.... In that colour scheme?

Lambzig Sun 27-Jan-13 09:32:57

YANBU, I totally agree, its almost unwatchable.

Celticlassie Sun 27-Jan-13 09:33:57

hmm

If that's not tennis... what the hell is? grin

grin it looks as though its being held in a community leisure centre from the 80s.

Unless it's in all white and on the lush green grass of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club then it isn't proper tennis. Harrumphs like a horse

countrykitten Sun 27-Jan-13 09:38:59

It's brilliant! Just enjoy the fabulous talent and ignore the colours.

BooksandaCuppa Sun 27-Jan-13 09:44:55

I knew that's what you were going to say!!

Of course it's proper tennis. But they do look vair scruffy.

Can't watch. The trainer squeaking is setting my teeth on edge. grin

seeker Sun 27-Jan-13 09:50:42

And those squeaky shoes!!!<shudder>

YY seeker stop the squeaking!!

oh i agree, its just not tennis

Anyone seen cricket lately? That's not cricket either. Not a cricket white in sight. angry

MrsDoomsPatterson Sun 27-Jan-13 09:54:00

The officials look like they work for easy jet.

And where the chuff is the Robinson's?

EuroShagmore Sun 27-Jan-13 09:54:29

The squeaking is very annoying.

Startail Sun 27-Jan-13 09:58:25

The mouse powered trainers are very annoying, and black clothes against the black backdrop is horrid.

Floralnomad Sun 27-Jan-13 09:58:35

You get used to it , have you lot not been watching it for the last two weeks ?

MrsDoomsPatterson Sun 27-Jan-13 10:01:44

Yes, I have. Squeaking not bothering me. Looking forward to Wta starting tomo!

SnakePlisskensMum Sun 27-Jan-13 10:12:43

The squeaking shoes are awful but at least there's no Azarenka style screaming!

Floralnomad Sun 27-Jan-13 10:14:20

The only problem with the tennis is that the cricket is on the other side , I'm having to watch that on Sky go at the same time !

TaggieCampbellBlack Sun 27-Jan-13 10:16:54

Some observations from a non-tenniser.....

1. That blueness is hard on the eyes.
2. The squeeking is setting my teeth on edge, surely something could be done to stop it.
3. Their feet are the size of canoes.

Yes Taggie good points.

From another non tenniser-

1. It is too blue.
2. It is too squeaky.
3. It goes on too long.

And I have gone right off Andrew Castle since his 'when sorry isn't enough' advert. angry

Vibration damper? confused

TaggieCampbellBlack Sun 27-Jan-13 10:23:51

4. Their nasty nylon outfits are virtually identical. It's very hard to work out whos who.

Floralnomad Sun 27-Jan-13 10:36:20

Murray has black shoes , Djokovic has white , although you don't see much tennis if you're watching their feet.

Startail Sun 27-Jan-13 10:44:03

I wish they'd make them wear different colours.

TaggieCampbellBlack Sun 27-Jan-13 10:45:11

It's not Real Tennis.

TaggieCampbellBlack Sun 27-Jan-13 10:45:42

Boom Boom grin

MrsDoomsPatterson Sun 27-Jan-13 10:52:50

The Real Tennis courts at Hanpton Court are amaze!

blonderthanred Sun 27-Jan-13 10:53:57

Why are they each wearing one white wrist band and one yellow? Did they share out two pairs between them?

LadyBeagleEyes Sun 27-Jan-13 10:55:24

Well it is tennis, but not as we know it.

TaggieCampbellBlack Sun 27-Jan-13 10:55:26

shock language!

seeker Sun 27-Jan-13 10:58:36

And now they're grunting.

MrsDoomsPatterson Sun 27-Jan-13 10:59:11

Hampton. Not Hanpton!

TaggieCampbellBlack Sun 27-Jan-13 11:00:37

Bored now. Off to Lidl.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid Sun 27-Jan-13 11:06:10

I am feeling awfully superior when I ask....have you not seen any non-Wimbledon tennis before? The colours ARE generally brighter and the sounds squeakier. Wait until the end and you see the showbiz jamboree. Ghastly colonials.

blueraincoat Sun 27-Jan-13 11:15:23

Been watching this at work most of the week where the TV is on mute with subtitles. Didn't know about the squeaking. Eeeeeeek.

EyesCrossedLegsAkimbo Sun 27-Jan-13 11:48:50

Hmmm the colour isn't as bad as the Madrid Blue Clay fiasco.

LeeCoakley Sun 27-Jan-13 11:55:09

Can't believe a Brit would not have white shoes. shock
And the squeaking is really off-putting. Venues - change the surface ASAP!

MrsDoomsPatterson Sun 27-Jan-13 12:35:15

I was aghast when navy blue Ralph Lauren came in over green & purple at Wimbo. And who remembers Barbara Potter in the 80s? She wore a jumpsuit!!! Or something like that anyway.

PuffPants Sun 27-Jan-13 13:13:29

I though all the thanking of sponsors was a bit vulgar and the endless crawling to the tournament organisers, what was that all about? Somehow Wimbledon feels like a proper sporting event whereas that felt like a very dull corporate shindig without canapés.

Can you imagine if we had to listen to a speech from the CEO of Robinsons at the end of the Wimbledon final?
