To be outraged at discovering a long chin hair?

Growing under my jawline?
What? When did this happen and who put it there?!
I have religiously checked my face and chin since entering menopause and discovered other random hairs but how did this one evade me until it reached at least an inch long?
Disgraceful ... and I blame the government.

Miette Sun 11-Sep-11 00:54:09

I'm 40 and I started getting a few bristles in one patch underneath my chin about two years ago. It's revolting isn't it. I pluck them out using tweezers with a light attached that I got from Amazon to make it easier to see them.

LeBOF Sun 11-Sep-11 00:54:56

Neck hairs are worse. How do they get so long?

WoofToYouTooLady Sun 11-Sep-11 00:57:12

pffffffffft you wait til you find white eyebrow hairs. And not only are they white, they are sharp as needles shock

Salmotrutta Sun 11-Sep-11 01:01:25

Oh great - white eyebrow hairs! I can't wait <wails>

And neck hairs? <faints>

Mind you - I'm fair at least and no obvious grey hair (yet!!) so maybe the white eyebrow look will take a bit longer <hopeful>

... and I have a sore hip every morning until I "warm up".

darksideofthemooncup Sun 11-Sep-11 01:03:53

White eyebrow hairs? Pffft? I raise you (and I can hardly bear to type this) white PUBES sad

Salmotrutta Sun 11-Sep-11 01:08:53

Oh, I see your white pubes and raise you this:
my hair in that region has thinned out and almost disappeared.

Ta Da!

kerrymumbles Sun 11-Sep-11 01:11:33

we start growing hair where we don't want it and losing it where we do....

Salmotrutta Sun 11-Sep-11 01:16:55

So true, so true kerry ... and who told us?
Eh?
No-one, that's who!!

crazynanna Sun 11-Sep-11 01:22:39

Yes WTYTL,and if you rub your eye and don't check the mirror, you can actually guarantee that the little bastard rogue one will be sticking up at a 90 degree angle to the rest of your eyebrow...shining it's silvery shimmer to all who look at you hmm

crazynanna Sun 11-Sep-11 01:23:47

My minge always looks like it has had a powdering of talc sad

darksideofthemooncup Sun 11-Sep-11 01:27:45

Salmo I LIVE for the day that happens. I have chin hair, neck hair, weird alien white hairs that grow OVERNIGHT out of my cheek and, to ring the changes, my SHOULDER. And I appear to be cultivating pubey looking hairs on the inside of my thighs that seem to be creeping ever closer to my knees. The hair on my head, however gets thinner by the day.
How is this fair? <shakes fist at sky>

Mspontipine Sun 11-Sep-11 01:34:24

Oh don't!!! I was sat tonight picking at what I thought was a tiny scab on my chin. Later realised it was my horrible recurring black chin bristle sad

WhuckFistle Sun 11-Sep-11 01:36:37

Those chin hairs can't possibly grow normally. When they appear, they are usually a good length already. I reckon they're implanted during the night by the turbo hair fairy. Mine are also dark and coarse, despite me being fair... All the better for people to be able to spot them at 40 paces.
Yup, pubes starting to get a sprinkling of salt and pepper and I noticed a white eyebrow hair the other day.

Number of grey hairs on head (which I wouldn't mind at all) = NONE!

darksideofthemooncup Sun 11-Sep-11 01:37:12

I went to the doctor in a panic due to a mysterious lump on the edge of my nipple.
It was an ingrown hair.
What a DELIGHTFUL picture I have painted of myself grin

Mspontipine Sun 11-Sep-11 01:40:41

I had an unusually long hair on my arm a while ago. What's that all about? Kept catching sight of it thinking it was a stray then realising was attached. Did actually get very attached to it - was going through a rather stressful time. Would sit stroking it!!! Now it's just disappeared. No more have arrived. I miss that hair ..... sad

WoofToYouTooLady Sun 11-Sep-11 01:44:59

gawd we sound dead attractive, non?

LunaticIsOnTheGrass Sun 11-Sep-11 01:48:07

I'm constantly plucking stray hairs sad

My Mum was rather hirstute & I seem to be going the same way.

I'm grateful that I'm quite fair so that it doesn't show as much Mum's did, definitely getting hairier with age though.

Love the user name by the way darksideofthemooncup grin

darksideofthemooncup Sun 11-Sep-11 01:56:06

why thank you lunaticIsOntheGrass <tries to do Pink Floyd gangsign, is distracted by random weird hair>
I can remember being MORTIFIED by my Mum on the beach, to be fair it was the seventies, when hirsuteness was the norm but I wanted to DIE when she put her cossie on seemingly oblivious to the nest of spiders legs that had set up home in her crotch.

Joby1970 Tue 13-Sep-11 13:12:42

My mum & sister told me about the under chin hairs acouple of weeks ago - I am now living in fear of them! I am 41.
I've never had much in the way of hair (down there!) so will look bald if that goes!

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe Tue 13-Sep-11 13:23:04

I've noticed one on the side of my nose that seems to grow at top speed. It's completely white and very thin and I pull it out when it catches my eye. It must be an inch or longer and seems to sprout overnight... very odd! confused

<settles down with the rest of the strange, hairy people...>

cheekeymonkey Tue 13-Sep-11 13:30:36

Long black hairy nipple on one breast, waiting for them to turn white with resignation sad

A1980 Tue 13-Sep-11 13:46:07

I've had jet black chin hair since I was 16. Lots of it. But then I have PCOS.

At least you haven't dealt with it all your life.

I get a neck hair when I'm due on, always in the same place. I check for it regularly, but when I go to bed it's not there, I wake up 6/7 hours later and the bastard is there and a good inch long!!

HairyGrotter Tue 13-Sep-11 15:06:00

I get a spout of black hair under my chin when I'm due on, I'm 30...this has been happening since mid 20's (woe). I also get the weird 'supernatural' long hair that sprouts miraculously over night angry.

I also have the same fucking nipple hair that sprouts 2 days before my period, at least it's consistent. Plus, I have grey hair on my temple (I call myself rogue) that has been there since I was 20!!!

HairyGrotter Tue 13-Sep-11 15:07:45

On the plus side, as of yesterday, I'm single again...I blame the supernatural hair

sprinkles77 Tue 13-Sep-11 15:11:31

YANBU

the chin hairs are witches hairs. The witches put them there when you are not looking. Usually about a second before you meet someone. That's why they're not there when you look in the mirror before you leave the house but are about a foot long by the time you get home. Well that's what happens in my house.

The white pubes are another joy. I guess at least they are less obvious than the black ones caught between DH's teeth when taking DS swimming.

sprinkles77 Tue 13-Sep-11 15:12:32

Oh, and I'm only 33. So not fair. Come menopause I'll have a white beard that is long enough to hide the fact that all my pubes have been spirited away.

Jins Tue 13-Sep-11 15:17:50

This thread has made me check my chin where my recurring chin hair sprouts. Bearing in mind it was plucked triumphantly on Sunday night you can imagine how disappointed I am to feel that little sharp bump that tells me it's back.

I seem to spend far too much time in front of a magnifying mirror with my tweezers at the ready

HairyGrotter Tue 13-Sep-11 15:22:46

I always find myself fingering my chin when in company, almost looking whimsical...it's a magical moment, but then that tale tale sign of stubble (it's stubble, lets face it), my face falls ashen.

crazynanna Tue 13-Sep-11 15:29:13

Just wondering...after pulling out the offending little shitters blighters',how long before you have to pluck again? smile. It seems mine are on supergrow, with tweezers always having to be in sight.hmm

HairyGrotter Tue 13-Sep-11 15:31:07

I check every evening, and every morning, I can usually get a good 2-3 plucks a week. Depends though as and when I'm due on.

I'm only 21 and if I don't keep up with the waxing will probably grow a full beard. I'm ginger but somehow the chin hairs are black. angry

Its going to get worse as I get older isn't it? <<wails>>

crazynanna Tue 13-Sep-11 15:35:14

Yes,I think that's it,Hairy, mine thunder along at monthly time.
<Feels slightly uneasy calling someone 'Hairy' on a hairy chin thread.

HairyGrotter Tue 13-Sep-11 15:36:29

I'm hairy, and I'm a grotter...also a fan of Harry Potter (I'm so poetic), please don't feel bad. My chin says it all

LadyGrace Tue 13-Sep-11 15:39:53

I found the world's longest hairs growing out of a mole on my chin when I was fifteen blush

It was at least 2 inches long, was about three or four hairs all very close together, and I must have been walking around sporting it for ages before I found it, when I was absent mindedly stroking my chin one night. People must have seen it! And not one of them told me sad

I now check my whole face and neck with a bright light and tweezers before I leave the house.

RedRubyBlue Tue 13-Sep-11 15:46:36

I once worked as a dental nurse and went to move a very long and fine wavy hair away from a patient's mouth.

It was attached and 'plinked' like something out of a Tom and Jerry cartoon.

blush

Lucky the patient was numb.

Well I have a full set with a handlebar moustache and mutton-chop sideys. Part of the morning regime now includes scraping out scrambled egg, muesli, cobwebs, fledgelings etc from said facial adornment and braiding my Denis Healey-esque bushy eyebrows so I can see where I'm going.

That and trimming the hairy warts takes the best part of half an hour. Oh! for the days when a smear of Pond's Cold Cream and a comb through the locks was all I needed...

(disclaimer: am prone to massive exaggeration. But I do have a white neck hair - bleugh)

RedRubyBlue Tue 13-Sep-11 15:49:35

Also - my DP complains that my chin hair stabs him when I kiss him.

Wrong on soooo many levels [wails]

FairPhyllis Wed 14-Sep-11 04:46:29

YABU - I have had dark chin hairs and the odd neck hair since my early 20s. I occasionally find a long dark one in the centre of my cheek. I am going to be a circus exhibit by the time I am 40.

SatisfiedOtter Wed 14-Sep-11 05:09:54

I get one on my upper lip, 3 on my chin and yes, an unbelievably long neck hair too! My problem is I am RUBBISH at checking for them and it's usually when DH rugby tackles me to the floor with a pair of tweezers that I realise they have probably grown back! grin

rubyrubyruby Wed 14-Sep-11 05:12:23

FFS

How old are you lot? Have I got all this to come?

rubyrubyruby - forty somethingish. Nearer fifty. And yes, you probably have wink

Hairy nipples - there's another. Shag pile upper thighs. Stuff dragging along the floor. Dunno about pelvic floor - more like pelvic cellar. Grey pubes. Eee it's great.

Do you recall the 'pencil test'? It was the deciding factor for whether you needed to wear a bra; you put a pencil under boobage and if it stayed there, bra required.

What size object can any fellow MN gimmers feasibly 'tuck under' these days? Large bag of chips? Gin bottle? Rolled-up duvet?

crazynanna Wed 14-Sep-11 08:20:05

I can hold Tunbridge Wells under my boobage hmm

Respect, crazynanna

You keep a genteel class of town in your folds.

crazynanna Wed 14-Sep-11 08:29:26

TalcAndTurnips Nice one wink
I am aiming high, you may agree, when I tell you Surrey is in my sights.

I'm hoping to conceal the Bolivian Navy on manoeuvres in the South Pacific...

Smadarama Wed 14-Sep-11 08:34:32

grin @ boobage tucking comments.

I'm traumatised by having a hairs on my chin - have moved from plucking to waxing and feel embarassed every time I have to book the appointment. Shared my embarrassment with the young woman who does the waxing who said 'don't worry my Nan has got the same problem' - NAN !!! - really didn't make me feel better.

So glad to have found you lot

Hirsute Harridans of the Hinternet unite!

ceebeegeebies Wed 14-Sep-11 08:44:36

Ooh so glad I found this thread - my chin hairs are the bane of my life!!

They do literally appear overnight and are so thick and bristly - I also have a lot of fine hair which shows up in very bright lights/sunlight (as DH often points out to me!!) so I actually have to shave my chin regularly - how embarrassing is that? And how DH laughs when I say I am going to have a shave wink

Along with my moustache which I have to Immac off on a regular basis, I am quite a catch grin

QueenofJacksDreams Wed 14-Sep-11 08:51:09

I'm 25 and I could grow a bloody beard if I let my chin hair go untamed sad I also have one hair that grows from a mole on my face to be at least an inch long I have patches on my fanjo where no hair grows its lovely and smooth in those patches but looks really odd. I also seem to be gaining a hairy bum crack wails

Hardgoing Wed 14-Sep-11 08:55:13

This thread has cheered me up no end, I thought it was just me that had thick chin hairs glinting in the sunlight, having mysteriously grown extra fast and escaped the last round of plucking. That and the moustache. And yes, Ruby, you do have all this to come so no youthful smugness as it will come back and bite you on your (hairy) arse.

ceebeegeebies Wed 14-Sep-11 08:57:14

ruby I am only 37 so not really ancient. The moustache has been a problem for as long as I can remember whereas the chin hair is a relatively new thing wink

I have found others like me !
I have a few that grow , and know where they are , it's part of my daily routine to search them out .
They're not there everyday , but the satisfaction of being able to tweeze them out !
And , oh yes ! the horror of finding a new one that's about an inch long ,and wasn't there yesterday !
I have the odd White eyebrow as well .
Thinks about name changing to Doilooklikeahairytourist.
PS am quite old (51 sob ) and have always been quite hairy , have a sugaring session permanently booked , and like everything it does get worse as you get older.

KittyFane Wed 14-Sep-11 09:02:53

ONE hair? <sobs.> I have to WAX FFS!!! grin

MinesaBottle Wed 14-Sep-11 10:12:17

I have dark hair and pale skin. I have to watch like a hawk for the appearance of what seems to be a small piece of black wire on my chin. I also get 2 or 3 straight, thick, black hairs in my cleavage area and my pubes are very slowly extending up my stomach and down my thighs. I keep a pair of tweezers handy at all times. I’m only in my mid-30s, am expecting to turn into Chewbacca when I hit the menopause sad

rubyrubyruby Wed 14-Sep-11 10:39:49

Well I'm 48.

Have a few grey eyebrow hairs but lots of grey hair.
I bleach my top lip, just in case, but no chin hair.

Seem to take a lot more 'maintaining' as I get older though

Spamspamspam Wed 14-Sep-11 10:50:13

I am 41 and have white eyebrow hairs, chin hair - lot's of both white and black grin a moustache, a weird white hair that grows out of the side of my face, mole hair, grey pubes, breast hair, neck hair (a lot of) a monobrow and a very weird long black wiry hair that has grown out of my head about 4 times in my life, it is really spooky as it just appears much longer than all the other hairs and is almost like wire it is so thick, coarse and curly....ewww

Do I win??

Toffeefudgecake Wed 14-Sep-11 11:03:46

Ceebee - don't shave! My MIL shaves her chin and I can always feel the stubble when she kisses me. Can often see it too.

She also chops her long eyebrow hairs with scissors.

I have made a mental note to wax/Immac/tweeze if I ever have chin hairs (only one odd one so far).

cingulare Wed 14-Sep-11 11:09:47

i think i'd die if i lost my tweezers

i dread the idea of being too ill or incapacitated to pluck

a tactless beautician said to me she couldn't understand ''why i bother, at my age '' Thanks, sister. You won't be expecting a tip then.

ceebeegeebies Wed 14-Sep-11 11:18:36

Toffee thanks for the advice grin I can't Immac my chin as I use medication for acne (specifically on my chin) which reacts badly with Immac and far too many to tweeze so shaving seems the best option! They are very fine hairs so don't leave stubble afaik but I will keep my eye on that!

BelleEnd Wed 14-Sep-11 11:26:25

I am only 28 but I have 2 jet black wiry hairs that grow under my chin, like wire wool. And if I pluck, them, they are back within a week. I will be like Brian Blessed by the time I'm 40. sad

RedRubyBlue Wed 14-Sep-11 11:26:46

If you have a mole surgically removed do the hairs stop growing as well or does it not go down 'that deep'?

Stupid random question asked for no particular reason

[whistles]

Jins Wed 14-Sep-11 11:40:47

It should remove the follicle as well

Won't stop another one appearing somewhere else though

<joins in whistling>

bobblywobblymum Thu 15-Sep-11 18:43:35

I am nearly 42 and have had chin hair for as long as I can remember and have been plucking religiously for years, as well as the nipple hair I now have 1 white pube, 1 white eyelash and my head hair is thinning! Does it get any better than this?smile

HairyGrotter Thu 15-Sep-11 18:47:37

I epilate my neck...I like pain it would seem confused IT HURTS MUMMY, HURTS

bobblywobblymum Thu 15-Sep-11 18:53:36

Welcome home Whoamireally, welcome home

all4u Thu 15-Sep-11 20:01:08

I agree - why did our mothers never tell us these things? Mind you the young can't imagine being old and it has always come as a shock to each generation I'm sure! At least we have tweezers, hair colourants, tummy control hose and sun protection in everything...
And so many young people are so fat! I shudder to think what they will look like when the flush of youth gives way to pendulous , sweaty...yuk. We will be the 'elegant elderlies' of earlier times they will look back on with envy...in fact we will probably outlive them.

Whoamireally Thu 15-Sep-11 20:04:03

I am SURE I had my chin hair electrolysed a few years ago, so why is it back?

I am scared of being the 'invisible' woman - you know, when you hit your late 40's and let it all go...and sometimes when my mum kisses me on the cheek, I can feel her prickly chin hair and want to cringe blush

bobblywobblymum Thu 15-Sep-11 20:19:49

You're telling me!

ShowMeTheMonet Thu 15-Sep-11 20:24:02

Best thread ever.

<sits down with tweezers>

nightingale452 Thu 15-Sep-11 20:30:21

Laser treatment ladies, it's the only way. I've had spiky black chin hair since the age of 15, and I reckon by 40 I could have made a living as a bearded lady if it wasn't for daily plucking. Eventually the humiliation of the DCs saying 'mummy you're all spiky' drove me to have laser treatment and it's now mostly gone. Just make sure you do it before they go white as the laser needs pigment - I have to have electrolysis on the few white buggers which have started to crop up (since I started the laser treatment).

bobblywobblymum Thu 15-Sep-11 20:44:23

Noted. Any advice on the thinning hair.

Salmotrutta Thu 15-Sep-11 20:49:34

Gosh - I didn't expect to see this thread resurrected from Sunday! grin

But I'm glad to know there are others out there!

I just think we should be told about the randomness of ageing events.

... I am noticeably more creaky and stiff in the mornings angry!!

Salmotrutta Thu 15-Sep-11 20:51:12

Oh and I've developed a bit of a stomach .... in the last year, which I never had even post-DCs! shock

nightingale452 Thu 15-Sep-11 20:55:02

bobblywobblymum - sorry, not got that problem yet. I'd welcome it actually, I think there must be a wookie in my ancestry.

bobblywobblymum Thu 15-Sep-11 21:12:42

Salmotrutta-I can sympathise with the stomach syndrome, even thought I was: a-pregnant or b-early menopause. As it happens neither, just creeping towards middle age, though I don't actually feel it but am starting to look it. Oh hell!!sad

lookbutdonttouch Thu 15-Sep-11 21:32:08

I have one scary black chin hair that sprouts from nowhere.

And a couple of white eyebrow hairs.

And a spreading minge.

And random nipple hairs.

I darent look for grey hairs within the minge, it would be too much.

I have been going steadily greyer on my head for the last ten years.

My DD is no where near little and suddenly I am wobbly, for no reason.

I am not yet 35.

I was recently very ill and in hospital for a while and DP couldn't find my tweezers. Didn't matter to me at the time but oh was I mortified when I got home and looked in the mirror.

Hardgoing Thu 15-Sep-11 21:39:15

How about arthritis in one of your toes (a new development)? I'm just over 40 (and am not moaning, I know you can have far worse arthritis than in just one toe, but it was a shock!)

Dragthing Thu 15-Sep-11 22:13:13

I have all abovementioned horrors (45 yrs old) and have been putting off doing anything permanent about it (esp chin horrors) for years but now beginning to get sore fingers and so wondering if arthritis is going to stop me tweezing.
So advice please: Electrolysis seems to scar (from looking at friends who've had it). Will laser avoid this?

Thank you all for sharing my anguish with such excellent humour!

OldMumsy Fri 16-Sep-11 02:24:02

I epilate and use Bio Depiless Hair Retardation Complex Face Care Cream 50ml, costs £17.49. It seems to have stopped the coarse bristles from coming back as well as the moustache! So there is an answer ladies.

NotTheBlinkingGruffaloAgain Fri 16-Sep-11 06:18:21

I am constantly plucking my stray hairs the most disturbing is the 3 darker hairs I've discovered growing out of the top of my nose, I've got their cards marked but not sure quite how to deal with them yet, you kill one and three come to their funeral sad

instantfamily Fri 16-Sep-11 09:08:47

My biggest worry is my failing eyesight and what it will do for my hairy chin, mono-brow, random neck hair. aargh.

Madbadsad Fri 16-Sep-11 16:43:03

Thanks for the tip OldMumsy, will definitely try the cream. £14.95 on Amazon. Watch this face space.

Oblomov Fri 16-Sep-11 17:14:32

I've been having electrolysis on and off for years, since uni. At the moment my hairyness is awful. And I have a new wirey one appeared on the side of my jawline. And the nipple hair is getting worse. And i have 3 or so new wirey ones on my stomach. Tis so awful.
Am considering just giving up, plaiting my eyebrows into my moustache, into my beard, into my nipple hair and plaiting that into my stomach, and just being done with it.
Bloody hair. Everyone hates hair.

earthpixie Fri 16-Sep-11 17:32:57

I get coarse, dark chin foliage, despite being very fair AND before it emerges, I get a spot in the exact place. Which segues attractively into a witch hair after a day or too. Mmmm, raunchy.

fiventhree Fri 16-Sep-11 17:58:40

Well, I had electrolysis for 13 years, without success. It isnt permanent. Then I spent £140 a time on laser and had six treatments, for hairs on chin, at an NHS semi private centre. The local NHS doesnt fund this treatment, but can suggest where. I was told that it would not remove it permanently, but slow it down, which proved true. After about 6, you need to keep going, but once every three months, not monthly. Also, this is the time of year to do it, as it is a nightmare to manage over the summer, as it is CRITICAL to take great daily care to stay out of the sun in order to avoid permanent penny sized brown patches where the laser hit. I finally got bored of the three monthly top up treatments, not to say broke, and stopped, two years ago. All the hairs grew back. Now I pluck them out, and shave it if I am in a hurry. I think there are about 20-30 hairs in total.

So a bugger of a problem, and glad Im not the only one!!

Whathashappenedtomyboobs Fri 16-Sep-11 18:14:44

Ok so glad im not the only one....I get a long dark hair that grows out of my chin, one on my neck, one in between my eyebrows (its very very thick) and a freaky whispy one that grows out of my back - yuk!!! I'm only 31!!!! sad

thecaptaincrocfamily Fri 16-Sep-11 18:21:32

You are not alone! I also have these growing out of most of my moles on my face and DH is now a chief Plucker grin as he deals with them in his tactless way i.e. going around the supermarket, out for a drink etc !

bobblywobblymum Fri 16-Sep-11 18:30:01

As it has already been said, it is so nice to hear I am not alone with my hairiness woes. I will definitely be trying the face cream as recommended by Oldmumsy. I think what embarrasses me the most is when talking to people outside, especially in the sunshine and I see their eyes becoming fixed on my chin. Aargh!! Straight home to my trusty tweezers and magnifying mirror. blush

Skippyboo Fri 16-Sep-11 19:09:41

So pleased and relieved to know I'm not the only hairy one! I am blonde with fair skin and have three persistent coarse black hairs that grow at breakneck speed out of my chin. I have lived with these for three years and now tweeze as soon as the little buggers are long enough!

I'm peri-menopausal so I have the crazy menstrual cycle, the waist/tummy/bum inflation and am a hot-flushing psycho.

The scariest thing, though, is that I've just had to ask my husband how old I am blush It appears I'm 43... although I argued like hell that I'm 42. I'm shocked to find that I'll be 44 in 3 months time.

Bastards.

Ha, ha! This made my day ;-) I'm 46 and becoming paranoid about chin/neck hairs - forever stroking my chin and trying to pluck the offending blighters with my fingernails. So glad I'm not alone although seem to recollect Victoria Wood talking about extra hair although I could have dreamt it the peri-menopause memory being such as it is!!
But on a positive note I am really grateful that being an ex redhead fading to blonde my thick hairs are not dark but really bright Ginger - gorgeous!
Hairy, jelly- belly, needing reading glasses - such a catch?

CrazyNanna Fri 16-Sep-11 23:15:04

God this peri menopause memory thing is ridiculous!

DD called me from school to ask for a 'phone number from my 'phone. After shrieking and panicing, running in and out of rooms, screaming "Where's my phone?" .....for DD to say "it's in your hand up against your ear, mum!" hmm

I'm 36 and have had the chin hair for, I guess two years.

The worrying thing is that I find myself enjoying it a bit too much. I find myself fingering it in moments of deep contemplation. Like when I'm asked a challenging question at work, kind of thing.

Ive always been minge o' plenty, and I think I got the nipple hairs before I got the functional nipples.

shakey1500 Fri 16-Sep-11 23:36:46

Oooh you've just reminded me to check for mine. I forget it lives there, bastard thing, black, wiry, the thing taunts me and if nothing else, reminds me that at the rip old age of 41 that I'm having memory loss forgetting to check for it!

By the way, whilst we're on the subject of hairs, have you mn-ers CHECKED the back of your legs? Not the calf bit, the back of the thigh? Where the effing Jeff do those beauties come from eh? And who is Jeff? grin

HairyGrotter Sat 17-Sep-11 07:30:05

Love the minge o'plenty grin might use that myself.

Back of my thighs, wow. I'm sure I shave there when 'spring cleaning' (I'm single now, phew, nay bother with that now) but will catch a glance in the mirror and BAM hairy mo'fo be staring back at me...amazing.

LaLaLaLayla Sat 17-Sep-11 07:36:40

I have these things. These are my solutions:

White pubes = Betty
White eyebrows = eyelash tint
Hairs on face = half-face wax every month
Nipple hairs = pluck (after a glass of wine!)

HairyGrotter Sat 17-Sep-11 07:42:36

Back in the 90's I peroxided my pubes, and dyed them Green to match my hair on my head blush. I see that Betty does a lush blue one

LaLaLaLayla Sat 17-Sep-11 07:44:08

I like the shocking pink one grin

HairyGrotter Sat 17-Sep-11 07:45:17

The pink is rather fetching!

LaLaLaLayla Sat 17-Sep-11 07:49:18

Can I ask why you ladies with hairy faces don't get them waxed?

HairyGrotter Sat 17-Sep-11 07:51:46

I'm a student living on £20 a week. I wish I could afford to have treatments, thankfully, it's not currently unmanageable, just the odd bristle.

LaLaLaLayla Sat 17-Sep-11 08:01:44

Sorry HG sad. I guess my question was probably directed more to us older ladies who are very hairy.

Skippyboo Sat 17-Sep-11 11:36:20

My tweezers are my Best Thing.

Helenagrace Sat 17-Sep-11 12:20:36

Random white eyebrow hairs here too. No grey hairs on head though. 'Tis bizarre.

Not bothered by boobage issues. I pack an F cup anyway so could probably hide a small nation there quite comfortably. It does mean that I don't really buy lingerie more tarted up scaffolding. In fact I took my bra off in the gym last week and it stood up on its own, much to the amusement if my B cup best friend.

limitedperiodonly Sat 17-Sep-11 12:22:16

Threading is the way to go. Bloody painful on the prairies that are my sideburns though. At least I don't have any sturdy or black facial hair - yet.

I have three white bristles on my neck that I'm constantly checking for. They've disappeared now which is a bit unsettling. I was off work a while ago so let them grow just to see how long they'd get. About a centimetre and gently curved. I would gently tug them from time to time. It was grimly fascinating. No one said anything but they probably noticed.

Since finding a fine inch long hair on my eyelid three years ago I constantly monitor that area. It's only returned once.

To whoever said something about failing eyesight - yes, it's a bugger.

The fine black hairs that occasionally sprouted round my nipples that didn't really bother me have turned white and coarse and definitely bother me now. I can feel them but can't see them clearly enough to pluck. If I use a magnifying mirror the ends of the tweezers clash on it. It's one of the biggest frustrations of my life.

I could ask DH to help but that would be too humiliating.

Yes, to back of thigh hair. Yes to grey pubes. Yes to white brow hair.

A magnifying mirror and tweezers would be my Desert Island Discs luxuries. If I was only allowed to take one of them I'd probably kill myself.

giraffesCantChaChaCha Sat 17-Sep-11 12:31:41

I always feel the fuckers when I am sitting at traffic lights groping my neck. Then home in front of mirror they hide and I cnt find them

LaLaLaLayla Sat 17-Sep-11 12:37:13

Helenagrace, I'm an FF and I can highly recommend Elle MacPherson Lingerie. She makes some beautiful underwear for us larger ladies.

saffronwblue Sat 17-Sep-11 12:48:52

Yes, the odd black hairs on my chin have now been joined by stiff white bristles on my neck, These mingle with the hormonal acne that was meant to clear up when I was 18 and is still with me at 50 FFS. Luckily my eyesight is fading so fast that I can barely see these horrors.
Have had thinning hair for much of my adult life.

Salmotrutta Sat 17-Sep-11 15:32:30

Oh yes - ever-increasing long sightedness here too.
Necessitating the wearing of glasses. Which I then have to peer over in an old Grand Dame fashion to look at people. Maybe I should get a pince-nez?
And I too forget things:
Why did I come into this room again?
What was I saying just now?
Whose birthday is it this month?
... <sigh>

Salmotrutta Sat 17-Sep-11 15:33:51

envy at F/FF size bra.
Always had a deficiency in that department sad

LaLaLaLayla Sat 17-Sep-11 16:33:01

Salmotrutta, I had a midlife crisis boob job blush. Would highly recommend it grin.

dementedma Sat 17-Sep-11 16:48:59

oh gawd, another hairy mary here. Yes to the black chin whiskers (hag hairs) and now some white ones shock
yes to grey pubes and overall minge thinning.
No nipple hairs as yet.
eyesight failing at a shocking rate!

TeenageWildlife Sat 17-Sep-11 17:13:42

Just ordered that stuff form Amazon - thanks. Now tell me what to use on the fucking AGE SPOT that has chosen to appear, not on my arm, leg or hand, but above my eyebrow! At least it takes the attention away from the chin hair but what do I do? <<wails>>

Megfox Sat 17-Sep-11 18:19:09

I found my first chin hair when I was less than thirty! It's a shock, granted, but it's nothing to stress about, really. Some women get hairs on their chin, some don't.

My dear, late Mum used to get several, very dark hairs on her chin. I would watch in distatste, as she clipped them with nail scissors!

As soon as my two dark and one white hairs appear on my chin, I PLUCK them out at the root! No mercy!

RoyalWelsh Sat 17-Sep-11 18:42:23

I'm 23 and I can often be found in the office, stroking my hairy hairy chin <sob>. I am pale skinned and dark haired and the buggers just keep on coming. I have to be very careful that I don't rnd up with a monobrow as well. Nipple hairs a plenty here too.

The worst thing, though, is the two occasions recent where I have been trying to pick a really stubborn scab from my forehead, only for DP to look and inform me that it is not a scab, but a long, curly, wirey, white hair. On my FOREHEAD ffs

Skippyboo Sat 17-Sep-11 18:50:10

It's so unfair. Especially as my husband is 10 years younger and finds the whole thing amusing (apart from the hot-flushing psycho part).

I'm being bitch-slapped by Mother Nature sad

neuroticmumof3 Sat 17-Sep-11 20:02:19

I get horrible thick white hairs in my eyebrows, have some white pubes and my fingers are getting very hairy. I get a black sticky out hair on the inside of my knee. Last year I found a 2 inch long hair just randomly sprouting on my cheek. I dread bright sunlight. My hair on my head is thinning and about 70% grey. I'm only 43. And I've had a massively expanding tummy and arse thing going on this year as well.

M0naLisa Sun 18-Sep-11 00:00:45

I get a white hair on my chin once a month. I once pulled a haur from my back thinking it was a stray and It hurt when It cane out my shoulder blade area. Not had it back since,DH once pulled what he thought was a stray hair on my top but It was attached to my chest. bough! I too get q black hair grow on each nipple, I shave them at least twice a month lol

Im 25 sad

LaLaLaLayla Sun 18-Sep-11 02:12:38

Now tell me what to use on the fucking AGE SPOT that has chosen to appear, not on my arm, leg or hand, but above my eyebrow! At least it takes the attention away from the chin hair but what do I do?

IPL Photorejuvenation. Makes age spots disappear.

LaLaLaLayla Sun 18-Sep-11 02:13:21

and my fingers are getting very hairy.

Mine are too. I also have them waxed once a month.

Crazynanna Sun 18-Sep-11 09:52:16

My dd(age 25) was with me in Argos, and whilst watching me write down the caralogue numbers',she affectionatly and loudly announced "Awww mum, you've got one of those liver spots on your hand! You remind me of Gran" hmm

Crazynanna Sun 18-Sep-11 09:52:39

catalogue

bobblywobblymum Sun 18-Sep-11 10:15:07

My DP regularly enjoys commenting on my 'freckles' on my hands calling them liver spots. To add to that my hairy toes, which isn't so much an issue now summer is over they can be nicely covered up. I am now off to colour my sparkling white stripe on the top of my head. Mother Nature can indeed be very cruel.sad

BobblyGussets Sun 18-Sep-11 17:51:15

I shave my chin hairs too. I am as jumpy as a meerkat in the shower incase DH catches me at it and it blows "womanly mystique" for him.

Mine are so bad, I could almost give the kids a "dry shave", you know, where stubbly Dads/Uncles torture small children by rubbing the stubble on their faces. I also have a fair (in colour) 'tache. The sunlight must have caught it one day because DS2 (3 yrs old) looked at me and said, "Got whiskers Mummy?".

Anyway, I raise you lot chin hairs and the like, by letting out a fart at work whilst sneezing. Pelvic floor problems? Try "Anal floor problems".

BobblyGussets Sun 18-Sep-11 17:52:08

<waves to bobblywobblymum>

diminishedresponsibility Sun 18-Sep-11 22:29:31

I need to ask the question, how long should we put off using a wilkinson 5 blader? Is it 5 now? Maybe since I last saw an add they've gone up.

Pang Sun 18-Sep-11 22:56:07

Really enjoyed this thread. What fun I have to look forward to! hmm

darksideofthemooncup Sun 18-Sep-11 23:23:18

I have just returned to this thread after a 3 week hiatus from hair removal. I did a full on epilation session yesterday, I could have re -carpeted the house with the hairy detritus.
How lovely grin

Ceiniog Tue 20-Sep-11 13:26:09

Oh-so- brilliant, this thread so cheered up my day...Thank you all!! xx

limitedperiodonly Tue 20-Sep-11 13:57:24

Just to let you know I got that elusive nipple hair today. The bastard was growing sideways and hiding in a nipple crevasse.

bobblywobblymum Tue 20-Sep-11 16:52:25

Beware, they multiply!!!

Arrogantcat Wed 21-Sep-11 16:50:36

Another hairy mary here! Tweezers are my best friend. I dread ending up in a coma and my family gradually sit and watch me change into a freaking werewolf.

Tewkespeggy Wed 21-Sep-11 17:13:31

Listen Girlies there is some good news...

soon your eyesight will fail and you wont SEE any of the little blighters!

limitedperiodonly Wed 21-Sep-11 17:18:30

That's happened to me already but I can still feel them. <<sobs in frustration making vision even more blurry>>

Arrogantcat Wed 21-Sep-11 18:06:52

I've got two daughters too. Think the eldest is going the same way as me. Genes can be very cruel.

chasingrabbitswithsaladtongs Mon 05-Nov-12 14:41:14

Ladies, can I thank you all for making my day a little less disastrous. I have read ALL the posts and have had a good and well deserved chuckle. Finally I now know that I too am not alone any more in the great "hair-debate". I have very fair skin ( don't tan at all!!) and dark brown hair and noticeable hair has been the bane of my life-add to the fact that the little buggers grow back at an incredible rate. It is bad enough having leg hair that just won't quit growing-I have threatened to stop waxing etc. and instead grab the knitting needles and "knit" myself a pair of tights from my own leg hair-whilst still on my legs!! [ my hubby says that's why our cat is so attached to me...he reckons she thinks I am her "upright" furry mother!!]...and now menopause kicked in 2 years ago at 47 [ now post menopausal at 49]....and the chin has gone from the "odd" stiff one to a battle ground where I wage war every day....and you should see my tweezer collection-one in every room and one for each handbag owned!!!!! Just answer me this though....why the pimple effect before the little buggers break the surface???? I look like I have "acne" but it's not... every time a hair is about to sprout it is proceeded by a lump, then white-head then...(if I can resist NOT plucking/squeezing/grabbing a shovel to dig it out) becomes red and "bruise-like feeling" and only then breaks cover.....and the rest of the neck is following suit. I have even found one growing straight out of the cheek...omg!!

EricNorthmansFangBanger Mon 05-Nov-12 16:52:18

I'm 25. Since being pregnant with DD2 I seem to sprout black hairs on my chin/jawline <sobs> DH loves plucking them and showing them to me! Makes me want to weep! Currently pregnant with DC3, which we've been told is a boy. I seem to be sprouting black hairs in more places as time goes on sad
