And not only that but a pic of Bruce Willis as a potential suitor.

What is going on?

HullyEastergully Fri 30-Nov-12 12:15:02

Has anyone joined?

Won't it just attract a load of "Oh they'll be grateful for a shag-ers?"

If you are a single mum on any dating website many of the suitors will think that anyway ime grin

I know there is one specifically aimed at single parents of either gender. Very weird, and it tags onto membership of other sites as it clearly doesn't have enough members to go round on its own...

I had a date once who had presumed I had joined the single parents site (as he had.) He was most put out when I wouldn't put out grin

Fakebook Fri 30-Nov-12 12:23:59

That's relationship-ist. Can't believe it's allowed.

SuePurblyFeltYourPresents Fri 30-Nov-12 12:29:32

I'm in. Help me write my profile?

HullyEastergully Fri 30-Nov-12 12:30:23

Gorgeous pouting single mummy seeks well-hung rich plaything for fun and more.

BertieBotts Fri 30-Nov-12 12:31:20

I saw that the other day. Most bizarre - especially when it's named so similarly (by design surely?) makes it look like another mumsnet branch off like the academies, home swap etc...

SuePurblyFeltYourPresents Fri 30-Nov-12 12:32:09

I shall practice my pout then. Like they do on the Facebooks. Pout and sideways-upwards squint.

HullyEastergully Fri 30-Nov-12 12:32:30

Is it not an MN offshoot then?

I missed the significance of the .net bit in your thread title blush

What a swizz! Trying to fake a mumsnet connection in order to hook up the poor desparate single horny mummyz. Ugh.

HairyGrotter Fri 30-Nov-12 12:41:52

I'm a lone parent with low self esteem, low standards and desperate for sub standard cock from a bloke who couldn't get laid with the aid of rohypnol and booze...sign me right the fuck up.

Oh hang on...

AllYoursBabooshka Fri 30-Nov-12 12:42:23

Oh my gawd, look at the logo. grin

Cheeky fuckers.

HairyGrotter Fri 30-Nov-12 12:45:23

Ermahgerd, they have horoscope and compatability matching...vital in my opinion for any successful 'hook up'.

Very suss

BertieBotts Fri 30-Nov-12 12:47:37

What baffles me is how they're advertising here and yet MNHQ aren't on their backs about copyright infringement?

SuePurblyFeltYourPresents Fri 30-Nov-12 12:49:49

'sub-standard cock'

grin

HullyEastergully Fri 30-Nov-12 12:56:40

What about Desperate Seeks Anything?

That should do it.

AllYoursBabooshka Fri 30-Nov-12 13:03:58

Careful with your wording there Hairy.

One womans "sub standard cock" is anothers towering inferno of penisy pleasure.

I've just had a look and its a vair cheeky rip off of the mumsnet name.

They refer to it as 'single mums net' in their blurb on the home page. That would be like MN referring to itself as Mumsnet Com or the DVLA site for instance, as DVLA Gov - which obviously does not ahppen in usual lingo so its a blatant attempt to include the highly suss .net bit.

Only a numpty would sign up to a dating site though where the whole emphasis is about being a parent. As boring as any single-interest dating site in my very well researched opinion.

grin at sub-standard cock too. There is a lot of it about.

HeirExtensions Fri 30-Nov-12 13:14:59

I can't see it. No ads on mobile site?

FWIW I think its a good idea for MN to set up a dating site - maybe as an off shoot from the Relationships board grin then we could appoint AnyFucker and Izzy etc to screen potential profiles. That would save me a LOT of potential heartache.

Thats a bit cheeky- has MNHQ seen it yet?

I almost want to sign up and see how desperate some of the Dads are but I'm not single although if dp doesn't hurry up and do his share of the presents and paint dds room that may change

HairyGrotter Fri 30-Nov-12 13:21:28

Oooft what I wouldn't give for a towering inferno of penisy pleasure. Back to looking at pictures of Simon Neil for me sigh

DozyDuck Fri 30-Nov-12 13:27:45

Just checked it and has now realised that actually there is a decent excuse for art era finding dating sites in the computer history wink time for a clear up now haha

WandaDoff Fri 30-Nov-12 13:31:44

Do MNHQ actually know about it?

Did Will in About a Boy set this up? hmm

grin Hairy- that could've been used in 50 Shades- "His towering inferno of penisy pleasure made whatserface bite her lip"

MammaTJ Fri 30-Nov-12 13:42:04

OMG the logo is very similar. <hopes my DP does not feel the need to check browsing history>

OliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Fri 30-Nov-12 22:39:40

Where are you seeing this???

AitchTwoOhOneTwo Fri 30-Nov-12 22:42:50

i actually thought i saw it as an ad on the site... deffo saw it earlier.

RandallPinkFloyd Fri 30-Nov-12 22:58:36

Ooh, I'm in!

Plain looking single mum, wrong side of 30, chubby, no baby-sitters, trust ishoos, saggy tits, and too many cats.

Looking for towering inferno of penisy pleasure.

<<Empties inbox in preparation for onslaught>>

OhFentonDUDE Fri 30-Nov-12 23:03:05

Yep I saw it too on the right hand column strip thingy, below discussions of the day etc.

shock

I did think, I ain't fucking clicking THAT!

AitchTwoOhOneTwo Fri 30-Nov-12 23:13:39

yes that's where i saw it, fenton. i actually thought it was quite a good idea, assumed it was HQ branching out.

OhFentonDUDE Fri 30-Nov-12 23:18:03

<<snort>>

quoteunquote Fri 30-Nov-12 23:19:32

link?

waltermittymistletoe Fri 30-Nov-12 23:21:08

www.singlemums.net

Look at the logo! shock

waltermittymistletoe Fri 30-Nov-12 23:21:33
Piffpaffpoff Fri 30-Nov-12 23:22:28

It is right under the Mumsnet Active box on the RHS of the page. It's there right now on this thread page as I type. Underneath it is an ad choices ad for EAS security tag systems (which, by the way, looks really shit, horrid font, totally out of place on the page!). Underneath the two ads is the usual RHS stuff - Mumsnet active, useful tools etc. I've done a screen grab, will try and send it to you if that would help.

LadyIsabellaWrotham Fri 30-Nov-12 23:23:05

I saw it too - 'tis not a hallucination. Track them down and sue their sorry asses to kingdom come for Passing Off, Olivia.

Softlysoftly Fri 30-Nov-12 23:24:01

Trying to work out if Olivia is horrified or quickly joining up smile

waltermittymistletoe Fri 30-Nov-12 23:25:12

Ooh I bet they're MNers!

AitchTwoOhOneTwo Fri 30-Nov-12 23:25:35

three and a half million members... oof.

quoteunquote Fri 30-Nov-12 23:50:52

thanks for the link,

Do we now try to link photo's to people on here.

the one in glasses is Hully.

runs away fast

quoteunquote Sat 01-Dec-12 11:58:21

I wonder what MN are doing about it.

HelenMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 01-Dec-12 12:02:58

quoteunquote

I wonder what MN are doing about it.

We're, um, looking into it. smile

NaiceDude Sat 01-Dec-12 12:14:39

I was super confused when I saw that advertised on MN - I assumed it was MN's new dating arm as the logo is actually the same! confused

I don't think a single parents' dating service is such an awful idea. Dating with children can represent a very different dating trajectory - babysitters, not inviting them over for a longer time, having to cancel if LO becomes ill. It makes some sense to give people a chance to all be on the same page about it.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie Sat 01-Dec-12 12:16:01

there is a thread in Site Stuff on a similar note

some dodgy stuff on that "adchoices" bit...I saw "Sexy Ukrainian Dating" on there the other night hmm

I saw it the other day

BertieBotts Sat 01-Dec-12 13:10:12

I'm confused now, I thought hq would have been aware of what companies are advertising here? Don't they have to buy the space?

OatyBeatie Sat 01-Dec-12 13:14:05

I've seen that ad a few times and I wondered whether such astonishingly similar branding (the blue silhouettes of mothers, the colour combo of blue and purple, the Mums.net name) meant that the two companies were collaborating. If they aren't, it is a shameless rip-off, and what a cheek to actually advertise here!

PiccadillyCervix Wed 19-Dec-12 21:58:19

Um its back MNHQ and it's giving you guys a bad name I got to say

1. Look and feel your best!

You may have heard it’s what’s on the inside that counts but unfortunately men’s instincts say otherwise. Before the man will take their time to get to know you they will make a judgement on your appearance and whether he thinks you’re his type or not.

JenaiMathis Wed 19-Dec-12 23:25:49

Just did a quick search before saying the same, Cervix. I might report my post just to prod MNHQ gently in the chest.

LucieMay Wed 19-Dec-12 23:38:03

Why is a single parent dating site a bad idea? I massively prefer dating men with kids for tons of reasons, not least that one day, they may end up as step dad for ds and I want someone who's already proved himself as a good dad. Also makes it easier explaining why you need a sitter, can't be spontaneous etc! I also don't want any more kids and a guy in his thirties with kids is much likely to want a baby than one without.

DowagersHump Wed 19-Dec-12 23:43:48

There's nothing wrong with it per se LucieMay, despite Hully getting her voluminous knickers in a twist smile

I think it's more about the site pretending its something to do with MN when it isn't

JenaiMathis Wed 19-Dec-12 23:50:29

that and Single Mums .net .... it's all manner of wrongness.

MarcelineTheVampireQueen Wed 19-Dec-12 23:54:03

It even says in the blurb..

"*This site was created by parents (not single anymore) for parents to have a place to go for online dating*

SUE THEM!!!

LucieMay Wed 19-Dec-12 23:55:18

Dowa yeah I see what you mean, they have ripped off the logo.

CuttedUpPear Thu 20-Dec-12 00:01:29

And the website is cheaply constructed and full of typos - what an insult!

Kleptronic Thu 20-Dec-12 00:28:50

Damn straight it's cheaply constructed, and put together by someone with no design skills whatsoever. 'Tis a travesty.

Also I reckon by the spelling it's American. Or at least the copy has been written by an American. Or by someone with American set as the standard language in their pirate copy of Microsoft Word. With the spillchacker broken.

Not that I'm saying Americans are travesties. Clearly they can't all be. There's too many of them. Obviously every country in the world harbours travesties. I know mine does, and I'm one of them.

That site is a wrong 'un, and it shouldn't be advertised on here, which is not a wrong 'un.

Right that does it I'm going for a lie down.

ike1 Thu 20-Dec-12 00:34:04

D' ya think there might be some cocklodgers going cheap on there?????

JenaiMathis Thu 20-Dec-12 00:41:36

They ought to do PissedOffMums.net for desperate non-single mothers.

PiccadillyCervix Thu 20-Dec-12 00:51:03

Not that I'm saying Americans are travesties. Clearly they can't all be. There's too many of them. Obviously every country in the world harbours travesties. I know mine does, and I'm one of them.

I quite like that little disclaimer grin would have been nice on some of the threads going last week!

mirai Thu 20-Dec-12 00:57:13

I saw it too a few days ago <helpful>

CuriousMama Thu 20-Dec-12 01:06:35

shock Is it an offshoot of mumsnet? The logo!!!

I'll have to tell dp I looked, don't want him worrying wink

BelleDameSousMistletoe Thu 20-Dec-12 06:48:33

I noticed it and, despite being single, managed to resist... hmm. It looks so much like an MN site that I wondered if our previous jokes about a dating site had been taken up.

Please MNHQ make it go awaaaaaay...

IceTheChristmasKateMumsnet (MNHQ) Thu 20-Dec-12 10:42:04

Hi everyone,

We've had a chat with the relevant people, and have been told that ad will be seen no more!

CuriousMama Thu 20-Dec-12 19:12:43

and the logo?
