We have to visit dh's hometown later this month to complete some paperwork. I am 37 weeks pregnant and exhausted. He hasn't booked a bloody room! and, there's no space at any of the inn's. I could cry.

part of me wonders if he is somehow punishing me (the baby isn't his) but I thought we had worked through our problems, especially since he was spoken to by my friend, G.

AIBU to be angry?!

sparkle12mar08 Wed 05-Dec-12 13:00:15

We do this every year. I just can't get worked up about it anymore.

Rosduk Wed 05-Dec-12 13:00:22

YANBU- I wouldn't worry though, I have a funny feeling everything will work out in the end 😜

ChiefOwl Wed 05-Dec-12 13:00:25

Ha! At first I thought wtf...very good smile

QuietNinjaChristmasSpecial Wed 05-Dec-12 13:00:34

Yanbu. Bloody men are so disorganised. You never know though if you turn up on the day you may get a cancellation?

'He was spoken to' by your friend, what do you mean?

Have you sorted your transport yet? You wouldn't want to have all the hire cars run out and, I don't know, be forced to ride on a donkey or something stupid.

gordyslovesheep Wed 05-Dec-12 13:01:12

YANBU what a selfish turd - I bet he hasn't even booked a donkey for the trip

can they baby's real father help out with some miraculous last minute accommodation?

<penny dropping>

ahhhhhhhhhhhhh I get it now grin

haha xpost

aderynlas Wed 05-Dec-12 13:02:10

Tell G to have another word, is it wise to be riding a donkey op.

Theicingontop Wed 05-Dec-12 13:02:24

Don't stress yourself. Save the moaning for when the baby's here and random people wearing funny hats give you completely useless baby gifts.

ImmaculateTeen Wed 05-Dec-12 13:03:07

he has a friend who says they might be able to swing something. As long as we have a roof over our heads...

Chris, a friend visited him and explained the situation better than I ever could.

IveBeenGoodSantaIPromise Wed 05-Dec-12 13:03:31

Brilliant. You had me grinning!!

Sorry must play along...

Poor you immaculate teen. I'm sure some one will take pity and find you somewhere safe and dry. G sounds like a good friend, like a guardian angel perhaps?!

NoKnidForABed Wed 05-Dec-12 13:03:37

Have you thought about how you're going to get back home? I bet you don't even have a babyseat for the donkey, do you? hmm It's not safe without one, you know! Poor baby. sad

Dead69Girl Wed 05-Dec-12 13:03:41

haa haa fab OP

ImmaculateTeen Wed 05-Dec-12 13:04:38

the babys father helps out where he can, but he is very Busy and Important.

Fairylea Wed 05-Dec-12 13:05:06

Hahaha !

For a second.. just a second.. I nearly posted a genuine "leave the bastard" smile

NoKnidForABed Wed 05-Dec-12 13:05:48

Too Busy and Important? Who does he think he is? Sounds he's suffering from a God complex...

Why couldn't you have booked your own room, for christ's sake? wink

ImmaculateTeen Wed 05-Dec-12 13:07:18

tbh, dh is wonderful, there's not many men who would take on another man's child. even if I am still... untouched.

cheekybaubles Wed 05-Dec-12 13:08:40

You getting there by Sat Nav?

cheekybaubles Wed 05-Dec-12 13:09:45

LTB and book yourself a spa weekend hun. hugs x

Mulledandmerry Wed 05-Dec-12 13:10:02

Don't be worrying about the birth..I've heard that for people like you it will be completely pain free and uncomplicated. Thought of any names yet? Maybe Brian? smile

ImmaculateTeen Wed 05-Dec-12 13:13:14

we use yonder star, have you heard of it?

I really liked John, but my cousin has named her ds that. she has been a bit weird about me getting pg. she had several issues conceiving and theres me, not even touched by a man and boom.

I've got a full house but my shed is free if you want it.

I must warn you I have a few animals but as long as you aren't allergic you'll be ok. Might even have an old crib lying round if you need, save you packing the travel cot.

ImmaculateTeen Wed 05-Dec-12 13:15:39

oooh, thank you goldplated!

Longdistance Wed 05-Dec-12 13:15:58

Little donkey, little donkey.......

abitcoldupnorth Wed 05-Dec-12 13:16:20

reminds me of a great card we got a few years back of a certain lady on a donkey being led by the man.

"Great. It's Christmas, I'm pregnant - god knows how - and now you tell me you forgot to book a room!"

cheekybaubles Wed 05-Dec-12 13:16:57

"A man and boom" <mind boggles> grin

alwaysawake Wed 05-Dec-12 13:17:07

Your DH is BVVU, you should insist on a luxury room to give birth in! My DH would let me have a whole palace if I wanted - you need to tell DH you expect better! Although speaking of mine, he's been having some worrying ideas lately about finding these weird traveller blokes so he can track down someone else's baby which is all a bit weird but no-one's perfect.

LRDtheFeministDude Wed 05-Dec-12 13:17:15

Well you don't sound very meek or obedient. hmm

Don't you know you're meant to agree with strange men deities instruct you to do something?

gordyslovesheep Wed 05-Dec-12 13:17:51

it must have been a shock finding out you where expecting

Fakebook Wed 05-Dec-12 13:18:53

I have a manger Moses basket you can take with you if you need one.

cheekybaubles Wed 05-Dec-12 13:19:27

I know goldplated's place, its round the back of the travelodge. She has straw for bedding though, always sets my hayfever off and very scratchy.

MyNutcrackerSuiteAudrina Wed 05-Dec-12 13:21:21

I hope the bad feeling gets sorted between you and your cousin. Your DC and her DS could grow up to be great friends if everyone keeps their head smile

Haha Gordy.

victoriaplum01 Wed 05-Dec-12 13:24:50

Gordy grin

ImmaculateTeen Wed 05-Dec-12 13:25:25

alwaysawake, really? how strange. is he some sort of politician? I heard that the gov were cracking down on families...

LRD, blame the hormones!

cheekybaubles, oh THAT one. next to the sheep field?

MyNutcracker, I know. things were quite iffy for a while. and thats not even taking into consideration my parents' reaction. they had saved up for my wedding and everything.

ImmaculateTeen Wed 05-Dec-12 13:25:57

gordy, ah, you're one of my FB friends!

Groovee Wed 05-Dec-12 13:26:16

Oh dear, do you HAVE to travel at over 37 weeks pregnant? Can't you just stay home?

alwaysawake Wed 05-Dec-12 13:31:47

Immaculate - yes, he's very high up and don't worry, he's got nothing against families per se AFAIK, although the IL's are VERY odd - he's just got this weird idea that someone's kid is going to take his job one day. This kid's supposed to be some massive up and coming bigwig though so don't worry, if your DH can't even afford the BethleHilton then your dc has nothing to worry about, I'd bet my life on it wink

MrsMerryMeeple Wed 05-Dec-12 13:34:25

Hmm. Yes. I've heard the authorities are preparing some aweful family planning legislation! Banning first born sons! Don't know why there hasn't been an upcry about it on here before...

Acekicker Wed 05-Dec-12 13:35:25

I think it's best to try to relax, making plans too far in advance, won't help you in the long run. Who knows what's around the corner after the birth in anycase. My advice would be that when you set off to DH's hometown you take with you anything of sentimental value or stuff that's really important to you, depending on how things pan out after the birth it could be a while before you're back home.

YADNBUnSeasonable wink

LittleChristmasBearPad Wed 05-Dec-12 13:35:37

I can send you a swaddle if that's helpful. Hope you won't have too many visitors straight after.

ShakySingsMerryXmasEveryone Wed 05-Dec-12 13:38:32

Ha, ha!

But what sort of present would you buy for a baby born at this time of year? My 3 clever uncles have got some ideas, but I think they are a bit odd to be honest.

ImmaculateTeen Wed 05-Dec-12 13:40:29

the new ruling about first born sons is just weird!

Always, you may be surprised, after all, I have high hopes.

thank you all so much for your offers of help, I shall remember this...

ImmaculateTeen Wed 05-Dec-12 13:41:20

shaky, I do have a wishlist for mothercare, I'd rather something useful, tbh.

Sallyingforth Wed 05-Dec-12 13:43:41

I'm very worried for your baby OP.
He's going to come to a very bad end.

cheekybaubles Wed 05-Dec-12 13:45:10

Yes immaculate. That place smells rank, you might want someone to bring you some Frankincense to help mask it?

WingDefence Wed 05-Dec-12 13:47:09

I think your DH sounds rubbish TBH. Are you sure he's going to hang around after the baby's born?

ShakySingsMerryXmasEveryone Wed 05-Dec-12 13:52:24

Right, I'll sent my 3 clever uncles of to mothercare, men are bloody rubbish at choosing presents grin

purrpurr Wed 05-Dec-12 13:57:31

Ain't it grand that two thousand years ago some woman remains a virgin but miraculously becomes preggo so we decide it MUST be the son of god, yet if anyone tried that these days they'd be on Jeremy Kyle within half an hour of a BFP???

hiddenhome Wed 05-Dec-12 14:00:14

You can stay at mine, but I want a share of the proceeds from Hello Magazine grin

cheekybaubles Wed 05-Dec-12 14:04:47

I wouldn't be too keen to offer hidden you will have Herod's men on your doorstep in no time...

Sallyingforth Wed 05-Dec-12 14:08:48

OP I hope you have been onto the CSA. The real father has to pay for this.

shewhowines Wed 05-Dec-12 14:19:59

TBH I think you are being a bit mean to your Dpartner. He is standing by you, even though you are up the duff with another mans child. Not every man would be so understanding.

Yes YANBU to think that he should have sorted the room earlier but he has probably needed the time to get his head round the whole idea. In his eyes it appears you haven't even been honest with him. Not slept or been touched by another man! I think he's a saint for even hanging around.

maddening Wed 05-Dec-12 15:22:52

Do the paperwork on line - then feet up to eat pineapple and some perineal massage.

ShakySingsMerryXmasEveryone Wed 05-Dec-12 16:22:04

I agree purr

I think you should ask Jeremy Kyle for DNA tests and double lie detector, it is the only way to solve a problem in this day and age!

FobblyWoof Wed 05-Dec-12 16:22:28

It took about five posts before I realised this was a joke blush blush

ShakySingsMerryXmasEveryone Wed 05-Dec-12 16:28:52

Ha ha Fobbly grin

trikken Wed 05-Dec-12 16:31:32

me too Fobbly, fell for it last year too..

MadameCoco Wed 05-Dec-12 16:37:26

OP think this might help. Maybe your situation is not unique...

cheeky its got cracking reviews on Trip Advisor though! In fact, we are overbooked on the 25th of this month!!

gindrinker Wed 05-Dec-12 21:03:35

Have you tried innkeeper.con they can rustle up space for you?
I'd hope Gabriel would bring you a stonking gift after almost wrecking your marrage?
