Especially if they are going to post pics on eBay...
Fourth picture had me going "Ewww"

Yuk what a dump! I bet there's chewing gum stuck on the bottom of that desk, too.

That's a nice retro desk. I have a similar one I fished out of a skip.
I couldn't care less about their carpet. wink

Tamisara Mon 26-Nov-12 14:13:09

Have to admit my house gets pretty bad, as DD1 will not let me vacuum when she's around (she will scream to the point of vomiting).

But, in between I use a dustpan & brush, so even I am a bit shock by those photos. For heaven's sake they could have picked up the larger pieces.

valiumredhead Mon 26-Nov-12 14:14:13

Really, that made you go 'ewwww?' You should see some real 'dumps' -that would put it into perspective a bit. IT LOOKS JUST LIKE MY CARPET AFTER DS HAS BEEN MAKING SNOWFLAKES oops caps lock!

naturalbaby Mon 26-Nov-12 14:16:05

I'm not sure I'd be confident of the finished product if you asked for it to be sanded and varnished.

My house is anything but tidy (licking the carpet is a viable option for lunch somedays) but if I'm taking snaps for ebay then I make sure the background is clean!

Nanny0gg Mon 26-Nov-12 14:25:32

It's not that hard to clean up a bit before taking photos, surely?

<bleugh>

Can't help wondering what that suspicious looking brown thing is under the desk....

takataka Mon 26-Nov-12 14:36:44

That's my house, you cheeky cow!

I was going to be all tolerant, but fuck me that's ridiculous.

And that vile sofa is criminal.

I looked to see what else they had on offer (nothing), they had one negative feedback so I looked at that. It led me on to that persons feedback. 100% positive feedback, but LOADS of negative comments. Are people not putting negative feedback because the other person can then leave them negative feedback?? Doesn't that completely negate the point of feedback?

The desk is great. The crap around would make me inspect the photos more carefully and keep my bid low as I would assume (rightly or wrongly) that the desk probably hadn't been well cared for.

Sellers can't leave negative so the only way to do it is in comments.

bubalou Mon 26-Nov-12 14:56:43

Just wanted to say ewwwwwwwww!!!!

Pandemoniaa Mon 26-Nov-12 14:59:58

It wouldn't have taken a moment to pick up the worst of the carpet debris, surely? I realise that you'd either want the desk or not but actually, the state of that carpet wouldn't encourage me to buy it.

SoleSource Mon 26-Nov-12 15:04:33

Makes my house look like a flea pit.

RuleBritannia Mon 26-Nov-12 16:36:16

I've never seen a wooden school. I suppose they have them in some countries.

I've seen school wooden desks though.

ChippingInLovesAutumn Mon 26-Nov-12 23:54:06

Horatio - sellers can't leave negatives? WTAF? How on earth can they justify a 100% ratio including sellers feedback, if the sellers feedback cannot be negative?? FFS. I clearly haven't looked into this well enough.

mamamibbo Mon 26-Nov-12 23:59:26

maybe they are selling it to buy a vaccuum?

I think seller feedback can be neutral. A neutral would still knock your %age.

It was a very unwelcome change when it was made.

cozietoesie Tue 27-Nov-12 08:14:02

Sellers can only leave positive feedback - and in any case, a neutral has no effect on your percentage.

That positive feedback from a seller must be genuinely positive by the way. A seller leaving a green dot with 'knocking comments' is a policy breach and can be removed by ebay with a policy strike to the seller.

My mistake.

One can of course not leave feedback at all, thus refusing to up their star rating.

ChippingInLovesAutumn Tue 27-Nov-12 23:33:44

How bloody ridiculous - does anyone know why this is? (that sellers can't leave negative feedback)

Chelvis Wed 28-Nov-12 07:55:20

Chipping, it was introduced to stop sellers being able to neg to buyers who had a complaint/problem - some sellers were threatening negs when buyers had a genuine complaint and apparently ebay's research was that buyers were put off buying by the fear of a neg.

Cozie is right, don't leave a 'false positive' of a pos rating and a neg comment, you could well end up losing your account!

ChippingInLovesAutumn Thu 29-Nov-12 11:58:05

Blimey. It would appear the whole rating thing is fucked up not really working for anyone.
