You know, when you see someone and think they got it right? For me, it's:
really good hair cut and colour
A really good pair of shoes or boots
Simple lines and colour. Always depresses me when older women wear only black or grey. Get some red!

I'm loving the chunky wooly hats and scarves that are everywhere at the moment.

Short dresses or tunics and leggings/ jeggings with boots. I know they've been slagged off on here! But they suit my shape honest.

Ugg boots. I can't deny it. I just luffs them. Nothing to do with them being fashionable or not.
Blue/stripey/stripey+blue clothes
I don't really have an fashion sense. Sometimes I think that at 20 I should care a little more about fashion, but I don't.

Yeah, me too. Accessories can jazz up an outfit for little expense. Well, unless its an Hermès scarf!

Ooob yes, the rock chic thing, bring it on! Rock of Ages inspired me to buy a gorgeous pair of studded biker boots. Early midlife crisis now I'm 40?

The beatnik look is my favourite fashion. Am getting too old and fat for it now!
Dresses with skinny jeans! I have chunky thighs and have never worn skinny jeans but my friend talked me into a pair with my knee length biker boots and a short black lace dress, and, upon seeing the photos from the night out, I actually didn't think I looked hideous for once!

To be honest I really like an 'un fashion' look - individual, a bit slobby, hand knits and charity shop chic.

The anti-Victoria Beckham look?!

I live in skater/surfer style clothes. Comfy, practical and can be made feminine when needed
I love black opaque tights - but only good quality ones. The cheap ones that teenage girls wear are horrible (but I still buy them for dd2 because she kills them so quickly!).
Love my black skinnies too - took me a long time to try them, having done them in the 80s - but I just love them now and they make my legs look skinny.
Biker jackets - but not black ones, as I look like an aged goth in black ones.
Faye Dunaway in bonnie and Clyde the hair and beret that sort of beatnik but elegant.

Noddy, have you seen Brigitte Bardot as Bonnie in the video for that song what she sung with Serge Gainsbourg?
<swoon>
I love the smell of leather and suede.
And I am right with you on the red, OP - red shoes make me feel happy.
I love those breton-stripe tops the first day it's warm enough in the summer, too. I don't know when they've ever been fashionable but they just feel summery and smily to me.

All my latest outfits have been very simple and fitted which (if I can be bothered) I wear with killer stilettos and classic accessories ... for work!
Red/Burgundy/Wine is my colour but I have a lot more black and navy, as it is easier to match when you don't have a lot of time to shop.
Anything retro.
High glamour, simple accessories, gorgeous tailoring. I love vintagey fabrics, modest clothing, tailored fits that accentuate curves, high femininity, very neat.
But sometimes I lean more towards goth/rock chic.
Black black and more black. Skulls, studs, silver jewellery, lace, corsetry.. etc.
I love a look that shows a very unique style, creativity and personality. I think most people dress very safe and boring.
I like: handmade, crochet, original, bright hair, good quality materials, ponchos, eccentric, rainbows, mismatched, beautiful patterns, 1960s, 1970s, 1920s, organic, inspired by art and nature, Indian, Vietnamese, native American, butterflies, birds, magical, fun.
I hope fashion on the street becomes more imaginative. Style is not about black, tailored uniforms.

Pencil skirts! I also love the look of the first picture posted by MurderofGoths. My current fave look is a pencil skirt, very fitting cardi, heels and a messy updo...
I don't read fashion mags but I went on holiday at the end of August and bought some of the heavyweight mags (Marie Claire, Red) to keep me busy.
I loved the A/W brocade and paisley , tapestry , embroidery fabrics
