HullyEastergully Sun 11-Nov-12 20:48:04

eh?

gordyslovesheep Sun 11-Nov-12 20:49:13

the seagulls stole it

Kethryveris Sun 11-Nov-12 20:50:30

it was that stinky the dog buried it.

Softlysoftly Sun 11-Nov-12 20:51:48

Yep evil them seagulls.

It started to get names flung about and linked to the farcical attack on Worra and her minion army so the axe fell.

HullyEastergully Sun 11-Nov-12 20:51:56

don't make me hurt you

ginhag Sun 11-Nov-12 20:52:01

I am finding MN utterly confusing at the moment. Stuff goes 'bang', things go 'pouf' and I NEVER ACTUALLY CATCH UP WITH WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON.

need to put more hours in

ginhag Sun 11-Nov-12 20:52:59

Worra has an army?? <awe>

HullyEastergully Sun 11-Nov-12 20:53:10

i have my hurty thing handy

MissAnnersley Sun 11-Nov-12 20:55:03

It was amazing. I got nothing done this morning.

MissAnnersley Sun 11-Nov-12 20:55:58

I kept thinking it would be deleted but it was there for ages.

TaggieCampbellBlack Sun 11-Nov-12 20:56:40

It was so unutterably deathly dull it wasn't allowed to stay.

Softlysoftly Sun 11-Nov-12 20:56:55

Not joking akshewal foot soldiers with Laura Ashley uniforms.

PseudoBadger Sun 11-Nov-12 20:58:40

I heard that Laurence Fishburne may have been involved?

I got bored waiting for it to be deleted

AnyFucker Sun 11-Nov-12 21:00:11

Mitmoo. Watch it gooooooooooooooooooooooo

oldbootface Sun 11-Nov-12 21:07:30

Cod reported it and MNHQ did her bidding.

HullyEastergully Sun 11-Nov-12 21:10:23

Ok. So none of you know.

Why not just say so?

There's no shame in ignorance, you know.

Softlysoftly Sun 11-Nov-12 21:11:54

Mine was true! <<hurt emoticon>>

HanSolo Sun 11-Nov-12 21:12:55

yeah- it had a lot to do with worra.

SpringHeeledJack Sun 11-Nov-12 21:12:56

what, there was REALLY something sinister going on?

and there was me thinking it was Brian and Boffy on a wind-up

<boggles>

BIWI Sun 11-Nov-12 21:18:12

What do you want to know, Hully?

ginhag Sun 11-Nov-12 21:53:32

I believe I stated my ignorance quite clearly.

MrsWembley Sun 11-Nov-12 21:56:00

The Mouldies kept getting mentioned this morning and I had no idea then what it was about, let alone why it went pouf...

Hully, please tell?

CrunchyCowPat Sun 11-Nov-12 22:02:37

No idea, but I am gutted. Have been looking forward to discovering the truth about moldies all day only to log in and see that the thread has disappeared.

BIWI Sun 11-Nov-12 22:27:16

OK.
Are you sitting comfortably? Then I will begin:

A group of long-time MNetters decided that Things Had Changed on Mumsnet, and that the calibre of posts/posters wasn't as good as it had been, and that more recent posters were insufficiently clever/intellectual. So they started their own, breakaway forum.

It was to be kept secret.

Once they had set it up, they decided that they needed to invite other MNetters to join them. So they all volunteered names of their MN friends who might join.

But then, the decision was made that not everyone should be allowed to join. And so they started to 'vote' as to who was or wasn't allowed to join.

When those who were in charge decided that they didn't like the cut of the jib of someone who had been nominated, their 'application' was rejected. The criteria for rejection were many and varied - but also fairly subjective, i.e. whether or not those in charge 'knew' said applicant.

All this was happening at the time of the Christmas MN meet up. Lots of people went along, not knowing that Moldies already existed. Or that they had been turned down. People who thought that other MNetters they were drinking with were their friends, suddenly discovered that they had been rejected. Without ever knowing why.

Justine inadvertently gave the game away, by blogging about the existence of Moldies on a MNHQ blog. She also detailed just how affected she had been by the whole thing. The Moldies, in their complete and total certainty that they were doing something right, actually invited Justine to join them. They also couldn't see that there was anything wrong in them trying to recruit other MNetters to join their breakaway group.

It's very easy for the likes of scottishmummy to dismiss the whole thing as 'words on a screen', but it was hugely upsetting for lots of people. To know that you had been judged and rejected by your 'friends' is not a nice thing to happen.

HanSolo Sun 11-Nov-12 22:29:20

<cough> "inadvertently"?

RonettePulaski Sun 11-Nov-12 22:32:08

Thank. Fuck. Now let's never speak of this again.

So, looks frosty out there tonight eh?

MrsWembley Sun 11-Nov-12 22:32:33

shock

confused

sad

Mintyy Sun 11-Nov-12 22:33:46

It got deleted when I had to go out, even though I had left it open on the laptop to preserve it for reading when i got back, and one of my bloody darling children closed it down. That's what happened to it!!

DinosaursOnASpaceship Sun 11-Nov-12 22:33:56

I still have it open, the last post on it is the one saying its going to be deleted. I keep meaning to read it but it's so long that I can't be bothered.

gymboywalton Sun 11-Nov-12 22:34:37

"<cough> "inadvertently"? "

exactly

disingenuous anyone?

RonettePulaski Sun 11-Nov-12 22:34:50

Oh sad xpost hanssolo

' "^inadvertently^" ' you say? hmm

That's quizzical not sceptical btw

RubyGates Sun 11-Nov-12 22:35:39

grin
That's what the save button is for surely?

(Had to go to work today, so saved it for later digestion)

ginhag Sun 11-Nov-12 22:35:45

I don't think Hully was asking who they were, I think she knows that as she has been here for a billiontytwelve years

There was a thread, and it went 'poof'.

Hassled Sun 11-Nov-12 22:36:45

There was a Moldies thread? Is it nearly Christmas? Were there tears?

Mintyy Sun 11-Nov-12 22:37:52

Oh dinoasaurs, can you c&p it into a word doc and email it to me?

Screaminabdabs Sun 11-Nov-12 22:41:37

Or you could sell it on ebay.

DinosaursOnASpaceship Sun 11-Nov-12 22:42:39

Can I do that from an iPhone? I don't think I have any word app things on my phone. I do have an email button on the phone though, will have a go at copying the thread.

HanSolo Sun 11-Nov-12 22:43:21

heheh ronette- I tried to type "inadvertently" in italics, and it came out as your's did wink

HanSolo Sun 11-Nov-12 22:44:57

FFS- 'yours' sorry

Softlysoftly Sun 11-Nov-12 22:45:25

Hassled it wasn't actually that interesting, no histrionics, though a lot of it could have flown over my head as I'm a relative newbie.

It got interesting when some randomer came on proclaiming another member had drummed her out of eBay or something, all v strange.

RonettePulaski Sun 11-Nov-12 22:45:27

You just select and copy it and paste it into 'Notes' that there little yellow square /
\/
Then select the little square arrowy button on the bottom of that screen and then you can do as you will with it. Innit.

RonettePulaski Sun 11-Nov-12 22:47:14

Yy Han eyetalics. Totes overrated. Meh

Softlysoftly Sun 11-Nov-12 22:49:48

Who is Justine btw?

notusualsuspect Sun 11-Nov-12 22:51:05

It was the same old same old moldies thread, until the end bit where it went a bit strange.

HanSolo Sun 11-Nov-12 22:51:07

eh? Notes?
I can do italics no probs, it just doesn't work if you use speech marks around it!

HanSolo Sun 11-Nov-12 22:51:33

ROFLMAO!

WHO IS JUSTINE??????????

DinosaursOnASpaceship Sun 11-Nov-12 22:53:45

Thanks Ronette, have done that and emailed it to myself. Which is lucky as when I flicked the pages back it's changed and disappeared! And so has the other page I had open (the Worra thread) like magic it's gone hmm

I've got it on email anyway so if you let me know where to send it I'll forward it on to you Mintyy.

notusualsuspect Sun 11-Nov-12 22:54:15

Oh and there was a few moldies on the thread as well, winding everyone up about a supposed scandal.

MrsWembley Sun 11-Nov-12 22:54:37

You'll be not from round these parts, then, Softly...

Tweasels Sun 11-Nov-12 22:54:49

Did they delete the other thread. Some of my best work was on there. Damn this dictatorship.

Did anybody identify the umbrage poster?

Justine founded MN, softly. Did they really invite her? That's the funniest, saddest thing I've heard in a long time.

MrsWembley Sun 11-Nov-12 22:56:08

Oh, and ginhag, I think the explanation was for me, not Hully...smile

Hassled Sun 11-Nov-12 22:56:47

My recollection wasn't that Justine inadvertently mentioned it in a blog, it was on a thread someone started bemoaning the fact that everyone new to MN was really, really dull and thick and how MN was shit. Thread got nasty, J came on to say words to the effect of "I'm sorry you're unhappy, and I was gutted when I heard you'd set up a new forum" at which point thread got much nastier and exploded.

Anyway - it was all a very long time ago. It wasn't just words on screen, it was more than that - but so much time has passed and so many people have come and gone since then that really, what's the point? I don't think anyone actually cares anymore - it's all just shit-stirring.

BIWI Sun 11-Nov-12 22:56:52

They did invite her.

And yes, there was a huge amount of winding up going on on the other thread. e.

IamtheZombie Sun 11-Nov-12 23:00:44

Who is Justine?

Justine is the Supreme Godess of Mumsnet. She sits in the lonely dark tower that rises out of MNHQ and serenely surveys her realm. She reviews the outpourings of our innermost thoughts and heartfelt ramblings and deems them worthy to stay or go. She examines our token offerings of adoration and accepts or rejects them as the whim takes her.

She's owner of the site. We are all here ultimately at her pleasure.

TiggyD Sun 11-Nov-12 23:01:53

"...bemoaning the fact that everyone new to MN was really, really dull and thick... ".
Welcome to my world. Part of the problem with being the most FABULOUS person in the world is that everybody I meet is less fabulous than me. I sometimes wish I could be one of you sad dreary old bags rather than Tiggy "Mighty Stag" D'Amour...

flow4 Sun 11-Nov-12 23:02:49

Gosh, I thought I'd finished with all this cliquey in-crowd nonsense decades ago, when I left school! grin

HanSolo Sun 11-Nov-12 23:04:51

It was v Head Girl and coterie &c, yes.

BIWI Sun 11-Nov-12 23:04:59

No, it was definitely in the MNHQ blog.

TiggyD Sun 11-Nov-12 23:06:50

"coterie" - Old fashioned name for a cloakroom.

Mintyy Sun 11-Nov-12 23:06:57

Justine outed moldies on the "Fuck you Mumsnet" thread started by an exiting mnetter and founder of moldies. And, yes, didn't they invite her to dinner?

HanSolo Sun 11-Nov-12 23:08:24

Yy- was on MNHQblog.

However, no-one ever really read that, so no-one knew until Twigs came on and started bewailing that no-one missed them enough.

HanSolo Sun 11-Nov-12 23:09:11

heheh- X-posts minty

notusualsuspect Sun 11-Nov-12 23:11:29

Yes it all kicked off on that thread. The thread got quite nasty though.

I just watched from the sidelines.

HanSolo Sun 11-Nov-12 23:11:43

<sigh> It's Carrie I feel sorry for really. Justine gets all the mentions, and people always forget about Carrie, who is really very lovely too.

MrsWembley Sun 11-Nov-12 23:16:33

Carrie is v quiet though. You know, I mean compared to Justine...

TiggyD Sun 11-Nov-12 23:18:20

Before my time. It was when the internet was still analogue, computers were all made of wood, and Jordan used to only show her ankles to people.

Hassled Sun 11-Nov-12 23:19:16

You're right, there was a blog. I'd forgotten that bit. Nasty thread was a "you're all thick muppets and you don't appreciate me nearly enough" thing that became about three threads' worth of muck- slinging. Little did we know we'd still be posting about it 100 years later.

ScrambledSmegs Sun 11-Nov-12 23:24:06

I had some fun saving the entire thread at one point this morning when I was convinced it would go poof imminently.

But I have a new laptop and I don't know where I've saved it to <twatface>

What exactly do you want to know, Hully? Basic story is it was all rumbling on happily till the early hours, when <coff's over name> plopped a whole pile of unsubstantiated and wild accusations re: ebay forums* and a certain well-known MNer on the thread. We all went shock. And hmm.

Then someone else came on this morning to do Megalolz at <coff> and claim <coff> had absolutely no idea what they were talking about. And we all went hmm at the Megalolz.

And eventually it all went poof.

*Yes I know it's technically 'fora', but typing it makes me feel like a prat.

HoneyDragon Sun 11-Nov-12 23:25:03

Stags are total dickwads, the ultimate nobbers of the animal kingdom. Pick something else Tiggy.

Hully. You know fine well that for a Mnetter admitting ignorance is the ULTIMATE shame.

MrsWembley Sun 11-Nov-12 23:28:37

Smegs, how's the BH? Thought you might save that fred from deletion if you gave birth during it.grin

ScrambledSmegs Sun 11-Nov-12 23:36:08

Gorn sad Although considering how woefully unprepared we are that's probably a good thing!

LadyBeagle Sun 11-Nov-12 23:41:08

Thanks for that BIWI.
First straightforward explanation I've ever heard, as it was way before my time.
The two recent threads were full of speculation, culminating in lots of bitching and nudge wink stuff, particularly about Worra, a poster I'm quite fond of.
I think the next time the whole moldies gossip starts again, your post should just be cut and pasted, and then we can get on with our MN lives.

LDNmummy Sun 11-Nov-12 23:42:20

I commented on it at the end in a pleasantly intoxicated state while eating lots of cheesecake.

T'was a life affirming experience for me.

Softlysoftly Mon 12-Nov-12 00:14:58

Ooops blush I'll get me coat.

I bloody knew that too, was reading the Fail article on her this morning, I blame sleep deprivation <<glares at DD2>>

StuntGirl Mon 12-Nov-12 00:19:22

Oh god was that really what it was about? It sounds like one of the rating groups on livejournal I was a member of many many, many years ago. I love it when MNetters act like 16 year olds grin

WorraLiberty Mon 12-Nov-12 00:24:55

Ahhh that explains your post then LDN...

LDNmummy Mon 12-Nov-12 01:17:25

Well I had to think of something, anything, to say so I could get in on the gossip. Plus, I knew you wouldn't really mind wink grin

TandB Mon 12-Nov-12 07:52:10

The bit where it got really confusing was the bit where the Megalolz poster came on and rubbished the weird poster who randomly accused Worra of having blown up Ebay or something - but promptly started going on about being a founder member of some Ebay forum and knowing the true story.

So you had two strange people arguing about what happened on an Ebay forum and a lot of MNetters looking on going "Eh? Wasn't this thread about the Moldies?"

Unless, of course, the Moldies actually set up Ebay? shock

But but but........... worra DID blow up Ebay! It was in the papers and everything grin

HullyEastergully Mon 12-Nov-12 08:07:36

Oh gawd

<dim recollections of gardening forum row in the past>

Thanks

TandB Mon 12-Nov-12 08:15:18

I'm going to start accusing MNetters of being entirely random and fictional people from other forums, based on no evidence whatsoever.

I think everyone should know that Hully is in fact a prolific poster called Bob who was a founder member of a Doctor Who appreciation forum. She began a vendetta against me after an argument about which actor is likely to play the next doctor, and has subsequently stalked me across the internet, most recently hounding me off the VTech Toys technical support forum.

I just think people should know that she has this secret past....

MotherfuckingMorrisMan Mon 12-Nov-12 08:24:11

I am still intrigued about the homes and gardens forum and what thrilling conversations about skirting board sizes they must have.

Wasn't shiney accused of being a homes and gardens uberbitch at one time?

What other forums do they have? Dinner Lady chat forums? Terrapinsnet?

HesterBurnitall Mon 12-Nov-12 08:24:38

That kungfupanda ran me off an animated animals forum, that was my only lifeline, because I didn't have enough legs for her and her four legged army.

Yours, Chicken Run Survivor

Pagwatch Mon 12-Nov-12 08:26:06

I was on that thread and for about two blissful hours had some faint idea what the fuck was going on!

But then I had to go out.
But for a while there it was fucking ace. I was tempted to pm people

MotherfuckingMorrisMan Mon 12-Nov-12 08:32:21

I had to go out as well and when I came back it was gorn.

Bastard spin classes.

If I don't get thighs like Jane Fonda circa 1982 I am going to be furious.

ScrambledSmegs Mon 12-Nov-12 08:33:10

Shiny is a gardening superbitch. She has many gnomes. And don't even ask about her caravan.

<not a scooby>

Pagwatch Mon 12-Nov-12 08:34:47

It's sad. MotherfuckingMorris, you did one fantastic work on that thread with eBay based ruckus scenarios . All gorn

Pagwatch Mon 12-Nov-12 08:35:57

some fantastic work. Not one. Talk about damning with faint praise..

MotherfuckingMorrisMan Mon 12-Nov-12 08:37:10

Message deleted by Mumsnet for breaking our Talk Guidelines. Replies may also be deleted.

TandB Mon 12-Nov-12 08:37:32

How very dare you, Hester. That wasn't me, that was Pagwatch.

Who is actually the founder of a secret Netmums sub-forum where everyone's username is HUN for maximum anonymity.

SlipperyNipple Mon 12-Nov-12 08:38:50

It wouldn't surprise me if in a few years someone in america was offering a MN degree. I had no idea about this murky past.

That's mad. There was a breakaway forum started in blogging from one big huge popular old one after someone got a bit too up their own arse. That also caused annoyance as said breakaway person acted like a twat only allowed certain people to join the new forum, yet still stayed on the old one to shit stir have the best of both forums and spy. They also started a meet up thing, and gave their mates licence to bad mouth others on the forum, even though other nicer members immediately and with glee ran to tell those named and bad mouthed on the forum that they'd not been allowed to join. I was allowed but on telling forum owner that they needed to stop allowing this to go on, she then banned me too. Yawn.

However, these two forums still exist, no one bats an eyelid or calls for it to be banned, it (the newer one) has caused all sorts of anger in blogging, and now has Facebook groups where they still bitch and slag off anyone they fancy (and have caused major upset to those not as able to let it fly over their head as others) and a conference of its own. BUT no one bans discussions of it or gets the arse about it, we (the banished or never allowed to join ones who wont arse lick) just look at it as a bit hmm and get on with it.

These Moldies lot sound the same but with more Boden. Did you have to do a secret knock/give vast quantities of Pombears to join? How absurd.

It is true though, words hurt whether spoken direct, typed on a screen or told to you second hand via a raft of PMs on Twitter (as with the above forum). I get told all the time that the forum has yet again ripped the piss out of me, my site, the whole thing. I don't give two hoots 9 times out of 10, but there have been times when I have been really down and didn't need to hear it that day.

MotherfuckingMorrisMan Mon 12-Nov-12 08:41:00

Haha at my one good deed.

That sounds like my mother 'you did look quite nice that time when you went to sarah's party'. Just the once then. And thanks for the 'quite'.

[Grin]

ScrambledSmegs Mon 12-Nov-12 08:41:56

Pagwatch's real name is Nigel.

Trufax.

TandB Mon 12-Nov-12 08:43:29

Actually, having carried out some meticulous research, I can reveal that Ebay was blown up by someone called Veronica who lives in Milton Keynes and collects three-legged cats.

I believe ScrambledSmegs once met her, but she was calling herself Francis at the time.

Now her cousin, Ermintrude, now she's a right piece of work, but I can't tell you about that as it's not fair on Olga.

MotherfuckingMorrisMan Mon 12-Nov-12 08:43:30

WHAT!

Another breakway forum?

Fucking hell I had no idea that mumsnet had spawned so many hezbollah splinter factions.

seeker Mon 12-Nov-12 08:45:06

<consults list of names- carefully angled so the first 5 are visible to the camera. Waits for resignations>

MaryZezItsOnlyJustNovember Mon 12-Nov-12 08:45:40

The moldies thread was predictable.

It was the other thread in Site Stuff that was a real shocker [cryptic].

But now that's gone too.

And my house is still a shambles [sigh]

BIWI Mon 12-Nov-12 08:46:15

Wot? ScrambledSmegs is a man?! shock

nilbyname Mon 12-Nov-12 08:50:05

Links links links??!! I want to see these other forums and chat rooms. I need to know. I have been here for 5 years now and this MOLDIES stuff keeps coming up. I did not know that they invited Justine to dinner. Cringe! How embarrassing!

Is this where
Reality
Anyfucker
LeQueen
Cod
Bupcakes

Have all gone?

Boggles.

ScrambledSmegs Mon 12-Nov-12 08:50:16

Ah yes KFP, t'was a chance meeting on the thirty nine steps at the Reichenbach falls, prior to my excursion on the Orient Express to meet the man from Del Monte.

We don't talk about Olga...

TandB Mon 12-Nov-12 08:51:10

Noone really knows who ScrambledSmegs is - his/her real identity is shrouded in mystery.

But I uncovered a secret code, buried deep in the backwaters of an obscure cycling forum, that suggested that she is actually a one-eyed postman of Nordic descent, currently living and working in St Bees.

But the code also contained some rather alarming references to Veronica and the impending apocalyptical end of Mumsnet, so I was a litle distracted and may have misinterpreted some of the information about Postman Olaf.....

ScrambledSmegs Mon 12-Nov-12 08:51:34

Oh yes BIWI. It's going to make my live birth thread all kinds of eye-watering fun wink

TandB Mon 12-Nov-12 08:52:24

x-posted with Olaf.

Ah yes, poor Olga. We should do something about Veronica, really. Olga didn't deserve what happened to her and Veronica should pay....

BIWI Mon 12-Nov-12 08:56:13

nilbyname - none of those posters has gone anywhere! They are very much amongst us.

MaryZezItsOnlyJustNovember Mon 12-Nov-12 08:57:47

Those are all still here nilby.

Pagwatch Mon 12-Nov-12 08:58:20

I never talk about the Moldies as a general rule ever since I bonded by mistake with DP on a Moldies thread. But I have to say that the bit I love best about the whole thing was that it kicked off on a thread about 'why don't you fuckers wot we rejected miss us more. We are fucking ace and yet you rarely talk about how fucking ace we are.'
It was marvellous.

MaryZezItsOnlyJustNovember Mon 12-Nov-12 08:58:28

BIWI, I have saved your post to churn out at every possible opportunity grin. It will make me look as though I know what I'm talking about.

MaryZezItsOnlyJustNovember Mon 12-Nov-12 08:59:41

I was a lurker back then [reminiscent], it was much more pleasant to view from the sidelines that I suspect it would have been to be involved.

Pagwatch Mon 12-Nov-12 09:02:38

I wasn't involved actually Maryz. I watched it too. I had been on here ages but I knew nothing. I wasn't in any groups and I knew no one off board.

It was like watching your parents have a massive row. I remain fascinated but it's probably because it scarred me.
I was the child neither parent actually wanted grin

HullyEastergully Mon 12-Nov-12 09:05:13

wot thread on site stuff mary?

so the person who thinks R is a gardening forum troll was back?
(I can't remember who it is)
I saw the thread for about 5 mins, left it open on my phone and when I came back it had gone sad

Poledra Mon 12-Nov-12 09:22:25

"bonded by mistake with DP'. Yy Pagwatch, I do find bonding with our partners/husbands to be a bit of an error mostly <nods sagely>

Let's see yer thighs, then, Mother <leers>

MotherfuckingMorrisMan Mon 12-Nov-12 09:22:31

Thread on site stuff slagging off a named poster and saying that she was a bitch called Marie who caused trouble on ebay and homes and gardens forums.

Since deleted.

LtEveDallas Mon 12-Nov-12 09:28:49

Morning MorrisMan, how are the guppies?

AnyFucker Mon 12-Nov-12 09:41:50

wtf

< places hand on the Holy Bible >

I am not, nor have ever been, a member of the Splinter Group known as The Moldies.

I wasn't fucking invited

HullyEastergully Mon 12-Nov-12 09:51:23

I was.

They begged.

No, I said, not on your nelly.

HullyEastergully Mon 12-Nov-12 09:52:44

Poledra - Paggy means daftpunk by dp. She ended up with dp's legs wrapped around her neck. A truly marvellous moment.

It's taken years of therapy for her to be able to mention it now.

HellothisisJoanie Mon 12-Nov-12 09:57:31

The people who are alleged to have been on or invited to Moldies seems to be on a par with the amount of people who saw the Beatles play at the Cavern, or saw the Rolling Stones in Hyde Park.

MotherfuckingMorrisMan Mon 12-Nov-12 09:58:19

I can't cope thinking about DP. I remember when she asked on facebook if she could come to the spring meet up last year, after she had been banned. <shudder>

I did find it very funny that for a good 2 years after the moldies madness if there was a SLIGHT mention of the M word on any MN thread, all the moldies and their foot soldiers came out of the woodwork and started saying how they had been unfairly maligned. They did seem to want the red carpet treatment as well when they deigned to visit as well.

MotherfuckingMorrisMan Mon 12-Nov-12 09:58:55

as well.

Lots of as wells.

GrimAndHumourless Mon 12-Nov-12 09:58:58

yeah there was SCISSORING

MotherfuckingMorrisMan Mon 12-Nov-12 10:00:00

My guppies are fine, lteve <shakes them>

I am also distraught that the insane 6am Tesco lover's post has been deleted. That really did make me laugh.

AnyFucker Mon 12-Nov-12 10:00:12

My dad saw The Beatles at the Cavern. I know it's true, I have seen the tickets.

Perhaps he is a Moldie ? Or his real name is Marie ?

SelfRighteousPrissyPants Mon 12-Nov-12 10:00:12

The site thread made me go and look at the ebay forum- never knew they existed! Someone on there has rats in their car shock

MotherfuckingMorrisMan Mon 12-Nov-12 10:00:44

Did DP actually say that re pag out loud, on a thread, for all to see?

<munch's scream face>

BIWI Mon 12-Nov-12 10:01:12

DP claims she is a lesbian now. It must have been you wot turned her, Paggy.

HellothisisJoanie Mon 12-Nov-12 10:01:19

the idea that Scottishmummy was on there

stifles giggle

MotherfuckingMorrisMan Mon 12-Nov-12 10:01:44

My mum saw the Grumbleweed's original line up.

It's TRUE.

MotherfuckingMorrisMan Mon 12-Nov-12 10:02:40

How the hell can DP be a lesbian when she is a raving homophobe and bloody hounded poor lovely leningrad about the subject.

seeker Mon 12-Nov-12 10:03:20

My brother claims that the only sexuality box he can possibly tick is "lesbian".

HullyEastergully Mon 12-Nov-12 10:03:58

Oh you want sense and rational thinking, Gerrof?

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaaha

seeker Mon 12-Nov-12 10:05:13

Why are people talking about dp? The phrase "oxygen of publicity" springs to mind.

MotherfuckingMorrisMan Mon 12-Nov-12 10:05:14

No to sense and rational thinking. I know that mumsnet ship sailed several years ago. grin

BIWI - fab précis of Mouldiegate.

It was bizarre. I went to the Xmas meet up that year and met some lovely people. Justine and Carrie were there. Everyone was being lovely to everyone. And all the while some people had already voted on and vetoed people who were there. And in fact voted on and vetoed people who they knew in RL and had stayed with at one point if I remember correctly.

Alisvolatpropiis Mon 12-Nov-12 10:05:46

As a complete and utter aside,Justine is in this months Glamour magazine.

HullyEastergully Mon 12-Nov-12 10:06:42

She came back under at least two other names and while I may have inadvertently bonded with one of them, owing to persistent and fawning stalking, there was absolutely no leg and neck action.

HullyEastergully Mon 12-Nov-12 10:07:31

Cider -weird huh?

I am giving up on human beings. They really are an unutterbale disappointment.

MotherfuckingMorrisMan Mon 12-Nov-12 10:09:37

Yes she did come back didn't she. With the same risible opinions iirc.

I think that is staggering that some people black balled those MNers they knew in real life and had STAYED with.

It is all too 'Fifth Form at Trebizon' for words.

I did laugh though that they had invited Justine for dinner. I always thought that Jstine had inadvertently outed the moldies. Do you think that she did in on purpose to get rid of them knowing what would ensue? How wonderfully machiavellian if so.

BIWI Mon 12-Nov-12 10:11:16

Despite the insinuations of some ^ ^, I actually think it was inadvertent rather than deliberate. I know that she was very, very upset about the whole thing.

MotherfuckingMorrisMan Mon 12-Nov-12 10:16:39

OK - I take that back then. I didn't know that she had been so upset by it all.

I had a MN free couple of months that winter - I came back and the atmosphere was like when Chandler pee'd on Monica in Friends. So I missed it all and just witnessed the aftermath.

HoneyDragon Mon 12-Nov-12 10:18:51

Why do we always bring up Mouldies near Xmas? Justine always turns up and threatens to shut the site down for the holidays if we do. Can't we do these threads in June, when it's sunny and the 6 weeks holiday trolls are still busy?

DP once told me I was much too nice for Mumsnet sad

Fenton Mon 12-Nov-12 10:20:50

Didn't dp retreat to NetMums and lure L33 into posting something about her here or did I dream all that?

jjuice Mon 12-Nov-12 10:22:53

Well it's been very interesting reading over last couple of days although I missed last night's.
It all reminds me of when I used to write on a review site called Ciao. At first I assumed it was just a review site. How wrong was I!! There were the equivalent of the Moldies there who lorded it and wrote the nastiest and bitchiest comments on newbies reviews. My reviews were mostly humorous and this was frowned upon by the elite.
The vilest one who thought she was queen ended up stalking me on whichever forum I went on leaving nasty messages that actually had me quite shaken for a while.
I made some really good friends there who I still talk to now, one of them came from the opposite end of the country for my birthday.
I see the witch as we have mutual friends on fb and wonder how I ever let her get to me so much.
Seems wherever you have a large group of people on a forum you are going to get the bitchy, the vile, the stalkers, the affairs and the really nice people like me

BarbecuedBillygoats Mon 12-Nov-12 10:23:47

Nope
Still no idea what's going on
I think moldie gate was my 60s, I was there but...

All a bit fishy

Pagwatch Mon 12-Nov-12 10:28:28

I have had therapy bout the whole DaftPunk thing.
I am nearly better.

Moldies is a Christmas tradition. Maryz will be annoyed. This is very early.

I waxn't invited to be a Moldies but the way my memory is going, give me another couple of years nd I will have been invited, refused on principle and then taken Justine and DP out for dinner. Just wait..

HullyEastergully Mon 12-Nov-12 10:29:43

I was there too Paggy IIRC

Pagwatch Mon 12-Nov-12 10:32:16

Yep. You and Lord Lucan were quite the couple. How well he daanced for a man in disguise.

MotherfuckingMorrisMan Mon 12-Nov-12 10:33:29

THAT'S where Shergar is.

HullyEastergully Mon 12-Nov-12 10:35:50

Shergar was ridden by von Ribbentrop who had popped over from Brazil. How elegant he was.

MotherfuckingMorrisMan Mon 12-Nov-12 10:37:06

Not as elegant as that there Anastasia Romanov.

MrsWembley Mon 12-Nov-12 10:44:49

Morning...

<rubs eyes to check what time it is after losing two hours in the middle of the night to coughing toddlers and still being woken at 7.30>

When exactly did MoldieGate happen?

Fenton Mon 12-Nov-12 10:49:29

'twas the Christmas of 2008, not a creature was stirring not even a bat...

MotherfuckingMorrisMan Mon 12-Nov-12 10:53:28

I am trying to remember what I had on in RL that was so important that I didn't come on MN for 6 months.

MrsWembley Mon 12-Nov-12 10:59:06

Maybe you just forgot to log on... ?

Pagwatch Mon 12-Nov-12 10:59:08

Arf at 'not even a bat'

I reckon Moldies s tiptoeing towards nostalgia.

You wait, one of these days Scottishmmumy will be crafting her best Private Fraser on 'bygone times and wailing over the clique based fracas not being as good as clique based bust ups in days of yore...and precious moments...words on a screen..'

I know. It's fucking uncanny isn't it.

MrsWembley Mon 12-Nov-12 10:59:53

And thank-you, Fenton, that explains a lot. I had only just joined then.smile

Absy Mon 12-Nov-12 11:06:18

What happened? Was Hully misbehaving again?

NotQuintAtAllOhNo Mon 12-Nov-12 11:09:44

confused

The moldies thing was, like, over 5 years ago? I am confuddled.

What is the problem now?

Fenton Mon 12-Nov-12 11:14:27

Someone started a thread over the weekend asking 'so are there any Mouldies still about then?'

and it predictably went a bit, you know, iffy and ultimately got deleted - there were a number of spin off threads and here we are.

NotQuintAtAllOhNo Mon 12-Nov-12 11:16:50

That is just bisarreo shit stirring?

BIWI Mon 12-Nov-12 11:20:46

Yes, it was - and all manner of other stuff - but you had to be there. Not putting in the hours, Quint wink

NotQuintAtAllOhNo Mon 12-Nov-12 11:27:06

<slaps wrists for being slacker>

Too busy on the mn ps3 wonderbook product testing. wink

MaryZezItsOnlyJustNovember Mon 12-Nov-12 11:27:17

Quint, don't be ridiculous shock. It might have been five years, but some people have loooooooooooooooooooooooooooong memories and like to shit-stir

Sorry, I went out so didn't answer your question Hully. But there was a long and baffling thread in site stuff referring to ebay and homes and garden forums, and a poster called Marie who apparently is about to conquer mumnset with her gang.

MaryZezItsOnlyJustNovember Mon 12-Nov-12 11:28:00

Sorry, not her gang, her Krew grin

Absy, yes, Hully was is misbehaving as usual.

NotQuintAtAllOhNo Mon 12-Nov-12 11:28:06

brew

VivaLeBeaver Mon 12-Nov-12 11:38:58

Xmas day 2008. I was working! Fgs. I mean bad enough missing dr who, dinner, etc but I missed most of the fun here.

I'm sure justine outed them on purpose. I sure would have done.

I'm singing to myself now;

Worra's army is on the way
Worra's army is here to stay.

NotQuintAtAllOhNo Mon 12-Nov-12 11:41:27

Viva, I think others who were here, felt they missed Christmas to Moldies in hindsight. I was in Norway.

Absy Mon 12-Nov-12 11:44:33

So this is why MN keeps on breaking? BAD HULLY

HullyEastergully Mon 12-Nov-12 11:52:55

Oi

It's nowt to do with me

BartimaeusNeedsMoreSleep Mon 12-Nov-12 11:59:30

Does anyone else always click on "show all messages" whenever on a moldies thread? grin just in case, you know, POOF!

I'm still shock that people get stalked across boards, PMs, and such like. I must be such a boring poster as I've only ever received 1 PM and that was as a reply to one I'd sent!

ExitPursuedByABrrrrrrr Mon 12-Nov-12 12:03:27

Well there you go - busy yesterday and missed all this.

I am too young to remember the Mouldies.

<goes out>

SpringHeeledJack Mon 12-Nov-12 14:34:53

god I read whole thread

I only came on here to chat about Elephants Breath on Property and DIY

this place

<cries>

SpringHeeledJack Mon 12-Nov-12 14:36:14

twas worth it, though, to hear about Paggy bonding with DP by mistake

grin

VivaLeBeaver Mon 12-Nov-12 14:41:42

I was racking my memory trying to think who or what the hell is DP.

Clicked now. Oh yes.

Absy Mon 12-Nov-12 15:14:52

Right, now I've read the whole thread.

I did actually, on occassion, like dp. I remember there was a thread in chat (I'm pretty sure I've mentioned this before) where someone's daft DH had lost their passport in a cab or summat, and they were flying out on vacation the next day. DP asked her dh (who was presumably a cabbie) to send out a cabbie announcement thingy on the radio, to see if they could find the passport AND then also offered the poster a free cab ride to the airport, which was nice. I also LOVED pointing out, on many occassions when dp was mid anti-immigrant rant, that her parents were immigrants so it was all quite hypocritical. I don't know if I ever got to point out that I was an immigrant as well and exploded her brain.

HullyEastergully Mon 12-Nov-12 15:23:36

Well paggy liked her

a lot

VivaLeBeaver Mon 12-Nov-12 15:32:29

<snigger>

Was she banned in the end? Wouldn't suprise me.

Shodan Mon 12-Nov-12 15:33:47

Reading this thread (or indeed any thread that alludes to The Mouldy Ones) is a bit like watching a furrin fillum when you've forgotten your specs- you can catch about one word in four because you had one lesson of Croation by accident in the Lower Fourth (you should've been in Double Physics and didn't spot the difference until the lesson was nearly over), but have no chance of reading the whole story, although it all seems immensely intriguing (and possibly entertaining, in hands-across-the-eyes-is-it-safe-to-look-yet kind of way.)

Absy Mon 12-Nov-12 15:41:50

It so easily could have been Pag and DP BFF, rather than Pag and Hully.

Think about it

HullyEastergully Mon 12-Nov-12 15:44:21

No no

pag and dp were more like fuck buddies

If I whisper really really quietly will someone tell me what Mitmoo did? Am almost scared to ask in case the Internet blows up.

Absy Mon 12-Nov-12 15:46:18

Or a horribly misjudged holiday romance in shagalouf

HullyEastergully Mon 12-Nov-12 15:46:59

Yes, after far too many Sex on the Beaches

HullyEastergully Mon 12-Nov-12 15:47:33

intra - Mitmoo was jsut a loon who started mad threads, don't know why all mention of her name gets deleted.

Llareggub Mon 12-Nov-12 15:54:24

Well, any mention of moldies for me is equivalent to the first airing of The Pogues and the first scoff of a mince pie. It must be Christmas.

Absy Mon 12-Nov-12 15:58:59

"don't know why all mention of her name gets deleted" probs cos she's actually someone really high up in govt or summat, like the Queen. Mitmoo is the Queen on too many G&Ts I reckon

VivaLeBeaver Mon 12-Nov-12 16:01:57

That;s it now, klaxon going off at MN towers.

RandallPinkFloyd Mon 12-Nov-12 16:06:50

Late to the party as usual but can I just say a quiet thank you to Biwi for actually explaining the whole mouldies thing properly without the usual nudge nudge wink wink business thanks

(Talking of usual where's your side bollocks of shame gone?)

I knew the basics but properly shock at them having the stones to invite Justine! I had no idea DP and L33 were mates either and I certainly didn't know about Pag and the scissoring grin

flow4 Mon 12-Nov-12 16:11:42

I felt a bit like this when girls at school were talking about losing their virginity to The Stray Cats, too... 'Tis intriguing and a bit titillating, but also confusing and clearly faaaaaar too cool for me! grin

Absy Mon 12-Nov-12 16:17:07

Or, not the Queen Queen on too many G&Ts, but Justine a fancy MNer

I still have carved in my memory the names of those moldies who came on here, claiming that MN didn't respect them and miss them as much as they should.

Thank you Hully. Have wondered for ages as the reaction to her name was always so dramatic. Thought perhaps she'd set fire to Justine at the Christmas meet up or something.

GrimAndHumourless Mon 12-Nov-12 16:38:54

Oh NOES now I'm thinking the Scissor Sisters means THAT, and I shall have to have a REVELATION akin to when I found out that Freddie was gay, and that Boy George actually was a boy, not a girl. oh em gee

HullyEastergully Mon 12-Nov-12 16:42:28

um.................

ExitPursuedByABrrrrrrr Mon 12-Nov-12 16:44:16

Did they really do that Franc - complain that they weren't being missed enough?

I wish I had been around then. That is some sense of self importance.

VivaLeBeaver Mon 12-Nov-12 16:47:54

I wish I either had a better memory or an up to date speadsheet. I've been here ages and can't rememebr what the fuck happened before last year. Previous 9 years are a blur.

Oblomov Mon 12-Nov-12 16:48:42

will read later. just marking place.

Forget Im a Celeb, MN intrigued from yesteryear is far more interesting...

Such intrigue

Such finger pointing

And Scottish Mum will probably turn up in a minute with one of her barmy Hiakus too.

The only DP I can think of is Dorothy Perkins. Did the shop for those no longer able to dress in Topshop without feeling old cause scandal on MN? shock

Mind you, in 2008 I was dealing with a prem son who had been home for a week before Christmas and in the midst of an epic breakdown. If only I'd known, I may have been on MN and avoided the whole wailing and depression thing, I'd have been far too busy being hooked on the drama grin

Absy Mon 12-Nov-12 17:15:49

Ooooooooooooooooh ... so that's what scissor sisters means? Huh.

L33 and DP buddies? Really?

Well, my comments on the real ID of mitmoo are still standing so either:
- I'm way off the mark OR
- I'm way on the mark and MNHQ want to distract us from the scent by letting my comments stand <dons tinfoil hat>

HullyEastergully Mon 12-Nov-12 17:16:24

durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Yes they did Exit. Complained of not being considered...

Absy Mon 12-Nov-12 17:17:56

FOFF, as I like the look of you, I'll clear up who DP is. DP was daftpunk, who was a MNer who may or may not have been banned (or was at least banned from NCing) who was a rather, erm, vocal support of the BNP. IIRC she disappeared around the election, having gone to being pro BNP all over the board. She was NOT a fan of immigrants, in amongst other things.

but apparently was a lesbian lover of old Paggy over the. But mostly a quick dirty shag, nothing serious.

Will someone please PM me, I have no idea who anyone is. Absy I'm joining you in the tin hat brigade.

OwlLady Mon 12-Nov-12 17:22:15

who came on and said mnhq didn't respect them enough?

Oblomov Mon 12-Nov-12 17:23:47

The threads ( all 3 of them) this weekend were very very odd. I was watching, and F5'ing. And ... bugger all happened.
Hardly any scintillating gossip.
I learn f**k all, that I didn't know before.

SantasStrapOn Mon 12-Nov-12 17:26:01

DP.
FB.
Bedspread.

wink

Oblomov Mon 12-Nov-12 17:28:22

yes. who exactly?
Twigglet herself?
LittelLapin?
JanH ?
VeniVidiVicki ?
Victorian Squalor ?
LadyTopHat ?
Nailpolish ?

can't remember any other oldies, let alone moldies.

BIWI Mon 12-Nov-12 17:36:07

I'm not sure there's any point in naming names, though, is there?

LadyBeagle Mon 12-Nov-12 17:38:19

Wot Stratters?
Very cryptic.

OwlLady Mon 12-Nov-12 17:40:05

there's no point saying you know who said it and not saying who it was though

just as much as saying they all did this or they all did that. A collective will be full of people of differing personalties surely and one person doesn't speak for everyone

and yes I was a moldie fwiw, it's quite easy to work out who I am/was but I was not important enough to make oblomovs list grin I just cannot remember anyone saying they were not respected or missed enough. Maybe I was enjoying Christmas though or not as the sace may be and was working, my last christmas at woolworths hmm

I knew it would all kick off though, just as mumsonline had previously and that wasn't a private board

AnyFucker Mon 12-Nov-12 17:42:10

bedspread

who knows anything about a bedspread ?

< LOOKS ROUND FURTIVELY >

SantasStrapOn Mon 12-Nov-12 17:42:32

<taps side of nose>

Oh yes LB, and what happened to your Eyes?

Freddie was gay? I, of all pieces of clothing should have known!

shock

I feel like I'm reading one of those Famous Five books where you rolled a dice to get to another part of the mystery, except I got the clue wrong and am now on a page where someone is drinking lashings of ginger beer with no clue how they solved the puzzle at all confused

Pfft to nose tapping and winking.

Rumour had it that DP sent somebody a picture of herself in a very welcoming position on FB. But I'm only a humble bolero, what would I know.

LadyBeagle Mon 12-Nov-12 17:51:15

I'm downsizing since my Halloween name until after my Christmas name when my eyes will return.
What the fuckity fuck has a bedspread got to do anything?

lady I'm going to hide under mine until its all over.

Oblomov Mon 12-Nov-12 17:55:34

sorry Owl grin
I can't remember who I posted with last week, let alone who I argued with last year, let alone 4 years ago.
When I first arrived people like Caligula, Ruty, Tootache, Suedonim, had been here for years. Tiktok, Expat and Spidermama were here too.

Ah, she was lying on a bedspread in the welcoming position. It may have been a floral bedspread, I can't quite recall.

MaryZezItsOnlyJustNovember Mon 12-Nov-12 17:56:54

Freddie wasn't gay shock. He went on a date with Pag once. Or was it Hully? I can't remember.

In fact I can't remember much at all. It must be due to my very advanced age sad.

Is stratters just issuing random letters?

FO
WTF
SIOB
WUD

RandallPinkFloyd Mon 12-Nov-12 17:57:25

Ah, yes that's ringing bells now. I couldn't remember who she sent it to but I'm guessing it was Pag!

GrimAndHumourless Mon 12-Nov-12 17:58:24

ohhh ! at those names, Obl. And Cappo, and WelshBoris, and Desi, and Harpsi

sigh

They really WERE halcyon days

<legs it>

RandallPinkFloyd Mon 12-Nov-12 17:59:14

And there was definitely a terrible bedspread involved grin

Absy Mon 12-Nov-12 18:00:45

That person with the rude name is Stratters?

It was Paggy who went on a date with Freddy Mercury. He can't have been gay.

He may have liked the company of ladies and men. Damn he could rock a bolero though.

VivaLeBeaver Mon 12-Nov-12 18:07:44

He wasn't until that night with Paggy. You can't blame him after that.

butterflyroom Mon 12-Nov-12 18:07:57

Dear God......

MaryZezItsOnlyJustNovember Mon 12-Nov-12 18:11:17

The trouble with these threads is that some newbies (and not-so-newbies) probably read them thinking we actually know what we are talking about.

[snurk]

SantasStrapOn Mon 12-Nov-12 18:12:00

Oh yes, a Terrible Bedspread. And much misunderstanding. IYSWIM.Oh & STFU Mz YKWIM, u c e2e w me?

AnyFucker Mon 12-Nov-12 18:12:27

somebody else got a bedspread pic ?

the dirty, two-timing cad !!

I am knocked-back and cuckolded beyond belief. My life has just lost a little meaning sad

Ah, yes Viva. I was at the dry cleaners, having some sequins replaced and being pressed on that fateful night.

AnyFucker Mon 12-Nov-12 18:13:01

it was a candlewick bedspread, if anyone is remotely interested in my sad distress

I think it was just yourself, AF, didn't want to name names. I heard it was more of a waffley type throw thoughsmile

Chinese whispers and all that.

PrincessFiorimonde Mon 12-Nov-12 18:22:28

Oh dear. A bedspread? shock

HullyEastergully Mon 12-Nov-12 18:24:06

Freddie is/was gay.

Yet he dated our Pag. She was a beard.

And I cna confirm th ecandlewickness.

SantasStrapOn Mon 12-Nov-12 18:25:24

A candlewick bedspread. Much loved by old laydees, allegedly.

The bedspread, not the owner. And yes, tis I. Tis a play on my name and embarrassingly rude.

VivaLeBeaver Mon 12-Nov-12 18:26:01

Lolz

VivaLeBeaver Mon 12-Nov-12 18:26:41

Its not even Dec yet <stern>

MaryZezItsOnlyJustNovember Mon 12-Nov-12 18:26:57

I always though it was a Candlemas not Candlewick blush

HullyEastergully Mon 12-Nov-12 18:28:07

it was candlewick.

She sent paggy a pic of her looking enticing on it.

SantasStrapOn Mon 12-Nov-12 18:30:59

Was tres Come Hither, I heard? hmm

TuftyFinch Mon 12-Nov-12 18:33:22

I'm going to put a bedspread in my campervan.

BeerTricksPott3r Mon 12-Nov-12 18:34:18

I read that as 'tres come Hitler', Stratters. Aptly.

HullyEastergully Mon 12-Nov-12 18:34:52

It worked for paggy.

After Freddie, her standards dropped considerably.

SantasStrapOn Mon 12-Nov-12 18:36:13

<goose steps all over thread>

Well now this is a funny thread.

VivaLeBeaver Mon 12-Nov-12 18:38:41

I had a candlewick bedspread in my campervan. Its the law.

scottishmummy Mon 12-Nov-12 18:43:28

because you op had bad experience online and get hurt in online relationships doesn't negate my opinion
imo need to have an Internet savvy and emotional resilience online, protect self
if any forum affects you so much I'd advise you do need to learn to self regulate

MaryZezItsOnlyJustNovember Mon 12-Nov-12 18:43:51
RandallPinkFloyd Mon 12-Nov-12 18:46:38

Did you get a pm too AF? Crikey shock

SantasStrapOn Mon 12-Nov-12 18:47:24

Is sm on the right thread? hmm

I long for a campervan. Blue, with CK awning and curtains. I would travel round the country with LittleDog and the MagnifiFailCats, trying out all the beaches.

<stands against wall, eyes shut, and prepares to be shot>

LadyBeagle Mon 12-Nov-12 18:52:52

We used to have candlewick bedspreads when I was a kid.
I loved picking out all the little threads out.

BeerTricksPott3r Mon 12-Nov-12 18:53:52

Mine was cut into little squares as Sniffers, to save me dragging the whole blankey around.

scottishmummy Mon 12-Nov-12 18:56:07

oh less of the humphy facehmm initially my thread showed biwi as 1st post.op
I think moldies was histrionics about who's bestie with whom
and the faux ssshhh don't discuss adds to it's mystique,it was actually dull online spat

LadyBeagle Mon 12-Nov-12 18:57:27

But what's your opinion on candlewick bedspreads sm?

santa sm is rarely on the same wavelength as anyone else.
Candlewick bedspreads remind me of The Waltons.

SantasStrapOn Mon 12-Nov-12 19:00:23

And where is LB's Eye?

LDNmummy Mon 12-Nov-12 19:01:06

scottishmummy confirms what I thought about actually just being a pretty dull event in reality (unless it actually involved you personally, then I think it was probably pretty hurtful).

But honestly scottishmummy, a whole thread has been started to disprove your theory that it is all 'just words on a screen' before. Obviously a lot of people disagree with you.

'Dull online spat'.

I like that SM. Turned into the stuff of legend via excessive nose tapping, winking and PMs that never existed.

i just cannot stop reading all this moldies stuff, it really is quite damn exciting! (although i have no idea what is going on/what it's about)
2 day's of my life, i shall never get back. But my god is it worth it! I think it's the mystery that is keeping me hooked.

TuftyFinch Mon 12-Nov-12 19:17:35

Sarah, mine will be a going to the beach camper. With brown dog. Maybe DC if they're good.

AnyFucker Mon 12-Nov-12 19:18:21

Randall I did, and I thought I was the only one

I am bereft. It wasn't a pm though, I was invited as a mumsnet Mate (if that was the correct term...anybody remember them ?) so that i could view a range of < ahem > poses

< sniff >

BIWI Mon 12-Nov-12 19:21:48

Actually, scottishmummy, I agree with you. The whole moldies thing, if nothing else, was a very good lesson about not getting too invested in 'tinternet, and assuming that people are your friends. Very wise to step back a little.

flow4 Mon 12-Nov-12 19:27:27

What the FLYING fuck is going on?!
You're all making it up as you go along, aren't you? wink grin
Like MN Mornington Crescent...

SantasStrapOn Mon 12-Nov-12 19:35:27

Will it have CK curtains and awning Tufty?

Oblomov Mon 12-Nov-12 19:36:26

'just words on a screen'
'Dull online spat'.

I think comments like that are incredibly dismissive and totally totally offensive.

"not getting too invested in 'tinternet, and assuming that people are your friends"

But that too treats people like they are idiots and thought that people were their 'friends'. But you didn't have to think of these people as 'friends', to be hurt by them. So, thats not true either.
It was a nasty nasty saga. Really bitchy and 2 faced and so incredibly nasty.
Lots of people were hurt.
And Justine was very hurt by it all too. Very upset.
Are you dismissive of her feelings and think she is an idiot too?
No. Me neither.

VivaLeBeaver Mon 12-Nov-12 19:37:25

My campervan was blue, with stripey curtains and an upstairs. Me an dd travelled the UK world sleeping in beach carparks all over. Them were the days.

BIWI Mon 12-Nov-12 19:38:38

I'm not being dismissive of anyone's feelings, Oblomov. I was very hurt at the time. But it was a useful lesson for me, not to assume everyone was as they seemed, IYSWIM.

It certainly wasn't just 'words on a screen', nor was it 'dull' or just a 'spat'

It was incredibly nasty.

MrsWembley Mon 12-Nov-12 19:41:20

No-one talks to me so I'd never get upset by 'words on a screen', rather the lack of them...

sad

<wanders off, sniffing>

Absy Mon 12-Nov-12 19:45:46

I feel so left out. I never got any glamour pictures from ANY Mners sad

I'm reading an MN guide - apparently Paggy was going to learn Italian on Mat Leave. I wonder how that worked out ...

Not many people talk to me either and I certainly wasn't upset back then.I had no reasons to be. But it was quite shocking to see people getting so hurt, also because MN was smaller then and the majority of names were more familiar than they are now.

Sorry BIWI, for being flip, it was just the turn of phrase I liked, easy to forget on the interweb that people's feelings were hurt. It is a rubbish feeling to be treated like that by people you thought were friendssad

HELLO WEMBLEY! Noone ever talks to moi either, I just witter on regardless.

Me too Freddie and absy grin

I can't decide whether to feel relieved or insulted to never have received a MN/readers wives cross over picture.

scottishmummy Mon 12-Nov-12 20:08:55

I think moldies has become histrionic and exaggerated.the shhh dont mention it
yes undoubtedly folk got hurt feeling as result of the online,a salutary lesson in be online savvy

scottishmummy Mon 12-Nov-12 20:12:21

don't paraphrase me erroneously oblomov.if you feel idiotic after moldies that's your personal reaction
I haven't said anyone was idiotic.don't attempt to infer I called you or mnhq idiotic
I did find it a dull online spat, and the habitual retelling and faux secrecy too

seeker Mon 12-Nov-12 20:12:23

I can remember being astonished and annoyed with myself for feeling upset that the "mouldies" didn't ask me to joint them. If I'm brutally honest, i'd still quite like to know why they didn't...........blush

Well don't read the sodding threads then! It really is that simple. I do sometimes think you just love to be the voice of cynical reason.

you're not moderator nor do you get to instruct wphow ir where anyone posts
and i think moldies has become a mn urban myth embellished by each retelling

Who gives a shiny shit? Tis old hat.

IN WITH THE NEW I SAY!

<hangs socks on radiator>

No, not instructing you. You're misunderstanding or misquoting me. But i see you on a lot of threads doing the "voice of weary reason" act, and so I'm just suggesting that if they bore you, don't read or post on them. Of course you can if you choose to. But it's irritating when the solution is so clear.

BeerTricksPott3r Mon 12-Nov-12 20:29:04

You'll get condensation problems doing that, mrscumberbatch

BeerTricksPott3r Mon 12-Nov-12 20:31:43

Where did you find the Bumper Book Of Shit Limericks, Tiggy?

It was supposed to be hidden until Christmas morning.

BeerTricks- It's how i know I've well and truly moved in though. I wouldn't ever do it in somebody elses' house.

Talk about a social faux pas!

But aye, this is my gaff as much as it is anybody elses. Moldie or not. Do what you like with your socks grin Just no puppeting!

scottishmummy Mon 12-Nov-12 20:35:37

in online forum I anticipate a range of opinions and I don't need to concur
if you find this all so tiresome shriek that is indeed something for you to reflect upon
I am happy to post my pov,and my pov is moldies is becoming mn urban myth

OK, fair enough. No, nothing for me to reflect on thank you.

Speaking of MN Urban myths..... Where in the World is GabbyLoggon?

FayKnights Mon 12-Nov-12 20:38:52

It was hf123432's fault! I miss everything on MN at the moment, haven't even read the 12 pages for his thread because by the time I do I'll have missed summink else!

TiggyD Mon 12-Nov-12 20:40:56

It was all about Mouldies

AlistairSim Mon 12-Nov-12 20:42:20

Me too, seeker.
Although, I suspect in your case it was because of the thing.

RandallPinkFloyd Mon 12-Nov-12 20:43:12

Ooh AF you must have been her favourite then wink

It's very rare anyone talks to me either MrsW but I bumble around popping in and out of threads anyway. I think I'm just a natural potterer!

I have to be honest though if anything ever disproved the words on a screen analogy it's this.

They're words, plain and simple. Words are the same whether spoken or written. Real words said to real people. Regardless of whether people are who they appear to be they are still people. Words are the most powerful thing in the world.

Of course 75% of what's said on here and in RL is pointless waffle, that's the basis of most conversations isn't it? Fluff and nonsense.

But words can hurt, hurt like nothing else. They can also lift you when you think nothing can. Words matter.

TuftyFinch Mon 12-Nov-12 21:39:57

TellyRotsYourBrain Mon 12-Nov-12 21:42:12

A VW camper? Good nick? Some of them seem really cool. Will you actually camp in it? Or just admire the beauty?

nametakenagain Mon 12-Nov-12 21:43:42

Ew to the contortions. Why, just why?

But oh I'm envy of the camper. Sounds fab

MaryZezItsOnlyJustNovember Mon 12-Nov-12 21:44:08

Telly, the great thing about these threads is that none of actually know what's going on.

I mean, wtf is Tiggy on about shock? And sm writing poetry shockshock?

It's all just weird.

But I've decided that if I pretend to know what's going on that'll do grin.

TuftyFinch Mon 12-Nov-12 21:47:03

Well, it needs a bit of a clean and a polish. I'm going to make new cushion covers and curtains. New flooring - parquet? I will take it to the beach with dog and DC and will camp whenever the feeling takes us. There are loads of lovely places nearby to camp. Can even camp at the beach. Very excited.

VivaLeBeaver Mon 12-Nov-12 21:48:36

Black and white square Lino for flooring.

MaryZezItsOnlyJustNovember Mon 12-Nov-12 21:48:50

Do you know what I'm going to do when my kids leave home.

I'm going to get an old campervan, and I'm going to drive around Ireland, the UK and Europe (and further if I can get there) and visit every mumsnetter I can find grin

TellyRotsYourBrain Mon 12-Nov-12 21:48:58

They will always need a clean and polish but they do come up rather well. <Drives a lowered boy racer car>

SantasStrapOn Mon 12-Nov-12 21:50:07

<drool>

MaryZ I want to do that too.

TellyRotsYourBrain Mon 12-Nov-12 21:50:37

Sorry! Before the lowered bit of my post i said it would look cool to lower your camper. Post Fail!

BIWI Mon 12-Nov-12 21:51:06

Is that a threat, MaryZ? grin

TuftyFinch Mon 12-Nov-12 21:52:06

Viva, yes that's just the thing!
Mary we can convoy.
TellyRots, how can I make it shiny.

<slightly embarrased I've now made the thread about me. But if i'd put this in 'campervans'(is there such a thing?) none of you would have gone there so this makes it more real and normal in a normal way and more like reallife>

MaryZezItsOnlyJustNovember Mon 12-Nov-12 21:53:21

We'll do it together Stratters.

Yes, BIWI

TuftyFinch Mon 12-Nov-12 21:53:50

Lowering anything is way beyond me. Although I did a bit of drilling today. How do you goabout lowering a camper van,Or any vehicle?

TellyRotsYourBrain Mon 12-Nov-12 21:54:20

Well it depends what state its in rust wise. Some are rather rusty but dh and I who are VW freaks like the rust buckets. The good ones are bloody rusty but oh so fucking cool.

MrsWembley Mon 12-Nov-12 21:55:22

I want a camper can

<chuffed that people spoke to her>

TellyRotsYourBrain Mon 12-Nov-12 21:55:42

A mechanic puts shorter suspension springs on it. You cant do it yourself unless you are a mechanic. You can but the springs first for cheapness bit easier to take it to the mechs.

MaryZezItsOnlyJustNovember Mon 12-Nov-12 21:56:16

Oh, yes Tufty, imagine a convoy of mumsnetters. We could trundle up the M4 like Kris Kristofferson

TuftyFinch Mon 12-Nov-12 21:56:26

Telly but don't the rusty ones cost loads to stop being rusty? I've bought a 1981 Leisuredrive. I'd have loved a 70's one but they are more than my budget.

TellyRotsYourBrain Mon 12-Nov-12 21:58:46

Okay I'm going to have to admit dh is the real expert, but you cant get rid of rust. Its permanent. A certain amount is okay for the mot, i think it can look really bad but still pass.
They cost loads not being rusty as you'd need a new one, or expensive new ish, iyswim

TuftyFinch Mon 12-Nov-12 22:00:21

MrsWembly I've wanted one for so long and then ridiculously in the summer I accidently bought a caravan. Which we never used. I've sold the caravan, sold 2 sofas and will sell a car. We should come out even. We've decided that if we don't like it/want it/too expensive/can't drive it we'll just sell it and probably get our money back. I want the DC to have adventures in it. before long they'll have grown up and we never had a camper. So, now we have grin

SantasStrapOn Mon 12-Nov-12 22:04:16

LittleDog can come, can't he? grin

<thinks this is going to be a lot of fun>

TuftyFinch Mon 12-Nov-12 22:07:23

Of <course> little dog can come. Brown dog's coming. Not the cat with no name though. Oh no, no, no, no. I will make tea.

MaryZezItsOnlyJustNovember Mon 12-Nov-12 22:08:33

Of course LittleDog can come.

But I'm not taking FeckingAllergicCat. Or FatCat for that matter.

Or dh.

HullyEastergully Mon 12-Nov-12 22:09:26

tifty darling have you really bought a van?

MaryZezItsOnlyJustNovember Mon 12-Nov-12 22:11:13

Oh, Tufty, is yours a real camper envy. I missed that.

My children's favourite memories of childhood involve camping trips, mostly in the pouring rain. Camping/caravanning is a real leveller.

One piece of advice: buy a plate/cup/bowl/cutlery for each person in the family, in a different colour each. And a drying up cloth. And make them do their own. They cop on really quickly and discover they can eat sausages from their cereal bowl and eat most food with fingers.

Washing up for five people can ruin a camping holiday.

SantasStrapOn Mon 12-Nov-12 22:11:15

Camper Convention grin

TuftyFinch Mon 12-Nov-12 22:12:48

Yes Hilly I really, really have! grin

Very good advice Mary, I will get on to Amazon.

VivaLeBeaver Mon 12-Nov-12 22:13:31

Tufty, mine was a t25 as well.

Was it you I was talking to on mn about camper vans last week?

Mine cost a fortune in keeping it rust free.

SantasStrapOn Mon 12-Nov-12 22:14:07

Oh, we can have sporks grin

<hugs self with glee>

TuftyFinch Mon 12-Nov-12 22:15:26

Viva, I can't listen to talk of rust. I figure if we get a year out of it and then put it on ebay it'll be fine.

TuftyFinch Mon 12-Nov-12 22:16:11

Sporks!

MrsWembley Mon 12-Nov-12 22:18:39

Excellent advice there, MaryZ. We are slowly introducing our DCs to the wonderful world of tents and I think that will do us for next summer when at least one of the blighters will be tall enough to reach the sink.

MaryZezItsOnlyJustNovember Mon 12-Nov-12 22:37:19

They don't have to reach the sink, MrsWembley. They can run it under a tap. There's always a tap somewhere on a campsite surrounded by knee deep mud where other kids have run their plates under the tap

I have another tip for you. In fact I have lots of tips, but here's one:

If you are camping by the seaside get them wetsuits, onsies, and wellies a size too big. That way you bring them back from the beach in their wetsuits, take them into the campsite shower, strip off wetsuits wash them and the suits, change them into their onesies and wellies, and march them back to the tent/caravan. If you don't like onesies, try towelling dressing gowns. But then you need thick warm socks.

Watched Masterchef now.
Have eaten all my burger.
Still pregnant and cross.

We're finished with haikus now though, aren't we?

PILs have a campervan. They won't lend it to us though, the meaners. Sigh.

chipmonkey Mon 12-Nov-12 23:49:47

someone linked to the Moldies site at the time and I tried to register cos I am nosy
About a year. later they sent me an email saying I had been rejected. I found that very strange. All a bit school bully-ish.

flow4 Mon 12-Nov-12 23:51:31

I like the idea of onsies, but I just don't get how they'd work... I mean, don't they need flaps or something?!

RubyGates Tue 13-Nov-12 07:17:23

I leave you all alone for a day while my beloved "upgraded " my Mac to Mountain Lion, and you've all gone stark, staring mad. grin

YY to onsies at campsites.
yyy to lovely, lovely campervans. envy

HullyEastergully Tue 13-Nov-12 08:29:04

<mourns van>

ExitPursuedByABrrrrrrr Tue 13-Nov-12 08:47:48

I am planning on retiring to a canal barge. Much more sedate than a camper van and BastardDog could run alongside on the towpath.

I am always slightly disappointed when I walk past barges and someone is sat there watching Loose Women. For some some reason I think bargees should be doing something more erudite.

<snob>

HullyEastergully Tue 13-Nov-12 08:53:11

I loved our van <weeps> but was too big.

Strangely, we nearly bought one at the weeked, twas on ebay, a converted delivery van thing...the lure is strong.

Tifty you will have great times.

PrincessFiorimonde Tue 13-Nov-12 09:43:46

From this thread I have learned:

Tufty has a campervan, and that is excellent
MaryZ has lots of great advice about campervans in general
scottishmummy wrote a post that was more than 3 lines long shock
BIWI wins prizes for succinct summaries
No one really gives a toss about Moldies, who are yesterday's news & very dull
Pag shagged daftpunk (or was shagged by her)
And everyone on MN is just lovely

Ermm, that's all, folks. Unless I've missed anything.

seeker Tue 13-Nov-12 09:44:42

MrsWembley Tue 13-Nov-12 09:53:38

HullyEastergully Tue 13-Nov-12 09:56:06

PrincessFiorimonde Tue 13-Nov-12 09:58:54

Hello Hully, you old devil.
I wish I had a campervan.
OTOH I can't drive, so would be a bit pointless.
A friend of mine has one and it has v nice curtains.

HullyEastergully Tue 13-Nov-12 10:29:40

Early morning on a deserted French campsite high in the alps with a river with white stones and mint green water and fresh croissants on order at the campsite shop...

MaryZezItsOnlyJustNovember Tue 13-Nov-12 10:30:39

And the sun coming up behind the snow-capped mountains, and filtering through leaves ....

HullyEastergully Tue 13-Nov-12 10:32:45

BeerTricksPott3r Tue 13-Nov-12 10:33:54

MaryZezItsOnlyJustNovember Tue 13-Nov-12 10:34:11

Ah, yes, but aren't you inside your warm van, peeping out between the curtains, wearing a onesie and wrapped in a slanket.

Which is of course the definition of middle-aged camping grin

HullyEastergully Tue 13-Nov-12 10:44:19

No you are by the river with hot coffee feeling the cool nip of early morning air cut through the warm coffee steam.

MaryZezItsOnlyJustNovember Tue 13-Nov-12 10:50:29

Oh, ok.

<closes eyes and takes time to smell the coffee>

ExitPursuedByABrrrrrrr Tue 13-Nov-12 11:22:07

I don't like coffee.

<spoils the mood>

I want in on some campervan action with my massive tent. There is space for 4 others who are without cmapervans, but bring your own gin though. I don't mind the cold of a campsite when its not drizzly and grey, can be quite refreshing as you nip to the toilet block and grab some bacon on the way back for a roll. Lush

SantasStrapOn Tue 13-Nov-12 12:14:14

Can we do an MN Camper Convoy? I am sorely torn between Maryz, Tufty, and Hully's campervans, and I simply can't choose.

HullyEastergully Tue 13-Nov-12 12:15:41

I don't have one <sadface>

But I will again one day

SantasStrapOn Tue 13-Nov-12 12:19:08

Sharesies?

Hully if you own a sleeping bag, you can share my tent?

HullyEastergully Tue 13-Nov-12 13:04:17

Oh that is kind.

Can we roast marshmallows and drink rum? I have a hip flask.

MotherfuckingMorrisMan Tue 13-Nov-12 13:10:21

Hully indeed. And sing camp fire songs

Thats very nice there Mother, am jealous of its tiny but yet spacious size.

HullyEastergully Tue 13-Nov-12 13:23:19

MORRIS - you sined up for meet up yet? GO PAY

TuftyFinch Tue 13-Nov-12 13:24:04

Oh, are you talking about camper vans?

HullyEastergully Tue 13-Nov-12 13:25:50

And you tifty

HullyEastergully Tue 13-Nov-12 13:26:11

I know you have FFF (in case you feel unwanted)

TuftyFinch Tue 13-Nov-12 13:26:36

How very exciting. DH is going to get it on Saturday grin

PrincessFiorimonde Tue 13-Nov-12 13:30:39

Oh, is there another meet-up? Hully, did you go to the last one?
<wistful face>

No, not feeling unwanted smile

TuftyFinch Tue 13-Nov-12 13:33:12

We can have a meet up in my camper van. At the beach.

PrincessFiorimonde Tue 13-Nov-12 13:42:44

Tufty, what a great idea.
Although the last time I was in a caravan near the beach (Winchelsea; I think not a million miles from you or Hully), it rained so much the puddles were colonised by ducks. We had to fight them off to get from said caravan to the campsite exit.

(With apologies for bracketing your lovely new campervan with caravans.)

MotherfuckingMorrisMan Tue 13-Nov-12 13:49:38

Hully! I can't find the meet up thread, I forgot what the title was so can't search for it <pathetic>

SantasStrapOn Tue 13-Nov-12 13:56:34

I like the beach. I'd live on it if I was allowed. <considers living in campervan>

MotherfuckingMorrisMan Tue 13-Nov-12 13:57:22

I miss the beach.

My nearest beach is Weston Super Bastard Mare (that's not a beach).

Or Barry Island.

TuftyFinch Tue 13-Nov-12 13:58:05

Princess I love Winchelsea, although I love Pett more. I was on the beach at Winchelsea this morning with dog. I found a nice bit of wood.

TuftyFinch Tue 13-Nov-12 13:59:50

Mother, we used to live 2 hours from the beach and I was sad. Now we live 20 minutes and I'm grin. Shall I collect you some pretty shells?

SantasStrapOn Tue 13-Nov-12 14:02:55

I'm 10 minutes from the beach, but I usually go to Wolla Bank, which is fantastic. And empty.

MotherfuckingMorrisMan Tue 13-Nov-12 14:04:56

I was thinking 'who is bloody mother' and then realised it was me grin

Please do collect me some shells.

I USED TO MOAN ABOUT ALL THE BUCKETS OF SHELLS IN MY HOUSE <weeps and wails>

What can I collect on the streets of Gloucester? Dog ends. Kebab boxes. Dead pigeons.

TuftyFinch Tue 13-Nov-12 14:06:58

Sarah empty beaches are best.
Mother pm me your address and I'll send you some pretty shells smile

PrincessFiorimonde Tue 13-Nov-12 14:16:32

Winchelsea and Pett are lovely, actually, even in the driving rain. Never been to Weston or Barry Island.

Tufty, when you get your lovely new camper, are you just going to wander where the spirit lists (or summat)?

seeker Tue 13-Nov-12 14:20:14

<parks camper at Minnis. Lights Kelly Kettle. Waits.>

seeker Tue 13-Nov-12 14:21:12

<arranges bright yellow enamel coffee pot enticingly>

MrsWembley Tue 13-Nov-12 14:42:32

Right, if there's room then I've got a family sized tent to share?

Mother, if your nearest beach is not a beach Weston, how come you're not signed up for the Bristol Christmas drinking session party?

HullyEastergully Tue 13-Nov-12 14:52:05

Oh Pett whwn the tide is out and the quicksand lethal

You found it Morris?

I did fliffy, and Paggy and gerrof and Biwi and Dolly and and

Come to this one. Dec 1. Be brave.

HullyEastergully Tue 13-Nov-12 14:52:47

LET'S HAVE A PETT meet. Seeker, you'll have to come along the coast a bit.

seeker Tue 13-Nov-12 15:08:50

<realises it's deja vu all over again. Flounces>

HullyEastergully Tue 13-Nov-12 15:09:42

No no we'll do it.

Are you coming to dec 1 one?

PrincessFiorimonde Tue 13-Nov-12 15:12:47

Dec 1?
<pretends to ponder>

HullyEastergully Tue 13-Nov-12 15:14:20

why not?

MaryZezItsOnlyJustNovember Tue 13-Nov-12 15:15:50

Did no-one invite you seeker? You can come in my campervan if you like when I buy it

MrsWembley Tue 13-Nov-12 15:15:53

I can't get to London.envy

That's why we're doing our own over 'ere. Come and see sunny Brissle!

HullyEastergully Tue 13-Nov-12 15:17:41

Brissle?

PrincessFiorimonde Tue 13-Nov-12 15:21:05

Am far too cowardly, Hully. Also lazy. And a bit broke. And going on hols on the 3rd (see previous excuse).

Hope you have a fab time, though.

MotherfuckingMorrisMan Tue 13-Nov-12 15:22:06

MrsW I did have a lok at the Brizzle meet up, but I am going to the London one and going on holiday on the 14th, I can't fit it in. I definitely would love to come on another Bristol meeting at another time as Bristol is only dahn the road.

MotherfuckingMorrisMan Tue 13-Nov-12 15:22:46

Brissle = Bristol.

With Asdals. It's gurt lush.

TuftyFinch Tue 13-Nov-12 16:00:33

Princess I'll wander freely but not too far, in reality probably just to Camber, Dungeness, Winchelsea and Pett.
I love Minnis Bay, had many a happy holiday there.
Seeker I've got a red enamel coffee pot and a Kelly Kettle smile I love my Kelly Kettle.
Please can we have a camper, sea side meet up?

HullyEastergully Tue 13-Nov-12 16:03:06

you'll have to pick me up en route <shameless>

TuftyFinch Tue 13-Nov-12 16:19:08

I can pick you up. We can be like Thelma and Louise. Without Brad Pitt.

HullyEastergully Tue 13-Nov-12 16:28:42

But with tea

TuftyFinch Tue 13-Nov-12 16:38:14

Yes with tea. And without cowboy hats.

SantasStrapOn Tue 13-Nov-12 16:45:41

Will you have guns?

<entranced>

MaryZezItsOnlyJustNovember Tue 13-Nov-12 16:50:04

I don't see the point of being Thelma and Louise without Brad Pitt confused

HullyEastergully Tue 13-Nov-12 16:50:04

I might have a catapault

LadyBeagle Tue 13-Nov-12 16:51:13

But won't you have to drive off a cliff or summit during a dramatic police chase?

HullyEastergully Tue 13-Nov-12 16:52:35

maybe we'll skip that bit.

LadyBeagle Tue 13-Nov-12 16:56:40

Well, that's not really in the spirit of things is it?
Oh, and who's Thelma and who's Louise?

TuftyFinch Tue 13-Nov-12 16:56:57

I could ring Brad Pitt. I'll bring DS's spud gun, that'll do it.

SantasStrapOn Tue 13-Nov-12 16:58:05

A catapult would be fun.

Or a crossbow?

MrsWembley Tue 13-Nov-12 18:19:32

Ah, then we'll have to sort out a summer meet-up. smile

This Christmas one will hopefully turn out brilliantly and everyone at the London one will be totally envy that they weren't there...

chipmonkey Tue 13-Nov-12 20:42:38

I want a campervan. And a Bell Tent. And a trailer tent. Depending on my mood. That's not unreasonable, surely?

chipmonkey Tue 13-Nov-12 20:43:58

Can I be Thelma's shitbag husband? Just so I can say "You git your butt back here, Thelma!" After which I will revert to being nice.

SantasStrapOn Tue 13-Nov-12 21:14:09

I had a lovely flowery Cath Kidston tent. Mort shredded it and made a nest.

RubyGates Wed 14-Nov-12 08:00:21

Hang on, did I miss a London Meet-up thread?
<emerges from smoke and ruins of blown up electricity in kitchen>

And you shall have them Chip.

<waves magic wand>

chipmonkey Thu 15-Nov-12 00:18:06

A feck it, Freddy, I should have mentioned I don't have a garage!
<<<,wanders from campervan to Bell tent in living room>>>>>

spookysal Thu 15-Nov-12 01:08:52

Cod asked for it to be deleted, quite angrily, on a tweet to MN. It's no secret. Something about it still being around hours after she reported it despite it breaking forum rules as it directly insulted her.

I didn't see the thread.

I was on Twigs thread when she came back to inform us how unintelligent and uncouth we all were for not missing her. It was just a typical flouncers thread .. until Justine popped up and then the proverbial hit the fan for a couple of months and MN literally exploded. There were people taking sides and people flouncing all over the place. We lost a lot of good posters (Come back MrsBadger, S&B isn't the same!) But it felt a bit like a much needed mass cull where MN royalty had become top heavy and needed trimming, and as they left (and most of their daft etiquette rules went with them) new posters were able to blossom.

Although some of the old guard still rule (see first paragraph) ;)

BIWI Thu 15-Nov-12 07:34:35

The reason Cod was angry was nothing to do with the Moldies thread. It was another thread where she was outed in her current username. Which was all my fault.

destinationzero Thu 15-Nov-12 07:54:29

The moldies drama was exciting at the time but 5 years on it's all a bit meh -
I agree with the poster up thread however, who said it was a timely reminder to not get too involved with people on the net, this is not real life.
Log in, have a chat, laugh, moan, rant, be supportive, then log off & forget it all. Keep your distance & anonyminity.

BIWI Thu 15-Nov-12 07:57:50

The two are not mutually exclusive - it's perfectly possible to meet people/make friends here (and elsewhere online), but we should all be careful and not automatically assume everyone is 'nice' or honest.

LtEveDallas Thu 15-Nov-12 10:08:19

spookysal, thats a bit stirring isn't it? I saw Cod's tweet and AFAIK it wasn't anything to do with the Mouldie thread. What's with the 'old guard' comment?

LtEveDallas Thu 15-Nov-12 10:09:29

Ahh, hadn't refreshed. Sorry, BIWI has already explained (But I stand by my stirring comment). There really is No Need.

You only get three wishes though, Chip...

Perhaps you could fashion some class of a lean- to.

spookysal Thu 15-Nov-12 10:39:57

Meh.

Only stirring (in your opinion) because I mentioned Cod probably. How dare I?

Same old, Same old ... Yawn.

SpringHeeledJack Thu 15-Nov-12 10:49:17

I saw tweet

nowt to do with being insulting...she didn't want to be outed, which was fair enough

LtEveDallas Thu 15-Nov-12 11:00:23

No spooky, stirring because you stated that the Mouldie thread had been deleted because of cod, because the thread insulted her (which it didn't) - which it hadn't.

I would say the same if you had said the thread had been deleted because BIWI wanted it, or MaryZ, or Hully or Helen01020304.

Stirring because that isn't what happened, but for some reason you want people to believe it was.

scottishmummy Thu 15-Nov-12 22:57:28

astonished this still apparently causes so much angst, and histrionics
no biggie at time, and gets even less so with every retelling and humphy facehmm
that said was good the big egos flounced off,mn better now its bigger and less cliquey

southeastastra Thu 15-Nov-12 23:01:22

Mintyy Thu 15-Nov-12 23:04:42

usualsuspect3 Thu 15-Nov-12 23:06:17

southeastastra Thu 15-Nov-12 23:11:48

LDNmummy Fri 16-Nov-12 00:27:29
