That's right; a thread being vile about a WOMAN

WTF was that all about? For anyone who hasn't seen

Why was she standing with her leg about 5ft away from the rest of her body? She looked awkward and weird and her leg looked like a chicken leg whereas mine are wonderful, obviously.

AIBU to think that Angelina's Oscar Leg was a bit ridiculous?

porcamiseria Mon 27-Feb-12 11:04:52

yanbu, I dont ususlaly like vast scale bitching, but there is a limit with husband stealing child stealing flangie

WorraLiberty Mon 27-Feb-12 11:04:52

Lol it does look a bit odd but it makes sense if she wants to show off the split.

She looks beautiful though, as do Gwyneth and Cameron.

porcamiseria Mon 27-Feb-12 11:05:16

Gwyniee on the other hand. top marks!

BupcakesandCunting Mon 27-Feb-12 11:05:48

Gwyneth looked lovely and so did Natalie Portman, the cows!

MissTapestry Mon 27-Feb-12 11:07:14

Distracted us all nicely from her bump though didn't it! wink

TisPityShesAWhore Mon 27-Feb-12 11:09:01

i don't think she's so hot. she always looks a bit plastic pouty and Brad has a very Weak Chin.

MrsCampbellBlack Mon 27-Feb-12 11:09:19

I just can't bear Angelina - so contrived - yes of course we all believe your besties with brad's parents hmm

And agree Gwynnie looked fab.

TisPityShesAWhore Mon 27-Feb-12 11:09:37

and she must have been doing a grand plie to get her legs at that angle. weird.

mopbucket Mon 27-Feb-12 11:09:42

Brad looks like a tramp in a suit

Kennyp Mon 27-Feb-12 11:10:33

Maybe she has crabs or some other bearded clam issue and she had to walk the whole way down the red carpet like that?

Would love to give brads hair a cut.

NotYetEverything Mon 27-Feb-12 11:10:35

I wondered if she had a bad case of thrush and needed to get some air to her undercarriage smile

BupcakesandCunting Mon 27-Feb-12 11:12:28

Brad looked revolting. He seems to be morphing into Nick Nolte.

I liked the one from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

She manages to pull off a hairdo that I would never be able to in a million years.

SarahStratton Mon 27-Feb-12 11:12:42

She just wanted to flash that bony ol' knee hmm

MinnieBar Mon 27-Feb-12 11:15:03

Wearing a thigh-split dress - fine, it's the Oscars, you need something to stand out.

Poking exposed leg out all the bloomin time, especially coupled with pausing to re-pose and expose it more, and thus holding everything up when you're meant to be giving an award - silly and attention-seeking.

Apparently the leg has its own Twitter account now.

Avantia Mon 27-Feb-12 11:15:08

Perhaps she was about to fart break wind.

She has one ugly leg. If I had a leg like that, I'd keep it firmly under wraps. It's all lumpy and veiny.

It's a leg for jeans.

UserNameNotAvailable Mon 27-Feb-12 11:16:10

There was an interview with her dad (on Lorraine) at the oscars and he mentioned that she stood like that until the audience "got it" a whatever "it" was. I couldnt hear as kids were screaming.

Adversecamber Mon 27-Feb-12 11:16:30

Chicken leg? more like a sparrows, not enough meat.

GhastlyBespoke Mon 27-Feb-12 11:16:49

Weird weird leg pose thingy. articulate

I can't put my finger on why she comes over as extremely calculating. Could just be me though.

Cameron Diaz looks beautiful.

BupcakesandCunting Mon 27-Feb-12 11:16:53

The bit where she stood at the lectern to present an award was painful. Adjusting the dress then pausing to give everyone "full effect" was just CRINGEY.

I think Angelina Jolie's Right Leg should have won Best Supporting Actress at the 84th annual Artist awards.

there's something weird going on with her/his fingers in that photo - it looks like it's almost not her hand, and there are some small child fingers sticking up at the back.

ShatnersBassoon Mon 27-Feb-12 11:18:54

It's a prosthetic third leg, rigged with ropes and pulleys. Why else did Brad take his mum, if not to operate the leg mechanism from afar?

MrsMumf Mon 27-Feb-12 11:19:18

I thought you were BU from the little I had seen on the tv...but those photos are so, so odd. YADNBU.

PattiMayor Mon 27-Feb-12 11:20:47

I think that's someone standing behind her clutching a bag grin

PattiMayor Mon 27-Feb-12 11:21:18

I mean the child's fingers, not The Leg

UserNameNotAvailable Mon 27-Feb-12 11:23:03

Just clicked the link and I see she Posed like this down the red carpet as well as on stage presenting an award. Looks to me like she's trying to get her wild sex symbol image back you know the angelina who had sex in the car on the way to the oscars then drape herself all over billy bob Thornton on the red carpet

headfairy Mon 27-Feb-12 11:23:53

she's been going to the Liz Hurley school of posing for the paps. Lovely hair and make up though.

LadyClariceCannockMonty Mon 27-Feb-12 11:24:26

Yep, just engineered to show off the leg. Perhaps the designer insisted that she do it to show off the split as well.

porcamiseria, when she and Brad got together, according to most reports he was still married to Jennifer A. Angelina may be morally questionable for going out with a married man, but he's the one who's a lying scumbag who cheated on his wife. I know who I think is the more despicable in this scenario.

Sorry, I know that sounds po-faced, but I get so sick of the 'husband-stealing'/'marriage-wrecking' etc criticisms that get blithely flung at Angelina while no one says a thing about Brad. It's misogyny and it makes me angry.

BearlyThere Mon 27-Feb-12 11:24:57

it has its own twitter account

Clytaemnestra Mon 27-Feb-12 11:25:17

I love Angelina Jolie, but she should have left the invisible pony she was riding at home.

BearlyThere Mon 27-Feb-12 11:25:28

she IS pregnant isnt she?

Lueji Mon 27-Feb-12 11:26:27

How was she going to show her leg, otherwise?

Still, I think her leg is too skinny. Mine are like that, BTW, just not as long. :-)

I actually wonder about the amount of hair gel/hair spray that Brad had on that hair. Blewgh. It couldn't possibly have stayed put without. I like natural men's hair and to be able to get my fingers through it.

On the what was she thinking side, though, what do you think of Sandra Bullock's dress? So drab and ill fitting. hmm

sue52 Mon 27-Feb-12 11:26:47

A subtle glimpse of leg would have been glamorous but that looked contrived and amateur. She has been around long enough to know better.

noblegiraffe Mon 27-Feb-12 11:27:07

Does she not normally get her legs out? It's so contrived that she must be trying to make some sort of point but with her latest film about Bosnia you'd have thought she'd be a bit beyond flashing a bit of leg for attention. All a bit weird.

My god they both look so HAGGARD. Blimey.

PattiMayor Mon 27-Feb-12 11:28:00

Agree LadyClarice

SearchSquad Mon 27-Feb-12 11:28:15

Yes yes Avantia, she was definitely breaking wind all the way to the podium. Brad's weary expression says it all.

Ohhh, I am not normally a Gwynnie fan but she does look amazing! Love Cameron too, and both of them have managed to look really honestly happy too which is quite rare in those pics.

Agree about the scrawny leg, it looks awful, though maybe she didn't realise the effect of the different angles, the shot that is from the front looks (somewhat) better and I think it's a classic sort of pose so maybe that's what she was aiming for but didn't think of the effect of the side shots?

J-Lo's dress is amazing, though I think that style would work even better on someone slightly less curvy, it's very art deco style and I'm sure boyish figures with minimal boobs/bum were the fashion then so that would suit the dress better perhaps. Still lovely though.

I like Jessica Chastain's too, and Natalie P looks fab, she's really "making" the dress rather than the other way round!

messymammy Mon 27-Feb-12 11:28:34

Weird leg action there alright. confused

did everyone see penelope Cruz? She is so beautiful, and the dress was stunning. Really old school grace Kelly glamour.

WannaBeWildCosMyLifesSoTame Mon 27-Feb-12 11:28:56

I thought that, if she was standing in that position without that dress on (ie wearing something different, not naked - although I suppose that would also work to illustrate my point) she would look extremely odd and unladylike. It just shouts desperate attention seeker but then that's the Oscars all over isn't it.

TheSmallClanger Mon 27-Feb-12 11:29:59

On one of the photos she does seem to be standing normally, it's just that dress has all the detail on one side and makes her look lopsided.
Each to her own, but I didn't think it was a nice dress at all - far too heavy and a bit curtain-y. They didn't say who designed it either.

Can I just say that in every red carpet picture I've seen, Viola Davis looks wonderful? She either has a great sympathetic stylist, or she is a fashion queen.

She looks ridiculous.
Put it away love.

sonicrainboom Mon 27-Feb-12 11:30:52

Looking at the pictures I feel sorry for all the female slebs who appear to think they have to wear uncomfortable, and often ridiculous, hard to walk in clothing while the male slebs fade into the background with their comfy shoes and identical full coverage suits.

BupcakesandCunting Mon 27-Feb-12 11:31:27

It was a lovely dress: she just ruined it by posing like she's fanny-farting all the way up the red carpet.

Michelle Williams also looked amazing. envy

ZacharyQuack Mon 27-Feb-12 11:31:48

Angelina is looking a bit too desperate for attention.

It's nice to see that Gwyneth has found a solution to hide those pesky flabby upper arms.

SearchSquad Mon 27-Feb-12 11:32:35

I loved the dress Stacy Keibler (who is she?) is wearing. Definitely the winner. That and Gwen's.

Kellamity Mon 27-Feb-12 11:32:38

messy I was just coming on to write how elegant I thought Penelope Cruz looked.

headfairy Mon 27-Feb-12 11:33:51

Maybe Ange just had really sweaty nether regions and needed to let the breeze get to it. I've definitely been there, all dolled up at some fancy do on a hot summer's evening. Feeling defintely damp and desperate to get some air moving down there.

Love Gwyneth's outfit, though it pains me to say so as I find the woman wearing it so frustrating.

legallyblond Mon 27-Feb-12 11:36:16

Ha! She looks crazed... and i suspect she is wink.

Just to say... I lurrve Cameron Diaz's figure in OP's link... she looks so fit and healthy and not sticketty stick!

And yes, GP looks great!

MrsHeffley Mon 27-Feb-12 11:39:18

Agree, nice to see she's got twin mum knees(I have those too albeit the plumped out version),things happen to knees after carrying twins Angie.

OrkaLiely Mon 27-Feb-12 11:40:58

Stacy Keibler is a former wrestler (honestly!) and George Clooney's latest beard (allegedly).

PastGrace Mon 27-Feb-12 11:43:45

Why does she appear to be gripping everyone's arms to stand upright? Did The Leg throw her centre of gravity off? She's always been good in heels, even when pregnant...

PurpleRomanesco Mon 27-Feb-12 11:46:53

Jealous Caahhhs.

<sticks leg out>

QuinnFabray Mon 27-Feb-12 11:47:01

Penelope Cruz looks like she is standing next to Tom Cruise again.

LadyClarissaArseQuack Mon 27-Feb-12 11:48:43

They live in a different world don't they ? Some of them obviously don't have any genuine female friends. It must be awful and hideous to just have to "be" an image.

buttonmoon78 Mon 27-Feb-12 11:52:33

Can't get my leg into that position - I've just tried in the mirror!

I just can't like her. I know I'm basing that on media presentation, but I just can't. The captured 'intimate look' shared between them looks nothing more than blankness on her part. And if you look at the photo of her with her in laws, the tension in her arms and the dominating hand hold makes me wince. There's no doubt in my mind who runs the household.

buttonmoon78 Mon 27-Feb-12 11:54:03

And I echo headfairy's thoughts about Gwynnie!

NowThenWreck Mon 27-Feb-12 11:55:21

Orka! George is not Gay! How very dare you!

I think all the women in these pictures look like (as my late father would say) a good meal would kill'em.

BupcakesandCunting Mon 27-Feb-12 11:57:45

I don't think that Brad's mum Jane really likes Angelina. When they were being interviewed on the red carpet, an interviewer asked her how proud she was of her daughter-in-law. You could see a momentary eclipse of the face where it looked like she was thinking "SHE is not my DIL! Jennifer is!" Then she just went "The ultimate!" WTF?!

Hark at me talking like I know Brad's mum blush

headfairy Mon 27-Feb-12 11:59:19

I think when someone gets it really wrong it's just a case of there being only a limited number of Oscar acceptible frocks on a rail, and for whatever reason sometimes some of them just don't get there on time to bag the good ones. Gwynnie was obviously front of the queue (she would be wouldn't she?) Natalie Portman was second in line (she looks utterly lovely) and I think Missi Pyle (who?) was obviously stuck in traffic or something... got the odd mishmash of a dress in a horrible colour that was left behind.

SuddenlyAtHome Mon 27-Feb-12 12:00:51

God, she's so BORING. Black dress, zzz, red lipstick, zzz. I would love to see her wearing something interesting for once. She/her stylist doesn't understand her body, very very thin does not automatically = great body to show off, she would look much better more covered up, her figure is very elegant rather than sexy and that's what she should play to.

Everyone else looks very dull too, it's the Oscars fgs! Dress up a bit! I think Milla Jovovitch, Glenn Close, Natalie Portman and Meryl Streep are the only people apart from Gwyneth and Cameron who understood that it's a night for making a BIG effort.

I normally love Penelope Cruz but that colour is doing nowt for her.

SuddenlyAtHome Mon 27-Feb-12 12:02:01

urgh, I meant to put "sexy" not sexy, it's in the eye of the beholder etc.

CharlotteBronteSaurus Mon 27-Feb-12 12:02:23

ange look weird. the lippy/big white teeth combo when she smiled was scary
gwynnie looked spectacular
also liked Kristen Wiig, Meryl Streep, Cameron Diaz and Octavia whatsit
the rest were a bit meh

UtherTheTerrible Mon 27-Feb-12 12:03:44

The smile she gave Brad when they were announcing the nominees for Best Actor was terrifying, I wish I could find a video of it.

TobyLerone Mon 27-Feb-12 12:06:28

I reckon she's preggers.

Weirder still is the way that miserable, gopping old handbag, Posh Spice, insists on standing. She's always on a tilt, and in the pic of the Beckhams with Tom and his beard Katie, poor old Dave has ended up looking like some kind of photobomber due to his wife's insistence that she needs to keep her hand on her hip in order to avoid the dreaded Ham Arm™.

headfairy Mon 27-Feb-12 12:08:16

God, Posh looks so tired! Get some sleep woman! I think she never used to smile because she had shit teeth, she's got them sorted but old habits die hard I won't have a word said against her

headfairy Mon 27-Feb-12 12:09:53

Jennifer Lopez looks amazing, she's about 5 years older than Posh and she's got twins! Posh is definitely burning the midnight oil too much.

Canella Mon 27-Feb-12 12:10:05

Love this thread - was really troubled when I watched the red carpet stuff by her third leg. Was all very strange & must definitely have had hidden controls.
GP was my joint fave with Penelope Cruz. Liked Michelle Williams until she turned round - why wasnt the back the same colour?? Meryl Streep (as lovely as she seems) had a horrible dress on.
And whats with the fashion of boobs squashed into dresses - makes them look as if the dress is too small.

BupcakesandCunting Mon 27-Feb-12 12:10:56

The more wrinkles David Beckham gets, the more I feel like I'd hop on him.

sonicrainboom Mon 27-Feb-12 12:16:04

What would happen if a sleb lady showed up wearing non-garish covering comfortable clothing - low heels, non-tight dress or , omg, pants
Would there be a public outcry?

IainDuncanShit Mon 27-Feb-12 12:18:15

grin at David Beckham looking like a photo-bomber. He's leaning in and grinning as if to say, "I'm with celebrities and Posh Spice, me!" She's totally ignoring him.

NormanTebbit Mon 27-Feb-12 12:21:58

Really do not like Angie's dress. She seems to be fighting with it. It's far too heavy and not at all elegant.

Gwynnie looked amazing. So did George Clooney's beard girlfriend

NormanTebbit Mon 27-Feb-12 12:23:43

And I know what you mean about David Beckham, he's more attractive as he gets older, but his voice it just ruins it all

Mrsjay Mon 27-Feb-12 12:28:17

I hid behind a cushion when they showed it a few times on tv this morning it was an EEEK cringey moment she looked stupid yes you have a leg ange well done dear hmm

NowThenWreck Mon 27-Feb-12 12:28:25

Yeah, you'd have to gag him Noramn, Obvs.
<struggles to remain composure>

No-one slag off Posh-she is bloody tired, shes got four kids, and one of 'ems a newborn! I think she looks great akchwally.

BupcakesandCunting Mon 27-Feb-12 12:31:46

I love Victoria. I reckon she is a behind-the-scenes funster. I do. <nods>

GhastlyBespoke Mon 27-Feb-12 12:31:59

Paula - brilliant grin

NormanTebbit Mon 27-Feb-12 12:32:49

Paula I have just choked on my cheese sarnie

LeBOF Mon 27-Feb-12 12:33:24

Glenn Close looked like a dog's dinner, as she tends to at the Oscars. Michelle Williams chose a dreadful dress, in my opinion- hideous from the back, and with a horrid apronish frill at the front which looks like a market trader's money belt. I like Natalie Portman's vintage polka dot dress- unusual without being too try-hard. The best frock for me, I think, was Ellie Kemper's- she looked absolutely stunning.

GhastlyBespoke Mon 27-Feb-12 12:33:55

Do you Bups? Do you really?

UserNameNotAvailable Mon 27-Feb-12 12:35:04

Pmsl paula

Canella Mon 27-Feb-12 12:35:47

I normally stick up for Posh - I agree she looks like she'd be really fun but she needs to either not go out & catch up on sleep or go out & stop this pouting/not smiling thing. She looks really sad/? depressed in the photos in the last few weeks. Its a hard situation to be in - she wants to maintain her profile by being in the limelight but maybe she needs to take some time off. Really hope she has a friend to say this to her.

LeBOF Mon 27-Feb-12 12:37:57

I would not be a funster if I ate two peas and a prawn for lunch. I just don't think it's possible. She looks like she has a permanent low-blood sugar headache.

kaluki Mon 27-Feb-12 12:38:10

Angelina Jolie always looks a bit dirty and trashy to me, no matter how much she tarts up. Maybe its the nasty manly tattoos.
I really dislike Gwynnie too but have to concede, she stole the show, that dress is lovely.

NowThenWreck Mon 27-Feb-12 12:40:23

What I love about Posh is that she pulled this really amazingly good looking premiership footballer, kept him,and you just know she has him by the golden balls.
Also, he looks like he likes it that way.

BupcakesandCunting Mon 27-Feb-12 12:42:17

I do. I've head she has a really good sense of humour. She just doesn't smile because she hates her teeth. Which makes me warm to her even more. Despite all of the stick she gets for looking like a lemon-lipped grumpface she sticks to her guns and remains unsmiling. Her insecurity over-rides her need to be liked. Poor Victoria. sad

TheSmallClanger Mon 27-Feb-12 12:43:34

Victoria Beckham looked like she just wanted to go home. She makes me uncomfortable because she always looks quite sad and lonely on photos. Obviously I don't know what she's really like.

That picture with JLo and Steven Tyler is fab. I want to know what they were chatting about, as it looks amusing.

Was the lovely Ryan Gosling photographed at all?

squeaver Mon 27-Feb-12 12:43:46

What's happened is that she's chosen the dress, it's probably had to be mega-adjusted to fit the bag of bones that she is. So she had to wear it, then realised that she looks like a a 14 year old goth on the way to her bedroom for a good moping session. Then someone's said, "It's got a split, stick your leg out, that'll get you some attention". And the great global ambassador for human rights, with the world's handsomest man as her life-partner and the world's best mother, does as she's told to get herself a few inches of press coverage.

She's well-adjusted, isn't she?

FreudianSlipper Mon 27-Feb-12 12:45:16

i think she looks amazing, such a foxy lady and interesting too, she never looks like she has tried too hard. bit of an odd way to stand maybe she is hiding something or has a bad back

Milla Jovovich, Cameron Diaz and Penelope Cruz look great too

glad to see Am I a Man or a Muppet won best song smile

squeaver Mon 27-Feb-12 12:45:21

Also, you know her and Brad are good mates with Assad and his wife, don't you?

That's right, the dictator who's killing his own people by the thousand.

Not had much to say on THAT thorny little issue, have you Ange?

GreenEyesAndHam Mon 27-Feb-12 12:46:25

I was pissing mysen this morning watching The Leg on Daybreak grin

I keep hearing it was a joke, but I don't know what the joke was!!

NotYetEverything Mon 27-Feb-12 12:46:35

Tried and failed to hide my snort of laughter at that photo. blush grin

cees Mon 27-Feb-12 12:51:54

Oh she looks hideous, put your manky, stick legs away or put a bit of fat on them and then pose weirdly for all the world to see. Why does looking like a 12 year old child appeal to most of these Hollywood women thankfully not all of them but an awful lot shed pounds they can't afford to lose if you ask me.

AgathaFusty Mon 27-Feb-12 12:52:32

I think Brad Pitt has a bit of a look of Ricky Gervais about him lately. Victoria B - could go with the no-smile routine, but what's with her insistance on the weird pose, especially when it makes any photos of her with anyone else look so awkward. Gwyneth needs to ditch the smug look. I know she is but she doesn't need to play to it.

Clytaemnestra Mon 27-Feb-12 12:58:42

Squeaver - she's actually called for intervention in Syria and said what is happening is an atrocity (I just googled it)

PosiePumblechook Mon 27-Feb-12 12:59:51

E! News host Giuliana Rancic looks like she could do with a meal or ten.

PosiePumblechook Mon 27-Feb-12 13:02:40

However Angelina got Brad is old news, he seems to have come out of the whole thing less evil than her. He married Jen, not Angelina, and yet she gets loads of shit for it. She's beautiful and seems to have a conscience, I expect she's alright in real life. And she can act. She also disowned her father for something credible, can't remember what.

Her leg looks odd and her beauty is enhanced but I think, as much as I hate to say it, that she's okay.

Clytaemnestra Mon 27-Feb-12 13:03:19

Giuliana Rancic has just recovered from cancer and a double masectomy plus reconstructive surgery, so probably should be excused looking a little peaky.

BupcakesandCunting Mon 27-Feb-12 13:03:46

I agree, Posie. Brad is the shit of the piece, not Angelina. I will NEVER forgive him for what he did to Jen. NEVER. <mastergrudgeholder>

NowThenWreck Mon 27-Feb-12 13:04:29

Angelina Jolie frightens me.She really does.
She is like a re-animation of someone who has been dead a long time.
One day she will unhinge her jaw and just swallow Brad Pitt's mother whole, after which she will dab her inflatable lips delicately with a lace hanky, and her eyes will momentarily glow amber.

Sockspence Mon 27-Feb-12 13:06:49

Cameron Diaz appears to have been dressed by Per Una Speziale.

BupcakesandCunting Mon 27-Feb-12 13:06:51

MinnieBar Mon 27-Feb-12 13:06:52

Katie Holmes's dress looks inches away from her body in that second pic. Me no likee.

Probably should have done that myself, Clytae, before I got on my high horse.

Saltire Mon 27-Feb-12 13:10:57

Katie holmes looks like a 14 year old lassie at a school disco, And Steve Tyler looks like her granny!
grin

PosiePumblechook Mon 27-Feb-12 13:11:37

Yes....blush she does have a good excuse for looking peaky.... I had no idea.

Sockspence Mon 27-Feb-12 13:12:20

I am developing a socking great girlcrush on Michelle Williams. Wonder if I could get away with that barnet? I suspect I'd look like the chubby boy in year 7..

noddyholder Mon 27-Feb-12 13:13:24

I think angelina is stunning but Brad looks like a farm hand with half a brain he should be chewing straw and wearing dungarees What do women see in him???

NormanTebbit Mon 27-Feb-12 13:13:58

I would love a Per Una Speziale themed Oscars grin

NormanTebbit Mon 27-Feb-12 13:15:00

Chewing straw and wearing dungarees does it for a lot of women...

FreudianSlipper Mon 27-Feb-12 13:24:29

i agree i think it is unfair that angelina is bitched about when it is brad that cheated but it is the other women that always gets the blame

jen is so dull and boring i dout she had to work at tempting him away (and from what i have heard she was not the first)

miow miow miow

NowThenWreck Mon 27-Feb-12 13:25:45

Mmm. Dungarees. Norman, you seem to have an alarming insight into all of my fetishes..

Ouchywawa Mon 27-Feb-12 13:31:17

There is a clip here of the award recipients paying "tribute" to Angelina's pose. And what was with her "Good Evening...mwahahaha"?! Odd.

giveitago Mon 27-Feb-12 13:39:53

Gonna be a bitch here and say that aj is the picture of underweight beauty that so many people aspire to. I'm sure she's a great lady but I just don't get her - neither do I get any of these stars as I don't watch enough tv or films.

But she clearly wanted to show of that leg and so good on her.

Psammead Mon 27-Feb-12 13:51:16

<whispers> I think Angelina looked nice...

<loudly> J-Lo, though - what was she thinking?

BupcakesandCunting Mon 27-Feb-12 13:53:43

I've never understood the Brad Pitt sttraction. He looks like he would smell faintly of stale piss.

PosiePumblechook Mon 27-Feb-12 14:00:44

I have only given Brad a second glance during the fight scene in Snatch 1.10 to be precise And in his pants when the caravan burns....

noddyholder Mon 27-Feb-12 14:01:39
NowThenWreck Mon 27-Feb-12 14:03:06

I've heard that about him Bupcakes. grin

BupcakesandCunting Mon 27-Feb-12 14:04:29

Oh I've JUST worked out, after all these years of thinking that Brad Pitt looks like he smells of stale piss, why I think he smells of stale piss.

He looks JUST like Wayne Hadjiouani from my year in primary school. Who always smelled faintly of stale piss. <weight of shoulder>

TobyLerone Mon 27-Feb-12 14:06:23

Brad was delish in Fight Club.

And I like him and Ange together. Bollocks to Jennifer Aniston.

giveitago Mon 27-Feb-12 14:08:43

Jo- looked female.

cocolepew Mon 27-Feb-12 14:10:36

Are you mad! the man is a god

MaMattoo Mon 27-Feb-12 14:11:45

Awkward yes, best to show off the dress and it's cut-yes. Smart enough to 'wow the crowd and get centre stage' oh yes.
Might not like her - but she is smart.

LadyClariceCannockMonty Mon 27-Feb-12 14:12:08

NowThen, George is gay. <gavel>
buttonmoon, is it a problem if Ange does run the household?

cocolepew Mon 27-Feb-12 14:12:26

x-post! Brad has a lovely way of moving <perv>

Loved Jen as Rachel, but she seems a bit needy.

MardyBra Mon 27-Feb-12 14:14:26

Not read the whole thread, so sorry if I'm repeating, but maybe it's a 3rd leg and she's really Jake the Peg.

MardyBra Mon 27-Feb-12 14:15:34

And has anyone noticed that George Clooney's squeeze has a 3rd ear growing out of her neck.

cocolepew Mon 27-Feb-12 14:18:34

Do you think Georges 'girlfriends' get paid, or go with him for the publicity and the fact that he's very easy on the eye?

NowThenWreck Mon 27-Feb-12 14:18:46

But...George!
But, how do you know?
I dont exactly fancy him, it's more that I would like to know that there is a prime example of hetero manliness in showbiz, and I thought that was him!
Evidence please Lady Clarice!

buttonmoon78 Mon 27-Feb-12 14:18:57

Not at all LadyClarice. Strong women in charge is no problem. Scary women like Ange is.

I'd feel the same if it was a scary man. Just can't think of an example immediately.

fabwoman Mon 27-Feb-12 14:19:18

I really don't like AJ but even if I did she does not look good in that dress. It would have been better if she had tights on and was showing less leg.

LadyClariceCannockMonty Mon 27-Feb-12 14:21:27

Just checking, buttonmoon smile (and have realised my post sounded arsier than I meant it to: sorry.)

NowThen, Google 'George Clooney gay' or 'George Clooney + Waldo'.

BupcakesandCunting Mon 27-Feb-12 14:23:33

Apparently, it is a well-known "secret" in Hollywood circles that George is gay but he is no nice that no-one will out him to the press. Even the press know, but again, he is so nice that they refuse to run anything on it.

I don't care either way but if he IS, I wish he would just come out. I don't understand in this day and age why he is hiding his sexuality. Surely no-one gives a crap about that stuff any more?

MrsCampbellBlack Mon 27-Feb-12 14:24:54

I suspect a lot of middle-america do bupcakes unfortunately and then just wouldn't buy him as a straight male lead.

Does anyone else remember him when he was in Roseanne years ago - lordy, he was gorgeous.

TobyLerone Mon 27-Feb-12 14:26:19

Oh, they do care. Look at the roles Rupert Everett gets.

BupcakesandCunting Mon 27-Feb-12 14:27:14

Rupert Everett hubba hubba <drools>

SpringHeeledJack Mon 27-Feb-12 14:27:58

I love Angelina. I reckon she really does give a shit, although she really doesn't need to

and yes, stop being vile about WOMEN

that said Gwynnie is a stepford robot and Jen looks like you could roll a marble down one of her ears and it would pop out in the other

verityverbiage Mon 27-Feb-12 14:31:30

Jolie is pretty and does it matter if Clooney is gay?

Heyyyho Mon 27-Feb-12 14:32:31

OMG Penelope Cruz has had a nose job!!

It was the thing that make her so not Hollywood - silly Woman

NowThenWreck Mon 27-Feb-12 14:35:16

No. I don't beleive it, and I'll tell you for why:
I think that it can be really hard for people to believe that a really nice and studly gentleman like George can possibly be straight, so they reckon he is a gay, because straight men like him don't exist.
It's sooo easy for people to post rumours on the internet and they become "true".
He is straight, but should maybe think about going out with a woman his own age 68

giveitago Mon 27-Feb-12 14:36:19

She's a pretty woman in that whole are you really a woman sort of way.
She reminds me of a modern day paula yates ie that big earth mother and big sex symbol thing at the same time.

I know women who have such multicural families who live normal lives and do a great job in their (less than sexy field).

She just doesn't do it for me. And brad pitt is nothing like hansome to me. He's horribly twee looking.

EAch to their own and I don't think anything they do is very different, interesting etc. .

MardyBra Mon 27-Feb-12 14:36:48

I can't imagine holding hands like that with my in-laws. They would be hmm and wonder whether I'd been at the wine.

AbsofCroissant Mon 27-Feb-12 14:40:34

I nattered about the whole George Clooney thing with colleagues before, and they were all "hell no, he's not". One of them is very good friends with a reporter/interviewer from a big network (won't say here in case I inadvertently out myself) but basically, friend confirmed, that yes, George is indeed gay.

So there.

I just want to know how you apply for the job as "George's special lady friend", as it seems like you get to:
- hang out with George, and he seems fun
- get designer clothing.
It's pretty much my dream job

hides engagement ring

BupcakesandCunting Mon 27-Feb-12 14:40:55

You keep telling yourself that, NowThenWreck! wink grin

GreenEyesAndHam Mon 27-Feb-12 14:45:29

Glenn Close looks amayyyyyy-zing

AbsofCroissant Mon 27-Feb-12 14:47:19

YES. Glenn Close - amazeballs.

I had a whole thread on S&B to discuss dresses and no one joined me

<takes out world's smallest violin>

LikeAnAdventCandleButNotQuite Mon 27-Feb-12 14:48:17

Dress of the night has to go to Sandra Bullock - stunning!

TobyLerone Mon 27-Feb-12 14:50:04

I thought Miley Cyrus looked lovely, actually.

<kills self>

AbsofCroissant Mon 27-Feb-12 14:53:09

I don't know, I think it's a bit old on her. But MEGA improvement. She looks like she's washed!

AbsofCroissant Mon 27-Feb-12 14:55:07

Though Kate Beckinsale - please eat something. Tah.

Diane Kruger looks like she forgot to get boob tape and thought "wait! I have a bra that matches, wicked, I'll wear that. ^no one will notice^".

HoneyBadgerDontCare Mon 27-Feb-12 14:57:19

I think AJs kids dared her to do a silly pose, I mean come on, there must be a bet involved or vast quantities of booze

Psammead Mon 27-Feb-12 14:57:26

I liked Jessica Chastain's dress the best. The black dress with gold bits.

Glenn Close looked rather elegant.

Natalie Portman looked sweet.

FruitShootsAndHeaves Mon 27-Feb-12 15:06:22

Think I'd be a bit miffed if I dressed up for the Oscars and was labelled in the paper as 'Kenneth Branagh and guest'
find out her name you lazy feckers!
unless her name really is 'Guest'

TobyLerone Mon 27-Feb-12 15:10:03

Yes, I thought that, too. Also, Kenneth Branagh looked fit last night. I have never thought that before. Am I getting old or has he got more attractive?

squeaver Mon 27-Feb-12 15:12:54

You're right Toby. Branagh is now a stone-cold Silver Fox.

squeaver Mon 27-Feb-12 15:13:59

God, how many times has the Clooney-is-gay/No-way-I-won't-have-it/Oh-yes-he-is thing been done on MN???

squeaver Mon 27-Feb-12 15:15:26

What I'd like to do is get Lisa Snowdon rip-roaringly drunk and quiz her. I bet she'd blab.

LadyClariceCannockMonty Mon 27-Feb-12 15:16:06

I fancy Kenneth B a bit too. He was ace in My Week With Marilyn.

<joins old-gimmer Ken-fancying support group>

AbsofCroissant Mon 27-Feb-12 15:21:30

squeaver, I feel it will go on forever. Even if he did come out, so many would be in denial that this thing will be playing out forever and ever.

slug Mon 27-Feb-12 15:49:51

I'm of the opinion that Ange decided it would be an appropriate moment to get an intimate piercing and it was still in the chafing/sore stage.

LadyClariceCannockMonty Mon 27-Feb-12 16:04:44

Or perhaps just a mildly disastrous Brazilian?

AbsofCroissant Mon 27-Feb-12 16:09:17

Or (I had this yesterday and can sympathise) she had a semi wedgy - it's the Oscars, you can't reach down and pull your knickers out, so she thought "okay, I'll just pretend to be seductively sticking my legs out, and then they'll just lodge themselves in my butt and I can deal with it when I can get to the ladies".

Sadly, this was not the better option. When she stopped doing it is when they pinged in.

roundtable Mon 27-Feb-12 16:12:38

Why can't I see the Beckham's in that link?

It's been one of those days today.

roundtable Mon 27-Feb-12 16:19:55

Ignore me, I found it.

I'm off again, I was hoping for some mn time but the herbert is not a happy one today and is grizzling again.

Reassure me this stage will pass, I'm so tired!

BupcakesandCunting Mon 27-Feb-12 16:21:14

"God, how many times has the Clooney-is-gay/No-way-I-won't-have-it/Oh-yes-he-is thing been done on MN???"

Oooh, hark at the MN Oracle!

For Squeaver

BenderBendingRodriguez Mon 27-Feb-12 16:23:48

Gwyneth Paltrow looks a bit Flash Gordon for my liking.

I loved Natalie Portman's dress, which makes a change.

Not feeling Cameron Diaz's dress, it's like a couture skirt tagged onto a tube dress from the market. And Sandra Bullock's dress is bloody awful!

marshmallowpies Mon 27-Feb-12 16:27:04

I barely know who Jessica Chastain is but that black and gold dress is GAWJUS. I love it.

AbsofCroissant Mon 27-Feb-12 16:34:51

Gwynnie's cape was detachable.

Hm.

NowThenWreck Mon 27-Feb-12 16:40:28

I don't know squeaver-how many times is it now?
<opens file>

I think Gwynnie's dress was a bit weddingey. I quite like Meryls Streeps Lanvin curtains look though.

BenderBendingRodriguez Mon 27-Feb-12 16:42:03

love this dress but it is totally wasted on kelly osbourne.

AbsofCroissant Mon 27-Feb-12 16:45:34

That is gorgeous. She's lost so much weight, her head now looks disproportionate.

BenderBendingRodriguez Mon 27-Feb-12 16:46:44

the colours of the dress really do not go with her strange grey-pink bouffant.

PeanutButterChocolate Mon 27-Feb-12 16:49:32

This thread is too much. I'm trying to eat a yogurt but have to keep stopping because of laughing. My dog is becoming alarmed.

LeBOF Mon 27-Feb-12 17:30:48

Kelly Osborne looks fucking strange with a blue rinse.

FanjoString Mon 27-Feb-12 17:43:42

Wow, the article and captions mentioned women looking "incredible" nine times. Someone send the DM a thesaurus.

squeaver Mon 27-Feb-12 18:10:53

<snort> bupcakes. I just can't believe that there's anyone LEFT on here who hasn't been involved in the debate at some point.

Maybe MNHQ should include it when newbies register? Tick this box if you have heard the rumour that George Clooney is gay. If "no", read these threads before continuing.....

everlong Mon 27-Feb-12 18:13:20

Haven't read all the thread.

Agree leg is odd, knee is knobbly. Brad doesn't look like a tramp in a suit.

What BUMP? I can't see it.

VivianDarkbloom Mon 27-Feb-12 18:26:34

Someone's started a blog of people "Angelina-ing" (which is already a new "thing")!

Don't know what took them so long. wink

NowThenWreck Mon 27-Feb-12 18:38:07

I'm doing it now.

RabidEchidna Mon 27-Feb-12 18:38:58

She looked stupid, really stupid

I want to know where the extra hand comes from....

thebestisyettocome Mon 27-Feb-12 18:46:52

Brad looks really embarassed. I give them six months tops...

thebestisyettocome Mon 27-Feb-12 18:48:02

That blog is frikkin' genius.

GlitterKitty Mon 27-Feb-12 19:33:59

I agree Angelina's dress isn't the most interesting. I liked Penelope Cruz's though. My favourite was Nathalie Portman - just beautiful.

Gwyneth had a touch of the StarWars thing going on. I thought Janet Mcteer looked good. Meryl - well did she have to come draped in a curtain?

rhondajean Mon 27-Feb-12 20:00:26

Pure jealousy from you all!

I loooooove Angie although she is a bit too thin lately, she was amazing in tomb raider, and I'd prefer to be/befriend/do her than the tedious Anniston or Paltrow.

Glenn close looks amazing doesnt she?

rhondajean Mon 27-Feb-12 20:03:04

Aswww bless Kenneth Branagh and embarrassed looking "guest"at the bottom!

GeraldineHoHoHobergine Mon 27-Feb-12 20:06:17

Today i wore my theatre scrubs split to the crotch on the right leg as an homage to angelina jolie. I was sent home for gross misconduct. It's one rule for celebs and one rule for everyone else.

runningwilde Mon 27-Feb-12 20:11:01

Jen is well rid of cheater Brad. I really don't like AJ, I don't get her 'beauty' at all. Jen looks happy with Justin T so good look to her. She is a gazillion times better than AJ.

Isn't 'Guest' aka Mrs Branagh?

EverybodysSnowyEyed Mon 27-Feb-12 20:16:42

I thought the Bride from Bridesmaids dress was nice

re Ange

That is not a real leg - it is a prosthetic limb stitched to the dress. The reason Mr and Mrs Pitt are holding her so tight is because she has bound her legs together and is hopping.

That leg is not a real leg.

If it was a fake leg you'd have picked a better looking one saucer of milk for whiter

EverybodysSnowyEyed Mon 27-Feb-12 20:30:08

you're right - she got it at the local morgue

just a step further than the vial of blood....

fabwoman Mon 27-Feb-12 20:33:20

It isn't catty to say her leg isn't nice. It is a fact grin.

Heyyyho Mon 27-Feb-12 21:51:50

All those saying her leg is horrible/ pale this that.... lets have a look at your leg, you would kill to have legs like hers and you know it.

GetOrfMoiiLand Mon 27-Feb-12 21:55:43

I love you Buppy for thinking you know Brad Pitt's mum. Actually, she looks like a lovely smiley lady, you can imagine her and Jen having a natter over a cup of tea. What would that nice lady from Missouri chat to Ang about? Bat skulls? 7593 ways to pout?

GetOrfMoiiLand Mon 27-Feb-12 21:56:04

Angelina looked RIDICULOUS.

EverybodysSnowyEyed Mon 27-Feb-12 21:56:27

My leg is probably paler than hers! And I wouldn't want a leg that looked like hers!

If the dress had been a lighter colour I don't think it would have looked so bad.

Was she trying to look sexy? If she was that was a fail. She would have looked better in Stacy Keiblers dress

I also think JLo would have looked better in Ange's dress rather than her tacky boob barers

amothersplaceisinthewrong Mon 27-Feb-12 21:58:09

She looked very bizarre, the way she positioned herself and "arranged" her leg for the camera...... Maybe the camera man was just meant to photograph the leg on it own.

GetOrfMoiiLand Mon 27-Feb-12 22:01:09

She looks like one of those ghastly contrived staged photos of a bride in the 80s when she shows her blue garter.

Kennyp Mon 27-Feb-12 22:18:39

I wonder how much bend she has in it. Must be difficult for her to put on bedsocks if it is always like that.

worrying thoughts about cold bony toes that cant be reached by cold bony angelina hands for bedsock purposes

Flisspaps Mon 27-Feb-12 22:20:46

I read this thread earlier on today, and then spotted something later on that reminded me of it.

I was putting away a packet of Lidl sanitary towels, and noticed one of the cartoon pictures (depicting 'Fresh' FYI) on the pack was a woman standing in the same chicken-sticky-out-leg pose as Angelina. Perhaps that's where she got her inspiration from?

HoneyBadgerDontCare Mon 27-Feb-12 22:22:52

To punish DH for talking about football throughout dinner last night I decided to re-enact Angies arseing acting at the Oscars.

<Wraps self in kitchen curtain, sticks out leg, pouts (got fat lips already) hand on hip>

DH: WTF

Me: I'm doing Ange at the Oscars (not like that blush)

DH: Who?

Me: Salt woman

DH: Hmmm, she either hates her man or has teenagers to embarrass, I salute her evil genius.

aldiwhore Mon 27-Feb-12 22:25:20

YANBU everything else has been said.

Saltire Mon 27-Feb-12 22:25:50

Is Kelly Osbourne auditioning for the role of Mrs Slocombe ina remake of Are You Being Served?

LittleTyga Mon 27-Feb-12 22:34:09

Did anyone notice the photo of Prince Albert of Monaco? He has hold of his wife's elbow very firmly and looking at her - It feels oppressive to me - does anyone else feel it looks that way?

EverybodysSnowyEyed Mon 27-Feb-12 22:34:58

Tyga - yes I thought that.

LeBOF Mon 27-Feb-12 22:35:58

She must be one of the most miserable women in Europe- didn't she get recruited as his beard, and tried to run away before he wedding?

LittleTyga Mon 27-Feb-12 23:15:06

Yes - she refused to go through with the wedding then changed her mind at the last minute. They don't look happy.

crystalglasses Mon 27-Feb-12 23:28:30

Angelina hasn't got an attractive leg. The knee is too bony and the calf too stringy. I wouldn't be showing it off if i were her.

LeBOF Mon 27-Feb-12 23:30:18

I don't know that she changed her mind, so much as was made an offer she couldn't refuse, IYSWIM...

LittleTyga Mon 27-Feb-12 23:33:08

Oh really? I wonder how their story will unfold?

LeBOF Mon 27-Feb-12 23:37:23

With an heir and a spare, then a generous divorce settlement and possibly a mysterious car accident would be my guess.

runningwilde Mon 27-Feb-12 23:56:54

shock at lebof!

runningwilde Mon 27-Feb-12 23:58:37

Is George Clooney really gay?! I'm so annoyed at myself for not seeing it! I can usually sniff a gay man out immediately but I had no idea!

messymammy Tue 28-Feb-12 00:48:08

LeBOF that is nearly word for word what my dp said about their marriage. I feel desperately sorry for that poor girl, they confiscated her passport before the wedding after retrieving her from Paris with her mother. If it was anyone else there would be uproar.

VivianDarkbloom Tue 28-Feb-12 09:07:22

Oh God, poor woman sad Why did he have to have her specifically? There would have been millions of girls just as beautiful who would have sold their souls to marry him if it meant living a Princess fantasy and getting taken to the Oscars.

OTheHugeManatee Tue 28-Feb-12 09:24:02

Apologies if anyone's already posted this, but what if both her legs were showing?

grin

BupcakesandCunting Tue 28-Feb-12 09:30:00

GetOrf, Brad's mum hs said that she still speaks to Jen on the 'phone. This makes me very happy and I imagine that it rattles Ange no end. <evil cackle> Jane (Bread's mum and my BF) is a sensible woman. She can see through Angelina's crap. <necksnake>

To whoever said "you'd all kill for legs like hers" WHATEVS. If I did want a leg like Ange's, I could get one easily. By visiting the poultry section of Tesco and buying a pack of chicken legs.

OTheHugeManatee Tue 28-Feb-12 09:38:50

I can't believe how quickly her leg has gone viral.

leg

leg

leg

(My favourite) LEGS

grin grin grin

GhastlyBespoke Tue 28-Feb-12 09:42:03

Bread Pitt!! Yum.

I haven't managed to read this whole thread yet so apologies if it's already been done but I saw this pic of angelina this morning which has really made me laugh.

BupcakesandCunting Tue 28-Feb-12 09:47:10

God, I want to punch Brad in that picture.

OrkaLiely Tue 28-Feb-12 09:56:23

Charlene hung around Monaco for years waiting to marry Albert, become a princess and enjoy his billions. She knew what a skank he was but went into the marriage with her eyes and wallet wide open.

I think Angelina was vamping it up for the photographers and the pose she struck on stage was just making fun of all the posturing going on on the red carpet. She is gorgeous. Team Angelina here!

saffronwblue Tue 28-Feb-12 10:06:58

It is true, my leg is not like Ange's, but at least it knows to stay under my body supporting it and does not go off on a lark of its own. I think Ange is a bit of a fake poser and she has amply illustrated this here.
Poor Charlene has sad and empty eyes. I too hated the pic of Albie clenching her arm.

LadyClariceCannockMonty Tue 28-Feb-12 10:07:12

All those posting pics of Brad in his Fight Club days: deluded. He doesn't look like that any more. He's reverted to midwest type; bits of straw fall out of his crumpled trouser leg when he walks and he smells of chickens.

Sorry.

BupcakesandCunting Tue 28-Feb-12 10:17:20

grin LadyClarice!

You wouldn't think Prince Albert of Monaco was Grace Kelly's son, would you? He looks like he is constructed from the stuff they make Bernard Matthew's Turkey Dinosaurs from and the tears of orphans.

LadyClariceCannockMonty Tue 28-Feb-12 10:20:31

S'true.

bettybat Tue 28-Feb-12 10:24:51

Look at their hands - it looks wierd. His hand is coming round her waist - all fingers accounted for. Her hand is meeting his, most of her fingers accounted for, some obscured as it should be from the position.

AND THEN!

Three weird child like fingers on the top of her hand! WTF?!

AbsofCroissant Tue 28-Feb-12 10:24:57

I BET Charlene Monaco is all "gawd darnit, I should have been George's beard. They have so much more fun". Actually, gawd darnit is inaccurate. It would have been more "jukslyk, I should have been George's beard". and I'm all "Charlene, I GET you. I totally also want to be George's beard".

My leg's better than Angelina's. For a start, it's hairer. (it's winter, I wear thick tights, why bother?)

Yes, Brad has officially been hot for about twenty minutes in all these years (briefly in Oceans 11 and in Fight Club. and in Snatch). rest of the time? Minging

BupcakesandCunting Tue 28-Feb-12 10:27:36

He looks like he smells of piss.

<nods until head drops off neck>

GetOrfMoiiLand Tue 28-Feb-12 10:35:55

Ooh now buppy I think Albert looks a lot like Grace Kelly.

The way he is gripping her arm though - that aint loving is it? My gran used to grip my arm like that and hiss 'don't show me up' when I used to piss about as a 5 year old.

buttonmoon78 Tue 28-Feb-12 10:38:52

I second the blank sadness in Charlene's eyes. Money can't buy you happiness obviously.

And Brad? The only time I liked him was in Thelma and Louise. After that it was downhill all the way.

GetOrfMoiiLand Tue 28-Feb-12 10:40:48

Agree downhill all the way for Brad after Thelma and Louise. His face is all pinched. And he has the most ghastly hair known to mankind.

Poor Charlene on her wedding day. I don't care if she has come to some kind of arrangement. She looked unspeakably sad.

buttonmoon78 Tue 28-Feb-12 10:48:13

Yup. She's hardly a pin up for the Disney princess lifestyle is she? Poor love. If they dated for 4 years she could hardly not have known what she was getting herself into. I wonder why she did it?

toofattorun Tue 28-Feb-12 10:51:12

You're right. She is too skinny.
Penelope Cruz looked the best. Loved her dress.

BupcakesandCunting Tue 28-Feb-12 10:52:04

I think she thought "Prince + money = the good life" so she agreed to marry the creepy-looking fucker. Then she saw sense and changed her mind and ran off to Paris but it was all too late by then and the prince's evil henchmen dragged her back. sad

buttonmoon78 Tue 28-Feb-12 10:54:00

I agree - Penelope's dress was unspeakably beautiful. So simple yet so elegant. My only gripe (which is being picky to be fair) is that the bodice could have done with a little more interlining. The chiffon was too thin and showed the boning through it. But beautiful dress and, more to the point, fitted beautifully unlike some others. I'm looking at you Mrs Cruise...

buttonmoon78 Tue 28-Feb-12 10:54:39

How do you know all this Bupcakes? It never features on the BBC website wink

GetOrfMoiiLand Tue 28-Feb-12 11:14:25

Penelope Cruz looked lovely, real old school Grace Kelly style glamour.

I don't think ang is too skinny, she has a great figure imo but what a TWAT she looked.

I like to imagine a slightly drunken Jennifer Aniston pointing and laughing at the Oscars on the telly saying 'hahaha you stupid fucker, look how stupid you look WHO'S LAUGHING NOW' and then ringing Jane Pitt in the morning and saying 'did you put her up to that' and then they both hoot with spiteful laughter.

I think me and buppy may have been investing too much of our imagination in this.

Mollydoggerson Tue 28-Feb-12 11:19:58

Ninja Chipmunk That's brilliant!!

TobyLerone Tue 28-Feb-12 11:21:46

I actually dislike Jen more now, thinking of that, GetOrf. Team Ange!

Penelope Cruz always seems like a twat, but that dress was utterly gorgeous.

noddyholder Tue 28-Feb-12 11:28:42

Jennifer is hugely needy and always looks like she is clinging on to her man for dear life. They always leave her in teh end and I think this new one will be the same

GetOrfMoiiLand Tue 28-Feb-12 11:33:07

I never really used to have any opinion on ange either way, but after watching the risible Salt I think she is a bit of a nobbend. She just pouted her way through that dozy film.

TheCrunchUnderfoot Tue 28-Feb-12 11:34:46

A familiar scene at A&E, downtown LA:

'Help help I fell off a sunbed and now I have OscarLeg'

'Don't worry love we'll pop it back in in a jiffy - CRACK'

grin

BupcakesandCunting Tue 28-Feb-12 11:34:47

Jennifer isn't needy she is just a warm and tactile person. I bet she is more fun than Angelina. I reckon Justin Theroux is a stayer. And you'd never see Bread doing this.

AbsofCroissant Tue 28-Feb-12 11:40:33

I think, when it comes down to it, I'm more team Angelina in some ways than team Jennifer. Apart from the whole Angelina seducing a married man thing, that's just so uncool.

I think essentially it comes down to:
- bubbly, popular with the girls, girl next door, cheerleader vs.
- socially awkward, gets on with men a bit arrogant
I'm more like part 2.

deep.

LadyClariceCannockMonty Tue 28-Feb-12 11:44:53

For heaven's sake. 'Angelina seducing a married man'. HE had a choice and HE made a decision. It was not all down to her. This attitude that it's all about 'maneating' seductive evil sirens stealing away poor defenceless men is damaging and offensive to both genders.

TobyLerone Tue 28-Feb-12 11:47:20

Quite, LadyClarice.

That attitude IMO is no better than saying that Jen deserved to lose him because she's boring and less attractive.

Anyway, back to the dresses. Kate Hudson looked horrid. Shapeless and nasty.

BupcakesandCunting Tue 28-Feb-12 11:48:35

Oh no. I don't dislike her because she was norti and stoled Bread from Jen. Bread wanted to be stoled, the nasty, monkey-faced, piss-whiffing shitehawk.

I dislike her because she is an idiot.

HTH. xxx

BupcakesandCunting Tue 28-Feb-12 11:49:36

Also, she ain't goning to age well. Imagine those lips on a seventy-year old fisog. She will look like Mick Jagger in drag, you mark my words.

MinnieBar Tue 28-Feb-12 11:51:58

Justin's legs are too thin for me but I guess as Jen is stick-thin too, they go together quite well.

LadyClariceCannockMonty Tue 28-Feb-12 11:52:36

Wasn't talking about you, Bupcakes. It was in response to Abs and, upthread, porcamiseria.

And what do you mean 'She will look like Mick Jagger in drag'? She already does, no? hmm grin

AbsofCroissant Tue 28-Feb-12 11:53:15

apols, I was focusing on the lady issues, ignoring Bread. Maybe I've been semi-doing Dukan for too long, ignoring Bread is just part and parcel of my day to day life.

Haven't seen Kate Hudson. Personally, I think my fave is Penelope Cruz. Gwyneth was too boring, EVEN wearing a cape, which says something. Next year I think she should wear a Wonder Woman costume and totally NAIL a caped outfit, unlike this year. Meryl Streep = bacofoil, but in a good way.

LadyWord Tue 28-Feb-12 11:55:13

Hmmm I can't in all conscience be team Jolie or team Aniston. Angelina just looks plastic and rubbery to me, and DP lurves her! How irritating. Leg schmeg. She's just so "I'm soooo sexy hollywood glamour, get me, get me and my leg and my handsome bloke" yawwn. Even so if I had to have one of them round for tea it would be her, not boring pants Jen. She is through girl next door and out the other side.

Now as for frocks, I liked Michelle Williams's best, amazing colour - but classic example of how sometimes people would look better with a bigger bum and thighs. (My own arse, for example would fill it a bit better <modest> grin)

here (like wiig's frock colour as well)

BupcakesandCunting Tue 28-Feb-12 11:55:17

Justin Theroux might have thin legs but he has SMASHING eyebrows and I would go at him like a bastard.

TobyLerone Tue 28-Feb-12 11:55:31

Oh, I fucking LOATHE Gwyneth. To the point where, had she worn Penelope's dress, I probably would have hated it. I cannot be objective where that woman is concerned although she does have really nice hair.

GetOrfMoiiLand Tue 28-Feb-12 11:56:14

Kate Hudson's dress was vile - it had that flesh coloured gauze on the back, like you see on those ghastly dresses which ice skaters wear.

I don't like kate Hudson anyway. I don't do 'zany' or 'kooky'.

GetOrfMoiiLand Tue 28-Feb-12 11:56:41

Gwyn looked the best of the whole lot, I think.

LadyClariceCannockMonty Tue 28-Feb-12 11:58:53

Kate Hudson is an also-ran. Unlike her mother, who is The Real Thing and someone I would love to go for cocktails with.

BupcakesandCunting Tue 28-Feb-12 11:58:55

GOD I can't abide Kate Hudson. Her face puts me in mind of a petulant Veruca Salt-type toddler girl who scweam and scweam until she is sthick unless she can have the strawberry sundae with sprinkles AND silver balls. And her new boyfriend Matt Bellamy from Muse looks like he should be sat on a rock in the sun catching flies on his tongue.

Srsly, she just wants to collect sperms from rockstars to make little rockstar babies. The fruitloop.

forehead Tue 28-Feb-12 12:08:27

AJ even struck that ridiculous pose on stage. I don't mind AJ i think she is basically a decent person, but she did go down in my estimation with all that posturing. In fact she reminded me of that waste of space
Paris Hilton who always thrusts her vagina forward and places one arm on her waist while pouting (attempting to ) seductively.
BTW, if George Clooney is straight so is George Michael.
When i was a teen , i had a massive crush on GM and refused to believe he was gay. I was obviously in denial...

AbsofCroissant Tue 28-Feb-12 12:10:01

Oh yes, Goldie Hawn is Awesome. So much so, that Rihanna was recently doing an homage to her hair c. Private Benjamin.
Third picture
Is that not pretty much Private Benjamin?
Tah dah!

GetOrfMoiiLand Tue 28-Feb-12 12:13:34

I love Goldie Hawn - she comes across as sho charming.

noddyholder Tue 28-Feb-12 12:17:36

I aspire to be like goldie in my 60s all kaftans and sunny hair I love her!

BupcakesandCunting Tue 28-Feb-12 12:20:07

I like Goldie. She's like a proper '60s person, all shaggy long fringe and massive doe eyes.

marshmallowpies Tue 28-Feb-12 12:21:39

I get annoyed with AJ because of her 'take-me-seriously' schtick but have not yet seen her do any proper acting in a film that actually impressed me since 'Girl, Interrupted'. Now that she is involved in making documentaries I will have to reserve judgement on that until I know more....perhaps she will turn out to be brilliant at it. Perhaps.

Jen on the other hand makes the WORST romcoms and yet occasionally can be properly funny (Office Space) or do serious good acting (The Good Girl) which reminds me why I liked her in the first place.

Not really been impressed by Brad since Fight Club but I know The Assassination of Jesse James is meant to be brilliant, just not got round to seeing it yet. Moneyball is meant to be good too.

GetOrfMoiiLand Tue 28-Feb-12 12:24:03

Oh yes, take AJ SERIOUSLY because she is a UN goodwill ambassador.

So was Geri fucking Halliwell. They're not exactly choosy.

I have never seen AJ in a decent film, she can't even pull off acting in a 'worthy' film like that one where her son went missing. I never saw Girl Interrupted because I am an unreconstructed WINONA RYDER HATER.

GetOrfMoiiLand Tue 28-Feb-12 12:25:08

I nearly joined the army because of Private Benjamin, that is the absolute god's honest truth. Went in the army careers office and everything (and then fucked off at high speed when I understood the reality).

NormanTebbit Tue 28-Feb-12 12:25:28

I was just about to mention Geri Halliwell - I thought I had imagined that one, but clearly not.

GetOrfMoiiLand Tue 28-Feb-12 12:26:01

I also love the MNer upthread who ponders on how AJ gets her bedsocks on when her legs stick out like that grin

BupcakesandCunting Tue 28-Feb-12 12:26:44

Does anyone remember 'Overboard'?

GetOrfMoiiLand Tue 28-Feb-12 12:26:45

No.

Geri went from Busty Brenda to dove grey shift dresses from Next, with her hair up. She looked like Louise Woodward when on trial iirc.

GetOrfMoiiLand Tue 28-Feb-12 12:27:43
NormanTebbit Tue 28-Feb-12 12:27:59

She did a great 'I'm mad, me...looook I'm Craaaaaazy (sticks tongue out, rolls eyes)' in Girl Interrupted. Quite upstaged Winona,'s (genuine) 'mad as a bag of ferrets' schtick.

QuintessentialyHollow Tue 28-Feb-12 12:28:03

I cant believe La Jolie striking such a horrible contrived awful pose. What on EARTH has her leg to do outside her dress? This will for sure be dubbed the Jolie Chicken Pose.

Gwynneth Paltrow, now, there is PURE class.

GetOrfMoiiLand Tue 28-Feb-12 12:29:15

Yes.

Now that was a bit dodgy with my MN feminist hat on, but I looooved it when I was a kid.

Ditto Bird on a Wire, I wouldn't be able to watch that now due to the Mel Gibson hate.

I think a lot of my internal life is taken up loathing strangers.

NowThenWreck Tue 28-Feb-12 12:29:18

Still laughing at bupcakes Bread rant. Piss Whiffing! Arf!

Yeah, Kate Hudson-blee! I once waited on her and her old (really old) husband, him from the Black Crowes.
They left a shit tip, so I will basically hate them both FOREVAH!

GetOrfMoiiLand Tue 28-Feb-12 12:31:10

Gwyn spent a lot of the first part of this century wearing ghastly oscar dresses remember this child frightener?

BupcakesandCunting Tue 28-Feb-12 12:32:16

The Loose Hags are discussing Jolie Chicken Leg if anyone cares.

GetOrfMoiiLand Tue 28-Feb-12 12:32:16

Gah wrong link ghastly gwyn here

NowThenWreck Tue 28-Feb-12 12:35:21

That's evil GetOrf.

"Look at meee, I'm a massive Hollywood star but I still need to get extra attention by displaying my shrivelled nipples to the entire world. Look! I'm Sexy!Arn't I?!"

boak.

LadyClariceCannockMonty Tue 28-Feb-12 12:35:43

Oooh, that was a bad one! I think she knew it too.

LadyWord Tue 28-Feb-12 12:36:15

Oh yes that goth vest thing was weird! - thing is though I think it could have been amazing, with thicker straps, so it looked less like an actual vest, and a really fab bra it might have been very cool.

GetOrfMoiiLand Tue 28-Feb-12 12:37:51

I remember watching the oscars ceremony and she bounced (literally) across the stage and I cringed for her.

10 years later and she looks 100 times better.

THERE IS HOPE FOR US ALL.

<leaves reality behind>

TobyLerone Tue 28-Feb-12 12:40:03

And then there was the dress she stole from Malibu Stacey.

skrumle Tue 28-Feb-12 12:44:12

i liked cameron diaz and milla jojovich but i thought the best was octavia spencer - that dress was GORGEOUS! angelina looked very odd - there's a red carpet picture where you can see both her legs and it really does look like there's a third leg hiding under the dress...

GetOrfMoiiLand Tue 28-Feb-12 12:51:08

That pink dress was crap and didn't fit her.

Gwyn's dress last year was brilliant.

AJ has always just given off an air of wafty smugness.

<is not at all bitter at getting called "Angielips" all through highschool, oh no>

I do like VB though, I bet she is a right larf behind the cameras, and I think you can really see that her and Dave are in lurve, and she looks like a good mum. <gavel>

My only question is, where was Jonny Depp? A few photos of him wouldn't have gone amiss. :D

Psammead Tue 28-Feb-12 13:15:13

Hello, Tits, not seen you for ages. Hope you are ok.

Johnny Depp is, imo, one of those who has gone a bit weird.

BupcakesandCunting Tue 28-Feb-12 13:16:53

Johnny Depp has been very busy planning his new life with me. Haven't you, Johnny? <makes Johnny puppet talk> "Yes Gupgakes"

I know right?! I stealthily returned! <waves>

As for Johnny, now he is dumping old grumpy pants Vanessa, he is obviously going to come looking for me. It was only a matter of time. :D

ReindeerBollocks Tue 28-Feb-12 13:25:18

Hi TitsalinaBumsquash!
Welcome back (I'm a NC so you won't recognise me but hi all the same)

Glad to see you've returned smile

Maybe Gwynnies got herself a good old English stylist? Whatever she's done she looks amazing now.

BupcakesandCunting Tue 28-Feb-12 13:27:57

I like Gwyneth.

<runs off>

Psammead Tue 28-Feb-12 13:27:58

If Johnny is looking for a new love he can come round only if he brings his pirate costume, wig and dodgy accent. Otherwise the only time he'd be welcome at my door is with a large thin crust, salami and mushrooms and a side order of garlic bread. Keep the change, off yer fuck.

BupcakesandCunting Tue 28-Feb-12 13:31:18

Spammy grin

Anyway, he's here with me did you not hear? Isn't that right, Johnny?<readjusts puppet Johnny on hand> "Yeth. Giss off Gammyad."

Psammead Tue 28-Feb-12 13:46:14

Oh keep him. He'd only forget my coke anyway.

LadyClariceCannockMonty Tue 28-Feb-12 13:51:53

Is it wrong to say I think I fancy puppet Johnny a little bit?

NowThenWreck Tue 28-Feb-12 13:55:42

But he'd remember your smack Psammead. Oh yes.

NowThenWreck Tue 28-Feb-12 13:56:34

Isn't it weird how Johnny Depp always goes out with women who look just like him? He and Kate Moss looked like demonic twins.

noddyholder Tue 28-Feb-12 13:59:35

I like gwyneth too. I think she is quite real in that if I was in her position with a rock star husband and acting career I would probably get carried away from time to time with ideas of baking and the like but would know deep down i was an arse and most people don't live like that. It is easy to get carried away! She looks good atm

GetOrfMoiiLand Tue 28-Feb-12 14:22:40

I like her as well.

I don't like Johnny Depp. All style, no substance. The bloke has built a whole career out of a fetching pout (like ang).

And he looks like a soap dodger, the dirty article.

noddyholder Tue 28-Feb-12 14:29:29

Jonny was gorgeous years ago but looks like a bit of a sad old drunk now shock one of those men who was gorgeous once and can't let it go. I still would though grin

MrsDollyLevi Tue 28-Feb-12 14:45:46

YANBU.

It looks ridiculous.....like it doesn't belong to her....kind of Jake the Peg-ish. Christ, this woman is the ultimate narcissist. Wierd.

TheSmallClanger Tue 28-Feb-12 15:50:27

I find Gwyneth irritating in the extreme as a person, although she has given some very good performances in films that I have enjoyed. She was great in The Talented Mr Ripley.

I preferred Angie J when she was properly batshit crazy, not just a crazed attention seeker. Her films were better then too. I thought her and Jonny Lee Miller made a great couple. Interestingly, his career divebombed for ages when they split up.

LadyClariceCannockMonty Tue 28-Feb-12 15:53:13

I preferred Ange when she was a real nutter too, SmallClanger. These days it feels as though her nuttiness is being channeled differently, and to more pathetic effect.

Boomerwang Tue 28-Feb-12 15:54:48

AJ looks just like Madonna now. Take a good look at her face she's stretched it far too taut.

I adored some of the other dresses. That McQueen black and gold dress is amazing and I REALLY liked the one Shailene Woodley (who?) was wearing.

CaveMum Tue 28-Feb-12 16:21:07

Apologies if this has already been posted (and for the fact it is a Daily Fail article), but this made me spit my 4pm cup of tea over my keyboard grin

Boomerwang Tue 28-Feb-12 16:27:43

That is hilarious :D

CaveMum Tue 28-Feb-12 16:43:47

Brad: "I dare you to strike a really weird pose on the red carpet tonight."

Ange: "Ok."

That's all that I can imagine is the cause of that pose!

AbsofCroissant Wed 29-Feb-12 09:33:18

Seems GoFugYourself has also heard the rumours about old George.

limitedperiodonly Wed 29-Feb-12 09:51:59

I resisted opening this thread until today because I knew it would be shallow and bitchy.

I wanted to give it time to gather loads of comments. grin

Good on you Angelina. grin

GetOrfMoiiLand Wed 29-Feb-12 10:26:56

limitedperiodonly Wed 29-Feb-12 10:48:44

GetOrf and Bups you couldn't be wronger about Goldie Hawn.

Ploughing my way through the thread so apologies if anyone's mentioned Victoria Beckham's and Liz Hurley's peculiar leg poses.

VB looks like she's warming up for a limbo competition and Liz Hurley shouldn't wear those dresses at all.

She has great tits but legs like a pit pony.

limitedperiodonly Wed 29-Feb-12 11:02:09

OK, see I'm too late with VB and Hurley comments.

<sulks>

AbsofCroissant Wed 29-Feb-12 11:12:27

As annoying as Goop is, she was fabulous in Talented Mr Ripley and in Royal Tenenbaums.

limitedperiodonly Wed 29-Feb-12 11:17:37

How can I put this? She's vile not as warm as she looks.

Actually, I had difficulty seeing how she looks because she was seated in a dimly-lit room nearly 10ft away from me surrounded by bright lights which bathed her in a warm glow and made me squint.

I'd like to say it was like meeting an angel except it wasn't.

AbsofCroissant Wed 29-Feb-12 11:29:08

Wait, who are you talking about? Goldie?

<sticks fingers in ears>

I personally feel that Private Benjamin was a Feminist Masterpiece. whether or not the ladies in the Feminism section would agree with me, is to be seen.

fabwoman Wed 29-Feb-12 11:34:27

No, actually, I wouldn't want legs like hers. Mine aren't particularly nice but they do the job they need too.

BettyPerske Wed 29-Feb-12 11:40:57

Ooh gosh the thing I find when I look at her is I just think, what a POSER.

That's a shame as she might be great underneath but she looks so utterly conscious of trying to impress, it's not attractive, well not to me.

Natalie Portman looks really beautiful and I love Penélope Cruz's dress so much. Most of the others look a bit dodgy. Maria something is very pretty (green dress with strappy things).

Main point of interest is George C having a girlfriend <sobs quietly> <remembers DP looks a bit like he> <cheers up> smile

Charliefarlie1192 Wed 29-Feb-12 11:42:44

I have got better legs than AJ they are my only redeeming feature, think potato with amazing legs

Someone please tell me what the 'joke' was? She isn't human, she looks like a waxwork

limitedperiodonly Wed 29-Feb-12 11:43:05

Yes it was Goldie.

We met for her other feminist masterpiece, The Banger Sisters, co-starring her fellow charm-vacuum Susan Sarandon.

I like the beginning of Private Benjamin. The second half where she starts being competent and indulges in espionage and snogging with that creepy Armand Assante is disappointing.

I posted something in Feminism praising the surprisingly feminist plotline of Tootsie. I think I got away with it.

TBH they can be very friendly smile

scaryteacher Wed 29-Feb-12 11:48:49

I thought AJ would have looked much better with some kind of hosiery (black), rather than pasty pins.

AbsofCroissant Wed 29-Feb-12 11:49:56

"I posted something in Feminism praising the surprisingly feminist plotline of Tootsie. I think I got away with it"

See limited, this is why you're turning into my new hero.

TobyLerone Wed 29-Feb-12 11:59:57

I'm more sad about Susan Sarandon not being nice than Goldie Hawn.

LadyClariceCannockMonty Wed 29-Feb-12 12:14:00

Goldie! <weeps>

GetOrfMoiiLand Wed 29-Feb-12 12:17:45

ACTUALLY speaking of Goldie - that pose of TwatAnge reminds me of Goldie from the X factor this year look

GetOrfMoiiLand Wed 29-Feb-12 12:18:54

The mumnet feminists are great. Most of them are just lovely posters who are all over the other boards anyway.

I have spouted all sorts of shite over there, nobody has ever flamed me.

One of the best threads I have read on MN was the feminist analysis of the TV show Friends. It was brilliant.

NowThenWreck Wed 29-Feb-12 12:19:09

No! Susan Sarandon is a godess! What did she do to make you say that limited?
Please tell me so I can judge whether SWBU.

GetOrfMoiiLand Wed 29-Feb-12 12:19:41

Upset about Goldie Hawn.

AND Susan Sarandon.

noddyholder Wed 29-Feb-12 12:26:18

An old friend of mine did Goldies hair a couple of times in London in the 90s and said she was lovely

LeBOF Wed 29-Feb-12 12:34:20

I think Goldie has always been very very nice to her hairdressers. She is not daft. And I bet the lighting rig boys have knobs so polished that they emit a kind of soft glow of their own...

<metaphor, not actual libel>

limitedperiodonly Wed 29-Feb-12 12:40:32

I was completely unaware of the existence of the person known as Goldie Cheung until this point, so thank you.

Glad to see someone has taken up the baton of Jacko in the grabbing of their own private parts.

JennyPiccolo Wed 29-Feb-12 12:41:19

I got a goldie haircut last week, I have to admit im loving myself silly in it.

<bang on non-existent trend>

LeBOF Wed 29-Feb-12 12:43:26

Taking up the baton of Jacko has caused all manner of problems for the youth of today.

<read that how you will>

limitedperiodonly Wed 29-Feb-12 13:00:32

Totally true about Feminism and the women who post there GetOrf although I never spout shite myself wink

What did Susan Sarandon do to me? Just behaved as if I was a very much lesser being than her because obviously I don't hold Important Views and have never appeared in a cliched alleged comedy about two superannuated groupies which hid its sociopolitical and feminist subtexts so well they didn't appear to be there. Wait a minute, maybe that's because there were no sociopolitical and feminist subtexts.

Got off to a bad start with Goldie and went downhill from there. I blame it on being dazzled by her aura those fucking arc lights. I realised it was time to get my coat when her phone rang and she said: 'I have to talk to Kurt now'.

noddyholder Wed 29-Feb-12 13:16:27

Still want to look like her when I'm old(er)

AbsofCroissant Wed 29-Feb-12 14:07:14

Agreed, most of the Feminism ladies are lovely, though I do blame them (partly) for ruining many tv shows (friends for e.g.) and movies for me. Last night I was watching "Just go with it" and was all "how terrible, objectifying whasserface the one in the bikini like that. Pscha". Though I did love the sheep jokes.

sonicrainboom Wed 29-Feb-12 14:47:36

Abs it's like the Matrix. Once you are aware you see the sexism that you previously didn't notice. But it was there all the time.
I always thought there was something off with Friends but didn't knew how to articulate it before. Thanks, Internet!

limitedperiodonly Wed 29-Feb-12 15:23:39

Abs ignore that. I like Snoop Dog. It's okay because Julie Bindel admitted she does too. It would be okay anyway because it's my opinion. But I like Julie Bindel a lot and she can fight my battles any day.

ps don't say ladies. smile

AbsofCroissant Wed 29-Feb-12 15:26:18

I can't say ladies? I like saying ladies - it makes me sound politer than I am in person. I also say gentleman, if that balances things out?

<wipes nose on sleeve>

AbsofCroissant Wed 29-Feb-12 15:28:25

I'm now Bechdel Testing all over the countryside, and Seinfeld doesn't hold up that well. Nor does my social life

sonicrainboom Wed 29-Feb-12 15:38:16

Do you never talk to another woman, about something besides men?

AbsofCroissant Wed 29-Feb-12 15:41:39

I have like 90% male friends. (as in, most of my friends are male. Not that they're about 10% female)

We mostly talk about girls, so it's wrong all over the place

limitedperiodonly Wed 29-Feb-12 15:44:23

I've just started watching Seinfeld only 21 years late. It's growing on me but you're right.

I hate Thelma and Louise which people think is a feminist film but in which they simply react to what men do to them and then die.

Sorry for spoiling that for anyone who hasn't seen it. No, actually, I'm not. And it's got Susan 'Stick Up Her Arse' Sarandon in it.

My union banned us from writing 'ladies' because it's patronising and divides females into good and bad and respectable and scurrilous.

It's a point with which I agree but I may have dropped my feminist principles whenever talking to the chairman, not chair or chairwoman, of the WI.

I have few principles when trying to get my own way or as some people might say: using my feminine wiles. It is unwise of them to say that...

sonicrainboom Wed 29-Feb-12 15:48:07

I use "ladies" sometimes becuase there aren't enough non-degrading words to say woman. Like there is for men, you can say bloke chap dude guy etc.

AbsofCroissant Wed 29-Feb-12 15:51:44

Overall I think it (Seinfeld) passes the Bechdel test, as there are some episodes were Elaine hangs out with other women and they talk about various things, but on the whole, it is mostly three men and a woman hanging around and talking crap. The only other female characters really are Jerry's mother and George's mother.

I do love it though, it's one of the funniest things i've ever seen in my life, despite watching all the episodes at least twice.

Didn't Goldie say several rather dated and un-feminist things about her relationship with Kurt? E.g. it's ok if he shags around, that's what men do, bless 'em, but their actual relationship is rock solid so it doesn't demean her in any way, shape or form. hmm

Never mind AJ's scrawny leg. I can't see past those arms. She is waaaaay too thin. I'm thinking eating disorder. I've read loads of shit stories where they say she 'forgets to eat' because she's so busy with kids/brad/acting/directing/shopping etc, but come on. This is not a healthy look.

She has to stick one leg out because they couldn't get a babysitter and she is smuggling all 157 children into the Oscars under that skirt. The fingers are the smallest one, trying to claw it's way out to freedom.

I dare one of you to ask "Hey Goldie, I've heard you are a massive bitch. Is it true? smile"

I'm Ang neutral but she does look like a vampire. I bet Bradley does his share around the mansion.....

Woo-Jen would irritate me. "Fancy a date Friday night Jennifer?"

"Ooh, I don't know, I might have bikram yoga/cupping class/positive tokers group/weightwatchers/therapy, if I can make it, I'm happy to go out!"

"Great, how about dinner?"

"Great, there's a wonderful lettuce and cabbage fusion restaurant I love, all you can eat, stylish vomitorium and zero carbs!

<begins to understand why Bradley fell for Vampira>

Oh dear, Goldie's had some work done on her top lip hasn't she (she's on Graham Norton right now) - she's got bad duck face going on…
