thing about Tony Slattery, was put in its place by him being odious in Peters Friends.

Kenneth Branagh however, took over at that point and has stayed in my heart ever since wink

Terry Christian just seems.....mucky to me. In a "not had a bath this year" way, not in a sexy way!

Bogeyface Sun 17-Feb-13 00:25:30

Hang on, Tony Slattery gay?!

I missed that memo!

thequietone Sun 17-Feb-13 00:25:48

I remember about 8 years ago I was pushing DS1 in his pram in Bristol and looked up to see this familiar face. I looked, he looked, I realised it was only Rik flipping Mayall, I blushed and grinned and he smiled at me in such a way that I can still recall to this day.

I have always fancied him! YANBU

mum2bubble Sun 17-Feb-13 00:37:27

YAabsofuckinglutelyNBU I've fancied him since The Young Ones - even saw him as Kevin Turvey at the Edinburgh Fringe about 30 years ago grin

ReluctantDogOwner Thu 12-Jun-14 16:31:31

oh how sad he is now gone. I too had something of a crush on him
