Liz love, don't you realise that people are laughing at you, find you very sad, bitter and twisted.

She needs help, doesn't she? Poor thing.

MonthlyNeedsToDecide Mon 28-Jan-13 23:41:28

YANBU, fuck me she's horrible

suburbophobe Mon 28-Jan-13 23:54:32

Older mums have children not because they love babies – if that were the case they would have taken the plunge in their early 20s

What a ridiculous statement.

As if you could just pick one up while shopping....

I happened to meet the man who I wanted to have children with in my 30's.

And certainly wasn't ready in my early 20's the horror!

(that I ended up a LP is neither here nor there).

SolidSnake Mon 28-Jan-13 23:57:42

ugh this article is foul, no other words for it. I really hope she just writes these kinds of articles just to get a reaction, because if that's really her view, that's just really sad.

ShellyBoobs Mon 28-Jan-13 23:59:43

YANBU.

But there's already an AIBU thread on this.

Here

* politically opposed to being stirred up and manipulated by outrageous articles in the Daily Mail*

The paper wants me to be angry. So I'm not because I don't care... I win!

suburbophobe Mon 28-Jan-13 23:59:59

Just read the rest of it, god what a loadadrivel!

deleted203 Tue 29-Jan-13 00:00:30

She's a silly woman, unfortunately. I used to cringe when I read about her dithering on whether to adopt an Indian baby with her husband (who was cheating on her repeatedly and eventually fucked off). She spent months doing ridiculous wailing about 'what if it is sick on my cashmere cardigans? I don't know if I could cope' and it was clear that she saw a baby as some sort of 'designer accessory' that she could buy from somewhere.

Now she spends her time writing scathingly about mothers as though they are all selfish and evil - conveniently forgetting the time she was on again/off again about 'adopting a baby'.

stargirl1701 Tue 29-Jan-13 00:00:47

What a bizarre article? Op-Ed? Blog? Is this the usual standard of journalism in the Daily Mail?

Jojobump1986 Tue 29-Jan-13 00:09:53

I'm really struggling to find any words. As a SAHM in my mid-twenties, nothing she wrote actually applies to me & yet I feel offended on behalf of slightly older mothers everywhere. I don't see why I should make a better mother now than I would do in 5 years! Also, confused. I feel very confused by that whole jumble of thoughts. Why would anyone see fit to publish that?! confused

quesadilla Tue 29-Jan-13 00:14:37

Oh she does realise, I think. That's the trade off she has made: she knows she has screwed up all of her human relationships so she is trying to capitalise on the fact that her misery and misanthropy are so lucrative. Because she is never going to find true happiness. So she may as well...

MyCannyBairn Tue 29-Jan-13 04:19:25

What a sad lady. I pity her.

Eliza22 Tue 29-Jan-13 09:35:18

She's utterly awful. But then, this woman NEVER has a decent word to say does she? My mum buys the DM and I glance from time to time. Liza Jones strikes me as someone riddled with self pity and is just terribly .... Sour. Yes, sour about life, other people, older mums, her ex, her own mum, life...

Eliza22 Tue 29-Jan-13 09:37:18

Liz....LIZ. And is that her job? Moaning and bitching, endlessly about EVERYTHING? No wonder she's as she is.

PessaryPam Tue 29-Jan-13 09:39:01

I doubt she cares, the point is to get readers to the paper, which she obviously succeeds in.

BupcakesAndCunting Tue 29-Jan-13 09:43:46

She is a professional troll.

However, I am bemused at the way that she assumes that all women who've borne children have husbands that are playing away. As far as I can see, she has great difficulty in holding on to any man. She is a man repeller. Hardly surprising. I bet that shagging La Liz would be akin to shagging a flatpack kitchen unit, in terms of personality and physically.

HA! "I have a friend" Actually Liz, you do NOT have any friends as you keep moaning about every week in your bitchy column about your imaginary bf.

Absy Tue 29-Jan-13 09:46:20

She does, presumably. And she knows how much angry traffic she will get because of it and how much kerfuffle/extra press/extra publicity, and thereby get more advertising revenue for her employer, and thereby get more money.

Absy Tue 29-Jan-13 09:48:31

I agree with Bups though, on her being a professional troll and her likeness to flat pack furniture.

OpheliasWeepingWillow Tue 29-Jan-13 09:48:47

She's paid to be Mad. I reckon she's actually a fluffy hug addict who has sold her soul to the devil for cash and notoriety.

Bless her.

BupcakesAndCunting Tue 29-Jan-13 09:53:32

I still prefer her over India Knight, though...

DreamingOfTheMaldives Tue 29-Jan-13 09:56:08

What a delightful woman she is.

MrsWolowitzerables Tue 29-Jan-13 09:59:33

What an ignorant, pointless rant.

Silly woman.

hopenglory Tue 29-Jan-13 10:03:24

The DM seem to specialise in dreadful women journalists. Somebody has shared an article there today by Liz Hodgkinson. Must be wonderful to be her children.

Gigondas Tue 29-Jan-13 10:03:53

Why does she annoy you more bupcakes? Just interested.

And as for liz jones, it's not news that she is as mad as a van full of badgers.

SanityClause Tue 29-Jan-13 10:05:09

It's just her opinion. It's really sloppy journalism - there are no references to back up any of her statements, except for her own anecdotal evidence.

Just ignore, and stop clicking on the DM website, FFS!

Babybeargrylls Tue 29-Jan-13 10:05:09

This article follows yesterday's Mary Berry one... what is the matter with the DM??

SanityClause Tue 29-Jan-13 10:10:02

The DM's raison d'etre is to criticise women.

Women who work. Women who don't work. Women who have children. Women who don't have children. Women who have children when they are young. Women who have children when they are older. Women who don't care all that much about their appearance. Women who do care about their appearance, but have a different sense of style to whoever is commenting that day.

Do you have a vagina? Then the DM is happy to criticise you!

BupcakesAndCunting Tue 29-Jan-13 10:11:23

Well, a few reasons really...

There is something of the comedy about Liz. She is definitely a professional troll, and a very good one I suppose. I get the feeling that if you scratch the surface there might, just might, be an alright person underneath. Also, I do feel a bit sorry for her. Her husband was a shit and she obviously has trouble with the men. Probably because she is neurotic. But she is very open about all of this. She doesn't try and hide what she is.

IK seems like a schoolyard bully. I won't say too much as MNHQ deleted all of the anti-IK posts on a thread concerning her a while ago, but yeah. She is like the Queen Bee whilst her minions sit fawning over her. And she isn't even as good a writer as Liz.

Sallyingforth Tue 29-Jan-13 10:19:23

I'm sure she does OP, but she has succeeded in getting the DM discussed yet again on MN and many more visits to their website, so she is doing her job well.

BegoniaBampot Tue 29-Jan-13 10:41:27

Wonder what she's really like. She's obviously just writing for reaction, doing her job as do most daily Mail writers do. Wonder sometimes what they really think when they are writing the crap they do, as i don't believe they believe the stories and views they write. Probably they take it as game to see who can come up with the most froth inducing articles.

babyicebean Tue 29-Jan-13 11:11:26

Why is her chicken on a course of chemo?

EssexGurl Tue 29-Jan-13 12:39:02

Sorry, I think that we are all being unreasonable in giving her any air time (me included here - I appreciate the irony!).

Maybe if everyone ignored her, she would go away.

Lives in hope!

rollmopses Tue 29-Jan-13 13:40:07

Oh, tiz so simple really, how can you lot not understand?
Ms Jones needs to earn a living and quite clearly, has no ability nor talent for anything remotely useful or interesting. However, spewing venom and spite at one of few remaining society groups not covered by Uber-PC veil (as in grounds of race/welfare status/religion/etc), she squeaks her abuse and gets the tut-tutting DM readers in a regular daily tizzy. Job done and pennies in the piggy-bank.

gimmecakeandcandy Tue 29-Jan-13 18:59:51

Agree about India Knight - awful woman. Not sure why mn likes to suck up to her... Oooooo will this be deleted?!

Cherriesarelovely Tue 29-Jan-13 19:12:24

Hideous, self absorbed woman. I'm amazed anyone publishes the crap she writes.

nailak Tue 29-Jan-13 19:20:05

it is strange how in the comments, so many older mums defend their position by dissing younger mums, kind of ironic?

Megatron Tue 29-Jan-13 19:23:19

I have no idea why anyone gives this woman head space. Haven't read the article as, having read previous nonsense from her, I doubt anything she has to say would be of any interest to me at all.

twoboyslater Tue 29-Jan-13 20:30:49

As a 20 something Brit, there is nothing I love more than seeing a Liz Jones article pop up on my Daily Mail App - it is literally the highlight of my week.
Liz Jones in the most vulgar, self indulgent, self absorbed, judgemental, hypocritical, spiteful, repugnant example of a 'woman' that I have ever come across. And the best bit is that she has no fear in making this public knowledge.
I love to hate her!

Her views on 30+ parents are dangerously narrow minded. But I don't need to tell you that, cause you all know already, what a massive burk she is.

OTheHugeManatee Tue 29-Jan-13 20:48:56

Jiz Loans is a comic genius. She's the reincarnation of Quentin Crisp. She's totally playing a part, but she plays it so deadpan that people take it literally and get all bosom hoicky about it.

I reckon she'd flatten India Knight in a pub fight too.

JamieandtheMagicTorch Tue 29-Jan-13 20:50:47

I think Liz Jones has mental health issues. I really do.

scottishmummy France Tue 29-Jan-13 20:52:20

I think Liz is wily bird who knows buttons to push, every time,on time
and the indignant middle class mummies on mn always get het up and respond
folk on mn are habitually yakking about her,her copy gets coverage. kerching another dm link clicked

I think Liz Jones is hilarious, like a female Boris

I fear India Knight is serious

nkf Tue 29-Jan-13 20:58:28

Sometimes I think the Daily Mail must have someone in marketing who's job it is to link their sillier articles to MN. And probably to other websites.

What's this one? Lis Jones writes a silly article shock. No! I mean, she's normally so wise.

nkf Tue 29-Jan-13 20:59:30

Whose job.

LucyGoose Tue 29-Jan-13 21:16:48

Now that made me laugh! Love it! And her chicken is on a course of chemo?!?! WTF?

MixedClassBaby Wed 30-Jan-13 13:39:48

I'm an older mum and did nearly fall asleep at work at my desk yesterday whilst doing an ocado order. That bit made me laugh. Still, she aint welcome at my fantasy picnic as this kind of crap fuels my DM reading mother who then snipes at me.

andubelievedthat Thu 31-Jan-13 03:46:51

yeah, Liz Jones , columnist in/for Britains 2nd most popular comic, the sisterhood!.

PenelopeChipShop Thu 31-Jan-13 05:49:58

She's doing her job, stirring up ire among women by spouting misogynistic shite. What shocks me more than what she actually said, on this occasion or any other, is that such a job exists in the UK in 2013.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

Chandon Thu 31-Jan-13 07:36:45

She IS a professional troll.

And generates lots of clicks and therefore, can be considered successful. Hr articles get talked about. And whether uou like it or not, YOU clicked on it too.
She is a professional troll, bully, annoyer, and MN keeps on linking to her loony articles.

I bet you she is laughing all the way to bank.

scottishmummy France Thu 31-Jan-13 07:43:04

liz and dm are linked on mn daily.every day a dm by someone who protests they no likey
lj is skilled at winding up the middle class indignant mummies, and they post about it every time
she knows exactly what shes doing

Whitewineformeplease Thu 31-Jan-13 07:55:37

My New Year's resolution was to ban the Daily Mail, no clicking on links, removed it from my history, etc. I'm a month in now and I feel so much better, sort of... clean...

thebody Thu 31-Jan-13 08:16:18

She's just writing this to get a reaction. It's what she and her ilk do.

She has bills to pay I suppose and she chooses this way to do it.

Best way to show how silly this is, don't buy dm or read it online and ignore.

On a personal level I feel sorry for her. She seems so bitter and lonely.

Shame.

SamuelWestsMistress Thu 31-Jan-13 12:32:48

She is a cunt.

Flobbadobs Thu 31-Jan-13 12:39:35

Sadly she used to be a very entertaining writer, now apparently her standards haven't so much dropped as plummeted through the floor.
She needs to stop bitching about women with children and concentrate on rescue animals which seems to be something she has a genuine passion for. Maybe if she concentrated her energy into promoting that and using her influence in positive ways she would be a more contented person..

scottishmummy France Sat 02-Feb-13 11:50:46

liz knows if she stopped bitching about women with kids that the mn mummies would have to find someone else to be indignant about
shes canny, she gets talked about and linked on mn daily.kerching for her job done

PickledInAPearTree Sat 02-Feb-13 12:10:29

Sandra from London has it right. An illogical rant.
